Democracy appears to be losing its appeal on the left. After campaigning on panic politics and predicting the imminent death of democracy, some on the left are now calling to burn the system down in light of Republicans not only taking both houses and the White House but Trump likely winning the popular vote.
Some seem to believe that what happened on November 5th is a license to become a modern version of Guy Fawkes (“Remember, remember, the 5th of November; Gunpowder, treason and plot; I see no reason; Why gunpowder treason; Should ever be forgot”).
Protesters after the election called for tearing down the system as a whole, insisting that “Trump is not an individual. He’s a figurehead of a system that’s rotten.” Even before the election, law professors and law deans called for a break from the Constitution. Those voices will likely be amplified after the massive electoral loss by Democrats.
Others are seeking to evade the results of the election to still bring Harris to power. CNN’s Bakari Sellers wants to pressure Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to resign and replace her with Harris. Former Harris aide Jamal Simmons wants Biden to resign to allow Harris to become president despite the vote of the majority.
It is an ironic twist after Democratic politicians and pundits repeated the mantra that, if we did not elect Harris, this might be our last election. After losing that election, democracy appears to be the problem. The majority of Americans voting for Trump have been called “anti-American” by Gov. Hochul. Other politicians and pundits have called them racists, misogynists, or weaklings seeking domination by strongmen and bullies.
The problem is now with young and minority voters. Trump won white women voters by eight points at 53 percent. Harris actually fell slightly in the support of women overall. Conversely, roughly 43 percent of men voted for Harris. Forty percent of women under 30 voted for Trump. Even CNN reports that Trump’s performance was the best among young people (18-29 years old) in 20 years, Black voters in 48 years, and Hispanic voters in more than 50 years.
So, it appears that it is time to move on. The call for Biden to simply do what the public did not want to do (in making Harris president) is particularly ironic. Many voters were repulsed by the Democrats simply making Harris the nominee after all the primaries were over. This was the candidate who could not garner any appreciable votes in the prior presidential primaries before being made Vice President by Biden. Now, the idea is that she would be elevated by the unilateral act of Biden.
Without a hint of self-awareness or recognition of the hypocrisy, Simmons insisted that this would “Fulfill [Biden’s] last promise — to be transitional.” Most people understood that to mean democratically transitional in opening the way for the election of new leadership. He did so after he was forced to step aside after winning every Democratic primary and tens of millions of votes.
Nevertheless, Simmons argued that “Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and doing things that the public wanna see is the time.” That would certainly be dramatic as well as anti-Democratic. Yet, Simmons explained that “this is the moment for us to change the entire perspective of how Democrats operate.”
Indeed, it would. It would confirm that the Democratic Party is an effective oligarchy, the very thing that they just campaigned against.
Sellers is more modest. He just wants Harris on the Supreme Court. At no point in history has anyone suggested that Harris was a leading legal mind. Nothing in her history suggests that she is a competent, let alone promising, candidate for the highest court.
Harris has previously suggested her support for possible radical changes on the Court, including court packing. She is also a decidedly anti-free speech figure in American politics.
None of that matters any more than the results of the election. Harris would be put on the Court not due to any specific talents or skills but because it would be “consequential.” He wrapped up by saying “let Republicans go crazy, ape, I’m even mentioning that option.”
Others are not pushing Harris but are pushing Sotomayor to resign to allow for one of the fastest confirmations in history. Under this theory, a lame duck president would muscle through a confirmation before Trump could come into power.
Of course, that ignores the possibility that you could vacate the seat and then fall short in the sharply divided Senate. That includes the possible loss of senators who might balk at such a maneuver, including outgoing Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema.
The one option that does not appear to be popular is to listen to the voters and actually return the Democratic Party back toward the center of our politics. The problem is now the voters themselves.
French Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau once famously insisted that “War is too important to be left to the generals.” The Democrats appear to be working on a new view that democracy is too important to be left to the voters.

WaPo published a guide on emigrating for psychotics who are profoundly emotional disturbed at the idea that an election did not produce the results they desired.
Did the always correct WaPoo suggest Canada to our north as a potential destination for those fleeing Trump Personal Persecution?
First, you have to qualify to have an immigration request processed. Being an American does not qualify you to immigrate, just as being Canadian doesn’t qualify them to immigrate to Canada. They will need a family member to sponsor them. The ones who are medical doctors, nurses, etc will get a pass. Not the type of doctors like Dr. Jill, however
Because Canada’s immigration laws do not admit those with criminal records or who have demonstrated support for terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah? That eliminates Whoopy Goldberg from her days of being a strung out heroin junky street whore.
Canada also requires would be immigrants to have a clean bill of health. Being a psychotic isn’t going to be considered as being healthy.
The welfare queens and kings… yep, Canada requires would be immigrants to be self-supporting or sponsors who will take financial responsibility for them.
Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be able to dump many of our Democrat cretins on the Canadians.
Meanwhile, given that Canada currently is poised to blow their Prime Minister Racist Black Face Trudeau out the door in the election a few months away and replace him with a conservative leader who is reminiscent of DeSantis and Vance, they might not like Canada after Trudeau and his minority mixed government of liberals and communists are gone.
