How Democrats Make Republicans: RFK Should Be A Wake Up Call for the Party

YouTube

Below is my column in the New York Post on the withdrawal of Robert Kennedy, Jr. from the presidential race and his endorsement of former President Donald Trump. Kennedy’s speech resonated with many long-time Democrats who have found themselves estranged from the party. While Kennedy remains an independent, it is a cautionary tale that is being missed in the “joy” theme of the Democratic National Convention. The fact is that new Republicans are often not the product of ideology and association but anxiety and exclusion. Democrats make Republicans.

Here is the column:

The withdrawal of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from the presidential race and his endorsement of former President Donald Trump was yet another extraordinary moment in an election that has been anything but predictable.

Only a year ago, it would have been unthinkable that a sitting president would be effectively forced off a ticket and replaced by a candidate who did not secure a single vote for president.

Now, the nephew of John F. Kennedy and son of the Robert F. Kennedy has not just withdrawn from the Democratic Party but endorsed the Republican nominee.

Amidst all of the claimed “joy” of the Democratic National Convention, there is a sobering reality that is being ignored by the ecstatic press and pundits: this is how Democrats make Republicans.

There is an old expression that “a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged.”

Irving Kristol explained the neoconservative movement was built by Democrats “mugged by reality.”

Kennedy has not become a Republican but rather joined the roughly half of Americans now identifying as independents. While this country is solidly under the hold of a duopoly of power in the two main parties, only 25% of the country identify as Democrats, and 25% as Republicans.

Kennedy’s departure from the Democrats has been mocked in the press. However, when he spoke on his withdrawal, many of us who have been lifetime members of the party identified with his remarks.

I come from a politically active liberal Democratic family in Chicago. I spent much of my life working for liberals since I first came to Washington as a Democratic House page in the 1970s. I did stints on the Hill or on campaigns with Democrats ranging from Rep. Sid Yates (Ill.) to Sen. William Proxmire (Wis.) to Mo Udall (Arz.). I even worked on the campaign and ran for delegate for RFK Jr.’s uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy.

Then the party changed. Where once they defended free speech, Democrats have rallied behind censorship and blacklisting of those with opposing views. They have sought to block dozens of Republicans from ballots, including former President Trump. To make matters worse, they have done so in the supposed name of democracy.

Those actions were raised by Kennedy in his powerful and poignant withdrawal speech. He detailed how the Democratic party moved to stop him from running against President Biden in the primary, including efforts to block him from ballots. It was an ironic moment. After harassing candidates like RFK and Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips, the Democratic leadership then simply installed their choice at the convention in an unprecedented bait-and-switch.

There could have been a substantive primary that exposed the diminished mental state of Biden and allowed for a democratic choice on the best nominee. Instead, the Democrats prevented such choices from being made and selected a leader with all of the transparency and deliberation of a party Congress in China.

Kennedy said that the Democratic Party has virtually shoved him and other voters into the arms of Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Kennedy observed that “I began this journey as a Democrat, the party of my father, my uncle, the party which I pledged my own allegiance to long before I was old enough to vote.”

He said that his party was the one that championed free speech, government transparency, and opposed unjust wars. “True to its name, it was the party of democracy.”

He said that the party has turned its back on all of the values that once defined it. For former Democrats like Kennedy, running on “joy” is no substitute for these profound changes in the party.

Indeed, the DNC bordered on the creepy as speaker after speaker sold the idea that, if voters could just swallow the Harris candidacy, they would immediately experience joy like some political prozac commercial.

It is not clear whether the red pill/blue pill pitch will be enough, or whether Kennedy’s endorsement will turn the critical votes in swing states.

However, the DNC showed how Democrats make Republicans. The unrelenting identity politics and claims of defending democracy (while opposing democratic choice) only reaffirmed for many that there is no longer a big tent in the party of Roosevelt and Kennedy.

There is a serious question whether John F. Kennedy would recognize or support the current Democratic Party. It now rejects many of his core, mainstream values.

His nephew highlighted the irony of how the party not only worked to block the ability of opponents to challenge President Biden but worked to “conceal the cognitive decline of the sitting president.”

Even the Washington Post recently admitted that “the 81-year-old had shown signs of slipping for a long time, but his inner circle worked to conceal his decline.”

However, the Post failed to note that Vice President Kamala Harris was part of that inner circle. Indeed, she has been touting her close work with Biden in her campaign.

There is little recognition that, if true, it means that Harris, the White House, and leading Democrats lied to the public about Biden’s mental decline for their own political interests.

For Kennedy, it was all too much “and, most sadly … in the name of saving Democracy, the Democratic Party set itself to dismantling it, lacking confidence in its candidate, that its candidate could win in a fair election at the voting booth.”

There is little “joy” in that.

  1. Putting aside the democrat parties’ ascribed lawfare, the most resent activities and outcomes are in my estimation Bizarre in that a Political Party of America would nominate a candidate that caused the tumultuous and riotous outcomes we are living through. You can ask any question of their nominees about governance and you’ll most likely experience dizziness or vertigo when and if they respond. The nominees’ platform is boldly stating in a belief of Socialist values contrary to America’s of a Republic Democracy. Though, what concerns me most is citizens who cannot foresee the negatives of a socialism, or whatever ISM you may choose. The left is full of dreamers and conceited who have abandoned any true sense of what our founding documents mean, instead they make-up new meaning to fit their desires.

The left reminds me of a Scare-Crow full of noting but straw and dressed in illustrious fool’s Gold ware. Be very warily of those wishing to give un-givable gifts.

