Below is my column on Fox.com on the bizarre controversy surrounding New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and his suggestion that he was housing an illegal migrant in his home. It is a new version of Murphy’s Law on how virtue signaling can turn into a virtual nightmare for Democrats over immigration.
Here is the column:
For years, engineers have cited Murphy’s Law that “anything that can go wrong will go wrong.” The law is attributed to aerospace engineer Edward A. Murphy Jr. from the 1940s. However, this week, the law seems re-written by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, who is under fire after suggesting that he may be sheltering an undocumented woman above his garage.
Murphy was being interviewed by the liberal group Blue Wave New Jersey and thrilled his Democratic base by indicating that he had given sanctuary to an undocumented person in his home. It was a curious moment when, after promising sanctuary, Murphy not only appeared to out his guest but then taunted ICE to come and try to take her.
After seemingly staking out the immigrant like a sacrificial goat in a lion hunt, Murphy’s virtue signaling summoned the authorities. And now, the Iceman Cometh.
Trump’s border czar Tom Homan vowed to “look into” the Governor’s house guest.
The interview illustrated how some strive to prove their progressive bona fides at the cost of those they claim to be protecting. It is akin to the good people of Martha’s Vineyard singing to undocumented persons just before shipping them off to a distant military base.
Of course, Murphy appeared to struggle with calling her an undocumented migrant, let alone an illegal alien. Instead. she was described by the governor as a person “whose immigration status is not yet at the point that they are trying to get it to.”
Murphy explained how
“Tammy and I were talking about – I don’t want to get into too much detail, but there is someone in our broader universe whose immigration status is not yet at the point that they are trying to get it to. And we said, you know what? Let’s have her live at our house above our garage.”
You could almost hear the cooing from the crowd. Murphy then added the taunt to the tell: “And good luck to the feds coming in to try to get her.”
Of course, the most important “details” for the woman are her status and location.
The most important detail for Murphy was to suggest that he and Tammy have a real live undocumented person housed above their cars. Not a poster or pamphlet on undocumented entry, but a real undocumented person. Of course, what can be lost in such moments is not just the person’s identity but her humanity. She did not seem like a real person at all . . . more like some prop or novelty item to brag about.
What was so striking about the interview is that ICE is not generally rounding up undocumented persons. Rather they have focused on aliens who have committed criminal acts. While Murphy and others have issued chest-pounding declarations to defy the federal government, the public is overwhelmingly in support of the effort. Murphy previously declared that he would “fight to the death” against Trump’s agenda.
A recent poll by The New York Times and Ipsos found that an astronomical 88 percent of citizens supported “deporting immigrants who are here illegally and have criminal records.”
Within days of the Trump Administration coming into office, thousands of such targets were located and arrested.
For other immigrants, there is still a comfort in numbers. With millions allowed into the country under President Biden, most are keeping a low profile in the knowledge that they are not the priority for ICE.
However, when a governor openly taunts the government and advocates the use of private homes as sanctuaries, he forces the hand of the government.
It is even more problematic if this is the governor’s public residence or under the protection of state officers. Murphy may be using such state resources to violate federal law.
It was not clear what the status of Murphy’s guest was. The governor’s breathless account of his own courageous stand suggested that she would be subject to deportation, if discovered.
Under Section 1324 of Title 8 of the United States Code, it is unlawful when anyone “conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.”
That is when Murphy’s law kicked in with a vengeance.
After his boast about “hav[ing] her live at our house above our garage,” a close associate later suggested that it was all a type of liberal projection. It is now claimed that he never actually made the offer to the person, but “mentioned to someone else that they could move in if they want, so I think that’s where some of the misunderstanding was.” The source also added that “The person wasn’t undocumented. The person was a legal resident of the United States of America.”
Ok, let’s get this straight. Murphy did an interview with a liberal group on how he agreed to “have her live at our house above our garage” but could not share any other details to be safe. Nevertheless, Murphy warned about the reception if “the feds com[e] in to try to get her.” Yet, his associate is now claiming that there is no harbored illegal to get. Not only was she never in the garage, but she is perfectly legal and is not subject to deportation. It was like Murphy bragging that he has Chris Christie living above his garage. It is hardly the stuff of Harriett Tubman and the Underground Railroad.
The bizarre controversy, however, has greater importance in what Murphy was struggling to convey. He and other governors are pledging to bar any cooperation with the federal government in the deportation of unlawful immigrants. The latest example was Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, who pledged to continue to defy federal enforcement even at the loss of substantial state aid.
As with Murphy’s faux resident refugee, the declarations in states from Illinois to New Jersey to Massachusetts will force the hand of the federal government. While the federal government cannot “commandeer” state officials in the enforcement of federal law, it also does not have to subsidize those officials in frustrating enforcement efforts. The Trump Administration is expected to move to block funds for sanctuary states and cities. So, in addition to billions being spent on housing and benefits, these states will lose billions in federal aid.
What is most striking is that it never mattered if the Murphy claim was true or not. For many, it was another “I am Spartacus Moment” from a New Jersey Democratic politician that fell comically flat.
Gov. Murphy’s law should be a cautionary tale for all of his Democratic colleagues in state houses. Virtue signaling can summon costs not just for themselves but for their states.

If a criminal flees one state and ‘holes up’ in another, that second state must allow the first state to bring the accused back to face justice. It is in the constitution (in better form).