WaPo published a guide on emigrating for psychotics who are profoundly emotional disturbed at the idea that an election did not produce the results they desired. Please show compassion and send this to a liberal you know, today. Whether you also advise them to not let the proverbial door hit them in the butt on their way out is left to your discretion.
Dreaming of a move abroad? What it takes to immigrate to 5 countries.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2024/11/11/countries-americans-move-to/
“Shortly after Donald Trump’s election, searches for “move abroad” began surging in the United States. While many Americans looked for information about how to move to Canada, others also searched further afield, Googling destinations including the United Kingdom, Ireland and New Zealand.
Oh, and unless you have a direct quote from Huckabee saying he looks forward to the Tribulation, and hopes the Jews suffer, you have no right to attribute such beliefs to him.
That you believe something terrible is going to happen, eventually, but that eventually, after all the bad things are over good times will come, doesn’t mean you want those bad things to happen.
Somewhere in a long comment about religion, there were some misstatements.
First of all, Barack 0bama has never been a Moslem. He was raised by devoted communists, and the only god he has ever believed in is himself.
Second, Schumer and Sanders are Jewish by birth, but neither of them has ever claimed to be “devout”. This is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone describe them that way. They are both completely secular. They are not adherents of the Jewish religion. They are members of the Jewish nation, because that doesn’t depend on ones beliefs. There are Jews who are atheists, Buddhists, Christians of various sorts, even Moslems. From 1985 to 2000 there were at least two Jews in the College of Cardinals; I’m not aware of any there now, but it’s not at all unlikely that there are. Schumer and Sanders are Jewish the same way they were.
Oops, that was me. I hate this commenting system. Too easy to forget to click on the envelope icon, and if you don’t then it decides you’re anonymous.
By the way, god did not create Israel.
Yes, He did. God created the Nation of Israel, in 1311 BCE.
The Nation of Israel is not the State of Israel. They are two distinct, barely related entities. The State of Israel is secular, hostile to religion, and resents the fact that there are so many religious voters that it has no choice but to give them some semblance of equal protection.
Israel was created on May 14,1948 by the United Nations.
No, it wasn’t. The United Nations played no role whatsoever in creating Israel. People who claim it did merely show their own ignorance of fundamental facts of history. Israel was created by the Declaration of Independence, and by nothing else, just like the USA. The people’s elected representatives voted to declare independence and they signed the declaration and announced it to the world.
They then fought a bitter and bloody war to avoid being slaughtered by the recently-defeated Nazis’ allies, who were keen to pick up the job where he left it. And with God’s help and open miracles, they succeeded. Not that they acknowledged that help or those miracles; but they were present anyway, for all who were not blinded by atheist dogma.
“Yes, He did. God created the Nation of Israel, in 1311 BCE.”
Milhouse, I presume one can debate the exact date of the creation of the Nation of Israel, but for my benefit, why did you choose 1311? Dates might slightly differ from different sources, but I presume your date refers to Moses receiving the Torah in 2448. Your statement on the UN is spot on and something that needs to be said.
The Exodus and the encounter at Mt Sinai happened in 1311 BCE, which on the current Jewish calendar was 2450. The number 2448 comes from Seder Olam, which used a calendar that started two years later. All dates from Seder Olam need to have two years added if you want to give them in the current calendar.
That’s why Seder Olam says the Temple was destroyed in 68 CE, when we know from the Romans’ records as well as from other sources that it was 70 CE. This is not a dispute, just the use of a calendar that’s no longer in use.
Good explanation, Milhouse. You may be more familiar than I am with such ‘differences.’ I remember Jerusalem 3,000, but according to Seder Olam, the date would be 2865 for different reasons than the question at hand.
Your other two replies placed under my name were to Gigi. The blog can be very frustrating.
“When a new president takes office, the Senate’s main job is to confirm — or oppose — people the president nominates to serve in key government roles.”
And that process never involved hearings until the mid-20th century. So your claim that the constitution requires or expects them is simply wrong.
But Trump told Republican senators who want to be majority leader that they need to step aside when he gets into office so he can unilaterally select his leaders.
No, he didn’t. He said what he meant and meant what he said, and it’s nothing like what you claim.
OMG, do you really think any of us have forgotten how the Democrats behaved eight years ago?! That was not “vetting”, it was deliberate malicious obstruction. And we have every reason to expect them to do the same again. Without the safety valve of recess appointments, which are also part of the process that the founders set up, he will be waiting months if not years for vital confirmations. He doesn’t want to do that and he has every right not to have to.
Of course he didn’t use the phrase “if necessary”. It’s obvious. If a recess doesn’t prove necessary, because the Senate gets through the nominations in a reasonable time, then there’ll be no need for a recess. And maybe the threat of one will make the Dems behave; certainly nothing else will.
And no, we do NOT have any “right to see and hear the people who will be running our government, including hearing answers to hard questions asked by the opposing party”. No such right was in the founders’ contemplation and no such right is provided by the constitution. As I wrote earlier, confirmation hearings didn’t even exist until the mid-20th century.