KAMALA’S DECISION-MAKING AND CV GET WEIRDER, WILLY 60, KAMALA 29

WILLY CELEBRATES 50TH WITH WIFE AND CHILDREN HE HADN’T LIVED WITH FOR 25 YEARS

    AFTER TEN-YEAR KAMALA AFFAIR

“A 1984 profile published in the New York Times described Brown as an “escort for attractive women” and “good friend of his former wife,” from whom it says he “separated amicably” two years earlier.

“I don’t know whether the marriage failed and the relationship survived or vice versa, but something very valuable lasted,” Brown wrote in his own 2008 autobiography, explaining that he and his wife had celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2007, although they hadn’t lived together in 25 years.

“Although Blanche and I led very different lives, there was never a breakup,” he wrote. “The two of us kept the family circle going. We’ve always been in each other’s lives. We’re friends.”

“Indeed, as we said, Brown had developed a reputation for dating around and, in 2001, he welcomed a fourth child, a daughter, with his then-girlfriend Carolyn Carpeneti.

“Harris and Brown reportedly ended their relationship by the end of 1995 or the beginning of 1996. But it has come up repeatedly since Harris first sought public office as San Francisco district attorney, which she won in 2003. During that campaign, Harris was trying to distance herself from Brown, telling SF Weekly, “His career is over; I will be alive and kicking for the next 40 years. I do not owe him a thing.” She called him an “albatross hanging around my neck.”

    1. So, you’re trying to slut-shame Kamala Harris? WHAT ABOUT TRUMP? Did Kamala ever sexually assault someone, defame them, and lose a court case, twice? Did she force herself on a porn actor or consort with a nude model, pay them off and then lie about the payments by falsifying business records to hide the truth so as to win an election? These matters were PROVEN in a court of law against Trump. Did she brag about grabbing men by their junk and getting away with it because she’s “famous”? How many crimes has Kamala been convicted of? How many criminal charges is she facing? Did she lie to her supporters and send them to storm the state capitol to stay in power after losing an election?–Oh, wait–she didn’t lose an election and then lie about it. Did she steal classified documents? Sorry, pal, Trump’s just too dirty. There’s no comparison.

      1. “So, you’re trying to slut-shame Kamala Harris? WHAT ABOUT TRUMP?”

Democrats put sex on the table, why should it be off limits for Kamala who has never ‘earned’ her positions thru merit? Everyone knows Kamala rose thru the political ranks *only* because of 1)Who she had sex with, 2)Willingly Playing the Corruption Game, and 3) DEI.

Why should it be off limits that her husband’s first marriage ended because he was banging the nanny, got her pregnant and fired from her school job?

As for “ethics” and “corruption”….Why should it be off limits that Kamala’s brother-in-law, Tony West, headed up the DOJ Civil Division and facilitated massively corrupt settlements?

        https://nypost.com/2024/08/23/opinion/kamalas-brother-in-law-fleeced-taxpayers-for-billions-to-give-to-left-wing-groups-and-lawyers/

        1. You ask: why should Doug Emhoff’s alleged extramarital conduct be off-limits? First of all, where’s the proof? Secondly, who cares? Emhoff is not running for president, and you don’t know anything about his first marriage or issues he and his wife were having. It’s just like Melania’s nude and lesbian-erotic modeling. You have to wonder how many kids have shown the pictures to Barron.

You disclose your MAGA discipleship when you claim that “everyone knows” anything about Kamala Harris and her relationships. YOU don’t “know” anything other than what MAGA media feeds you. And, she EARNED her way to the top–graduated law school, worked as a courtroom prosecutor, ran for and won S.F. District Attorney, ran for and won California AG. What has Trump ever earned, other than scorn? He is a trust-fund baby that squandered the over $400 million in gifts he got from his daddy, who bailed him out from one failed business after another until he got dementia and lost control over his finances. And, where the proof that Kamala’s brother in law did anything corrupt, but even if he did, what does that have to do with her? Nothing. To call her corrupt because of a brother-in-law is really stupid.

          1. I’ve come to the conclusion that Gigi could not survive or speak a paragraph without her reliance on cut-and-paste. She evidences no ability to think on her own or form her own opinions. She never confronts an argument with her own rebuttal. Instead, she pulls up an article from CNN or MSNBC, etc.

            1. “Gigi could not survive or speak a paragraph without her reliance on cut-and-paste. “

Thinking is not part of her job description.

          2. ” He is a trust-fund baby that squandered the over $400 million in gifts he got from his daddy”

That is a lie already debunked. Show the proof. You don’t have it, and neither do any of your corrupt sources. The rest you say is likewise, garbage.

      2. Also, where did Kamala mostly grow up? Where did Kamala attend middle school, high school, and early college years?

        Canada.

      3. So, you’re trying to slut-shame Kamala Harris?… Did she force herself on a porn actor or consort with a nude model

“Forced himself” on the porn actor who at various times said that nothing ever happened, or alternately said she willingly went to his apartment hoping if she could give him a good enough roll between the sheets, he might give her work on his TV show. The only one claiming Trump forced himself on her is a notable Soviet Democrat slut.

Only a real slut would attempt to shame a woman who did fashion modeling in various nudes, Gigi. And only a slut would have been defending President Daddy-Daughter Inappropriate Sex Showers, the incest driven PERVERT who banged his own daughter in the shower so often she became a sexual deviant as well as a drug addict to deal with the hell he made her life.

The same White House Pervert In Chief who also raped a young intern and made a name for himself publicly molesting other peoples’ small children in the White House.

Now tell us how the unindicted felon, The Big Guy, didn’t spend FOUR DECADES stealing classified documents before Trump ever ran for office.

These Soviet Democrat sluts… Freud said that they channel their own sins and their own guilt on to others who they despise because it makes them feel better about themselves.

