“I Gave Up Shame Years Ago”: Clinton Denounces Trump for Doing What She Did in 2016

I gave up shame years ago.” Those words from actor John Lithgow appear to have been taken to heart by Hillary Clinton who has severed any sense of self-awareness or shame in her public comments. Lithgow, who played Bill Clinton in Broadway production of Hillary and Clinton, appears to have inspired the subject of his play. In a recent interview, Hillary Clinton heralded the prosecution of former president Donald Trump in Manhattan as “election interference” by keeping “relevant information” from voters before an election. For those of us who criticized Clinton for the funding of the infamous Steele dossier, it was a perfectly otherworldly moment.

In the interview, Clinton went after the Supreme Court for delaying a trial of Trump despite the push by Special Counsel Jack Smith for a verdict before the election. She then left many in disbelief with the following statement:

“And the one going on now currently in New York is really about election interference. It is about trying to prevent the people of our country from having relevant information that may have influenced how they could have voted in 2016 or whether they would have voted.”

(MSNBC/via YouTube)

In the same election, it was Hillary Clinton’s campaign that lied about funding the Steele dossier and then hiding the funding as a legal expense through then Clinton General Counsel Marc Elias.

The Clinton campaign staff has never been known for transparency. Buried in the detailed account is a  footnote stating that Elias “declined to be voluntarily interviewed by the Office.” Likewise, John Durham noted that “no one at Fusion GPS … would agree to voluntarily speak with the Office” while both the DNC and Clinton campaign invoked privileges to refuse to answer certain questions.

Elias, his former partner Michael Sussmann, and the campaign were later found involved in not just spreading the false claims from the Steele dossier but other false stories like the Alfa Bank conspiracy claim.

It was Elias who managed the legal budget for the campaign. We now know that the campaign hid the funding of the Steele dossier as a legal expense.

New York Times reporter Ken Vogel said that Elias denied involvement in the anti-Trump dossier. When Vogel tried to report the story, he said, Elias “pushed back vigorously, saying ‘You (or your sources) are wrong.’” Times reporter Maggie Haberman declared, “Folks involved in funding this lied about it, and with sanctimony, for a year.”

Elias was also seated next to John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chairman, when he was asked about the role of the campaign, he denied categorically any contractual agreement with Fusion GPS. Even assuming that Podesta was kept in the dark, the Durham Report clearly shows that Elias knew and played an active role in pushing this effort.

Elias is now ironically advising Democratic campaigns on election ethics and running a group to “defend democracy.” He is still counsel to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) headed by Rep. Suzan Kay DelBene, D-Wash. Elias was later severed by the Democratic National Committee from further representation and has been previously sanctioned in federal court in other litigation.

Notably, the Federal Election Commission sanctioned the Clinton campaign for hiding the funding as a legal expense. The Clinton campaign litigated the issue and insisted that the term is broadly used to cover a wide array of payments through counsel. That is precisely what the Trump team is arguing in the Manhattan case.

Lying to the media and hiding the funding was a conscious effort to hide “relevant information that may have influenced” voters. With the help of the media, these false stories were spread throughout the country and later were used to start the Russian collusion investigation.

Famous philosopher and mathematician Blaise Pascal once declared that “the only shame is to have none.” Hillary has finally achieved that ignoble status. She appears now to have lost even the capacity for shame.

  1. Just as the name “Benedict Arnold” has gone down in history to connote a “traitor”, Hillary Clinton’s name should be in every thesaurus and dictionary as a synonym and definition of “poor loser”. I’ve never seen anyone — let alone a presidential candidate and former First Lady — behave as badly as she has post-2016. Mrs. Clinton is utterly incapable of self-reflection and humility. I was embarrassed for her then and now I’m embarrassed for the country whenever she opens her mouth.

    1. @pirategirl

No doubt. Remember with clarity if one is old enough, the Clinton impeachment hearings or the Olly North; we are in unprecedented waters, and the globalist left seem to think they have the absolute immunity to lie, to cheat, to steal, to obfuscate, to mislead; it’s unreal. Truly. Likely in history.

