Clearly, Dr. Steve Caudle of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga is not the “turn-the-other-cheek” type of minister. Caudle called upon his flock to choose violence in responding to the policy changes in progress in Washington with the new Administration. It is a further escalation of the rage rhetoric from Democratic politicians and pundits.
In a sermon live streamed to YouTube on Sunday, Caudle denounced Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for threatening to “steal” Americans’ information and money, and said that a violent “conflict” will be coming:
“In this nation, I’m worried that we are on the verge of bloodshed. This is an attempt to take us back to a day that we do not want to go, and we will not go. Therefore, there will be conflict. I pray that the peace of God will win out and overcome the madness that is attempting to take over this nation.”
“And I will say to you, beloved: no one likes violence, but sometimes violence is necessary. When Elon Musk forces his way into the United States Treasury, and threatens to steal your personal information and your social security check, there is a possibility of violence. Sometimes the devil will act so ugly, that there is no other choice but to get violent and fight!”
Invoking Matthew 11:12, he added:
“… Why not talk this way? Because Jesus did… Jesus said in this key verse… ‘The kingdom of Heaven suffers — what — violence. And the who — the violent — take it by force. The kingdom of God is a warzone, it is a battlefield. You did know this, right?”
There is a normalization of such violent rhetoric with mainstream figures. The result can be a sense of license for some willing to turn to violent forms of expression, particularly when given the patina of moral justification.
As I have previously written, rage rhetoric has long been a part of our political process. However, when religious figures rationalize violent action, we cross a dangerous Rubicon in the use of such rhetoric.

No an executive order is a directive from the president to the employees of the executive branch regarding the operations of the executive branch. Within the exlcusive executive powers of the president – it is the ONLY directive that matters.

The fact that 75% of the County is White. Only 20% is Black. The same study shows the opioid rate in Hamilton County is 63% higher than the national rate. STD rates are on the rise in the County–again higher than the national rate. The study does not break down the opioid and STD rates by race. But if 75% of the County is White it is logically impossible for the opioid and STD rates to be confined to just the Black population.
What Squeeky and other racists neglect to mention is the over 100 years of racial discrimination against Blacks in Tennessee–from racial gerrymandering, employment, medical care and education. Squeeky forgets that the KKK was born in Pulaski, Tennessee. The KKK spent decades lynching Black people, burning their homes and preventing Black people from exercising their constitutional rights. That’s why today in Hamilton County 28% of Black people still live in poverty, compared to only 11% for Whites. And this is why infant mortality among Blacks in Hamilton County is six points higher than the White population of the County. It’s all due to systemic racism.
But for racists like Squeeky Black people are just a bunch of “unwed mothers” and drug addicts. And you feed this racism by focusing on a Black minister’s statements. Why do you continue to encourage the worst racist instincts of some on your blog? Unless you are one of them!

Worse still – Obama brough back much of the great society garbage that Clinton had ended – SLOWING the improvement of black families.
Still the upward economic mobility of blacks in the US today is back following the pattern it did prior to the Great Society.

As I was going back over the comments, I saw the Squeeky Fromm comment, and there was a link. I went to the link, and it was over 100 pages, which I did not feel like reading through. But there was an Index, and around page 91 forward, the STD rates were provided by race. I did not try to find the unwed mother rate, but I see no reason why it would not be as high there for African-Americans, as it is elsewhere across the country.
As for the STDs, whites were 2% higher for HIV, than for blacks. On the other STDs, blacks were far ahead of whites and Hispanics. Which again, is simply a national trend as far as I know.

Democrats have done more damage to blacks with their politics of low expectations than any other rubric. This translates into higher HIV rates for blacks. Given how long blacks have been in the United States and have had access to free government provided education, they should have by now excelled as professionals, as educated Americans, and surpassed First and second generation immigrants. However the latter is generally not the case. LBJ created the DNC strategy of low expectations and to throw welfare at blacks who sadly take it instead of applying themselves with the free resources that are available to them to get out of their miserable situation.
