“That’s Not A Good Place”: Moore States That George Soros Is Going To Hell With All Other Non-Christians

Judge_Roy_Moore250px-Hortus_Deliciarum_-_HellWe recently discussed the bizarre defense of Roy Moore earlier this month from Orthodox Rabbi Noson Shmuel Leiter.  Leiter declared that “Democratic and Republican homosexualists” were attacking Moore because he is standing up to “homosexualist gay terrorists” and “the LGBT transgender mafia.”  It appears however that Leiter would fare little better in the Moore world of self-righteous bigotry.  In a new released statement, Moore is shown denouncing George Soros, who is Jewish and noting that Jewish people will all go to Hell: “He’s still going to the same place that people who don’t recognize God and morality and accept his salvation are going. And that’s not a good place.” No that is not a nice place but would be the destination (in Moore’s view) of everyone from Leiter to Jared Kushner to Ivanka Trump to conservative donor Sheldon Gary Adelson.

Moore made the comments in an interview with radio host Bryan Fischer on his Alabama show, The Ordinary People Society.

Moore often raises damnation for his opponents.  For example, he believes that 9-11 may have been divine punishment for the declining faith in God and legitimizing abortion and “sodomy.”  He noted “You know, we’ve suffered a lot in this country. Maybe, just maybe, because we’ve distanced ourselves from the one that has it within his hands to heal this land.”
It is a curious way of campaigning but Tuesday will tell how many voters are left after you remove the damned among the voter rolls.

  1. Late4 Dinner, There are people who convert to Judaism who are not ethnically Jewish. If they decide to leave that religion are they still Jewish. I suspect this would help if you want a career in Hollywood.

    • Independent Bob, the existence of Jewish converts does not refute the origins of Judaism in the Patriarchs of Israel.

      • Make that The Patriarchs of The Bible: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob–later known as Israel. Don’t ask me about the Antediluvian Patriarchs. There are many stretching from Adam to Noah and still more after the flood all the way down to Abraham. The point is that there exist two ethnic groups known as Jews–Ashkenazi Jews and Sephardic Jews. Most of the people practicing Judaism are members of one or the other of those two ethnic groups. There were also Hebrew speaking peoples who lived before, during and after biblical times. And, in any case, refuting the part does not refute the whole.

  2. Here is what Soros told his biographer Michael Kaufman about his boyhood experience evading the Nazis:

“While he was living with Baumbach as Sandor Kiss, an event occurred that more than a half a century later would become the basis of charges that George Soros, the international financier and billionaire, had somehow collaborated with the Nazi occupiers of his homeland and had exploited his fellow Jews. The issue was raised in a bizarre television profile and interview of Soros aired on the CBS television program 60 Minutes in December of 1998. In the segment, Steve Kroft, the interviewer, noted with prosecutorial gusto that George’s father had “bribed a government official to swear that you were his godson,” and added that this survival strategy “carried a heavy price tag.” For, he continued, “as hundreds of thousands of Jews were being shipped off to the Nazi death camps, a thirteen-year-old George Soros accompanied his phony godfather on his rounds, confiscating property from the Jews.” Visibly dumbfounded by the line of questioning, Soros could only manage to say that he had no role in the seizure of property and was merely a spectator. To underscore Kroft’s point, film footage showed masses of Hungarian Jews being led away at gunpoint.

This is what actually happened. Shortly after George went to live with Baumbach, the man was assigned to take inventory on the vast estate of Mor Kornfeld, an extremely wealthy aristocrat of Jewish origin. The Kornfeld family had the wealth, wisdom, and connections to be able to leave some of its belongings behind in exchange for permission to make their way to Lisbon. Baumbach was ordered to go to the Kornfeld estate and inventory the artworks, furnishings, and other property. Rather than leave his “godson” behind in Budapest for three days, he took the boy with him. As Baumbach itemized the material, George walked around the grounds and spent time with Kornfeld’s staff. It was his first visit to such a mansion, and the first time he rode a horse. He collaborated with no one and he paid attention to what he understood to be his primary responsibility: making sure that no one doubted that he was Sandor Kiss. Among his practical concerns was to make sure that no one saw him pee.”

It is in the nature of TV to reduce complex history to mere sound-bites and video-clips that necessarily distort the truth about the world via little snippets squeezed between commercial breaks. In this case, the distortion is grotesque. A thirteen year-old Jewish boy evading capture from the Nazis was made by TV to appear as though he had been collaborating with the Nazis. It was shameless defamation the first time around. And for eleven years since it has remained a recurring, recidivist series of shameless defamations.

