“We’re Not Going to Allow Them to Steal it”: Raskin Repeats Trump-Like Reservation on Accepting Election Results

On Bill Maher’s HBO Show on Friday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) appeared to repeat his reservation about accepting a Trump win in the presidential election. Raskin said that Democrats will only support a “free and fair election.” Trump was widely criticized for the same position when he said “If everything’s honest, I’ll gladly accept the results.”

Raskin previously said that he would not guarantee certifying Trump and that, if he wins, he may be declared as disqualified by Congress: “It’s going to be up to us on January 6th, 2025 to tell the rampaging Trump mobs that he’s disqualified. And then we need bodyguards for everybody and civil war conditions.”

Raskin went on HBO to repeat his reservation on accepting the results of any Trump victory:

“When I say we will support a free and fair election, no, we we’re not going to allow them to steal it in the states, or steal it in the Department of Justice or steal it with any other election official in the country.

If it’s a free and fair election, we will do what we’ve always done. We will honor it.”

Remarkably, as the audience applauded Raskin, Maher added “That is the Democrats’ history: They honor it. That’s the big difference between the parties.”

However, that is not the history and Raskin knows it.

The certification of President George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election was opposed by Democrats and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) praised the effort of then-Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) who organized the challenge.

Jan. 6 committee head Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) voted to challenge it in the House.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) sought to block certification of the 2016 election result.

Raskin also insisted on CNN that the effort to prevent citizens from voting for Trump is the very embodiment of democracy: “If you think about it, of all of the forms of disqualification that we have, the one that disqualifies people for engaging in insurrection is the most democratic because it’s the one where people choose themselves to be disqualified.”

Democrats not only sought to strip Trump from the ballot this election, but sought to cleanse ballots of 126 House members.

We are already seeing an ominous uptick of challenges, which I discuss in my column this weekend. There are also new allegations of systemic fraudulent registrations in multiple districts.

Raskin presumably expects any voters to protest “peacefully” if they are declared the losers.

I am leaving for New York today to join in the coverage. This could prove a long night, if not a long week.

  1. Election prediction markets tilted heavily towards Vice President Kamala Harris overnight after a bombshell poll released Saturday showed her ahead of former President Donald Trump in Iowa.

A Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll found the Democratic nominee three points up on her GOP opponent, 47% to 44%, among likely voters.

The survey was conducted by the highly regarded pollster Ann Selzer, who has a long track record of producing results that uncannily mirror final election tallies.

Nate Silver says, “I wouldn’t play poker against Ann Selzer”.

    1. * The pole simply indicates the number of Criminals v. Noncriminals and nothing else. Just look up number of registered Democrats and Republicans. Same thing. Crimes include extreme envy. Trump is merely envied for being a white rich man. Nothing else.

      1. Trump is envied by his base for being a white rich man who can touch a woman’s vagina when he wants to.

    2. I think it was several months ago now that I predicted trump would lose huuuuuugely. I stand by that prediction.

    3. Trump is still up 10pts in prediction markets.

There are LOTS of pollsters with very good records. Just about every single one of those is predicting – a Trump victory and one that is not likely to be close.

No one else is polling Iowa as you claim..

I have no idea what Selzer’s reputation is.
I like Nate and think of those reporting on polling from the left he is the most trustworthy.

But Nate has still been about +2 for democrats pretty much forever.

Regardless, the election is Tuesday – we will all get to find out then.
Or Wednesday, or a week from Wednesday. or if Raskin has his way on Jan 6.

      1. * John Say, what prevents VP Vance from being seated under Raskin’s scenario.

        1. Absolutely nothing.

I have ZERO opposition to democrats challenging the 2024 election.

I have ZERO opposition to Raskin raising a 14th amendment challenge in congress

I have ZERO opposition to democrats challenging the certification of the 2024 election in congress on J6.

I do not expect any of those to succeed, but each and every one is a legal and/or constitutional right.

If there is a narrow Trump victory I hope that Democrats challenge it, and I hope that we have a national converstation regarding our elections.

Which today are worse than banana republics.

    4. Iowa Poll Data
Poll Dates Trump (R) Harris (D) spread
      Emerson 11/1 – 11/2 800 LV 3.4 53 43 Trump +10
      DMR 10/28 – 10/31 808 LV 3.4 44 47 Harris +3

      2016 Final Trump +10
      2020 Final Trump +8

You are free to beleive the SMR is correct – and there is an incredibly tiny possibility you are right.

  2. The Raskin interview by Bill Maher was not even conversational. Raskin just monopolized with talking points and filibustering. Bill Maher could have done more to cut through the partisan bs posturing. It wasn’t his usual form.

  3. Am I understanding it correctly that both of the major opposing parties are now concerned about elections not being fair and honest? If so, isn’t it time for their leaderships to come to terms with that reality and do something about it for the greater good of all those whom they pretend to serve? Perhaps it might begin with an agreement that a citizen’s vote should never be negated by a non-citizen’s vote. What say you, Jamie Raskin?

  4. Raskin is just like his pro Soviet leftist father. He is a disgusting leftist and I would not shed a tear if he had another bout with cancer. He is an evil anti-American totalitarian thug. He should do the the world a favor and follow his son’s footsteps and eliminate his carbon footprint

    1. Alank, why make it about the person? Can’t you separate tired-old ideas (socialism) as the thing to be criticized?
When I was in business 30 years ago, it was widely practiced to debate ideas vigorously without disparaging the person voicing them. What the H happened to that culture of American goodwill? You’ll never bring it back wishing cancer on somebody you have a good rational basis to disagree with. Is civility too much to ask?

