“Silly Piggies Tricks R For U”: New Jersey Woman Arrested For False Assault Report To Avoid DUI Stop

images-1If the allegations are proven, Hayley Oates, 25, have succeeded in combining virtually every bad trait into one dysfunctional personality. Oates allegedly wanted to drive home drunk but was sober enough to worry about a DUI stop. While most people would opt to take a cab or order coffee, Oates decided to call 911 to report an assault in another location to draw officers away from her route home. She then added stupidity to dishonesty and dipsomania by taunting the police on social media with a message “lmao.. 2 mins later the cop peals out.. silly piggies tricks r for u.” No, dear Oates, tricks are for you . . . it appears that police read social media.

Oates made her call in Wayne, New Jersey at 3:15 am from the Grasshopper Bar & Grill where she and a companion waited to drive home. She reported an assault of a woman in the parking lot of Mothers Ale House some distance away. She got away with it as police rushed to the scene only to find it was a hoax. It was later that the police saw the taunt for “silly piggies”.

She now faces charges of filing false reports to law enforcement and creating false public alarm.

This is a remarkably odious crime since officers and even pedestrians have been killed as police rush to a scene to stop a crime. It also removes officers from areas where real crimes are occurring.

  1. That reminds me of a story.

I would like to share an experience regarding drinking and driving. As you know, some of us have been pretty lucky not to have had a brush with the authorities on our way from various social gatherings over the years. One night, I had gone out for a few drinks with friends and had a few too many beers then topping it off with a margarita. Not a good idea. Knowing full well I was probably over the legal limit, I did something I’ve never done before, I took a taxi home. Sure enough just down the road I passed a DUI road block but because it was a taxi, they waved it through. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise, I have never driven a taxi before and not sure where I got it from.

  2. I think hundreds of people do this – making false reports to get away with something or harm someone else. My husband’s ex did it to us all the time and the cops never cared they were being used to harass us. She never got punished once. Glad someone got put in the slammer for doing it.

  3. Thousands of social media posts go out daily every hour in every city. How did they find her posts? Or do they just hack into all the accounts of arrestees or “people of interest”? Granted this woman may have posted her taunt publicly instead of to friends only. But I must say it is a little disconcerting to not know to what lengths your local (okay, nothing is local anymore) police force. If you are arrested can they look into all your phone records without a warrant? All your FB postings without being a friend? How about the messages sent to your friends via snail mail?

  4. She’s only 25? Wow, in her booking photo she appears significantly older. She definitely should lay off the booze and try to restore her health, if it’s not too late…..
