Triggered by Teslas? The Left Rationalizes Political Violence as the Fault of the Right

Natasha Cohen, 46, is a New York therapist who appears to be stuck in the denial stage of Kübler-Ross. After she was arrested in the latest case of political violence by the left, Cohen blamed Elon Musk for her actions, saying that she is “living in terror every day.” The rationalization is becoming a familiar refrain as the rise in political violence becomes undeniable. On Friday, New York Times Chief White House Correspondent and MSNBC Political Analyst Peter Baker came under fire for admitting that leftist violence is on the rise, but noting that Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric “might excite people to take action.”

Cohen was caught on videotape (above) leaving a brick with a swastika and the word “Nazi” on a Tesla and dumping trash on the car.

The therapist, who works with children, immediately reverted to one of her clients and blamed others for her actions. This was all Elon’s fault:

“Every time I see those cars, I see Elon Musk saluting the country as a Nazi…I made a mistake because I’m basically living in terror every day that the country is turning into Nazi Germany. I’m truly terrified, because Elon was unelected and they’re deporting migrants without a trial.”

In other words, she is a victim who felt compelled to terrorize neighbors. She is now facing hate crime charges.

In the meantime, a Florida woman joined the ranks of those attacking Teslas with a novel twist. Yamaris Marrero, 45, of Hallandale Beach, Florida, used a “large wad” of chewing gum to cause nearly $3,000 in damage to the EV’s door handle mechanism, police said, according to a local report. She was also charged with a hate crime.

Baker’s comment seemed to follow a series of rationalizations for leftist violence. On PBS’s “Washington Week,” Baker stated:

“On the physical violence part, and that has also been seen on both sides too, of course. President Trump was the target of two different assassination attempts last year. Just this last week, I think the would-be assassin of Brett Kavanaugh was sentenced, I think, in court, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) a number of years ago. But it does seem, at times, that Trump and his people seem to be more willing to use words like traitor and treasonous that might excite people to take action. And I think that’s the worry, what level of responsibility you have as a president, as a leader of this country, to try to tamp down the kind of passions that arise rather than stoke them.”

Of course, President Joe Biden was notorious for describing Trump and his supporters as enemies of democracy while Democratic leaders have called them “fascists” and “Nazis.” That does not appear relevant to covering the rise in leftist political violence.

Politicians and commentators have sought to excuse or explain the growing violence. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., explained to Joy Reid on MSNBC why Luigi Mangione allegedly murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Warren offered a “warning ” that “you can only push people so far.”

Others like former Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz gushed over Mangione as homicidal but hunky: “Here’s this man who’s a revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who’s young, who’s smart, he’s a person who seems like he’s this morally good man, which is hard to find.”

The point is that the people are being “triggered” by others holding opposing political views. It is a victimology that has been drilled into many on the left. They are merely reacting to “living in terror” after losing a democratic election.

We seem to be moving into a type of frenzied delusion on the left. It is reminiscent of the scene from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood where the cult member screams “George isn’t blind! You’re the blind one!”

  1. BIDEN FBI ORDERED “MARYLAND MAN” RELEASE

“THP [Tennessee Highway Patrol] subsequently called the FBI, which was then led by former Director Christopher Wray under the Biden administration. The FBI instructed the THP officers at the scene to capture photographs of all eight people in the vehicle and document its contents. Once the photographs were captured, this source told The Star that the FBI requested THP release all eight individuals and that the THP officers complied with this request. The Star learned that the circumstances of the stop made the THP officer responsible for the stop concerned that Abrego Garcia was engaged in human trafficking, but that Abrego Garcia and his passengers were nonetheless released at the request of the FBI.”

The “Followers” of this Mansonesk cult do appear to want to kill Teslas as though they were Sharon Tate’s Baby, But whom is the Charles Manson figure?
The Network News Media fits the billing perfectly. Using the analogy, one could say Rachael Maddow is Charles Manson or a whole Host of Hosts of others Network Darlings. Adam Schiff come to mind as the perfect Charles Manson, but when you really get down to it, the DNC is responsible for creating this Charles Manson Monster to – Kill Musk and his Tesla Baby Cult.

  3. Americans have been sent all around the world to fight wars for foreigners.

Americans were not put on the border and allowed to fight the Mexican Invasion.

