Joe Biden Shown Golfing With Son and a Partner In Ukrainian Deal

We have been discussing the Hunter Biden Ukraine deal and the concerted effort to avoid the question of whether there was profiteering by family members during Joe Biden’s term as vice president. While I do not agree with President Donald Trump that the evidence suggests that Joe Biden pushed to fire the prosecutor to protect his son, there remains the legitimate question of the windfall contract given to Hunter Biden by a figure widely viewed as corrupt in the Ukraine. To make matters worse, Joe Biden declared to the media that he has never, ever, discussed any foreign business deal with his son Hunter, including the Ukrainian deal. Hunter himself said that was untrue in recalling discussing the Ukrainian deal with his Dad. Now this photo shows Joe Biden golfing with Hunter and Devon Archer, who served on the board of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings with Hunter. Did Hunter never explain the working relationship to his Dad? One can understand why the Biden campaign has been pressuring networks to refuse to air Rudy Giuliani and his allegations against Biden. The deal is a legitimate matter for inquiry and Biden has made it worse with his categorical denial.

Biden previously declared “I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings.” He then told media that they are wrong to be asking him about huge amounts of money received by his family during his term and instead “You should be asking him why is he on the phone with a foreign leader, trying to intimidate a foreign leader. You should be looking at Trump.”

The problem is Hunter Biden said that he did speak with his father about Ukraine, according to an interview in The New Yorker.

In a very disappointing “fact check,” the Washington Post seemed to struggle to say that Joe Biden’s statement was not false while saying that it was. The Washington Post has insisted that, after being told about the Ukrainian deal, Biden curtly left it to his son and “that’s not much of a discussion.” The point however is that Biden said that he never spoke at all about any business deal. Period. That is a denial of any knowledge, which was the point of his angry response to a Fox reporter.

None of this excuses Trump’s decision to pressure the Ukrainian president for dirt on Biden. However, we can be equally and fairly focused on both sides of this controversy — calling out both candidates on issues of legitimate concern.

  1. Joe Biden’s theme song, as selected by none other than Justice Clarence Thomas. Don’t be fooled by Creepy Joe’s good ol’ lunchbox Joe routine —->

    “Smiling Faces, smiling faces sometimes
    They don’t tell the truth…”

  2. The “line” with respect to Joe: Burisma was notoriously corrupt. See, the Brits even froze its accounts. Something had to be done.

The “line” with respect to Hunter: Burisma is “clean.” The prosecutor who replaced Shokin says he could turn up no evidence of wrongdoing. The Brits even lifted the “freeze.”

“Investigation”? We don’t need no stinkin’ “investigation.”

  3. None of this excuses Trump’s decision to pressure the Ukrainian president for dirt on Biden.

We see you’re trying to up your web traffic.

You’ll never be as pretty as Jim Acosta

  4. “None of this excuses Trump’s decision to pressure the Ukrainian president for dirt on Biden.”

OK, Professor, exactly what part of THE UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT HAS SAID HE WAS NOT PRESSURED do you not understand?

    1. Yes, Karen and it is established fact that your leader lies on average 12 times a day.

      1. So you’re saying Trump is just playing the political game better than the rest of the lyin’ corrupt pols in Washington? And the lyin’ corrupt fake news media? Nicely done, eh?

        We agree!

        1. That’s wrong anonymous, because you have to be a worldclass douche bag liar with no respect for your listeners – can you blame him? – to average 12 lies a day.

          1. Yes, but he’s “our” worldclass douche bag liar. You have “your” worldclass douche bag liars who have NO respect for y’all. But you seem to believe YOU are NOT being lied to or deceived by the lamestream media propagandists and your beloved Democrat party. Nope your Democrat pols are just fighting the good fight on behalf of the American people? Really? No, seriously, really??

      2. But only in the minds of those who refuse to offer any proof and that adds up to The programmer of the Collective of the Party which meands Anon1 being nothing more than another name for The Collective.

Okay let’s look at the timeline as we lawyers say:

    May 2013
Hunter Biden joins naval reserve after serving as lawyer, lobbyist and government employee at Commerce.

    Feb. 2014
Biden test positive for cocaine and is drummed out of the Navy.

    March 2014
VP Joe Biden takes over as point man in Ukraine for Obama

    April 2014
    Ukrainian Revolution

    May 2014
Hunter Biden with no energy company experience and after being discharged from Navy is appointed to Burisma Holdings Board earning $83,000.00 per month.

