CNN Commentator Hilary Rosen Under Fire After Wrongly Calling Georgetown Fan Anti-Semitic

View image on TwitterCNN guest commentator Hilary Rosen has long been something of a live wire on television as when she attacked the wife of Mitt Romney — comments that David Axelrod called “offensive” and President Obama apologized for during the campaign. She has been criticized for her sometimes no-holds-barred approach to advocacy for Democrats.  We had such an exchange on NPR where she was quick to take offense as a lesbian to a discussion on Hillary Clinton’s record.  She is again in the midst of a controversy and could well be sued for defamation (though I think such a lawsuit would be unwarranted).  Rosen (who is Jewish) went on social media to condemn Georgetown student Michael Bakan as an anti-Semitic after he appears in a bacon outfit in this picture. She appears to have missed the fact that his name resembles (and is pronounced) “Bacon.”

Bakan, a Junior, posted the picture in his signature bacon suit during his school’s recent basketball game against Syracuse University.

Rosen went ballistic and posted a tweet declaring  “Look at the guy in the ‘bacon suit.’ This is a Georgetown #Hoyas fans anti-Semitic smear to the Syracuse team.”  She then posted a second tweet piling on with  “Hey bacon-man. #Syracuse for the win. Bigots lose. Bye #Hoyas #Cuse.”

Bakan and others responded. Bakan in a tweet for Rosen. said “Hey, it’s ‘bacon man.’ It’s actually Mr. Bakan — pronounced ‘bacon.’ Just a fun costume.”

Rosen apologized for having “bad info” and took down the tweet. It was an embarrassing moment but not a unique one for the hair-triggered twitter environment.  Notably, Rosen has been critical of Trump’s incautious use of Twitter.

The question is whether this tweet could be enough for defamation. It is clearly damaging to Bakan’s reputation. However, Rosen did the right thing in apologizing and taking down the tweet. Moreover, she was giving her opinion on the outfit, as ill-informed and incautious as it might have been. It would seem a poor foundation for a libel action despite calls for Rosen to be held accountable for the tweet.

Just for the record, this woman is also making a pun rather than an anti-Semitic statement.

  1. Turley gets it wrong, yet again. Hilary Rosen is NOT a Jew. She’s a Leftist.

No Jew would be offended by the bacon costume and you can buy bacon in Israel–and good bacon at that. See https://www.pri.org/stories/2014-05-02/believe-it-or-not-israel-has-excellent-bacon. Even extreme Orthodox Jews have no problem with others consuming pork products. Freedom of choice and to each his or her own, as the case may be.

Rosen, on the other hand, is a pure Leftist, much in the mold of Bernie Sanders or a George Soros, who are also Leftists, not a Jews. Rosen and Sanders, for example, were upset that Trump would recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital because the official Leftist position is that Leftism ALWAYS comes first, before everything, and that means they support the position of the enemies of Jews.

Leftist LOVE trigger words that they use reflexively against anyone they oppose. So always expect to come out of the mouths of Leftists such phrases as “You’re anti-Semitic!” “You’re a racist!” You’re a homophobe!” You’re an Islamophobe!” Etc. Etc. Etc. It’s done brainlessly because Leftists ARE brainless. And speaking of brainless, this also explains Turley doesn’t get it either.

  2. I think he actually hates Muslims and several types of Eastern religious practitioners.

Also, aren’t the players all anti Semetic because they are touching the skin of pigs as the Bible.specifically forbids? They should all be repenting.

    1. Well praise YAWEH! It’s a basketball so they aren’t sinning. But does she watch football? If so, has she repented of watching the pig skin being touched?????

  3. Squeeky – it was a little hard not to get your drift, if you know what I mean. The only thing missing was an illustration. 😉

    1. Tee Hee! There is an old timey word that I discovered while scanning Flossie, and I wish I could have worked it in to the Irish Poem. I thought about Grandma Hooch, but it would have flown over everybody’s heads. I had to look it up when I read it.

I went thru a slew of dirty books on line trying to find it for my crazy uncle, who says that a female teacher in high school had loaned him the book way back in the seventies, but all he remembered was the plot, or alleged plot, and not the name of the book.

Darn, but those Victorians were some sick puppies.