  4. People who choose to destroy private property because they are upset about something would never fight for this country.

They hide behind hoodies & masks using the chosen words of the day; claiming fear and emotional damage as justification. Murkowski openly cries that she’s fearful of retaliation- against what? That answer would be interesting to hear.

if it came down to an actual confrontation, they all melt down in a minute. Lemmings all….

  5. Jonathan: It was another Saturday of massive protests around the country against the dictatorship. And these protests come despite the DJT regime’s attempts to put fear in citizens and non-citizens alike that they could be snatched up and put on planes to a brutal prison in El Salvador. What is remarkable is that all the protests yesterday were peaceful. No violence or destruction of property. Unlike Jan. 6, 2021 no one yesterday stormed a state capitol building or attacked police. So random acts of violence against Tesla cars do not prove there is a rise in “political violence by the left” as you claim

But, yes, citizens are angry and outraged by the DJT regime’s attacks on our constitutional rights and tanking our economy. But they are protesting peacefully. My favorite sign from the protests yesterday was one being held by an old lady in a wheelchair. The large sign read: “First protest at age 93. This sh** is too serious to sit at home and ignore!” And these protests are happening in ruby red states, like Idaho, involving people who voted for DJT.

No, damaging a Tesla car is not the same as we see coming from the right–like Jan. 6 or the recent mass shooting at Florida by a right-wing extremist who killed 2 and wounded 6 others. That’s the kind of violence you should be condemning. But you won’t!

      1. Not so, according to “Newsweek”:

“Organizers of this weekend’s wave of anti-Donald Trump rallies say that over 3 million people turned out at demonstrations nationwide.” And, I don’t know where they got the 11 million predicted number, given that it was Saturday before Easter and there were widespread storms across the US.

    1. Someone tell Dumba– McInLiar that the election ended on November 5, 2024 and President Donald J. Trump won a massive landslide victory and huuuge mandate!

      1. Tom: somebody better tell you that Trump received LESS THAN HALF of the votes cast, that he “won” by 1.48% margin that was largely the product of lying about immediately bringing down the cost of groceries. Also, Tom—he LIED about Project 2025 being his agenda, but that’s what he is enacting and the majority of Americans DO NOT support these actions. Project 2025 had the Executive Orders all drafted up and ready to go. He claimed he would deport migrants who are “violent criminals”, but he’s just grabbing people off the streets who have not committed any crimes, grabbing foreign-born student and is threatening to deport American citizens, too. The SCOTUS said he is wrong. There was NO “mandate” for any of these things, much less a “huuuge” one. He’s also setting a record for dropping approval ratings so early in his administration..

  6. The MAGAs tried to run a campaign bus off the road, they violently attacked the Capitol, they set fire to the PA governor’s residence while he was there, and they shoot up a school. Turley is unhappy that there is minor vandalism to Teslas.

    1. The mentally ill man who burned the governor’s mansion was motivated in part by anti-semitism. I would call him a progressive.

  7. Article 2, Section 1

The executive Power shall be vested in KING JOHN ROBERTS of the Supreme Court of the Juristocracy of the United States of America.

  8. Jonathan – I’m curious what you think of “hate crime”. Crime is crime, but isn’t hate just free speech? Why should a crime be treated more severely because it was associated with or motivated by a constitutional right?

    1. @Anonymous

‘Hate crime’ is being used euphemistically: a crime (destruction of property) was committed, motivated by hate. Legally, the ‘hate’ part isn’t necessarily relevant, the destruction of property part is. If they were just shouting at Teslas or dealerships without physical intervention or altercation, it wouldn’t be an issue. They do not seem to be capable any longer of containing the desire to inflict physical harm.

    2. A “hate” crime is not preferring Americans over foreigners. Americans must prefer foreigners over Americans at all costs. It says so in the Communist Manifesto. That is the law, and Americans must follow that law of the Communist Party that holds dominion in the United States. Begin with, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” America is one great big charity—everything is “general Welfare.” Forget about your personal “Pursuit of Happiness.” Americans must give their money to leeches, parasites, and foreign invaders, per the mandates of Karl Marx.

      1. Typo:

A “hate” crime is not preferring foreigners over Americans. Americans must prefer foreigners over Americans at all costs.

