“The Mystery Emails”: State Department Report References Key Emails That Were Not Previously Turned Over [UPDATED]

Hillary_Clinton_Testimony_to_House_Select_Committee_on_BenghaziHillary Clinton agreed to a brief interview on the stinging rebuke found in the Inspector General Report that we discussed yesterday. The interview lacks questions on most of the contradictions that we discussed and Clinton insists that the report actually vindicates her — a truly breathtaking spin. Unfortunately, the reporter seemed to move as quickly as possible away from the report to turn to Donald Trump — with no follow up questions. However, there is a far more intriguing issue raised by the emails discussed in the report. Some of the emails revealed that Clinton believed that her personal, unsecure server had been hacked and she stated her desire to use a separate system to protect her personal emails from review — both serious contradictions to prior statements. Yet, the November 2010 reportedly was not among those turned over to the State Department. Indeed, at least three emails had not been seen before. Clinton previously insisted that all work related emails were turned over while her staff deleted personal emails.

Now 14 months later, the concerns over the criteria and motivations of the Clinton staff in deleting emails have been magnified since these emails were clearly work related. They appear to have come from the four former top Clinton aides after the State Department reconstructed communications lost by the prior deletions. It is not clear why (if these emails were not turned over) the State Department did not address their deletions or withholding in the Clinton emails.

What is particularly concerning are the prior demands for production from the Senate. Senate investigators say that they were never given these highly material emails. Thus, even though they would feature prominently in the State Department report, they were never turned over to the Senate. So there is the question of whether Clinton turned over the emails to the State Department and the additional question of why the emails were not turned over to Congress.

The emails were from one of the four key aides: Clinton’s former chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, and top aides Huma Abedin, Jake Sullivan and Philippe Reines. Abedin authored the key email in November 2010 that provoked Clinton’s concerns about outsiders obtaining her personal emails. Clinton tried to send the email to all department employees but it was blocked by the spam filter because she was using a personal server. Abedin suggested using an official email or make her private address available to the agency. Clinton said that she didn’t want “any risk of the personal being accessible.” Clinton never agreed to use an official State Department address despite being told of the risks of using private emails.

The “mystery emails” have caused a stir in the Senate and some media.

Update: the State Department is now saying that it does not know why the emails were not included in those turned over by Clinton. That is a rather matter-of-fact admission given the representation that all work-related emails were turned over and not deleted.  That would also be a serious violation of the rules governing federal records.  Yet, there appears little follow up by reporters on the issue and a surprising failure of the State Department to raise the question of whether the emails were “scrubbed” by Clinton staffers to delete such potentially incriminating or embarrassing emails.

  1. I looked up Hillary on wikipedia. She would not have had sex with a dog back in high school because back then she was a Barry Goldwater Republican. Look at this clip from wikipedia:

As a child, Rodham was a teacher’s favorite at her public schools in Park Ridge.[10][11] She participated in sports, such as swimming and baseball, and earned numerous awards as a Brownie and as a Girl Scout.[10][11] She attended Maine East High School, where she participated in student council, the school newspaper, and was selected for National Honor Society.[2][12] For her senior year, she was redistricted to Maine South High School, where she was a National Merit Finalist and graduated in the top five percent of her class of 1965.[12][13] Her mother wanted her to have an independent, professional career,[8] and her father, otherwise a traditionalist, felt that his daughter’s abilities and opportunities should not be limited by gender.[14]

Raised in a politically conservative household,[8] Rodham helped canvass Chicago’s South Side at age thirteen following the very close 1960 U.S. presidential election, where she found evidence of electoral fraud against Republican candidate Richard Nixon.[15] She then volunteered to campaign for Republican candidate Barry Goldwater in the U.S. presidential election of 1964.[16] Rodham’s early political development was shaped most by her high school history teacher (like her father, a fervent anticommunist), who introduced her to Goldwater’s The Conscience of a Conservative, and by her Methodist youth minister (like her mother, concerned with issues of social justice), with whom she saw, and afterwards briefly met, civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. at a 1962 speech in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall.[17]
    –end.