# it’s all sabotage falling under cyber crime. Cyber crime includes social engineering as in MSN, The View, PBS, Modern Family, and all the rest.
Sabotage of political or economic systems is up there with treason as crime. This governor is a casualty.
FYI
Q: How many DOJ employees does it take to unscrew the light bulb above Trump’s head?
A: 5,000.
(sorry, posted under wrong article)
Let’s hope Tom Homan isn’t being boastful and preening to HIS following with a promise to begin enforcing Federal Law 8.1324 against civic leaders.
Haven’t noticed Homan doing that about anything. He doesn’t strike me as one who does it. Ever.
“In interviews, Palestinian Americans said that it was surreal and horrifying to hear the president talk about expelling millions of people from the Gaza Strip and placing it under U.S. control
Ungrateful SOBs. He was going to build a world class 5 star resort on the land and give them a 10% discount on their first stay.
Sheeeeeesf, ungrateful SOBs.
Let them live in the rubble then. He tried, but like good Progressives, they would rather suffer, complain and blame.
Maybe it was politically wiser for Trump to openly endorse ethnic cleansing, and to not push Netanyahu off a political cliff.
What better way to float an alternative policy trial balloon than by endorsing something guaranteed to induce worldwide opposition?
Obama/Biden/Clinton’s ethnic Springs?
That said, murder, rape… rape-rape, torture-torture, and abduction in the pursuit of social justice is no ethical vice.
The problem for the people in Gaza is that Hamadidals and empathetic supporters entertain abortive ideation, the wicked solution funded through redistributive change schemes… but there is hope and change.
Immigration reform is a transhumanitarian choice. Supporting social justice with collateral damage is too.
Trump is willing to support reconstruction to help people in Gaza after Hamas a la Japanese after empire, Germans after Nazis, Americans after Democrazis (e.g. DEI), etc.
It is morbidly enjoyable to watch the meltdowns and irrational rants by the far left radicals. How do you defend the degradation of women by allowing men to compete in women’s sports, allow them in girls locker rooms, in women’s prisons?
What justification can be given to have an open border? Look at the thugs who made it to our heartland. There were tens of thousands of pounds of fentanyl seized at the southern border, enough to kill millions. Why weren’t the gangs rounded up under the Biden administration? The Cartels have made billions! They are vicious and violent.
Now they are screaming because an audit of USAid demonstrates massive fraud and abuse of taxpayers money. That which is legitimate will continue. Air out the laundry and let the chips fall where they may.
The list is endless.

“Your interpretive skills are lacking anon.”
That anonymous poster exhibits a different variety of AI: “Absent Intelligence”…
I’ve taken to thinking that idiots, morons, and nitwits as have the opposite of Artificial Intelligence: they exhibit Genuine Stupidity.
So with USAID paying ‘Politico’ millions of dollars it appears that rather than a news source Politico is just a whore.
I shouldn’t say that.
I don’t want to appear to criticize the working girls who, after all, don’t hurt anyone much less undermine the country, and who only rent their bodies for a little while.
Their business is much more moral than selling your soul to Satan as Politico seems to have done.
“it appears that rather than a news source Politico is just a whore.”
Those with any real perception and intelligence have long realized that most media outlets (including ALL MSM) were nothing but whores. The revelation here is that it was none other than the Federal Government that was their main sugar daddy john.
Did I cite sources ? What, exactly, did I write that you claim is a lie ? Most of what you accuse me of misrepresenting is false or your deceitful spin on what I said. And, I know it’s you, Tom, because you are the one who tries to insult people by calling them “spastic”, which is a neuromuscular condition unrelated to cognitive functioning.
Gigenius demonstrates her low IQ by replying to no one.
You know exactly every lie. You know its tom because he is the one who pointed them out to you.
Once again, you spastic she-serpent

spas·tic
adjective
adjective: spastic
1.
relating to or affected by muscle spasm.
relating to or denoting a form of muscular weakness ( spastic paralysis ) typical of cerebral palsy, caused by damage to the brain or spinal cord and involving reflex resistance to passive movement of the limbs and difficulty in initiating and controlling muscular movement.
2.
OFFENSIVE
incompetent or uncoordinated.
There are two definitions. The second one is clearly the one that relates to you, as you just proved ONCE AGAIN.
Suck it, crybaby loser.
Spasticity is a movement disorder–it is NOT a disorder of cognitive processing. Here is what the Cleveland Clinic says about spasticity:
“Spasticity is a disruption in muscle movement patterns that causes certain muscles to contract all at once when you try to move or even at rest. The muscles remain contracted and resist being stretched. It interferes with movement and can also affect your speech and gait (walk).
Spasticity can vary greatly in how it affects someone — it may be as mild as the feeling of tightness of your muscles or may be so severe that it causes painful, uncontrollable stiffness and spasms of your extremities.
Spasticity can involve the following:
Increased muscle tone (hypertonia).
Muscle spasms (quick and/or sustained involuntary muscle contractions).
Clonus (series of fast involuntary muscle contractions that may feel like a tremor, most often experienced in your ankles).
Involuntary crossing of your legs.
Pain or discomfort.
Abnormal posture.
Contracture (permanent contraction of the muscle and tendon due to severe lasting stiffness and spasms).
Muscle, joint and/or bone deformities.
