Democrats Lose Effort to Block Cornel West from Michigan Ballot

For months, we have been discussing the concerted effort of Democrats to bar challengers to President Joe Biden from primary ballots and block third-party candidates like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Cornel West from appearing on the November ballots. As both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris insisted that “Democracy is on the ballot,” their allies sought to deny the ability of voters to cast their ballots for other candidates. Now, a state judge has issued a stinging denial of the effort of Democratic officials to block West from the Michigan ballots.

Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson helped lead the effort to prevent citizens from being able to vote for West in Michigan.

Judge James Robert Redford issued the ruling days after West was kicked off the ballot due to technical issues.

West issued a statement: “Victory in Michigan! We brought thousands of voices to the table, and the court listened, rejecting the Democrats’ technical challenges. This is a win for democracy and for every person fighting for truth, justice, and love. Onward!” He is running with Black Lives Matter co-founder Melina Abdullah.

Democrats are still pushing to strip them from the ballots in other states to prevent voters from having a choice in the election.

Another such effort failed in Maine recently.

The press and pundits have been largely silent about this effort despite the glaring contradiction with the campaign rhetoric of the DNC on saving democracy from imminent destruction.

The media does not appear at all alarmed or critical of the effort to limit democratic choice. The Washington Post stated clinically “Democrats are taking third-party threats seriously this time.” Taking it seriously appears to mean using legal means to keep them from the ballots.

It is true that the main political parties have challenged qualification signatures and paperwork in the past. However, the reports indicate a systemic effort geared toward reducing the choices for voters. What is striking is that this is coming from democratic groups and the DNC, which are raising money on the “save democracy” narrative.

The contradiction is spellbinding. On the same sites promising to oppose the third party candidates, the DNC and other groups push the narrative that only the Democrats are working to protect the right to vote.

The Post reports that Democrats have studied the Hillary Clinton campaign and vowed not to allow third party candidates to drain away millions of voters as they did in 2016.

This well-funded campaign to block other candidates is continuing. It was cited by Kennedy as one of the reasons that he pulled out of the race and endorsed former president Donald Trump.

West is now a threat with independents looking for an alternative to Trump and Harris. West has long been a charismatic figure in academia. Decades ago, I was his editor on what may have been his first law review publication as a young, rising divinity professor at Princeton.

One does not have to support Trump, West, or the other third-party opponents to find this effort repulsive. While some of us have challenged that hyperbolic claim that this “may be our last election,” the one thing that may not be on the ballot is choice, if the self-appointed defenders of Democracy have anything to say about it.

  1. New story. Read all about it. Zuckerberg in writing says that the Biden Administration pressured him to censor posts on Facebook about Covid-19 and the Hunter laptop. He says that he regrets using a dozen people to screen the posts. He wishes he would have pushed back harder. Real meaning. I was scared of what the government would do if I did not comply. He related this information one and a half years after the information was subpoenaed by the House of Representatives. Kamala and Walz think that this kind of censorship is just fine if it keeps you in the dark, sprinkles you with BS and watches you grow like obedient little mushrooms.

    1. TiT,
Whoa! Hey! It thought that was nothing but some right-wing, ultra-MAGA crazy conspiracy theory? Zuckerberg says it is true and in writing? The Biden/Harris admin have been gaslighting us all this time? What else could they be gaslighting us on? Like Biden is “sharp as a tack!”?

      1. Upstate, you agree that the Biden/Harris administration has been gaslighting us all along. Please consider that it is highly likely that a Harris/Walz administration would without a doubt offer more of the same. Don’t you know that socialism and the censorship that always comes with it has always been bad in the past just because good hearted people have never been in charge? It’s a place where the naive have always been transported to the Gulags as a means of “protecting the people.”

        1. TiT,
          I was being sarcastic.
I believe Harris/Waltz admin would be even worse for America, and they would drive their leftists agenda even further down our throats. The Democrat party has become the party of fascists and must be stopped. Vote out the Democrat party.

        2. “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
          Joseph Goebels

      2. “What else could they be gaslighting us on? ”
        That J6 was an insurrection.
That the 2020 Election was free, fare and lawful.

        pretty much everything they say.

        1. John Say,
          “pretty much everything they say.”
Yep. That sums it up pretty well.

    2. Sure, and people have actual guns to their heads and their families, even Biden and Harris.

      It’s unprincipled desperation.

      Have a lovely day.

    3. Thinkitthrough, that’s old news.

Here’s what is getting left out and what SCOTUS pointed out that matters.

“ He told Jordan that in 2021, “senior officials” from the Biden administration and White House “repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire.”

      What was left out,

“ Ultimately, it was our decision whether or not to take content down, and we own our decisions, including COVID-19-related changes we made to our enforcement in the wake of this pressure,” Zuckerberg wrote.”

The problem still is the fact that it was always Facebook’s decision. Not the government. The government can pressure anyone. Police do it all the time. It’s ultimately up to you or the organization to say “no”.

      1. “The government can pressure anyone”

This spastic idiot keeps calling some turd faced hack in an FBI cubicle “the government”.

        LMAO

        1. He can be “the government”. FBI agents were often referred as G-men (government men) back in the day. You didn’t know that?

          1. No, he can’t be. Reality George.

“G-man” may also refer to members of G Division, a Dublin Metropolitan Police unit that operated in Dublin Castle before Ireland gained independence in 1922. Colonel Ned Broy used the term in his testimony to the Irish Army’s Bureau of Military History about the Easter Rising in 1916 and the Irish War of Independence from 1919–1921.

            You didn’t know that?

Ever think maybe they were called that because they worked for the government, imbecile?

            Comprehension not your strong suit.

      2. No government can not pressure anyone.

Please actually read NRA vs NYS – a 9-0 decision this term. Government may not use threats or inducements to get private parties to censor.

Yes, it was ultimately facebooks decision – but that deicsion came with consequences.
Not doing what the left wanted would result in serious harm to FB – including potentially government investigations and punative laws.

The police can put some pressure on people. They can lie to them. but they can not threaten them with violating their rights.

Please take a course or somehting in logic and critical thinking.

Your arguments are unbelievably shallow and usually rebutable in any number of ways.

        1. This is the problem when you set out to argue something you don’t even believe yourself, as Svelaz-George does. You end up saying stupid shit that makes no sense and it becomes a carousel of stupidity that he can’t get off.

    4. * It’s called extortion. He also had to pay a lot of money to the dnc. Extorted money—> gimme your money or I’ll hurt you…..

  2. When you have made evil the means of survival, do not expect men to remain good. Do not expect them to stay moral and lose their lives for the purpose of becoming the fodder of the immoral. Do not expect them to produce, when production is punished and looting rewarded. Do not ask, “Who is destroying the world?” You are.

    –Ayn Rand–

    1. “When you have made . . .”

      Great quote!

I was just thinking the same thing. That KH is withing 50 points of being elected, makes this culture too dangerous for Achievers.

    2. Ayn Rand LMAO. Now there’s a self-referential, self-centered, insecure atheist if there ever were one. Like William F. Buckley, Jr, I had to flog myself to read Atlas Shrugged in high school in the 1970s. There we were, a class full of young Jesuit students dissecting Rand’s book and her “thinking”. Fun times. Whittaker Chambers review of her book Big Sister Is Watching You provoked Rand to hate Chambers and avoid anywhere Buckley appeared.

      1. Those of us who have not forfeited the ability to think clearly know how to classify the intellectually and morally bankrupt apologists for the irrational who feel constrained to trash Rand’s weaknesses without acknowledging her many strengths and contributions. By virtue of that comment, you present yourself as extremely insecure in the face of Rand’s superior ability to reason.

      2. I absolutely hated “The Fountainhead” as a book. I saw the movie and liked it.

I think Atlas Shrugged is one of the best works of fiction ever written, but I think you need to read it like other dystopia’s.
Like Brave new World, 1984 or especially Animal farm as a sort of cartoon.

There is no doubt that rand is a “self-referential, self-centered, insecure atheist”.
We the living is an excellent depiction of the pre-Staninist Soviet Union.

Anthem ranks well with Dystopias like Brave New World.

Despite my dislike of the fountainhead – the plot is fine, but the writing is tedious, Rand deserves a great deal of respect as an author, and as an influence. Personally more so than Buckley – who certainly was atleast as self centered and arrogant as Rand, whose fiction though wonderful is not meaningful as Rand’s is.

Was Rand’s personal life a mess – certainly. Did objectivism become a cult – certainly.

As to the intellectual criticisms of Rand by others – such as rooms full of Jesuits – not all that interested.
I do not expect perfection from Rand or Mises or Friedman, or Coase or Buckley or other prominent conservatives or libertarians.