Ken got it almost right when he said, “Since you are not a holocaust survivor shut up.” I am not a holocaust survivor. But I have had neighbors who were holocaust survivors. And I will not shut up when I encounter the shameless defamation of any holocaust survivor. George Soros did not collaborate with the Nazis. All George Soros did was to evade capture during the Nazi occupation of Hungary from 1944 to 1945.

    • For clarification, Ken was replying to Paul C. Schulte when Ken said “Since you are not a holocaust survivor shut up.”

      P. S. There is a time and place for agonistic arguments that are relevant and proportionate to the issues under consideration. Mespo727272 and Paul C. Schulte raised an agonistic argument against Soros that was just barely relevant to this thread and hopelessly disproportionate to their ongoing efforts to defend Roy Moore, whom Turley cited in the original post for this thread as follows:

In a new released statement, Moore is shown denouncing George Soros, who is Jewish and noting that Jewish people will all go to Hell: “He’s still going to the same place that people who don’t recognize God and morality and accept his salvation are going. And that’s not a good place.”

      • Diane – Soros is on record as not believing in God. Does not make any difference what religion he used to belong to, he is an atheist. In Moore’s eyes, he is going to Hell.

        • Moore’s eyes, schmoore’s eyes. Judaism is an ethnic religion like Hinduism. You can stop practicing Judaism, but you can’t stop being ethnically Jewish. Why else would the Nazis have exterminated so very many non-practicing ethnic Jews? Your point being pointless, you have no point.

      • Paul Schulte:

“Mespo727272 and Paul C. Schulte raised an agonistic argument against Soros that was just barely relevant to the thread …”
        *********************

Well, Paul we’ve moved from outright “liars” to agnostic writers of “barely” relevant commentary.

All it took was a video from her hero decimating her entire premise in calling us names.

That’s personal growth for L4D. Maybe we can get her to prepubescent emotional development.

    • Diane – you are familiar with the Hitler Youth, are you not? At the end of the war, they were harder to defeat than regular troops because they were so die-hard. They were willing to fight to the death. Finally, American forces just started using flame-throwers on them, since it was easier than fighting them.

Never believe what a 13-year-old boy tells you. They are hard-wired to lie, especially 50 years after the fact.

        • Diane – I am long past 13 so I don’t have to lie anymore. But Soros does. I have a friend who lived in Hungary at the same time Soros was there and he and his wife were sent here on the rat line. They were given jobs in the Catholic hospital in our small town. About 10 years ago his oldest son found out they were looking for his father and mother as war criminals from WWII. His father, a doctor, had been the mayor of the town and was responsible for sending the Jews to the concentration camps. Caused rather a mess in the family although both the mother and father were dead by then.

My remark about the Hitler Youth was not that Soros was a member, although he might have been because everyone was, however rather that 13-year-olds can be vicious. Try teaching jr, high sometime.

  3. As usual, Ralph, Paul, Crazy George and the other denizens of Bedlam write about only the state of their mind and not objective reality.

Soros, as a student of Karl Popper, has done well.

  4. Turley is such a bald-faced liar. Contrary to Turley’s FAKE-NEWS BS, Soros is not a Jew and Moore NEVER said that “Jewish people will all go to Hell” as Turley falsely states. (Having Jewish heritage does not make one Jewish or someone who supports Jews. Daniel Barros is a case in point. Barros’ parents were Jews, but Barros abandoned Judaism and did the complete opposite. He supported the Nazis, just like Soros did and does today.)

To attack Soros is NOT to attack Judaism. Soros HATES Jews and he HATES Israel. Soros is strictly a Leftist–just like Turley, which is why Turley, of course, lies about Soros and protects him.

Soros worked for–and supported–the Nazis and he did so proudly. When Soros acquired considerable wealth, he used that wealth to fund anti-Israel and anti-American organizations. He continues to do so today.

Roy Moore, on the other hand, is a staunch SUPPORTER of Israel and has APPLAUDED President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel for the first time U.S. history. Moore is a friend of the Jews.

So CEASE your BS and LIES, Turley.

