Lock Him Up! Ranking Democrat Suggests Possible Criminal Charges Against Journalist Matt Taibbi

Below is my column in the New York Post on the recent call for a criminal investigation of journalist Matt Taibbi for perjury by the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. It all comes down to Taibbi’s mistake in adding an “A” to “CIS” – a group involved in the expanding censorship system.  The allegation is completely meritless but Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) did show that you cannot spell authoritarianism without “A.”

Here is the column:

As every elementary student is told, a single letter can change an entire thought.

Leave off an “S” and your dessert turns into a desert.

A missing “R” turns a friend into a fiend.

For journalist Matt Taibbi, the brief accidental addition of an “A” may not only have changed the identity of a group, but, according to a ranking Democrat, put the convict into the meaning of conviction.

Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-VI), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, issued a letter that accused Taibbi of possible perjury because of an error that he made, not in testimony but in a tweet he later corrected.

At issue is Taibbi referring to CISA, the government’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, when he meant to refer to CIS, the Center for Internet Security.

Plaskett’s threatening letter to Taibbi was immediately pushed on MSNBC by host Mehdi Hasan, who was shocked by the added “A” and called for the journalist to be criminally investigated for having “deliberately & under oath misrepresented” the facts.

(It was an ironic moment, as writer Lee Fang noted, given past allegations made against Hasan over false statements.)

For Taibbi, this is only the latest such unnerving moment.

When he was testifying before Congress on government censorship efforts, the IRS sent an agent to his home to look into irregularities on his taxes from years earlier.

Plaskett also attacked Taibbi in the hearing as a “so-called journalist” and said he (and another journalist witness) were “a direct threat” to the safety of others for having reported the censorship story.

And she insisted he reveal his source for his Twitter Files reporting.

Taibbi and others also objected to a demand from Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan for Musk to “identify all journalists” who had access to the Twitter Files.

I testified before this same subcommittee and warned the Democrats not to adopt McCarthy-like tactics in threatening and targeting critics.

Members seemed to take that warning as more of an invitation than an admonition. Immediately after the hearing, figures like former Sen. (and MSNBC contributor) Claire McCaskill denounced witnesses as “Putin lovers,” while current members accused free-speech advocates of supporting “insurrection.”

Democrats have continued to attack virtually every witness who has appeared to discuss the dangers to free speech or the need for transparency on the government’s censorship efforts.

They often attack witnesses and then refuse to let them respond. Recently, Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) used that tactic on a gun-rights advocate in cutting her off as she attempted to explain an answer.

Porter later demanded a perjury investigation as a result of the testimony.

Most chilling about Plaskett’s threatening letter and the MSNBC’s attacks is that they are entirely baseless.

Plaskett told Taibbi, “This mistake is important because, by adding an ‘A,’ you weren’t making a harmless spelling error. Rather, you were alleging that CISA — a government entity — was working with the EIP [Election Integrity Partnership] to have posts removed from social media.”

She added, “When presented with this misinformation, you acknowledged you had made ‘an error’ by intentionally altering the acronym CIS and you subsequently deleted your erroneous tweet.”

The claim that this error was “intentional” is ridiculous. Moreover, and here is the kicker, CISA is involved in the censorship efforts.

As Fang noted on Substack, the EIP listed CISA as one of its key government stakeholders and worked with CISA on censorship efforts.

But this is not about the added “A.” It’s about the loss of any sense of decency and civility in politics.

As someone who comes from a liberal Democratic family, the shock over the Democratic Party’s embrace of censorship is only exceeded by its vicious treatment of journalists and free-speech advocates attempting to expose government efforts.

Despite these attacks and the assistance of an enabling media, the evidence of the government censorship efforts has continued to mount.

We are learning of an array of grants and government-support programs to target, blacklist and censor citizens.

It’s clear Democratic members will continue to seek to intimidate witnesses and deter them from coming forward with free-speech concerns.

In these hearings, I got off light.

When I testified on the Twitter Files before the hearing with Taibbi, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) criticized me for offering “legal opinions” without actually working at Twitter.

It was akin to saying a witness should not discuss the contents of the Pentagon Papers unless he worked at the Pentagon. It was particularly bizarre because I was asked about the content of the Twitter Files.

The content — like the content of the Pentagon Papers — is “facts.” The implication of those facts are opinions.

As with an attack from Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), I was cut off like other witnesses in attempting to explain.

Members can cut off, attack and threaten criminal prosecution, but it will not work.