Difficulty performing daily activities, and difficulty for others to help with activities such as dressing and bathing.
Sleep disruption due to, for example, painful spasms or muscle tightness.
Muscle movements are normally controlled by a complex system that allows some of your muscles to contract (tighten) while others relax. Damage to nerves in your central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) can disrupt this pattern. As a result, many muscles may contract all at once (sometimes called co-contraction), which makes it difficult to perform voluntary movement.”
Fine then, we’ll ignore spasticiy. You’re a programmed dumbass and the people that tell you what to think are evil.
The question of who controlled Gaza is something many people misunderstand. That misunderstanding is worse among the antisemitic crowd. Rather than answer many questions from the worst of the worst, I will summarize what I would have said to each of them.
Gaza has been under the control of many different people, including the Biblical Jews and the modern Jews. Egypt was one of the earliest owners under the Pharaohs, and that land no longer exists. Present-day Egypt didn’t want the land of Gaza.
In the interim, we see the ownership by many, including the Babylonians, Greeks, Persians and Romans. All are gone, including the Byzantine Empire, which was followed by many states until the Ottomans gained control, only to lose it with their defeat in 1917.
That 1917 defeat is where the modern era of the Middle East starts. Post-war, the British had the mandate for the area under international law. The other mandates and the British mandate created most of the countries in the Middle East, all abiding by the same rules.
The British Mandate was initially destined for the Jews. The rest of the mandates went to the Arab Muslim nations we see today. Because of Muslim intransigence, even though they were given the entire Middle East, the British cut the mandate in two. That led to the modern state of Jordan and, eventually, Israel. Jordan had a much larger mandate, but the Muslims were not satisfied to let Israel have the lesser area of the mandate, nor were they satisfied to accept peace when the 1948 war created the State of Israel within the green line a tiny fraction of the original mandate.
After the war, Jordan occupied Judea, Samaria and Old Jerusalem. Egypt occupied Gaza. Both occupations were against international law. International law is responsible for all the international boundaries in the Middle East.
That is just one claim of Israel’s sovereignty. The others are 1)the Jews are indigenous, 2) they had a sovereign state, 3) two Kingdoms with the same people living in the same area today, 3) they had a continuous Jewish presence, 4) Jews worked the land, 5)and had recognition by the world’s countries.
Aside from the above reasons for Jewish sovereignty are other legal foundations.
Treaties, including US treaties
San Remo Conference 1920
League of Nations Mandate 1922
Article 80 of the UN Charter
No legal framework ever revoked these rights from Israel controlling Gaza, the West Bank and Old Jerusalem.
Seth Meyer–
I don’t care who holds the title to Gaza.
Any people who can do what these did on October 7 has forfeited claim to any piece of land that isn’t at least 6 feet below the surface.
What “people” are you referring to? Hamas is responsible for October 7. Most of the more than 40,000 Palestinians killed by Israel were women and children under the age of 9. They aren’t Hamas.
Gigi, where do you get your figures? In 1943 would you have accepted the Nazi press releases? The Japanese Empire’s press releases? How about Bagdad Bob’s press releases?
One thing I know about the Gazans vis a vis Hamas is that when the kidnapped women were driven through the streets the “Gazans” punched and kicked at them and at some of their dead bodies. Another thing I know about them is that when a young woman HOSTAGE was being released last week mobs tried to get at her to do her harm.
Sorry Gazans but your time is up, you blew your chances to have a country and now you must be dispersed, weakened, deprogrammed and neutered. You attacked your hosts in Jordan, you ruined the nation of Lebanon, you turned down offer after offer for a homeland by demanding the destruction of another’s homeland. I have ZERO pity for you now and you must be destroyed as a political entity. I only have sympathy for the children that haven’t been radicalized with hatred for another race…YET! All men and women need to pay for what they have done and being removed from polite political society is what is needed. They cannot rise again.
@hullbobby: Amen, and amen. There is nothing else to be said. Yours is a very concise, rational, and well-reasoned summary, and you have won 2,472 Internet points for having posted it!
Ditto ^^^^^. Good comments from hullbobby and I join Hickdead in the complement.
(p.s. I looked at the maps of the area, and it is most definitely a political mess….)
What is your source? The terrorists have been debunked and you are defunct.
Hamas is the official government of Gaza elected by the Palestinian people there.
In 2003 the US invaded Afghanistan and over the next two decades killed upwards of 200,000 Afghans – why ? Because the govenrment of Afghanistan – the Taliban gave aide and shelter to Al Queda who was responsible for an act of war/terror killing about 3000 americans.
Proportionately Oct 7 in israel is FAR WORSE than 9/11 in the US. Slightly over 1000 people were killed in an act of war/terror against a country about 1/30th the population of the US and about the size of New Jersey.
Hamas was responsible for the Oct 7 attack on israel – The Taliban were not responsible for 9/11, they just provided a place for Al Queda to operate from and refused to turn them over to us when we demanded.
Unless you were out on the streets protesting the US invasion of Afghanistan and pretty much NO ONE was,
Then your criticism of Israel over the deaths of allegedly 40,000 palestinians is antisemetic – aparently in YOUR world only the US can got to war against regimes that commit acts of Terror against us.
War inevitably kills civilians. Civilians in a country that commits and act of war against another are not legitimate targets,
but their death as collateral damage in war is both expected and sanctioned by international law.
