Amnesty International has issued a report accusing Hamas to a campaign of abduction, torture and wanton executions of Palestinians during last year’s conflict in the Gaza Strip. The report identifies roughly two dozen Palestinians who were shot and killed by Hamas and dozens of others who were arrested and tortured.
Victims of Hamas included political rivals of Hamas, including members of the Fatah party of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and those accused of cooperating with Israel. The spasm of violence started on August 22nd. One execution was even held outside of a mosque in front of children.
Another account involved Atta Najjar, an ex-Palestinian Authority policeman imprisoned since 2009 and killed by Hamas in August. He brother describes his gruesome end at the hands of Hamas militants: “His arms and legs were broken … his body was as if you’d put it in a bag and smashed it … His body was riddled with about 30 bullets . . . He had slaughter marks around his neck, marks of knives … And from behind the head – there was no brain. Empty … It was difficult for us to carry him … He was heavy, like when you put meat in a bag; no bones. His bones were smashed. They broke him in the prison.”
Some of the torture was carried out at a hospital, according to the Report.

And for those claiming Israel was justified in raining missiles onto Gaza, that there is no such thing as an innocent population, you are thereby making the claim that Al Qaeda was justified in blowing up the world trade center, there is no such thing as an innocent population.

2- Let me see, on one side, people who are trapped within a territory, where they can’t go anywhere without authorization, which is almost impossible to get, who have no prospect of freedom, work, development of any kind, who are subject to relentless control by an occupying force… where settlers can come in, take over land a life, supported by an army that sees Palestinians as lower than beasts..
One the other, we have a modern state where one can live in relative freedom and amenities, despite one’s status as a second class citizen…. what would I choose, what would I choose…?

I don’t see an obligation on the part of the Israelis to increase their own casualties to more closely match Palestinian causualties.
Might be a good PR move them to remove the missile/rocket defense shield and do away with the siren warnings that give their civilians seconds to dash for shelter.
The media coverage of the Isreali-Palestinian conflict knocked off coverage of developments with ISIS, Ukraine, Libya and Egypt. The maimstream media are not good at multi-tasking, or chewing gum and reporting at the same time.
It was sloppy coverage that degenerated into a PR War as to the numbers game of civilian casualties.
If ISIS or Hezbollah ever got a foothold in Mexico and started lobbing rockets acrossed our borders at major metropolitan areas, let’s be “civilized” about our response and try to more closely manage our causualties to match theirs.
It’s a PR Slam Dunk.

There is a big difference between targeting as an act of “heroic” terrorism and collateral damage. War is not pretty. Here is a statistic by the Iraqi Body Count initiative of CIVILIAN deaths in Iraq between 2003-2013 plenty were collateral damage although the military will probably not comment on that.

That’s a conservative estimate there were probably much more undocumented deaths. Would you say that our miiltary purposely targeted civilians across the board for slaughter like their Iraqi enemies? How about human shields and staging firefights from hospitals, mosques etc.?
Linda- these numbers to a large extent reflect the use of children as human shields by the PA. The Israelis have consistently given advance warnings of attacks on those who are firing rockets and other forms of aggression against Israel and Hamas has constantly forced families to stay in those areas to assure that there is a high body count. Hamas has used hospitals, schools, and residential neighborhoods to launch attacks. Israel does its best to protect citizens. Hamas does its best to be sure Palestinians citizens are killed and maimed so they can use their deaths for political purposes.
When one picks a fight with an opponent who is stronger and equipped, don’t complain when you get beat. This article proves what beasts the Israelis must defend itself against on a daily basis. Imagine, if these animals treat their own kind this way, what they would do and how they would behave with Israelis or Jews. The PA gets plenty of funding; its fat, corrupt leaders siphon off the money and allow their own people to live in squalor.

Oppression? Apartheid state? Persecution? Racism? A poll recently commissioned by Channel 10 and conducted by the Statnet research institute, which is headed by Israeli Arab statistician Yousef Makladeh, shows that the vast majority of Arabs living in Israel, including Judea and Samaria, would much rather live under Israeli administration than under the Palestinian Authority (PA).
The Arabs participating in the poll were asked: “Under which authority do you prefer to live, Israel or the Palestinian Authority?” A whopping 77 percent preferred Israel.
Professor Sammy Smooha, a sociologist from the University of Haifa, told the Jerusalem Post that the survey’s findings appear reasonable.
Smooha points out that his own annual opinion survey, the Index of Arab-Jewish Relations in Israel, shows that 64 percent of Arabs said Israel is a good country in which to live. According to the survey, only 21 percent of Arabs were willing to move to a Palestinian state.
Palestinians Say PA is Corrupt
These findings are not surprising, considering the feedback from Arabs living in PA-run territory, including a recent poll.
It is known in Israel that Arabs are employed by and receive service at all government offices. They study at all universities, including Ariel University in Samaria, and serve as judges, IDF officers and parliamentarians. They are accepted in all walks of Israeli life.
I thought the only villains in the Middle East were the Jews. That’s what po told me anyway.
Hamas has been accused of using hospitals to hide weapons and a firing bases for heavy weapons. I see no reason why they should not be the site of torture and killing by Hamas.