Censorship systems have never succeeded in destroying ideas, and jailing journalists have never stopped reporting.

That does not mean these abusive attacks will not continue or escalate.

There is a whiff of panic in these efforts as House committees force greater transparency and greater public access to this evidence.

Now it appears these efforts to shield government censorship has come down to spelling. Indeed, if Delegate Plaskett has her way, that added “A” may prove the difference between a free press and authoritarianism.

  1. Turley said: “It’s about the loss of any sense of decency and civility in politics.”

Hello?? Politics, especially Democrat party politics, has never been about civility or decency.

Anyone who believes Joe Biden is a decent man or civilized politician is deluded.
Biden is as nasty, ruthless, entitled, corrupt, and unethical as they come.
Same can be said about Pelosi and Schumer, et al.

These politicians do not rise to their positions of power –and stay there for decades — by being “decent and civil.”

  2. I say very carefully research each and every candidate you think you wish to vote for–Make a fully informed decision. As a woman, I will not vote for a candidate just because she is a woman. Do not use the 30 second commercials as your basis–use them as your starting point for research.
I wonder if Ms. Plaskett (do I say Ms, Mrs., Miss or Hey You!) has ever made a mistake in spelling or grammar, which can completely change the definition of a sentence (i.e. a book on grammar titled–Eats, Shoots and Leaves) or a law that could possibly make a loophole that wealthy taxpayers may use–in addition to elected officials.
Not only do Ds attack and cut off witnesses, Rs do too. There really is no civility in the hearings these days. A witness is subpoenaed, then attacked in hopes of catching them in an error. I’m sure there are those who outright lie with tricky, fancy wording. I hope civility returns but incivility is so deeply ingrained that it will take a long time.
    Thank you Professor Turley.

    1. I agree, but this has been the formula I have witnessed for the last 30 years, the Dems come out an “Bork” a candidate. To Bork someone is to viciously attack the character of someone without merit. An attack by Senator Ted Kennedy on Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork is so famously bitterly abusive, and obviously effective that the term is now a term listed on freedictionary.com: “to disrespect or vilify, esp in order to obstruct a person’s appointment to public office.” The Republicans, on the other hand, always tried to play nice, because they feared the media depiction of being mean. When a Democrat Borked someone, we heard, “It’s just business.” When a Republican did, they were mean. Again, it was very effective in defeating HW Bush, McCain, Romney, and Trump. When some (stress the word “some”) Republicans decided that they no longer cared about being depicted as mean by the media, they helped create this notion that our politics have devolved to incivility. Democrats, on the other hand, have never cared about being less than civil in their quest for power, because they are never depicted this way by the media, but when “some” Republicans actually started fighting back, Democrats upped their game. This, IMHO, is where we’re at in our current political landscape.

  3. So the ranking Democrat member of the Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government is further weaponizing the federal government against its political enemies – which in this case happens to be (non-conservative) journalists doing their job by reporting on censorship efforts by the federal government.

Maybe she thinks it’s the Subcommittee for the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

  4. How will the Democrats conjure up the winning votes to return Groping Joe to the White House when their own polling shows him a Loser well ahead of the campaign?

There is no way they can and do so with any confidence in the outcome by the vast majority of the American Voters.

When the litany of Biden and Democrat failures is sounded even the dimmest of the dim will take notice immediately upon their grasping the part about their own personal economic and financial losses under the Biden Regime.

They got away with it in 2020…..but that old Saw about fool me once exists for a reason….even the gullible are not forgetful.

There are reasons the Democrats love censorship, hate guns, and abhor the Constitution, the Electoral College, and the Rule of Law.

There is a growing movement of folks who do not want to get involved who are getting involved…..and the Democrats shall rue the day when the vast majority of those folks who wish to be left alone understand they have been dragged into the conflict by the actions of the radical Leftists in the Democrat Party, Media, Education, and the Criminal Justice system.

This is going to get very basic and very ugly at some point……and perhaps that is what it shall take to see the end of the excesses by the Left.

Let’s pray that there is a peaceful solution to this ever worsening situation.

    1. If Biden is the dims choice in 2024, he gets reelected. If the republican gets 81 million votes Biden gets 82 million.