    Aug. 2014
    Russia invades Crimea/Ukraine

    Feb. 2015
Prosecutor Viktor Shokin says he will investigate Burisma Holdings for corruption.

    March 2016
Joe Biden orders Ukraine to fire prosecutor Shokin or face loss of $1 Billion in loan guarantees.

    March 2016
    Ukraine officials fire Prosecutor Shokin

    Sept. 2019
Prosecutor Shokin swears under oath that he was ousted because he was leading a corruption probe into Hunter Biden and his dealings with Burisma Holding.

    Nothing to see here?

    1. Plenty to see hear:

“…..material that has been surfacing from The Hill’s “opinion” reporter John Solomon and then echoed by Giuliani seems to originate with one of Ukraine’s richest and most powerful oligarchs who is a former business partner of Paul Manafort and had to flee Ukraine after the overthrow of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych in 2014. He is in Austria, fighting extradition to the United States to face bribery charges.

      His name is Dimtry Firtash.

Viktor Shokin is the “fired prosecutor” at the center of all these stories. As part of Firtash’s effort to avoid extradition from Austria to the United States, he asked Shokin to swear out the affidavit in which Shokin accuses Biden of getting him fired to protect his son Hunter. (There is no evidence any of this happened. There was no investigation of Hunter Biden or the company on whose board he sat at the time Shokin was fired.)

So to review, former Manafort business partner Firtash asks Shokin to swear out an affidavit in which he accuses Biden. The affidavit quickly gets into the hands of Giuliani and Solomon. And who just recently went to work for Firtash’s legal team? None other than diGenova and Toensing, as reported just this week by the Kyiv Post and other publications.

So the duo who we now learned has been working on behalf of the President with Rudy Giuliani to extort the Ukrainian government just signed on to represent the oligarch behind the affidavit in which the disgraced prosecutor says Joe Biden got him fired. And yes, the oligarch who got booted from Ukraine in 2014 is a former business partner of Paul Manafort.”

      1. Anon1:

Give us a rundown on Hunter’s credentials (besides he’s the VP’s son) that qualifies him for service on a natural gas board of directors in a country managed by his father for the US?

        1. Or running a hedge fund which charges high fees, something else he’s done.

          1. hedge fund service is more defensible because you are trying to sell to high net worth investors and that often requires high level social contacts. this is why there’s a revolving door among investment bank positions and higher office. its unavoidable to some degree.

nonetheless, if they want to take Trump’s scalp, let him wield his tomahawk too

            1. and that often requires high level social contacts.

No, it requires a workable model of portfolio construction, ideally better than one the investor could achieve through investing in passive instruments. There’s no indication Hunter or his uncle ever had that skill, and, IIRC, the fees they were charging for their non-skills were obscene. Of course, if it was just a money-laundering operation….

              1. er, that’s what a hedge fund is, that’s a given

its selling them requires convincing high net worth investors one model is better than another. yes, that’s where a lot of social contacts come into play and why all these minimally qualified big names end up on the masthead

people with gobs of money to invest, may just move a piece of the pie from one manager to another, just because so and so is on board over there. as simple as that. so name recognition helps

Okay, let’s call him unqualified. Now what possible reason could a Ukrainian oligarch have for putting the unqualified son of the VPOUS on his board of directors and paying him $83K a month when the per capita income in Ukraine is about $9K a YEAR?

Try that one on for size?

            1. I told you mespo. Surely you get why a lot of people are paid for nothing more than attaching their name to a company. Borat’s name wouldn’t open any doors, even if he’d do it for a dozen chickens a month.

          1. “do you also wonder what Nick Saban knows about home insurance?
            **********************
No but I’d wonder if his son was on the TV spot.

            1. A gas company isn’t on TV and doesn’t much care about retail sales, but impressing hotshots in government and private enterprise would be the name of their game. I doubt they’d pay Nick Saban as much.

              Different markets, same principle.

              This is elementary.

        3. Hunter Biden’s ex wife said he spent all his money on drugs, hookers, clubs, etc. So who wouldn’t want to hire a dishonorably discharged womanizing prostitute-hiring crackhead to sit on its board of directors? Duh.

          1. Cont…

Who then left his own wife to start an affair with his recently deceased brother’s wife, you know, to help each other ‘grieve’ brother Beau’s death.

I don’t see the issue here. As the media keep telling us, Hunter Biden did nothing wrong! Stop trying to make this a “story” about anything even remotely possibly wrong or corrupt coming from the Joe Biden family.

Geez people, leave poor Hunter Biden and his $millions alone.