The palestinians could have avoided every single civilian casualty in many many ways.
They could have chosen a governemnt other than Hamas,
They could have stopped Hamas from committing an act of war.
They could have tuned over those in Hamas to israel after the act of war was committed.
Hamas could have surrendered to prevent the deaths of palestinians in Gaza.
The laws of war expect and allow for civilian causalties. They even allow for INTENTIONAL civilian causualties.
Again the US has used Drones to target Terrorists. When we do so – quite often we KNOW before we launch a H3llfire missle that civilians – sometimes many civilians will be killed. That is allowed and expected by the law of war. You can nopt target civilians, but you can kill civilians knowingly and deliberately to kill actual targets.
Further one of the reason we call Hamas and Al Queda terrorists – is not because they commit acts of war – Hitler committed acts of war – we did not call him a terrorist.
We do so because they do not wear uniforms and they chose to fight and hide among civilians.
When you choose to fight in the midst of civilians – children, when you use hospitals as military bunkers, even more than when you commit acts of war – you are culpable for the deaths of your people.
Yeah, we should bomb their homes to rubble, starve them and then we should round them all up put them in camps and exterminate them with poisonous gas in showers.
@ Traveler: When one is being attacked and killed, one must fight, and that means destruction. The Israelis tried to protect human life but that is difficult when men hide behind their women and children. Gaza has gotten more aid than almost any other country of similar size. Did it build desalinization plants? No. The money was used to build tunnels and bombs. The water piping was used to make missiles to kill civilians. Nothing needs to be done for as soon as Hamas stops killing innocents, the war ends ,and the people can spend the aid money on water and electricity It is amazing how uniformed some people can be. The Gazan population is growing.
The poisons gas in showers was a Nazi method of genocide. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem made a pact with the Nazis to exterminate the Jews. It is amazing you don’t know these things. Your reading list seems to include a lot of antisemitic books. I bet if we look at your book shelves, Mein Kampf and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion will be prominently displayed.
Nope
Don’t own either nor have I read them. I did see a documentary about the Red terror though, pretty brutal. Killed the Czar and his whole family, women and children.
“Don’t own either nor have I read them. “
@ Traveler: You don’t own and haven’t read Mein Kampf or The Protocols of the Elders of Zion? Wow! Maybe I should send you used copies so you can see how closely your thoughts align with theirs.
“. . . has forfeited . . .”
Precisely. Well said.
More revisionist blasphemy, Myer.
Your irrational faux religious (political?) fervor is exceeded only by your arrogant mendacity
In any case, Trump stole my idea of making Gaza (& Israel) ‘The Riveria of the Middle East.’ That’s got a ring to it, and Bibi has first dibs.
Trump’s U.S. ‘ownership position’ of Gaza, however, may present some further problems without cleat title. Not all leveraged buyouts work.
Word on the streets of Doho is the Palestinians are willing to trade Gaza for Mar Lago and half of West Palm beach.
And what rough beast slouches towards Damascus?
*good night uncle Leo .. .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYZBKqemQrU
Snowden, bad attempt at being cute, your stupidity overwhelmed it.
I well say, hullbob, at least Trump expressed some concern for all those 2 million poor destitute souls still huddled in Gaza.
Meyer and you don’t seem to care at all
As you put it, “I well say”, dgsknow-nothing. Ask the Gazans. They voted for a terrorist organization. They permitted their children to be taught acts of terrorism as soon as they go to school. They name streets after their children who blew up Israeli school buses. We got it. You like terrorists.
As for the peaceful Gazan, they want out and have wanted out for a long time. Against international law for refugees they are not permitted out by Egypt or any of the countries in the area. The best idea is to figure out how to let them out and permit the terrorists to meet their 72 virgins.
No country in the world wants them. Countries that take all kinds of other refugees do NOT want palestinians.
Everywhere in the world they have gone they engage in terrorism – EVERYWHERE – Germany, or Jordan.
The reason egypt will not let them out is NO ONE WANTS them.
All those in Gaza had to do to have their own country is accept it when it was offered – multiple times.
Instead they have turned a fairly decent place in the mideast into a h3llhole.
They are destitute because they allowed their government to commit acts of war and terrorism against a neighbor.
“More revisionist blasphemy, Myer.”
Let’s see what dgsnowden has to offer?
I’m waiting but all I hear today is your stupid silence. All I heard yesterday was your stupid silence. You are one of those that picks a position without good reason, though in your case it is likely antisemitism. We can deal with that because at least we know where you are coming from.
In your case, Meyer, everything is likely antisemitism
‘We’ all know there are still around 2 million traumatized women and children in Gaza longing to breathe free .. . a few conspicuous ‘acts of kindness’ would go a long way.
*also, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. .. is where I’m coming from
“In your case, Meyer, everything is likely antisemitism”
No, I limit calling people antisemites to those who have a double standard for Jews and Israel where that double standard leads to the death of Jews and the destruction of the State of Israel. In your case, I could be wrong. You might be stupider than most imagine.
I too don’t like people dying on either side, but what is one to do when a people vote for terrorism and permit their children to be terrorists? The only answer is to fight the terrorists and try to save the people. Israel has tried to spare lives, but you provide hope to the terrorists that they can survive another day.
As they say at the UN ‘one man’s terrorist, is another man’s freedom fighter’ .. . but I’m sure you consider the UN antisemitic too.