  2. Washington DC is so corrupt that nothing is real.
There is not a shred of honesty or integrity.
Everything is theater, everything is manipulation.
Americans must understand that if any place in earth is under the dominion of Satan it’s Washington DC

    1. @Speakup

Absolutely. It is madness. Those of us still sane will absolutely have to pick up the pieces, eventually; the question is: how much damage will be done in the meantime?

    2. I get that your really really really angry. But you haven’t explained how corruption in Washington DC made your life worse?

  3. Give Hillary credit for breaking the glass ceiling that previously denied psychopaths the position of First Lady.

    1. @Old School

No doubt. and I honestly, truly believe some of these people are absolutely psychopaths or sociopaths.

  4. The modern left no longer even tries to hide its mendacity. She really does think in her hubris that we are too stupid to remember the past eight years and that her minions are responsible for all of our woes. She knows there will be no repercussions of any kind, for anyone, from the lowest foot soldier to the likes of herself. She is the one that’s sad, it is absolutely aristocracy combined with a variety of mental disorders, and we have absolutely had enough. All but the absolute thickest of us are waking up, more and more every day.

  5. Floyd is right on the money. I hope Mr. Turley sees this comment. It states exactly how many of the Republicans feels about this whole thing. I would love to see this great statement sent to the “Lincoln Project”, Bill Kristol et al. They are missing just what the public outside of their East-West Coast Bubble think.

  6. I have to say, soliciting the Vice President to break the electoral count act generally makes it impossible for you to win an election. But the Democrats seem determined to make that a wash. Shredding the rule of law with a Mueller special council that had no basis for being. Calling for impeachment before inauguration day and eventually doing it over a phone call. Bragg getting cheered on by the Democrats for a baseless case. The Democrats have made Trump’s conduct a wash.

I have a choice between one side that doesn’t respect the rule of law vs. the other side that doesn’t respect the rule of law.

    1. Except Pence wasn’t “solicited” to break ECA – he was asked to USE it.

      Got any more false premises?

      1. Ha! Well as you amply demonstrate by your post, I have to choose between two groups of people who don’t respect the law.

        1. Ha! indeed. As you amply demonstrate in your empty response, you have no understanding of ECA.

          1. The Vice President was asked to unilaterally count non-state-certified votes. Everybody knows that. Mike Pence has already said that while confirming it would be breaking the law. He can’t do that. Nobody other than Eastman thinks he can do that and Eastman doesn’t think he can or he’s delusional. So I’m not going to join you in fantasy land over the matter.

            1. Incorrect.

The Vice President was asked to CONSIDER competing slates of electors (perfectly legal, by the way), and when discrepancies and objections were considered, VP would send disputed electors back to the states where they originated.

This was in fact an option according to the Congressional Research Service (p. 11)

              https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/RL/RL32717/12

In 2022, Congress amended ECA TO PREVENT THIS VERY SCENARIO FROM OCCURRING.

If Pence couldn’t do this, why did Congress explicitly prevent it?

Pence was incorrect in his evaluation of his options, and was given bad legal and constitutional advice (by Mark Short, et al.).

It is you who are delusional, and dangerously ignorant.

                  1. Well, I was edging towards Trump. But, given your remarks, maybe I’ll vote for Biden now.

                    1. Since nothing has been done about the obvious fraud in 2020 I don’t think it really matters who anyone votes for in 2024–the Deep State will decide who wins

                    2. Great strategy – vote for implosion.

                      You shouldn’t be voting.

            2. SteveJ – where in the constitution is there anything about state certification ?

The constitutional responsibility for the conduct of Federal elections rests with the State legislatures.
Not the Secretaries of State, not the executive.

More than a century ago the Federal COURTS determined that one of the legitimate ways to challenge an allegedly fraudulent election was to provide an alternate slate of electors, leaving congress free to chose.

This was a huge hail mary on Trump’s part – but it was still constitutional.

This is the final check on the integrity of our elections.
Or do you think it is OK to win an election by fraud ?

You are free to beleive the 2020 election was not won by Fraud – just as others are free to beleive it was.

