Rep. Goldman: The FBI Investigation of Tesla Attacks is “Political Weaponization”

For many of us who were long active in Democratic politics, it is becoming increasingly difficult to recognize the party as a new generation of foul-mouthed, censorship-supporting, mob-enabling leaders take over. That sense returned this week when Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY) claimed that the FBI investigating attacks on Tesla cars and facilities is nothing but “lawfare” and “political weaponization.” Goldman’s latest controversy captures how Democrats have now entirely cut the cords of decency and moderation that once tethered their party to the mainstream of our society.

Democratic leaders have been fueling the attacks on Musk and his companies, even putting national security interests aside to seek to punish him.

Goldman (and other Democrats) have previously pushed back on criticism of Antifa and left-wing attacks. However, Goldman’s criticism of the FBI task force on these widespread attacks is otherworldly.

Goldman this week declared:

“This is the political weaponization of the DOJ. Trump uses his official authority to defend his benefactor Elon Musk. The FBI then creates a task force to use our law enforcement to ‘crack down’ [sic] on adversaries of Musk’s [sic]. Where are the Republicans so opposed to ‘lawfare’?”

There are have widespread attacks on Tesla charging stations, vehicles, and dealerships, including multiple arson attacks. It is clearly political violence orchestrated against an American company and American property owners, including individual citizens, to push consumers away from buying Musk products and associations.

That sounds a lot like the definition of terrorism. The Justice Department defines domestic terrorism as “Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.”

I have long criticized the expansion of terrorism definitions. However, this fits even the narrowest definitions. It is political violence designed to intimidate and harm those with opposing political views.

The fact that they are lone wolves like Daniel Clarke-Pounder, 24, who set himself on fire after throwing Molotov cocktails, does not change that criminal intent.

The Democrats have long been accused of belittling or dismissing the seriousness of such crimes. That was the case with Molotov-cocktail throwing lawyers in New York who were given relatively light sentences under the Biden Administration.

It is also evident in the reaction to the recent attack on a conservative in the New York subway. There is a sense of license among some on the left in carrying out attacks on those on the right.

This is how rage rhetoric of leaders like Goldman can fuel violent rage in the most unhinged elements of their party. As I previously wrote:

“What few today want to admit is that they like it. They like the freedom that it affords, the ability to hate and harass without a sense of responsibility. It is evident all around us as people engage in language and conduct that they repudiate in others. We have become a nation of rage addicts; flailing against anyone or anything that stands in opposition to our own truths.”

Once released by the rage from the confines of reason and civility, it is easy to dismiss the investigation of political violence as “political weaponization.” In attacking the FBI investigation, Goldman is the very voice of an age of rage.

Jonathan Turley is the Shapiro professor of public interest law at George Washington University and the author of “The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.”

  1. No one has been mentioning this, but the transition of the Democrat Party from a racist mainstream party to a vulgar, emotion-laden, insane racist party coincides in time with the change in former drug popularity of alcohol and cigarettes to the current popularity of pot, psychedelics, cocaine, and opioids. The Republicans tend to be more stoic, either avoiding transformative drugs altogether or using them less irresponsibly. The Democrat Party has basically driven itself insane with all of these artificial nervous-system alterations, and our lax welfare system has helped to finance this transition. The drugs will become safer if we legalize them all so that dealers can compete on private-sector certified quality, and the insanity will abate when drug abusers are allowed to kill themselves or starve and set a bad example that few will follow. Get rid of government-controlled welfare and eliminate the thrill of committing victimless crimes, and drugs will fall out of fashion.

The Democrat Party will be replaced by the Libertarian Party as the number-two party in the U.S. People will be allowed to abuse themselves, but no one will be forced to save them when they become bad examples. See Rock Pig’s book Word from Future to find out how this will happen.

  2. The Colt 45 was called ‘the Great Equalizer’ in the 1800’s. That piece of history came to mind when considering how the world-wide-web, the Internet, has enabled anyone to say anything for any reason and have multitudes of readers read it. It has become the great equalizer of our time.

  3. SPOT ON, PROF. TURLEY… WELL SAID.. YOUR BRILLIANT PERCEPTION AND ANALYSIS IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

    1. What planet do you live on ? Trump has been called every name in the book. What is it that you can possibly do to him that you have not already done ?

He has taken $hit from the left, from media from many republicans, he has been lied about spied on impeached arrested, prosecuted, had his wealth confiscated, and he is still smiling and thriving.