Rands evolution to her particular strain of libertarianism is interesting, and likely heavily influenced by her Russian/Soviet history.

Rand philosophically jumps from Aristotle to the Austrians, with a giant hole where the Renaissance and later Scottish enlightenment took place.

At the same time I find it extremely interesting that she arrived at very nearly the same place essentially on her own with little or no familiarity with centuries of western philosophical evolution.

I think Rand’s atheism is flawed. The foundations of free markets, capitalism, western thought the scottism enlightenment almost all modern western thought except communism and socialism rests on the intrinsic value of the individual and there fore the rights and liberty of individuals. I do not think you can get there without something more. I think Self interest is an incredibly potent force – but alone it is insufficient.

If you are expecting Rand to be her hero – Aristotle, or Locke or even Adam Smith you will be disappointed.
But if you treat her as Orwell or Huxley you will not be disappointed. Further she has been and will continue to be more influential than Buckley or Chambers – which is not intended to put them down.
Objectivism continues through today and while it still a bit too cult like for my taste, Objectivist debaters are normally quite capable of taking down any of a variety of left wing nuts.

        1. As to the intellectual criticisms of Rand by others – such as rooms full of Jesuits – not all that interested.

Point taken. OTOH, I’m not here to persuade anyone with what boys in a Jesuit school thought of Ayn Rand’s subpar intelligence, but only to witness that some of us read her works. How many on this forum did? Given the responses, next to no one. That’s the problem with Americans: they don’t read classic works, critical works, nor scientific works, but they are long on opinions. They have the attention span of a bumble bee, which makes them, and America in general, a dystopia just like Rand’s book. This is why it was roundly criticized by William F. Buckley Jr and Whittaker Chambers. Decades later, Chambers article still gets quoted.

Every Sunday morning before Mass, we gather as a family at home in the living room, listen/read the Lectionary for the Readings for Sunday Mass, then watch a video sermon by Bishop Robert Barron on youtube. Then we proceed to Mass, partake in the Liturgy, listen attentively to the sermon by one of our Jesuit priests, get fed by Christ, and after Mass we gather as parishioners to discuss the significance of what just transpired. That’s an entire morning of being cerebral, consulting sacred texts, listening to clerics more holy and wise than ourselves, all to grow mentally, intellectually, spiritually.

If only most Americans read their religious sacred texts, be they the Koran, Torah or Bible, silently reflect, discuss with peers/family, and then apply – walk their talk. Not going to happen anytime in our lifetime until the world collapses, and then people will be on their knees looking for God. or not. History repeats itself.

The first reading from today’s Liturgy of the Hours, Office of the Readings, applies all too well:

From the beginning of the book of Jeremiah 1:1-19

The call of the prophet Jeremiah

The word of the Lord came to me thus:
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I dedicated you,
a prophet to the nations I appointed you.
          “Ah, Lord God!” I said,
“I know not how to speak; I am too young.”

          But the Lord answered me,

Say not, “I am too young.”
          To whomever I send you, you shall go;
whatever I command you, you shall speak.
          Have no fear before them,
because I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord.

Then the Lord extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying,

See, I place my words in your mouth!
          This day I set you
          over nations and over kingdoms,
To root up and to tear down,
          to destroy and to demolish,
          to build and to plant.

          TL;DR: Lead!!!!

          1. Estovir,
Yeah, I tried to read Atlas Shrugged, but just could not get into it. Something about her writing style. I say the same thing about The Hobbit and get all kinds of grief for it. However, I do have A Brave New World, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, A Canticle for Leibowitz on the shelf. Need to get Lord of the Flies.

          2. “How many on this forum did?”

My guess is a lot more than you think, and many conservatives probably got a better understanding of what they were fighting for, even if they have disagreements with objectivists.

            ” Ayn Rand’s subpar intelligence,”

Questioning Ayn Rand’s intellectual capacity is a matter of personal opinion. However, it reflects more about you than Ayn Rand in this case.

          3. The theme of _AS_ is: The role of man’s mind in human existence.

If you engage in mindless rituals “every Sunday morning,” you would find such a theme threatening. And you would degenerate into mindless personal attacks.

If you believe that the story is just about the gold standard, capitalism, or individualism — you would find the writing “repetitive.”

If you believe that _AS_ is “dystopian,” then you don’t understand the meaning of that word, or you missed major events in the novel. For one, the good ultimately wins. For another, you completely missed the significance of this line: “We never had to take any of it seriously, did we?”

      1. No she died like most people from her period from poor health caused by decades of smoking.
Her personal relationships disappointed her. Her philosophy did not.
Rand named Leonard Peikoff as her heir and he used the assets of her estate to start the Ayn Rand institute and other endeavors that use her invested wealth as the foundation for continuing her legacy.

      2. “Didn’t she die broke and disillusioned?”

        Idiot.

Idk, George, is that what Google AI Summary told you?

    3. “When you have made evil the means of survival, ”

In writing Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand performed a great favor in America and elsewhere by attacking communism and stressing individual freedom.

Despite my personal reservations about the book’s repetition and prose, the enduring popularity of Atlas Shrugged is a resounding testament to its impact. Its massive sales then and continued sales today affirm its ability to resonate with a wide audience.

The book’s greatness doesn’t mean it should be viewed as a way of life, for the book, in my experience, could lead to a very rigid approach to life, focusing on the evils that have to be fought and only on a limited number of ways of living.

Overall, I would recommend Americans to read the book, but with a cautionary note. The book should not be their Bible, meaning it should not be the sole source of their beliefs and values. It’s important to read widely and critically, and to form one’s own opinions based on a variety of perspectives.

The full quote is one of the best.

      1. SM pretty good. I think Atlas Shrugged is about 200 pages too long. But it is still one of the best dystopias ever written.
Further while her much shorter dystopia Anthem is very similar to Brave new world or 1984 or Animal farm,
It differs from all of those in critically important ways. Most every other Dystopia starts inside a failed totalitarian system and follows the Few struggling to get out. If you want to see the relentless horror of systems like socialism and communism that reject the individual – Orwell, Huxley and Rand’s other work will get you there.

Atlas Shrugged is partly Unique in charting the path to collectivist dystopias. Though Animal farm addresses that.

But the completely unique feature of Atlas Shrugged is what Nasseem Talib calls anti-fragile. The intrinsic nature of free market individualism to overcome attempts to chain it. Rand takes 1000 pages to relentlessly try to crush capitalism, and with each new blow and Burden it continues on. In Atlas Shrugged precluding the capitalist instinct to survive and thrive despite adversity ultimately requires Rand’s capitalist Hero’s to CHOOSE to go on strike to keep them from propping up collectivist failure.

Atlas Shrugged is relentlessly dark and downbeat, while concurrently being uplifting.

In Brave new world and 1984 a few people escape collectivism. In Atlas Shrugged a few people make enough capitalism continue to work in an increasingly collectivist society to prevent total catastrophic collapse.

1984 shows us the h311scape that collectivists seek to drag us to.

Atlass shrugged is far more resonant to the moment, it shows how unbeleivably difficult it is to completely destroy the self interested individualism prevents even collectivism from directlyu destorying itself and us.

Atlas Shrugged is 1000 pages of growing dystopian collectivism trying to kill the self interested individualism that is preventing collectivism from collapsing into total chaos.

Atlas Shrugged is far more appropriate for this moment.

This blog is a mirror of the world at the moment – the forces of good and evil pitted head to head in a near even battle.
With each side claiming to be good and their enemy evil. In atlas Shrugged the forces of evil both sell themselves as good and think of themselves as good.

I am optomistic – every day that Dennis or George or Gigi or … posts idiotic claims that Harris is popular or truly winning peoples hearts and minds is re-assuring.

This entire election cycle has been a long long relentless effort by the left to crush any opposition – and yet Trump is still standing.

The total desperation is palpable. George or Dennis or Gigi come here and tell us how insecure and desparate they are everyday.

I think it is highly unlikely that Harris can win without cheating. I think it is unlikely she can win by cheating and not get caught – many things are different from 2020 – cheif among them Trump is 7pts better than he was at this time in 2020, and Republicans know exactly what to look for regarding Fraud this time. That is important not just to deal with results where there is fraud sufficient to tip the election, but as a preventative to fraud. Cheats do their dirty deeds in the dark. Biden was not knifed in the back out in the open.
It is still not clear which of the suspects was Cassius and all are claiming this was Joe’s choice. Just like Censoring Covid or the Hunter Biden laptop story was Zuckerbergs free choice. Regardless, there will be far less fraud if it has to be conducted under spotlights.