  5. Like some others here I wander why a non voting delegate becomes a ranking member of a committee. Also if they have no vote in the House, do they have a vote in the committee? It seems like the Democratic Party does not have someone more legitimate to make its case. Maybe comments like these will spell more flips from legislators to the Republican Party. They are helping republicans to obtain super majorities in state legislatures and virtually eliminating some democratic governors from power. That I can support.
It seems almost every day a comment from a democratic legislator makes me clutch at my 2nd amendment rights.
When I see previous Obama officials attacking Joe Biden for his rule changes on mortgage financing and making it easier for those without good credit to get loans I really start to worry about this administration. This particular Obama official pointed out that it was like bringing back subprime mortgages and that fiasco.
China builds it army, Navy, Air Force, South America slips away, Iran and Saudi Arabia make nice , Israel seeks help from China to curb Iran, yet our president knocks off for the day at 9 am. I guess one has to ask when the missiles start to fly and impact around the world will someone have the nerve to “Wake the Fuhrer”, pardon me “The President” To tell him something bad is happening.

      1. I live in Indiana where an old advertisement was “wander Indiana”. Point taken however. I wander many places but I wonder about this president.

  6. Mr. Turley,
“As someone who comes from a liberal Democratic family,…” reflects similar statements you have made over recent years. Is this statement meant to imply that membership in a political party is genetic and therefore unavoidable and immutable by family members? Many of us have similar backgrounds but are loath to follow or claim membership in a party or cause just because of prior familial circumstances as it implies being nothing more than an unthinking supporter.

Do you bring up the issue to point out that the current democrats are performing differently than the democrats of old? If so, consider the other possibility that your family was deceived into believing that the “liberal Democrats” of old were actually an entity to be admired. After all, the old Democrats were the party of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, re-segregation, front men for corrupt unions and with a paramilitary enforcement wing in the Klu Klux Klan. Such activities of ‘old’ Democrats do not really seem to far removed from the activities of current Democrats.

Perhaps your description and repeated reference hinges on the word “liberal”. The real questions then become what do you mean by “liberal” and does the democratic party (now and in the past) truly share that same definition with you? As a long time admirer, I would certainly appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

  7. The National Socialist Democrat WOKE Party is attempting to take us to a very Dark place. Read the Marxist history of the Twentieth Century. It ALWAYS ends in Genocide.

The only way Biden received 81 million votes was by Dominion voting machines. I expect a repeat for 2024. Uncle Joe Stalin was right. I don’t care who votes. It’s who counts the votes. If you think you had a fair election in 2020 you’re delusional.

    NEVER VOLUNTARILY surrender your guns!!!

The 2nd is the Remedy for Tyranny!

  8. Stacey Plaskett, just like every other temper-tantrum, interrupting, Democrat, is grasping at straws. They hate Matt Taibbi. They hate hearing that the FBI’s covert operation with Twitter to censor Conservatives was uncovered. Communists hate being challenged. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ms. Plaskett reaches out to China to become part of their Belt & Road Initiative. Thank you, Jonathan, for an excellent article.

  9. Democrats — especially women, LGTB, and BIPOC Democrats — feel empowered now to go down the road ot authoritarianism. They’re on “the top,” and they ar milking it for everything they can. This is what happens when people who were previously on the “victim” drug are given a little power. The natural world runs on a hierarchy. Humans have tried to shortcircuit that hierarchy and introduce something they call “democracy.” But the “victims” have shown over and over again that the pull towards hierarchy is stronger than the platitudes about democracy. When they see an opening to get the upper hand and trample on the rights of others…they take it faster than a NY minute.

    1. They don’t have the guns. 100 million plus gun owners with 700 million guns. That number is according to the ATF.

Yes, I think it will come down to the guns.

A man or women with a rifle. Read the history. No Joe we don’t need an F15.

  10. “As someone who comes from a liberal Democratic family, the shock over the Democratic Party’s embrace of censorship is only exceeded by its vicious treatment of journalists and free-speech advocates attempting to expose government efforts.”

I think many on the left should take note of *”comes from a liberal Democratic family”* Turley comes from the left side of the aisle but doesn’t let his leanings interfere with fair interpretations of the law and his desire for freedom of speech.

He might be a little too quiet at times for those on the right, but he is an apostate to those authoritarians of the left. Some desire and believe in the truth, but lately, the left and much of the Democrat Party have given up on everything that makes this country great.

If people don’t learn what is important quickly, our nation will degenerate into a third-world type that most Americans used to consider barbaric.