      1. Squeeky – always remember the Victorians were preceded by Caligula and Tiberius, who set standards no one has broken. 🙂

      1. Squeeky – after Kozinski got in trouble for porn on his computer, evidently the moderator does not want to take a chance with JT getting caught with porn on his school computer. 🙂 Ah, censorship. Well, I never look back on what I wrote so I have no idea whether I lost it or not. 😉 I could be being censored all the time and would not know it. In the olden days, JT would name and shame, but now he and Darren just prune away. I just respond to the emails, not the website. So, in the interests of a new Irish Rebellion you could post it again. 😉

  4. Anti-Semite per James Sobran: “Not someone who hates Jews, but rather someone hated by certain Jews.”

View with your eyes, and hear with your ears, stories posted in six main stream newspapers (originals, not photocopies) including The Sun and NYT proclaiming “six million innocent Jews murdered:” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtAnuXl5VZY

Unfortunately, for Judaic practitioners of “holocaustianity” and their surrogates (most of the Western-indoctrinated world, but practically none of the majority of humanity) is that the newspapers are clearly dated from 1913 through 1938. This is decades before the lies finally took hold, courtesy of Hitler and the Russian government and army, who quickly assembled the plumbing the West later claimed Hitler used to murder “six million innocent Jews.” The problem is that it would take about 200 million Jews in 1913 to kill “six million innocent Jews” several times over, and of course, the number Jews was a fraction of 200 million in 1913.

Russia happily participated in the Western “holocaustianity” myth in exchange for Eastern Europe, which the West happily traded away in exchange for Israel. This “trade” directly lead to the USSR murdering about 35 million innocent dissidents, which the West still considers a good trade in exchange for the USSR enabling the West to install Israel in the ME. Which further explains why the West promotes exclusive use of the word “holocaust” for Jews, and finances the Jewish holocaust museum, even when the Eastern Europe and Russian holocaust numbers are multiples larger (and the 6 million number is apparently untrue anyway).

Western powers required oil to power the industrial revolution, and oil was then most prevalent in the ME. The lie of “six million murdered Jews” was required to justify Western military presence in the middle of the oil fields. Note that Soweto bin Bama describes the Israel bond as “permanent,” directly contradicting George Washington’s advice that “all foreign entanglements are temporary.”

In the late 19th C Western powers needed to permanently plant Western-friendly military flags in the middle of ME oil fields. They conspired to use the pagan war mongering DNA descendants of Khazaria, now called “Jews.” The people now called Russians finally conquered Khazaria around 1k AD…around that time, the pagan Kagan (Khazarian for “King”, does the name Kagan ring any bells?) discovered the Rabbinical/Egyptian/Pagan/Mystical Torah (not the other Torah, the OT Torah), dusted it off, and claimed the Rabbinical religion for Khazaria. The West propagated fake news, via the NYT and The Sun, of “six million innocent Jews murdered” to justify stealing Palestine from the local Muslim nomads and making it a “Jewish homeland” to protect the Jews. The rest of the story is well known. The US, Britain, and their surrogates at the League of Nations created Israel by threat of force, as a “Jewish homeland.” (We’ll ignore the fact that about 60% of the world’s so-called Jews don’t need a homeland, rather choosing to live elsewhere. We’ll also ignore the fact that the modern Israeli Sanhendrin Courts with the power to accept or deny claims of legal “Jewish” DNA often deny such heritage claims to persons who thought they had proper papers proving they are descendants of Abraham.)

History is replete with stories that Judaics, in the decades prior to WW2, had had it with Rabbinical tyranny. Common Judaics rebelled, disobeyed, and stopped cooperating with Rabbinical lies justifying their financial thefts from common Jews.

To this very day, Rabbis claim Hitler did God’s work by persecuting Jews. Today, the fastest growing branches of Judaism are the most bitter and racist branches. Modern Israelis today who go against the grain, who deny the modern Rabbis, risk personal and financial destruction. Yes, there are pagan and secular Israeli “Jews” (of alleged Jewish DNA only, not religious) but over time, the ratios of such Israelis only declines, and the ratio of the most vocal and racist branches of Rabbinical Judaism only rises.

  5. Rumor has it that CNN has no viewers and exists at the mercy of millennial, female ad buyers who place ads on that network based solely on their liberal political sympathies.

    1. If you look at the numbers, CNN’s viewership has gone up by more than 25 percent since Trump’s election. He helped them,:)

          1. He calls Isaac the rain man, too. Pretty good company to be in when one considers most of the denizens of this blog. 🙂

      1. “Fake News” from a liberal fraud and merit-less, parasitic beneficiary of “Affirmative Action Privilege,” without which this entity would know only failure. The organ grinder’s monkey “spins” a little more for its benefactor.