      1. pbinca, doing the false flag routine again: Alank, why make it about the person? Can’t you separate tired-old ideas (socialism) as the thing to be criticized?

pbinca: Please, please tell readers here and the rest of the world your rational for why normal Americans should NOT wary to the point of frightened by your Democrat party’s Marxism and socialism?

“Redistributing the wealth” by way of a president’s phone and pen. The rampant communism-lit of Bernie The Commie and Another Odd Communist with their “Green New Deal”. The “civil war reparations” paid by taxpayers to identity politics voters.

The communist greed and envy of Obama, Biden, and Harris with: “The Rich Don’t Pay Their Fair Share”.

(should we be suspicious not one of those communists will tell Americans what percentage of income taxes collected is from The Evil Rich? Just as not one of those Democrat communists will tell Americans what their percentage should be instead?)

What the H happened to that culture of American goodwill? . Is civility too much to ask?

You’re crying for civility, pbinca? Before or after Bolshevik Barack went from his campaign promise to be president for all Americans – to the Bolshevik Barack telling Americans and the world that America was systemically racist?

Bolshevik Barack and now Harris telling Americans That Critical Racist Black Theory was correct in pronouncing all white Americans that they were born racists. While black Americans were born victims of racism. A teachable moment from Bolshevik Barack delivered in a civil tone, of course!

Bolshevik Barack and his sidekick Bribery Biden telling Americans and the world that people who opposed him in areas of America were “bitter clingers to their bibles and their guns”?

That’s the civility that you’re weeping for now, pbinca? You think you can be taken seriously?

You’re well over a decade late at faking a plea for civility, you false flag Kalifornia Democrat. At least Dennis McIntyre doesn’t attempt to pretend that he’s something that he clearly is not.

        1. Tampon Tim was roundly criticized for stealing valor.

Lil Bow Wow won’t publish his Airborne MOS, AWARDS, THEATER, or CAMPAIGN.

          Why?

          1. Why would he tell an Airsoft Commando who won’t even give examples to accompany his insinuations? Or start out by publishing his own Airsoft Commando record?

Can an Airsoft Commando Elite Sniper steal valor?

        2. * Explain how VP Vance would not be seated?

Approximately 180 million registered 45 mill demo 36 mill repubs. Approx 45 million independent. Trump has an uphill climb? Yes or no?

          1. How old are those numbers ? R’s have been gaining on D’s in registration for the past decade.
Many states are Net declining in Registered D’s.

          2. If Trump/Vance win the election and Raskin successfully gets Trump removed using the 14th amendment – Vance becomes president.
            That is how it works.

If Trump wins the election and you want Harris to become President you have to do what Trump tried in 2020.
You have to get congress to throughout the electors from some states Trump won, -= but that is NOT enough.
Harris still needs 270 to win. That means that Harris must put forward slated of electors from states that congress refused to certify, and get congress to accept those alternate slates of electors.

All this nonsense about Trump fake electors has been BS from the start. There are TWO ways to get congress to alter the outcome of an election.
The first is challenge specific states and get cogress to certify the alternate electors in that state until you reach 270.
If Congress does not certify the results of some combination of electoral colleges slates and votes reaching 270, then the election gets kicked to congress.
As I understand each state gets ONE vote, and the majority wins. Each states representatives and senators get one vote within the state.
So states like Alaska and Montana with one rep and 2 senators, are decided by whoever gets 2 votes.
While states like California or Texas with two senators and lots of reps are fundimentally determined by the vote of that states representatives.
Regardless if a candidate gets 25 votes and no other candidate gets 25 – they become president.

Something close to that happened to elect Jefferson, but as the constitution was written at the time Jefferson ended up competing against his own VP for President.
And it took 76 ballots for Jefferson to get a majority. The constitution was subsequently amendment to eliminate presidential candidates competing against their own VPs.

Now the odds of any of this are incredibly low. In 46 presidential elections we have only had Congress fail to certify the initial results twice – but that is still almost 5% of the time.

        3. I used to be civil. But be civil with totalitarian thugs like Raskin is futile. He is of the ilk that would imprison his opponents without hesitation

      2. Freedom is chaotic – it includes the vigorous oxford type debates you discuss and people shouting each other down in the streets.

30 years ago my Grandfather was alive and holiday dinners were very tense and prone to degenerate into shouting matches over politics.

The Adams Jefferson contest at our inception was more vitriolic than today.

Even Turley notes that Adam’s – though in many ways still great, was the most censorious president in US history – until now.

Is civility too much to ask ? if it comes at the expense of freedom then yes,

A free society is chaotic. That is the nature of freedom. Freedom to succeed greatly comes at the cost of freedom to be stupidly wrong, to fail significantly.

        1. * Everyone knows politics and religion aren’t discussed at dinner or on holidays.

        2. “Is civility too much to ask ? if it comes at the expense of freedom then yes,”

I had to repeat what John said because it is very pertinent to the debates on this blog. The left has not been nice. It cheats, lies and censors. One cannot be civil to people who act that way.

            1. After being slapped on the right cheek and then the left, how many more cheeks does one have to turn? That was the advice from Biden over and over again but as the Israeli’s learned one slap on the cheek or two might be a mistake, but after that it was intention. That is when one quotes Trump, “fight, fight, fight.”

      3. It would be easy to quit fighting socialism if it did not keep popping up in new variants and threatening the world.

It is amazing that such a horrifically failed idea, keeps coming back over and over in slightly different form.