    1. S. Meyer–
“If people don’t learn what is important quickly, our nation will degenerate into a third-world type that most Americans used to consider barbaric.”
I wish I could disagree with you but I think the degeneration has happened already in many of our major cities. Chicago is dying from lawlessness and yet the voters recently elected a Mayor who is left of Lightfoot and whose initial comments about the teenagers rioting was to excuse them. Then there is Portland, San Francisco, New York, Austin, and the list goes on. The one thing each of these cities has in common is Democrat office holders. If the Democrats retake the House and retain the Presidency, I do not believe the degeneration can be stopped. Thank you for your voice of sanity.

        1. I fear for my grandchildren as well. The only good thing is they are being raised by my children who, while probably more left than me, understand right and wrong and have strong work ethics. THe other thing in their favor is that they are being raised in small, rural communities where the leftists have much less impact. I’m more afraid for any great grandchildren because, unless things change, th country will be under total leftist control by then.

      1. You left out Colorado. Colorado now leads the nation in crime.

The Mile High Blue Sewer fully controlled by the National Socialist Democrat WOKE Party. Today’s NAZIS rule Colorado.

    2. S. Meyer,
      I have been to Afghanistan.
      I have been to Chicago.
I have been to New Orleans.
      I have been to DC.
      I felt safer in Afghanistan.

    3. S. Meyer, you have just explained in a nutshell why so many of us read Jonathan Turley’s blog on a daily basis. We appreciate his refreshing perspective on current events and also the opportunity to engage with others. It’s a wake up call. I sincerely hope that America wakes up! Time is of the essence.

  11. The transformation of America, Canada, and the UK into that which my father fought against in WW2 will soon be complete. Tyranny will follow 2024 if we end up with one-party rule. If only Trump would move out of the way.

    1. Mary, though Trump has some characteristics disturbing to many people, they are inconsequential to the administration of our government. He proved that with his policies.

Too many heads are being confused by the media. Remember when the left piled onto Trump because our allies thought of him as a fool?

If we read Turley’s recent posts, we see that free speech and free people are being abolished in England. Maybe we should revisit those complaints about what our allies think because they also have bitten the apple and are destroying the freedoms of their citizens. Taking criticism from that type of ally is an honor that one believes in freedom.

If anyone believes that Trump is the problem, look again. When Bush was President, the signs said: “Kill Bush”. When Kavanaugh was nominated, there was a near insurrection. When the decision on Roe was made, we almost had a Supreme Court assassination.

Whether one likes Trump or not, he is not the problem. The left is, and no matter who the Republicans choose, we will see the same things happening. For the left, this is not a matter of politics. It is a power grab by the left to create an authoritarian regime. What happened to Trump will happen to any Republican candidate.

      1. S. Meyer,
What I find odd is in their attempt at power grab, they do so by weakening our society? The crime rate in major, Democrat ran cities is going sky high. People are leaving deep Blue states for Red states due to crime, high taxes, high cost of living. How do they gain more power by destroying these cities? By driving people away?

I agree about what can happen to Trump can and will happen to any Republican candidate. Some in MSM are already calling DeSantis Hitler.
Some say America is in a decline and it is Trump’s fault. I say it is wokeism. I read an article recently that some guy did a deep dive into when wokeism started using woke related words on the internet. The year: 2012.

      2. I understand what you are saying and I think you are mostly right. The left hates all republicans (RINOs exclude), but I think the hatred of Trump goes beyond the fact that he is a republican. I voted for Trump in 2016 and in 2020. I think he was a great president, but I would prefer a candidate who is not so hated by so many people. I think there are a lot of independents and democrats who might vote for a republican who stands for policies very similar to Trump’s but will not vote for Trump no matter what. I am talking about someone like DeSantis. I actually think Trump would be the better president, but I believe that DeSantis has a better chance of being elected.

        1. Desantis is not strong enough or well versed enough in worldly (World Financial, Banking, Economic, Political, Military, etc.) affairs – maybe in 4 -8 years if he works at it.. It is sad that the Bushes, who are always undermining Trump, have bankrolled Desantis, filling him with illusions of grandeur for winning in 2022. I have it on very good first-hand authority that FL went all Red because it is a Trump state as much as it is a Desantis state and because he promised FL he would NOT run for any office and be dedicated the next 4 years to being Gov. Miami, the Cuban-Americans, et al make it very clear that they are Trump Supporters First and are irritated that Desantis is challenging him. They want Trump for President & Desantis as Gov. Check it out.

          1. I do not wish to engage in negatives. The reality is that DeSantis is a strong candidate. However, so is Trump and Trump is getting a lot of support from Florida pelicans. Those politicians like DeSantis as well.