While Trump has not take the full barage of $hit that you have thrown at Trump. he has taken more garbage than anyone else.
You are blowing up his cars, Burning dealerships calling him most of the names you call Trump.
And again he is not merely surviving but thriving.

Please name a single democrat who has taken 1/10th the crap that either of them have.

You can love Trump you can hate Trump.

But calling him fragile is just plane stupid.

If you are this clueless about the people you have made your enemy – how do you possibly expect to prevail on anything ?

Trump knows and understands his supporters, and he knows and understands his enemies, and that is a part of why he thrives.
You fail because you neither know yourself nor those you call your enemy

    2. Musk/Trump are a perfect pair. Each has a big head and a fragile ego.

WELL! That feeble insult will certainly help you build a robust, female Tranny ego!

BTW, you forgot to mention the provable thing they share beyond whatever makes your mangina weep: They’ve both built one man, multinational, billion dollar empires.

While you’re still existing as an unknown internet rando, surviving on the charity of a government soup kitchen in a brown envelope that contains your welfare checks.

  5. George Svelaz, Rubio listened to all your arguments against deporting Khalil. You can now be assured that you made a difference.

Rubio: US has revoked 300+ student visas amid immigration crackdown
Immigration officials have recently turned to the protests on college campuses as part of its crackdown, which some immigration advocates claim violates the First Amendment by stifling free speech.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday estimated that the United States has revoked at least 300 student visas for college students who have participated in pro-Palestine demonstrations.

Rubio said the visas are given to students they expect to come into the United States to receive an education, not one who would destroy U.S. institutions.

“We gave you a visa to come and study and get a degree — not to become a social activist that tears up our university campuses,” Rubio said in a press briefing in Guyana. “If we’ve given you a visa and then you decide to do that, we’re gonna take it away.”

“We do it every day,” the secretary continued. “Every time I find one of these lunatics, I take away their visa. [It] might be more than 300 at this point.”

Rubio added that once a visa is revoked then the student is in the country illegally and must leave or face deportation.

The comments comes as the U.S. cracks down on both antisemitism on college campuses and illegal immigration. Columbia University served as the hotbed of pro-Palestine demonstrations last year, which damaged the university’s campus and saw participants harass Jewish students and faculty.

  6. Roberts won’t act for some reason so now legislators are beginning to get creative

    https://justthenews.com/government/congress/house-judiciary-chair-jim-jordan-lays-out-sweeping-agenda-judicial-reform

I also like Speaker Johnson’s musings about simply abolishing some courts. DC must be on that list.

Not to be left out, Article II, the President, is thinking about investigating the corrupt judicial system.

Some of these judges appear to have serious conflicts of interest.

The lions may begin to feed on the jackals. Already the federal judiciary seems diminished and untrustworthy. We have seen what a woke and untrustworthy legal system is doing to Delaware, giant corporations are moving out and taking tons of revenue with them. They whine in Delaware and promise to change, but I think it is too late for them. Goose, Golden Eggs…Going…Gone.

Roberts could easily have avoided all of this. It was no secret things were drifting out of control. But he didn’t.

  7. The communist democrats, best ever at (D)eflection. My mother used to call them, bald face liars who would steal the golf out of their own mother’s teeth.

  8. From “The Independent”:

“No one wants to talk to Usha Vance—at least no one in Greenland.

US officials have reportedly been traveling around the Danish-controlled territory looking for locals who wanted to receive a visit from the Second Lady, according to a report from Danish TV 2.

    Greenlanders’ response? No thanks.

Residents aren’t the only ones snubbing the Second Lady ahead of her high-profile visit to the island; Tupilak Travel, which is based in Greenland’s capital city, Nuuk, initially said it would host Usha Vance, but pulled out on Thursday.

In a post on Facebook, the company said that the US Consulate called and asked if it wanted the visit, and the company initially said yes, but then backed out.

“After closer consideration, however, we have now informed the consulate that we do not want her visit, as we cannot accept the underlying agenda and will not be part of the press show that, quite, of course, comes with it. No thanks to nice visit… Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders,” the company said.

The cancellation comes on the same day that Vice President JD Vance announced that he would join his wife’s upcoming trip to Greenland.

“There was so much excitement around Usha’s visit to Greenland this Friday, that I decided that I didn’t want her to have all that fun by herself, and so I’m going to join her,” Vance said in a video posted to X.