Get over it – it does not work.
It nearly always leads to copious bloodshed.

The reasons it does not work are actually obvious – it requires people to be the best people they can possibly be to workm while incentivizing them to be the worst they can possibly be.

    2. Raskin may be a disgusting leftist, but hordes of Republican starting with Trump all the way down to Kari Lake are disgusting fascists.

  5. So Turley points out legal challenges are suspect? Funny how he never questioned Trump’s other “challenges” after exhausting all legal means in the last election. He turned to illegal means by scheming to provide fake electors using forged documents and inciting his supporters to riot and threaten his own VP if he didn’t do what he could not do constitutionally.

Turley is disengaged from reality to enable Trump’s false claims. That’s why he has lost the respect of his colleagues. He’s become the equivalent of a WWF promoter instead of a serious scholar.

    1. Typical for a low brow partisan comment. Combine poor history with implication and finalize the action with ad hominem attack. Impressive(?).

    2. George’s first Daily Deuce Dump: So Turley points out legal challenges are suspect?

No, Curious George, what you posted is called A Lie Of Insinuation by normal Americans.

The truth: Professor Turley pointed out your party’s LONG record of legal challenges and objections to electoral results that goes back to long before Trump entered politics.

Long before Trump winning the election resulted in Democrats holding The 2016/2017 Mostly Peaceful Inauguration Insurrection Rioting and the legal challenges.

A reminder to Democrats like Jamie Raskin and you, Curious George:

CNN Nov. 10, 2016:Anti-Trump protesters march for 3rd night; Portland police call it a ‘riot’
After three days of intense violence, Portland police declared a riot on November 10, 2016. Anti-Trump thugs attacked police, vandalized business, and set buildings on fire.

New York Times Nov. 13, 2016: Scenes From Five Days of Anti-Trump Protests And Riots Across a Divided Nation
Thousands of people have turned out to protest in at least 52 cities across the United States in the days since Donald J. Trump was elected president.

Curious George, did you and the equally dishonest Jamie Raskin notice there wasn’t a red MAGA hat to be seen among the street thugs rioting, looting, and burning?

Did you notice these are all heavily pro Democrat large cities run by thug Democrats like Jamie Raskin?

Or did you notice but preferred to Lie By Insinuation yet again?

    3. what an ugly little twit, increasingly hostile in his comments as others criticize his own lack of comprehension.

    4. Where turley “point out legal challenges are suspect” ?

What Turley is pointing out is that Democrats are hypocrites.

That Trump’s challenges to the election are treated by those on the left as criminal.
But their own long history of election challenges – including the ones certain to follow a Trump victory on Tuesday are all just democracy.

      I expect Trump to win.

Unless it is a landslide – and there is a small possibility of that.
I expect vigorous challenges by democrats.

I actually hope those are taken seriously and that unlike Trump democrats get their day in court.

I hope that this election results in real efforts to make our elections trustworthy.

We have spent the past 2 decades making our elections as untrustworthy as possible.

I welcome democrats to skepticism over the way our elections are conducted.

If Raskin wishes to challenge Trump’s certification on January 6 2025 – I welcome him doing so.

And I expect nearly everyone arrested for J6 2021, to be pardoned, and to receive compensation from the federal govenrment for having their constitutional rights abridged.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with challenging an election.

But this is typical of those of you on the left.

You set rules and standards, but they only apply to those you hate.

  6. The ONLY thing that Democratic leaders such as Jamie Raskin cherish is the lack of memory by their base. And Democrats cherish lack of memory to the extent they even jump-start public school attendees with a remarkably crappy education. And why?
    -No memory then no wisdom.
    -No memory then no prudence.
-No memory then no ability to discern facts from fiction.
-No memory and history become irrelevant (coincidence that Marx had his view regarding the significance of history?).
Need proof? Refresh yourself with the government debacle that was the COVID response.

Given Jamie Raskin’s history, using his name in the same sentence as “honor” does nothing more than serves as a testament to the lack of memory of those not aware of his activities in 2016, impeachments without hearings and the J6 Committee. His actions were not concerned with honor, his actions were concerned raw political power and the weaponization of government against citizens.

    1. No memory and history become irrelevant (coincidence that Marx had his view regarding the significance of history?)

That concept is made explicit in Kamala’s beloved phrase “what can be, unburdened by what has been.”

It is a Marxist concept, as reflected by the tendency of socialist revolutionary governments requiring their country to start back at year 0 (the French Revolution and the Khmer Rouge come to mind).

      1. @Ex Dem @Oldman

Yes, and yes! They are no longer even keeping it in the shadows, and it is insulting in the extreme they want to memory hole events from less than five years ago. Just the hubris alone is telling, it’s all a big, fat, ‘No!’ In response. They can go to *bleep*.

Honestly: to illustrate a point, though I doubt it would happen because secrecy is so useful for multitudes of reasons, I would not be surprised if they started openly presenting the cabal actually running things. And they would act as though it were perfectly normal, always been that way, and we peasants would be welcome to shut up and accept it.

Tin foil hat me thinks that is where four more years of American dems would lead us: a dismantling of our charters, and a panel of the unelected/privileged that can never be ejected through law. IOW, a real, honest to goodness banana republic or Soviet bloc.

Camacho/Kamala – coincidence? No, self-fulfilling prophecy if we don’t course correct.

