HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!

I wanted to wish everyone as wonderful and safe Fourth of July. I love this holiday for how it brings together Americans of different political and cultural values.  We celebrate our common article of faith in not just our Declaration of Independence but our Constitution.  In our current poisonous political environment, this is a day where we can transcend the anger and vitriol for just a day to remember what we have in common as opposed to what we have in conflict.  Perhaps we could even recollect what it was like to have civil discourse over our future and our leaders.  It is not nearly as implausible as it may seem.  After all, we celebrate today the most implausible of events: a small ragtag collection of colonies defeating the most powerful nation on Earth.  So, perhaps on this day we can all strive a bit harder to have a civil and respectful dialogue with those holding opposing views.  Americans love politics and today is a great day to debate the future of our country. However, it is also a day to remember what binds us rather than divides us as a nation.  Ok, enough preaching.  Now for the fun.

We will be having friends over today for hotdogs and hamburgers.  Aidan and I went out and bought enough fireworks to retake Mosul.  There could be rain tonight so we may have to wait for a break in the weather to launch.

The Fourth of July planning committee on the Mall is continuing its theme of “Wow, I cannot believe they are still alive” band selection.  This year will feature the Four Tops and the Beach Boys.    Just for the record, the Four Tops began performing in 1953.  This morning I asked the young lady at the check out counter if she had ever heard of either band.  The Four Tops was a total blank.  The Beach Boys was a historical reference but she had never heard any of their songs.  I have in a state of depression and self-loathing.  The bands will appropriately play amidst our Smithsonian museums to an audience composed of people (like me) who see them as ageless and people (like my kids) who see them as the singing undead.

Have a wonderful day and Happy Independence Day!

  1. Happy Independence Day to all. Be happy we won the war and don’t speak English. Nobody wants to have to call toilets loos.

  2. Happy 4th of July eveyone and may God bless you, your loved ones and the United States of America.

  3. If the 4th of July represents anything, it is conception not birth. As is the case with the birthday of America, its date of death is variable.

December 15, 1791, the date of ratification of the Bill of Rights, is the only possible birth date for America. Ironically, all of those rights have been nullified by the inexorable implementation of the principles of the Communist Manifesto:

    Central Planning
Control of the Means of Production
    Social Engineering
    Redistribution of Wealth

On the birthday of the Bill of Rights, Americans were provided rights and freedoms which preclude those principles of collectivism. The most profound example being the right to private property precluding redistribution of wealth. The very definition of private and the right to private property are violated when government takes private property (i.e. money) from one man to give that private property to another. Affirmative action is a form of redistribution which addresses matriculation and employment – both of which transact private property.

The date of conception of the death of America is manifest and definitive: February 21, 1848. That is the London publication date of the Communist Manifesto. The first debilitating strike against American rights and freedoms was delivered by Abraham Lincoln, subsequent assaults persisted – Federal Reserve, IRS, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Affirmative Action, Quotas, Social Services, “Fair
Housing”, “Non-Discrimination,” Public Worker Unionization, elimination of borders, immigration/invasion, etc. – and the mortal blow was issued by Lyndon Johnson as the “Great Society.”

I am certain that the American Founders would be appreciative of the sentiment of celebrating that which they brilliantly designed and established, while they would be deeply saddened to witness the death of their creation by nullification and deliberate misinterpretation of the rights and freedoms they provided to free people, and the nullification and deliberate misinterpretation of the timeless and historical documents they wrote – the Preamble, Constitution and Bill of Rights.

People are compelled to adapt to the outcome of freedom.

Freedom does not adapt to people.

Charity is industry conducted in the free markets of the private sector, not compulsory redistribution.

    “…TO OURSELVES AND OUR POSTERITY,…”

Alas, we celebrate the birth and mourn the death of America.

  4. The Orange Man was heard singing these lyrics as he got into a car this a.m.:
    “How was I to know…?
She was with the Russians too!”

    Who was he talking about?

  5. “Aidan and I went out and bought enough fireworks to retake Mosul. “

Ah the finer things in life. I trust they are Reservation Issue. “Safe & Sane” is just wrong.

    Happy 4th everyone.

  6. Thank you. Happy 4th to you and your family. Thank you for all you do

  7. Happy Fourth of July to all the normal people here! For all the others, the Democratic Party Shills and Cultists, I even want you to be happy, too! Because I know this is a hard day for you to have to pretend you like the Flag, and the country, and there are all those patriotic songs! I am sure you cringe whenever you hear, God Bless the USA!, or It’s A Grand Old Flag!, or I’m A Yankee Doodle Dandy!

Sooo, in a spirit of bipartisan unison, I have written you your own special song to sing today!

    I Hate America!
A Fourth of July Song for Leftists and SJWs

To The Tune of God Bless America
    By Squeeky Fromm

    We hate America!
    ‘Cause its sooo white!
    And the Founders-
    They were bounders!
    They had slaves!
    They were knaves every one!!!

All the trannies, and the lezzies
And the homos, all in drag—
    We hate America
    Let’s burn the flag!
    We hate America!
    Let’s burn the flag!

    1. Jonathan writes a nice piece about patriotism and asking for civility, and what do you do? Display, once again what an ignoramus loser you are.

      1. To think that I went to all the trouble of writing a 4th of July song just for you Democrats sooo you would have something to sing at your protests and flag burnings and silly marches! And that is all the thanks I get! Next time, you just write your own, “I Hate America” song!

        So There!!!

      1. Thank you NickS!!! I am glad you liked it. But, there are some people here who just don’t appreciate really good song lyrics. But in a display of July 4th civility, I am not going to mention her name.