The larger Trump’s share of the popular vote the less fraud their will be.

Regardless, while I think it is clear Trump will win, and I think the polls that claim this is close are wrong. And it does matter in the sense that 4 years of Harris H311 is a greater price than this country should have to pay.
But it does not matter in that the left is on the downhill slide. While the left views Obama as a hero.
Trump beat Clinton primarily because voters did NOT want 4 more years of Obama.

Biden squeeked past Trump – with lots of help, by making it clear he was NOT the second coming of Obama, he was just an average Joe.
Then as president out Obama’d Obama.

A Harris presidency would likely be worse.
And that is a good thing.

        That is how we learn.

We are in the midst of the most significant political realignment I have ever seen. On large numbers of issues the Parties are flipping.
That realignment is ongoing. Four successful years of Trump will continue that realignment favorable to republicans.
Four unsuccessful years of Harris will do the same.

We are with near certainty NOT going to get 4 successful years of Harris.

I can go on and on – but all trends are headed the wrong way for democrats.

Things are going to be messy – possiblky for a decade. But we are in the protracted death throes of wokism.

Or to put it in Rand’s terms – Atlas Shrugged.

  3. With any group whose ideology includes the concept of “the ends justify the means” (which is, in actuality, any group of amoral thugs) you can expect lies as their primary mode of communication.

  4. The Dems have taken up a 1-party, “us vs. them”, solipsistic definition of “democracy” — those processes which lead to Dems winning. No different than Trump’s definition of a free and fair election — one where he wins. Both are dangerous excursions into 1984-double-speak.

    1. solipsistic, a new word pbinca learned from a comment a few weeks ago on this site!

    2. pbinca, one of these things does not look like the other. Both Trump and the Democratic party have questioned election results. The difference is that Trump has not spent millions of dollars on lawyers to try and stop anyone from being on the ballot. Your equivocation of the two is slowly thought out.

      1. Trump never QUESTIONED election results–because he was losing in the polls, he claimed the election was rigged even before Election Day. He tried to prevent absentee and mail ballots form being tabulated. He tried to bully Fox News into rescinding its call that Biden won Arizona. He sent people to try to intimidate poll workers. Trump tried to bully Secretaries of State into “finding” him votes he didn’t get. He had fake electors falsify Electoral College documents that said he won when he didn’t–which is a felony. Trump sent an angry mob to invade the Capitol to try to prevent the rightful winner from taking office.. What Trump did was illegal. THAT’s the difference.

        1. Gigi, I can find a montage of Democrats saying that Trump was not a legitimate President. Waking up in the morning and drinking your coffee as you watch The View does not make you informed concerning the events of the day. The timing of your comments seems to be coordinated with the ending of the morning news on MSNBC. They tell you what to think and what to say and you scamper over to the Turley blog like the good little puppy that you are. Oh such a good girl Gigi! Such a good girl!

          1. “a montage of Democrats saying that Trump was not a legitimate President. ”

Gigenius herself STILL claims Trump was not legitimate, and that he stole the election.

Of course, she still thinks that Alpha Bank and the pee tape are real.

I was an election denier long before Trump was—-Gigenius

            1. Here are some facts: 1. Trump LOST the popular vote in 2016 to Hillary Clinton; 2. Trump’s campaign colluded with Russian hackers to spread lies about Hillary Clinton in a targeted attack based on insider polling information directed to districts where support for Hillary was soft enough that the lies might make a difference.* THAT is how he “won” the Electoral College. Trump was not the legitimate choice of most American voters.

*I’ve cited the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee Report that establishes these facts.

              1. LIE
“1. Trump LOST the popular vote in 2016 to Hillary Clinton;”

Nope. Trump won 29 of 50 popular votes for President in 2016, and a majority of the Electoral College.

                LIE
They concluded that the Russian interference (bots) was inconsequential.

Pathological LIAR, who also claimed that Kamala Harris was on Democrat Primary ballots.

                LIAR

                1. Tom: 1. Hillary received 3 million more votes than Trump; 2. Excerpted from “Wikipedia”:

“Like the first volume of the report issued by the Special Counsel investigation into the interference,[20][21] the joint press statement issued by the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in October 2016,[22] and the declassified Intelligence Community assessment released in January 2017,[15] the second and fifth volumes of the report concluded that the Russian interference occurred primarily by hacking-and-dumping operations targeting the internal communications of the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and Clinton campaign officials (specifically John Podesta) and active measures social media campaigns (particularly on Facebook and Twitter) to influence the electorate to vote for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in the general election.[30]

The second volume of the report notes that the active measures social media campaign also attempted to influence voters to vote for Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary elections, for Donald Trump over Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio in the Republican primary elections, Jill Stein as well as Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in the general election, and targeted the consideration of Mitt Romney to serve as U.S. Secretary of State in the Trump administration with an opposition campaign during the Trump transition.[31]

Other platforms identified by the second volume of the report as being used for Russian active measures on social media included Instagram, YouTube, Google+, Google Search, Gmail, Google Ads, Google Voice, Reddit, Tumblr, and LinkedIn, while other platforms were used as well.[32] While the second volume of the report cites a 2016 study published by the NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence that found that entities supported by the Russian government have employed paid online trolls to post misleading information on Wikipedia in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the report did not identify Wikipedia as one of the Web 2.0 services used by the Russian government to influence voters in the 2016 presidential election.[33]

Subsequent declassified Intelligence Community assessments and press statements released discussing Russian interference in the 2018 elections, the 2020 elections, and the 2022 elections have likewise concluded or stated that the interference occurred primarily by active measures social media influence campaigns and not by cyberattacks on U.S. elections infrastructure—including by spreading disinformation about the security of the elections infrastructure itself to undermine confidence in U.S. election processes and in democracy in the United States by the American public.[43][b][c]”

                  3. If Kamala Harris wasn’t on the ballot as VP–then who was?

                  1. Gigenius

                    1. So what? She lost 29 of 50 popular votes AND the EC.

                    2. So what? Trump won fair and square. You’re just mad that Hillary’s pee tape and Alpha Bank didn’t work.

                    3. “If Kamala Harris wasn’t on the ballot as VP–then who was?”

You spastic fvcking idiot. Educate yourself. There is no Primary ballot for VP. So NO ONE.

                  2. “Hillary received 3 million more votes than Trump” – closer to 2,8 but that is irrelevant. That is not how the election is conducted.
If you want it that way – change the constitution.

Please do not cite Wikipedia – it is not a source for anything with even the tiniest element of politics to it.

“Like the first volume of the report issued by the Special Counsel investigation”
No one is interested in the self serving nonsense of democrats.

I would note that Trump/RNC was hacked this year – can we toss the election if Trump loses ?

The US under Biden interfered in the Brazillian presidential election.

Nations try to influence other nations elections.

In the 2020 election the US government fraudulently interfered in the election with FBI, DHS, and CIA officials coercing SM to censor material harmful to Biden.

The one group that absolutely under no circumstances can interfere in a US election is the US govenrment.

As to your “facts” – the CEO of crowdstrike testified under oah that it was not technically possible to determine where the hack of the DNC originated. Neither the FBI nor Mueller had even the evidence that Crowdstrike had.
VIPS has said with an extremely high degree of probability the DNC hack was an inside job, that thge data was removed using a USB stick. That there is no Internet connection even in the US fast enough to replicate the timestamps on the files downloaded.
Wikileaks has stated unequivocally that it was NOT the russians.

Any conclusion that the Russians hacked the DNC is pure speculation.
I would further note it is unlikely as Putin wanted Hillary not Trump.

Thje question who would Putin want – Trump or Hillary is an IQ test.
If you answer Trump your IQ is 80.

“The second volume of the report notes that the active measures social media campaign also attempted to influence voters to vote for Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary elections, for Donald Trump over Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio in the Republican primary elections, Jill Stein as well as Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in the general election, and targeted the consideration of Mitt Romney to serve as U.S. Secretary of State in the Trump administration with an opposition campaign during the Trump transition.” An awful lot of water for a tiny number of incredibly bad internet adds that no one with a brain would take seriously.

In an era when memesters on the internet create amazing political content – you actually think a handful of badly crafted garbage allegedly from Russia mattered ?

Fiunally SO WHAT – the russians MAY have sent a few internet adds – aparently the irainians have sent assassins – which is more likely to influence an election.

The media in the UK, the EU, AU and accross the world constantly tell us whop should and should not win US elections
                    Ambassadors way in.

There is plenty of foreign influence. In left wing nut world aparently every governemtn in the world is allowed to try to influence our elections EXCEPT the russians.