SIDEBAR, BUT RELEVANT
PLEASE PLEASE, PROF. TURLEY, MODERNIZE YOUR COMMENT SECTION. You have a huge following and some of those who comment are truly interesting, but the structure of the comment section (who the heck are people replying to) and allowing “anonymous” comments is way below the quality of your blog. People can use aliases, but at least we would be able to know who is commenting. Hard to know who is being called names when it’s hard to see to which comment someone is replying. And the anonymous commenters are all over the place.
Mary, I agree with you. Using anonymous as a name with a singular icon tremendously detracts from the blog and causes friction. I try to stay clear of these anonymous figures because they lack the decency this blog deserves.
Would you be willing to put it behind a paywall?
Darn good analysis of what went wrong, with Democrat Party Leader:
The Democrat Party is saying that in order to save the Democracy they will have to destroy it.
Pete Hegseth for SecDef. Wow.
What a sharp stick right in the fvcking eye of the establishment.
I hope you libturds appreciate the bloodbath you’ve earned.
Had to think about that one for a minute or two, but I’m in favor of it. We need a true outsider who can resist the insidious and pernicious influence of the defense establishment swamp critters, and Hegseth very much satisfies the “outsider” part. The remaining criterion, we will need to see about.
Too good to forget:
Dims favor democracy like foxes favor chickens.
CNN is about to experience a bloodbath.
CNN’s Existential Post-Election Season
With the election in the rearview, C.E.O. Mark Thompson will finally implement his true transformation plan at the network—including the culling of hundreds of jobs. Many of CNN’s own journalists, plenty of whom were blinded by Trump’s significant victory, have evinced similar naiveté about their own fates.
The soul-searching has obviously begun within the Democratic Party, which has been trying to restore its Obama-era mojo for many cycles, despite the fact that so much has changed about our politics in the past 15 years. CNN, in working through its own introspective journey, may come to a similar conclusion: Re-creating the past never works. Indeed, it’s hard to imagine that audiences these days would respond enthusiastically to the product that filled the airwaves during the Zucker era. Similarly, as a transformation executive, Thompson has clearly prioritized the next phase of the business over the current one. It’s going to be an awful next couple months inside the business, but perhaps it’s necessary to protect its future.

Could not happen to a more deserving bunch! I read Chrissie Wallace is going to become a podcaster. Maybe Brian Steltzer will become a spudcaster???
Kristi Noem for DHS secretary.
Great choice.
She has killed more family pets than any Haitian immigrant.
Her family pets don’t get away with chewing on the hired help whenever they feel like it like President Daddy-Daughter Inappropriate Incest Showers’ dogs get away with.
Oh… you forgot about that going on for FOUR YEARS now before you attempted that lame comment.
DHS has almost 3,000 dogs and K9 handlers.
Today, Alejandro Mayorkas reportedly placed an order for 5,000 canine bullet proof jackets and helmets.
The Haitian’s will chew right through that.
Yeah, but Mayorkas is distributing the vests to only foreign born dogs.
Los cubanos también saben bien!
Who did not go thru the legal immigration process.
A ballsy move…what difference does it make now?!
I think that what she did to her dog was unfortunate, but it was *her* dog. I think she will be effective at taking DHS in whatever direction Trump want it to go, which is the job. Furthermore, DHS might not even surive Trump’s four years. Let’s see what Noem does, and also how DHS fares in the analysis of Musk and Ramaswamy.
Trump Shouldn’t Hire Kristi Noem, Or Anyone Else, To Run DHS. He Should Abolish It

How the Democrat disappointed like costumes. Same dress and same masks; same behaviors and same thoughts. Like a cult they have become, e.g. KKK, Millerites, Branch Davidians, People’s Temple (Jones), Hamas.
You’ve cited a CNN spokesperson and a campaign staffer as your evidence to the left throwing democracy out the window. Kamala Harris gracefully conceded the very next day and Democrats as a whole have accepted the results.
It’s insulting to assume we forgot Republicans after the 2020 election who NEVER conceded and knowingly touted lies and conspiracy theories. This culminated with the President of the United States blackmailing state secretary of states to declare him the winner and inciting a mob to attack the Capitol to stop the peaceful transfer of power.
I’m sorry you’re dissatisfied with the Democrats concession and self reflection this past week but it’s ridiculous to make these comments without acknowledging how horrible the Republicans handled the previous transfer of power.
It’s insulting to assume we forgot Republicans after the 2020 election who NEVER conceded and knowingly touted lies and conspiracy theories.
It’s insulting for you to think normal Americans are stupid enough to forget your 2016/2017/2018/2019/2020 lies regarding Clinton’s “Trump-Russia Dossier”. Equally insulting and moronic to believe that we’ve forgotten that Clinton then and STILL claims now that Trump stole the election from her with help from the Russians (as she illegally paid a Russian spy to write in her “Trump-Russia Dossier”).
When do you spite filled haters FINALLY acknowledge your “Trump-Russia Dossier” was a flat out lie from the moment Clinton conceived the idea? When will you FINALLY acknowledge it was both a criminal endeavor to hire one of Putin’s spies to write it, and then work with your handmaidens in the mainstream media to turn it into the greatest conspiracy theory in American history?
