ABC/WASHINGTON POST POLL: 56 Percent of Voters Believe That Hillary Clinton Should Have Been Charged After FBI Investigation

Hillary_Clinton_Testimony_to_House_Select_Committee_on_BenghaziIn a surprising poll by ABC and the Washington Post, a majority of Americans disapprove of the FBI’s recommendation not to charge Hillary Clinton with a crime over her mishandling of emails as secretary of state. Moreover, a majority say that the scandal has left them uncertain and worried about her ability to be president.

The poll still shows Democrats more likely to give Clinton the benefit of the doubt, but Independents show the same hardened view as Republicans. That is a matter of concern for the Clinton camp. Clinton has relied on the hardest core Democrats (and the DNC leadership) to guarantee her nomination. However, she now needs to secure the Independent vote, particularly given the alienation from her showed in polls for groups like white males.

Overall, 56 percent disapprove of FBI Director James Comey’s recommendation not to charge Clinton, while just 35 percent approve. Similarly, 57 percent say the incident makes them worried about how Clinton might act as president if she is elected, with most very worried about it. Just 39 percent feel the issue isn’t related to how she would perform as president. Those are truly horrible numbers for a presidential candidate going into a political convention.

Notably, the 35 and 39 percent seems to reflect Clinton’s hardcore base numbers. Once again, she is fortunate thus far to be running against Donald Trump who equals her in negative polling numbers. The two candidates now stand as the least popular in U.S. history to run for the presidency.  The latest poll shows a statistical dead heat with Clinton’s lead shrinking to just three points over Trump.

  1. Hi Darren,

I made a comment that didn’t post. It was earlier in the afternoon. Is it possible to check for it? There was nothing in it that should have kept it from posting.

    Thanks,

    Jill

  2. Paul, please explain how so many “conservative” candidates for the GOP nominee were able to prevail in obtaining the nomination?
What fire are you talking about?
The ruse is a self immolating event right in front of us.
    There’s your fire pal.

    1. Roscoe – the problem is getting a conservative who is willing to be a conservative. What the Republicans have right now is a bunch of RINOs pretending to be conservatives. The real conservatives have become independents. Who do you think is going to get their votes in the end?

  3. Liberals are stuck in their nostalgia for the 1930s and the 1960s. Conservatives are stuck in their nostalgia for the 1950s and the 1980s. Time for both sides to focus on creating new and better value systems! I, for one, am so over the 20th century. And I’m even more over the boring, stale, outdated rhetoric emanting from both sides.

  4. This may simply be another engineered distraction. While Democrats & Republicans & foreign audiences ponder Hillary’s email trouble, they do not think of her criminal participation in the censorship of 9/11. It bears remembering that 9/11 exposes not just Hillary as a dangerous ruler, but just about all opinion-makers, worldwide, as devoid of scruples and undeserving of trust.

    Love,

  5. @RoscoePC

There is a difference. The conservatives make fierce roars while doing stupid and impotent things. They are not much different in that respect than any other oligarchy. But humanity has been able to achieve great things and raise its standards of living under oligarchies, which do at least provide societal stability if not always perfect justice.

The liberals and leftists meanwhile seek to destroy all other institutions and principles and civilization itself in their pursuit of power. Which if they ever achieve will simply result eventually in another oligarchy, but one which will not have the means to achieve stability for quite a long while. Because it is based on lies and untruth and unreality. The chaos will consume a lot of lives.

Civilization is an artificial construct, a thin veneer. The Liberals are in the process of destroying it.

    IMHO.

  6. There is no difference between the Democrats who vote for their self esteem and the Republicans who vote based on “Conservative” principals using Squeeky’s argument of self perception.
Conservatism has proven to be the most impotent ruse ever foisted upon the electorate.
We are seeing its pathetic failure in action.

    1. Roscoe – you are blowing a lot of smoke, but there is no fire.

  7. I’m puzzled by something – since when is the subject of a federal investigation permitted to destroy evidence and claim it was all ‘personal’? I thought that decision was up to the investigators, and that it was they who decided what was evidence and not evidence.

  8. Thank you MHB Administrator for the clip of Hillary’s tawdry “Veni, vidi, vici”.
I can’t help feeling that redirecting the public to the email server or even the failure
in Benghazi, diminishes from the examination of an international crime of taking out the leader of a sovereign nation and the use of NATO to do so.
Also, the deafening silence on the purge of the generals on 9/11/2012 is ominous.

  9. I don’t support Clinton or Trump nor any of the other Presidential candidates who have run for US President over the past few centuries. None are or were competent to make decisions impacting hundreds of thousands or hundreds of millions of other human beings.

That being said, what past President or candidate or human generally could survive the type of rapid fire viral communications about every thing they do or say or have ever done or said?

