In a bizarre and depraved case of alleged child abuse, police in Carnation, Washington accuse Mary Miles of bringing her fourteen year old daughter to a truck stop in North Bend for the purpose of selling her daughter’s virginity to Miles’ boyfriend Bryan Murphy.
The two agreed on a child exploitation scheme where Miles is alleged to have entered Murphy’s truck with her daughter. Miles and he then engaged in a sex. When Murphy then grabbed the daughter’s leg she became extremely distressed and escaped the truck. She walked several miles to a middle school where she met with her seventeen year old sister who then called police.
Police the next day interviewed Murphy who consented to a search of her cell phone. She admitted to police that Murphy wanted to have sex with both the daughters but preferred the fourteen year old because she was a virgin.
During the cell phone search police describe a depraved exchange was found between Miles and Murphy where Miles offered to arrange for a sexual encounter with the fourteen year old girl in exchange for half a month’s rent. Murphy agreed with a rather stunning response.
Miles sent a message back saying, “Ok you can have (the 14-year old).” Murphy also sent Miles a message saying he bought a wedding ring and would marry her “the day after I pop (the 14-year-old girl’s) cherry,” according to prosecutors.
Miles claimed that the girl agreed to have sex with Murphy in exchange for four hundred dollars but admitted that she arranged the sexual encounter. Consent of the minor is irrelevant per Washington State Law. She also is alleged to have originally tried to protect Murphy by refusing to fully cooperate with police as to his identity.
Law Enforcement Officers arrested Murphy in Oklahoma. Miles is charged with Commercial Sex Abuse of a Minor.

I thought that was apparent from the way I referred to the University of Chicago’s School of Economics in my post. Next time, I’ll try to be more obvious with my references for your benefit, like maybe using all caps or bolds.

Leo Strauss was a Political Scientist who taught at the University of Chicago and was known as the Father of Neoconservatism.
Milton Friedman is known as a Libertarian so I think you are confused.

Gigi: I have no doubt the adults in this case do not vote, which is precisely how the Neocons like it. The people involved in this story are merely trying to cope in the wretched world brought about by the Neo-No Free Lunch-Con game.
The scandal involving England’s Prince Andrew and an underage sex slave is common practice and will only become more so in the future as increasing poverty resulting from Neocon policies drives people to sell themselves, and others, for sex.
RTC – I thought Johnson and the Democrats had won the War on Poverty so no one had to sell their daughter’s virginity to their boyfriend anymore.
RTC, I doubt these people ever vote and if they do, they’ll take the liberal side. My heart goes out to these two young girls and I pray some good soul will direct them in good morality, virtues, and values.

There have been reports of places in the world where young girls are used to settle family debts. This is an acceptable practice in some tribal areas. There was a feeling of cultural superiority for us in believing that such practices do not happen in our country. However, we see that even here this can happen in some lower subcultures.
The one positive aspect of this story is that the seventeen-year-old sister became the adult in the family, called the police, and stopped the travesty. Perhaps there is hope somewhere that the two sisters can grow to be a real family.
Just another day in the life wrought by republican neocons. It won’t stop here (with this case).

I think mom would make a great stock. Remember, you don’t boil stock. Just place mom in a very large stock pot w/ assorted vegetables. Cover her w/ water. Bring it to a boil, and then simmer for 4 hours. You’ll then need to skim mom’s fat off the top before using. Discard the bones or give them to the dog after they’re cool.
That is just gross. Sad and gross. I would like to take the child in here and reform her.

Stocks and bonds. Not the Wall St. kind. Charge a small fee to see them on public display and use the proceeds to get the daughters counseling and other support.

This is not the first or even second time I have heard of something like this. And if, like rape, it is under reported, how much more of it is going on?
I’ll bet she was distressed long before he grabbed her leg.
God knows what these two sisters’ home life has been, to have arrived at this low point. And where’s their happy ending? Foster homes?
I hope both Miles and Murphy go to jail for a long time, and that the girls get a safe, loving home somewhere, some counseling, and a shot at a good life.

The sad part is that both the truckers and the mom will probably spend less than 60 months behind bars. Where is the dad in all this? Or was he also a loser by not being around in the children’s life?
So he was going to do the ‘honorable’ thing right after doing the ‘dishonorable’ thing; isn’t that special. Was she planning on selling the 17 year old for the other half of the month?
