Video of Parking Disaster by D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton Goes Viral

160px-Eleanor_Holmes_NortonA video of D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton has gone viral this week of what is being deemed the worse parking job in recent memory. The video shows the non-voting member of the United States House of Representatives taking a rather novel view of the diagonal parking lines of the spot on Capitol Hill.

What appears to be a young intern or aide tries unsuccessfully to guide Norton into the spot. She then returns in what looks like it might be reattempted but she then leaves the car.

Notably, this week Norton is pushing the Secret Service for better training of employees and has argued that these government employees “do not receive the necessary training to prepare them for current and new missions, unacceptable incidents occur.”

What is clear is that the delegate is far better at politics than spatial problems.

  1. Trooper, Did you ever hear the voicemail Horton left w/ a lobbyist shaking him down for money? It is one of the most blatant examples of corruption I have ever heard. She left it on tape!!

  2. Barkin Dog

Kind of reminds me of Reagan, commenting to Chancellor Kohl about when he was a tail gunner in a B-29 during WW2. Reagan was empathizing with Kohl at a ceremony taking place at a Wehrmacht cemetery. Reagan never left Hollywood during WW2. But old sleepy is the poster child of the Republicans: caused the greatest recession since the 30’s until another Republican sharp tack came along.

But seriously folks, if ever there were examples of people getting elected for paint jobs, hats with no cattle, etc they are to be found in the governments. Inhofe, Reagan, Cruz, Palin, the list goes on.

  3. Obama is driving America the same way.

    Tell me you haven’t noticed.

I know you haven’t done anything about it.

    Edmund Burke (disputed) –

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

  4. You have to be age 16 to drive and park a car in most states. So this demonstrates that we need to cut off the privilege at age 65 when Social Security chimes in. Or is driving a “right” and not a “privilege”? Maybe she never could drive. But we are talking DC here. Not your average place in America. They do have a Metro in DC. Perhaps she should take the Metro. And since she can not vote then she does not need to show up. And she does not need to show up on MSNBC or CNN or Fox. But she does get free medical care for life. As do all Congressmen and women, House or Senate. And those who get that right, or is it a privilege, should not be dissing ObamaCare. I propose that some Congressman propose a bill to take away free medical care for all Congress geeks and make them simply sign up for ObamaCare and pay some insurance company out of their salary. All things being equal. Equal Rights for Equal Types. A voice not an echo.

She looks senile. She needs a guide dog. One who can drive. Four legs good two legs baaaaaad!

  5. Speaking in Congress, Eleanor Holmes Norton claimed Americans do not have the right to know what’s going on in the White House.
“You don’t have a right to know everything in a separation-of-powers government, my friend. That is the difference between a parliamentary government and a separation-of-powers government.”

  6. Regarding the grand jury proceedings in Ferguson:

“I’m a lawyer, I have not read the transcript, I haven’t read the transcript because my interest is not in what happened, my interest is in what should happen, where we go forward from here. That is my interest, thank you very much” Eleanor Holmes Norton.

  7. The really sad thing that she is a much better driver than congressperson.

  8. Wadewilliams – if this was from the Daily Mail ‘hilarious’ would be in the title and there would be more misspellings.

  9. Imagine what the defenders of Holmes would be saying if this were Boehner. We would skewer him as well.

  10. ChipS, Obviously this parking is a metaphor for the incompetent, entitled duopoly. You and I would skewer either party, knowing both are incompetent and entitled. I’m just waiting for the race card to be played.

  11. Alternative headline: “Eleanor Holmes Norton Veers Right”.

    It’s a start.

  12. Who knows, maybe someone DID straighten her car later on. She is an older woman, who may have any number of physical impairments and I can agree that perhaps she needs to give up driving.

  13. I see two issues: 1) she appears to have some medical problem; lack of depth perception or similar, that the DMV should look into as it may impair her ability to drive safely, and 2) lack of civility, courtesy and respect for the rights of others. She certainly could have had her aide jump in and straighten out the car, but she simply didn’t care.

  14. I have no love for any political party. This was a rude and disrespectful act, and totally expresses how our bought bourgeoisie see their place in our society.