When and where she “went South” is of course for further review but something turned her into a democrat toad. Maybe the dog event was later in life– probably after she hooked up with Bill.

  2. We are a constitutional republic on paper but a utilitarian republic in reality. We could possibly survive that in a society that predominantly believed in moral absolutes but that ship sailed decades ago. The Clintons are disgusting human beings but that’s not the worst part, there is actually people in this country and around the world that support them. When Clinton dodges prosecution on this, what is left of our constitutional protections will be gone.

  3. If I “out” myself I would show my dong. No. I am not a Hillary troll and I am for Trump. What I can not stand the most about Hillary is the photos of her. So even tho the photos disparage her and are good for Trump, it is too difficult to read the blog and have to look at them. I did ask a question and that was whether she did or did not have a sex tryst with a dog back in her days as a high school student. Anyone know about that?

  4. Oh yes, “On June 16, 1994, Judge Sullivan was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve as United States District Judge for the District of Columbia” He is the judge that just sealed all video depositions in the Clinton Email case. Recusing oneself has become so passé. As Bradly Manning knows well, after six years in the slammer for a huge personal sacrifice to call out corruption, only the powerful working for selfish corrupt ends get a free pass.

Slithery Hillary… she makes Carl Rove blush.

  5. Do we have laws or not?

If not, if all we have are rules to be employed against Undesirables, she will not be charged.

If not, expect the average joes and janes to realize they are chumps for complying with the mountain of federal and state regs.

You think that is unlikely ?

When leaders cheat, followers … follow May 22, 2016
“The trust that underlies a law-abiding society is rotting away thanks to double-dealing in Washington.”

  6. One need not worry about Clinton. She is getting all the help possible and her breathtaking disdain for all this chattering by the plebs over her divine right to do anything she wants, start any wars she wants, have anyone killed she wants as in Honduras, will prevail as has her utter contempt for the democratic process.

Why should the judicial system be any different?

  7. More Hillary closet junk: Law and order…..Obey!

When Clinton left office in 2001, the United States had the highest rate of incarceration in the world. Human Rights Watch reported that in seven states, African Americans constituted 80 to 90 percent of all drug offenders sent to prison, even though they were no more likely than whites to use or sell illegal drugs. Prison admissions for drug offenses reached a level in 2000 for African Americans more than 26 times the level in 1983. All of the presidents since 1980 have contributed to mass incarceration, but as Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson recently observed, “President Clinton’s tenure was the worst.”

Some might argue that it’s unfair to judge Hillary Clinton for the policies her husband championed years ago. But Hillary wasn’t picking out china while she was first lady. She bravely broke the mold and redefined that job in ways no woman ever had before. She not only campaigned for Bill; she also wielded power and significant influence once he was elected, lobbying for legislation and other measures. That record, and her statements from that era, should be scrutinized. In her support for the 1994 crime bill, for example, she used racially coded rhetoric to cast black children as animals. “They are not just gangs of kids anymore,” she said. “They are often the kinds of kids that are called ‘super-predators.’ No conscience, no empathy. We can talk about why they ended up that way, but first we have to bring them to heel.”

  8. It is becoming more and more apparent that for most Americans, at least almost all on this blog, the US system of electing representatives and their behavior while in office stands for entertainment. Turley fuels a fire just before it turns to dying embers and the mob moves to action stations to create a TV villain. Perhaps Trump should be elected President. That way the morons that make up a huge portion of the population will really have a show. Newspaper sales will rise. TV viewing will rise. It will be just like watching a catastrophe unfolding in a never ending loop. The accident will repeat itself over and over and the population will sit glued to the site waiting for some small unique element to appear, something to break the monotony of nonsense. Even Trump is getting boring. He has blurted, bayed, and spewed just about every foolish statement available. Trump is a train wreck that will continue for 4 years. But let’s work on Hillary to vent our spleens. What a disgusting circus.