As should be self evident – candidates, parties, even those in government often do immoral, unethical, and illegal things to gain and hold power or to punish those who oppose them.

Are we to assume that we can trust the outcome of an election because the very people who have the greatest interest in the results tell us what the results were ?

Are we to beleive that the courts which have proven so corrupt and biased in som many other things since 2020 (and before) were magically pure and devoid of the corruption and bias that has permeated them since ?

My point is that we have a whole series of checks and balances – that is supposed to include things like in person voting, voter id, strict rules for chain of custody, poll and counting observers, the courts, and ultimately congress itself as checks on the integrity of elections.

We have so many checks BECAUSE the stakes are so high and because elections are run by the same people who benefit from the outcome of the elections.

Perfection is not acheivable. But congress is the last hope for a remedy for election fraud before a fradulently elected person can become president.

              1. Article II section I: Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct.

    2. Steve. There is no “wash” here. This is not “tit for tat”.

You can like or dislike Trump’s conduct. It was not a crime.

Was concocting the Steele Dossier a Crime ? No just a dirty trick – and one far dirtier that trying to coverup analleged one night stand with a porn star.

But Shilling the Steele HOAX to the FBI was a crime. Reporting others to law enforcement for crimes YOU made up is more than just a dirty trick.

I have not found a politician that I would call moral and ethical.
But those on the left take the cake. The limit to the misconduct they will engage is what they can get away with and increasingly they can get away with anything.

We have recently learned that the infamous classified docs case was staged – that many of the docs in the photo were not classified and that they may not have been from Mar-A-Lago.

That may seem like a small thing – but this was deliberate – it is not something you can do accidentally, and it was done by those in our government – or law enforcement our prosecutors.

How are any of us safe from our government if those enforcing the law will try to frame us ?

Republicans have spent the past two years trying to prove the Biden’s are corrupt. I believe they have done so successfully.
You are free to differ. What they have NOT done, is tried to make a case to the public using doctored evidence.
Absolutely they are engaged in political theater – but the posterboard sized blowups of Biden Checks are of the real checks – not fakes made to deceive the public.

      1. The alternate electors scheme isn’t simply a dirty trick. That brings in 18 U.S.C. § 371 – Conspiracy to commit offense or to defraud United States, among other things. Non-state certified electoral certificates were sent to an official congressional proceeding to count the electoral vote. That brings in the Electoral Count Act. In addition, solicitation of fraud is a crime regardless of whether the person you solicit goes on to commit it.

Even if above were legal, legal vs. illegal isn’t the only variable by which one might base their vote. If someone walks by a child drowning in the middle of the lake and does nothing, he has committed no crime. There are very good reasons why this is the case. By contrast, if you jaywalk, you’ve done something illegal. But if those two people were running for public office, and I knew about both incidents, guess who I would tend to vote for.

Now don’t hit me with false equivalency. I making a point using two extreme examples. I’m not comparing the Democrats abuse of our judicial system to jay-walking.

The proper counting of the electoral vote at the joint session of Congress, and the solicitation of Trump to interfere with it, is something I’m going to take into account for both legal and non-legal reasons.

        1. Incidentally, you also have 18 U.S.C. § 494 – with regard to public records. In this case non-state certified electoral certificates being sent to federal institutions, in this case the National Archives and Congress.

          1. Sorry, forgot to put my name on the top one. Too easy to forget at pegged as anonymous.

    3. This case is a business fraud case. One count is for election interference. There are 33 other counts that are about falsifying business records. The prosecution could rest its case today and Trump would be found guilty for those.

      1. The jury does have to find him guilty of both you know. They can’t just find him guilty of business fraud — although I remain unclear as to who got defrauded. Falsification of business records isn’t a crime by itself. You have to defraud somebody by doing it.

        1. Try an experiment. Change a business expense you claimed from, say $10 to $10,000. If/when the IRS catches up with you, tell them, falsification of business records isn’t a crime by itself.