Oh, I would note the most successful effort to undermine confidence in US elections has been the conduct of democrats.

“If Kamala Harris wasn’t on the ballot as VP–then who was?” No one – there is no one on the ballot for VP in primaries.

                1. Is it possible to use common sense here when reviewing, interpreting, and responding to Gigi’s comments? Everyone who voted for Biden in the primary knew that Harris was the current VP and was going to be the VP if Biden won the Presidential election. Everyone also knows that a statement that Clinton won the popular vote in 2016 means the national popular vote and not the state by state popular vote.

                  1. George logging in as anonymous:

What Gigenius said is that Kamala was on the primary ballot. That was a lie. At the time of the primaries, many were calling for Biden to replace Kamala, because she was widely regarded as a failure. So any voter who just “assumed” Kamala was going to be VP, would qualify as a dim wit, just like you and Gigenius.

What they should have been able to assume was that the person who actually WAS on the ballot would be the nominee.

Any idiot that says Hillary “won” the “popular vote” ignores two FACTS. One, there are 50 popular votes for President, not ONE. To ignore that is the height of stupidity, since its the very REASON we do it the way we do. There is nothing else to “win”. If some spastic wants to make the worthless, irrelevant statement that Hillary got more votes nationwide, have at it. But she didnt WIN a goddam thing, and thats Gigenius’ purpose for using that lame red herring.

Second, to tout that as some sort of mandate is indicative of Gigenius’ low IQ, and yours as well. Look at the percentage of voting age people who actually vote. Ask yourself how many people dont bother to vote because of the State (res/blue) they live in? I know 50+ people who didnt vote in 2016 because Trump winning this state was a given. I cant say how the numbers would have changed if there were a nationwide vote and no EC, but i can say it would be different. Not just because of State bias, but also because campaigns would be run differently. Why would Trump have spent millions more in New York in 2016 when he knew he had no chance there. With more ground game, could he have gotten 200k more votes there? Maybe. And he would have still lost NY.

Gigenius likes to think she speaks for the majority, and ignorantly uses these straw men as her substantiation. Low IQ.

Its a turd, and so is your lame attempt at cover for her.

                  2. Here is Sevelaz-George, logged in as anonymous, trying to run cover for Gigi’s lies.

First, she claimed that Kamala was on the ballot. That was a LIE, born of ignorance. There is no primary for VP. Also, if anyone assumed Harris was going to be the VP, then they would be as ignorant as you and Gigienius. Operatives were calling for a different running mate during and before the primaries, because Harris was widely regarded as a failure (lower apporval rating than even Joe, lowest ever by a VP). What primary voters assumed is that the person they chose from the ballot would be the nominee. We see where that got them.

Second, there is no such thing as a nationwide popular vote for President. The stupidity of that assertion is that its EXACTLY NOT that, and for a reason. If some spastic wants to make the worthless and irrelevant statement that Hillary got more votes nationwide than Trump, thats fine. But she didn’t WIN anything. There is nothing to WIN, except for the popular vote in each Sovereign State and the resultant EC. Claiming a “win” is Gigenius lame attempt to gaslight.

Further, claiming the national vote count as some sort of mandate is also low IQ reasoning. I know at least 50 people who did not vote in 2016 because Trump was a shoe-in in their state. Additionally, campaigns would be different if it were a single nationwide vote. Why would Trump expend extra millions on a ground game in New York? Could he net 200k more votes there if he did? Likely. And he would have still lost NY. So the resources are better utilized in gaining just a few thousand votes in Wisconsin, where it would make a difference. Its not rocket science. Nor is it hard to imagine that vote counts would be different. Acting like Hillary and Biden had some sort of supermajority mandate and that almost 80 million people are “cultists” is low IQ reasoning.

                    Get a grip.

              2. Gigi: Here is what happened in 2016: Trump Won! Here is what happened in 2020: Trump Won! Here is what will happen in 2024: Trump Won! Suck it up and cope.

          2. You do realize that your troll status is well known and you just embarrass yourself and your mother with each post

Had a meeting yesterday with a biochemist at the university who runs a new lab. He expressed an interest in HIV and inflammation in the brain, knowing my area is HIV cardiology and inflammation. We went at it for an hour: he had brilliant ideas on molecular mechanisms, insightful commentary on ceramide and lipids, very humble in his approach as he is new at HIV which is why he consulted with me, and overall an encouraging and promising meeting. He also served in the US military in Iraq where he watched soldiers die from hemorrhage, which pushed him into pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry to study coagulation so as to pursue the prevention of hemorrhages. This is what feeds intellects: iron sharpens iron, sharing our gifts/strengths with others to promote growth, then taking action to realize those growths.

Conversations with the DNC paid trolls on here with scores of sock puppets: not so much. As you said they are truly an embarrassment.

            1. Estovir,
              A very interesting observation.
I think it was Lin who recently noted that many of Natasha/Gigi’s comments are very juvenile, even pre-juvenile, using child like words like “orange god,” “pig,” “MAGAts,” etc.
Shows true insight to their mental maturity and how they are all ID with they react only on their feelings as a three year old would.
              Very interesting.

        3. “Trump never QUESTIONED election results”
Of course he did – and you admit it. you contradict yourself.

“because he was losing in the polls”
Correct – but he gained 4pts from Augst to November and 2 more pts on election day.

If you presume that there was no fraud – Biden won by a mere 44,000 votes in 3 states.
          That is NOT obviously losing.

“he claimed the election was rigged even before Election Day.”
It was. Zuckerberg just testified to the fact that he was pressuered into supressing the hunter biden laptop story and truthful Covid information.
Either of those would likely change the outcome of an election this close.

“He tried to prevent absentee and mail ballots form being tabulated.”
38 states have constitutional provisions requiring secret ballot elections. Mailin voting can not meet 3 of the 4 requirements for a secret ballot election. Mailin balloting is unconstitutional in those states. EVERY Swing state except Nevada has a secret ballot requirment.

It was WRONG for those state to hold mailin balloting without changing their constitution.
It was wrong for courts to bless that.
It was wrong for people to vote by mail
it was wrong for those ballots to be counted
Those ballots are unlawful – that alone requires they are not counted.

If you do not follow the law – you can not expect that it will be obeyed.

All of the above is completely sepearate from the fact that not only is Mailin voting by far the most fraud prone way of voting,
it is also completely impossible to make fraud free.
It does not matter who the candidates are – mailin voting is WRONG. It opens the door to the massive fraud that the US (and much of the west) had in the 19th century that was ultimately corrected by adopting secret balloting.

Actual absentee voting and mailin voting are completely different. But states that had true absentee balloting laws – that conform to secret balloting requirements used those laws to pretend that absentee voting and mailin voting were the same thing – they are not.

There are excellent reasons there should NOT be “no excuse needed” absentee voting.
There are excellent reasons there should not be early voting.
There are excellent reasons that all voting should be in person on election day.

While not perfect, that is the simplest and simplest to secure form of voting.
Everything else undermines election trust and security, and makes fraud exponentially easier.

“He tried to bully Fox News into rescinding its call that Biden won Arizona. ”
As the AZ audit confirmed it is highly unlikely that Biden won AZ. Biden’s margin was 11,000. The Maricopa audit found almost 50,000 ballots counted for only 13,000 voters. It is impossible to know how those duplicates actually voter. But it is beyond any question that 50,000 ballots were invalid – which is 4-5 times tBidens marging of victory – and that was in ONE county in AZ. There are also indications from the audit of much larger possible fraud. Almost half of all ballots – that is nearly a million ballots had some defect that by law precluded them from being counted.
We can not expect the law to be followed if there is no consequence for violating it.

The consequence for one ballot – or one million ballots that violate the law is to discard them.

If you do that – in the future the law will be followed. If the law is followed Fraud becomes more difficult.

Just one of many issues with unconstitutional mailin ballots is that it completely obliterates exit polls as a means of “auditing” an election.

One of the reasons many beleive Marodu stole the venezuelan election is that the official count and the exit polls were radically different.
If you vote by mail – you eliminate the check that exit polls perform.

“He sent people to try to intimidate poll workers.”
False that was democrats in Philadelphia and Detroit – they also intemidated voters. This happens all the time.

Nearly every state has laws that require poll workers to allow independents to observe and challenge all aspects of an election.
It was Democrats who drove out observers so that they could not do the job they were given by the law.
In state after state courts slammed election workers for barring observers – but always too late.
Closing the barn door after the cow was out.