Without the rapid fire communications, many people assumed, with little information, that those running for President were much better human beings than they actually were. People wanted to believe that those who ran for President and persuaded millions of people to support them, were actually competent to do that. They were not.

Trump is probably worse than most of candidates of the past. Hillary is probably very similar to or better than past candidates, considering all of her experience. That doesn’t mean she will make a good president. Quite the contrary. She is controlled by big oil, Wall Street, transnational capitalists just as past presidents have been. She’ll make similar major errors as past presidents have. They probably won’t be as seriously horriffic as decisions Trump might make.

  10. Why aren’t more folks looking at Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson? Wouldn’t he at least be a caretaker of the presidency until the next election?

  11. The bevy of stoopid people who support Klinton are dizzying, Actors like George Clooney et. al. who we watch on the screen as they send our country to the toilet,
this government has no legitimacy and it is time for American Citizens to declare a new government

  12. The response of the 44% who have no problem with Clinton evading the law and avoiding justice is easily explained. You can see and hear typical examples of them in the following video:

  13. @bulldog

No, I am saying that it is the Democratic Party that is “perceived” to be sophisticated and tolerant. Which in turn results in a lot of the college-educated white folks aligning themselves with the Democrats. For example, your Stephen Colbert types and your main stream media types. Most liberal policies are absolutely stupid, for example — the open borders crap. It only takes a barely functioning central nervous system to figure out that millions of unskilled laborers coming in to the country depresses wages, and cost jobs to the people already here, and thus is a very bad thing for America.

Yet, Democrats support illegal immigration to the detriment of American unskilled workers, often black ones. Why? it makes no sense for the base of the party to accept that policy. (Now there is a completely logical basis for the party LEADERSHIP to be in favor of it, because it increases the pool of poor voters and keeps them in power. Until and unless the Mexicans figure it out.)

Sooo, why are so many rank and file Democrats in favor of it??? There is no rational explanation. It is simply a power play and I think the base supports it because it makes them look tolerant and sophisticated. And cosmopolitan as opposed to provincial.

That is also why you will find the left wing criticizing the nature of comments on a blog as racissss! or hate speech as opposed to presenting logical responses. Because the logic and rationality is missing from their positions.

  14. The US does not have the rule of law. Here is another example: “Eric Holder has long insisted that he tried really hard when he was attorney general to make criminal cases against big banks in the wake of the 2007 financial crisis. His excuse, which he made again just last month, was that Justice Department prosecutors didn’t have enough evidence to bring charges.

Many critics have long suspected that was bullshit, and that Holder, for a combination of political, self-serving and craven reasons, held his department back.

A new, thoroughly-documented report from the House Financial Services Committee supports that theory. It recounts how career prosecutors in 2012 wanted to criminally charge the global bank HSBC for facilitating money laundering for Mexican drug lords and terrorist groups. But Holder said no.” (see the intercept)

People should not be silent in the face of this great injustice. It is bringing down our entire society.

As wikileaks releases more of her e-mails (and they will be doing this) her lies, intent and wrongdoing will be even more obvious. If Democrats would stop tolerating extreme malfeasance in their “leadership”, that would be a very good thing for our nation. I have learned to have very little faith in Democrats but I am still hoping they will surprise me, get a conscience and actually refuse to support Clinton for president.

  15. I guess I have to take the judgment of experienced professionals who studied all of the FACTS. I KNOW the FBI knows more than all of the people here about the law and the e-mails. Since I am not an expert on this, I am smart enough to know what I do not know. That is why I defer to the non-partisan director and agents of the FBI. THEIR judgment is of FAR more import and carries FAR more weight than the carping from fools who think that THEY are smarter and better than them. THAT is what matters most. I feel sorry for those who think that they are so much better than the FBI and their judgment. I can understand the general public being ignorant and cynical, but I had hoped most here would be better than that.

    1. randyjet – Comey let Hillary off the hook once before. This time he added ‘intent’ to a statute that does not require it. Two former prosecutors and a former CIA agent tore him a new one over that. Comey was twisting the law into a knot to let Hillary off the hook for the second time. The same for her minions. I had high hopes for Comey, but not for Lynch. However, when Lynch said she would go with the recommendation of the FBI, I knew the fix was in. There is the law for the Clintons and then the law for the rest of us.

  16. Sorry Darren, I didn’t read your comment carefully enough and didn’t address your question at all or only very obliquely (if you have wall st. behind you, you have the press behind you and if you have the press behind you, you have pretty much all propaganda behind you and crazy as it seems that is potent stuff)

But still, it’s so blatent this time round that it remains an excellent one and I for one am certainly scratching my head over it.