A club was formed to back Trump called Trump45 now Trump 47. The support he gets from that group is amazing but some are becoming angered at DeSantis for no reason at all and falling into the Democrat trap causing Republicans to eat their own.

        2. .Wokeism is the pressing problem of the day. Your understanding and desires are reasonable. The Democrats want to cause division among Republicans, so I won’t feed them with any negative opinions I have about any of them. Your choice DeSantis is excellent, and I hope he gets eight years. Instead of debating negatives, when I reregister as a Republican, I will choose the one I believe best suited. I won’t add to the division.

The essential thing is to defeat the Democrats on all levels, even if I hate the Republican who is running. Not only do we need to win big we need to weaken their power at all levels.

Right now, Trump is taking the most flack protecting the other candidates.

      3. TY, ‘S. Meyer..’ and TY Prof. Turley. The ‘brainwashing’ which discredits Trump for his personality flaws (..while those of someone like ‘the Big Guy’ are ignored as he destroys western civilization while profiting handsomely under the table..) As a ‘Classic Liberal’ who voted for Hillary in 2016, I must now say that Trump turned out to be a damn good President in many areas.. and now see he is the only candidate strong enough to clean up the mess of the last 2 years…Soon after Trump took office, I could not believe any President would make the racial slurs CNN was reporting Trump made.. I found the FL speech Cooper was ‘quoting’ and saw that CNN had selected words here & there out of a paragraph to create a whole new sentence out of context, blatantly twisting what Trump actually said with no racial bias whatsoever…This is the kind of campaign we must all be strong enough to walk away from and see how a global ‘authoritarian regime is terrified of losing its political and financial control & corruption because someone like Trump wants to restore government to its basic original factory settings by the Founding Fathers..

      4. @CollinRugg

“Spend less time arguing about Trump vs DeSantis and more time talking about how the 2020 Biden campaign colluded with the CIA to spread the false narrative that the Hunter Biden laptop story was ‘Russian Disinfo.’

Neither Trump or DeSantis will see the Oval Office if Democrats are allowed to collude with our intel agencies to win elections.”

      5. S. Meyer: I am thoroughly sick and tired of the “Trump’s a crude loudmouth, but he was a good leader” excuse for his established lack of presidential qualification. Trump had NO “policies” other than doing everything humanly possible to garner attention, praise and adulation because he has a mental illness called narcissism that drives everything he does. Trump took the successful economy created by Obama from the ashes of the disasterous presidency of Dubyua and created the worst recession since the Great Depression. He started a trade war with China that resulted in shortages of computer chips and consumer goods, causing prices to go up and contributing to inflation–for which Republicans try to blame Biden. He took a public health problem and turned it into a crisis by lying about the seriousness, spreading doubt about public health measures, including vaccination and hogging the spotlight at CDC press conferences by pretending to know something, anything, about what it would take to stop setting new daily records for deaths and infection. He had no plan for vaccine storage or distribution, much less marshaling assets for getting doses into arms. He was impeached twice, which is a record. He cheated his way into office by colluding with Russian hackers, and tried to cheat his way into staying in office by tring to get swing state election officials to rig the vote. He lied about losing the election, claiming it was “rigged”,which led to his fans attacking the Capitol. He stole classified documents and then lied about returning them. He also hid some of them. He paid off a porn star right before the election because he was afraid that unborn-baby-saving Evangelicals wouldn’t vote for him if they knew about his liaison with a porn actress. He got caught, and most Americans hope he will be brought to account for all of the laws he broke trying to defeat the will of the American people. The only legislation he got passed was tax breaks that mostly benefitted the wealthy–which drove our national debt to record levels. What “policies” were actually good for America?

You accuse the evil “left” of power grabbing–really? How about Florida banning books, the war against LGBTQ people and Disney, Georgia passing a law trying to remove Fani Wilis from office just because she’s investigating Trump’s effort to steal votes in Georgia? How about all of the Republicans trying to take away a woman’s right to choose, gerrymandering and trying to keep probable Democrats from voting? How about Republicans in Tennessee kicking out the black members, but not the white one, who dared to speak against gun violence? Then, there’s pathetically stupid Jim Jordan expending Congressional resources trying to defend a private citizen against state criminal charges.

What happened to Trump is that he is being brought to acccount for his crimes, and if any other Republican candidates do the same thing, they, too, should be brought to justice..

