Three black female college students in Albany have been accused of assault after originally claiming they had been the victims of a racist attack from “10-12 white men” on a city bus. The alleged attack happened on January 30th and Ariel Agudio, Alexis Briggs and Asha Burwell (all 20) claimed that they were the victims of a racist attack. However, after the videotape was reviewed the police found that it was the three students who allegedly initiated the attack and then participated in rallies denouncing racism in America. Hillary Clinton tweeted support for the women in their claim as victims of racist.
Investigators say a review of multiple videos of the incident showed no evidence the women were victims of a crime or subjected to racial slurs. In fact, police said the women were the aggressors, assaulting a 19-year-old white woman. The white men involved claimed assaulted them were actually trying to break up the fight. The police concluded that “[t]he evidence indicates they were actually the aggressors in the physical altercation, and that they continued to assault the victim despite the efforts of several passengers to stop them.”
University of Albany officials announced that two of the women, Ariel Agudio and Asha Burwell, have been charged with misdemeanor assault and falsely reporting an incident. The third woman, Alexis Briggs, has been charged with misdemeanor assault.
One of the students, Asha Burwell, was due to graduate in 2017 and is pre-law. She and her friends reportedly said that up to a dozen “white men” attacked them without cause. Burwell, a junior from Long Island and student manager of the women’s basketball team, tweeted “I just got jumped on a bus while people hit us and called us the ‘n’ word and NO ONE helped us.”
In addition to the message from Clinton, the President of the University issued the following statement:
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
Early this morning, three of our students were harassed and assaulted while riding on a CDTA bus on Western Ave. in Albany.
The students, who are Black women, stated that racial slurs were used by the perpetrators, whom they described as a group of 10 to 12 white males and females.
I am deeply concerned, saddened and angry about this incident. There is no place in the UAlbany community for violence, no place for racial intolerance and no place for gender violence.
I am out of town today. I have decided to cut my trip short and will be returning to Albany as soon as I can to address this situation.
In the meantime, I have been in direct contact with the Provost and executive leadership team and have directed that the University respond rapidly and forcefully.
Our police, our student affairs personnel and our Office of Diversity and Inclusion staff are working together to support our young women.
We are working closely with the Albany Police Department to identify the persons responsible. If those individuals are UAlbany students, we will hold them fully accountable for their behavior.
I call upon all members of the University at Albany to unite. We must show the world that we stand for inclusiveness and stand against bias, violence and hatred.
Our annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration will be held on the evening of Monday, Feb. 1. As we reflect on the principles and values that Dr. King stood for, let us come together in solidarity to reaffirm our values.
Now is the time to recommit to our principles of inclusivity and diversity and send a strong message that we will not tolerate bias, hatred and violence in our University.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Jones
President
Jones later said that the false statements of the women were “unsettling.”
Here is the videotape and it certainly appears to contradict the claims of the three students that they were attacked by 10-12 white men.
The charges are only misdemeanors which seem a bit light for an assault on a bus and then falsely accusing others of a hate crime. However, Burwell’s interest in becoming a lawyer would be more challenging and unlikely if she is convicted of these charges.
Even if their claims were true, I don’t really understand why this is a U of A issue since they were on a public bus.
But here is the key statement…
Robert J. Jones- “If those individuals are UAlbany students, we will hold them fully accountable for their behavior.”
Gee, I wonder now that it is all a lie, will these three black students be held fully accountable for their behavior? I’m not holding me breath.
Chris Rock unsettled all the limo liberals in Hollywood w/ his superb monologue @ the Oscars. It is must viewing. He would rip these 3 liars a new one if he saw this.
What if the people they falsely accused were students at the university? If their lies had not been discovered, would a dozen people have been dismissed from school, future ruined?
What is the university’s next step? There has been a lot of discussion on what, if any, action a university should take if its students either break the law or rules of conduct. IF their lies involved other students, in an attempt to get innocent people kicked out of school and sent to jail, then I believe they should be expelled from the university program. If the victims were not students, then I am interested to know what universities do in such cases. Would they be exposing other students to a possible repeat exposure to these women, who are obviously a danger to others? What if they did this again, and there was no video next time?
Isaac,
If you hold to the belief that one of the three black women tells the truth, then you must believe she is stupid enough to go back for more criminal battery by a dozen angry white male racists, when she clearly had a clear exit path to run away and exit the bus.
Per this woman’s report, she is the victim of a criminal battery committed by twelve angry white adult males vs. one innocent black female victim. By the flailing of the latter’s hands any sane person is clear the latter is not a trained fighter.
Kindly enlighten the audience how and why this alleged victim did not suffer apparent gross physical injury requiring hospitalization directly resulting from this alleged criminal battery. Please include accounting of the 12-1 disparity in sides during this battery.
Falsely accusing someone you hate has been going on since well before the Salem Witch Trials.
I suppose the silver lining is that if so many people have to resort to completely fabricating racist attacks, real attacks must be on the decline.
Clearly, racism against whites needs to be condemned in the black community. These troubled young women would have sent complete strangers to jail for a crime they did not commit for no other reason than the color of their skin. Sickening. I hope, if this is true, that they are convicted, and Burwell’s only time in a courtroom is as a defendant. We do not need lying, racist lawyers in our society.
Tawana Brawley was the beginning of black lies matter.
We have to keep pushing truth over lies and propaganda. The sad thing is, when you base your indignation on lies, you lose the argument and your voice will be ignored.
The leaders of ‘civil rights’ movements looked deep within themselves, and decided they would rather be judged by the color of their skin, and not the content of their character.

