Recovered Emails Show Clinton Foundation Officials Intervening For Donors and Aides With State Department

Clinton_Foundation_logoHillary_Clinton_Testimony_to_House_Select_Committee_on_BenghaziThe Clinton Foundation has been the subject of long-standing allegations of questionable donations and reporting. It is also viewed by many critics as a massive shadow campaign structure that employed aides and funded Clinton trips. However, the most serious allegation was a type of pay-to-play scheme where foreign and domestic donors gave money in the hopes of currying favor or gaining access to the State Department. Now, Judicial Watch has released dozens of emails that were deleted improperly by the Clinton staff, but contain non-personal communications. Among the recovered emails are communications showing interventions for donors at the State Department, including one on behalf of a convicted money launderer. The relative lack of coverage on both the proof of the improper deletion of such emails and the pay-for-play concerns is astonishing — and magnify concerns that mainstream media has been giving such controversies minimal coverage.

Clinton turned over 30,000 emails and repeatedly insisted that some 30,000 deleted emails were entirely and clearly personal in nature. That has been proven to be untrue. More importantly, the emails contain clear interventions for donors. Clinton just recently denied any such connection between the Foundation and State Department business. However, in one email exchange, Doug Band, an executive at the Clinton Foundation, intervened for Gilbert Chagoury — a convicted money launderer — with the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon. Band emphasizes that Chagoury is a “key guy there [Lebanon] and to us” and asks Clinton aide Huma Abedin call Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman on behalf of Chagoury. Chagoury was a major donor to both the Foundation and is a close friend of former President Bill Clinton. He also pledged $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative. He was convicted in 2000 in Switzerland for money laundering, but cut a deal to avoid jail time.

The Clinton campaign does not address the fact that this was one of many emails improperly deleted and only recovered through court orders. However, the campaign did insist that “Neither of these emails involve the Secretary or relate to the Foundation’s work. They are communications between her aides and the President’s personal aide, and indeed the recommendation was for one of the Secretary’s former staffers who was not employed by the Foundation.”

Another email showed the revolving door between the foundation and State with an effort by aides to find a position for a foundation associate. Clinton Foundation official Doug Band told Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin that it is “important to take care of (redacted).” Abedin then assured Band that “Personnel has been sending him options.”

Also deleted was an email from Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, on the effort of the National Security Agency and State Department officials to develop a modified blackberry for Clinton that might be used when she worked in a restricted State Department office that did not allow private phones. It was clearly a government-related email and one that bore directly on what the FBI Director later found to be careless handling of classified communications by Clinton and her aides.

It is hard to see how the Clinton aides could have read these emails and deleted them as purely personal matters. One would think that such clearly improper deletions would generate more media scrutiny of tens of thousands of emails unilaterally deleted by the Clinton staff.

  1. Ban all concentrated funding of politicians. Limit funding to $100 per registered voter. Provide funding from the government based on signed voter intentions and previous votes for. Canada does this and is a much more democratic nation than the US which is an oligarchy. The inclusion of private funding to be designed to work in concert with government funding, i.e., private excesses to be subtracted from government funding.

Require all voters to be registered and to present photo id. Facilitate the registering of voters and obtaining of photo id through a census taking like system. All Americans should have a photo id, available at no charge at a post office or motor vehicle branch or other government office. There should be a help line that will facilitate this for those incapacitated.

All voting facilities to be made available based on population density and available transportation. Free public transportation on voting day. All voting facilities to be designed and operated by the federal government in a non partisan manner.

Federal and State government funded media presentation of anyone qualifying to run for office: TV, radio, internet.

Ultimately the only way to get reasonable and honest people into the system is to take out the filter system which is concentrated wealth. Special interest groups and super pacs should be deemed undemocratic and offensive to the concept of America. If it comes down to a vote for an individual then the only determining factor should be the voter and the candidate.

The system is dysfunctional and closed to a better quality of candidate. The system is not democratic but oligarchical. Until the system is changed the same sort as Clinton, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, etc will be our choices. Trump is an aberration and should not even be in the mix. Trump provides comic relief and is a canary in the cage warning.

The only way to change the system is to start at the bottom and elect Congresspersons and Senators who will champion democracy and who aren’t in the pockets of the oligarchs. Our representatives must be elected based on their qualifications and how well they represent the people’s demands. Changing back to a democracy from our present oligarchy must be the first and most important demand. We have two choices, one more than a dictatorship. Roll over Scalia.

  2. Hey Darren,
Excellent comment! When anyone asks me who I will be voting for, I respond: I am going to vote AGAINST Hillary. Four years ago I voted AGAINST Obama. I can NOT vote FOR a government LIAR like Hillary or Obama. Yet I do not like Trump and didn’t care much for Romney either.

  3. Clearly the most devious criminal mind of this century or the last. Literally millions of dollars spent investigating her emails, her financial dealings, her role in Whitewater, State Trooper Gate, Clinton Foundation, Benghazi, and so many more. And yet somehow she always manages to escape the hangman. Moriarty, thy name is Hillary!

Or, I don’t know, maybe she just continues to exercise bad judgement time after time to the point of exasperation for the people who would like to support her for the good things she has done, but are completely frustrated at how stupid she appears to be in making decisions about how what she does will be perceived.

But by all means, please go spend another billion of my tax dollars on this. Everything else is fine.

Bernie! We need you! Come back!

  4. If you folks don’t like her then merely go to your Second Amendment concealed carry kinda friends and ask them to stop her. There have been a number of comments of scourn about her and no one thought of this. It is a new idea of mine.
    Pea Party hot.
    Pea Party cold.
Pea Party in the pot nine days old.

And on the tenth day we got a Donald.