Aren’t you glad Clinton and the DNC were merely fined for those FEC crimes regarding that lying “dossier”? Rather than getting the full Bragg-Trump treatment?
Is this transfer of power going to marked with Democrat wealthy donors and famous people begging electors from the states carried by Trump to vote for Harris instead? Will you be offering those electors bribes to be faithless electors this time as well?
Are you planning on having a Mostly Peaceful Inauguration Day Riotous Transfer Of Power like you carried out in Washington DC and in other Democrat cities during Trump’s first inauguration? Rioting, pillaging, looting, burning peoples’ cars, etc?
If you believe Republicans are dumb enough to have forgotten how you handled THAT transfer of power from Obama with his illegal “Trump-Russia Dossier”, lawfare, and rioting throughout Washington DC and elsewhere, you need to look in the mirror to see what a moron that insults people with lies looks like.
And this is why you cowards post as “Anonymous”.
What happennd to the 20M extra ballots for Biden in 2020 ?
The media and pollsters – even rassmussen has been telling us that Democrat voters are more motivated than in 2020.
The Harris camapign had the largest effort to knock on doors and get people out to vote EVER – by orders of magnitude.
Yet, somehow she got almost 25% LESS votes than Biden ?
Lets be clear – this was not a SMALL drop – this was a HUGE drop – tens of millions of ballots difference.
Harris made a few mistakes, she was not a perfect candidate. Trump made lots of mistakes too – no campaign is perfect.
Harris was not a good choice for many americans – outside his base Trump was not an especially attractive choice for many americans.
But Joes campaign SUCKED in comparison to Harris’s.
He pretty much never came out of the basement.
There was no energy – Trump called him “sleepy joe”.
I can accept that Joe had SLIGHT:Y more appeal to working class voters. While Joe is working class – about the same as Harris is middle class, still Joe atleast made the worling class competitive.
But you can do plusses and minuses between Joe in 2020 and Harris in 2024 and you can not explain a 16m Ballot DROP.
Of course Trump did not accept the 2020 results – THEY WERE NOT REAL!
Look at Democrat presidential vote totals in 2012, and 2016, and 2020 and 2024. You can draw a line from 2012 to 2024 that hits every election – except 2020.
Magically 20M extra ballots appear from nowhere.
What happened on Nov 5th 2024 was Trumps claims in 2020 were proven true, And True the vote was exposed as being far too conservative in their estimates of large scale ballot harvesting fraud. They claimed their geofencing/CCTV analysis established a MAX of 2M fraudulent balots in the 6 swing cities – way more than enough to tip the election, but not even close to the 20M extra Ballots Biden got.
Sorry Anonymous – Sideny Powell and Rudy Guiliani and mandy others MAY have been wrong about SOME claims with respect to election fraud.
But the fact that Harris barely managed 75% of the ballots Biden got is damning.
Absolutely she lost to Trump. But she was NOT 20 million ballots worse a candidate than Biden in 2020.
There are lots of excellent reasons Trump won – But he did NOT do any better in 2024 than he did in 2020.
You can really really stretch and explain why Harris got a few million less ballots than Biden – I think even that is hard, because honestly Joe was a really sucky candidate in 2020.
But there is no legitimate explanation for the 20M ballot anomaly in 2020 EXCEPT FRAUD.
Finally – in the REAL WORLD – there is no requirement to prove the obvious.
There is no plausible way Biden got 20M more votes than Clinton. There is no plausible way that Harris got 20M less votes than Biden.
One further point. Lets presume that you convince yourself that a one time jump by 25% in the number of ballots cast by democrats can be explained.
What you absolutely positively can not possibly do, is FORCE everyone else to accept that is NOT a gigantic red flag suggesting Fraud.
The core of all your election rants and raves about Trump in 2020, was that OBVIOUSLY the election was legitimate – and that is CLEARLY false.
What is OBVIOUS is that there were gigantic red flags.
And that Trump really new that he lost and therefore his efforts to challenge the election were somehow criminal.
That is false as a matter of law – alleged bad intent can not make an act that would be legal with good intent unlawful.
But more important it is just FALSE – The sudden spike in Biden ballots was highly suspicious and remains so today.
You MAY have to prove fraud to win in court.
But you do not have to PROVE fraud beyond a reasonable doubt to successfully challenge a highly dubious election in court.
You do not have to PROVE fraud beyond a reasonable doubt to take the perfectly legal actions Trump took to challenge the election.
You do not have to PROVE fraud beyond a reasonable doubt to honestly and legitimately beleive there was fraud.
Harris lost. Many many Democrats are soul searching to figure out why.
They did not expect this.
There was no good reason to beleive Harris would not do as well – or atleast nearly as well as Biden.
There are plenty of people here predicting Harris would win 340 Electoral college votes.
And If Harris had received 82M votes like joe did – she might have.
Even those who expected the election would be close – expected Trump to have about 80M votes and Harris to have about 80M votes.
No one expected that Trump would BARELY manage to reach his totals from 2020,
and that Harris would be 25% behind Biden.
Democrats are shocked at this. And rightly so. It is absolutely clear that they have been lied to – many many times in many ways.
But many are realizing they were lied to about how Biden won in 2020.