“Trump tried to bully Secretaries of State into “finding” him votes he didn’t get.”
And oddly in both GA and WI thousands of Trump votes were found. in multiple places Trump votes were counted as Biden votes or Trump ballots were not counted. There were not enough of these to flip either GA or AZ – but the reality is that recanvasses everywhere turned up significantly more Trump votes than Biden votes – and that is what is called indicia of Fraud.

“He had fake electors falsify Electoral College documents that said he won when he didn’t”
That is litterally how the courts have for over a century directed that presidential candidates should challenge elections.

Hillary tried to get electors to change their votes.
She and Lawrence Tribe concocted the plan that Trump followed in challenging 2020.
Not only that but we know know that Biden and lawfare democrats intended to do exactly what Trump did – if the election had been just a tiny bit the other way.

We know right now that Rep Rasking is planning a certification challenge to the 2024 election – if Trump wins.

Alas alas for you hyupocrites that you be.

          “which is a felony.”
No it is the constitutionally valid means to challenge election fraud in congress.
Democrats planned to do that in 2016 and 2020, and 2024, and it was done in 1876.

“Trump sent an angry mob to invade the Capitol to try to prevent the rightful winner from taking office..”
The rightful winner is decided by the voters in free fair and lawful elections – we did not have those.

Mobs are aloowed to be angry – both legitimately and otherwise.
The capitol can not be invaded by protestors. The first amendment right to petition govenrment requires that the be allowed to protest congress as congress acts.

          “What Trump did was illegal.”
And you have not come within a thousand miles of establishing that.

The fundimental difference between democrats and republicans regarding elections – is that Democrats will do anything to win lawful or not.

Even if you claim that suddenly switching to mailin voting weeks before an election is not illegal or unconstitutional – ALL last minute changes to elections are very bad ideas, are improper. We are not supposed to make changes in even our personally lives while our passions run high.
We are not allowed to do so in public lives. We set the law – whether election law or other law distant from what the law deals with so that we can craft the law logically and dispassionately. What you did to elections in 2020 was WRONG, and it was UNNECESCSARY.

A plurality of people still beleive the 2020 election was decided by Fraud.

Today more than 60% of people beleive that there will be significant fraud in 2024.
it does not matter whether they are democrats or republicans – or what fraud they are cocerned about – that distrust for elections is YOUR doing.

That is what happens when you make last minute changes for your own benefit.

I would note with regard to Raffensurger – it has taken us 4 full years to find out – but not a single fulton county mailin ballot had its signature verified. The Fulton county electon commissioners testified to that under oath.

Regardless, if you wish to be trusted – you must behave trustworthy.

You lied babout the 2016 election, you lied about the collusion delusion, you lied about spying on Trump,
you lied about carter page, about goerge papadoulis, about Gen. Flynn,
You lied about covid manyt many times
          You lied about masks,
          you lied about lockdowns.
You lied abouit the Hunter Biden laptop.
You lied about the Biden crime syndicate.
          You lied about Biden’s competence.
          Yopu lied about unemployment
          you lied about inflation.
          you lied about the border.
          You lied about afghanistan
          you lied about Ukraine.
You hoodwinked you own democrat voters with a fake primary.
You lied about social media censorship.
You lied about the 14th amendment
          You lied about presidential immunity.

And on and on – the list is endless.
All of these and more lies are immoral.
All are about winning no matter what the truth ort what the cost.

Why sould anyone beleive you can conduct a free and fair election ?

You will disregard any election law – even constitutional requirement to win – if you can get away with it.

Why should we beleive the people who lied about all the above,
Lied about Biden’s competence then knifed him in the back and then staged a coup giving your parties nomination to someone with excatly zero votes for president.

Most people beleive you cheated in 2020 and even more beleive you will do so again.

    3. why don’t you try reading the constitution and The Federalist Papers just for starters before troll-posting a confirmation of your ignorance.

    4. No different than Trump’s definition of a free and fair election — one where he wins.

The only commonality between the two is that they want to win. Trump goes further to define the process for him to win involves a free and fair election. The Democrats’ actions prove their definition of democracy is pure 1084 double-speak.

    5. “No different than Trump’s definition of a free and fair election — one where he wins. “

Pbinca, you can express your views, but it’s important to do so in a respectful manner. There were many reasons for one to believe the 2020 election was crooked. If you were more respectful in your approach, you could see some merit even if you still believed Biden won the election. However, your disrespectful comments make it difficult to engage in a constructive debate.

  5. “. . . the concerted effort of Democrats to bar challengers . . .” (JT)

First the D’s steal a primary election from some 14 million of their own voters. Then they attempt to disenfranchise their own voters in the general election.

Now is the time to say: Election interference.

And to ask: They wouldn’t manipulate an election between Trump and Harris — would they?

    1. Both Biden AND Harris were on the primary ballot. There was NO election interference. If anyone is going to try to cheat–it’s Trump. MAGA world has already installed confederates in state election positions, and they have already refused to certify the results of elections when their candidate lost. THAT’s the MAGA plan, and if Trump loses and they try to refuse to certify votes, they’re looking at prison sentences.

      1. No worries, gigenius, Trump isn’t going to lose.

Look for violence at the ballot boxes. Its on your hands.

        1. Do you really think the majority of Americans are going to suddenly fall in love with Trump–whom most of us rejected in 2016 and 2020? Do you think we’re going to forget how he screwed up COVID, how he lied to us about how serious it would be, the daily records for deaths and infections, the trucks parked outside hosptials as temporary morgues, how he put America into a recession, how his tariffs caused the cost of goods to rise, how we had to bail out the agriculture industry when China imposed reciprocal tariffs on our agricultural products, or the insurrection? Do you think that most Americans are going to support the Christian Nationalist agenda set out in Project 2025, when most of us are opposed to it? Do you think the majority of us are going to tolerate MAGA losers threatening us with violence for exercising our right to vote him down a third time?

          1. “Do you think that most Americans are going to support the Christian Nationalist agenda set out in Project 2025, when most of us are opposed to it? ”

            According to a yougov survey

Overall, 20% of U.S. adult citizens say they’ve heard a lot about Project 2025, while 39% have heard a little and 42% have heard nothing at all. 35% of Democrats say they’ve heard a lot about the project, compared to 7% of Republicans.

            Gaslighting Gigenius at it again.

            Bwahahahahahahahaha

I reject your reality and substitute my own—-Gigenius

            1. From “Newsweek”, dateline 7/8/2024:

“People against the project generally say Project 2025 “is an extreme Republican plan that will give the president new and unchecked powers over federal agencies, eliminate abortion access, and roll back action on climate change, LGBTQ+ rights, and other areas,” the report said.

Navigator said that “as people learn more about Project 2025, their opposition to it grows.” It found that after “learning more about the policies in Project 2025 and reading negative messaging about the plan,” independents’ support decreased from 10 percent to 6 percent, and their opposition increased from 25 percent to 72 percent. It is important to note that this was a specific goal of Navigator.

The report said Democrats and independents who were against Project 2025 were worried it would “threaten American rights and freedoms,” while “non-MAGA Republicans” who were against it were worried it would “hurt the middle class and working families.”

              1. Nobody cares, Gigenius.

                As I said,

Overall, 20% of U.S. adult citizens say they’ve heard a lot about Project 2025, while 39% have heard a little and 42% have heard nothing at all. 35% of Democrats say they’ve heard a lot about the project, compared to 7% of Republicans.

The “majority” of Americans CANNOT POSSIBLY be against it because 80% of Americans know little to nothing of what it is.

                Pathological LIAR

              2. “say Project 2025 “is an extreme Republican plan “

Crazy lady, as you have been told many times, Project 2025 has nothing to do with the Republican Platform. It is rare for thinking people to agree 100% with any platform. Instead, why don’t you comment on the Platform that Trump endorses? It is pretty much unchanged from 4 years ago. Can’t say that for Democrats whose platform is never mentioned by Harris and has changed 180 degrees from what she believed two weeks ago..

You can only debate at the level of an idiot. Let’s see if you can’t raise your level and point out policy. Harris was terrible at almost everything she did in the past so that you can discuss that as well.

                1. She will just make shit up, as she always does. Trump caused 15% unemployment, not the lockdowns the Governors ordered. Trump caused a recession, not the lockdowns the governors ordered. Trump caused millions of deaths, not Fauci’s FVCKED response. Trump’s tariff’s caused inflation, not $6T in spending. Inflation was 9% when Trump left office, not 1.4%.

What happened to Trump’s tariff’s, Gigenius?

            2. I cited a different study, published by Newsweek (7/18/2024) that got struck (as many of my posts do), that says that of those Americans familiar with Project 2025, 70% oppose it.

              1. “that says that of those Americans familiar with Project 2025, 70% oppose it.”

