Report: Illegal Immigrants Account for Roughly 75 Percent of Drug Possession Cases and 30 Percent Of All Federal Sentencings

UnknownA little discussed report by the United States Sentencing Commission has been released with an astonishing figure: Of the more than 2,200 people who received federal sentences for drug possession in fiscal year 2014, almost three-quarters of them were illegal immigrants. In addition, illegal immigrants reportedly made up more than one-third of all federal sentences for all crimes.

Unfortunately, the comments of Donald Trump have sucked the oxygen out of the public debate on the significance of such crime trends. According to new data from the United States Sentencing Commission. While crimes by illegal immigrants are slightly down (38.6 percent of all federal sentencings in 2013 but 36.7 percent in 2014), they still represent a huge percentage of such offenses in the federal system given that they represent an estimated 3.5 percent of the U.S population. There is available data from the states, though individual states likely have figures.

This includes 20 percent of the kidnapping/hostage taking sentences in 2014 and 12 percent of the murder sentences. Another 19.4 percent of national-defense related sentences are attributed to illegal immigrants.

If you combine both illegal and legal aliens, the population represents almost half of all sentences — 42 percent of all federal sentencing in 2014.

These figures are according to the Washington Examiner and have been reported on other sites. I went and looked at the Sentencing Commission report and confirmed the figure on non-citizens but I could not locate the specific numbers on illegal immigrants. If anyone has a link, it would be great to add it. Here are the general sourcebook tables from the United States Sentencing Commission.

  1. Do we really need illegal immigrants…and more illegal immigrants, on our welfare rolls?

What do illegals bring to this country beside cheap labor?
    Think people, please think!
Think about how illegal immigrants contributed to the creation the corrupt Central American governments and South American governments too.
Think about it, those illegal immigrants who voted got us this president and would love to vote in a socialist like Sanders or a wishy washy Hillary Clinton.
Think about this, illegal immigrants are crowding our jails, creating economic hardship on our educational system, hospitals, and are on the government dole out health care system. They don’t pay enough taxes to cover all that is given to them.

    Yes, let immigrants come–LEGALLY!

  2. Max-1,

THE GRECIAN HORSE IS IN THE CITADEL

“To admit foreigners indiscriminately…would be nothing less than…to admit the Grecian horse into the citadel of our liberty and sovereignty. – Alexander Hamilton

Max, have you ever been to California? California and “Anchor Baby” are synonymous. Do you really believe the American Founders designed the Preamble, Constitution and Bill of Rights (original – subsequent “amendments” are antithetical to Madison et al. and unconstitutional) to allow or otherwise direct an invasion, by overwhelming numbers of the population of a contiguous country under the guise of “immigration?” Have you ever heard of the “injurious tendency” of “discordant intermixture?”

    —–

    Alexander Hamilton

“In the composition of society, the harmony of the ingredients is all-important, and whatever tends to a discordant intermixture must have an injurious tendency.”

It is clear that “discordant intermixture” includes language, ideology, religion, culture, race, morality, ethics
(illegal border crossing, anchor babies, claiming “Reconquista,” proudly, defiantly flying Mexican flags, entitlement, dependency, parasitism), etc.

To admit foreigners indiscriminately to the rights of citizens, the moment they put foot in our country, as recommended in the message, would be nothing less than to admit the Grecian horse into the citadel of our liberty and sovereignty.”

    Alexander Hamilton and Immigration
    By William G. Chrystal

“The safety of a republic depends essentially on the energy of a common national sentiment; on a uniformity of principles and habits; on the exemption of the citizens from foreign bias, and prejudice; and on that love of country which will almost invariably be found to be closely connected with birth, education, and family.

“The opinion advanced in the Notes on Virginia is undoubtedly correct, that foreigners will generally be apt to bring with them attachments to the persons they have left behind; to the country of their nativity, and to its particular customs and manners. They will also entertain opinions on government congenial with those under which they have lived; or, if they should be led hither from a preference to ours, how extremely unlikely is it that they will bring with them that temperate love of liberty, so essential to real republicanism? There may, as to particular individuals, and at particular times, be occasional exceptions to these remarks, yet such is the general rule. The influx of foreigners must, therefore, tend to produce a heterogeneous compound; to change and corrupt the national spirit; to complicate and confound public opinion; to introduce foreign propensities. In the composition of society, the harmony of the ingredients is all-important, and whatever tends to a discordant intermixture must have an injurious tendency.