          1. But you’ve stated clearly someone got defrauded. Are you claiming the correct taxes didn’t get paid here? I haven’t seen the evidence for that. And I can’t believe the previous D.A., who passed on this, would have done so if there was.

In any case beware. If you attach a statute in order to extend the statute of limitations for another statute, the jury must find you guilty of both. So best of luck with the election interference.

            1. You haven’t seen the evidence because you failed to read the indictment.

              1. I saw the tax issue in the indictment. But there weren’t any details. I’m certainly open to evidence that Trump cheated on his taxes.

          2. You do realize the correct amount of money is stated on these receipts. They’re claiming it’s “mislabeled.” Should have been categorized differently. But then again, who got defrauded?

            1. Hush money payments were purposefully — not accidentally — recorded as legal expenses. During the first 15 months of Alvin Bragg’s tenure as Manhattan District Attorney, his team filed 166 felony counts for falsifying business records against 34 individuals or companies. I get it, you’re a Trumpster. Anything Trump says or does, to you, is legal and anything brought against him is unethical and a witch hunt. But go ahead, say your moronic question again, “what was the crime?”

              1. No just asking you where you found Trump cheated on his taxes. I’d be delighted to see it.

                1. I haven’t checked but I do know he stated, for tax purposes, that Mar a Lago was valued at $18 million. Then in his fraud case lied about where that figure came from and said the authorities ascribed that figure. No, they didn’t. Trump said it was worth $18 million in order to stiff the county. I know the Palm Beach County assessors indicated they might circle back and ask for taxes on $2.5 billion, now that he has publicly claimed it’s worth that much. Instead of a legal case, just send him the bill.

                  1. The $18 million was the value assigned by the county assessor, you clown

                    1. They are apartment dwellers, never owning property therefore they do not understand.

      2. “One count is for election interference.”

        Really?

Where in the indictment is that count named?

When during the trial has that count been adjudicated?

Is that federal or state election interference? Either choice blows up the prosecution’s case.

  7. Professor Turley has thrown some warmed-over Hillary meat to a pack of vicious dogs. See them snarl and spit.

    1. @Anonymi

No, she did. He just pointed it out. She is reprehensible all on her own, and so is her ‘party’.

    2. Trumpsters are nothing more than whiners and complainers. What aspect of their personal lives did Hilary harm? Nah, they just want to be angry about something. The last thing anyone for Trump wants to do is get up off their ass and create something of value. Too hard. Easier to blame Mexicans and China.

      1. How about her direct interference with the ability of the man they elected President to do his job? How about the $40M of taxpayer money she was directly responsible for to investigate a sitting President on a total fabricated fraud?

  8. “In the same election, it was Hillary Clinton’s campaign that lied about funding the Steele dossier and then hiding the funding as a legal expense through then Clinton General Counsel Marc Elias.”

Elias is a prolific money launderer. A Trump prosecutor must pursue Elias.

  9. “I gave up shame years ago…” in other words Mrs. Clinton, believes whatever she says is above any criticism. How sad. Not willing to be corrected is a life lesson that we should learn when we are young. Mrs. Clinton seems surprised that after her years of scolding us “Deplorables” we still want to vote for Mr. Trump in November 2024. I wish that she would realize that she is not perfect and does not hold all of the answers.

    1. Absolutely hilarious. You denigrate one selfish blowhard liar in order to support an even bigger selfish blowhard liar. This why “Trumptard” is so apt and should not be seen as an attack. It’s just true.

  10. “In a recent interview, Hillary Clinton heralded the prosecution of former president Donald Trump in Manhattan as “election interference” by keeping “relevant information” from voters before an election. For those of us who criticized Clinton for the funding of the infamous Steele dossier, it was a perfectly otherworldly moment.”

I find Hillary to be the locus of evil in the modern world!!!

No, I don’t but you can see it from where’s she’s standing – er – slithering.

    1. @mespo

I do, too, right there wit the likes of Soros, Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff, etc. I do not throw the word ‘evil’ around lightly, but it fits with these degenerates.