      • Can you name just one fact that I’ve stated that is incorrect or just one claim I’ve made that is unfounded? No, of course, you cannot. You are just a Leftist dupe, dope, and dummy, incapable of any form of thinking, reasoning, or analysis. You’re simply another Leftist–i.e., mentally impaired and substandard in every way.

        • “…a Leftist dupe, dope, and dummy, incapable of any form of thinking, reasoning, or analysis. You’re simply another Leftist–i.e., mentally impaired and substandard in every way.”

          Oh, STFU.

          • ” . . . Oh, STFU?” Wrong, ultrasubcretin. It would be “Oh STFW”–which you’re too dumb to understand, so I’ll lay it out for you: “Oh Stop the F-ck Writing.” And if you don’t like what I write, then don’t read it. Why are you reading comments anyway? You’ve long ago closed your eyes, ears, and mind to what is really happening around you. So just zone everything out as you usually do, and simply remain plugged into the mainstream media network and allow them to download your every thought and impression. You’re far too mentally infirm to cut that umbilical cord to become an adult thinker. Stick to what you do best. Mindlessness.

  5. I first learned that as a Catholic I would suffer eternal damnation during a conversation with a sweet young Southern Baptist cashier when I worked as a bagger and stock boy at Hill’s Supermarket in Huntsville, Alabama in June of 1963. My family had moved to Huntsville earlier that year after my father accepted a position with NASA as an optics instructor. I was 16 and had returned from my high school in El Paso for the summer. I was the first Catholic this particular young lady had ever met, or so she said. We somehow got on the subject of religion during one of our conversations and she patiently, and almost sorrowfully, explained to me that Catholics are not Christians because we are not “born again” and are accordingly condemned to everlasting hellfire.

That was also the summer that I learned about Jim Crow laws: segregated restaurants and theatres, separate water fountains and “whites only” signs. I also learned about some of the unwritten Jim Crow laws, like black people looking down and stepping aside for white people on sidewalks. In my grocery store, I learned that the established “custom” was to welcome black customers on Saturday nights.

Several months before we moved to Huntsville, a Catholic priest had been literally run out of a small town outside of Huntsville when he arrived to establish a Catholic parish. And, of course, that was also the summer that George Corley Wallace, who earlier that year had given his “segregation forever” speech, attempted to blockade the entrance to the University of Alabama to prevent the enrollment of black students.

Now I don’t know whether George Soros is going to hell or not. I also don’t know how Roy Moore spent the summer of 1963 in Gadsden, or what my other contemporary Jeff Sessions was doing in Selma in those days, but for me it was one serious summer of culture shock.

    • Mike A – wow — from El Paso to Huntsville – wholly different cultures.

I moved to TN from Germany to attend college in a small town in 1984. I had no idea it would be such a shock. Promptly got derided for dancing with a black man my first week. Girls in dorm asked me if I was “saved” – I asked from what which led to my being labeled a heathen. But it worked to my advantage – I did whatever I wanted including keeping wine opnly in my room without penalty – because you know — that’s just how Europeans roll =)

  6. Ahhh JT, ya hit all the dog whistles and hot buttons today. It don’t matter a bit to your hard right readers what Moore says, what matters is that you wrote the name SOROS. They go blank from years of “FOX NEWS” propaganda when that word is heard or read. It reminds me of Monty Python’s knights that say “NI” they go crazy and just can’t hear that word.

  7. How is this even a news story? Christians believe in hell and they believe that’s where non-christians are heading. Basically, this item can be boiled down to something like “Roy Moore is a Christian.” Well, we all already knew that. Just so all the PC morons in the audience understand, this places Roy Moore on the exact same moral plane with all the world’s muslims also.

  8. Jonathan, I’d expect better reasoning from you than this non-sequitur: ‘noting that Jewish people will all go to Hell: “He’s still going to the same place that people who don’t recognize God and morality and accept his salvation are going. And that’s not a good place.” ‘ How can you infer such a conclusion from such a quote? Did he mention Jews in that quote? Only if you perpetuate the lie that one cannot be Jewish and Christian can you draw such an inference. Rabbi Leitner may disagree, but I can assure you that 100% of the first Christians were all Jewish: born, raised, and died Jewish (not to mention Jesus himself). The first serious theological issue confronting the Christian Church was the question of whether NON-Jews could be Christian. (Read it yourself in Acts.) The Apostles, all Jewish, were persecuted by fellow Jews (e.g., Saul of Tarsus) over the question of whether or not Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah, but never, ever, did their persecutors dispute their Jewishness. That came much later.

