“Get Violent and Fight”: Tennessee Minister Defends Violence to Stop Trump

Clearly, Dr. Steve Caudle of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga is not the “turn-the-other-cheek” type of minister. Caudle called upon his flock to choose violence in responding to the policy changes in progress in Washington with the new Administration. It is a further escalation of the rage rhetoric from Democratic politicians and pundits.

In a sermon live streamed to YouTube on Sunday, Caudle denounced Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for threatening to “steal” Americans’ information and money, and said that a violent “conflict” will be coming:

“In this nation, I’m worried that we are on the verge of bloodshed. This is an attempt to take us back to a day that we do not want to go, and we will not go. Therefore, there will be conflict. I pray that the peace of God will win out and overcome the madness that is attempting to take over this nation.”

“And I will say to you, beloved: no one likes violence, but sometimes violence is necessary. When Elon Musk forces his way into the United States Treasury, and threatens to steal your personal information and your social security check, there is a possibility of violence. Sometimes the devil will act so ugly, that there is no other choice but to get violent and fight!”

Invoking Matthew 11:12, he added:

“… Why not talk this way? Because Jesus did… Jesus said in this key verse… ‘The kingdom of Heaven suffers — what — violence. And the who — the violent — take it by force. The kingdom of God is a warzone, it is a battlefield. You did know this, right?”

There is a normalization of such violent rhetoric with mainstream figures. The result can be a sense of license for some willing to turn to violent forms of expression, particularly when given the patina of moral justification.

As I have previously written, rage rhetoric has long been a part of our political process. However, when religious figures rationalize violent action, we cross a dangerous Rubicon in the use of such rhetoric.

  1. I would think whether it is a minister or average individual, that advocating violence would bring with it some form of backlash or punishment!

  2. omg! violent rhetotic! from a liberal minister! whoever heard of such a thing? – turley, once again, is earning points as a trump lapdog and is apparantly ignorant of violent white christian nationalist rhetoric that the reactionary lunatic fringe had been advocating literally for years

    1. Sort of like all those braindead college students calling to kill all the Jews? with little or no pushback from the biden administration? Get real or get out of here.

  3. Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, needs your social security check. Are these people idiots? I think yes.

      1. Fourth option, partisan hacks
        Fifth option-on the USAID payroll
Sixth option-agents of the CCP trying to weaken us.

  4. Being low on cash and needing to steal some, Musk spent tens of billions buying Twitter to get Trump elected so he could access the treasury database and come up with a way to transfer grandma’s $695 social security payment to his own personal bank account. (H/t the Bee)

So this genius pastor can’t even read the Bible let alone distinguish between the Kingdom of God and the kingdoms of earth even though every other sentence in the NT makes that distinction. If every member of the audience wasn’t rolling their eyes then shame on them.

PS really “surprising” this wasn’t in the MSM’s headlines yesterday. If Jerry Falwell had said something similar do you think it would have been (eye roll)?

    1. Do you think his desire to shut down the CFPB as he expands into the fintech space with “XMoney” is a conflict of interest, given that agency’s new regulations over digital payments?

      1. Just how dense are you? Musk can dig and dig, but he has no authority to act on his findings – that would either be the President or congress that deals with the exposed rot. This “Musk is after our money to fill his pockets rant” (no doubt the product of scared sh*tless dems), is just ridiculous from the get-go but it can fool the extremely low IQ democrat base. It’s good to see that the smarter dems are fleeing the party now that the true nature of the dem agenda is being placed before their newly opened eyes.

      2. The President did not appoint Musk head of the CFPB but instead appointed the new head of the OMB as acting director of the CFPD.

    2. Actually it was in some news feeds yesterday and I just looked and said “meh” and moved on but one truly wonders as to whether this man has a functioning brain. I’m not sure either party or the even the Libertarians would claim him. Of course the Pope also attacks Trump.

  5. Typical “Pastor” who quotes scripture and then twists the meaning to whatever he needs to gin up whatever response he wants.

Jesus had some very special instructions for these types. Look it up if you don’t believe me. Matt 18:6

  6. Up to half a billion dollars’ worth of food aid may not be getting to the people who are supposed to receive it, even though the Trump administration said it would, according to a report from a key government watchdog.

Who cares, we have a country to wreck. Just chalk it up to the cost of the revolution. So what if people starve. At least trump is good.

    1. The question I ask is why are people on up to $1/2 billion of food aid in this country? Are all of these people truly needy or are many of them professional aid recipients? And prior studies of this ‘aid’ economy have shown the intended target of the aid is only receiving 30% of it, the rest goes to friends and family of politicians = there is huge govy money to be made in the ‘economy of the poor.’

    2. Perhaps if we saw FEMA doing its job here to help Americans instead of putting up illegal aliens in hotels in NYC a few billions in (actual) foreign aid would not have been the target of such resentment.