Vance, the Second Lady, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Energy Secretary Christ Wright are scheduled to depart for Greenland on Friday, though those plans could change by the time the delegation departs.

The U.S. delegation was also scheduled to attend the Avannaata Qimusserua, one of the world’s largest dog-sledding events, but that visit has been cancelled as well, according to USA Today.

As it currently stands, the American visitors will only be visiting the U.S. Space Force Base at Pituffik.”

    These losers can’t take a hint–Greenlanders don’t want them—stay home.

    1. Gigi, You should have gotten a clue when Greenlanders said “Greenland belongs to Greenlanders”.

I do not know exactly how this will play out.
But it is increasingly likely that the big loser will be Denmark.

Greenland has voted overwhelmingly for independence.
That will not likely happen quick – but it will likely happen.

Denmarks easy out is to Sell Greenland to Trump for as much as they can get NOW.
And let the US deal with the pesky issue of Greenlanders seeking independence.

The alternative is to get nothing lose greenland and then Watch the US negotiate some arrangement with Greenland.

      1. What MAGA media is spreading this spin on the facts? Denmark will NOT sell Greenland. Greenland wants nothing to do with the US. They don’t even want JD or his wife to visit there. Greenland cannot “negotiate” for anything–it is owned by Denmark–has been for hundreds of years. More Trump lying, bluster and bloviating.

        1. The overwehelming vote of Greenlanders for independence is not some MAGA myth – it actually happened.

Does Greenland want to be a US teritory – maybe not.
But they overwhelmengly do not want to be part of Denmark.

Can you name a single place that voted by 2/3 for independence from a Euripean nation that is not now independent ?

Denmark may not sell Greenland – but if they do not, they are going to lose it.

O have no idea whether your claims regarding the Vances are correct – it is not like you are a reliable reporter of anything.

I do know that during the election Don Jr. went to Greenland and got a rousing reception.

That is not some MAGA fantasy – there is plenty of video of his trip on Youtube.

I also find it odd that left wing nuts who think that americans must give this country back to the indians, are so adamant that Greenland is “owned” by Denmark.

Greenland wants independence. Are you really challenging that ?

Regardless Greenland is part of North american and part of the Western Hemisphere.
It is not part of Europe.

I would sugguest reading some history – start with the Monroe Doctrine.
That is President James Munroe in 1823 and the then upstart United States telling Europe – the Western Hemisphere is NOT your playground anymore. The US is the world power in the Western Hemisphere and Europe needs to but out.

MAGA 200 years ago near the time of our founding.

Next in 1944 Iceland received full independence from Denmark – Iceland is atleas nominally part of Europe – certainly not part of the Western Hemisphere.

I can not predict the precise US relationshp with Greenland int he future – but I will bet that relationship increases with time.

Separately I will bet that within a decade Greenland is no longer part of Denmark.

Whether you like it or not the writing is on the wall.

      2. John Say

This has to be the mostly stupidly ignorant post you have ever made.

The Greenlanders indeed voted overwhelmingly for independence. You make it sound like they voted for a government in favor of independence and against a government in favor of continued association with Denmark.

The reality is that ALL Greenlanders favor independence, and all 5 parties that contested the election favor independence. They only differ in the planned method and timing of independence.

The election was won by the Demokraatit Party, which is the least aggressive in their plans for independence. They want a very slow, measured approach to independence, and have said that they have absolutely no interest in a relationship of any shape or form with the US.

The biggest opposition party, Naleraq, which was looking to immediately kick off the independence process and forge closer ties with the US, was firmly rejected.

You seem to think that Denmark has the authority to “sell” Greenland.

The only problem is that Denmark does not “own” Greenland.

Greenland is a self-governing, autonomous country that chooses to freely associate with the Kingdom of Denmark, which manages foreign affairs, defense and citizenship.

In 2009, the Danish Parliament ratified the Greenland Self-Government Act, which states:

“The people of Greenland are a people pursuant to international law with the right of self-determination.”

Accordingly, Denmark recognizes Greenland’s right to self-determination, and Denmark has no more authority to sell Greenland to the United States without the consent of Greenlanders than does the United States to sell Puerto Rico to Mexico without the consent of Puerto Ricans.

The only people who can determine the future of Greenland are the Greenlanders themselves.

And they have categorically rejected any form of association with the US.

        1. ATS what part of your ranting is at odds with what I wrote ?
If anything you strengthen what I have said.

You say my post is incredibly stupid and then go one to provide even more detail that I am correct.