The problem is the dual, distinct meanings of the word “Jewish”: it means an ethnicity and a heritage, which depends on ancestry alone and is impossible to change regardless of one’s religion (including atheism, which is still a religion, and is George Soros’ religion), and it also means a religion (or set of related religions), one to which an Eskimo or anyone else can convert. In a religious sense only, then yes, an adherent of modern rabbinical Judaism (the spiritual descendants of the Biblical Pharisees) does not believe that Yeshua is Messiah and cannot also be Christian—that would be contradictory. It is nothing short of sloppy thinking and sloppy writing to confuse these two very, very different uses of the term ‘Jewish’. Shame on you for such sloppy thinking; you should do better than that.

The lie that one cannot be a Christian and still be Jewish was perpetrated by the Catholic Church (and continued by break-away groups), who wanted Jewish Christians to be under their control and not the rabbis’, and also by the rabbis, who wanted (and still do) their flock to be under their control and not run to a competing religion, under penalty of complete ostracism. It’s amazing that Jews are mostly okay with a fellow Jew being an atheist, even a Hindu, but believe in Jesus as the fulfillment of Isaiah 53—oh my! That passage refers to the suffering, death, burial, and resurrection of the Messiah, whoever he is. If they think it refers to someone else—well, they don’t actually think about it. It’s too close to Christian doctrine, and so the rabbis removed it from the Haftorah readings. Check it out. The Haftorah readings deliberately skip that chapter.

    • All irrelevant.
People need to get along with each other, tolerate superficial differences, learn from each other. Skin shade and “religion” are irrelevant. Some people think differently than other people. Some are religionists. Many are not religionists.

      • HUH!? Somehow calling for toleration and then proclaiming religion to be irrelevant seems a wee bit intolerant. Oh, I see. We should tolerate the superficial differences; it’s those significant differences we should be intolerant of. Got it.

        Oh boy.

    • I wasn’t surprised in the slightest that Turley would lie about Moore and Soros. Turley’s a Leftist and lying comes as natural to him as a fly takes to a pile of feces on the ground.

  9. Hmmm! Soros generously often funds groups that support higher wages for workers, healthcare for all, acceptance of all Americans, etc…….,. Moore is a sick, selfish, molester/sexual abuser who will support massive transfers of wealth from the middle class to the wealthy (the republican/conservative anti-job, tax theft plan), will kill many americans by taking away their health care (arguably one of the least pro-life people walking on the planet) and believes in a twisted anti-semitic, sharia version of christianity that is intolerant to anyone that also is not an angry, hate filled pedophile like himself.

While not as intolerant (but maybe close) as the vile Moore, one wonders why the orthodox would support garbage christians and other nazis like Moore. Anti-semites like Moore and his nazi brethren support Israel because of some stupid bible fairy tale – but they despise jews and would kill every last american jew if given the opportunity. One only has to look at Charlottesville and similar to get the sense republicans are sadly either nazi or a sympathizer.

If truly there were a god, filth like Moore would long ago have been struck down

    • Soros generously often funds groups that support higher wages for workers, healthcare for all, acceptance of all Americans, etc.

Acceptance of all Americans? That would be a hilarious comment if it weren’t so damned ignorant. Soros does not accept the constitutional republic we know as America. So I have no idea how he accepts all Americans.

I do appreciate you being so open about your intolerance though.

    • BillW re”Soros generously often funds groups that support higher wages for workers, healthcare for all, acceptance of all Americans, etc……” Totally wrong – Soros supports the Establishment Dems — not the Progessives. Soros wants to solidify corporate control and push open borders which is why Hungarians despise him.

  10. Moore was not just talking about Soros. He said Soros was going to hell with other non Christians. That includes most of the people in world. Don’t know if Moore considers Catholics to be Christians but I doubt it. Since Alabama has very little religious diversity, it probably does not hurt him. Having spent some time around these rapture types in Texas, I don’t think I care to end up with them in the after life if there is one.

    • Agreed Bob. Apparently several contributors in this blog would rather seat Soros in the Senate instead of Moore. For all their clarity on Moore being unfit for many things, including the Senate, why they would go to such lengths to defend the likes of George Soros is just bizarre. Wikipedia? Oh boy. Stand by, apparently Natacha will be on the scene with her own special brand of crazy. 😉 Maybe she’ll join the others and call for elevating Soros to sainthood.