Perhaps if USAID wasn’t a dark money slushfund for the DeepState, corrrupt politicians, NGOs, and Mockingbird Media but instead was an easily audited benefactor for the world’s poor it wouldn’t have been such an easy to justify and obvious target. Your corruption caused the collateral damage.

Time to halt new H1-Bs and all renewals!

  7. Here’s the true measure of inforwarfare. The honest TV channels report that Musk’s team only has “read only” access to the Treasury’s Accounts Payable database. But, that revelation doesn’t register in the brains of those who hate Musk. They imagine stopping the payment of SS checks.

This is what happens in a factionalized, tribalistic political culture. Facts that should dampen grievances are simply ignored. Why? Tribalism and the social instincts it evokes are not based on logical thinking. They are about defensive, combative emotional feelings.

JT has yet to convince me that letting people let loose their uncalibrated, unfiltered rage somehow works to decrease pent-up anger. What I’m seeing is that rage begets still more rage. It eventually reaches a boiling-over point into violence. And the violence begets more violence.

From that standpoint, free speech has to be coupled with some standards of authenticity, civility, truth and goodwill.

    1. First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
      —Martin Niemöller

        1. Why do you repeat these lies? Right wing entities all across the U.S. are banning books.

Elon Musk, the great first amendment warrior. BS. Say something he doesn’t like and you are banned from X.

    2. Musk’s team did NOT only have “read only” access until very recently. They just showed up at government offices, locked out employees and started downloading information on their own PCs. From “Forbes”:

“DOGE workers have access to employee data from the Office of Personnel Management, essentially the federal government’s human resources arm, The Washington Post reported Thursday, citing four anonymous U.S. officials—the data includes addresses, demographics and Social Security numbers, and DOGE’s access includes the ability to edit employee records (there’s no evidence DOGE staff have edited any records).

Feb. 5 Justice Department lawyers agreed Wednesday to a proposal that would limit DOGE’s access to the critical Treasury payment system following a lawsuit, with only two Musk associates now permitted to have “read-only” access.”

And, why would a computer geek be qualified to determine whether there was “waste fraud and abuse”–that would require a CPA. Even people actually employed by the agencies Musk has invaded do not all have access to the information they have copied and transmitted. You speak of “authenticity” and “truth”–but you repeat MAGA media slop.

      1. ” They just showed up at government offices, locked out employees and started downloading information on their own PCs. From “Forbes”:”
Even if the Forbes report is accurate (not their typical MO), downloading data and read-only access are not mutually exclusive. I can download all kinds of reports, data, other sh1t3 from the internet all day long, and in many cases I can change the content ON THE DEVICE I DOWNLOADED IT TO. But, unless I have full access and edit privileges to the source data, I cannot edit, delete, or otherwise change that data at the source, which is the official copy. Why don’t you try very hard to not comment in regard to concepts that are clearly far beyond the capability of a cretin of your <70 IQ to comprehend?

  8. Seem the latest DNC/MSM talking point is Musk is stealing your personal data and going to steal your SS. Just look how many dupes are buying this load of BS. Funny thing is, more Americans give big tech their data on an almost daily basis.

    1. “Musk is stealing your personal data . . .”

You didn’t tell the rest of the story.

He’s stealing that info to create fake X accounts and Starlink subscriptions. Because, you know, he’s struggling to make ends meet.

      Sam

(How are you able to login?)

    2. Right, just look at an item on the net and within the hour you are bombarded with ads for similar items. I a, more afraid of the guys who run google and facebook than I am of Musk.

      1. Whimsicalmama,
Right. The wife and I were talking about refrigerators one evening. Her phone was in the room. Next day she started getting ads for new refrigerators. I keep my phone next to the radio.

      2. “just look at an item on the net and within the hour you are bombarded with ads for similar items.”

If you are browsing from a PC running Windows or Linux, there are effective tools (VPNs, NoScript, uBlock Origin) to deal with this. If you are using a phone running Android, probably not so much (“probably” because I refuse to browse using an OS that Google has mined with exploits for their own enrichment and over which it has 100% control).

  9. We are the same country that built the Edsel, then turned right around and came with the Mustang. You get everybody pulling on the same end of the wagon with ideas. Not rage.

  10. All I can say is that it is nice to see that Episcopalian Bishops aren’t the only crazies speaking from pulpits!

  11. The depth of the paranoia in the most committed leftists is astounding. On an emotional level, they WANT Musk to
steal personal information and social security checks, to strengthen their grievance list. But on a rational level which is out of reach, they don’t wan’t Musk or anyone doing this. The allegation is based on fantasy, not fact, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

Aren’t you sick of speculative grievances? Is this what free speech is for?