“The United States have already felt the evils of incorporating a large number of foreigners into their national mass; by promoting in different classes different predilections in favor of particular foreign nations, and antipathies against others, it has served very much to divide the community and to distract our councils. It has been often likely to compromise the interests of our own country in favor of another. The permanent effect of such a policy will be, that in times of great public danger there will be always a numerous body of men, of whom there may be just grounds of distrust; the suspicion alone will weaken the strength of the nation, but their force may be actually employed in assisting an invader.

“In the infancy of the country, with a boundless waste to people, it was politic to give a facility to naturalization; but our situation is now changed. It appears from the last census that we have increased about one third in ten years; after allowing for what we have gained from abroad, it will be quite apparent that the natural progress of our own population is sufficiently rapid for strength, security, and settlement. By what has been said, it is not meant to contend for a total prohibition of the right of citizenship to strangers, nor even for the very long residence which is now a prerequisite to naturalization, and which of itself goes far towards a denial of that privilege. The present law was merely a temporary measure adopted under peculiar circumstances, and perhaps demands revision. But there is a wide difference between closing the door altogether and throwing it entirely open; between a postponement of fourteen years, and an immediate admission to all the rights of citizenship. Some reasonable term ought to be allowed to enable aliens to get rid of foreign and acquire American attachments; to learn the principles and imbibe the spirit of our government; and to admit of a probability at least, of their feeling a real interest in our affairs. A residence of not less than five years ought to be required.

“If the rights of naturalization may be communicated by parts, and it is not perceived why they may not, those peculiar to the conducting of business and the acquisition of property, might with propriety be at once conferred, upon receiving proof, by certain prescribed solemnities, of the intention of the candidates to become citizens; postponing all political privileges to the ultimate term. To admit foreigners indiscriminately to the rights of citizens, the moment they put foot in our country, as recommended in the message, would be nothing less than to admit the Grecian horse into the citadel of our liberty and sovereignty.”

    1. forgotwhoiam – the Reconquista of California is complete. Officially there are more minorities than whites in California. The problem is that whites and blacks do not always vote the same ticket. Not sure the Hillary can unite them.

  3. “WHITE” “GRINGO” “CRACKER” “HONKY” “REDNECK”

    You better stop using the “W”-WORD,” “G”-WORD,” “C”-WORD,” “H”-WORD and “R”-WORD.

or I’m gonna start using the n-word like the very I-am-not-a-natural-born-citizen Obama.

    I am an American.

I’m not a hyphenate, foreigner, illegal alien, anchor baby, “guest worker” or citizen-of-no-country freed slave

    (“Reconstruction Amendments” being unconstitutional).

  4. I’d like to see Donald Trump debate Ted Cruz…
… Who’d be the first to toss out the phrase: “ANCHOR BABY!”

Now THAT would be a drinking party to not miss…

  5. Paul:

“Beast – no sense of humor.” Well, he is a man-eating French wolf or wolf hybrid from the 1700s. Killing over 200 men, women, and children would put a damper on anyone’s sense of humor.

  6. Illegal and legal aliens are being warehoused in federal prisons but most of them do not have the proper legal defense in Federal court.

Illegal aliens are those who have crossed over the borders into this country ILLEGALLY. Breaking the laws and are criminals just by that very fact. These criminals then operate under the table, and outside of the law. Only the most egregious of them get caught. The petty crimes and other crimes that they are committing not just against American Citizens but also on other illegals, who have no one to report these crimes to, are unnumbered and countless.

Legal IMMIGRANTS are not aliens. They are people who have gone through the LEGAL channels to become citizens of the United States. A long and arduous process for which I commend them and they should be proud. They, also, may commit crimes but they are not illegal aliens or aliens at all since they are citizens. Because they are the type of people who play by the rules and follow the laws they are not as likely to become career criminals.

Illegal aliens do not deserve anything from us as a country. Nothing. They do not deserve a “legal defense in Federal Court” because they are ILLEGAL and should be here.

  7. Mexican’s can’t run a taco stand without the “gringo’s” intervention….nuff said

    1. Beast of Gevaudan – gringos cannot run a taco stand without interfevention from gringos.

  8. Let’s not forget that although there are illegal aliens convicted of drug crimes and others but a great percentage of illegal aliens are serving time in federal prisons for crossing the border. How is it fair to those aliens to be subject of the privatization of prisons? How is it fair to the tax payers? Who really benefits from all this? Illegal and legal aliens are being warehoused in federal prisons but most of them do not have the proper legal defense in Federal court.

    1. Romy Defay – to the best of my knowledge, the federal public defenders are excellent. Do you have other information? Something you can cite?

  9. According to the government site above, if someone shows up to vote without the necessary ID, they can cast a provisional ballot. As long as they provide correct ID within 6 days, their vote would count.

So all she had to do was go to the DPS and get an ID within those days.