It’s the Chosen Ones against the world now, eh Meyers?
*I don’t think even Trump is going to buy that load of dung
“As they say at the UN ‘one man’s terrorist, is another man’s freedom fighter’ .”
If I considered you intelligent, I would compliment you on your droll point. UN members assisted in the Oct 7 massacre and held hostages. They also enabled the terrorists by permitting them to build under their offices and helped them in many other ways. In other wars, after ceasefires were created and peace guaranteed by UN forces, they walked away when the terrorists decided to attack.
“It’s the Chosen Ones against the world now, eh Meyers?”
No. It’s the educated and peaceful people of the world against the stupid. You don’t even know what the Chosen Ones mean. The meaning doesn’t give Jews an advantage. It adds extra burdens even if many Jews (born to a Jewish mother) don’t accept those burdens.
“I don’t think even Trump is going to buy that load of dung”
Trump does, and that is obvious. That is why he started the ball rolling.
Since you and some others are so fond of the UN let’s take a look at what is happening at the UN’s UNWRA that just appeared in my email.
“Adieu, UNWRA! Officials from 14 European Union nations finally want to shutter the embattled UN agency after freed Israeli-British hostage Emily Damari revealed that she’d been held by Hamas thugs in the group’s UN facilities during her 15-month captivity.
At least a dozen UNWRA staff were discovered to have planned and participated in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack against innocent Israelis. Reports suggest both Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad embedded terrorists among UNWRA’s senior education staff in Gaza.
President Trump signed an order on Tuesday cutting US aid for the compromised agency over its extensive ties to the Hamas terror group and withdrawing the US from the anti-Israel Human Rights Council. Excellent that Europe is finally seeing the light as well. “
Nah, lets send the Gazan’s to California.
Nothing you said constitutes mandatory legal authority allowing Israel to control Gaza. These are just arguments. One thing is clear— the United States has no authority to kick out the Palestinian people and turn Gaza into a resort town. Another thing is also clear— Muslim countries aren’t going to stand for the US kicking out the Palestinian people and taking over Gaza.
Thanks to your orange hero, his big mouth and megalomaniac tendencies, Saudi Arabia won’t even consider normalizing relations with Israel and MBS has made it clear that Saudi Arabia is only interested in a 2-state solution. And the hostages haven’t even been released yet. Another dumb move.
“Nothing you said constitutes mandatory legal authority allowing Israel to control Gaza. These are just arguments. “
Since when is international law argument? Since when are treaties argument? The entire Middle East depends on the same international law and treaties. According to you there are no borders in the Middle East. Almost all were set through the mandate system. Why do you wish to sound like a fool?
“Nothing you said constitutes mandatory legal authority allowing Israel to control Gaza. These are just arguments. ”
Correct – there is absolutely no such thing and manditory legal authority for the existance of any nation.
You can claim New Jersey is not part of the US if you want. The ultimate reason that New Jersey is part of the US is that if it decides that it is not – Men with Guns will come and thwart that – that is litterally what the US civil war was about.
Today Gazan and the West bank are part of the soveriegn nation of Israel.
Israel has spent the better part of 50 years trying to give the West Bank and Gaza to the Palestininans as their own country in return for peace.
The Palestinians refuse – and so REMAIN a part of Israel.
If Israel wishes to give the West Bank to the US – it is free to do so. I do not think that would be a good idea – especially as no one in the world wants to take the palestinians – NO ONE. And the West bank with the Palestinians still in it is a really really bad deal.
Maybe we just send them to greenland.
Regardless, Negotiating positions are not EVER lies. They are just positions.
Egypt refused to recognize israel …. Until it did.
Will the Saudi’s accept something less than a two state solution ? Maybe not.
The Saudis are a very big player in this – Both Israel and SA want normal relations. Both share the same common enemies in the Mideast – Iran and the Houthis. SA routinely turns a blind eye to Israeli incursions into SA airspace – so long as Iran is the Target. SA tracked and fed tareting information to Israel when Iran attacked them earlier, there are even stories that SA actually shot down some of th emissles and drones headed to Israel. At the level of Governments – SA and Israel today are natural Allies. Israel has indisputably the strongest military in the Mideast. SA has bought an unbeleivable amount of military hardware from the US. They have a SMALL but capable military – but they are NOT up to defending themselves against Iran. Further Iran will eventually have Nukes. That either means that the Saudis must Buy nukes from somebody else – like Pakistan – or strike a defense deal with Israel. Israel has Nukes, AND Isreal has the best missle defense system in the mideast – possibly the world.
As to your claims regarding Trump and SA – you are an idiot – Trump has the best relationship with SA leaders than any US president has ever had. As compared to Biden who the Saudi’s openly disrespected repeatedly. Saudi Arabia is not going to give Trump whatever he wants for nothing. But the Saudis trust Trump – they did not trust Biden or Obama, They MAY trust Trump more than they did the Bushes.
As to a “two state solution” – that is TRIVIALLY attainable. Israel can have that ANY time they wanted – they could just unilaterally give the West Bank and Gaza to the Palestinians.
That is a solution that is becoming increasingly likely. Much of the world understand that The Palestinians can be counted on to F#$K it up.
I would further note Jordan does not want the west bank, and Egypt does not want Gaza.