If Harris got 80M voters and Trump won by jumping from 75M votes in 2020 to 95M votes in 2024 – Democrats would RIGHTLY be crying FOUL.
No further evidence needed.
Here’s one to noodle on, John: If the Dems successfully cheated with massive ballot fraud in 2020 as you seem to believe, why didn’t they cheat at the same level in 2024 in order to deliver Harris a win?
That is an easy one. The Covid-19 panic was used in 2020 to implement a variety of sketchy forms of either harvesting and collecting ballots. In 2024, however, the RNC employed an army of lawyers and poll-watchers to deter blatant fraud, and they were kept busy defeating irregularities.
These millions of excess ballots cannot be explained as small-scale voter fraud, where individual voters vote at several polling stations or use the identity of recently deceased relatives. Such large-scale fraud should be detectable through analysis of precinct and county vote totals, though. It cannot have occurred uniformly in all the precincts, say, of a major city: Conspiracies that involve dozens or hundreds of people depend upon too many people remaining silent.
The most likely sources of massive fraud would be: (1) excess ballots from those precincts who never seem to be able to report on time; (2) ballot-harvesting operations; (3) mail-in ballots; (4) electronic manipulation of the counts.
Let’s be clear: By creating and defending lax methods of voting, our politicians have destroyed the electorate’s confidence in the integrity of the vote.
The solutions cannot be that difficult: (1) Same-day voting for everyone except overseas military. (2) Electronic systems for voter identity and counting. (3) Auditable ballots and ballot counts. (4) Severe penalties for election officials who commit fraud, or even the appearance of fraud by excluding poll-watchers from any part of the process.
John say, if it was so obvious why couldn’t republicans produce evidence? All they had were allegations and insinuations but no hard evidence. The “missing” 20 million votes has been explained ad nauseam.
Trump was claiming the election was being rigged before it even started. He provided zero proof. You ‘think’ 20 million votes went missing because Trump planted that idea in your head. What is missing is the evidence.
Don’t worry, I believe it will be coming. Wisconsin Senate vote is showing some signs of the Democrat voting disease.
Hmmmm, as whole? Pennsylvania must not be part of the whole. Self reflection? Oh how I am amused.
Ger real, the 2020 was “stolen.” And under the circumstances you should be glad J5ers were so well behaved. While, don’t forget, we have not forgotten the deaths of Roseanne Boyland and Ashli Babbitt. Or the gross mistreatment of J6ers. Your narrative is going to survive to become history.
The professor is so busy with just articles (I can’t believe he has the time for family, being a professor, going on television, debating) that I do not expect him to read these comments. But frequently now I ask him, what is enough before he labels these people with what they are – they are fascists. They do want an end to Democracy. Everything he writes bears this out. He just doesn’t want to say it. At some point, it has to happen before they find a way to seize power.
Who cares what the sore losers among the Dems are saying at this point?
Let’s face forward and support our governing majority with a public square brimming with creative thinking and problem-solving ideas.
How many times do you think conservatives will again have this opportunity for unified govt.? Whinging about what the weirdest Dems are saying and doing?…that is so last week.
“How many times do you think conservatives will again have this opportunity for unified govt.? ”
For as long as they deliver on their promises to voters and the american people.
In 2020 Biden needed to do ONE thing to assure that Democrats dominated in 2022 and 2024.
And that was NOTHING – Do not F#$K anything up. He was on a glide path to success he inherited a strong tail wind.
All he had to do was NOT blow it.
But that was too hard for Democrats.
Trump inherits a BLAH economy that has been teetering on the edge of recession for almost 2 years.
He inherits a mess throughout the world.
He inherits a disasterous border.
He inherits one big mess.
He can not coast to success in the future.
He actually MUST fix the mess he inherited.
But that is NOT all that hard.
And if he does so, Republicans stand a reasonable chance of expanding their majorities.
But they MUST deliver.
* Trump will work with investors. The usa has become a 3rd world emerging market. He’ll use Wall Street and hedge fund moguls to attract investment manufacturing. He’ll work with economics and not politics. He’ll provide jobs.
He’s working with some ignorance in the working class, too, who’ll merely take the additional profit with no thought to the national interest.
Mike Huckabee will be Ambassador to Israel.
Interesting choice.
An extremist fundamentalist Christian who believes that Israel must be destroyed in Armageddon to facilitate the second coming of Christ.
He also believes Jews will burn in hell.
With friends like that, who needs enemies.
Keep reading. It is good you know a bit of it, you need to understand the rest of it.
He doesn’t know a bit of it. He completely distorts it. He describes anyone who believes the Bible as an “extremist,” which sweeps in billions of people throughout history and an entire major world religion. He is ignorant and a religious bigot.
It is substantially worse than that. He is attacking someone he does not know presuming to know their beleifs based on his personally reading of something he does not beleive.
While all the while trapped in a religion far more ridiculous than what he criticizes.
While engaging in mind reading.
Interesting choice. An extremist fundamentalist Christian who believes that Israel must be destroyed in Armageddon to facilitate the second coming of Christ.