  11. No, this piece does not go far enough. It was the entire leadership of the Democrat Party that lost allsense of shame. J H Kunstler, a former liberal Democrat, said it very well this morning:

“The Clintons had literally bought the Democratic Party apparatus under the DNC, using the money they grifted into the Clinton foundation from such operations as the Uranium One deal, the Skolkovo war-tech transfer deal, and the Haiti earthquake relief effort. They were sure that ownership of the DNC guaranteed the election for Hillary. It did guarantee that she would overcome Bernie Sanders’ primary election victories and the delegates that came with them, even after Julian Assange’s Wikileaks release informed the world just how the Clintons bought and paid for the DNC and the whole Philadelphia convention. Call this the birth of the “misinformation” cult, in which everything true was converted into a “big lie.”

The problem was, Hillary lost that election. What a surprise! Buying the convention was not enough, it turned out. Those “deplorables” did the unthinkable: cast enough of their stinky votes in just the right rust belt precincts to elect the Golden Golem of Greatness, who was as surprised as anybody, and really unprepared to cobble together an actual governing administration — in the process of which, Donald J. Trump was completely buffaloed by the outgoing Obama gang. They plotted by the lights of the White House Christmas tree to go after the interloper with all they had, starting with the surgical removal of a most dangerous appointee, National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, who knew all the secrets. . . and from there onto four years of Russia, Russia, Russia. . . .

It’s hardly a mystery anymore how “Joe Biden” got elected. It’s perfectly obvious despite the “big lie” narrative that the 2020 election was stoked with a veritable orgy of ballot fraud and direct election interference by agency rogues, especially the ones leaning hard on Facebook, Twitter, and Google to manipulate what the public actually saw. Don’t believe your lying eyes they told the nation. What is a mystery is why they chose “Joe Biden” to front for the cabal around Barack Obama actually running the show. Never before in US history was there a president who left such a slime trail of bribery and corruption. Just as they had spent all their energy the previous four years in undermining Mr. Trump, they had to spend the next four years propping up and defending “Joe Biden,” and then desperately trying to save their own asses from a Trump return. Meanwhile, they set out on their mission to wreck the country sufficient to clear the way for establishing a transhuman public-private utopia of crypto-Marxian “equity” (theft of property).

The battery of Trump trials and lawsuits meant to put him totally out of business are now all simultaneously collapsing. Special Counsel Jack Smith is left doing Chinese fire drills around his office Keurig coffee machine. When the prank-fest in Judge Juan Merchan’s courtroom concludes, whether the jury sees the show for the farce that it is, or not, the Golden Golem of Greatness will be at large again among the voters. If he is clever enough to pick a capable veep that represents something like “assassination insurance” — say, Vivek, Tulsi Gabbard, or JD Vance — then the Obama cabal and the blob that has been protecting it will be swept out of power and into a dragnet of a kind of law actually associated with the word justice.”

    1. It’s all coming unglued, it will be interesting to watch how many of these treasonous rats try to flee as Trump is elected. The Dems still think this is about Trump, I say it is about the last vestige of hope from the sons and daughters of America to save her.

      1. Traveler said: “it will be interesting to watch how many of these treasonous rats try to flee as Trump is elected”

Unfortuately I think they stick around to do whatever they can to undermine his ability to repair what they have broken, and to generally sabotage his administration, even if that destroys what is left of this country Iwhich they have already amply demonstrated that they don’t give a flying fvck about)

      2. Having moved to Europe many years ago, it’s amusing to see Trump supporters talk about “saving America.” Americans are such idiots, they are completely blind to the fact that American wealth is solely based on its utter domination of globalization, which Trump wants to dismantle. Say goodbye to your economy.

        1. It’s also amusing to see how Americans moving to Europe are so stolidly ignorant to realize that highly-industrialized and advanced America no longer has the profit margin available, as when it was still a young, developing, capitalistic endeavor. The domination of globalization (and maximum profiteering) is clearly in the hands of developing nations like China, Iran. Idiot.

          1. China”s ports run 24/7/365 just to feed their population. They’re incapable of self sufficiency. Iran, really?

You’re going to call me names, like I said, enjoy and thanks for leaving.