  11. More of that famed Christian compassion on display.

As Hitchens said of Falwell, which is applicable to the creeper Moore, “It’s a pity there isn’t a hell for him to go to.”

    • “More of that famed Christian compassion on display.

As Hitchens said of Falwell, which is applicable to the creeper Moore, “It’s a pity there isn’t a hell for him to go to.””

Speaking as an atheist, I must say I grow weary and embarrassed by these facile, bumper-sticker-ready critiques of religion.

  12. I presume Roy is a member of the SBC, the Western quasi-Christian version of Zionist Judaism. These SBC idiots think the current Khazarian residents of Israel are modern spiritual and DNA descendants of Abraham.

The SBC preaches that God commands all modern Christians to kill and destroy, with every handy weapon including nuclear, any and every enemy of Israel. Such is the SBC’s Zionist endorsed interpretation of the OT verse: “I shall bless those who bless thee (21st C Jews), and I shall curse (murder) those who curse (go against) thee.”

Allegedly, when Father God said this to Abraham, God referred to Abraham’s not-yet-born progeny, including those of the 21st C. Of course, we are ordered to ignore God’s little faux pas of forgetting to tell Abraham the proper “interpretation.” Thank goodness the convicted criminal Scofield who deserted his family and barely finished grade school (right up Alabama’s alley) told us the right interpretation 19 C later!

If you don’t believe what I just typed, the next self-identified “Christian evangelical” (i.e. Zionist) you meet, ask them to confirm or deny my claim.

  13. For example, he believes that 9-11 may have been divine punishment for the declining faith in God and legitimizing abortion and “sodomy.”

Moore is right. It may have been. Read the Bible.

    • A take like this would be easier to accept if God had attacked unbelievers, pro-choice politicians and sodomites directly rather than just wiping out 3000 random people going about their day, while leaving millions of actual unbelievers, pro-choicers and sodomites unscathed.

  14. Since reports are that Soros is signing up ex-felons to vote against Moore, I can see why Moore would attack him. And Soros is as Jewish as Jack Kennedy was Catholic. 😉

        • PAUL:
LOL — Soros hates Israel, doesnt practice Judaism as, according to him he grew up in a Jewish But anti-Semitic home,” posed as a Roman Catholic and now identifies as an atheist. Other than that he’s a devout Jew. Like I said LOL.

            • As a kid, he worked for the Nazis inventorying the confiscated estates of Jews. Probably used it as a cover of his own superficial Jewish connection but it was ghoulish. Likely the result of his dad’s efforts. He says he liked fooling the Nazis. His true feelings are anybody’s guess. We do know he’s persona non grata in Hungary for his “bring on the invasion of migrants” policies.

          • Are there any damnable lies that Mespo727272 Paul C. Shulte will not tell?

Soros was 13 years old in March 1944 when Nazi Germany occupied Hungary. Jewish children were barred from attending school by the Nazis, and Soros and the other schoolchildren were made to report to the Judenrat (“Jewish Council”) which had been established during the occupation. Soros later described this time to writer Michael Lewis: “The Jewish Council asked the little kids to hand out the deportation notices. I was told to go to the Jewish Council. And there I was given these small slips of paper…. I took this piece of paper to my father. He instantly recognized it. This was a list of Hungarian Jewish lawyers. He said, “You deliver the slips of paper and tell the people that if they report they will be deported.”

Soros did not return to that job; his family purchased documents to say that they were Christians, thereby allowing them to survive the war. Later that year at age 14, Soros posed as the Christian godson of an official of the collaborationist Hungarian government’s Ministry of Agriculture, who himself had a Jewish wife in hiding. On one occasion, rather than leave the 14 year old alone, the official took Soros with him while he inventoried a rich Jewish family’s estate, though Soros did not take part. Tivadar not only saved his immediate family but also many other Hungarian Jews, and George would later write that 1944 had been “the happiest [year] of his life,” for it had given him the opportunity to witness his father’s heroism. In 1945, Soros survived the Siege of Budapest in which Soviet and German forces fought house to house through the city.

–from the Wkipedia article on George Soros.

You’re not doing Moore any more favors than you’re doing Trump nor yourselves, damnable liars.