It’s a tenant of the Salafist/Wahaabist cult of Islam that believes believers must create an Armageddon to facilitate that last Mahdi crawling out of the sacred well at Qom in order for Mohammad to return to earth with Jesus obediently trotting along behind him at heel.
But suddenly an Anonymous coward posts that’s actually fundamentalist Christian! Who knew!
If you want to know what any flavor of Christian believes, it’s always best to get the answer from a bug eyed rabid commie from the atheist cult, who has been demonstrating in support of Hamas and Hezbollah. One demanding BDS and refusing Israel all help so that Iran and it’s Muslim terrorists can cleanse the earth of the presence of Jews and Israel. Before moving on to similarly destroy The Great Satan, of course.
This is what gets posted here from our very friends in the Democrats’ New Hitler Youth Movement. Sponsored by the equally genocidal Democrat Anti-Semitic Socialist Sisterhood, co-chaired by Democrats Judeth Tlaib and Ilhan Omar.
Interesting rant, but entirely beside the point.
Huckabee is a believer in the Tribulation as part of the end of days.
Therefore, he anticipates and hopes for widespread suffering by the vast majority of Jews, except for the remnant who survive the 7 years of suffering.
* I’ll settle it. It’s history. WWII. not explaining.
Your argument is with the Bible, not with Mike Huckabee.
No, my argument is with Huckabee who is stupid enough to believe this nonsense in the Bible.
You mean like Augustine, Aquinas, Jerome and most of the other inflential philosophers in Western thought?
Yes, exactly.
Anyone who believes anything in the bible is a stupid fool.
And thus you declare your own stupidity.
Then your argument is tilting at a fvcking windmill and YOU are the stupid one looking very much like a pathetic loser.
No, my argument is with Huckabee who is stupid enough to believe this nonsense in the Bible.
A quick list of other stupid people who follow the Bible that you clown show cowardly Anonymous Soviet Democrats pimp for and vote for:
Harris, Obama, Clinton: Baptists.
Pelosi and Schumer: Catholics
Schumer and Sanders: Jewish
Does it follow that if these are actually stupid people, then cowardly Anonymous atheist cult members are REALLY stupid to want to put them in public office?
Watching the agony of a commie from the Rock Fairy religious cult of atheism attempt to flex as though they both understand and can lecture on the meanings of the Bible, Torah, Quran, etc is like watching an old woman stirring her fingers in the entrails of a chicken while assuring you that she can tell your future.
Believing that something will happen is not hoping for it, ya goddam third grader. Who the fvck gave you permission to use your moms phone?? Give it back to her and go to bed.
“Huckabee is a believer in the Tribulation as part of the end of days.
Therefore, he anticipates and hopes for widespread suffering by the vast majority of Jews, “
Did your mother have any children who survived the birth canal without brain damage?
By your logic, the meteorologist who believes the Hurricane is going to be a Cat 5 and cause massive destruction and suffering is “anticipating and hoping for it”.
What a pathetic stooge.

Sorry to say, but I actually agree: I am NOT a fan of Huckabee, to put it mildly, and I sure as heck didn’t vote for him. Disappointing.
It is always interesting to hear the idiocy that left wing nuts think about evangelicals.
Alan Dershowitx – an actual jew and a strong supporter of Israel who has been to Israel many times. including meeting Huckabee in Israel,
has endorsed the choice of Huckabee and offered to teach Huckabee a bit of Hebrew over Dinner in the US embassy next time he is in Israel.
Pretty sure Huckabee will do fine.
“. . . who believes that . . .”
Lies, smears, and malice — in just two sentences.
Nice moral compass you got there.
Professor Turley,
Protesters after the election called for tearing down the system as a whole, insisting that “Trump is not an individual. He’s a figurehead of a system that’s rotten.” You link to the article: https://blockclubchicago.org/2024/11/07/hundreds-protest-trumps-win-two-party-system-downtown/
However, that article does not identify a single person who wants to “tear down the system as a whole.” They simply are protesting the lack of options in a two-party system. There is nothing inherent to American democracy that requires us to have only two viable parties. Thus, a desire for better options is not anti-democratic. In fact, it is pro-democratic.
Why do you consistently fail to accurately describe the arguments of individuals/groups in the articles you yourself cite? Do you even read them before putting together a blog post that stitches completely different points from unrelated people? How is that you follow the citation to that article with law professors advocating for a break from the Constitution. There is no throughline between those completely different topics.
You need a better editor to maintain a coherent point.
<< "However, that article does not identify a single person who wants to “tear down the system as a whole.”
Iranian paid protestors who say; “We need to come together,” Guillory said. “We need to unite, and we need to fight against this system.”
That doesn't really sound as if they are looking to build up this system?
Turley speaks of Democrats rejecting democracy, but fails to mention that Trump has demanded that Republicans in the Senate immediately go into recess in 2025 so he can shove through recess appointments for his cabinet, to avoid the Constitutionally-mandated hearing and approval process. WHY do you suppose that is? One of the most-important duties of the Senate is to hold confirmation hearings, and the recess appointment process is intended to be used in emergencies when the Senate is not in regular session.