Do any of that Soviet Democrat slut channeling on others, Gigi?

        1. Stormy Daniels representing Wicked Entertainment, which was a sponsor at a charity golf event, met Trump. She testified went to Donald’s bungalow because he said he would put her on “The Apprentice”, rig it so she would win, and finance a film she was intending to direct. She was not attracted to him and had no intention of having sex with him. She was stunned when he opened the door dressed like Hugh Hefner, in silk pajamas. She kept asking herself how she could have misread his intentions–something sexual assault victims often ask themselves afterwards. She also said that afterwards he called her “Honeybunch”. Dr. Mary Trump said that this little bit of information proves she’s telling the truth–“Honeybunch” is an uncommon term of endearment used by the Trumps.

There’s no evidnece that Joe Biden ever had sex with his daughter, who describes what you have morphed into repeatedly “banging” his daugter. Here’s what she said: “Ashley wrote in a 2019 entry, “Hyper-sexualized @ a young age. What is this due to? Was I molested. I think so —” She continues, “I can’t remember specifics but I do remember trauma… I remember somewhat being sexualized with [her first cousin] Caroline; I remember having with friends @ a young age; showers w/ my dad (probably not appropriate); being turned on when I wasn’t suppose [sic] to be.” Ashley Biden describes this passage as “stream of consciousness”–not a factual rendition of anything. MAGA media lies about it. Now, explain just HOW the words “I think so” and ” I can’t remember specifics” morph into multiple incidents of incestuous sexual intercourse? As to Tara Reade, she changed her story so many times that she is considered unreliable. Virtually everone else who worked with or for Biden disputes that he was ever capable of what she claims. She also left her job for medical reasons.

As to Melania, she had a chance to attend university, but chose to go to Milan for modeling. That morphed into posing for soft-core nude and lesbian erotic photos. She, with other models, attended parties where she could meet wealthy men, which is how she met Trump. She chose not to be educated, and chose to pose nude. She chose to live in a palace by the sea and a gold tower with gold toilets, married to a pathological liar and sociopath who cheates on her like a dog, who has referred to her as “a good-looking piece of ass” and does not respect her. She has to live with her choices, but there’s nothing about her that deserves anyone else’s respect. She will never be an Eleanor Roosevelt, Roselyn Carter, Laura Bush or Jackie Kennedy.

          1. and you willl never be a respected or credible commenter, as seen by the responses to your posts.

  3. I will admit that as an RFK supporter, I do find myself seriously revisiting whether or not it would be right for me to now support Trump.

I am thinking long and hard on it, something I never thought I’d do, but I am. Ultimately like Kennedy I will rely on prayer for my final decision and at this point I’m not sure what that decision will be. But this article is correct, its the democrats right now who are ultimately driving this decision I find myself now faced with, not Trump or RFK.

But RFK’s address to the nation the other night was the catalyst, but its the abysmal and tyrannical democrats in power and their supporters, driving me there.

    1. RFK Jr. is still on the ballot in all but ~10 states.
I am in a deep blue non-swing state and I intend to vote for RFK Jr. over Trump, though I support Trump 100%.
My vote for RFK will take away a vote for Kamala in my blue state.
I hope more vote this way.
Trump must win decisively in November

      1. The communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats, RINOs, AINOs) just smuggled in 17 million new illegal alien communist voters.

What, exactly, do you think you’re going to do, comrade?

        Try this:

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

        – Declaration of Independence, 1776

        1. What is the point you are trying to make?

A vote for RFK in a non-swing state TAKES AWAY from Kamala Harris and does not hurt Trump.

          1. I don’t even know who any of you are or who you’re talking to.

I see what appears to be like 3 guys all named anonymous talking to each other or to me, can’t tell which because none of them actually addressed my original comment.

I’m confused by the strategy of anonymous comment number 1 too, I mean its not a primary so not voting for Kamala is taking away a vote for Kamala regardless of who you cast the vote for besides her. Doesn’t do anything to vote for RFK in those states, only if he had been running against her on the democratic ticket in the primaries. Now just not voting for her takes away a vote from her so I am confused by that strategy myself.

Either way its more confusing trying to figure out which anonymous troll I’m talking to so I’ll stop talking now and go enjoy my Sunday.

            1. I am Anonymous 1 above. My comment did address your original comment. I suggested you go ahead and vote your conscience for RFK Jr. if you are not in a swing state.

        2. Who are you calling “Comrade” troll?

And as for the DoI quote, try speaking your mind instead of trying to pretend to be some sort of internet prophet and maybe someone will have a clue what it is you’re trying but failing to say.

      2. My vote for RFK will take away a vote for Kamala in my blue state. I hope more vote this way.

The Soviet Democrats deeply appreciate you wasting your vote on RFK – rather than being another Trump vote that they must cancel out with an Obama’s Fourth Term vote for Harris. Now they can use that as one vote against Trump instead. The Soviet Democrats desperately hope many others will use the same voting logic as you’re going to act on. When Harris wins in your state by a landslide, they don’t give a damn about your protest vote: she won, that’s what matters.

Trump must win decisively in November

If you believe that, hoping other people throughout the country also file protest votes is a crazy way to help when you want a decisive win.

The time for fighting for change in a party you’re a member of is BEFORE the candidates for the election are chosen – and AFTER the election. Not during the election campaign when the nominees for the party have been chosen.

        1. Thank you for making a persuasive argument.
          I am persuaded.
          Trump gets my vote.

          1. Your duty calls: Vote Republican up and down ballot as if the country depended on it!
Bank your vote as early as you can.
Do not wait until Election Day.
Election Day is the *last* day to vote, and the powers that be will do anything to prevent a fair election.
            Bank your vote early!