  7. One of the hardest things in a trial is knowing when to rest your case and sit down. Then it’s time to tell the jurors their vote matters. We are all casting our votes for the government we’d like to have. We The People. This would be a good time for both parties to express faith in our constitutional process, and simply say if issues arise the process will treat with them, as it always has. It’s all about our vote. It’s a vote for what each of us thinks is right. It’s not about what any politician says is right.

    1. * In the 2020 election the electoral votes were counted. The problem came in by false votes of the populace certified by the various States without check. Same will happen again. It’s not possible to have elections anymore. That’s a dead system.

      1. Will the same thing happen again – with near certainty.

But not to the scale it did in 2020.
Not likely half the scale it did in 2020.

Republicans have near parity – in some cases have cast even more votes that democrats in early voting.
Democrat early voting is down about 30% from 2020.
Republican early voting is up by a factor of 10.

Polling indicates that despite the large number of republican early votes – only 9% of those are people who voted on election day in 2020.
So Trump is likely to get 90% plus of the votes he got in 2020 on Tuesday.

Conversely we do not know if the low number of democrat early voting is because democrats are despondent or the claims about democrat enthusiasm are false,
or that for unknown reasons democrats have chosen to vote on election day.

Regardless, the reduced number of Democrat early votes means that unless early voting republicans go massively for Harris which is highly unlikely,
That Democrats can not manufactue an extra 800K votes through ballot harvesting.

Put differently most of the balot harvesting for 2024 is already done – and it is unlikely to be enough to tip the election.

If Trump is even close to the lead he had at 9pm on election day 2020, there is no possibility of Harris catching up.

    2. “We are all casting our votes for the government we’d like to have.”

Sorry, but incorrect. I’m casting my vote for the government that is guaranteed me by the Constitution.

  8. Jonathan: Yes, there have always been LEGAL challenges to election results from both sides. But it was ONLY DJT who tried to overturn a legitimate election through a violent insurrection. You will never see the Dems engage in that.

This year the challenges to how elections are conducted are coming from the DJT campaign and his GOP supporters in several swing states. They are already claiming “election fraud”, trying to to purge Democratic voters from the voting rolls, and even burning voter drop-off boxes. Elon Musk is spending millions to support DJT–refusing to submit registrations in swing states for those who thought will vote Democratic and even illegally bribing voters to vote for DJT. Neither Jamie Raskin nor any other Dem has engaged in this kind of illegal activity.

One thing is certain. DJT has made in plain he will not accept the results of this election if he loses. He has hundreds of lawyers who will once again file legal challenges to the election results. If he loses all these legal challenges what will happen? I doubt we will see another violent attack on the Capitol. That’s because DJT has been out of office for 4 years and it’s unlikely he could muster enough of his MAGA supporters to attack the Capitol this time. Many of them are now in prison and a new crop will not want to face arrest and prosecution.

But DJT does have a “secret plan”. He has already discussed it with MAGA House Speaker Mike Johnson. It involves Johnson’s refusal to recognize the legitimate electors and get the House to vote only for fake DJT electors. No doubt Jamie Raskin and the Dems will challenge these illegal efforts–in the courts but not in the streets!

So you are leaving for NY to “join in the coverage” of the election. Will you be on MSNBC, CBS, CNN or any other mainstream media? Probably not. You will appear on Fox–the outlet that first called the election for Joe Biden in 2020. That caused a huge backlash by DJT voters. Will it be deja vous all over again? We can’t wait to see how you call the election!

    1. Dennis McIntyre wrote, “it was ONLY DJT who tried to overturn a legitimate election through a violent insurrection. You will never see the Dems engage in that.”

      You sir are a LIAR!!!

I’m not, and never have been, a Trump supporter and I know for a fact that President Trump did nothing of the sort.

Dennis McIntyre wrote, “You will never see the Dems engage in that.”

That’s quite a prediction after Democrats physically rioted and burned cities across the USA simply because they were collectively upset about something.

      You’re reasoning skills are moronic.

      1. Witherspoon, your reasoning is bad. Are you comparing protests against police brutality with insurrection? Hilarious. You’re way too emotional to think rationally.

        1. Curious George dropped one of his Daily Deuces: Witherspoon, your reasoning is bad. Are you comparing protests against police brutality with insurrection?

George, your lying has about as much convincing weight as what you have for a soul. You hope you can make the 2016 Election Insurrection of Mostly Peaceful Rioting Looting and Burning about “police brutality and insurrection”? You hope normal Americans will get sucked into the Democrat Memory Hole and forget all the days of rioting, looting, and pillaging across America in the days after Trump was declared the winner of that election and Clinton the loser?

You hope normal Americans will forget the Obama/Clinton/Biden street thugs in Black Liars & Marxists and Antifa rioting and raging their way through Washington DC on Trump’s inauguration day?

And those “protests” against police brutality and insurrection? Are you talking about the rioting, looting, pillaging and burning that started under Obama – when Black Liars & Marxists started their trademark violence with the lie that an equally violent thug, Michael Brown, was supposedly murdered by a police officer while on his knees with his hands up, pleading for his life saying “Please don’t shoot”?

You’re a pathetic example of a Democrat liar George, not much better than Bribery Biden, who’s given the nuclear football to The Crackhead Kid to offer to the highest bidder.

          1. Old dog, you’re just as emotionally triggered as Witherspoon. Denial is handy in your world, isn’t it? Trump incited his supporters to riot and didn’t bother to stop it.