  6. Rosen is a wack job, but The Bacon Brothers, Kevin and Michael, put on a great show and I highly recommend catching them live some time.

  7. We need to create a nick name for her based on her real name. “Hillary The 8th”. “Rose In Like Flynn”.
One rose in, one rose out.

  8. Even if your name doesn’t sound like bacon, why would anyone assume anti-semitism for wearing a bacon outfit? Bacon is tasty and is appropriately honored by dressing us as same!

    1. Perhaps it was because he is standing next to a picture of Jesus, who was Jewish. Other than that, I have no idea why she called him antisemitic.

  9. While I have respect for all religions and even people that are atheist, I’m delighted Jewish and Islamic folks don’t eat bacon, means more for me and hopefully keeps the prices down. People need to chill a bit. I thought the entire idea of a bacon costume and a similar name was quite funny.

  10. People who eat bacon often love bacon. You can buy bacon socks, bacon treats for your dogs, bacon earrings.

His name is not anti-Semitic. Eating bacon is not anti-Semitic. His nickname “Bacon Man” is not anti-Semitic. Bacon novelty items, like his suit, are not anti-Semitic.

Sorry for being repetitive, but it seems that extremist Democrats need to be deprogramed from the Saul Alinsky dehumanize your enemy approach.

This is a sore topic for me, as I was called anti-Semitic, repeatedly, by people who should have known better, before the election. I had some issues with Trump, but none of them were anti-Semitism. He has a Jewish family, is friends with Netanyahu, and otherwise has valid bonafides. My dear sweet mother supported Trump early on, and opposed Hillary as corrupt. My mother is one of the kindest, gentlest souls you would ever meet. Her Progressive friends and even relatives on FB savaged her, calling her anti-Semitic, racist, etc. It was absurd and disturbing to see. When I tried to explain that they didn’t need to worry about Trump being anti-Semitic, I was included in the onslaught, too. I’ve never seen anything like. People we knew, and knew well, actually believed it was evil if anyone didn’t vote the way they told them to, and they were supposed to publicly flog and shun them socially. It was highly disturbing.

You know what I did directly after? Something I did not think I’d ever do. I bought a Make America Great Again hat. It’s symbolic support of my parents, and resistance to bullying. As a woman, my ancestors fought hard for the right to vote. No one, and I mean no one, tries to force me to vote any particular way. And anyone who disparages my Mom is suffering from political poisoning, or some other grave imbalance, and cannot be trusted. My mother has been silenced, and has told me she never again wants to honestly express her opinion again on social media. She had also been dealing with severe health issues at the time. The irony of self-proclaimed feminists bullying and silencing the speech of a fellow woman, at such a vulnerable time, is marked.

When I hear a commentator disparage someone as anti-Semitic, not for his word or deed, but because he wore a bacon novelty suit, it drives home the severity of the problem.

    1. Sadly this thing called Trump Hysteria Syndrome is alive and real – real mean, that is. Go Mom and right on for buying a MAGA hat to show your support.

      1. Chinese made Red MAGAT hats are big this Christmas. Da MAGATS are celebrating getting screwed by Stevie Mnuchin. Ya can’t con a con but you can con a T rump voter. For now.

  11. The author of this article needs a better editor. Who writes these blogs? Does JT dictate to someone. I ask because it’s hard to believe that a Law professor would make basic verb tense mistakes.

    1. billmcwilliams – as long as I have been on the blog, JT has not edited his threads. I used to complain about it, but when nothing changed, I just gave up and got used to it. Most of his threads are posted around midnight, EDT. I am willing to cut him some slack since I have made my fair share of errors by thinking faster than I type. 🙂 However, the articles he sends to the newspapers are all edited, so I know he can do it. 😉

    2. If it bothers you enough, you could just avoid the blog altogether. – problem solved.

  12. If anything the Bacon Man is anti Islamic. They’re the ones with the big pork taboo. However, when you couple self righteousness with a particular group, they often usurp stuff not meant for them to add to their baggage. This woman is not only extremely self centered as a member of a particular group, but somewhat dim, not seeing the obvious remark made by Bacon Man. When you call a spade a spade, just about anything can be twisted into use.

    1. But it could be the Bacon Man is….You? There is such a thing as Canadian Bacon although the Brits do it better. and the USA does it fatter.

    1. Mespo – re “pussyhats” I bet she has at least one if not several =) (self) righteous indignation over perceived slights seems to be the MO of The Resistance