  12. Caudle needs to revisit the “Narrative according to Barack”: “Elections have consequences.”

  13. Of course they want violence as this helps the globalists in their desire to divide the masses while they get behind closed doors divvying up our countries into the NWO 10 kingdoms as this UN document dated July 4th, 2025 suggests!:

    https://www.soulask.com/a-weird-un-document-dated-july-4-2025-has-leaked-online/

These globalists are orchestrating this map from the “Club of Rome” where the globalists planned on countries such as Gaza and Syria being a part of kingdom #7, Ukraine with the Baltics being a part of kingdom #5, Canada with Greenland becoming a part of kingdom #1, and Taiwan with China becoming a part of kingdom #10 since the 1970s which is when this map was drawn up of the 10 kingdoms talked about in Daniel and Revelations!:

Here are hundreds of verses that clearly prove America is the harlot riding her UN~beast described in the book of Revelations:

We just entered the 4th year of this timeline in October of last year so get ready for “great tribulation to commence in the spring of 2025!:

  14. (OT)

District Court Judge McConnell issued a *nationwide* order stopping Trump and DOGE. Then declared that the Trump administration is violating his *nationwide* order.

Here is Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky commenting on District Court judges issuing *nationwide* orders:

“Litigants should not be able to handpick a judge who then can issue a nationwide injunction throwing the entire country into chaos.”

    Where is Chemerinsky now?

    Sam

    1. Just so you know, activist litigants can choose the DISTRICT where to file a lawsuit, but once filed, the Judge is assigned by a randomizer algorithm. This remedy for “Judge shopping” was put into place 3 decades ago!

      Litigants haven’t “hand-picked” a federal judge since 1995.

What’s missing is that Judges sympathetic to the litigant’s cause put off enforcing strict rules of “standing” and “claimed injury” until later proceedings. They accept a speculative grievance in order to issue a TRO.

The Chief Justice should intervene to enforce the need to show an injured party with standing at the very outset.

      1. And just by coincidence they picked the 1st circuit to place their law suit, right?

      2. That would be sensible but I doubt he will do it because he is less concerned with such things than with the precious public image of the Court.

  15. “ As I have previously written, rage rhetoric has long been a part of our political process. However, when religious figures rationalize violent action, we cross a dangerous Rubicon in the use of such rhetoric.”

Religious figures have always done that, especially those on the right rationalizing violence against those they arbitrarily declare heretics because they don’t comply with their views. Demonizing LGBTQ folks and anyone who does not comport to their world view has been a staple of right-wing religious zealots for decades. This is nothing new.

Turley is actively avoiding real issues. Issues like Trump ignoring court orders and supporters calling for the impeachemnt of judges because they are being told to follow the law. The longer Turley ignores it the harder it becomes to defend it. Turley waits for a convenient issue to put forward to his MAGA readers and the legally illiterate and ignorant to rail against the “injustice” of having to follow the law. Trump is running an unlawful campaign to undermine Congress, and while Republicans are publicly supportive, they are becoming worried privately.

    1. Which religious figures do you mean? (The pastor, by the way, is far off base in his characterization of what Christ said.) What the
Democrats in Congress are doing is trying to interfere with the Head of the Executive Branch’s constitutional exercise of authority over Executive Branch agencies. No laws are being broken, except in the fever swamps of leftist imaginations.

  16. Wow Turls, you’re actually going to ignore reality again aren’t you. A preacher symbolically uses a violent metaphor and you freak out about what it MIGHT do…

All while ignoring what releasing and pardoning violent j6ers actually will contribute to the violence profile of this nation…

So maybe the preacher went slightly overboard…, thing is Musk and his doge clowns are doing the equivalent of a Watergate break in everyday. Minimum, the police should be called. A more lasting message might involve tossing a hacker’s shoes over a power line after doing what should be done.

    Party on!!

    1. Watergate was one party breaking in and stealing the other party’s data. The treasury situation is Trump’s advisors gathering data to better understand what is happening with the money at Treasury which Trump was elected to run. Government at the fed level in the executive (e.g., Treasury) now work for Trump. Hiding any of that data from his purview is actually gross insubordination and if spending the money on contravention to Trump’s orders would actually be criminal and potentially treasonous.

      1. Wow, do you actually believe the idiocy that just jumped out of your mouth??? Watergate was a president utilizing an illegal break in of his political opponents. Key words there are ‘illegal break in’….

Because that’s exactly what the doge crew is about. They should be re arrested at every departmental smash and grab they perform.

But thanks for the laugh at your hypocrisy plus idiocy. Every department had an IG doing oversight until trump illegally fired them. Trump has no right to the information he’s having stolen for him and he doesn’t own the budgetary dollars he’s having transferred in violation of court orders.

        1. Thanks Anonymous: as a commentator said this morning–if the orange hog wanted to review the financial workings of the Treasury and other agencies they would use accountants, not 19 and 20 somthing computer geeks. And, there’s no reason to download information and convey it on unecrypted emails. Thanks for reminding the MAGAs that each of these agencies had an IG, whose job it was to review the agency for fraud, waste and abuse. The hog says there’s fraud, waste and abuse–all without any facts whatsoever–so the MAGAs believe it.

    2. Anonymous: Musk’s actions are equivalent to the Watergate break in. Wow, that reasoning is a logical fallacy known as “False Analogy” and renders your post meritless.