  10. Correction: Several of the acceptable forms of ID do not show current address, either.

  11. Wow! Compare CA voter ID laws, which just basically require you to show up with absolutely nothing, with TX’s requirements:

    http://www.votetexas.gov/register-to-vote/need-id/

“Here is a list of the acceptable forms of photo ID:

Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS
United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph
United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph
    United States passport
With the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the identification must be current or have expired no more than 60 days before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place.”

So you can present 1 of any 7 acceptable forms of ID, many of which are issued by DPS.

    Exceptions:

“Voters with a disability may apply with the county voter registrar for a permanent exemption. The application must contain written documentation from either the U.S. Social Security Administration evidencing he or she has been determined to have a disability, or from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs evidencing a disability rating of at least 50 percent. In addition, the applicant must state that he or she has no valid form of photo identification. Those who obtain a disability exemption will be allowed to vote by presenting a voter registration certificate reflecting the exemption. Please contact your voter registrar for more details.

Voters who have a consistent religious objection to being photographed and voters who do not have any valid form of photo identification as a result of certain natural disasters as declared by the President of the United States or the Texas Governor, may vote a provisional ballot, appear at the voter registrar’s office within six (6) calendar days after election day, and sign an affidavit swearing to the religious objection or natural disaster, in order for your ballot to be counted. Please contact your county voter registrar for more details.”

Voter ID requirements do not change the process of voting by mail.

There is also assistance available for those who are not fluent in English or need physical assistance.

    Earlier you said:

“Karen, A hispanic friend of my wife who lived in Texas her whole life, could not register to vote because of her ethnic background. She registered THREE times and had her old registration in Dallas removed. Yet Montgomery County refused to put her name on the rolls as a voter Each time she brought her birth certificate, old voter registration card from Dallas, and each time they sent her a notice saying she was not elegible to vote. She did not have a drivers license or DPS ID card, so it turns out they were using DPS to validate voters citizenship when they cannot do it. So despite all the proof she had, at election time we found out she was not on the rolls AGAIN.”

How long ago was this? Birth certificate is not one of the 7 forms of ID listed above, as obviously this would not indicate she lived in the state currently, nor is an old voter registration card. Why did you feel she was turned away because of her ethnicity, or that the DPS database use was illegal, when it is in fact the source of most of the IDs allowed? Did this happen before the law was enacted? The problem with using a birth certificate is that I could travel to any state and claim to live there. The birth certificate would not show my current address. Nor would an old voter registration card. What does any of this have to do with her ethnicity?

You may be right. I’m just asking for more information.

    1. Karen A simple answer is that you missed the fact in my post that she had her old voter registration certificate with her and it was enough to get her taken OFF the rolls in Dallas and in her new address they refused to register her when she submitted a change of address form. I had no problem getting registered even though I had no proof of residence in my new address here, but I am a white male veteran. She is an older Hispanic female. At the time, using DPS as the validating source was ILLEGAL. SEE ANY DIFFERENCE?

  12. Paul – I wonder if AZ has the same rampant ID fraud as CA? Common sources for identity theft rings – people in nursing homes, dead, or people who have moved.

  13. “Karen, You should notice that all the alternate ID forms and registration requirements for voting include a Social Security number which is how the registrar validates the registration. No good SS number, no registration. My friend who was refused her right to vote had it denied because the DPS data base did not have her registered with an ID form. Using the DPS as the vetting agency at the time was ILLEGAL by the way.” Are you talking about TX’s voter ID laws require SSN? That sounds a lot more robust than CA’s. Here is an excerpt from our state website:

“A copy of a recent utility bill, the sample ballot booklet you received from your county elections office, or another document sent to you by a government agency are examples of acceptable forms of identification. Other examples include your passport, driver license, official California identification card, or student identification card.” If you’re an illegal alien, how hard does this sound to vote?

I’m sorry about your friend. If she hasn’t, she should file a complaint to ensure these mistakes are cleaned up. It sounds like they were using the wrong database. Is TX’s Department of Public Safety connected with the DMV?

If you compare the two – TX requiring a photo ID and CA requiring absolutely nothing the vast majority of times, you can see how voter fraud is viewed between the states. There are so many ways to commit voter fraud that there is no one solution; rather we need a variety of safety measures, combined with a vigorous investigation and prosecution of any fraud that does get through. This crime is so rarely punished. There are so many cases where journalists have uncovered hundreds of fraudulent votes in a single afternoon, but CA rarely pursues them. That would be racist and rude. And then those low conviction stats are used to bolster the myth that voter fraud doesn’t happen.

Politics will get as dirty as we allow it to. We should never be so naive as to just assume that any single politician is so morally unassailable that he or she would be above such a thing.