Though I note your post is self contradictory.
Greenlanders can not seek full indepence – fast or slow, if they are already independent.

Like it or not Greenland today is the soverign teriroty of Denmark, the growing autonomy you write about is a revokable favor of the Government of Denmark.

Absolute;y – wjhile Denmark has the sovereign power to reassertt full control of Greenland – theyare not going to, and I think we both agree that – Like Iceland before it, and like Europena posessions all ove the western hemisphere – and the globe. Greenland will eventually be fully independent of Denmark.

You claim that relationshops with the US have been catagorically rejected – but in fact the US already has singificant control of parts of greenland – and that is not going to change -whether Greenland is independent or not.

As to future relations – I would expect like some former european posesssions that Greenland will maintain ties with Denmark.
          But I could be wrong.

At the same time – no country in the western hemisphere can avoid having significant relationship with the US.

I have noted before that if a conflict breaks out between the US and China – the US will take over the panama canal instantly NO MATTER WHO IS PRESIDENT. Are you completely ignorant of Operation Just Cause ? GHW Bush invaded Panama in the on Dec 20, 1989, A new president was sworn in days later and Noreiga Surrendered on Jan 3, 1990.

Or how about operation urgent Fury in 1983 ?

Trump has correctly noted that Greenland is a significant national security interest of the US.
Whether Greenland becomes a US territory or just ceded to the US whatever we ask for – makes little difference.
The US has a significant national security interest in Greenland and we will get what we want – whether Greenland is a part of Denmark or not.

The only question is whether the US will overrun greenland in the event of a conflict with some other power where our interests are threatened or we will negotiate to have those needs met before having to use force

          1. Once again John Say rants incoherently about things of which he has no knowledge.

He is clearly listening to the voices in his head again.

You say that Greenland cannot seek independence because it is already independent. WRONG !!!!

You say Greenland is the sovereign territory of Denmark. WRONG !!!!

Greenland is a self-governing autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. The Greenland Self Governing Act of 2009 grants the right of Greenland to declare complete independence if it so desires with the approval of Greenlanders and the Danish parliament. The Danish government cannot revoke the Act and reassert its authority over Greenland without the consent of Greenlanders.

Greenland also has the right to unilaterally declare independence from Denmark without the approval of the Danish parliament.

I think something like that happened in 1776 when a certain British colony simply declared independence.

The voices in your head have apparently informed you that the US already has significant control over parts of Greenland.
            WRONG AGAIN !!!!

As of 2025, the only U.S. military base in Greenland is Pituffik Space Base (formerly Thule Air Base). The 2004 Igaliku Agreement stated that Thule Air Base can be the only U.S. defense area in Greenland and that the U.S. must inform Denmark and Greenland of any proposed changes. Thus, the U.S. cannot increase its military presence without consent from Denmark and Greenland.

You seem to think that the US has some “fundamental right” to possess Greenland whether or not Greenland and Denmark agree.

I guess this opinion comes from your MAGA cult beliefs and your alignment with Russia in terms of its claimed right to possess Ukraine.

Trump’s despotic claims about Greenland are just another example that he is just a wannabe dictator like his BFF Vladimir.

I can assure you that Trump will NEVER gain control of Greenland.

        2. Greenland has a population of 56,000 – that is less than the small city I live near, it is 1/20th of my county.
The have an average income of about 36K/yr they are the poorest arctic teritory excluding Russia with 1/3 the income of Alaskans.
They have a GDP of 3.6B slightly less than the cost of 2 B2 spirit bombers.

Greenland is significant to US national security because of its location on shipping lanes. air routes and because missles from Russia targeting the US east coast will overfly it. The optimal location for any US missle defense system protecting the East coast would be Greenland. Currently US missle defense is split between California and Alaska. Neither of which would be very effective against a missle strike against the east coast. What you think Greenanders want now – even what Greenlanders thing Greenlanders want now is meaningless. because they will change in the future.

          1. Why would the the US need Greenland to defend against Russian missiles.

Why would Trump’s best friend Vladimir want to attack the the US.

Trump has aligned himself perfectly with Putin’s aspirations for world domination.
            Trump and Putin are allies.