If Israel said to the Palestinians – HERE is your country – here are the borders you get, it is increasingly likely that the Saudi’s and the rest of the world would declare that acceptable and move on.
There is also a major problem because the Palestinains do NOT want to become a sovereign nation.
That would likely result in an end to the billions in aide they get for the rest of the world – especially countries like Qatar.
Nations are expected to not need the rest of the world to prop them up forever.
Do not underestimate the frustration of other mideastern countries with the Palestinians.
Nor should you underestimate the desire of those countries to thwart Iran. Iran is the source of instability in the mideast – not just in Israel but Lebanon, Yemen, all over.
The collapse of Syria has severely disempowered Iran. That disempowers Hamas.
Hamas will continue to release hostages – or Israel will go back to wiping Hamas off the face of the earth – likely with Trump’s (and much of the worlds) blessing.
you are unbeleiveably clueless regarding everything that is involved in mideast negotiations.
Your also ranting about hostages – Trump got the hostage deal – not Biden.
I know it is impossible for you to admit that Trump is actually good at anything.
But even in his first term he proved that he really was mister “The Art of the deal”
And he is doing so again.
It has been alittle more than two weeks – and we are headed for peace accross the world.
Will we get their day one ? No. could things fall apart – maybe. But even if things went to h3ll – we would STILL be better off than when Biden was president.
You say that the Saudi’s and very important to this.
Of course they are – for ONE AND ONLY ONE reason – Bother SA and Israel WANT to normalize relations.
You say a two state solution is a requirement – that is trivial to acheive.
What is NOT trivial is a two state solution that does not result in a failed state worse than Lebanon
Israel does not want to have to do this again.
The Saudis do not want a two state deal with Israel and then have the Palestinian state fail.
“Nothing you said constitutes mandatory legal authority allowing Israel to control Gaza.”
It’s called a *moral* authority.
When you breed terrorists, when you invade, kidnap and murder — and then lose the war: To the victor goes the spoils.
Guess what would’ve happened to Israel if Hamas/Iran had won the war (that they started). There’d be an Iranian flag flying in Jerusalem.
Interesting piece of revisionist history.
The modern state of Israel was born out of Jewish terrorism conducted by the Irgun.
Palestine was never intended to be a homeland exclusively for Jews.
The Balfour Declaration of 1917 laid out the British policy that Palestine should be a homeland for Jews on condition that the existing Arab population would be afforded equal rights and protections.
After WWII the British attempted to create a state where Jews and Arabs would have equal rights. However, militant Jews were opposed to this solution. They wanted complete control and a purely Jewish state.
The Irgun was a Jewish military terrorist organization. They attacked both the Arab population and the British troops who were trying to keep order. The UN, and the British and American governments labeled the Irgun as a terrorist organization.
The Irgun eventually prevailed and managed to blow up the British military headquarters and the King David hotel, which housed many British officials. At that point the British had had enough. The packed up and left, leaving the Jews and the Arabs to sort it out themselves.
Thus began the violent conflicts between Jews and Arabs that continue to this day.
The state of Israel came into existence as a direct consequence of terrorism waged by the Irgun.
The Arabs retaliated with their own terrorist activities.
The Arabs are now simply doing what the Jews were doing in the 1940’s. It is just a reversal of roles.
This in no way excuses either side for their terrorist activities. Both sides are to be condemned as terrorist organizations.
Don’t try to rewrite history in your own favor.
Your piece is simply an example of the winners writing the history.
What a pack of lies! Israel was created along with another state for THEM, but THEM and all of their allies wouldn’t stand for it and they ALL attacked the new state.
DEMOCRAT Jimmy Carter tried to get them to accept two states but they said no.
DEMOCRAT Bill Clinton tried to get them to accept two states but they said no.
Your side, the side that chants death to America, kills Americans and westerners, doesn’t want two states and so now there will not be two states. You like apples…?
Reasonable, rational, cogent review of historical perspectives anonymous .. . B+
*of course, Meyer’s historical perspective begins with Abraham and Moses 5,000 years ago.
“of course, Meyer’s historical perspective begins with Abraham and Moses 5,000 years ago.”
@dg Slowden: You couldn’t even get the number of years in the right ball park. You are incompetent.
Don’t be coy, Meyer. You know perfectly well what I mean. .. Jewish humor has sustained us for 5,000 years.
Dgsnowden, I don’t care if you make jokes or don’t know when Moses walked the earth. I care about your support of terrorists and your refusal to look at the facts. No one is perfect, but the Gazans under Hamas are homicidal people who kill others and their own people. Their own people voted in Hamas. They teach their young to be terrorists, killing themselves while killing others (there are plenty of videos for you to see), name streets after the terrorists and pay the parents of suicidal terrorist children to make the parents comparatively rich and popular in their community. You don’t discuss these things.
You don’t care. You have nothing to lose. The war is not real to you. It is to me. It is another decade of death to my family members and friends, though today, it is not so much the death of friends as it is the death of my friend’s children. On the night of the massacre, the number of Israelis killed was proportionately close to what the US lost in ten years of the Vietnam War.
“The modern state of Israel was born out of Jewish terrorism conducted by the Irgun.”
It is evident you don’t know your history. The state of Israel was being born before the Irgun existed. They existed because Jews were being killed. To compromise the British split the mandate in two; one for the Arabs (Jordan) and one for the Jews. The other mandates became Arab nations.