        2. It’s not Americas wealth that is dependent upon global markets, it’s the globalist cabal’s wealth that is dependent upon the global market. Funny you should have concern living in Mullah liberal Europe, enjoy!

  12. Keep feeding Trump cult rage Turley, After all, a paycheck depends on it.

    1. You Fish Wings are really fishy if you think Turley is a man of rage. He speaks with calm and knowledge and if you can take the time, check his facts. They are more worthwhile than you ‘paycheck’ comment. Don’t you realize that the Clinton’s — especially Hillary — has done everything for money?! Look at the wealth accumulated by Hillary/Bill and Obama and then question real intent (note I excluded Carter). Do you also really think anyone of us could have gotten away with the fraud that Hillary has done on this nation — smashed computer, the Russian disinformation, etc. Then go back further to the early years of the Clinton rise — and follow those paychecks.

      1. Turley uses the rage to the MAGA world by deflecting, distracting ANYTHING negative about Trump. His playbook for years now has to go to the { H } card, Hillary or Hunter when he wants to deflect distract and to feed the base what they want to read or see. As for the Clintons, do they have as many indictments, guilty pleas, and convictions as the Dear Leader?

        1. Fishstick, you have it all wrong, again.
The good professor is not deflecting or distracting ANYTHING negative about Trump.
He is merely pointing out all the corruption of his own party, the Democrat party. He is pointing out how they have become the party of anti-free speech. He is pointing out how they have become the party of anti-Constitution. He is pointing out how they have become the party of anti-women’s rights. He is pointing out how they have become the party of child mutilation. He is pointing out how they have become the party of pro-pornography in elementary school libraries. He is pointing out how they have become the party of chaos and anarchy by supporting the 2020 summer riots and domestic terror groups like antifa. He is pointing out how they have become the party of lawfare just to “Get Trump!”
He is a classic liberal Democrat. And by all appearances he is disgusted with his own party. He is not alone. Other classic liberal Democrats like Bill Maher, Elon Musk, James Carville and even my own sister think the extreme leftists have highjacked their party. As Bill Maher and James Carville noted, you extreme leftists Democrats are stupid.

    2. Fishstick, no one is in a rage except you and you leftists Democrats. All your attempts at lawfare are failing. All your narratives are failing. And it shows. Just look at all your and your leftists friends comments. All ignoring the facts the good professor points out and everyone knows. And your assertion the good professor needs a paycheck. He is an esteemed law professor. He is sought after for his columns for various newsoutlets to include The Hill and USA Today. He has appeared before Congress multiple times. And he is about to publish his book. As accomplished as he is, he probably retire tomorrow, but enjoys his work too much.
And we are great full for it.

  13. HRC the original Obama birther, hand in hand with Philip Berg. Biggest fraud ever perpetrated against America, their words.

  14. A better analogy is that in 1992 Hillary ran the operation to silence and defame the many women Bill Clinton had sexually abused during his years in Arkansas politics.

  15. “We came, we saw, he was tried” followed by a twisted chuckle.

  16. Ex Dem said: “the very best outcome for mankind was her loss in the 2016 election.”

You may be correct. OTOH, I think that her agenda would have been essentially the same as Obama’s, but she would have lacked the misplaced sympathy that Obama was afforded by virtue of his skin color, and imo would have been much less facile about putting a bland or benign face on policies deliberately designed to disenfranchise individual citizens. That could *possibly* have triggered a political revolt against the corporatitst collectivism being forced down out throats 1 or 2 Presidential terms sooner, with all of the benefit that an extra 4 – 8 years of resistance might afford. I think that we would at least have had a clearer look at the despicable nature of the beast sooner. Clinton constantly spews lies, but, probably because she cannot imagine that anyone would question the truth of what she utters, merely because SHE uttered it, the guile she attempts doesn’t appear to be very effective on anyone who isn’t already brainwashed. Maybe the best thing that could happen before this November, if Biden physically completely craps out, would be for her to claw her way to the Democratic nomination. That might be a referendum that would provide a big setback to the deep state.