        • Listen, Esposito, you don’t get to decide who is or is not a Jew. A Jew who does not practice Judaism is still a member of the Jewish ethnic group. We know this because the Nazis killed a great many ethnic Jews who did not practice Judaism. BTW, many ethnic Jews were prevented from practicing Judaism in public and from attending Jewish schools. The Nazis, themselves, forced Jewish children to attend Christian schools. Your procedure, Mespo Torquemada, is vile, despicable, loathsome and pernicious. And you know it. And you don’t care about knowingly being vile, despicable, loathsome and pernicious.

          • Here is what Kati Marton wrote in The Daily Beast in response to Glenn Beck’s repetition of the defamation of George Soros:

“It is well known that the 14-year-old George Soros acted as a messenger of the Budapest Jewish Council, a group of aged and terrified elders who thought if they kept the city’s Jews calm, and followed the Gestapo’s every command, they might survive. Sent to alert Jews to report to various collection points around the city, the young Soros, prompted by his canny father, urged defiance instead. “There was one man I shall not forget,” Soros recalled, “I told him what my father had said. And he answered, ‘Tell your father that I am a law-abiding citizen, that I have always been a law-abiding citizen and that I am not going to start breaking the law now.'” We know how few of those law-abiding citizens survived Eichmann’s barbaric campaign to make Hungary Judenrein. The fact is that only by assuming false identities, through bribery and deception, could people survive that Kafkaesque nightmare. Andy Grove, the legendary founder of Intel, another young Budapest Jew, survived thus, as did my own parents. Raoul Wallenberg, the great Swedish humanitarian, performed his miracles in Budapest partly by forging passports and bribing Nazis.”

And so you can see how the alt.right lie machine shamelessly distorts history by falsely equating the evasion of the Nazi occupation of Hungary with supposed collaboration with the Nazis. Will the alt.right ever tire of adding insult to injury?

            • Mespo Torquemada said, “Yep, I believe the ADL (which incidentally to you apparently doesn’t address his lack of religiosity which of course was my exclusive point) over the categorical denial by the subject himself.”

Mespo Torquemada also said, “As a kid, he [Soros] worked for the Nazis inventorying the confiscated estates of Jews. Probably used it as a cover of his own superficial Jewish connection but it was ghoulish.”

Abraham Foxman, the executive director of the ADL, objected strongly to Beck’s attacks:

“Glenn Beck’s description of George Soros’ actions during the Holocaust is completely inappropriate, offensive and over the top. For a political commentator or entertainer to have the audacity to say – inaccurately – that there’s a Jewish boy sending Jews to death camps, as part of a broader assault on Mr. Soros, that’s horrific.

While I, too, may disagree with many of Soros’ views and analysis on the issues, to bring in this kind of innuendo about his past is unacceptable. To hold a young boy responsible for what was going on around him during the Holocaust as part of a larger effort to denigrate the man is repugnant.

The Holocaust was a horrific time, and many people had to make excruciating choices to ensure their survival. George Soros has been forthright about his childhood experiences and his family’s history, and there the matter should rest.”

Thusly did Mespo Torquemada insist that he objected only to Soros’ lack of religiosity and accused Soros of having done ghoulish work for the Nazis to evade Nazi discovery of Soros’ Jewish ethnicity, which The Grand Inquisitor, Esposito, further disparaged as “superficial” Jewishness, because Soros did not practice the ethnic religion known as Judaism, and despite the fact that the Nazis sought to make Europe free of all Jews whether or not they practiced the ethnic religion known as Judaism that the Nazis forbade them to practice anyway. Mespo727272 has twisted his native tongue so torturously as to be unrecognizable as any tongue more articulate than FUBAR.

              • Mespo727272 said to Paul C. Schulte, “Soros hates Israel . . . identifies as an atheist . . . other than that he’s a devout Jew [sarcasm]”

Mespo727272 also said, “We can start the proof ball rolling with this little film [upstream from here] starring the man himself on the topic of his religion.”

In his interview with Steve Kroft on 60 Minutes, Soros (the man himself) had this to say, “I don’t deny the Jews their right to a national existence, but I don’t want to be a part of it.’”

Is that supposed to be the proof for the statement, “Soros hates Israel”? I’m guessing that Mespo727272 doesn’t deny the Jews their right to a national existence. But might Mespo727272 want to be a part of the Jewish State of Israel? I have no idea. Are there no Jewish atheists in Israel? I have no idea. Must one practice Judaism to be a citizen of Israel? No. There are Christian citizens of Israel.

