The Scripps National Spelling Bee has triggered a controversy after adopting the alternative spelling of “women” as permissible. Students will now be allowed to spell “women” as “womyn.” Parody and reality seem to have emerged given a past Babylon Bee skit (below).
The new 2024-2025 school year study lists include the feminist term “womyn” as an acceptable alternate spelling for “women.”
“Womyn,” however, has itself now been criticized as offensive. While some feminists wanted to de-masculinize the word and use either womyn or womxn, transgender advocates oppose the term because it is used by feminists who exclude transgender individuals. They also reject the alternative of “wombyn” as referring to a person with a womb as an alternative. That has led some, such as Jennie Kermode, chair of Trans Media Watch, to reject the term “womxn” in favor of “women” as now encompassing trans women.
A Scripps spokesperson pointed to the Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary, which has now recognized the alternate spelling for “women.”

At some point the demise of the USD as THE reserve currency of trade on the international stage was going to happen. I just never thought I would see it in my lifetime. Building the Opposition
MAGA was not focused specifically on resisting Biden. It had a bolder agenda. It wanted to build an opposing ideological and political movement to win elections and govern over the long term. It prioritized hate over hope, cronyism over competence and retribution over reconciliation.
As we head towards January, it is our turn to use this period productively. Hoping that Trump fails is not a plan. We must develop and foster new movements, structures, tactics, platforms and leaders to oppose Trump and articulate a positive vision.
In most democratic political systems, this is referred to as the opposition. Rather than a resistance, the concept of an opposition is more comprehensive and durable. It recognizes that there are no time limits to the effort.
In some systems the opposition entails an entire shadow government, in others it focuses on specific platforms

Regarding the E. Jean Carroll case, Trump was found guilty of sexual abuse. It is a civil liability case. These are mere technicalities, because now that he’s President-elect, Trump gets out of jail free for this and other offenses. But soon he’ll be a lame damn duck, if he isn’t already.

ABC settled because they were wrong and would lose in court. Trump was not found guilty of rape. This was a civil case in NY, which has become infamous for a court system biased against Trump. He was found guilty of sexual abuse, because E Jean Carroll’s friend testified that she told her about an incident in which Carroll met Trump at Bergdorf’s, and offered to go into the changing room with him to get undressed and try on lingerie for him. She claimed that she was laughing playfully the entire time she was in a dressing room with Trump, with the intention of getting undressed and trying on lingerie, and said he initiated a sexual encounter, still laughing, she said she pushed him away, and he left. The bar for a civil trial is so incredibly low that decades after the alleged event, hearsay was all that was needed. That would be like Justice Brett Kavanaugh getting convicted of rape because Julie Swetnick told people he raped her by the red Solo cups. Trump offered to provide a DNA sample to rebut E Jean Carroll’s claim to have his DNA on her dress, as long as her council would turn over all missing pages of the DNA report. She refused, and it went to trial without any DNA evidence.
It’s impossible to prove you didn’t do something 30 years ago.

It is hard to characterize Trump’s civil suit and consequent defamation proceeding as a court proceeding at all.
The standards of proof were on par with the henhouse gossip in the Music Man.
There is NO reliability of what they called ‘evidence’ with these standards, it runs on all only stark accusations, mass ideation, made up stories and musings of a fevered memory that actually was the plot of a TV episode, and the statute of limitations being retroactively changed by partisan law makers.
This is not a court, where all pretense of the meaning “evidence” is perverted and distorted into meaning anything utterable.
It has all the superficial trappings of a court, but none of the content and meaning that justifies calling it a court, e.g. The People’s Court of 1930s Germany.

You really don’t need to go through the evidence you got filtered through MAGA media about the E. Jean Carroll case–Trump was represented by counsel of his choosing and he LOST. The jury didn’t believe him–they believed E. Jean Carroll. The bar for a civil trial is “preponderance of the evidence”—more likely than not. AND, she reported the incident contemporaneously to several friends, which is what a sexual assault victim does. Did you forget the “grab them by the puxxy” recording? Is it really a stretch that he wouldn’t do it when he thought his manliness was being attacked by the suggestion of trying on womens’ lingerie? The jury didn’t think so.
And, Karen S., when is Dr. Blasey-Ford going to go on the talk show circuit and start profiting from testifying against Brett Kavanaugh, which is what you said she would do and was the motivation for her lying about what he did–according to you? Last I heard, she and her family are still in hiding.