“Justia US Law” cites the following from Thomas Jefferson: “The Recess Appointments Clause was adopted by the Constitutional Convention without dissent and without debate regarding the intent and scope of its terms. In Federalist No. 67, Alexander Hamilton refers to the recess appointment power as “nothing more than a supplement . . . for the purpose of establishing an auxiliary method of appointment, in cases to which the general method was inadequate.” It is generally accepted that the clause was designed to enable the President to ensure the unfettered operation of the government during periods when the Senate was not in session and therefore unable to perform its advice and consent function. ” The Senate will be able to perform its advice and consent function. The recess appointment process was NOT intended to bypass the usual Constitutional process for confirmation. Trump has admitted that his nominees might not make it through the process, and he’s trying to avoid public exposure of the weaknesses of candidates like RFK, Jr., who is literally crazy, and others who are conflicted or otherwise controversial.
Trump also demands that Democrats refrain from making judicial appointments before he takes office, ignoring the fact that he made 32 judicial appointments after he lost in 2020–including the totally-unqualified and disgraced Aileen Mercedes Cannon.
Senate process is due for some big reforms….to eliminate time-wasting traditions like the roll call (electronic voting was introduced in the House 50 years ago!)
Advice and Consent cannot be gamed as a stalling tactic (passive resistance). There are literally hundreds of positions requiring confirmation. How much time would you budget, Gigi, for the Senate to contribute their role without obstructionism? How does 15 minutes followed by a 5 min. e-vote for each nominee? Or, allowing the Senate’s Presiding Officer to batch them into groups OK’s with one vote?
I think that’s what’s driving the demand for Recess Appointments. Speed getting the new administration up and running. To serve the American people.
Or, we could just do away with the filibuster. Not that I really figure that’s a good idea, but it’d be worth it to just float it out there and watch the dems melt into their shoes.
Yeah. That Constitution thing sure is pesky, especially when it gets in the way of steamrolling your way to get what you want.
The confirmation process DOES serve the American people by public vetting of the people who will have power—it’s what the framers chose. Trump is trying to ram through his choices because he knows they are controversial and some are conflicted. And, bear in mind that the Republicans control the Senate, so it’s not like they won’t get confirmed. He’s demanding recess appointments to keep the American people from hearing the truth about his choices and their faults, and that violates the spirit if not the letter of the Constitution. And Turley accuses Democrats of being undemocratic.
Trump also demands that Democrats refrain from making judicial appointments before he takes office, ignoring the fact that he made 32 judicial appointments after he lost in 2020–including the totally-unqualified and disgraced Aileen Mercedes Cannon.
Just did a Google search on Gigi’s claim Trump made that demand. Google has told me that Gigi is still the Fire Ho Of Lies – they can find no instance of Trump making that demand as Gigi claims.
Beyond that, Gigi’s desperate hope is that Americans don’t pay attention to judicial nominations made in a lame duck session when the opposition controls the Senate- versus when the president’s party has firm control of the senate. Whatever nominations Republican Trump made to the Senate, he made them to a Republican controlled senate.
Nominations, lame duck president or not, made by a president to a Senate controlled by his party invariably succeed.
Nominations by a lame duck president to an opposition Senate invariably fail – just as Bush’s final nominations as a lame duck president to a Democrat Senate failed. Obama filled all those positions instead.
Gigi is such an inept, vicious liar that she can’t even do her BullShyte research beforehand.
You’re as pathetic and unqualified a disgraceful liar as Vice President DEI Hire. Where both are you are concerned, you are proof that possessing a vagina doesn’t automatically make you intelligent.
It’s from a post on “Truth Social “, dated yesterday. Look it up and stop calling me names. You owe me and our Vice President apologies.
Democrats control the Senate now and can push through judicial nominees just like Trump did when he lost in 2020.

Okay, I was dumb enough to take you seriously enough to look: https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump
AAANNNDDDD… you’re still a fvcking liar, no different than you repeatedly claiming Trump is going to make abortion illegal.
And I nor anybody else owes either of you two Lying Vaginas an apology while you double down on lying about Trump, people who voted for Trump and continue your race baiting and racist crap.
From the Washington Post, QUOTING from “Truth Social”
“When a new president takes office, the Senate’s main job is to confirm — or oppose — people the president nominates to serve in key government roles. But Trump told Republican senators who want to be majority leader that they need to step aside when he gets into office so he can unilaterally select his leaders.
“Any Republican Senator seeking the coveted LEADERSHIP position in the United States Senate must agree to Recess Appointments,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, adding that he wants positions filled “IMMEDIATELY!”
Turley speaks of rage, constantly accusing Democrats of being the ones fostering it. Just look at the kind of misogynistic, hateful things you MAGAs write, and, like Trump, you never admit you are wrong, you never apologize and you are seemingly incapable of having anything resembling civil discourse.
“misogynistic” is a word appearing in almost every gigi post. Must be a new word she learned from someone else.
Trump has demanded that Republicans in the Senate immediately go into recess in 2025 so he can shove through recess appointments for his cabinet, to avoid the Constitutionally-mandated hearing and approval process.
