One of the issues that was raised repeatedly by Bernie Sanders and later by Donald Trump is the alliance between Hillary Clinton and David Brock, the founder of Media Matters. Brock has been widely attacked for what critics view as sleazy and vicious work on behalf of Hillary Clinton. You may recall Bernie Sanders denouncing Clinton for her continued alliance with Brock and use of his controversial PAC organizations. Sanders referred to Brock as simple “scum” but Clinton refused to denounced Brock or to discourage Democrats from working with or contributing to his PACs. It turns out that even Clinton aides were disgusted by Clinton’s refusal to cut off Brock or to denounced his work. In the latest batch of Wikileaks, Neera Tanden, the President of Center for American Progress, allegedly emailed John Podesta that “I hope Hillary truly understands now how batshit crazy David Brock is.”
Of course, the question answers itself. The consistent view from both inside and outside of the Clinton campaign referenced Brock in the same terms. The obvious conclusion is that it is precisely those attributes that proved the attraction.
The mainstream media has been repeatedly accused of ignoring the Clinton-Brock connection. Yet, the email (if accurate) shows that Clinton allies were equally concerned about the association. Tanden previously worked for Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign and later served as policy director for Barack Obama.
The subject of the email was simply “I Hope.”
I see that Turley has NO objection to the CEO of Breitbart working for Trump officially. Breitbart is even more batshit crazy than anything Brock is. They even had to PAY an undisclosed sum of money for libelling Sherrod. It is too bad that Turley has no mention any of that, and even WORSE is the FACT that nobody in the media or the legal profession wished to do anything about the COLD BLOODED MURDER of her father back in the day when black Americans had no rights to life or property.
How about a column about how the Sherrod family deserves some reparations from the man or his estate who murdered her father? I think that lots of people,myself included would like to know how the family could be fairly compensated legally for that unprosecuted cold blooded murder. A law or a trial would be in order to confiscate any land or property that the killer left to his heirs. How about that for a legal blog?
Sounds like good source material for you to start your own blog. In the meantime you whining that JT doesn’t publish articles you approve of is quite in vogue these days. In “olden times” one would simply leave if it didn’t suit their tastes. Today, you hike up your skirt and start kicking and screaming until you get your way or you shut them down.
Actually when I first came here it was a legal blog devoted to legal questions. That is why I liked it. I was hoping that Prof Turley would return to his roots, but it is more profitable to do the right wing thing. I can understand that since he has kids to put through college soon.

If you strongly support government corruption, crime, promotion of terrorism, higher taxes, waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement, as I do, then we must do all we can to defend Brock and his efforts to get my hero, Hillary Clinton, elected. What bothers me is why people have to denounce Trump with stupid stuff about lawn mowing. His sons, in an interview, said when he goes to a work site he chats with people who have been with him for years. Remembers what they’ve said before. Asks about family member who had surgery, etc. why not chat with these people and tell the truth?
Trump cares so much about his people that he didn’t know about their health insurance and LIED again about their having so many problems with Obama care. He also cared so much that he refused to pay the caterer who did his wedding! He cares so much that he stiffed all of his contractors and put many of them out of business! Go sell such crap to them!

More and more I’m believing the pedophile accusations against Weiner have been fabricated, deployed as a mechanism for the FBI to acquire already known evidence against Hillary without having to jump through hoops imposed by the Obama Administration or worse, blocked all together from ever entering the public domain. Comey was under tremendous pressure from the Obama Administration to not indict Hillary last summer, however, all that has changed now that there’s a new ballgame with the ingenious Weiner ruse, which has finally tipped the scale against Hillary, an indictment now only a matter of time.
Fox has walked back the Indictment story. A few rogue agents don’t have the power to indict.

The FBI is an investigative agency. Only grand juries issue indictments. The Criminal Division would not impanel a grand jury nor use a standing grand jury and neither would the U.S. Attorney in DC. That’s one factor which hamstrung the investigation (as well as the non-strategy employed by Comey himself).
Trump wont win because Latino voters are voting against him in massive numbers. Wonder if he regrets the day he called Mexicans “rapists”. Probably not…….

Jonathan, I do not believe that she cares how crazy the man is, not as long as she is getting money from him. If he stops giving her money, I believe she will then quickly drop him. I personally believe that they are simply two pieces of scum in the same urinal.
Brock’s what you get in the tail of the bell curve when you move it so and so many notches toward corruption. He and Podesta are on the same continuum.

For fifty years, it’s been de riguer in some circles to ridicule every day virtues and to admire disreputable people as bearers of ‘real’ virtue. The net result of that is that every component of our elite is dominated by people who are rotten to the core. (And, on the ground level, we have scads of people who both despise their next-door neighbor and don’t say grace either). They manage to be rotten and supercilious and pretentious all at the same time. You’re seeing the results in this election.
Compare the elites of our day to those who superintended the war effort 70-odd years ago and then deftly managed the demobilization (rapidly succeeded by the Cold War). The decay in quality is stupefying. The decision-making element today looks down on their elders because they were raaaaacist.

I didn’t think there was a question about Brock being bat sh*t crazy, just how much. As time has gone on, he has gone deeper over the edge. Honestly, if Hillary loses this election, I am not sure many of the Clintonistas will survive. I see a rash of suicides coming up.
He isn’t crazy. He’s more a gay grifter who’s bounced from one teat to another. The thing is, there are only so many opportunities you have to turn apostasy into a career move. Someone like Michael Lind has the connections and just enough erudition to work the elegant neighborhoods, so his outfit pulls 7-digit sums from Pew and MacArthur (and smaller sums from the sorosphere), and he gets to write about public policy. Brock remains useful and thus has his funding pipeline, but because, like the dame says in A Mighty Wind, “I’d do some things some of the other girls wouldn’t [smile]”.
