“Guillotine! Guillotine! Guillotine!”: GW Protesters Call for the Heads of President and Others to be Cut Off

For years, I have written about the analogy of what is happening on our campuses to the French Revolution, including faculty enablers becoming the targets of radical groups. Many faculty were silent as conservatives and libertarians were purged from faculties. Some even supported cancel campaigns against professors and speakers with opposing views. Now the analogy has become even more poignant on my campus of George Washington University after protesters held mock tribunals and called for the heads of the President, Provost, and Board of Trustees to be cut off by guillotine.

A video has emerged over the weekend from the enactment outside of my office with students gleefully cheering for the beheading of faculty, administrators, and board members. They specifically “convicted” President Ellen Granberg, Provost Christopher Bracey, the Board of Trustees, @GWPolice, and others according to the poster of the video.

I discussed earlier how the D.C. police refused to clear the street outside of the law school and next to the quad. In D.C., it often matters what you are protesting in determining whether action will be taken.

As for the guillotine video, the Post Millennial reported on the scene:

In the mock tribunal, the woman asks “How do the people find you?”

The crowd shouts, “Guilty!” then “Guillotine! Guillotine! Guillotine!”

“Bracey, Bracey, we see you! You assault students too. Off to the motherf*cking gallows with you,” the woman chants, along with the gleeful activists.

Moving on to the Board of Trustees, she states “On the charges of having a vested interest in the genocide of Palestinian people as they profit off Zionist weapons and purchases that you refuse to divest the apartheid as they line their pockets. The people find you.”

“Guilty!” The crowd screams with a mix of mob rage and joy.

“To the Guillotine!” the girl yells. “Board of Trustees, we charge you with genocide. I hope all that money is gonna save you when you’re rotting in jail.”

The crowd calls out President Grandberg, as well. “On the charges of using our tuition dollars to fund genocide, and selling out students to Zionist interest, the people find you?”

“Guilty!” The crowd yells.

“As you already know where I am sending her,” she adds, referring to the guillotine. “Her and her f*ck *ss bob.”

Fortunately, we got rid of shop in many schools years ago so the actual construction of a gallows may prove challenging. Amazon can deliver a guillotine but it is only five inches tall so it might be a bit of a Spinal Tap moment for the new Jacobins.

Few of us expect tumbrils to roll in Foggy Bottom. These students clearly thought that this was funny and no one believes that they are turning into little Robespierres. However, the rhetoric of these protests have displayed violent and unhinged elements – fueled by radical activists from Antifa and other organizations.

The protesters have already succeeded in forcing concessions from universities like Brown, Northwestern, and Rutgers. The growing protests have also clearly spooked the White House, particularly with the chant “Genocide Joe” catching on across the country. At GW, that image was projected over the large flag hung by the school.

The protesters are likely to take solace in the fact that the Biden Administration just reportedly put a hold on an ammunition transfer to Israel. It is not clear if this will be a mere symbolic hold that will be lifted or something more significant. Israel is preparing the long-announced offensive in Rafah in southern Gaza where the remaining Hamas fighters are located.

  1. So, somehow, the alleged presence of a handful of Hamas fighters justifies the destruction of a city and thousands of civilian, non-combatants regardless of their support for Hamas? And you claim to believe in the rule of law?

    1. Six battalions is a little more than a handful.

By the way, Hamas could end this all today by surrendering.

      1. @Anonymous: Re: “Six battalions is a little more than a handful….” in response to “me how the alleged presence’. The history of international warfare, the two theatres in which the USA fought in WWII, is enough to provide the intelligent reader enough insight as to how ridiculous the comment was regarding the unfortunate fate of non-combatants who may, or may not have been in support of their nation’s policies. War is hell, and wiser heads should know better to keep clear of the path to it. Otherwise, “Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war!”

        1. Did you misunderstand my comment or am I misunderstanding yours?

My comment was simply that the presence of six BNs or Hamas fighters sufficiently justifies Israel’s actions to take them out and that under the LOAC collateral damage is not unlawful. Was it my comment that you found to be ridiculous or the comment of the other Anonymous who wrote the comment about ‘the alleged presence of a handful of Hamas fighters justifies…’

There are so many Anonymi (?) on this site that it’s hard to keep track of who’s responding to whom.

If I’ve misconstrued your comment, I apologize.

          1. Re:If I misconstrued… I suppose I took the long way ‘round to suggest that, based upon what history has taught us, the post you chose to respond to was inane and not worthy of an intelligently crafted rebuttal.

    2. 100 years of pushing Jews into the sea.

Murder, rape, and torture in the pursuit of social justice is no ethical vice.

Democracy has consequences. Proponents of majority/dictatorial rule should pay heed.

  2. Soon their financial backers will be giving them little red books to wave and dunce caps for their victims. As dumb as college students are today they’ll think the red books are marvel classics.

  3. This call for the use of the guillotine to be applied to your political opponents is very strange. The use of this instrument is commonly considered to be one of the most despicable actions to be found throughout the course of history. It can be found among the acts of public disembowelment and crucifixion to be one of the most heinous crimes against mankind. When they say “by any means necessary” we should take them at their word. Some will be encouraged to try to carry out the genocide that they call for. They are ignorant of history by design.

  4. The muslims and their symps don’t need a guillotine–they use their swords.

    1. Yes. In addition the appalling nature of calling for the execution of people you don’t like, the historical error was a cherry on top.

  5. Well, at least they didn’t shout “Death to America”…. oh, snap, they did.

  6. “Turley, Turley, we see you! You work for Fox News. Off to the motherf*cking gallows with you,” Gigi chants, along with Dennis.