No, he hasn’t. What he has demanded is that the new majority leader commit to calling a recess if it proves necessary. He’s correctly anticipating Democrats to obstruct and delay his nominations out of pure spite, just as they did eight years ago. Or have you forgotten how that went. They pulled every trick in the book to drag out each nomination, no matter how uncontroversial, just to sabotage the administration. And McConnell refused to take the senate into recess so he could make the appointments in reasonable time. This time he wants the new leader to let the Democrats know they won’t get away with that again.
Trump also demands that Democrats refrain from making judicial appointments before he takes office
No, he doesn’t. He can’t demand anything from the Democrats. He’s demanding that Republicans do what little is in their power not to allow these nominations, e.g. by pulling the same antics the Dems did to him.
It’s not obstructing or delaying anything for cabinet nominees to be vetted–it’s in the Constitution FOR A REASON–the American people have EVERY right to see and hear the people who will be running our government, including hearing answers to hard questions asked by the opposing party. We taxpayers pay the salaries and office costs for these people–they work for US–not Trump. The FOUNDERS deliberately set up the process in this manner because a president is not a king—he’s not entitled to do whatever he wants or put whomever he wants in charge of our military, our governmental agencies, homeland security, etc. without the “advise and consent” of the Senate. AND, the Senate will confirm anyone Trump nominates–so you have to wonder why Trump wants to avoid the vetting process.
And, Trump never used the phrase “if it proves necessary”. Many Presidents have filled their cabinets the first day because they didn’t nominate unqualified, inexperienced, controversial, conflicted or crazy people like Trump plans to–for instance, RFK, Jr. to “go wild on food and the medicine”. RFK, Jr.’s own family opposed his candidacy, and a confirmation hearing for him would be a circus because he is literally insane,
For some reason my reply to this comment appears all the way at the top of this page.
Oh, one more thing:
One of the most-important duties of the Senate is to hold confirmation hearings
No, it isn’t. Such hearings are not mentioned in the constitution, and didn’t become a normal thing until the mid-20th century.
From the Washington Post: “When a new president takes office, the Senate’s main job is to confirm — or oppose — people the president nominates to serve in key government roles.” But Trump told Republican senators who want to be majority leader that they need to step aside when he gets into office so he can unilaterally select his leaders.
“Any Republican Senator seeking the coveted LEADERSHIP position in the United States Senate must agree to Recess Appointments,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, adding that he wants positions filled “IMMEDIATELY!””
Most people agree that when there is a new administration the confirmation process is one of the Senate’s main jobs.
For some reason my reply to this appears all the way up top. I have no idea why. I hate this comment system.
From “Vox”. 11/11/2024:
“{Recess appointments work differently, and they don’t require a vote. The president simply appoints an official of their choice. The idea behind them was that there might arise times when the president needed to appoint someone to keep the government functioning, while Congress was out of session (in recess).
“At the time the Constitution was written, Congress met mainly nine out of 24 months, and there were long stretches where Congress wasn’t in session,” Squire told Vox. As such, the Constitution states the president has the “Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.””
They’re eating their own! (Cue the music for That’s Entertainment)
From Conservative Direct:
‘The View’ lashes out at Nancy Pelosi over comments about Biden’s part in Harris’ loss: ‘So nasty!’
Cindy Bragg
Kamabalism
Perfect! lol
Cindy, it’s quite a spectacle watching the Democrats turn on each other. Who said cannibalism was a thing of the past?
S. Meyer….LOL…..yep, this ain’t Biden’s Uncle’s cannibalism anymore!
BTW……when Autumn came this year, I thought of you and your wife again, and wondered if y’all got to take a trip up the Hudson to see the gorgeous foliage. Hope so!
Cindy, Sadly not, but maybe next fall. That and another visit to Israel are the two trips I wish for the most. How is your daughter? She is no longer inNYC, right?
S.Meyer…….Hope it can happen for y’all next year! Our daughter left NYC 10 months before 9/11.(She and family live on a ranch near us)
She was so lucky to have lived in Manhattan during the Rudy years! We love that man. Now, her oldest son is thinking about going to NYU (Tisch?) when he graduates from high school in 2 years.
New York City is an exciting place for young people, but its charm has been overshadowed by poor management in recent years. I’ve only returned to my home in Manhattan twice since 2020 –once for a wedding and once to pick up my dog. That’s how disheartening I find the city today, especially for older folks like my wife and me. I’m glad your daughter is back with you, and hopefully, in a couple of years, NYC will see some improvement.”
S. Meyer……P.S. I’m enjoying receiving my ZOA periodicals, etc. Hope you get to have your trip to Israel!
BTW, Mike Huckabee is an excellent choice for Ambassador. He was raised Southern Baptist, like me. There is no Christian denomination that loves Israel and the Jewish people as much as Southern Baptists do!
Cindy, I had the opportunity to meet Mike Huckabee in an intimate social setting. I’d always liked him, but after spending time with him, I came to see what a truly wonderful person he is. His genuine love for Israel is unmistakable. Anyone spreading derogatory remarks about him only reveals their own hatred and lack of decency.
Hillary has been mighty quiet lately. I wonder if she’s getting packed for her move to Gitmo?!
Reminds the historically literate of the Purges by Stalin in the 1930s. And the old joke of the prisoners in Lubyanka: “If only Stalin knew!”
