Capping Carbon Admissions: The Biden Administration is Accused of Burying Conflicting Climate Change Report

There is a major story developing on Capitol Hill after House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer, R-Ky, revealed that a long-withheld report from the Biden Administration directly contradicted the claims of climate change used to limit increased U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. The suggestion is that this was an knowing effort to cap carbon admissions rather than carbon emissions.

The impact that new U.S. LNG exports have on the environment and the economy was reviewed by U.S. Energy Department scientists and completed by September 2023. It appears that neither President Biden nor Secretary Jennifer Granholm liked the science or the conclusions. Rather than “follow the science,” they buried the report while allegedly making claims directly refuted by their own experts.

The report was finished while Biden was still running for reelection and would have likely enraged environmentalists. The draft study, “Energy, Economic, and Environmental Assessment of U.S. LNG Exports,” found that, under all modeled scenarios, an increase in U.S. LNG exports and natural gas production would not change global or U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. It further found that it would not increase energy prices for consumers.

Biden and Granholm reportedly buried the report and then announced a pause on all new U.S. LNG export terminals in January 2024, citing the danger to environmental and economic impacts.

Comer’s office told Fox News Digital that DOE repeatedly declined to provide this study to the House Oversight Committee or comply with other requests for information.

What is most concerning is that our LNG exports help reduce the dependence on Russia and would have decreased the revenues to that country to support its war in Ukraine. However, critics charge that Biden ignored the national security and economic benefits. Supporters note that we still exported a massive amount of LNG.

When the U.S. ramped up exports to Europe, progressive Democrats like Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., went ballistic. This appears to have worked in shelving the study while slowing demands for further increases.

The Biden Administration later released data in December 2024 suggesting that a rise in exports could cause consumer prices to rise by as much as 30%.

There are obviously two sides to this debate. The problem is that it seems that only one side was allowed to be publicly presented by the delay in the release of the study.

  1. There is a trend here.

Science has become politicized far Left, to the point that papers are not getting published, and studies buried, if they undermine the Democrat narrative. Studies showed that masks had no affect on reducing the transmission of Covid. This result soon became intuitively obvious to many. No one masked better than nurses and doctors, yet they all got Covid. Contravening this evidence, Dr Fauci supported mask mandates.

Climate change is another area absolutely rife with selective bias in what papers get published, reported on, and affect public policy. We have been told the planet would become unlivable in 15 years, for the past 30 years. Even though all computer models of which I am aware have been wrong, it still informs public policy.

  2. I’m glad the Marxist Democrat lunatics have helped to kill the climate change hoax. With the Marxist Democrats going into the streets and pounding toy Tesla cars in the street, we’ve finally seen exactly what the Democrat Party is all about: the promotion and spread of corruption, fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement. And they can’t do anything right. With the Democrat Party leadership applauding the lawlessness in the streets with their anti-Tesla rage, they’ve finally killed the climate change hoax. Good riddance. And I don’t want to hear a peep about “carbon emissions” again from the Marxist Democrat lunatics. They’re all just depraved, degenerate, Democrat-Scumbagwormmeat. (Is there any other kind? I think not.)

  3. When I am out in the fields, I have had time to ponder on this question of GWCC. These progressive CC nutjobs seem to have this idea that everything can be solved with “green” this. And “green” that! That there is some magic solution to get carbon emissions down, all the while maintaining their 21st century lifestyle. If they were really serious about all of this, they would look at their “carbon footprint.” You want to save the planet? Then adopt a mid 1800s lifestyle. But they wont. They cannot stand the idea of not having their Starbucks, frapaccino, with almond milk and non-sugar caramel latte. They would beat a baby seal before giving that up.

  4. What right-thinking person is not surprised? Just like plastic bags for grocery shopping and takeout food. It is clear that any and all info that does not align with the holier-than-thou mission of the eco-freaks will be hidden, altered or destroyed.

I can believe that an increase in LNG exports would not alter global CO2 emissions, if the study concluded that the gas would be burned regardless, either in the US or elsewhere. But I find it hard to believe that there would be no effect on prices. After all, if moving a scarce resource around does not affect prices, doesn’t that destroy one of the pillars of economics, that of supply and demand?

  6. I’m still waiting for the book to come out — what book you ask? The book of lies told by Joe Biden and his ‘entourage’ —-

    It’ll be a best seller!

    1. Speaking of the Book of Lies, comrades Doris Kearns Goodwin and Michael Beschloss will reconfigure the truth to support Karl Marx and oppose James Madison.

They oppose constitutional freedom and support the “dictatorship of the proletariat.”

  7. In the past few days we have seen multiple protests by Hundreds of Gazans against HAMAS.
To be clear – none of these protesters were happy about Israel.
Regardless they were begging fur the immediate return of all hostages and the Surrender of HAMAS – they want peace NOW.

And today HAMAS was publicly executing protesters.

  8. Really a confused position. Certainly Europe can buy more NG and owners can reap benefits but there’s a failure to note this should also lower prices of NG for Americans. In fact, if there’s a surplus of NG opening international sales that glut should lower domestic prices to nickels dimes?

    Article fails to note this.

    1. Another nite: since this glut exists the use of NG to boil water to turn turbines to produce electricity should be lowered to nickels and dimes.

Can u imagine, were still boiling water.. the price of boiling water.

      1. ^^^ there’s a gremlin that changed note to nite and we’re to were and some others. They weren’t there when posted.

  9. For years Joe Biden proclaimed that “Climate change is an existential crisis”. If that was so he would, as did FDR on Dec 8, 1941, address Congress and the American people with clear proof and evidence. He never did and so we now know that there is no such proof or even plausible evidence. It turns out that the physics shows that the result of doubling the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide is 0.7 degrees increase in global temperature – which is negligible. So the whole effort at pushing to achieve “net zero” by 2050 is one giant scam at a huge cost to the US. I hope that the Trump administration makes public an honest cost benefits assessment.

  10. My didn’t we cut a fat hog last Election Day! So, we traded one lying, war mongering, Israel-First regime for a different lying, war mongering, Israel-First regime.
Forcing myself to be somewhat positive, I’ll take the slow of illegal immigration and the deportation of some criminal aliens as a win, even though it would at the current rate of deportation, take 150 years to remove all the illegals.
What a time to be an American!