So what else exactly might Mespo727272 be trying to prove with the video-clip he posted upstream from here, if not the statement, “Soros hates Israel,” because Soros is not a devout Jew, and because Soros wants no part of the Jewish State of Israel?

          • Diane – as I said before, Soros is as much Jewish as Jack Kennedy is Catholic. They were both born into the faith, but really did not practice it as adults.

            • Judaism is an ethnic religion. Hinduism is an ethnic religion. Catholicism is not an ethnic religion. When one ceases practicing Catholicism, one ceases to be a Catholic. When one ceases practicing Hinduism, one continues being a member of the Hindu ethnic group. When one ceases practicing Judaism, one continues being a member of the Jewish ethnic group. Throughout the Roman and post-Byzantine episodes of the Jewish diaspora, many European Jews were prevented by law from publicly practicing Judaism, but continuously persecuted for being Jews, anyway. Your point is pointless, Schulteacher. You have no point.

              • Diane – Catholics, when they stop being Catholics, are called “fallen away Catholics, lapsed Catholics, etc. As far as the Catholic Church is concerned, you are still a Catholic and just have to do your Easter obligations. Then you are all caught up. 🙂

            • More Wikipedia on Soros:

Soros was born in Budapest in the Kingdom of Hungary to a well-to-do non-observant Jewish family, who, like many upper-middle class Hungarian Jews at the time, were uncomfortable with their roots. Soros has wryly described his home as a Jewish antisemitic home. His mother Erzsébet (also known as Elizabeth) came from a family that owned a thriving silk shop. His father Tivadar (also known as Teodoro) was a lawyer and had been a prisoner of war during and after World War I until he escaped from Russia and rejoined his family in Budapest. The two married in 1924. Tivadar was an Esperantist writer and taught Soros to speak Esperanto in his childhood. In 1936 Soros’s family changed their name from the German-Jewish Schwartz to Soros, as protective camouflage in increasingly antisemitic Hungary. Tivadar liked the new name because it is a palindrome and because of its meaning. In Hungarian, soros means “next in line,” or “designated successor”; in Esperanto it means “will soar.”

Key phrases from above: non-observant, uncomfortable with their roots, wryly described as a Jewish anti-Semitic home and changed their name from the German-Jewish Schwartz to Soros, as protective camouflage in increasingly antisemitic Hungary.

The alt.right lie machine has twisted each of the observations in those key phrases to defame Soros. For instance, it would not be too unusual for Jews living in an anti-Semitic country to be non-observant Jews who were uncomfortable with their roots. Nor would a wry sense of humor that describes such a predicament as a Jewish anti-Semitic home be especially unusual. Likeiwse, changing one’s name from Schwartz to Soros to avoid anti-Semitism might also be excusable, at least if one were familiar with the work of Franz Kafka who lived under similar circumstances in anti-Semitic Hungary. But the alt.right lie machine defames Soros on the grounds that he supposedly admitted to being an anti-Semite. The alt.right has no shame nor any decency. And neither do Mespo727272 nor Paul C. Schulte.

              • Diane – would you like to back up how being a Jewish anti-Semite would not be unusual? Personally, I find that statement mind-blowing.

                • Paul:

I’m more amazed than in 300 words or so she still can’t come to grips with the simple truism that an admitted atheist cannot be a member of any anthropomorphic religion by definition. Must not be in her Soros Manual or orders of the day.

                    • Diane – God has designated mespo and me as the persons most qualified to decide who is a Jew and who is not. So, the answer to your question is planet Earth. 🙂 And mespo and I have decided that Soros is NOT a Jew by any definition of the term.

                  • The Ashkenazi Jews are an ethnic group. The Nazis exterminated Jews who did not practice Judaism alongside those who did. You’re pretense of imbecility is imbecilic, Torquemada.

                  • Diane – Kafka is deadly serious. His are cautionary tales to be taken seriously. Kafka might have had a sense of humor, but it did not show up in his writing. Now, there are a couple of funny Russian, Gogol for one, but he is easy to spot.

The statement you reported from where ever was supposed to be deadly serious.

                    • No, Paul. You’re wrong. When Soros described his boyhood home as a Jewish anti-Semitic home he was adding wry humor to a painful experience. Misinterpreting Soros remark as though it were literal is an imbecilic pretense of imbecility for the sake of defaming Soros. It’s the exact sort of low behavior that you and Mespo ought to have left behind on the schoolyard playground long ago.