    2. I do find myself seriously revisiting whether or not it would be right for me to now support Trump.

When RFK was in the running, the reality was that after the election it will either be Trump or Obama’s Fourth Term running this country. RFK was NEVER going to be elected president. Not. Even. Close.

With RFK out of the running, the reality still is that after the election it will either be Trump or Obama’s Fourth Term running this country.

Willingness to have another four years of vicious neo-communists destroying this country as somehow or other being a better religious or moral choice than four more years of Trump is something that is completely beyond my understanding. Beyond understanding from a moral standpoint. Beyond understanding from a religious viewpoint – it isn’t Trump sending the DoJ to throw pro-life activists in prison while at the same time attempting to legalize elective birth control abortions up to the point of birth.

Trump Derangement Syndrome isn’t confined to just Soviet Democrats, soccer moms and the mainstream media. And those suffering from it rarely can point to Trump policies in office that left them with TDS – invariably it’s an emotional illness on their part.

Trump’s shoot from the lip straight through his dick and into his foot pronouncements that put asses in stadium seats while turning others off contribute to that TDS – but personal dislike isn’t an excuse for deciding it is a more moral, or more religious choice to be willing to be one more vote helping to put America under Obama’s Fourth Term.

You don’t have to like Trump to vote for him – just as you didn’t have to hate Obama, Clinton, Biden, or Harris to vote against them.

      1. Yea well the one thing you said that was right was that its beyond your understanding.

Your simple minded talking point insult, trying to paint my mores’, values and conscience as well as my responsibility to God to honor that conscience don’t even approach the borders of reality.

My issues with Trump have zero to do with my liking him. I’ve met the man, photographed him up close even.
I don’t necessarily dislike the man or like him. I see him for exactly what he is.

So don’t try your trolling nonsense on me. I answer to my conscience and my God, not to some clown on the internet hiding behind a fake handle pretending to be something we both know he’s not.

When I want your opinion, I’ll give it to you.

        1. If that were so, that you answer to your god and your conscience, you would not post to this blog that you are struggling with whether to vote Trump or RFK, “thinking hard on it” and seemingly seeking something outside yourself which suggests you are clearly not in communication with your own inner guidance that some call God’s voice. You posted your struggle here looking for what, exactly?

          1. Point being, Old Airborne offered some feedback to perhaps help you gain clarity in your decision making struggles. Why take offense?

        2. I am going to give you my opinion. It was just stated above: Vote Republican, up and down, ballot as if our country’s future, our children’s future, and our freedom depends upon it! Vote Republican! Vote early! Do not wait until election day!

        3. “Definitely the calm before the storm. You can feel it. They are going to do some thing really big and f*cked up.” @cernovich

          8/25/24

  4. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said he was told by a whistleblower that Secret Service headquarters told agents working at the rally where former President Donald Trump was almost assassinated, not to request extra manpower for help with the event.

“Whistleblower says Secret Service HQ told agents working the Butler PA event NOT to request additional manpower resources for the rally & warned any such requests would be denied,” Hawley wrote on the social media platform, X on Friday.

    1. Trump wasn’t “almost assassinated”. He received a less-than-one-inch scratch on his ear–the dimension was 2 cm. in length 2.54 cm. equals one inch–so why did Trump need to lean on 2 Secret Service agents? Josh Hawley is a whining little weenie.

      1. “Trump wasn’t “almost assassinated””

You are more ignorant than we imagined. If a person is almost assassinated, the killer missed and they lived.

  5. Indeed. My students and colleagues considered me a leftist when I was teaching, a fairly accurate description. That changed with Obama, who is neither left-wing nor communist, and who was nominated by the Democratic National Committee by giving him a share of the primary vote in Florida that he had not received. The party itself changed for the first time with the Clinton faction, who created a top-down party after Mondale’s defeat, then again with Obama, who brought Chicago politics to DC. Now, the party that had been anti-racist is racist; the party that had been in favor of workers and the poor now disdains them as ‘deplorables’; the party that had been anti-war is in favor of forever wars and genocide; the party that had embraced democracy as its guiding light now favors elite control; the party that revered integrity now practices mendacity; the party that had been responsive to its constituents now manipulates them to assure the re-election of professional politicians; the party that had sought to protect jobs in the US now ships them abroad and throws open the borders . . . . it’s really depressing.
Happily, most of my immediate family has abandoned the Democrats, and more than a few of my extended family. Those who have not tend to be the ones who are not paying attention or simply do not care about politics.
Like Andrew Sullivan and others, we are not the ones who have changed and abandoned the party; it is the party that has changed and forced us out, much as they have RFK, Jr.

    1. I think Andrew Sullivan is a Never Trumper who is voting for Kamala over Trump, no?

    2. Worth repeating, especially for Dennis McIntired to read —>

“…with Obama, who brought Chicago politics to DC.”

[Obama swung the party from Liberal to Progressive. He is a duplicitous fraud]

“Now, the party that had been anti-racist is racist; [thanks Obama]

the party that had been in favor of workers and the poor now disdains them as ‘deplorables’; [thanks Hillary]

the party that had been anti-war is in favor of forever wars and genocide; [thanks Joe]

the party that had embraced democracy as its guiding light now favors elite control; [thanks Bernie for taking the payoff and becoming one of them]

the party that revered integrity now practices mendacity; [thanks Obama, Hillary, Joe, Nancy & Chuck]

the party that had been responsive to its constituents now manipulates them to assure the re-election of professional politicians; [thanks DNC]

the party that had sought to protect jobs in the US now ships them abroad and throws open the borders . . . .

it’s really depressing.” [Yes it is, but there is *hope rising* within the newly formed Unity Party]

Democrats have held power for 12 of the last 16 years. It’s time for a change.

