Embattled Missouri Communications Professor Sacked

By Darren Smith, Weekend Contributor

Screen-Shot-2015-11-10-at-6.41.56-PM-620x375We previously featured beleaguering Missouri Professor Melissa Click who generated controversy by obstructing a student journalist and calling in “muscle” to push him away; denying his first amendment rights.  She was later videotaped in another incident yelling at police officers while blocking a protest at a homecoming parade.

After the former incident, she was charged with assault.

Now, the Missouri Board of Curators voted 4-2 to terminate Assistant Professor Click’s employment. Since late January she was on paid administrative leave

Chairwoman Pam Henrickson in a public statement explained the firing:

“The board respects Dr. Click’s right to express her views and does not base this decision on her support for students engaged in protest or their views. However, Dr. Click was not entitled to interfere with the rights of others, to confront members of law enforcement or to encourage potential physical intimidation against a student.”

Interim Chancellor Hank Foley further elaborated:

“The process the Board of Curators used to reach a determination about Dr. Click’s employment at the university is not typical — but these have been extraordinary times in our university’s history, and I am in complete agreement with the board that the termination of Dr. Click is in the best interest of our university. Her actions in October and November are those that directly violate the core values of our university. I can assure you — as Board Chairwoman Henrickson noted — that there has been fairness in this process and investigation.”

  1. The Education Industry take care of their own. She’ll be hired by someone soon.

  2. I am surprised they terminated her. I had expected them to find a way to protect her. The second tape was the final hammer, I think.

  3. KCF

Hey, hey, hey there, mister. I’ll have you know that this Missouri-taxpaying-schlub–moi–does not sport a unibrow!

  4. Well, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that she was not tenured yet, at least that is my understanding.

    Horruss:

“This was an extraordinary example of reckless political bullying by right wing Republicans in the legislature putting pressure on a cowardly and inept University Board.” Just to make sure I understand you, are you saying that those who condemned her actions and recommended her firing are all Republicans? There are no Democrats out there who thought a communications professor assaulting and threatening a journalism student from engaging in journalism, on campus, threatening him with some “muscle”, was reprehensible? No Democratic parents who thought this lady should not be teaching their kids? Who wouldn’t want their kids harmed or threatened by her in the future?

Funny. Professor Turley is a Democrat, and he wrote about her behavior at length.

If this was a white male professor threatening a black female journalism student, calling for “muscle” to go deal with her, would you have the same position that some public embarrassment is sufficient, and he should be allowed to continue to teach black female students?

  5. Who could have predicted that a mentally ill feminist with a degree in Resentment Studies would be an illiberal fascist when she gets to be a professor?

Most universities are entirely composed of people like her. Her only problem was that the Missouri schlubs paying her salary (I.e., the unibrow taxpayers) weren’t supposed to see the university sausage getting made.

She’s rightfully shocked because she probably thought she was the least fascist among the faculty.
    Probably true.

    Universitas delenda est.

  6. This AW (Ass Wipe) is just one of many who spend more time radicalizing students rather than offering a good education. I am sure if you asked any of her students what a Socialist is they would tell you it’s a person who uses Twitter or Facebook. Bring back the draft it was the best educator a young man or woman could recieve. Drill Sgt Roundtree of Fort Dix NJ (1965) an African-American was far more intelligent an instructor than most professors in universities today.

  7. Students at both public and private institutions of higher learning in America are paying rapidly increasing tuition for the privilege. Students are held to a code of conduct and civility, and, political correctness is regularly enforced upon them, This professor acted in a bullying, uncivil and violence promoting manner. This had nothing to do with her protected free speech.Kudos to the school for getting this right!

  8. Our society needs jesters and fools to prance around. In the royal courts of centuries ago they were permitted to criticize the king or queen and government because they did it in/with jest and were, by their get up, gone in the head. Their performances might have been to entertain, surface an issue no one else had the minerals to mention, or both. Click is a university fool. Back in the sixties they used to advocate communism and applauded China. The US and most of the west was not without fault. The US was committing its own crimes in Vietnam and with racism. The university environment was the place for a soap box and jesters and fools expounding stuff that was on the money, off the beam, but often times hard to tell the difference. As in ancient times, the fools or jesters should never be given posts as ministers or teachers. Yet we have the circus in Washington. Jim Inhofe comes to mind. Let’s go outside for a snowball fight.

  9. Whatever her nutjob beliefs, she is a liability to this university. Kudos to the school for getting this right.

  10. “This was an extraordinary example of reckless political bullying by right wing Republicans… denied employment over what was, at most, very poor judgment in a chaotic and stressful moment for all involved.”

Poor judgement doesn’t begin to describe what this woman did. She outright threatened a student journalist with bodily harm. She interfered with police. She clearly doesn’t have the temperament, perspective, judgement or common sense to be an instructor. She has no business teaching young adults her unique viewpoints on life.

She did however perform a valuable service. Now we have a poster child for the term SJW. And it’s not a pretty picture.

  11. Watch this crazy lady NYC subway attack video. There’s been an up tick in face slashing knife incidents in the NYC subways. All unprovoked. What provoked Click?

  12. This was an extraordinary example of reckless political bullying by right wing Republicans in the legislature putting pressure on a cowardly and inept University Board. What they really wanted was to go after the black students that this woman was so concerned with protecting while making some very bad judgments. Bu since it would make them look bad they could only go after this essentially powerless professor. She had already been publicly and professionally humiliated and condemned. But the right wing harpees would not rest until she was denied employment over what was, at most, very poor judgment in a chaotic and stressful moment for all involved. The last thing needed was grandstanding legislators interfering in university business and that is precisely what happened.

  14. This is better for Melissa and the world! Now Melissa Click is free like a bird, so Hillary can nominate Melissa for Secretary of the Department of Sympathy for the Female Gender!

  15. Free Squeeky Fromme! Finally, this shrill wench has been shown the door. OMG, did I just microagress using terminology normally attached to those belonging to the female gender? OMG, I just made the fatal mistake of mentioning that the suspect is attached to one of many genders. OMG, I just mentioned gender! Dante Aligheri, where are you when I need you? Next circle. Which circle are you destined for, sir? OMG, the elevator operator to Hell said Sir. Boy (oops), is he (oops) in for something. Good night.

  16. Oh my! What a dingbat! But then again, those pesky Homecoming Parades are enough to send anybody over the edge. . .I would do an Irish Poem, but I have had a few drinks, and who knows how it would turn out. Oh, what the heck! Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there.

    Mo Power To You???
An Irish Poem by Squeeky Fromm

There once was a lady named Click.
    Who hated the Homecoming schtick.
    She thought that the Queen,
    Was gross and obscene,
Sooo, she cussed out the popo! Hic!

    There! That rhymes!