  7. George, you dismiss the threats as silly kids acting out with no bad intent. That is until a whack job takes the rhetoric literally and buys a machete. Threat against the supreme court judges enticed one such whack job to bring a gun with the intent to kill Judge Kavanaugh and possibly his family. Keep in mind that there are a good number of non-student instigators in this mob who would not think twice about finding that one unstable person to do their bidding.

    1. @mccartyae,

Paranoia aside, it may just be students being rhetorical. Nothing is without risk. I’m confident it’s just merely rhetoric. Students are going to be engaging in all kinds of protest activities like conducting mock trials and making speeches that will include incendiary and offensive rhetoric. If you’ve never been to a protest I can see why there would be concerns. That’s par for the course on some protests. As long as it’s just rhetoric it’s protected free speech activity.

  8. Hopefully Israel will be able to find an ally with a spine soon!

    1. They created these little monsters, it is only fair that they pay the price for having done so.

  9. Why do we let a small group of hoolagans run roughshod over our entire culture? At Northeastern University for example, maybe 200 to 300 protesters got all he attention. There are nearly 20,000 students on campus. Sounds like a remake of animal farm.

  10. If there’s a historucal reference, I prefer the French revolution. They ate their own in that one, just like today ….Fun times

  11. The mock trials are just that, mock trials. How is this different than the calls to hang VP Mike Pence during the Jan 6 riots?

As it is with any protests, rhetoric like this is going to be around and what the professor strangely neglects to point out is that it’s still protected speech. Students are doing exactly what the professor suggests when students wish to protest. To hold it outside and that is what they are doing. Can’t say they are being disruptive, but they are certainly exercising their free speech rights.

Of course students are going to engage in such activities as a form of expression and thats fine. But it seems the professor wants to portray this as a more sinister event that may merit a police response. However the police seem to understand that mere rhetoric is not enough to engage the students in policing their conduct because it’s still protected free speech activity.

It seems the protesters are having an effect and that is the point of these protests. The professor seems to be annoyed by the success of their endeavors instead of recognizing the fact that this is protected free speech activity.

    1. Don’t forget your words George when the Jacobins come for you.

  12. These children should have read a little bit further down the road and they would have found out that those who introduced the guillotine ended up on that same scaffold as the star attraction at least until their capital appendage ended up in the basket.

    1. “Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre was a French lawyer and statesman, widely recognized as one of the most influential and controversial figures of the French Revolution. Died 10 Thermidor, Year II July 28, 1794, Place de la Révolution, Paris
Cause of death Execution by guillotine”

    2. GEB said: “These children should have read a little bit further down the road”

Maybe they should also have bothered to discover the difference between the guillotine and the gallows, even if the histronics were entirely for theatrical effect. That might only make them seem a tiny bit less stupid and ignorant, but they can’t afford to pass up the slightest help in that area.

  13. Just when I think they’ve gone too far, they go further. Good gracious!

  14. Professional agitators who are funded by George Soros and the anti-American radial left, Marxists are whipping the mob into a frenzy. The main stream and legacy media are complicit or asleep at the wheel and thus the flow of truthful information is limited. This will not end well if it is allowed to continue. There were many in the mid to late 1930s who miscalculated a virtual unknown and rising leader. His agitators, The Brown Shirts, were later replaced by the SS and Gestapo.

These so called “protesters” will be the next leaders, attorneys, judges, and university presidents. This is a foretaste of our future.

    1. Quit calling them Marxists. They couldn’t make a rational thought about economics if their lives depended on it. They’re also not Communists. Maybe Trotskyites, maybe Wester-European commie types like Gramsci, but not real communists that ever had to run a country somewhere for real. Real communists that have had to manage nations usually take rabble like this and lock them up. Or let them work for their food. They don’t let them disrupt university classes.

And what’s more here, understand, Soros is what Marx called a “capitalist,” Why does one of the biggest capitalists in the world fund a bunch of nonsense causes which are obvious nation wreckers?

Ill explain it. He is a GLOBALIST as all capitalists tend to be. They do not care about NATIONS. They are not PATRIOTS. They like breaking down boundaries to the free movement of labor, goods, ideas, and capital.

Soros hates most of all, the PRC. The Communists who actually have to run a country, the Chicoms if you will. He hates them most. He wants to get rid of them. He also hates the US. And Russia, and the DPRK, and Israel!

Why, all these? Because to destroy SOVEREIGNTY as such, you have to destroy the big nations. US, China, and Russia. and the nations who are little but also act on their sovereignty. like Israel, or the DPRK

Read this folks, if you want to understand why Soros and his ilk fund agitators like BLM or these outfits. It’s not to help Palestinians you can bet on that! Nor more than BLM helps blacks.

We should arrest Soros and the billionaires like him and charge them as racketeers. Larry Fink for example, an anitrust racketeer if we have ever had one. After fair trials and due process, they will get due punishment.

    1. If they’re smart they’ll be saying, “Thank God for the Second Amendment.”

  15. So, we are in the midst of a repeat of the French Revolution – you know the one that followed ours but instead of being led by rational men of a secure moral grounding, this time we have well paid Robespierres leading the equivalent of hordes of illiterate peasants filled with bloodlust. It’s now or never – rational discourse is useless against fanatics.

    1. @whimsicalmama

Ecactly. The people in question are too ignorant and too privileged and feral. They complain that the rest of us care about ‘nuance’. Ultimately this a parenting issue, and if we don’t resolve it soon we are simply f*****. Very soon all kids will be is brainless and feral, and generationally, we won’t be able to fix it.