And let him settle into his new marriage — the one to a hot babe he married 10 days after meeting! Nothing to see here. Nope.

          2. So, you think Ukrainian and Russian oligarches don’t snort coke and hire hookers?

Do you also think they counted on Hunter to balance the books or hit sales targets?

            Really?

      2. There’s an affidavit— if he signed it, then he swore to it, then that’s evidence.
In fact you can’t put on the first piece of evidence without swearing in someone first.
        Evidence 101

  6. Sometimes private interest coincides with pubic interest. Biden was on track to evade inquiry into his dealing in Ukraine. That is contrary to the public interest.

Peering through the flack, I see several unanswered questions, among them why Biden had no problem with his replacement prosecutor, said to have promptly closed the file on Burisma.

  7. At one point, the WaPo didn’t like the prospect of the President-elect using his children to enrich the Trump brand.

Anti-nepotism laws prevent Trump from giving his family members jobs in the administration. But don’t think that’s going to stop them from being active participants in U.S. government decision-making, or using the fact that Trump is president to keep money flowing in. In fact, we could see the president enriching himself and his family on a scale that we normally associate with post-Soviet kleptocrats and Third World dictators.

Shokin wasn’t just investigating Burisma and by extension Hunter Biden, he very likely was connecting the corruption to the VP and the Obama administration.

      1. Anon1 – according to his sworn affidavit, Shokin WAS investigating both Burisma and Hunter Biden.

        1. Shokin is a corrupt liar, which is why the entire West, including the IMF, the EU, and the Obama Administration wanted him fired. You don’t think they took that position to protect Hunter’s 50k a month, right?

“…material that has been surfacing from The Hill’s “opinion” reporter John Solomon and then echoed by Giuliani seems to originate with one of Ukraine’s richest and most powerful oligarchs who is a former business partner of Paul Manafort and had to flee Ukraine after the overthrow of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych in 2014. 2. There are documents that state otherwise. But of course, since you and I want to get all the facts, I’m sure we’re both open to a full investigation and get this settled. Right?

  8. Assuming that Papa Biden is telling the truth, If only there was a legal term that described this situation. . . LIGHTBULBS!!!

Willful blindness (sometimes called ignorance of law,[1]:761 willful ignorance or contrived ignorance or Nelsonian knowledge) is a term used in law to describe a situation in which a person seeks to avoid civil or criminal liability for a wrongful act by intentionally keeping himself or herself unaware of facts that would render him or her liable or implicated. In United States v. Jewell, the court held that proof of willful ignorance satisfied the requirement of knowledge as to criminal possession and importation of drugs.

OH look! Willful ignorance can constitute the element of knowledge in a crime!

    1. Your concern must surely extend to the Trump family and it’s many foreign entanglements. Or did you think they all started from the ground up, like Trump’s grandfather/

      1. ‘this must surely’ No facts but just the weight of the disguised Collective chanting the nonsense.

Now here’s a description of them I ran across yesterday quite by chance while looking for the term to describe the kind of people Obama let in by the extra fifty thousands while banning those who were the victims of genocide. The second term is democide which is the selected murder of groups of individuals. the first three letters caught my attention and sure enough it’s a real dictionary word that some how brings to mind as the Democide National Socialist

        .

  9. interesting article from the Atlantic – regarding Hunter Biden and the Ukraine. The author posits that what Hunter did was perfectly lawful , but socially acceptable corruption.

this is the stuff that is part of “the swamp” in DC

  10. Turley says he does not agree with Trump that evidence suggests Biden pressured the Ukraine to fire a prosecutor investigating a company that employed his son. This is strange, coming from a usually reliable individual who seems not to remember that Joe Biden actually bragged on tape about doing it! Biden not only bragged about it, he gave details.

    1. The prosecutor was not investigating the ” company that employed his son.”

He wasn’t prosecuting anyone which is why the IMF and the entire West, which was looking for the Ukraine’s notorious corruption to be controlled before they provided development funds, wanted him fired. Biden bragged to the knowledgeable CFR crowd about accomplishing that, not aiding his son in kickbacks.

This has been covered by the WSJ, Bloomberg, and the WaPo.

      1. Cokehead son flew abroad on Airforce 2 with daddy and got between $50k to $83k to sit on board of Ukraine energy company. Daddy tasked with Ukraine and China foreign policy responsibilities, cokehead son foreign business interests focused on Ukraine and China. Cokeheads in high demand with private equity and foreign boards. Nothing to see here folks, move on, go home…

        1. The firing of Shokin the prosecutor has been looked at by the press – including the WSJ – in detail and there’s nothing there that isn’t flattering to Joe Biden for a job well done.

