“I Actually Discovered the Cure for AIDS”: Arizona Pastor Reveals Biblically Based Plan For An “AIDS-Free World by Christmas”

Screen Shot 2014-12-03 at 12.26.44 PMA series of videos of Baptist pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona have gone viral as he talks about the solution of AIDS being the exterminations of all homosexuals and bisexual citizens. He explained that AIDS could be solved by Christmas with a simple holocaust for homosexuals. The videos are below.

Anderson takes off on this sermon to recognize “AIDS Awareness Day.” That led to his sermon entitled “AIDS: The Judgement of God” where he explains that Leviticus 20:13 compels the faithful to kill gay, lesbians, and bisexuals. He explains that, in his reading of the section, “I actually discovered the cure for AIDS.” Here is the thrust of his solution:

steveI.D_400x400

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.”

Anderson added

“And that, my friend, is the cure for AIDS. It was right there in the Bible all along — and they’re out spending billions of dollars in research and testing. It’s curable — right there. Because if you executed the homos like God recommends, you wouldn’t have all this AIDS running rampant.”

What is chilling that Anderson refers to how many kids are in the audience as he spews this hateful sermon, including teaching them that “all homos are pedophiles” and screaming “No homos will ever be allowed in this church as long as I am pastor here.”

Anderson previously attracted attention by explaining why women have to be entirely silent in church. Not even an amen:

If your stomach can take it, here is the full sermon:

If you know your Bible, when the Lord led Joshua and his kings when they went to battle, all living things were to be killed, no slaves taken, however, slavery has existed from the beginning of time, even the Israelite s were slaves to the Egyptians before the Exodus. God did not allow his children to take slaves.

RE: The article and this pastor,
This is not a church with Christ as its head. This is a hate group using the words in the Bible to spew its hate.. First of all God does not recommend that man kill the gays even though he calls it an abomination. They will answer to God, not man and in God’s time.. It does not tell man to put them to death yet further down in Leviticus it does say, thy shall kill the beast when a woman lies with it. This is creating a new life form. This is also the Old Testament written to keep his chosen people from becoming heathens as the gentiles were at that time.

The pastor above does not seem to acknowledge the New Testament at all. This is not Jesus’s view of the world but rather one using Satan to guide them and picking and choosing what to preach about. Jesus in the New Testament speaks of love for one another. We are not to get revenge for God. God will take care of that all by himself. Jesus died for all our sins, he changed the equation with his death. My opinion

Question: Are Muslim temples exempt from taxes, or Reverend Wright’s church exempt? Are the Amish? Is the church where Louis Farakan (sp) stood up in church and called its followers to tear this country apart this past week exempt? Yes, there should be some changes made but who will make such changes?

  2. I was raised in a fundamentalist church. I heard almost every single thing this pastor has said growing up in the Assemblies of God church, before it was ‘modernized’. This IS undoubtedly ‘pure’ Christian fundamentalism. This pastor is preaching from the Bible, his fundamentalist version.

You know, killing people you don’t agree with is a great idea!

This reminds me of the old saying…
You know that you have created God in your image when your God hates the same people you do.

  4. BREAKING NEWS –

SCOTUS to hear case of Female UPS driver who wants to deny and erase the fact that she is a woman. Absurdly and incoherently, she assumes a status of equality with men who don’t get pregnant and do show up for work.

She needs to accept the fact that she is a woman and that she will never be the same as or equal to a man. People must accept their characteristics and that limited government, as defined by the Preamble and Constitution, does not exist to compensate any individual for those characteristics. Every American, per the Preamble and Constitution, is to be self-reliant and free. This woman must compensate by not becoming pregnant, showing up for work and actually completing her assigned duties. That American constitutional government simply assures freedom and self-reliance. “All men are created equal.” After creation, the outcomes of men’s lives are up to them.

Affirmative action is unconstitutional and the SCOTUS needs to find no constitutional basis for legislation or governmental interference in free enterprise and no valid claim for preferential treatment for any employee on any basis other than that of merit and value as perceived by the managers of a business. Just as Congress shall make no law against religion, the SCOTUS needs to find that no law can be made related to free enterprise and that this is a private contractual matter.

The Framers UNDERSTOOD that free people shall conduct their endeavors and businesses without governmental interference. They understood to substitute “business” for “religion” in the 1st Amendment. Shame on you for not understanding the essential nature of freedom that the Framers understood:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion (business), or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

  5. This is the same gentleman who publicly prayed for the death of Pres. Obama in 2009 and received a personal visit from the Secret Service. Of course, he has no education, but prepared for the ministry by memorizing portions of the King James version. He likely believes that King James himself did that translation.

  6. I wouldn’t be so quick to label this guy a Christian Fundamentalist. I would be quick to call him a psychopath, but not the former. But, then again, what I consider a fundamentalist is probably quite different from what a lot of other people call it.

  7. Leviticus 19:27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

    Nice hair cut there pastor…

  8. This is Christian Fundamentalism. Not so benign when one sees it in action, hmmm? This pastor epitomizes fundamentalist teachings. Why are people surprised? He’s just very open and honest about it, a true born againer.

  9. Tell me why we grant these idiot hate-mongers tax-exempt status? And don’t give me any of that First Amendment crap. (I’m joking; I’m at attorney and lover of the Constitution too.) Love you blog, Jonathan. Big fan. BTW, I went to the Rome Center with your older sister.

  10. I have never understood “hate crime”. Assault and murder are crimes which should be pursued and prosecuted and the perpetrators punished. I have never comprehended the need for the modifier. Murder is murder and I do not understand the need to create some hierarchy.

  11. This is horrifying! This is the kind of rhetoric that gets gay people assaulted and murdered. He is inciting people to commit hate crimes. It is sad that so much discrimination against gays comes from churches.

  12. I am not in any way shape or form condoning or agreeing in the man’s twisted justice but he is the antipodean pole to the Muslim woman in another post who I think you said risked death for driving.

And if you go back in American history to the ante bellum period there were many ministers who could cite chapter and verse on the Biblical justification for slavery.

So one can find a rationale or justification for nearly anything if one reads it literally.

  13. You know, killing people you don’t agree with is a great idea! It is sure easier and quicker than trying to change minds through reasoned debate. But first, you have to have really good gun control, and a whole bunch of gun seizures, because if whatever people you want to exterminate have guns, then they might shoot back.

  14. Woah. He is one sick puppy. What kind of people would go to this church and listen to these horrible spewings. Can this be a mainstream church? I don’t know much about Baptists, but he sounds like a Jim Jones kind of cult leader.

  15. It is pretty sad when a pastor misses the “Love one another” and “show mercy and grace” to others points that Jesus taught.