            1. Now I get it, you ARE a progressive internet troll that’s psychologically projecting your own personal character failures upon those you disagree with. Your comments reflect your character, or lack thereof, not the ones you’re falsely attacking. Yu add nothing intelligent to the conversation and integrity means nothing to people like you. Pull this kind of absurd nonsense on my blog and you’ll be banned in a heartbeat.

            2. Old dog, you’re just as emotionally triggered as Witherspoon.

Curious George, the comic book monkey your tragically inept parents named you after is more credible and mentally stable than you are. Watching you try to find a lucid rebuttal is like watching you try to find a Tootsie Roll in a septic tank.

To better understand your psychological problems, ask yourself why you keep coming here, day after day, to drop your Daily Deuces knowing they will be met with derision, mocking, contempt and jeers. You do it because you have a Jesus complex?

You do it because you’re a masochist that gets off on being kicked around every time you show up?

Do you think that despite the contempt you’re held in here, if you just keep lying often and openly enough, you could be in the running to replace Cringe Jean-Pierre, the White House Spokesliar in Chief?

Curious George, if stupidity were an Olympic sport, you’d be a gold medal winner and they’d be testing you for steroids.

        2. Protests are protest,
Demanding defunding of police is no different from demanding that congress refuse to certify an election.

Actual insurrections involve an armed attempt to overthrow the government.
The american revolution was an insurrection.
January 6th was a protest that those of you on the left did not like.

The left beleives they have the exclusive right to protests and will do anything to preserve that monopoly.

There was less violence on J6 than a typical night at the portland federal courthouse in 2020.

J6 was no different from the defund the police protests – except that it was LESS destructive, LESS violent – by many orders of magnitude.

        3. George

          Government is FORCE.

The police do not enforce laws with butterflys and rainbows.
We try to have strict rules of conduct for policing because it is the use of FORCE
If FORCE is not necescary – then there is no need for Police.

Where there is crime – there will be police.
That is literally the social contract, the reason for the existence of government.
If you do not want police – you get anarchy – and that is inherently an insurrection.

There is a huge difference – between I want the anarchy that will result from defundning the police,
and I do not want an election that was lawlessly and likely fraudulently conducted to be certified by congress.

The former is far closer to insurection than the later.

Violent protests every night, efforts to burn down a federal courthouse, to blind law enforcement,
even protestors murdring counterprotestors – thouse are an actual insurection against the govenrment and they occured
in Portland everynight for 100 days.

Molotov cocktails in occupied police cars – that is insurection.

Attacking the WhiteHouse nearly destroying a 20ft high fence and threatening to overrun the WhiteHouse,
injuring over 100 SS agents and Park Police – that is insurection.

        4. George wrote, “Witherspoon, your reasoning is bad. Are you comparing protests against police brutality with insurrection? Hilarious. You’re way too emotional to think rationally.”

Only an irrational progressive moron (or an internet troll) would state that my reasoning is bad because I compared two separate groups of people rioting “because they were collectively upset about something”, which happens to be an absolute verifiable fact and it doesn’t matter one bit what they were collectively upset about. Rioting no matter what their reason is ethically & morally wrong; plus, willful destruction of property and assaulting people is illegal and anyone that engages in such things should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, period!

It’s clear that you’re too blinded by your obvious progressive bias to see the common sense and reality that’s staring you in the face.

George wrote, “You’re way too emotional to think rationally.”

          Hogwash.

You’re way too irrational to not think emotionally.

        5. “Witherspoon, your reasoning is bad. Are you comparing protests against police brutality with insurrection? Hilarious. You’re way too emotional to think rationally.”

George, when that’s what you got out of his comment, obviously you are severely handicapped by what you accuse those disagreeing with you of suffering from.

George, you have incredibly poor reading comprehension.

    2. Dennis McIntyre’s First Daily Deuce: But it was ONLY DJT who tried to overturn a legitimate election through a violent insurrection. You will never see the Dems engage in that.

For Dennis, self-confession takes the form of channeling and deflecting his guilt by accusation on those he hates with the scorching heat of a thousand burning suns. Channeling by lying is all Dennis has. Let’s review the tape Dennis, while you’re running away from your Daily Dump:

Oakland North, Nov. 9, 2016: Protesters in Oakland express frustration with Trump’s electoral victory
Hundreds of protesters hurled Molotov cocktails, rocks and fireworks at police. A group of protesters wearing clown and Guy Fawkes masks used bricks, their feet and a large stick to smash the glass windows of the businesses along Broadway.

That was all before Trump’s inauguration, Dennis. The Democrat post-election riots in 2016 culminated in a a day long violent riot in the nation’s capital on January 20, 2017. Protesters tied to the Obama/Clinton Biden street thugs of Black Liars & Marxists and Antifa lit cars and businesses on fire just blocks from the inauguration proceedings. More than 200 rioters were arrested and six officers sustained injuries.

But good news Dennis! Unlike those who engaged in a three hour riot at the same time as the peaceful protest on January 6, the DOJ dropped all charges against 2017 inaugural rioters.

Facts, they hurt. Which is why you drop your deuces and then scramble away to hide out of site in your Mom’s basement until it’s time to drop your next deuce here, you parasite.

    3. Been looking through J6 video – STILL can not find thousands of people with AR15’s.
      Still Can’t find ONE.
Can’t find a single molotov cocktail,
      Can not find lasers
      Can not find fireworks.
Can not find frozen water bottles.
      Can not find bricks
      Can not find rocks
      Can not find axes
      Can not find body armour

Can not find a single thing that left wing nuts normally bring to a peaceful protest that magically turns violent.