    1. issac – I know you are a progressive, so your version of who Trump is is going to be colored. However, with 5 states left to vote he has already set the record for primary voters for the Republican Party. He drives Hillary crazy because he is going to come straight at her. He is not going to pussy foot around like Sanders.

  9. The two candidates, Hillary and Trump, are far different. Yet there are two words bandied about which are supposed to speak for the same item but are vastly different. One word is thrown out about Hillary. Another word is sort of tossed about by Trump. A lot of people say that Hillary is full of “crap”. Trump is said to be throwing “turds” hither and yon. But never the twain shall meet.
I did not know that Hillary is said to have had sex with a dog. That would not necessarily vilify a dog. Maybe the dog did not consent. To report that she did so is kind of like throwing turds. But it does not mean that the reporter is a dog hater. Those of us who love dogs might want to know if dogs were being abused like that.
But I will not throw any turds and say that she did, or did not, have sex with a dog. But I will say that she is full of crap. I apologize for the cuss words.

  10. Why is it necessary for this to become a forum for dog-haters like EltonLongDong?

  11. More Hillary closet junk:

Hillary Clinton admits role in Honduran coup aftermath

First, the confession: Clinton admits that she used the power of her office to make sure that Zelaya would not return to office. “In the subsequent days [after the coup] I spoke with my counterparts around the hemisphere, including Secretary [Patricia] Espinosa in Mexico,” Clinton writes. “We strategized on a plan to restore order in Honduras and ensure that free and fair elections could be held quickly and legitimately, which would render the question of Zelaya moot.”

The question of Zelaya was anything but moot. Latin American leaders, the United Nations General Assembly and other international bodies vehemently demanded his immediate return to office. Clinton’s defiant and anti-democratic stance spurred a downward slide in U.S. relations with several Latin American countries, which has continued. It eroded the warm welcome and benefit of the doubt that even the leftist governments in region offered to the newly installed Obama administration a few months earlier.

Clinton’s false testimony is even more revealing. She reports that Zelaya was arrested amid “fears that he was preparing to circumvent the constitution and extend his term in office.” This is simply not true. As Clinton must know, when Zelaya was kidnapped by the military and flown out of the country in his pajamas on June 28, 2009, he was trying to put a consultative, nonbinding poll on the ballot to ask voters whether they wanted to have a real referendum on reforming the constitution during the scheduled election in November. It is important to note that Zelaya was not eligible to run in that election. Even if he had gotten everything he wanted, it was impossible for Zelaya to extend his term in office. But this did not stop the extreme right in Honduras and the United States from using false charges of tampering with the constitution to justify the coup.

  12. Stay on this topic on the blog. Her name needs to be run into the ground and the more ugly photos of her shown on here the merrier. This is better than what we had on Eagleton back in 1972. All we had on him was the “shock treatment” scandal. We need for Hillary to be formally On the Democratic Ticket before we totally unleash. But we need to keep the topic boiling. Perhaps some other stories might emerge about her. We need a sex scandal. Anyone out there around who went to high school with her? I heard that she had sex with a dog in high school and it was well known.

    1. EltonLongDong – thanks for outing yourself as one of the few Hillary paid trolls on this site.

  13. She’s a liar.
Always has been and always will be.
That’s what the Clintons do and Americans continue to ” enable” her and Bill.
At some point, the Democrats need to accept responsibility, for giving life to Monsters.
    Plain and simple.

  14. Big surprise and mystery for Hillary Clinton as well.

Note: The picture is not hyperbole. It was taken when a reporter said the FBI believed she wiped the hard drive of the server in order to delete her emails. He later asked if she wiped the emails to which she subsequently dodged answering.

  15. Can you clarify why earlier today (or yesterday) you wrote

    > The odds still favor Clinton in avoiding criminal charges

Why do you believe that’s where the odds lay?

  16. Do not underestimate the stupidity and gullibility of the American electorate. She will be elected president.