    2. Why?
Where is the proof of all the allegations?
And why would giving the democrats what they want help the GOP’s case?

  12. Turley left out the fact that Taibbi lied about the number of tweets censored. Turley conveniently leaves out the fact that Mehdi Hassan exposed the sloppiness and intentional misrepresentation of the facts. As a journalist with the kind of ‘gravitas’ that Taibbi supposedly had he shouldn’t have been making those kinds of mistakes.
Mehdi Hassan also exposed the problem of Taibbi taking info at face value without verifying the sources. Taibbi was essentially a parrot for Elon Musk.

“I was asked about the content of the Twitter Files.”

Turley was asked to parrot what he read and offer his opinion without any understanding on how twitter internal procedures work. Just like Taibbi, Turley was used to lend credibility to unverifiable information and Mehdi Hassan exposed that when he interviewed Matt Taibbi.

    1. “Taibbi was essentially a parrot for Elon Musk.”
“Turley was asked to parrot what he read”

      Svelaz has Parotitis.

He is probably sterile already, but has ended up with a sterile mind.

      (Parotitis, Mumps)

  13. To me, the most troubling thing about Representative Stacey Plaskett’s call for a criminal investigation of Matt Taibbi is that unquestionably she knows better. Anyone with her considerable legal background would, especially one that included a serious study of Constitutional law. If she was dumb like Maxine Waters her call for a criminal investigation could be dismissed easily. But she is not. She and Waters do, however, have one thing in common: both are willing to do anything to retain and regain the power of the Democrat party even though that party is reshaping America into something that the vast majority of all Americans do not want or even recognize. Can you imagine Waters standing idly by while a drag queen lap dances on one of her grandchildren? Would Plaskett want that for the children of her Virgin Island compatriots? I don’t know. Maybe she and Waters would have that in common as well.

      1. One advantage would be expendability. A party could have a delegate take the reigns of a controversial committee and if the effort goes South on them and the voters remove the delegate from office as a result it won’t affect the number of that party’s members for the purpose of controlling the House or the Senate. Plus, they can levy all blame on the delegate for the committee’s failure and wash their hands of the controversy.

  14. I completely understand her frustration. She is fighting a battle of intellect and is deeply frustrated. In her stupor she lashes out. We are seeing this more and more with equity hires. They are being brought into a conversation they have no business being in. So frustrating for them. She would be much better suited to working at a post office service counter. Poor old gal.

  15. Plaskett belongs in a Big Bowl of Stupid –along with Hank ‘Guam might capsize’ ….and most of the elected Democrats on the Hill who have shown themselves to be dangerously unethical, unintelligent, immoral, dishonest, ruthless, lawless authoritarians.

Republicans need to match these Dems at their game and subpoena multiple Biden officials a day…..issue subpoenas every single day…keep them flying out the door. And then impeach Biden and drag his dirty laundry through the mud for the next year and a half. Doesn’t matter if Senate won’t convict, it is time to hit Biden hard and keep hitting, every single day, relentlessly. Just like Democrats do to Republicans and Trump.

  16. We have to be honest here: at this point it is just our Dem party. Just them. Other members of other political parties don’t even come close to Dem malfeasance and corruption. Very few parties that have EVER existed do. They are absolutely vile totalitarians intent on taking full control of every aspect of our lives, relegating our freedoms to the ash heap, threatening actual violence and imprisonment quite openly, and they will never stop now. They must be marginalized or squashed. Let America be a positive object lesson for once: act, vote, speak accordingly.

    1. Which other parties? I wish we have other viable parties. Only one other has any power–at least for now, as little as it might be. This summer, on July 14th, it’s not just Bastille Day, but the 90th anniversary of one-party rule in Germany. Took less than six months from the time Hitler was appointed chancellor for the National Socialists to outlaw all other political parties. I wonder how long it will take from January 2025 for the Dems to accomplish that and other horrors in the USA.

    2. James,
      Well said.
“Let America be a positive object lesson for once: act, vote, speak accordingly.”
      That right there.
One of the reasons why I enjoy the good professor’s blog is the chance to read some of you and others POVs.
Of course, there are the . . . what was that Harry Potter reference? Disruptors?
      Just scroll past them.

      1. @Upstate

Thank you, and likewise, you are always very incisive. I really appreciate the candor of the generally smart posters and readers here all around.

    1. @mistressadams

Yup. And here I was thinking actually reading our Constitution was a requirement to serve. 🙄 These people are being hired now, not elected.