If you have info on Joe Biden benefiting by or aiding his son, that would be newsworthy. Let’s see it.

      2. Even if it were true that prosecutor was not investigating Hunter’s company, Joe’s ability to force ouster of prosecutor demonstrates his influence in Ukraine and question still persists as to how cokehead son got no-show sweetheart board gig in country and business sector in which he had zero experience. This is a boomerang for Dumbs no matter how much they try to soft-petal it.

        1. Hunter is not running for office. Being paid to get the family name on company letterhead and reports is not a crime though potentially embarrassing.

          Find a crime.

          1. Neither is collusion but it didn’t stop the fascist left from conspiring to make it a crime.

            1. Michael, we agree collusion is not a crime and a good thing since Mueller did not clear Trump of that accusation. He did say he did not have enough evidence to charge criminal conspiracy which is a crime and a much higher bar.

      3. EXCEPT, the corruption continued! You don’t get to claim innocence when the corruption routine got played over again:

        1. Mrs Biden told him not to run for president again. He is on short leashed and look for it to get yanked soon. Matriarch’s always know best.

      4. Hunter Biden flew on air force 2, which is a taxpayer paid plane and flight in order to engage in personal business which ended with his firm receiving a sweat heart deal worth a cool $1.5 billion. He had 0 right to be on that plane.

Tell me again what experience does Hunter have in the Chinese banking industry?

  11. When a network cuts off Trump or won’t let Guiliani on to speak out on these lies, then I will not watch that network and hence not see the ads displayed. So the companies who put ads on CNN should take note. CNN, NBC, are like the KGB.

    1. Liberty,
The rest of the Trump legal team probably considers it a blessing if the networks won’t let Rudy on.

  12. (music)
Bye Din. His names Bye Din.
What kind of people vote for Bye Din?
Fat kids, skinny kids, …. kids who climb on rocks.
Dem brats, stupid rats… even frats with chicken pox…
    Vote Biden. They vote Biden.
    The dog… kids… like… to BITE!

  13. So Joe Biden doesn’t have any interest in what his kids are doing? Really?????

    1. With or without this scandel I don’t think Joe Biden has the juice to go through the primaries and then a general election successfully. That is a big fear of the Democratic leadership so I think he is gone no matter what. The party is divided so the question is who can replace him? He is on the far left opposing those on the far, far left. Who will take his supporters? Will they end up in the far left or the far far left?

      1. Allan – let’s see how Joe holds up on the next debate. I know there are reports his campaign is covering for him. Tulsi could finish him.

      2. One odds on chance is a group of the newer people in Congress specifically Tusi Gabbard and Colin Powell who finally decided to uphold his oath of office. They have the power right now to set up a second party a Constitutional Democrat Party and so do a number of other factions with that one or under other names caucusing as or with the Constitutional Centrist Coalition.

First it would destroy Pelosi as she would no longer be Speaker.
Second it would cement those involved into a huge voter magnet.
Third it would make their states more likely to get the gold in the Rebuild America Infrastructure effort. while people like Ocasio would be lucky to get three votes and people like schumer wouuld be a powerless after thought.
The effort would pick up huge support from the Constitutional Centrist Coalition while the DINO/RINOs would

and it would save having to ask the question Number One in importance. ‘Would the miliary really uphold thier Oath of Office?.”

Think about it? The reasons Obama would not declare martial law are exactly the reasons our military would support The Constitution per their oath of office.

  14. Mrs. Biden (Matriarch) is going to blow this party up soon and get Joe on an Amtrak train home where he belongs in Lazy Boy chair chillin and playing with grand kids. etc. She has been ready to pull the plug since early in the primary debate season.

  15. Another case of the rich and famous trying to help their kids get a leg up on other kids who are not as well connected. Among other things that happened.

    1. This Ukraine arrangement was a way for Joe Biden to gift his kid without it coming out of his pocket, or having to be disclosed by VP. Left media has some mental block when it comes to who accompanied Joe Biden on Air Force 2 on official state business (Hunter), and who accompanied Jeff Epstein 20+ times on private jet (horn-dog Bill). “Things that make you go hmmm?”

    2. in general, how can you fault people for wanting to help their kids, even if it’s unfair. property is always unfair, is the key insight. we’re all created equal except we all are hardly ever equal in reality.

mass tom jeff wanted a confiscatory 100% estate tax. to address this aspect of human nature. Democrat! lolz