  5. Put your money in the Senate, create a super-majority and run the Presidency from there.

  6. In addition to all the corruption, the neocons who gave you the Iraq War have jumped ship and joined the Hillary team. Hillary and the neocons are also Russophobes who are hot for Cold War II and possibly beyond.

Of course there’s a lot more (e.g., Libya and Syria), but that’s enough to prove there’s no excuse for someone who votes for Hillary.

HRC is totally a creature of the Deep State and Wall Street. Trump is at least quasi-independent, though his new economic team is kind of alarming in its composition. But maybe not….declaring total war against the existing system would be dangerously disruptive.

  7. JT, The MSM are in the tank. Bernie learned that. Trump knows that. And the 3rd party candidates know that as well. Clinton, Trump, Johnson and Stein should all be on the debate stage.

  8. And, let me be the preempt all the Clintonistas by saying, “But..but..but..Trump!”

  9. Darren, i have been saying for years we need a grass roots, non partisan movement to clean Congress. Vote EVERY incumbent out.

  10. Darren Smith, it is the people who are the problem. It’s not the politicians, it’s the people who elect them. I just wish that the voters had the guts to look past the Democrats and the Republicans.

  11. Anyone else think its time for one of those historical moments in history where there is a mass round up and arrest of government heads and officials?

  12. Oh Professor, it only gets worse. Look at this.

REVEALED: Obama DOJ Blocked Clinton Foundation Investigation

It has been revealed that while federal investigators were probing Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State, the Obama Justice Department denied an FBI request to investigate the Clinton Foundation.

“The FBI went to Justice Department earlier this year asking for it to open a case into the foundation, but the public integrity unit declined,” CNN breaking news writer Daniella Diaz reported Wednesday.

This bombshell comes on the heels of an explosive revelation found in the release of nearly 300 pages of emails belonging to then-Secretary of State Clinton that shine a spotlight on the crony connections Clinton facilitated between the State Department and her family foundation.

As Breitbart News reported, email exchanges, uncovered by government watchdog group Judicial Watch, as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, reveal Clinton aids conducted favors for Clinton Foundation personnel, while another email exchange saw senior Clinton staffers putting Clinton Foundation mega-donors in contact with top State Department officials.

Last January, Fox News’s Catherine Herridge reported that the FBI’s probe into Hillary Clinton‘s email use had been expanded to included the possible “intersection” of decisions made by Hillary Clinton’s State Department on behalf of Clinton Foundation donors.

“The agents are investigating the possible intersection of Clinton Foundation donations, the dispensation of State Department contracts and whether regular processes were followed,” Herridge said one source told Fox at the time.

The Clinton Campaign insists that the newly-released emails don’t relate to her work at the Clinton Foundation.

“Neither of these emails involve the secretary or relate to the Foundation’s work,” said Clinton campaign spokesman Josh Schwerin. “They are communications between her aides and the President’s personal aide, and indeed the recommendation was for one of the Secretary’s former staffers who was not employed by the Foundation.”

Million dollar donations and six-figure speeches from foreign governments, companies, and individuals to former President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation that often coincided with State Department actions in favor of those governments, companies, or individuals while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State was, of course, first detailed in The New York Times bestselling book Clinton Cash, authored by Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer.

  13. When will someone stop this witch?

The FBI is tainted, the DOJ is corrupt, the White House is tainted and corrupt. Who can stop her and will she be held accountable!?

  14. I firmly believe that if elected, Hillary Clinton’s administration will be the most corrupt since President Grant’s. The defining difference is that Grant lost control of his cabinet and was a bit naïve about who he appointed. He was for the most part an Honorable man in his heart. Hillary Clinton however will be both the instigator and facilitator in all the inevitable and certain corruption she will unleash upon the American people. Despite the obvious that will happen in the future, both the Democrats, many Republicans, her employees in the news media, and other sycophants will protect her blindly as long as she can shell out the graft, and laundered money while at the same time maintaining as much dirt on them as she can blackmail them if they fall out of line.

Because of what she stands for, the DNC deserves to lose this election to whomever somehow achieves a victory in the Electoral College. They put up a candidate so utterly questionable as to her trustworthiness and legitimacy, it is only fitting that they lose this election. Perhaps if they had been legitimate and not conspired to attack any other competition to her it is likely that someone such as Donald Trump would not have risen to the prominence he had because much of the public views the federal politicians with complete contempt.

But the voters themselves share blame in this embarrassing presidential election. Many succumbed to the notion of “she is the lesser of two evils.” This is at the very heart of the issue. Voters should have categorically rejected any corrupt and untrustworthy candidate from the beginning and perhaps the powers to be might have listened. But, instead the two entrenched parties now look at the voters as “useful idiots” who can be so readily manipulated to accept a Congress comprised of probably the most criminal demographic in the United States. (Considering the numbers of Members of Congress who are charged with crimes as a ratio of its 535 members)

A good way for the voters to end this mess, which is becoming more 3rd world like over the decades, each voter should simply refuse to vote for any incumbent regardless of what they promise and only vote for those who have some semblance of legitimacy and competency.

Until then, I am not very optimistic.

  15. Well, we knew this already… no surprise at all although it is useful to have the actual documentation of shenanigans.. HRC and the Demoncrats (as well the the RNC) are owned by corporations.

“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. Hillary Clinton is the problem; she is not the solution to Donald Trump. We are the solution. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. This is our moment. Together, we do have the power to create an America and a world that works for all of us. The power to create that world is not just in our hopes. It’s not just in our dreams. Right here and now, it’s in our hands. We will make this happen together. We are unstoppable. Thank you so much. On we go. Thank you.”

  16. I would really like Hillary to be accountable but she never will be.
She is a liar and there is no truth in her. God help us!

  17. We know the Clintons play fast and loose because they think nobody cares. Some of us care. How do people move money from here to the Caymans. If she’s elected we have to move!