Dennis – there was no insurrection.

Lots of people came to the capital with the intention of loudly demanding that congress do as they wanted.

exactly like every left wing protest that ever was.
      Except overall LESS violent.

    4. Democrats engage in illegal activity all the time. The J6 committee lied in its reports, refused to release excuplatory evidence, encrypted and deleted testimony that went contry to their narative. Raskin violated numerous rules of professional conduct as House impeachment manager and presented as evidence claims he KNEW were false.

Both Raskin and Cheney had aparently perjured themselves – I beleive Rasking is being refered to DOJ for prosecution.

Numerous democrats have been found in contempt of congress for refusing subpeonas – none have ever been prosecuted much less jailed.

Hillary publicly encouraged electors to change their votes – and several did.

Democrats have done ALL the things they claim Republicans did illegally – and then an order of magnitude more.

    5. “This year the challenges to how elections are conducted are coming from the DJT campaign and his GOP supporters in several swing states.”
False, there are legal contests initiated by those on both sides.

DOJ tried to stop VA from following a VA law passed by DEMOCRATS.

“They are already claiming “election fraud””
Of course – there has already been election fraud – there is always election fraud.
It is litterally the job of the government to prevent, as well as find and catch fraud.

“trying to to purge Democratic voters from the voting rolls”
So all the non-citizens that have illegally registered to vote are democrats ?
Doesn’t that pretty much undercut your democrats do nothing illegal argument ?

Both State and federal law REQUIRES removing people who have not voted in several elections,
      people who have died,
      people who do not exist
people who are not citizens from voter rolls.

Are you saying these are all democrats ?

Are you saying that anyone who has ever registered to vote must remain registered forever ?
      Even after they die ?
Even if they are not a legal voter ?
Even if they move to a different state ?

In nearly every state – if not every state, if you are eligable to vote – you are a citizen voting in the state and precinct in which you live,
and you claim you are registered but have been purged, you may vote provisionally.

Do you have an actual instance anywhere ever of someone who was legally allowed to vote being improperly removed from registration rolls ?

“and even burning voter drop-off boxes.”
In the states of Washington and Oregon – i.e. Antifa H311holes.

If Republicans burned ballot drop boxes – prosecute them.
Surely you have CCTV ? What No CCTV of an unattended Ballot Box ?
And you are complain because someone burned it ?

“Elon Musk is spending millions to support DJT–refusing to submit registrations in swing states for those who thought will vote Democratic”
We keep hearing this from you.
Democrats register democrats. This is not new.

“and even illegally bribing voters to vote for DJT.”
And exactly how is it that Muck can know how someone voted ?
It is illegal to induce or coerce someones vote.
This is why something like 38 states have secret ballot constitutional amendments.

In those states mailin voting is unconstitutional – specifically because it is possible to KNOW how a voter voted, and therefore it is possible to induce or coerce them.

Just follow the constitution in those states and it will be impossible for Musk or anyone else to do what you falsely claim he is doing.

” Neither Jamie Raskin nor any other Dem has engaged in this kind of illegal activity.”
Of course they do – and they have been my entire life.

Johnson is infamous for “finding” ballot boxes containing 80,000 additional ballots in his first senate election.
Cook Count Illinois has been famous for election fraud my entire life.

Have you never heard of Tamany hall ?

Next your going to claim Jim Crow was Republicans.

Election fraud in the US is as old as the country.
And democrats have been at the center of it through our entire history.
Though neither party has been immune to fraud.

Every year in Philly someone is convicted of feeding the same ballots through a scanner over and over and over.

    6. That is right Dennis the riots and arson in DC the bricks being thrown on J6 and on innauguration day in 2017
Those are all figments of our imagination.

    7. “DisruptJ20 is an umbrella coalition of groups with a core of local organizers who have a lot of activist experience. Washington, D.C. organizers … most of whom are anarchists. … The idea … is we want to undermine Trump’s presidency from the get-go. There has been a lot of talk of peaceful transition of power as being a core element in a democracy and we want to reject that entirely and really undermine the peaceful transition.”
Legba Carrefour, an organizer with DisruptJ20 2017

    8. Dennis Raskin is looking to do something very similar to what Trump tried – something no more or less legal or constitutional.

The law and constitution are the same for democrats and republicans.
It is very rare for congress to refuse to certify the EC vote of state certified electors.
But it has happened twice in 46 elections.
In one case the outcome was decided by votes in congress – it took 76 ballots to certify Jerfferson the winner.
In the 2nd case it was done much like Trump attempted.
Congress did not initially accept the electors from contested states.
They appointed a commission to study election fraud. and after some horse trading they picked the alternate electors needed to certify Harrison as president.

2 elections out of 46 is about 5% of the time.

  9. Raskin schmaskin, he’s been a hard-left dweeb since at least college, probably before.

    1. What is simple is your lack of education, understanding of how the electoral systems works and why the founders created and designed the system.

        1. Meh. Popular vote should win. No reason it should not.

Meh… Simple Sammy proclaims that it’s rational to convert our republic to a democracy where a handful of America’s largest cities will decide who will be the president. With the majority vote in those Democrat controlled cities, think of all the time and money that will be saved for Marxist rule!

Simple Sammy proclaims that she/he/it/they cannot think of one single reason it should not! Think of the advantages of having a mobocracy instead!

No point in campaigning in small states like Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Vermont, etc, because they don’t have enough votes to matter – just show up and spend campaign money in the major cities where the majority of voters are concentrated! Don’t even have to campaign across the entire state – the outlying areas won’t matter either!