RFK Jr. is courageously leading the way, joining forces with Trump, moving us towards Unity, for the good of the country.

  6. Dear Prof Turley,

Joy, and hope, is a many splendored thing. The Obamas wrapped up the DNC on a hopeful note, and Kamala Harris has joyfully accepted the nomination of Sen. Pelosi for the next President of the United States.

If 50% of the population identifies as ‘independent’ now, one would think they would win more elections.. . in addition to a few lost Bernie bros?

There’s always been something inherently offensive and undemocratic about the [media] myth that *only* Democrats and/or Republicans can win elections. There’s nothing in the constitution about proprietary political organizations. .. and RFK Jr. spent some time explaining why he does not want to be a ‘spoiler’, like Nader in 00′, in such a contest. (note. Jr. is only ‘suspending’ his campaign – in an electoral tie there’s still a chance he could win a ‘contingent’ election LoL!)

I preferred Nader.. . and still do. (special note. Nader may be older than Biden, but he’s always had a lot more good sense and intellectual backbone.)

The tragic irony for too many Democrats is all the things they think Trump will do – censor/ban speech, rig elections, official corruption, funding/arming the most ruthless fascists on the planet – the Biden/Harris administration is doing.

*there is no joy in mudville .. .

    “The sneer is gone from Casey’s lip, his teeth are clinched in hate;
He pounds with cruel violence his bat upon the plate.
And now the pitcher holds the ball, and now he lets it go,
And now the air is shattered by the force of Casey’s blow.

    Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
    And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Mudville—mighty Casey has struck out.”

  7. It would have been nice if RFK Jr had delayed his suspension and endorsement until after the first debate in September. I wish he had enough votes to be on stage for that. Whatever Trump left out, RFK could have added, to corner Harris and her nothing-policies. Then, after the debate, RFK could have suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump.

That imagined scene would have been more like what we see every Sunday morning on political shows (MTP and whatever ABC’s is called), where the “panel” on each show is 4-1, with a token Republican, usually a loser to Trump like Chris Christie or John Kasich.

    BTW,
“Brent Baker, the vice president of research and publications for the Media Research Center, explains our weekly pick: ‘Welker is so sure of herself, so smugly superior that she can rattle off a list of supposed lies from Donald Trump without any self-awareness that she is passing on distortions of what Trump said while she demands Gov. Burgum criticize Trump for not being truthful. And then, when Burgum makes a perfectly reasonable observation, she corrects him with the ‘there’s not proof of that’ bromide. Pot, meet kettle.’”

    2. Lin: That piece you cite is from the Washington Examiner–MAGA media. No credibility.

      1. It’s actually the “DNC media” that has lost nearly all credibility.
(ie, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, WaPo, NYT, CBS, AP, etc.)

MAGA media tells the truth, which means DNC media loses control of their “narrative,” which is why the powers that be are trying to censor and shut down alternative media channels.

      2. I doubt that Lin or anyone else would provide an actual quote from ‘Brent Baker, the vice president of research and publications for the Media Research Center,’ no matter who had the wherewithall to publish it. Apparently no one in your sourcebook would (CNN, MSNBC, Wiki) you lose even more credibility when you strike out like a little child caught in a lie.

  8. “How Democrats Make Republicans: RFK Should Be A Wake Up Call for the Party”

    – Professor Turley
    _____________________

“How Democrats” just made 16 million* new Democrats and voters is through a fraudulent “asylum” law that allows every person outside of the U.S. to claim persecution by their government.  That, and the fact that none of them are Caucasian, is, of course, not only counterintuitive but statistically and analytically impossible.  The question, however, is not, how did the Democrats do it?  The question is, why did the judicial branch and Supreme Court allow Democrats to do it?  There cannot possibly be more than 100 or 1,000 people globally that can truly say their government is planning their demise or some other injurious assault. Legislation that denies the right and freedom of Americans to enjoy a well-defined border is not constitutional.  No open-ended “asylum” law is rational or constitutional.  How were actual Americans duped and sold out on this “fake” and pernicious law? How were actual Americans duped into acquiescing and permitting their replacement?

    * “I think the number is probably somewhere close to 16 million people by now that have gotten into this country illegally,” Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, April 10, 2024.

  9. This certainly is not my father’s (a blue-collar worker) democratic party. This is not JFK’s democratic party. In lieu of the D–it should be a P–progressive. How many Democrats would vote P? I initially registered D when I was 21. When I moved to another town, thirty-five years ago, I registered as independent. I have to say I mostly have voted on the R side of the ballot since. BTW, the antics and strangeness of RFK Jr. are mentioned. There were plenty of antics and strangeness of the older Kennedys. IMHO, if it were still my father’s and JFK’s democratic party, I don’t think it would be Harris/Walz — Trump/Vance. Media has become activists more and more over the last 35 years and our elected (on both sides) have become news channel activists vying to see who can have the most outlandish soundbite. When a person with an opposing view is invited to be interviewed by a media activist, there is no discussion–it’s talking over each other. We are lectured to by the likes of Schumer, Pelosi, Warren… And outlandish statements are made by AOC, MTG, Boebert… We are told that unemployment is good for the economy (Pelosi); when it is voted on you can read it; SJC justices are threatened by Schumer and others. We are told we have to house and supply for legal and illegal foreigners, those who were not vetted, who have come here with no support, yet we have citizens not by choice living in cars. I do not know how many countries immigrants are coming from to the USA (supposedly over 100 countries, that’s over 100 languages?) but consider the effect it has on a school system to provide language help. And now we are hearing about “missing” children lost in the system–where are they? what is happening to them–child labor, sexual abuse, have any died?