                Thats not what you said.

                LIAR

So 70% of the 20% oppose it.

Thats 14%. Not a “majority of Americans”.

Because the majority of Americans are too smart for your PATHETIC red herring. They don’t CARE about Project 2025. It has nothing to do with this election. Sorry.

Try that juvenile crap on your “friends”, Gigenius, that turd don’t float here.

                Pathological LIAR

            1. From CNN, dateline 12/22/2016–piece entitled “It’s Official, Clinton Swamps Trump in Popular Vote”:

“More Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than any other losing presidential candidate in US history.

The Democrat outpaced President-elect Donald Trump by almost 2.9 million votes, with 65,844,954 (48.2%) to his 62,979,879 (46.1%), according to revised and certified final election results from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Clinton’s 2.1%margin ranks third among defeated candidates, according to statistics from US Elections Atlas. Andrew Jackson won by more than 10% in 1824 but was denied the presidency, which went to John Quincy Adams. In 1876, Samuel Tilden received 3% more votes than Rutherford B. Hayes, who eventually triumphed by one electoral vote.”

              1. “More Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than any other losing presidential candidate in US history.”

Gigenius shows her ignorance again, quoting old sources.

Trump received more votes than any losing candidate in history

                LIAR

            2. Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 by about 3 million votes, but, thanks to coordinated effort with Russian hackers, won the Electoral College. Trump lost again in 2020.

              1. Hillary LOST. TRUMP WON THE ELECTION.
We do not elect by popular vote or mob rule.

Biden was installed via massive cheating. TRUMP WON.

          2. Gigi asks: “Do you really think the majority of Americans are going to suddenly fall in love with Trump?”

            Yes, they already have.

What a majority of Americans will remember is how AWFUL the past 4 years has been under Biden Harris ASTOUNDING INCOMPETENCE, DIVISION, CENSORSHIP, CHAOS, WARS, DEATH, DESTRUCTION, HARM, and their fcked up authoritarian policies.

            #UnityParty2024!

          3. Gigi asks: “Do you really think the majority of Americans are going to suddenly fall in love with Trump?”

            Yes! They already have.

ALL POLITICAL VIOLENCE COMES FROM THE DEMOCRATS & THEIR ANTIFA THUGS.
POLITICAL VIOLENCE COMES FROM THE LEFT.

DEMOCRAT PARTY OF TODAY IS AN EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO DEMOCRACY.

WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT TOLERATE THE VIOLENT LEFT AGAIN.
Nor will we tolerate the lawless, authoritarian, criminally corrupt BIDEN REGIME!
THEY WILL BE PROSECUTED FOR THEIR CRIMES. LAWYER UP.

IT IS DEMOCRATS & THE FASCIST BIDEN REGIME WHO ARE PLANNING FOR A CIVIL WAR WHEN TRUMP WINS. TWO-THIRDS OF THE COUNTRY BACKS MAGA/MAHA & WILL VOTE *FOR* TRUMP.

THE LEFT KNOWS THIS AND HAS COME OUT AND SAID THEY WILL START A CIVIL WAR BEFORE THEY GIVE UP POWER.

WHY DID BIDEN IMPORT ~20 MILLION FIGHTING AGED MEN INTO THE COUNTRY, PUTTING THEM UP IN HOTELS AND BARRACKS-LIKE ACCOMMODATIONS IN CITIES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY?
THEY WILL GET THEIR ORDERS TO CREATE CHAOS & CIVIL WAR ON THE US POPULATION.

THE LEFT WILL NOT RELINQUISH ITS POWER PEACEFULLY. THEY HAVE SAID AS MUCH OUT LOUD. BIDEN’S ATTORNEY GENERAL HAS ISSUED A THREAT SAYING AS MUCH.
CHAOS IS COMING. IT WILL COME FROM DEMOCRATS & BIDEN REGIME THUGS.

BANK YOUR VOTE AS EARLY AS YOU CAN. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL ELECTION DAY.

PREPARE FOR WAR. WE ARE A COUNTRY AT WAR RIGHT NOW.
FROM NOW UNTIL THE ELECTION IT WILL GET WORSE. BEFORE IT GETS BETTER.

TRUMP = UNITY & PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.

            #UnityParty2024! SAVE AMERICA!

          4. The majority of Americans look at the nightmare that is the socialist, Marxis, communist, fascist party the Democrats have become, to include sane, normal Democrats and vote either third party, for Trump or not at all.
All the ones who do vote for Harris/Waltz are MSM leftist cult members.
            You prove that.

  6. What the Democrats, i.e., Pelosi, Schumer, the Obamas, and the Clintons did ~ behind the scenes forcing Joe Biden to withdraw against his will / desire in the 2024 Presidential election is historical unacceptable dirty and I hope the subject of a movie “someday.” So far Harris has not made her position clear avoiding making clear statements but throwing around Obama like phrases like hope and change… new America for all … suffocating, I can’t stand this much longer. Don’t like Trump much but will vote for him this time.

  7. Jonathan: Most election experts agree that American elections are the worst among Western democracies. The Dems and the GOP have a stranglehold and through legal technicalities in various states have been able to keep third parties off the ballot. That’s not healthy in the largest democracy in the world.

Personally, I prefer the European or Canadian models. A first step would be to abolish the Electoral College system in which a few states, with a minority of voters, have an undue influence on a election outcome. The legacy of slavery still hangs over our electoral system and DJT used it to cause so much mischief in 2020 and will no doubt try to do the same thing this year.

      1. That’s not a bad idea. It’s an outdated system that needs to be rid of. President’s should be elected by popular vote.

        1. “President’s should be elected by popular vote.”

Thats your opinion and like bung holes, everyone has one and most of them stink. Especially yours.

The electoral college is going NOWHERE, so stop whining about it. You and Dennis sound like petulant 3rd graders.

We are a union of several SOVEREIGN STATES, not a “democracy”. The President (and VP) is the only elected official that represents ALL of the States. They should not be chosen by two hives on the coasts. Presidents ARE elected by popular vote. 50 popular votes, in fact. Get a grip.

Under the most common method for amending the Constitution, an amendment must be proposed by a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress and ratified by three-fourths of the States.

Bwahahahahahahaha not happening, so stop your whining and complaining.

          1. Wow, that’s great anonymous. But I wasn’t whining. Judy putting my two cents in.

You really do have comprehension issues. Plus, it seems you follow me like a lost puppy. That’s adorable.

            1. Svelaz whining again. And trying to gaslight his way out of being hounded (i believe thats the dog analogy you were looking for) by a fellow free speech-er.

In another classic stroke of irony and lack of self awareness, he fails to spot the obvious….that he follows Turley like a “lost puppy”.

And he fails to own his whining about the electoral college, a non issue that is NEVER going to change.

        2. “Electoral College system in which a few states, with a minority of voters, have an undue influence on a election outcome.”

I agree. We should change it to each state gets one vote, chosen by popular vote within the state. Then you idiots would really have something to whine about, as you NEVER win another Presidential election.

    1. The electoral college has nothing to do with “the legacy of slavery”. It was the free states that were smaller, and needed the extra weight that the college’s structure gives them. And the three-fifths compromise significantly reduced the slave states’ weight.

      1. Milhouse says:

“You’re lying, and you keep lying. At the time of that exchange between Washington and Jay, there is no evidence that either of them had read Vattel, or cared what he had to say.”

“The circumstances of a rising state make it necessary frequently to consult the law of nations.”

Of course, Vattel was pervasive throughout Europe and the Colonies since 1762, and Vattel was not “foreign” but international (i.e. the Law of Nations). Blackstone was obsolete and irrelevant in his discussion of not citizens but subjects and ligeance to a liege lord in a dictatorship of monarchs. In his letter of 1775, Franklin thanked Dumas for copies of Vattel writing, “I am much obliged by the kind present you have made us of your edition of Vattel. It came to us in good season, when the circumstances of a rising state make it necessary frequently to consult the law of nations.”
        ______________________________________________

“OF THE FIVE, THE ONE THE AMERICAN FOUNDERS MOST FREQUENTLY CONSULTED WAS VATTEL.”

“The Ideas that formed the Constitution, Part 20: Vattel and the Law of Nations”

        The Law of Nations

Legal terms of art also appear in what constitutional lawyers call the “Define and Punish Clause” (Article I, Section 8, Clause 10). This provision gives Congress power to “define and punish Offenses … against the Law of Nations.”

