We previously featured beleaguering Missouri Professor Melissa Click who generated controversy by obstructing a student journalist and calling in “muscle” to push him away; denying his first amendment rights. She was later videotaped in another incident yelling at police officers while blocking a protest at a homecoming parade.
After the former incident, she was charged with assault.
Now, the Missouri Board of Curators voted 4-2 to terminate Assistant Professor Click’s employment. Since late January she was on paid administrative leave
Chairwoman Pam Henrickson in a public statement explained the firing:
“The board respects Dr. Click’s right to express her views and does not base this decision on her support for students engaged in protest or their views. However, Dr. Click was not entitled to interfere with the rights of others, to confront members of law enforcement or to encourage potential physical intimidation against a student.”
Interim Chancellor Hank Foley further elaborated:
“The process the Board of Curators used to reach a determination about Dr. Click’s employment at the university is not typical — but these have been extraordinary times in our university’s history, and I am in complete agreement with the board that the termination of Dr. Click is in the best interest of our university. Her actions in October and November are those that directly violate the core values of our university. I can assure you — as Board Chairwoman Henrickson noted — that there has been fairness in this process and investigation.”

In homage to Obama’s description of Trayvon Martin: If Obama had a red-headed daughter, she’d look like Click…
Thanks, JR.
@ Shadow,
Excellent analysis.
The problem is she was the “adult” in the situation. And there are “fighting words” post nam ppl might not get. When ppl are in close proximity words can easily lead to battery. For all we know she might have sent the reporter out of a thumping situation. Had she looked and ignored he might have been thumped. And then she’d be fired. For failure to protect the ” student” reporter. It isn’t like she called for “muscle” against waters of fox news, no matter how juvenile he is. She called for ” muscle”….ie security…if i felt a melee coming on i would have too. And would have the police. But a fortori….it was a journalist major.
Ward Churchill was, as you say, fired for academic misconduct. The university wouldn’t have creds if it continued employing a professor who committed plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification. So, of course they fired him. To do otherwise would reflect on them and their profession. I agree with their decision. I doubt there are many “right-wing” professors who would have defended a “right-wing” professor guilty of the same academic behavior.
The faculty senate chose not to convict Churchill for his post-911 comments and essays that attempted to justify the violence. They decided these comments were covered under the umbrella of academic freedom. I agree with this decision too.
The difference between Churchill and Click, of course, is that Churchill attempted to justify the violence of 911 after the fact — he had nothing to do with it — while Click attempted to cause violence.
I went all the way from New Orleans to Kallamazoo and I never saw one bitch like the one from Mizzou.
Despite the ignorant and stupid biases I see here against university professors, ALL of the left wing profs who I know and talk to do not support such things as this deranged woman was doing. While I have not discussed this particular case, I did talk with them about the Ward Churchill case a few years ago. They ALL agreed with what the U of Colorado did in kicking him out despite his having tenure. His academic misconduct was so gross that the Faculty Senate ruled against him, and he was gone.
At the time I was flying a lot out of DEN, and I wrote to the FAA, TSA, and our chief pilot informing them that I would refuse to allow Churchill to board any flight that I was a captain of. I also urged other pilots to do the same. The right wing nuts are nuts because they believe their own propaganda.
It feels really good to be seen having this kind of accountability. A lost job! Gee! Who woulda thunk it? Now, if only our politicians could find a way to fire a few Federal employees who misbehave . . . . .
Please don’t worry about Melissa Click. She will be getting a job with the Clinton campaign. They like her attitude and say they could use more like her.
Ralph Adamo – I think you are right. Now we have the President yelling at a vet and having him dragged out of his speech, still not answering his question. Click could call for muscle for Hillary. She likes to be surrounded by women. Maybe she would like a red-head for a change.

Well, parts of the state could’ve been the location for shooting Deliverance. Hope that you and the little lady didn’t take any wrong turns while you were traveling through them. They don’t take kindly to strangers.
@bam bam
My daughter went to Mizzou in the mid 2000s.
We travelled a lot of the state as a result.
Good average folks are getting shafted by the runaway train of PC university.
They have to pay for their kids to learn to resent America and hate the white skinned people.
@Riesling
Thanks!!! It is good to get feedback, and know that somebody actually reads these little things.

Excellent, Squeeky! Love your creativity. And you give us some much-needed culture 😊.
Well, now that I am awake and sober, let me try some new Click Poetry. This is based on the old poem, Woodman, Spare That Tree by George Pope Morris. I think this goofy b—h has become totally personally invested in silly black movements, like BLM, which is IMHO is the very ultimate in White Privilege. Anyway,
REPORTER, Spare Those Negroes!
A Parody Poem by Squeeky Fromm
REPORTER, spare those Negroes!
Speaketh not thy clatter!
Perhaps they make no sense,
But oh!, Black Lives Matter!
Plus, don’t report on me!
Or limn this racial hustle!
Go away REPORTER!
Hey, can I get some muscle???
And those poor Negroes, there!
I think they are groovy!
Plus, Theatre Students,
Can stage a Tarzan Movie!
I think I have tenure,
Therefore, I have moxie!
Plus, I like attention.

131. Woodman, Spare That Tree!
By George Pope Morris
WOODMAN, spare that tree!
Touch not a single bough!
In youth it sheltered me,
And I ’ll protect it now.
’T was my forefather’s hand 5
That placed it near his cot;
There, woodman, let it stand,
Thy axe shall harm it not.