  10. Professor Turley writes, “There could have been a substantive primary that exposed the diminished mental state of Biden and allowed for a democratic choice on the best nominee. Instead, the Democrats prevented such choices from being made and selected a leader with all of the transparency and deliberation of a party Congress in China.”

As Professor Turley suggests, had the primaries not been rigged, every Democrat would have challenged Biden the minute he staggered off the first debate stage.

And yet, Alan Lichtman–master election forecaster–still maintains that the Democrats will win the Whitehouse, again. Lichtman claims that there was never a significant primary challenge, and that’s a plus for Democrats to retain the Whitehouse and that Biden dropping from the ticket changes nothing (that was after he said Biden dropping from the ticket would be a big mistake).

Does rigging primaries still count as uncontested elections, Doctor Lichtman?? (Hillary had hoped so). Is that really a plus for democracy? Nothing has been more rigged than Kamala’s failing upward. The only reason she was on the 2020 ticket was because the West Coast oligarchs demanded it in exchange for bailing out Joe’s incompetent campaign that summer.

If Lichtman proves correct anyway, I fear for democracy. The day the Lichtmans of the world can tell us what we think even before we think it is a terrible thing. Who needs elections when the Democrat Party’s lickspittles in academia can tell you the outcome well in advance? In fact, if they know all that, why should they even care what we think? We’re all reduced to NPC’s on the Deep State’s gameboard.

Vote Trump and drain the swamp while you still can.

  11. For weeks, although discouraged, I have adopted a mantra of “It’s in God’s Hands” I do believe he has thrown us a lifeline. As vocal as Kennedy was about Trump, he put aside those differences in a shocking, historical movement to get behind him for the good of this country. I am not looking in the rearview mirror about anything Kennedy has said about Trump in the past and I do not believe in all of his beliefs, but I feel very optimistic for the first time in a while. Weeks ago I said “you never know what might happen this election cycle” This proves that. I have been a registered Democrat twice in my life and you could now not get me to touch that party with a 10 foot pole.

    1. @scpatriot

I woke yo this morning feeling hopeful too. What a concept, eh? 😉 Our modern DNC isn’t shrouded in darkness, it IS the darkness that shrouds everything it touches.

  12. Trump supporters have enough brain worms and they don’t need RFK Jr supporters to add to their numbers. And the out-right gaslighting from Turley that the Democrat Party left RFK Jr when RFK Jr has left the planet is just that……..gaslighting.

    1. Bill Maher, Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, and I believe the good professor have all declared they did not leave the Democrat party, the party left them. It is quite obvious when anyone with a degree of common sense know pornography should not be allowed in elementary schools, biological men should not be allowed in women’s sports, gender affirming care is harmful to children.

      1. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, if one could talk common sense to a trump supporter, there would be no trump supporters.

        1. No one is holding their breath for a democrat to talk common sense to anyone.

          1. That’s because if a democrat knew common sense, they wouldn’t be a democrat

          2. Isn’t that the problem? You don’t want to hear about common sense. Supporting a disgraced twice impeached, dictator loving documented proven liar, and convicted felon is not common sense.

            1. Tell us about the dictatorship of Trump. Now tell us about the dictatorship of the censorial class of the left and the Fauci-fellating “i believe in science’ lemmings.

You have ZERO basis of a dictatorship from Trump and we have multiple examples of the central-authoritarian wet dream of obamma and his band of left-wing low-IQ morons. You have had another one foisted upon you and you all clap like trained seals for your hope of aborting your kids and that those with merit don’t continue to march all over you more.

            2. Fishy – You are voting for your own demise. Brainwashing works which is why they use it: to capture control of useful idiots like you. Mask up! Get boosted!

        2. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, if one could talk common sense to a trump supporter, there would be no trump supporters.

As many have said, Soviet Democrats have about as much brains and common sense as a Fish has Wings. But fish do have an anus that they can talk shyte from as though they were Soviet Democrats.

Over to you, FishAnus…. errr… FishWings.

  13. Speaking of policies, it seems republicans, at least 18, don’t want to repeal the tax credits the inflation reduction act provides for their districts. Despite no Republican voting for the regulation they sure love its benefits. Many even brag or take credit for them. Weird isn’t it? Seems they do approve of the legislation as long as it’s helping their districts and keeping their constituents happy.

    1. Gee, George, I thought the vote was 48-44, with Joe Manchin and Bernie Sanders joining Republicans. Sounds like a pretty even vote to me, n’est ce pas?

      1. Not in the house. It’s house republicans who seem to like the benefits and want to take credit for it despite not voting for it.

          1. 18 who don’t want to repeal the tax credits. Far more who take credit for the legislation. Keep up.

            1. This is where Georgie casually mischaracterized what was said and where he picked up the “18.”

“THis month, 18 House Republicans signed onto a letter asking Speaker Mike Johnson to spare the Energy Tax credits from efforts to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act, with many of them seeing the incentives as both good for the planet and extremely beneficial for local economic development.” https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/25/republican-fight-inflation-reduction-act-00176223

Oh Georgie, those terrible, terrible Republicans!

  14. The good professor neglects to mention Robert Kennedy Jr. recently called Trump “The worse president ever and barely human. He is probably a sociopath.”

Turley ponders whether JFK would support today’s Democratic Party, but JT shows little recognition of what Fox News reported on Friday: “A dozen Republican White House lawyers who served in the administrations of then-Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush are endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris in her race against GOP nominee former President Donald Trump.”