Hop on the bus Gus!
Throw away the key, Lee!
We see this over and over again; faked hate crimes because so many idiots from the President on down jump in before the facts are out and make heroes of these “victims.” And once they are exposed….silence. It never ceases to amaze me how readily people fall for this…it’s as though they want it to be true and are disappointed when it turns out to be a big farce.
The white male students who were attacked should sue the university and it’s president for defamation and gender discrimination. They were pronounced guilty before any investigation.
TP, it’s remarkable that you thought of Morgan Freeman regarding racism in America. I too was reminded of Morgan Freeman, but in his role as the judge in the movie “Bonfire of the Vanities.” Interestingly, in the book, the judge was originally a Jew, but the role was changed to an African-American. (Are you listening, phony Hollywood race-hustlers?) Here is the great scene toward the end which pulls everything together:

The film flopped at the Box Office, even though it had a first-rate script, excellent direction, and a great cast. The reason it flopped is obvious. American know that the US is filled with racist double-standards and Americans lack simple decency. The last thing they would want to hear is to be reminded of those facts, even if presented in the form of excellent entertainment.
Sharpton just missed out on another ” Tawana ” opportunity.

I like Colin Flaherty, too! I bought his book, about Don’t Make the Black Kids Angry. I can’t wait to see Tommy Sotomayor’s take on this. He can’t stand black women, anyway, and stuff like this sends him in to Epic Rant Land.

@Paul C. Schulte they’re taught that racism exists, that #blacklivesmatter is very important, among other stuff.
You should at least look up some of the stuff where black men claim they’re “Israelites”, and urge everyone to abandon their churches, their mosques, etc. to join their little band of Israelites. It’s very incredibly mind-blowing that we’re seeing people like this using religion to their own advantage.
Morgan Freeman, in one video, expounded on one thing regarding racism:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2d2SzRZvsQ
Did any of the blacks at their community or colleges ever listen to Freeman? No. Unfortunately, no.
Give me *one* extremely good, hard to pass up, incredibly mind-blowing reason to breed with these crazy women. Just *one* please.
I’ll bet you $50 dollars right now there isn’t any.
Despite the fact I live in a State where authorities are very incredibly strict with others, I find myself being more compelled to look for more White women to marry rather than having to marry those outside of my own race. It isn’t due to being a racist. It’s due to sh!t like this that women, of other races, pull.
Granted, while white women did pull incredibly outlandish crap, they couldn’t be any stupid like these black women on the video, crying about being raped.
TBH, this video does remind me of that video where a throng of black men beat the ever living crap out of a white man, who was dating one of their own, a black woman! This video does little to prove to me that blacks could change, even if whites were around.
We keep seeing these made up “racist” attacks. What is it that either is being taught in the black community or on our campuses that makes these girls think they can get away with this?
BS Turley. You can’t make out anything from this video. You should join Rubio.