And think of the time that will free up for voters outside of these major cities when they don’t have to waste time going to vote, support candidates, etc! They can devote that time to working to pay the income tax to run the Marxist Democrat state!

Simple Sammy is an object lesson in why voting for Harris and Biden should be thought of as playing Russian Roulette with a derringer.

          1. No one campaigns in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Vermont anyhow. One person, one vote, all count the same. Simple and fair. You think that rural people should get a stronger vote, well I think they should get less of a vote.

            1. Where in the constitution does it say one person one vote ?
Our founders wisely loathed majoritarian democracy – because it is the most authoritarian form of govenrment there is.

          2. Real Warfighters have their MOS, AWARDS, THEATER, AND CAMPAIGNS on their uniforms for all the world to see.

            1. Airsoft Commando Snipers are obsessed with military things they don’t have, even when there is nothing remotely military in the topic of the day or the responses.

        2. Just as the House is represented by segments of population so too the electoral votes should be by population within a State. A State such as calif with 53 electoral should not simply be counted for one person as president. That would or might produce a better representation.

          1. * Calif at 53 electoral votes might result in 43 for Harris and 10 for Trump. These increments can make a difference and reflect the population. Some States actually do that. It’s possible in all States.

          2. Anonymous – there is no such thing as a better system.

There are only ways that some people prefer.

I you want your prefered system – change the constitution.

        3. It shoudl not because that is not what the constitution says.
Because that is not how any of the 46 presidential elections conducted to date have been done.

I would note it is also not have the Republicans or democrats nominate their candidate.

Harris did not with the democratic primary popular vote.
She did not win a single vote.
She was not on the ballot
But she won the vote of the majority of delegates – like electors, when Biden dropped out.

    2. That is unfair to every small population state; ie, every state other than New York and California. Please find the US History book you didn’t bother to read in high school and read it. Or perhaps you need to have someone who is literate read it to you. That person should use small, simple words to paraphrase the ones above the sixth grade level so that you can understand it.

      1. EC is unfair to everyone who lives in a non-small or non-swing state. Everyone’s vote should count the same. What is more right than that?

        1. Study this real hard, comrade, they are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, of which there are now 50.

The States “united” based on and because of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, including the election process and the electoral college.

When you destroy their Constitution, you destroy the United States.

That is your goal – the destruction of this once-free country and the global communist collectivization of the the United States of America and all other countries.

Your objective is one consolidated communist world.

        2. There is no such thing as “unfair”
There is no such thing as should.
There is no such thing as right.

You are asking a political question – not a moral one.
You have a preference. Fine – persuade people to change the constitution.

    3. Mob rule

Bannon is calling for full and open participation in open disclosure of the 2020 election when Trump wins…again. Treason is punishable by death, should it be shown beyond question of the Democrats stealing an election, there will be justice served. If not, then Trump is the clown the left paints him. My money is on Trump.

    4. @Sammy

Read a book. Then, leave the vacuum sealed chamber you live inside of and give your honestly compassionate and kind ear to 20 people you would ordinarily spit on; after that, volunteer at your local soup kitchen for a week (it’s probably in a church). Maybe then could people even *begin* to look past the puerile nature of your comments.

    5. The electoral college is a problem at California’s 52? How many electorals for your State, Sam? I think it is a problem.

  10. A long week? As always Turley is a hopeless optimist. It wouldn’t surprise me if the inauguration had to be postponed to investigate all the cheating.

    1. @Anonymous

It’s my fear, too. I hope we are both wrong. America has never dealt with the level of home-grown totalitarianism the modern left represents, and it’s going to be ugly, one way or another.

      1. James,
We were thinking of ways to passively protest against a dubious Harris win. Cancel Christmas. Dont spend a dime. Dont buy anything other than the bare necessities and then use cash. Dont dine out. Dont participate in the Biden/Harris/Walz economy. Consider taking all your money out of the bank. Cancel streaming services.

        1. @Upstate

It could work, we’ve seen it with a few companies now. It always gets the attention of the elite and greedy when the well starts drying up.

It would demand free speech be preserved wherever it still lives, though IMO. At least some of said companies would surely exploit the situation of at least half the audience no longer listening to call them out. 🤷🏽‍♂️

        2. Dont spend a dime. Dont buy anything other than the bare necessities and then use cash. Dont dine out. Dont participate in the Biden/Harris/Walz economy. Consider taking all your money out of the bank. Cancel streaming services.

I never expected you to convert to Catholicism due to my posts, but you going full Amish is more than I would have guessed. How are you at moving barns?

      2. “America has never dealt with the level of home-grown totalitarianism the modern left represents, and it’s going to be ugly, one way or another.”

Got extra ammo? I do. I would be very happy to only need it for the range, post-election, but I’m not very confident about that.

  11. “Ominous” being the keyword here. As in “foreboding” (we all feel it), as in “portends,” we all recall Hillary’s allusions to Russia, Russia, Russia! during her 2016 campaign. And we have all since learned what evil truly lurks in the minds of men. Dishonest, unscrupulous, and devious… should we add “demented”? Me thinks so, thanks to the likes of those like Jamie Raskin. What Turley truly fears is destruction of the American Way, everything from politics to law, to, ultimately its very social and economic stability. And all to benefit the corrupt (Democrat) few?