The lifelong Republicans issued the message: “We endorse Kamala Harris and support her election as President because we believe that returning former President Trump to office would threaten American democracy and undermine the rule of law in our country.”

Keep us posted about Bobby Kennedy Jr, Professor.

    1. …who served in the administrations of then-Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush…

Who used to be somebody… Now desperately hawking soiled laundry on the Globalist propaganda networks to pay for the cost of publishing their next book on how magnificent they were back in the day when they were somebody.

      1. Right-o. I just think it was consolidated frustration because Trump (a non-lawyer) kept them veddy veddy busy, whereas Obama and Biden (and now Harris) are lawyers slick enough to know how to refine their words/statements to keep themselves out of hot water. Of course, RFK Jr. is also a lawyer

  15. The Democratic Party can no longer be considered to be even remotely salvageable. It’s members and adherents have only two options: put on blinders and continue to slavishly support it no matter what evils it advocates; or reject it and find a new political path. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, and Elon Musk have chosen the only rational option. Hopefully there are many more Democrats who have not been permanently poisoned by the Kool-Aid who will follow in their footsteps.

    1. Ragnar D,
I am afraid many traditional Democrats, to include my own sister, opt to put on the blinders pretend the crazy is not their party and wait and see if they come back to normal.

  16. When the DNC faithful chant they are ‘not going back’, perhaps they are actually saying they are not going back to the Democrat party of RFK Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard.

    1. “perhaps they are actually saying they are not going back to the Democrat party…”

Unfortunately what they mean is that they are so addicted to their manifest delusions that they will never allow even a sliver of reality to intrude upon their consciousness (such as it is).

  17. Jonathan: Sorry, Jon, but the Democrats did not “make Republicans”. What caused the traditional GOP to implode was its falling for DJT’s scam–not just once but twice. After DJT lost in 2020 the GOP should have found another candidate–one who did not try to violently try to overturn an election to stay in power. Now what’s left of the GOP has morphed into the MAGA party that pledges allegiance to a “convicted felon”. No one held a gun to the heads to the GOP. They willingly joined forces and got “mugged” by DJT. Can’t put that on the Dems.

RFK Jr.’s failed campaign was due to his own making. Most so-called “independents” were not attracted to a bizarre candidate who has been accused of assaulting a former babysitter, believes his brain has been eaten by a worm, admitted to having staged a bicycle hit-and-run accident by a dead bear–and clings to debunked theories about Covid-19. RFK, Jr. sunk his own ship.

In a desperation move RFK, Jr. reached out to Kamala Harris–think he could get a plum job in her administration if he offered his support. Didn’t work. Harris refused his phone call because his values do not reflect those of most Democrats. So what does he do? RFK Jr. joins the DJT campaign. Kind of pathetic for the son of Robert Kennedy. The Kennedy clan has denounced one of their own. Max Kennedy, RFK Jr’s brother, has an opinion piece in the LA times today. In it he says: “Yet my brother now endorses Trump. To pledge allegiance to Trump, a man who demonstrates no adherence to out family values, is inconceivable to me…My father believed in Democracy. Donald Trump does not. My father believed in truth. Donald Trump does not”.

Does anyone really think RFK Jr’s switch to DJT will have any affect in the outcome of the election? I don’t. But you bizarrely say “[t]here is a serious question whether John F. Kennedy would recognize or support the current Democratic Party”. If they could come back from their graves– John, Robert and Ted would be campaigning for Harris/Walz up and down the country!

    1. it appears the above troll, like his other persona “George”, has acquired new sockpuppets on Gravatar so that he can “like” his own comment more than once. How does one spell the word “pathetic”? P-A-I-D 🤡 T-R-O-L-L

      1. That wasn’t me. It’s still hilarious how so many can’t make the distinction. No wonder Trump loves people like you.

    2. You have been gaslighted to the extent that your brain has been cleansed of its ability to reason. I have no desire for a response from you.

    3. Dear “Dennis McIntyre”, While there are ample Trump zealots who seemingly believe that he is something akin to the second coming of Elijah, there are lots of us who haven’t “fallen” for anything. We recognize that Mr. Trump is a flawed human being with an oversized ego and an “unpresidential” demeanor, among other shortcomings, and we might vote for someone else, if any viable alternatives existed. The thing is, despite Trump’s flaws, he obviously cares about our nation, and does not want to see it continue its decline into a dystopian nightmare being promulgated by today’s democrat party. Additionally, we recognize that viable alternatives do not exist, because we haven’t fallen under the delusion that you and others have.
If you are a paid troll as reader “BK” suggests, you’re simply a prostitute, but If you actually believe the tripe you wrote, you’ve obviously watched far too much MSNBC and CNN, and are as demented as Joe Biden.
      – John D. Underwood
      Tyler, TX

      1. “We recognize that Mr. Trump is a flawed human being with an oversized ego and an “unpresidential” demeanor, among other shortcomings, and we might vote for someone else, if any viable alternatives existed.”

Precisely, although the “unpresidential demeanor” part phases me little, as I think that what is generally considered to satisfy the “presidential” definition is, for the most part, merely pretentiousness.

        1. The issue is not Trump’s demeanor–but his character–or, more precisely, lack thereof. He is a sociopath–meaning that he has no conscience, no empathy. He is a malignant narcissist–the world revolves around him. Everything is transactional–he will do or say anything to get what he wants, including sending an angry mob to Congress to prevent the winner of the election from taking office after he lost. He panders to prejudices. He lies, constantly. He is a misogynist, racist and xenophobe. He stands for nothing except his ego. He is the laughingstock of the entire rest of the world–they see him for what he is–an admirer of Putin, Un, and Orbahn–murderous dictators. And now, Christian Nationalists see an opportunity to shove their agenda down the throats of the majority of Americans, using this deeply-flawed excuse for a human. He even lies about his association with Project 2025, a forward of which was written by his VP candidate and contributors to which include numerous former members of his administration.

