RES IPSA HITS 80,000,000

crowd vj dayThis morning, Res Ipsa passed the 80,000,000 mark in views on the blog.  We have used these moments to give thanks for our many regular readers around the world and share our traffic data to give you an idea of the current profile of readers around the world. We do not have a running data page so these periodic postings allow our community to see the traffic profile of our blog. Because of the growth of the blog, we have gone from million to five million view markers. So let’s get at it.

As always, I want to offer special thanks for Darren Smith, who has continued to help manage the blog and help out folks who encounter posting problems.  I also want to thank our editors Kristin Oren and Hartwell Harrison for their amazing work proofing posts on a daily basis to remove my embarrassing typos (as well as others who alert me to typos or any violations of the civility or copyright policies on the blog). They have greatly improved the quality of this blog.

In 2023, we posted another record year in traffic and appear likely to exceed that number in 2024.

So here is our current profile:

As of this morning, we have  21,774 posts and 1,348,278 comments. We have also continued our steady rise on X and currently show over 653,000 followers.  We have over 20,300 people who follow us on WordPress (doubling the number of followers in roughly the last six months) and by direct emails (which you can subscribe to with the box on the right side of the blog home page).

In the last month, our ten biggest international sources for readers came from:

  1. Congrats Mr. Turley, it’s good to read someone who often writes about seeing ‘the bigger picture’.
As someone who has (mostly) turned away from mainstream news, it’s refreshing. Thank you.

  2. OT, yeah, how to alienate even more of your base,
Biden declares 2024 Easter Sunday date as ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’

New York Governor Kathy Hochul Confronted At Slain NYPD Officer’s Wake

Yeah, her and Democrat policies are the ones responsible for that NYPD officer’s death.

    1. And Biden forbids religious imagery on Easter … making his intention crystal clear to give a big middle finger to Christians on their most important holiday.

  3. Why would so many post a comment under the flag of being anonymous ? Even the most prominent legal minds do not hide behind anonymity.

    1. People who post anonymously aren’t necessarily in the BOT-ROT club. Once you know the BOT-ROT name, you can skip over their comments because you know it is a waste of time. I tend to read the anonymous comments.

  4. I Enjoy the Professors Blog a lot. Never miss reading it. Thanks to the professor for writing it. I read to learn, I always learn something when I read Res Ipsa

  5. I believe it is the result of so many people concluding that Res ipsa loquitur no longer has any application to a judicial system that has been so perverted for so long, that the clinical term of “Normal Bias” could be used as the guilty parties alibi. Said another way , they would stand before you and attempt to deny having 2 good legs if they thought it would help prevent them from being held accountable for walking in there.

  6. So Anonymous, DM and all your other personalities. If you believe this to be such a troll riddled website trash heap of the internet offering views diametrically opposed to your, why do you stay?

  7. I’m glad to see people getting more interested in US law now that in America 2.0 the concept of “justice” has pretty much been neutered by lawfare.
Our constitutional protections don’t come into play until defendants are bankrupt and cop a plea to whatever charge they put in front of you.
There is hope. Someday around 2035 the Supremes will rule that in 2016 – 2035 constitutional protections vanished, “and we beg the progressive junta that you reinstate them or… or…o well. We tried.”
Kids, it is already over. The country has forever been fractured by a growing low quality population that is dumb as a box of rocks, and weak as a toddler.

I’d advise you to stay out of mountainous terrain, for fear of rocks retaliating for your insult.

  8. Jonathan: Congratulations. 80 million “hits” and counting. Sounds like a lot. I am not website tech nor do I have my own website. But I asked myself this Q: Is the number of “hits” a meaningful measure of a website’s success? I did a little browsing and it seems there are other metrics that are more important. One site said: “Most web pages consist of multiple files, which means each visit will actually register several hits. So using the number of hits to gauge your website’s popularity is going to result in some inflated and inaccurate numbers. This may be good for your self-esteem, but it’s not very useful as a website metric”.

Other website evaluators agree and emphasize other more important metrics like exit rate, average time on a page/site, pages per visit, etc. In other words, if a visitor click away as soon as getting on a site, a website is failing to get attention. Another important metric is the number, length and quality of “Comments” on a website. Your columns get about 100-300 comments per column. But it’s usually the same people who consistently comment on a daily basis–like me. Rarely do I see someone new commenting. Which maybe means the real interest in your columns needs to be re-evaluated.

    1. Maybe people don’t feel the need to comment or maybe they a heed a quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln” Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt – It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid.”
Too late for some of the people who post comments,,,

  9. It’s not easy to thread that needle between constitutionalism and politics, but JT does it every day. It is also very refreshing to have place where the goalpost isn’t moving.

  10. Congratulations on the benchmark. And I think it’s marvelous that the undoubtedly significant percentage of hits that the ignorant trolls contribute only increase your value of your important voice and platform. Bravo for never responding to any comments, and please continue.

  11. Thank you for the free speech platform Mr. Turley. The Site is like a peanut field, full of unearthed goobers and rich in political fertilizer!

  12. Thank you for providing thoughtful and fearless analysis of the law – both good and bad. As an attorney, I appreciate your removing most of the legal mumbo-jumbo to get at the heart of the issue at hand. Please continue, counsel.

  13. Congratulations! You deserve it. You are one of the most interesting people to listen to and read. You’re right up there with the great Charles Krauthammer. I’ve grown to respect and trust you more and more with each post and tv segment.

  14. Always a few moments of sanity amidst all the insanity! THANK YOU, Jonathan.

  15. Outstanding!
Keep up the good work, professor!
And thank you to Darren, Kristin and Hartwell!