The Founders’ Sources of International Law

During the 17th and 18th centuries, five great scholars forged international law into its modern shape. In 1783, the Confederation Congress empaneled a committee consisting of James Madison of Virginia, Thomas Mifflin of Pennsylvania, and Hugh Williamson of North Carolina—all of whom were to serve at the 1787 Constitutional Convention. This committee recommended that Congress purchase the works of all five international law scholars.

        Emer de Vattel

Of the five, the one the American Founders most frequently consulted was Vattel. Like Grotius, Vattel was both a scholar and diplomat. His principal work, “Le Droit des Gens” (“The Law of Nations”), was published in French in 1758 and translated into English two years later. You can learn more about Vattel’s life at the Online Library of Liberty.

There were four reasons why Vattel was so congenial to the American Founders: First, he was the most recent of the five great authorities. Second, his book was comprehensive and readable. Third, he was a strong advocate for individual liberty. And fourth, he discussed issues that, while not always part of the “law of nations,” were very important to the Founders: the nature of confederations, the superiority of constitutions to legislatures, the need for one and only one person to supervise the executive branch, and so forth.

Vattel was referenced at the Constitutional Convention, primarily in a speech by Luther Martin of Maryland. He also showed up during the ratification debates. For example, at the Pennsylvania ratifying convention, James Wilson argued about Vattel with an Antifederalist delegate. In the South Carolina legislature, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney also debated Vattel with an Antifederalist. In New York, Gov. George Clinton relied on Vattel in a speech to his state’s ratifying convention.

    2. The electoral college has nothing to do with slavery. Additionally, I do not see how Mr Trump could have “used” the system any differently than any other candidate.

    3. “Most election experts agree”

LMAO has anyone ever been this dumb?

How do you do, sir. What is your occupation?

      Why, I’m an election expert.

    4. Brainwashed Dennis believes there is NO election “mischief” coming from Demorats this year!
      It’s all Trump’s fault!

  8. “Contradiction”, with a generous triple-scoop of hypocrisy, IS the agenda, Professor.

  9. ‘One does not have to support Trump, West, or the other third-party opponents to find this effort repulsive.’

Precisely. I wouldn’t vote for a West/BLM ticket if you paid me, but they have a right to run, and people have a right to vote for it if they so choose. ‘Democratic National Convention’, is now spelled ‘r-e-g-i-m-e’.

And related but different: Zuckerberg is ‘sorry’ he did the dems’ bidding? After efforts like his have very nearly reduced our country to a pile of ashes in just a few years? The entitlement. Sheet. We need a Richter scale for the narcissism, and Millennial Silicon Valley needs to become a footnote.

    1. I would vote for blm over dnc. At least the blm folks are honest about what they are up to.

      1. @Anonymous

Ha! No doubt. They have gone from gaslighting to straight up, bald faced, literally made up in the moment to try to curry favor, lying, right to our faces, daily, about things that transpired just a few years ago. The disdain for the electorate is so off the charts aliens in space are going, ‘What in the actual ****?’. Only a self-hating idiot would still vote DNC. This isn’t even Chutzpah, it’s just stupid. What was that about the ‘adults’ being back in charge, again?

        1. James,
Adults dont hide from everyone on the third anniversary of the Biden disaster withdraw from Afghanistan and issue a paper “statement.” Only children or cowards do that. Says a lot about their character, or lack there of.

    1. You have not missed a thing, Turley’s orchestrated horsesh*t is only geared to the brain dead of the MAGA world.

        1. When George agrees with you, then you know you’ve laid a steaming pile. Good boy, Fish Stank.

If Turley doesn’t suit your palate, why dont you and “George” find somewhere elase to dine? Eating at the same restaurant and constantly complaining about the food seems like something only a fool would do.

        2. @George

Assuming the two of you aren’t the same person, and I’m not ruling it out, go blow. Your efforts really are wasted here. Yawn. Invective doesn’t sway sane people.

        1. Putin would love to hear Jill Stein is on the ballot. Who’s her campaign manager Mike Flynn? Carter Page perhaps?

          1. Fishwings and Georgie must sure love the taste of ““orchestrated horsesh*t” cuz they’re here everyday to eat it up even before we get a chance to read it!

          2. Fishstick, and yet it was Putin who endorsed Biden. Why would Putin do that???? Let us use some critical thinking skills.
Biden is obviously mentally unfit for office. Those of us who have been paying attention, knew this back in 2020. We said so. The Biden admin is very weak. We all saw this. Of course our enemies took advantage of this situation. It is in the best interest of our enemies interest for another four years of a weak WH admin. Of course Putin would endorse Biden. He probably is even happier with Harris, who is even weaker.

          3. Fish Dunce STILL believes Carter Page was a Russian asset. LMAO what a maroon.

    2. What was “shot-down,” dear non-attorney, was the AG’s “Civil Investigative Demand (CID), which demanded production of evidence without a pending lawsuit. The Memorandum in support of the court’s decision is still pending.
      Try to understand.

    3. Amit Mehta is a corrupt judge and a disgrace to the bench. The Missouri and Texas AGs were completely correct and Mehta overruled them only because he is in bed with Media Mutters.

  10. It seems so many people are shocked at this turn of events. If I remember correctly, Mr Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate for the first time after getting all other democrats kicked off the ballot for the primary, including the favored incumbent, Alice Palmer. I also remember a Republican Challenger for the Senate in Illinois, Jack Ryan, who was forced to withdraw because the custody records of his divorce, which had been sealed, were opened on the order of a judge in California. This was despite the desire of both Mr Ryan and his ex- wife Jeri Ryan (actress) to keep them sealed for the protection of their son. Mr Ryan was thought to be a strong challenger for the open Illinois Senate seat in 2004. The opponent was Barack Obama.
These Shenanigans have gone on forever but of late they have been a mainstay of democratic tactics.
I think most of us remember the most recent Governors race in Michigan where the highly regarded Republican nominee was dismissed from the ballot. The candidates had to submit signatures of 15000-30000 and many were contested with a non-decision virtually at the last minute where the board deadlocked and despite the deadlock the default option of not letting them run was used. Seems a true democratic principle would have been to let them run.
I thought that was why we had primary elections. Let whoever wants to run actually run and the public weeds them out. Seems the simple thing would be to establish residency and pay a nominal fee to be placed on the ballot then let democracy work it’s magic.
You clearly establish the outline of what residency is, citizenship, what documents are needed to verify citizenship and residency, what the fee is and that’s it. All the rest is nonsense. More people might run if the process was simple and it should be.
The Constitution basically lays out the requirements for House, Senate and Presidency. Do we need anything extra?.

    1. “I also remember a Republican Challenger for the Senate in Illinois, Jack Ryan, who was forced to withdraw because the custody records of his divorce, which had been sealed, were opened on the order of a judge in California. This was despite the desire of both Mr Ryan and his ex- wife Jeri Ryan (actress) to keep them sealed for the protection of their son.”

GEB, this action was the type of shenanigans Obama used to climb to the top. I don’t care as much that they were used, but my main concern is how they were revealed in the first place. Much of Obama’s rise to the top appears to have been built on this type of dishonest action.

  11. We have seen the anti-democracy and fascist tactics of the Democrat party in various forms. They tried to keep Trump off the ballot. They tried to keep RFK off the ballot. They tried to keep West off the ballot. And now, in Wisconsin, they tried to keep Green party Jill Stein off the ballot and they failed.
Wisconsin Supreme Court allows Jill Stein to stay on state ballot as Green Party nominee
    https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/wisconsin-supreme-court-allows-jill-stein-stay-state-ballot-green-party?utm_source=breaking&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter?utm_source=referral&utm_medium=offthepress&utm_campaign=home

It has been a very bad year for the anti-democracy, fascist Democrat party.
Mark Zuckerberg admitting the Biden/Harris admin pressured Facebook to censor Americans.
New emails reveal the Biden/Harris admin knew how bad the withdraw from Afghanistan was, but gaslight the nation that it was a success.
On the anniversary of the withdraw from Afghanistan, both Biden and Harris are no shows. They issued “statements.”
The Biden/Harris admin get caught in trying to gaslight the American people for three years that Biden was “sharp as a tack!” when his mental decline was put on full display for all to see. Who is running the country?
Then the Democrat party stages a coup to out Biden and install Harris who never got one vote in the primaries as there were none. And they are the defenders of democracy?
And their current campaign strategy is “joy.”

    1. “It has been a very bad year for the anti-democracy, fascist Democrat party.”

West prevailed in Michigan, and Stein in Michigan, but West lost his ballot position in Pennsylvania. So far, these proceedings seem to favor the GOP, but there remains a lot of ground to cover before Election Day. And we would do well to remember that measures taken to prevent illegal immigrants from voting have been of mixed success. Let’s hope the trend toward assuring electoral integrity continues, and increases.