    4. “Harris refused his phone call because his values do not reflect those of most Democrats.”

Serious question, Dennis. What ARE the values of today’s Democrat party that you support?

Because it looks like you support endless war, government censorship, primary-rigging, back-room dealing, legal warfare, DEI, vaccine ‘mandates,’ and the Climate Change scam – which is why Biden had to LIE to voters and call it their $trillion Infrastructure Bill instead of what it really was: “Globalist Green New Deal.”

The Democrats lie to their voters, defraud their voters, scam their voters, disenfranchise their voters and they LOCK UP THEIR POLITICAL OPPONENTS and DISSIDENTS.

That is what YOU are calling “democratic”?

    5. Dennis, Can you tell us how many times the Climate Change scam was mentioned during the DNC week?
Do you know why they rarely mentioned it?
Because at this point most people understand that it is an OBVIOUS scam.

Dennis, Can you guess why the Dems and their media mouthpieces no longer talk about Trump calling migrants “rapists and murderers”?

They still spout their usual litany of lies and hoaxes (fine people, injecting bleach, suckers and losers, etc) but they no longer accuse Trump of calling the illegals flooding over Biden’s open border, “rapists & murderers”……because that is actually happening to innocent citizens all over this country. The Democrats can no longer hide the FACT, the TRUTH that MIGRANT CRIME is a real problem that they intentionally caused.

And it is the number one issue of most Americans going into this election.

    6. Jonathan: Sorry, Jon, but the Democrats did not “make Republicans”.

But apparently bribery and similar crimes make for very rich Democrat politicians i.e. Biden, Pelosi, et al….

Sorry indeed Dennis: your dear close friend Jonathan wanted you to explain why your other dear close friend Bribery Biden SHOULDN’T be impeached. And criminally prosecuted once out of office.

Impeached after a criminal investigation including an audit of his financial dealings found forensic evidence he was collecting bribes and was The Big Guy in charge of family money laundering of money received from Chicoms and Putin for his eight years as Vice President.

Those are the findings of a bipartisan criminal investigation into the financial affairs and activities of Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., former Vice President of the USA. See Dennis! The magic words bipartisan!

Dennis: any excuse you would like to offer to oppose The Big Guy being immediately prosecuted to the full extent of the law the day after the next president is inaugurated? Alongside his brothers, wife, son, nephews and nieces who were also engaged in the Biden Family White House Crime Wave?

291 pages of fascinating evidence of why your Dear Leader is properly called ‘Bribery Biden, The Big Guy’:

      https://oversight.house.gov/report/report-of-the-impeachment-inquiry-of-joseph-r-biden-jr-president-of-the-united-states-of-america/

overwhelming evidence demonstrates that President Biden participated in a conspiracy to monetize his office of public trust to enrich his family. Among other aspects of this conspiracy, the Biden family and their business associates received tens of millions of dollars from foreign interests who gave them payments in exchange for access to and influence with President Biden. As Vice President, President Biden actively participated in this conspiracy. President Biden’s participation in this conspiracy to enrich his family constitutes impeachable conduct. By monetizing the Vice Presidency for his family’s benefit, he abused his office of public trust, placing the welfare of his family ahead of the welfare of the United States. He also put foreign interests ahead of the interests of the American people.

Any comment from your position here as the Soviet Democrats’ Official Spokesman, Dennis?

Dennis: when did Vice President Skanky Ho find out about this during the last four years of the Biden presidency trying to cover all of this up? Or did she not notice this at the same time she didn’t notice his advanced senility?

  18. The good professor has been pointing out the crazy and insanity that has taken over the Democrat party. Now, RFK puts it on full display for all to see. Good for him!

    1. Yeah, after he first tried to join the Harris campaign first. Trump was not his first choice. Something to think about.

      1. Wrong again, propagandist.
“The effort to meet [with Harris campaign] comes weeks [WEEKS] after Kennedy and former President Donald Trump met in person during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where the two discussed a possible role for Kennedy in a potential Trump administration in exchange for an endorsement.”
Trump did not immediately respond with an offer. Later, they worked out some reciprocity.
        https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/14/politics/rfk-jr-harris-administration-role/index.html

        1. So you confirmed RFK was seeking a bribe for an endorsement. Yeah, that speaks volumes about his values. Trump promised him a position in exchange for an endorsement.

He was whoring himself to whoever would offer him a position in exchange for an endorsement. Trump seems to like sellouts.

            1. when Georgie is confronted with his lies, he changes argument.

Or reverts to his other passion in life, that of acting as a Constitutional Confederate Racist and insurrectionist.

          1. BREAM: Have you all negotiated over or talked about a cabinet position, another position within a Trump government in exchange for your endorsement?
KENNEDY: No, there was — there’s no commitments but I — you know, I met with President Trump, with his family, with his closest advisors and we just made a general commitment that we were going to work together.

BREAM: Okay. So there were reports a couple weeks ago citing an official from your camp and also a Democratic official saying that there had been outreach to the Harris camp as well to possibly discuss you working within the Harris administration in exchange for an endorsement of her. Is that true? And what happened with that?
KENNEDY: It — you know, I reached out to them on the same basis that I reached out to President Trump and I — we actually talked to other presidential candidates, including Chase Oliver in the Libertarian Party about figuring out ways that we could end the polarization and the hatred and the vitriol, start talking about issues.”