  12. No doubt the MSM will immediately denounce Raskin and Maher for casting doubt on our sacred election process. No doubt Jack Smith will threaten prosecution with Raskin. No doubt the Democratic caucus in the House will sanction Raskin for hurting “our democracy”. These actions will occur very soon.

  13. Democrat officials in Georgia are playing fast and loose with election law.

Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb, and Gwinnett counties decided at the last minute to accept ballots over the weekend — which disregards the law. They have also failed to let our poll observers in to watch the process. The Secretary of State has issued guidance to allow Republican poll watchers in but local officials REFUSE.

Our election integrity operation has filed a lawsuit.

Georgia voters demand that the state and courts ensure that these reckless counties administer fair, transparent, and secure elections. Anything less undermines public trust.
    https://x.com/ChairmanWhatley/status/1852739675988897896

    1. Brian Kemp should immediately activate the Georgia National Guard and have units block public access to polling places on the weekend. Unfortunately, I believe that he is far too much of a coward to take effective action to secure the election.

  14. Never call the J6 committee a kangaroo court. It is an insult to kangaroos and even to courts (with the exception of D.C., New York City, and Fulton County, Ga.)
It’s what is commonly called a Star Chamber or a Drum Head. It would make George Orwell (of 1984) blush.
If you really want to go back in history then go to the Nuremberg Trials of Judges and Lawyers where the legal system of Germany was turned over to the Nazi State and used as lawfare against undesirable citizens and others such as Jews, Romani, mentally impaired (you might even be able to arrest a president here on that score), handicapped. When the rocks of that legal system ware turned over (post war) the fifth and corruption was breathtaking, especially since it had involved so much of the elite of Germany and had happened even before the major atrocities of Naziism started. So I don’t doubt what Mr Raskin says because he would be and probably already is the standard bearer for such a system.
I hope it is only a long week. I truly do. In fact I pray that it is only a week.

  15. Little Jamie Raskin is the Democrat’s Paul Revere letting everyone know what to do in case President Trump wins. Just as they did before, Democrats will block President Trump’s certification in the House. If that fails, there will be a fusillade of lawsuits after he is inaugurated to cripple his incoming administration. Sound about right Jonathan ???

    1. Speaking of Paul Revere, remember Cory Booker: “This is a Paul Revere moment: the Russians are coming!” https://www.mediaite.com/tv/cory-booker-this-is-a-paul-revere-moment-the-russians-are-coming. Hillary called herself Paula Revere on the same topic: https://www.mediaite.com/tv/the-russians-are-coming-hillary-clinton-calls-herself-paula-revere-on-russia-meddling/

Raskin, Booker and Clinton should watch that 60s comedy, The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming! A charming satire on the foibles of paranoia.

Interesting, however, that Raskin, at least to the extent Professor Turley quotes him, did not cite The Russians as the reason for another Trump victory. Maybe the exposure of Russiagate taught him something? (Probably not.)

  16. “Raskin previously said that he would not guarantee certifying Trump and that, if he wins, he may be declared as disqualified by Congress: ‘It’s going to be up to us on January 6th, 2025 to tell the rampaging Trump mobs that he’s disqualified. And then we need bodyguards for everybody and civil war conditions.'”

If Trump wins, he may be declared as disqualified by Congress.

I’ve been saying that the political left has turned into anti-Constitution totalitarians for a while now but these statements are quite blunt and in our face. Our friends in the political left have absolutely zero self-awareness and they seem to think you, the voter, are dumb as a box of rocks.

Rules, norms, truth, and facts are for people other than our keepers of all knowledge that is good and wise overseeing Democrats. Ye all shall bow to the obvious superiority of Democrats or suffer the consequences.

Frankly, I think it was nice of Raskin to come forward and publicly make absolutely sure that the entire electorate know full well that the Democrats are bonified totalitarians that have every intent to seize absolute control of the United States Government by any means necessary before we head into the polls on Tuesday morning.

Democrats should walk around polling places, at the appropriate distance of course, and display their complete lack of self-awareness by carrying signs that boldly say…

“Vote Trump If You Like, Congress Is Going To Disqualify Him If He Wins”

These bald-faced hypocritical Democrat liars claim that Trump is the danger to democracy when the Democrats have shown themselves to be the ones that are trying to undermine and violate the Constitution, start stripping you of your individual rights, and weaponize the legal system to persecute anyone that disagrees with them.

If you vote for Democrats in this election then you are voting against the Constitution.

I’ve made my decision, how about you?

    1. You might say this is Jamie Raskin’s “Mein Kampf”. I suspect it might be useful as evidence in his insurrection and sedition trial. Nothing like laying out your plans in public before you commit your crime.
I hope he does not bite anyone. We all saw where Peanut the Squirrel was summarily executed after a “reported bite”. I guess squirrels (just like humans) have no stand your grounds rights in New York State.

    2. Again, Raskin refers to Jan 6. New Congress is seated on Jan 3. If the Dems lack a majority in that new Congress, how are they going to accomplish this feat?

  17. Trump is correct when he speaks about the enemy within. The philosophy of the Democratic Party is encapsulated in one quote from John Kerry. “ We need a “truth arbiter” to define what the facts are”.
This is also the position of Harris and Biden. I offer as proof the attempt by the Biden/Harris administration to form a Department of Disinformation. The enemy of freedom is indeed within.

    1. This is one major reason the GOP must maintain control of the House. The other major reasons are the more obvious ones relating to legislation and investigations of the Dems’ corruption in the agencies, including their political weaponization.

    2. No, what we really need is for John Kerry to take his yacht out for a spin in a Hurricane.