“Palestine was never intended to be a homeland exclusively for Jews.”
It isn’t. Most of the land went to an Arab state. If you haven’t noticed, most of the Middle East is Muslim. Try checking a map.
“Thus began the violent conflicts between Jews and Arabs that continue to this day.”
No. The violence began decades earlier. During WW2 the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem signed a pact with Hitler to exterminate the Jews. Take out a history book from the library.
Israel was accepted as a nation with only a fraction of the land intended. With just that spec of land the Arabs attacked so that Israel wouldn’t exist at all.
If you accept Israel’s right to exist then as why they were attacked when it was formed with a tiny piece of land and no oil.
What happened before the British left has no relevance to the founding of the state of Israel, which was really quite simple.
In November 1947, the UN recommended a partition of Mandate Palestine into separate Arab and Jewish states.
The British tried to effect this recommendation.
The Irgun opposed this partition and fought against both the British and Arabs.
The British were caught in the middle fighting both sides.
By May 1948 they called it quits and simply left.
Ben-Gurion then simply declared the state of Israel to exist.
The Arabs have fought against Israel ever since.
Once again, your history is inaccurate. The British had the sole right to divide the land however they saw fit. History always has relevance except if one is uneducated. Most of the other Middle East countries were formed in the same fashion. If you don’t accept the sovereignty Israel has over Judea and Samaria (The West Bank), then you cannot accept the borders of most of the other countries.
“The Irgun opposed this partition and fought against both the British and Arabs.”
The Irgun responded to anti-Jewish violence and Jewish independence. The British were in the middle, and despite favoritism for the Arabs, both sides fought against them. The Israelis tried not to kill. The single act of bombing the King David Hotel was possibly the exception. However, the British were warned to evacuate.
“The Arabs have fought against Israel ever since.”
Ask yourself why. But don’t try answering the question until you understand your history. The answer is written in the Koran and partly in the Hamas Charter. They do not wish the Jews to exist (nor others) and are told to “kill them behind every bush.”
The Palestinians and Arabs attacked the native Jews living in Israel and they defended themselves. More Jews arrived through the affirmative action of community organizers (“Zionists”). The Arab axis powers launched subsequent Jewish Springs to relieve their “burden”. Now the Democrazis hope to finish the job started by the Nazis and sympathetic Muslims. Progress.
S.Meyer, another great comment.
I referenced earlier today trolls, personality disorders, Dark Triad and so forth. Here is one citation:
Trolls just want to have fun
Of all personality measures, sadism showed the most robust associations with trolling and, importantly, the relationship was specific to trolling behavior. Enjoyment of other online activities, such as chatting and debating, was unrelated to sadism. Thus cyber-trolling appears to be an Internet manifestation of everyday sadism.

Estovir,
Great point. I am curious how a troll has the time to be on a blog 24/7 365 days per week. Who has that kind of time? How could they have a career? A life?

# Prof Turley, there are people who’ve known nothing except starvation. For them 1 tbsp of rice more, one teaspoon of rice more, one grain more is counted. One day more before expiration date, the size between large and extra large, one ounce, one slice more….one hole in a shirt less, one can with a dent less, it is endless , endless in need.
Surrender. They sell their own kidneys.
Hope you all have a good day.
Are you talking about the people who’s leaders spent BILLIONS digging tunnels and buying weapons?
The leaders of Hamas are billionaires. That is some of them. They and their families are living it up in the UAE and Europe. Several have been vaporized.
Think about the consequence when a cheaper, lower-risk source of labor becomes available in the form of more illegal immigrants. For legal workers at the low-wage end of the spectrum, it puts downward pressure on their already low compensation. For businesses it means that falling to take advantage of the situation will mean a loss of market share as their competitors do take advantage of it. Who is to blame? The business who do what it takes to stay competitive and stay in business? No, it’s the people who opened the border and committed the greatest crime against this nation in its history.
# Right now it’s about the economics of street drugs. The entry of crack and fentanyl is cash money and addiction means a returning market and crime. The extreme measures being taken are a result of this pushed market. Central America is rolling in the dough.
Latin America is one huge pusher supplier. It has to be done. Do it. That’s the reason and goal.
# If Murphy decided to break the law he should have remained silent? Does he understand a national security emergency has been declared?
As to Kantian philosophy what should he do if police knock on his door asking if he’s hiding a criminal? Anyone want to take the question? Reference Immanuel Kant.
# DJT EO is concerning. It exempts 12.8 million permanent residents. These are foreign nationals presumably with allegiance to the US although not citizens of the US.
In addition there are 10 other categories of temporary visas and no one knows the total because these are not cross-referenced. Another 10 million?
25 million people can and do change an economic system and it’s called economic sabotage.
Of the 25 million what is the number of Presbyterians? Baptists? What percentage is Roman Catholic?
It’s concerning and harboring a cartel member, hamas, isis designated terrorist, there are possible treason, sabotage, sedition, espionage.
USAID has questionable patrons in Jordan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Ukraine and others. Knowing of such crime is also a crime if not reported. DJT has no choice but to close it.
The EO is concerning.
# It’s cheaper to import apples after adding in education, criminal justice, medical, SSI, border, FBI, dept of immigration, HSS, translators blah blah. .
Pay citizens 40 per hour and subsidize the farmer keeping lower prices. At least it’s in-house or just import whatever isn’t mechanically done.