    2. Not saying it’s what I want,
      but the powers that be
are going to have Harris ‘win’.

    3. Excellent post Upstate!

From “Hope and Change” to “Joy.” The fact this cackling idiot has anyone supporting her is clear evidence that this quote is alive and well among the Democratic party:

We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false. William J. Casey, CIA Director

  12. “ The media does not appear at all alarmed or critical of the effort to limit democratic choice. The Washington Post stated clinically “Democrats are taking third-party threats seriously this time.” Taking it seriously appears to mean using legal means to keep them from the ballots.”

Well…they ARE legal means. Republicans do this all the time. Disqualifying voters or candidates because of technical errors or omissions. Strangely Turley never mentions this when Republicans engage in the same tactics.

“ It is true that the main political parties have challenged qualification signatures and paperwork in the past. Translation; it is true that Republicans have challenged qualification signatures and paperwork in the past. What he doesn’t say is that they still do it. Funny how Turley seems to focus only on one party but sort of non-mention the other.

    1. Both parties have challenged third party spoilers in the past. The Trump campaign hasn’t been challenging 3rd party candidates this cycle.

    2. Only one is endlessly claiming they have the high ground on “protecting democracy”.

      1. What, election integrity is not protecting democracy? Republicans are all about protecting the integrity of elections. They make sure everything is legal and correct including every single technical detail. Don’t republicans care about democracy?

        1. Yea, we know you hate those pesky Republicans wanting the signature on the mail in ballot to not be an obvious forgery.

          Bwahahahahahahahaha

    3. George Svelaz

Why don’t you hand the phone back to your mommy, go on to school, finish your eductaion, and when you grow up, maybe you can succeed at something and start your own blog, where YOU can choose what to talk about? In the meantime, you’re just whining and complaining about that which you cannot control.

      1. Anonymous, that’s odd. You whine and complain every time I post. Are you sure you’re not projecting YOUR problem onto others? It seems like you are.

Besides, my post is inline with the subject of the column. Just pointing out a flaw in professor’s argument. What did you provide besides your whiny post?

        1. George: What motivates you to come here several times a day, at all hours, in an attempt to discredit Professor Turley?
Your intense fixation and obsession, and I do mean intense, invites not just curiosity, but also warrants skepticism.

          1. Lin, free speech. Perhaps you’ve heard about it. Other posters come here every single day posting gripes and opinions about the issue and other posters, you’re no exception. Others engage in bashing democrats and whatever word of the day they have for them purely for the heck of it because they can and that’s perfectly fine.

So what if I offer an alternative view or criticism of the professor’s views or opinions. There’s always a flaw or disingenuous claim made by the professor. This is a free speech forum according to the professor. I find it strange that others don’t seem to really grasp that concept. If others don’t like my posts or find offense in them they can counter with….more speech….or ignore my posts. Crazy huh?

Many say they ignore my posts, but in reality they don’t. Some choose to respond, others don’t. That’s the way it should be. Right?

When the professor posts a column or article expressing his views or positions he’s fair game for criticism or rebuttal. I’m sure you agree with that assertion. Others are free to criticize and insult my posts or opinions and I have no problem with that. I get that it’s part of free speech, but it seems most here don’t get it which is quite ironic. Speaking of skepticism Turley’s claims also warrant a healthy dose of skepticism.

            1. ‘George’,
How many other sites do you go to regularly to ‘spread your truths’?
With an incredible super power like yours, you could be ‘helping’ so many others!
No one here disputes your right to ‘free speech’. Even though you’re paid to be here.

              1. I don’t get paid to be here. Perhaps you do.

You seem to be bothered by the fact that others can post opinions and critiques on here opposite yours or Turley’s. Geez, free speech must be so annoying.

                1. “critique.” HUmmmm. Where have we just heard that word before, was it yesterday?

              1. Lin, that’s it? I’m kind of disappointed. I always look forward to your witty retorts.

            2. “If others don’t like my posts or find offense in them they can counter with….more speech….or ignore my posts. Crazy huh?”

Or we can ridicule your stupid ass. Free speech.

              1. Oh, look at that. Anonymous finally figured something out without reading comprehension problems. Atta boy.

            1. I didn’t. I just read the first sentence, started laughing, and quickly responded.
(It was much more fun having a word war with you the other day, thanks for the fun!)

              1. Lin,
Yeah, that is like seeing the beginning of one of Dennis or Gigi’s comments. See the first line, roll of the eyes and then scroll past.
                LOL! It was indeed!

            2. Upstate, do you only read the comments here
              that support your ‘confirmation bias’?
Isn’t that what you accuse the Dems of doing?

          1. That’s not Svelaz. This Svelaz individual sure had a lot of you obsessed with his/her posts.

  13. Without knowing the specifics of the Democrats complaint, my presumption is that West should be allowed on the ballot. I could take Turley seriously if he evre wrote about what Republicans are doing like in the Election Boards in Georgia. His partisan complaints ring hollow.

    1. Are you always this nonsensical? Do you even have the actual facts at your disposal? Or as seems obvious, are you merely a zealous Democrat shill?

      1. @Anonymous

The answer is yes, he always is. A total troll, just pops up whenever convenient. Has been doing so for a good while. Never says anything salient or not cut-pasted, and I honestly don’t know if the dude is a dude or even black in real life. He/they/whatever are not remotely new and always bring the same regurgitation. I’ll give them props for actually having a screen name, the rest? Pfft.

    2. Tyranny of the minority. Of course Bro West should be on the ballot. .. despite ‘Fox contributor’ Turley once being his ‘law review’ editor.

Republicans, only days after JFK Jr. endorsement on speech grounds, and the Trump monkey Apostle (in a stream of speaking in-tongues consciousness.), addressed America’s most burning issue: flag-burning.

*of course, all politicians who flagrantly wear flag pins should get 1 year in jail .. . for false advertising.

    3. What the Republicans are doing in Georgia. Could you be more specific. Seems like the corrupt Democrats in Georgia are afraid of investigations.

    4. Enigma, professor West has a right to be heard and a right to run for office. Whether he wins or not should be left up to the electorate.

  14. Remember the Democrats/Biden/Harris/Schumer Pelosi/Obama etc are all about Saving Democracy? as long as they are in charge and control everything?

  15. Professor Turley, I really appreciate your dedication in releasing columns so quickly responsive to current issues, however I do wish more care could be taken to proofread the text. The attention to detail would reflect the level of careful attention you so evidently give to your content.

Autocorrect is fraught with error- see paragraph 2, *citings = citizens? Ordinarily, one can easily discern the correct word, but not always.

    1. Really? You get loads of free, excellent content and you are concerned about a few typos?

      1. Former high school teacher. I’ll bet. They can’t stop themselves. As we know from their ped*phile predelctions.

        1. I also am saddened to see us accept such lower standards in our speech as well.

Why would you degrade yourself with such a gross assumption?

Did you not have a grandmother who corrected your grammatical mistakes and courtesy lapses in an effort to make you a more successful person, all because she loved you?

I thank God I did- and a great many teachers too, thank God, though I was never one, except as a mama and granny.

      2. Turley is a distinguished professor. He should expect his students to provide essays with correct grammar and spelling. Why would he get a free pass? It cheapens his credibility when he posts columns rife with typos and elementary grammatical errors.

        1. -from the critic who just minutes ago justified his posts as “inline with” the subject.

      3. Not terribly, but it’s so common here and elsewhere, I hate to see us relax our standards in our work products. You don’t ?

        1. These articles seem to be written by protégés in Professor Turley’s studio. I’m certain the professor thinks in complete sentences and correct punctuation.

    2. “I really appreciate your dedication in releasing columns so quickly responsive to current issues, however I do wish more care could be taken to proofread the text.”

You first: Write that as a sentence that is *not* a run-on. And use the proper punctuation after “However.”

“Autocorrect is fraught with error . . .”

If your autocorrect program is “fraught with error,” perhaps you should use a different one.

Why is it that those ungrateful scolds always shoot themselves in the foot?

      1. Thank you for the tips. As I mentioned, I am not above taking constructive corrections.

        1) I should have written, “… issues. However, …”
        2) I try not to depend solely autocorrect without checking I believe this is the correct use of the word and the correct spelling. What correction do you suggest?

        “fraught:
        adjective
        1. their world is fraught with danger: full of, filled with, rife with; attended by, accompanied by.”

  16. Surprised much?

Human Rights Campaign president Kelley Robinson urged people to “reimagine” freedom and democracy beyond the Founders’ “little piece of paper” at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) last week.