            1. Hillary Clinton posted: Why would Trump’s best friend Vladimir want to attack the the US.

U.S. — Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett is under fire for comments made during a banquet in Los Angeles where she referred to Texas Governor Greg Abbott as “that honkey boy in the wheelchair whose legs don’t work no more.” However, Crockett states that her words are being twisted, as she was only blasting GOP policies. “I was only criticizing Republican tax policies when I called him ‘Captain Wheelchair McCripple,'” Rep. Crockett clarified. “Besides, he likes the name. I mean, look at him. He has no legs.” While speaking at the event, Crockett also referred to Abbot as Governor Micro Machines, Speed Racer, and Professor Charles Xavier.

Governor Greg Abbott hit back at Crockett for the perceived slight. “Why someone would insult another human being at a Human Rights Campaign event, of all places, is beyond me,” he said. “I am a human! Don’t let the wheelchair confuse you.” Washington Democrats were quick to defend Crockett’s words, arguing they should be taken as an allegory for how the GOP is crippling the American people. “She’s black,” said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. “It’s impossible for her to insult a white paraplegic like Governor Furiosa.” At publishing time, Jasmine Crockett denied ever knowing “Optimus Roller Wheels.”

Trump won’t like it @ 25% tariffs. It’s bad for business.

    1. Reports are now that Hegseth is kicking himself for not just getting 13 soldiers killed and giving $80 billion in weapons to terrorists, which would have been more acceptable to the MSM. Here’s the full story:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — With lawmakers calling for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to resign over leaked Yemen attack plans, Hegseth expressed deep regret for not instead getting soldiers killed in a chaotic withdrawal and handing $80 billion of weaponry to terrorists. With Democrats demanding answers over how a journalist got added to a group text where top-secret information was shared, Hegseth wished he had provided the Taliban with Blackhawk helicopters so he could avoid uncomfortable questions. “I apologize for not exposing our soldiers to terrorist attacks and giving billions in high-grade weaponry to Islamists hellbent on killing us,” said Hegseth. “My job wouldn’t be in jeopardy today if I had simply handed control of an entire country over to the people who perpetrated September 11th. I promise to rectify these terrible shortcomings to the satisfaction of the Democratic Party.”

Though Hegseth vowed to discover who was responsible for intel being leaked to a journalist, he remained remorseful for not having planes take off while Afghanis tried to hang on to the wheel wells. “As I watch these videos again of bodies falling from the sky, I’m reminded that this was acceptable performance,” said Hegseth. “I’ve clearly fallen short.” At publishing time, Hegseth had attempted to stave off Democrats’ calls for his resignation by building a $350 million dock to give Hamas weapons, getting a soldier killed doing it, and then sinking the dock.

I hope this turns out to be some deep state LKlinesmith type of guy – but I do not expect that.

That said ALL of Trump’s picks should be warry that the other 3M people in the governmetn could stab them in the back at any time.

There is likely a reporter on the Harry Truman who reported with even more detail than Hegseth albeit maybe an hour delayed.

Congress critters are stupid – but the american people are not.

            This is a yawn.

  13. Now Trump is threatening war against Denmark, allegedly in the interests of “national and international security”–something Signalgate proves he knows and cares little to nothing about. Excerpted from ABC:

“Trump showed no indication of softening his ambition to take control of the island, which is an autonomous territory but part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

“We need Greenland for national security and international security,” Trump said, taking reporters’ questions in the Oval Office.

“So we’ll, I think, we’ll go as far as we have to go,” he continued. “We need Greenland. And the world needs us to have Greenland, including Denmark. Denmark has to have us have Greenland. And, you know, we’ll see what happens. But if we don’t have Greenland, we can’t have great international security.”

“WE’LL GO AS FAR AS WE HAVE TO GO?” Is he joking? Does he think the American people will stand by and allow our military to invade a peaceful people and seize their country because a convicted criminal and narcissistic liar decides he wants to seize another country? Another huge point: Denmark is a NATO ally. So, now, is Trump starting a war against NATO?

      1. Here are 3 polls that are not MAGA related:

The most recent poll from The Economist, updated March 13, shows that 46% of registered voters surveyed had a favorable opinion of Trump and 51% were unfavorable.
A Fox News poll put Trump at 49% favorable and 51% unfavorable.
A Civiqs poll updated March 19 saw Trump with a 44% favorable and 53% unfavorable score nationally.

If Trump is so popular, then why are there daily protests all over America, why are so many people picketing outside Tesla dealerships and doing vandalism?

        1. “A Fox News pol” So, now even FOX isn’t MAGA related for Gigi? Maybe she/they is learning something after all.
“why … people picketing outside Tesla … doing vandalism?” they’re being paid to do so.