Those apples are costing Americans a bundle. It’s absurd. 1 dollar for a pear and it was imported anyway. It cost the origin a penny.
We’re not going to stop until we make being a Democrat illegal and punishable with imprisonment. Should have happened a long time ago. MAGA!!

And, in a semi-off-topic development, Trump’s policies have forced Phil Murphy to withdraw State financial backing from two off-shore wind projects that Murphy dearly wanted completed. How does that crow taste, Phil? Hmmm, *was* that a crow? It seemed to lack feathers, and was more brown than black…
New Jersey puts brakes on offshore wind projects

Gov. Phil Murphy announced this week that New Jersey won’t be providing financial support for a pair of offshore wind projects, including the Atlantic Shores South project, which was given a green light by the U.S. Department of the Interior last year.
Hallelujah!
People don’t understand Trump’s master negotiating tactics. He never actually meant to invade Panama, or make Canada the 51st state, or take over Gaza. He gets people on their heels by saying things he doesn’t mean so he has an advantage. Promising to bring down grocery prices… it’s a tactic. He got our votes. MAGA!!!
If you read art of the deal you will understand Trump’s negotiating tactics. So now astute foreign leaders know what to expect and how to respond.
You’re responding to a paid DNC troll.
Donald Cay Johnston wrote “Art of the Deal”. He says Trump is a moron.
giggles, his name is David, not Donald. Stop lifting anything you see that seems to support your tainted knowledge. Here is a pic of Johnston. I bet you look just like him but in female body because of your hangup about “fat”
Are you gonna call David Johnston a “fat pig?’ (BTW, I’m pretty normal/thin).

Johnston doesn’t claim to be a “perfect physical specimen” like Trump did or call women “fat pigs” or other misogynistic insults. I’ve seen multiple interviews with Johnston and that’s what I base my comment on.
# There’s a political system and an economic system USA. The economic system outstripped the political system. The government was peopled with average to below average people, seat warmers.
It was easy to corrupt the government. There’s 50+ IQ points difference between the economic people and political system. They’re now going to SCOTUS to be read to asking reading comprehension questions.
Over and out.
Read Art of the Deal ??
Understand Trump’s negotiating tactics????HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Good one !!!!!
The book was written by Tony Schwartz who spent 18 months with Trump doing research.
Here are just a very few comments by Schwartz about Trump:
When Schwartz began writing “The Art of the Deal,” he realized that he needed to put an acceptable face on Trump’s loose relationship with the truth.
“I put lipstick on a pig,” he said. “I feel a deep sense of remorse that I contributed to presenting Trump in a way that brought him wider attention and made him more appealing than he is.”
If he were writing “The Art of the Deal” today, Schwartz said, it would be a very different book with a very different title. Asked what he would call it, he answered, “The Sociopath.”
Schwartz claimed that Trump’s fable of fame and fortune was woven largely from falsehoods or euphemisms the author crafted.
Trump is a “hateful…one-dimensional blowhard” who is pathologically impulsive, “obsessed with publicity,” self-centered and so cold he “pisses ice water.”
“Lying is second nature to him,” he said. “More than anyone else I have ever met, Trump has the ability to convince himself that whatever he is saying at any given moment is true, or sort of true”
‘any reasonable person spending at least 15 minutes with Donald Trump knows that this is a deeply, deeply disturbed man.’
Schwartz believes that Trump’s short attention span has left him with “a stunning level of superficial knowledge and plain ignorance.” He said, “That’s why he so prefers TV as his first news source—information comes in easily digestible sound bites.”
Nothing so delicious as left-wing crocodile tears, especially those of idiots like the above
He’s responding to his own comment, 😂
# He puts investors together developing real estate. The deal is in matching investors…
Traveler: If one understands Trump, one recognizes that one needs to understand the alternatives. Trump is willing to help make the territory of Gaza suitable for living. International law states that countries surrounding distressed people are the ones that should take them in. That means Jordan and Egypt. We all know why they refuse. Those countries don’t want them; they are terrorists. All one has to remember is why Jordan threw them out. This explains why many other countries should take Gazans in (but won’t). The peaceful Gazan is terrorized by Hamas and the war with a desire to leave, but the borders are shut tight by their Arab brethren.
I feel for the peaceful Gazan. They have no place to go due to the likes of Hamas, which some otherwise reasonable people think should have their terrorist activities realize their objective, the destruction of Israel and the death of all Jews.
If the Trump initiative fails, what is the alternative? Gaza is rightfully taken over by Israel, which will have sufficient armaments and support to get rid of the terrorists, which should have been done in the first place. Israel is the legal sovereign over the territory, and whether Trump takes it over or Israel does, peace enters the area, leaving the country of Iran and mop up.
I don’t know many nations who can clean up the mess in Gaza but the US. However, many people and nations would like to have part of the sea in that area and that is part of the deal. It is beautiful. It becomes something similar to settling the west of our country. Who wants land and is willing to pay for the property rights without having sovereign control? That is what developers do. They raise money, invest, and build areas for people to use while making money. Shucks, I’d buy into investing in Gaza’s future, but I am sure many more entities with a lot of money will do it first.
# closing a crack and fentanyl trade is bad for someone? Cleaning up a destruction zone is wrong? Cutting the budget is wrong?
