For those who are already upset about the prospect of the country again being given simply a choice between a Bush or a Clinton in the general election, they might not want to read the recent interview of President George W. Bush and Bill Clinton in Time magazine. In a revealing aside, Bush shrugs off the real significance of the result of the election so long as it is either a Clinton or a Bush: says it really does not matter so long as it is either a Bush or Clinton: “What difference does it make,” he said at the time, “if the order is Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama/Clinton or it is Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama/Bush?” It appears that we have a dynastic democracy.
Many Americans are disgusted with the duopoly of not just the two main parties but the two main families controlling the parties. Like Henry Ford saying that customers can have any color so long as it is black, Bush’s comment also suggests that there really is little difference between which color you pick: blue or red. It is either part of some dynastic game of duopoly.
The two parties seem prepared to ignore the sentiments of most Americans and again force a choice between a Bush and a Clinton. The reason is that most Americans are independents and do not vote in the primary. Moreover, the Bushes and Clintons continue to exercise a huge degree of control over their respective parties. The Clintons particularly have been adept in lining up the establishment figures and party leaders who are still “ready for Hillary.”
Bush seemed to dismiss all those candidates who are mere pretenders to the throne: “I can’t tell you who is going to win, but I can tell you what’s going to happen. There’s kind of a general pattern. And there will be flash in the pans, there will be this crisis, there will be the funding thing. There will be all these things that happen, but eventually the person who can best lead their party will be nominated.”
Notably, Bill Clinton in the same interview insisted that Hillary never thought anyone would be “ready for Hillary.” He says that when he asked her to marry him, he told her that rather than marry him, she should go to Chicago or New York and get into politics. He recounted how she responded that “Oh my God … I’ll never run for office. I’m too aggressive, and nobody will ever vote for me.”
For many critics, the story is particularly ironic since it may be difficult for anyone not to vote for her or a Bush in what is increasingly being called a dynastic democracy.
In another matter:
There appears to be an ongoing effort to force criminal charges against Hillary Clinton for “using a private computer for secret government work” which is apparently a cover for more serious charges.
The outing of John McCain as a traitor and not a war hero is another part of this campaign against these criminals in DC.
How many people here honestly think their vote makes a difference?
Or rather, how many people here honestly think voting is important?
“If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.” ~ Mark Twain
The interesting aspect of the Donald’s run for the Presidency is that he will win either way. If he became President, after all Americans did elect the little cowboy, twice, he will be able to work that until the day he dies. There will be TV shows every night of the week based on his knowledge of the Presidency. If he loses then the same thing but only lamer. None of the other candidates can spin this experience into money and self adulation as well as the Donald. It is almost worth voting for him to see what happens. After all, we survived the three stooges and that was no small deal. Of course we did have an intelligent President to follow up and pretty much save the day. To really appreciate Obama, think Bush.
Bush #1 was a pisser and Bush #2 was crap…
To claim we have a democratic history is almost pure propaganda. Haha I’d rather be called radical than an intellectual
in law and politics. Truth and reason > nationalism and propaganda
The DIFFERENCE is that Trump buys himself.
By new guy I meant The Donald.
We folks from Remulak think of America as a nation state with a history of royalty and so the Bush dynasty thing is really consonant with the nature of the beasts here. I was sent down here once before back in the JFK years and saw all the drooling over the royal family then. That was when “My brudda Bobby” was next in line. Except he got shot. From my view this new guy has a good chance of winning the Republican nomination and then beating Hillary.
Dynastic Democracy, eh? Kind of like our proletarian aristocrats?
Yeah, in one way I’d like to see a Trump presidency too, just to see Republicans go bat poop crazy.
“At this point, what difference does it make!!!” Said an infamous old bat.

Truly a phrase which sums up the incredibly sad state of affairs in our political arena. We are well and completely f*cked as a country. Past the tipping point. Cammed over. No return. What difference does it make.
Actually, I would almost like to see a Donald Trump Presidency. How much WORSE could he possibly be than Obama or a Hillary Clinton or a Jeb Bush. It couldn’t BE worse, so we might as well get some enjoyment and amusement out of the ride to h#ll that we are being forced into.

Steve F: G.W. flew F16s, why don’t you give it a try?
People talk about a lame duck President. We have a lame duck Congress. They take long vacations and days off and cannot address the major issues. We need some President who will take more power away from the lame ducks in Congress. It does not take a dog’s breakfast to understand this. So who offers the voters the best attributes? It is The Donald. No one else has the force, grit and gumption. We dont need a spouse or son or brother of a former President. Another Obama from out of the blue would be good be he/she is not there even on the horizon. This leaves us with one choice and its not an echo (get it? Bush and Clinton are echos). Phyllis Schlafly is still alive and I want to know who she will vote for in the RepubliCon Primary. If she votes for The Donald and he wins then I will vote for The Donald and not Hillary the 8th.
[music- to Hermit and the Hermits song: Henry The 8th]
I’m Hillary the 8th I am!
Hillary the 8th I am I am.
I got married to the widower next door.
He’s been married seven times before and
Everyone was a Hillary.
If wouldn’t be a Willy or a Fred.
For there ain’t no Choice like Hillary!
Hillary the 8th I am!
–end. Second verse worse than the first.
So we have some choices out there but one stands out to me and it is not an echo. The Donald.
I predict: U.S. national politics will, within my lifetime, cease to matter completely because a majority of our laws will be mandated by a supra-national entity such as the United Nations, the IMF, or the World Bank, or by international treaties.
Just as Greece has given up its sovereignty today, our day will come too.
The one who can best lead his or her party seems to be the root of the problem. The more consolidated each side, the more polarized the system. Perhaps the fracturing of the Republican party should be viewed as a good thing and an indication of the best direction for American politics. Just as with the transition from parasitically controlled private, for profit, health care to government administered single payer two tier health care the change over is and will be a dog’s breakfast. This is due to the polarity of Americans, the us and them stance as well as simply having left it too long.
This present political quagmire presents opportunities as well. Instead of pushing to unite the Presidency with a party, the most progressive approach would be to have the Presidency disassociated with either party. A person should run for this office as an independent only. If we are to have a king, and that is what the President is for a minimum of four years, then make him or her truly unique. An independent President can act as an arbiter between the two sides and perhaps even present the opportunity for the necessary other two parties.
Most of what ails America today lies in the fact that the issues cannot be dealt with individually because they are bundled to be used in a political arsenal. If the issue of health care insurance were to surface and be addressed by three independent and non integral perspectives, perhaps the obvious solution would materialize.
Some of the powers of the Presidency could be reduced and others could be enhanced. The structure would take time to
develop and as it should be would be subject to adjustment over time. The primary problem of the US is that it is so fixed in its ways it cannot adjust for the changes. Most successful democratic nations have evolved from an us or them war footing to a realistic representation of the people reflected in their political structure. The fear of change should be replaced with a confidence of being able to change.
It won’t be Jeb. It will be Trump on the Republican side. Maybe Hillary on the Democrat side if she does not get caught with her skirt down on some email “scandal” as it is called on this blog.

TRUMP!
A President seems to be only a scapegoat to blame for everything that one doesn’t like about anything. It’s all the President’s fault. We know now that it doesn’t matter if we have a slow, poor student, goof-off rich kid or a constitutional scholar who pulled himself up by his own bootstraps. They both facilitate carnage around the world and destruction of the environment for short-term profits for supporters. That’s not what voters want. Many will stay home unless the system changes. Many will vote for a third party if that option is available.
The “Big Government Party” and the two options to finish this thing off. Nicely done!
I always knew that Bush 2 isn’t real smart, but now I am concluding that he is stupid.