  9. I’ve known a few therapists in my day. ONE of them was a normal human being. You know how they say that power-mongers are attracted to law enforcement? Well, psychopaths are attracted to the field of therapy.

  10. We seem to be moving into a type of frenzied delusion on the left.

    Bezmeov was not wrong.

    Stage 1: Demoralization – ✔️
    Stage 2: Destabilization – ✔️
Stage 3: Crisis – In Process
    Stage 4: Normalization – TBD

Worldwide politics today seems to more closely model the world of soccer (football). And Leftists are the hooligans. The more their “team” sucks, the more violent they become.

    1. #. The left was less capable of coping with chaos because they haven’t any values nor standards. It’s amazing that they think tearing up things and ideas is a great accomplishment and see how clever we are. They honestly believe that.

They think it’s just the rubble of their little war against Christians and white people with their false God when they offer drugs, lgbt, lawlessness to be themselves. The truth is its just rabble rubble.

They went mad with freedom to demonstrate it doesn’t really exist. Perhaps it’s the expression of woefullness, sorrow, unending futility. Idk

  11. Looking at my feed for this site, just two posts down is, ‘When must we kill them?’. These people are simply not well, and it’s that simple. These are not functional human beings, let alone functional adults. This is no longer about partisanship.

There are lots of conflating factors spanning decades to blame IMO (though like another poster, for the younger leftists at least, I’m afraid much of the burden falls directly on modern parenting trends), and I don’t know how you fix that level of affliction other than by changing course and through marginalization.

Past zealotry did not include its modern apparatus (comprised of everything from ideology, manipulative leadership, pharmaceuticals illegal or otherwise, to modern technology) and is completely out of control at this point on the modern left, like a mass psychosis.

Thankfully, in the light of day, it seems at least a slim majority of us have not succumbed. I am not surprised that generations of people that have relegated the fact of their well-being to the state or other outside entities or circumstances feel their reality is unraveling in the face of the threat of personal accountability.

    1. #. It could be a disease like autism afflicting them. I do know the US would not have mentioned the case of Luigi Mangione more than once as a freak occurrence. His name is now famous. Abrego garcia once knowing those in HS are actually competent but then there was mayorkas the liar and destroyer.

      It’s an actual medical disease.

    2. “like another poster, for the younger leftists at least, I’m afraid much of the burden falls directly on modern parenting trends”

I agree that much of the responsibility fails on inadequate parents and parenting, however… Parents of generations previous to the one in focus here were largely spared the need to counter the leftist, amoral (at best) brainwashing that their kids received in public schools before ever having the opportunity to teach them positive traits. Also, during the relevant period, a great many parents were forced by economic reality to each work full-time, resulting in an even greater deprivation of quality family time. One errant, but common, tactic to deal with the time pressure of two working parents was to turn some of the “babysitting” work over to network television, which ultimately just reinforced the bad guidance the kids were getting in school. There seems to be quite a bit of synergy in what I just wrote about, I wonder if any of it was deliberate?

    3. #. Cohen said, when I see a Tesla I see elon Musk with the nazi salute (paraphrase).

MSN told her it was a nazi salute. It’s a concerted effort to produce these violent reactions. She’s been trained to respond to visual images much like the Manchuria Candidate.

      They’re loons

  12. It amazes me that the ‘right’ gets so worked up over burning ‘Teslers’ when the dialogue could be solutions to end school shootings like what happened at FSU this past weekend. Beam in the eye thing anyone??

  13. Hate crimes? Really? It’s plain ol’ vandalism. It’s still a crime and unexcusable, but Turley sure likes to make mountains out of mole hills with these incidents. Elon has not only elicited anger and resentment among Democrats he has also angered Republicans. Did he forget what has been happening at Republican town halls? Republicans, and even Trump supporters are getting arrested and even tasered at town halls because they are being overly ‘vocal’ against the BS Elon has been doing.

Turley’s incitement of rage rhetoric against the left by pointing out and overselling the situation is just as bad. It only takes a brief look at the comments his blog elicits every day. The hypcrisy is damning and hilarious at the same time.

Turley avoids serious issues regarding Trump by writing about these events as if they were bigger than they are. It’s vandalism.

MAGA nut jobs were losing their minds yesterday when the Supreme Court issued a rare ruling stopping Trump from deporting Venezuelan immigrants using the AEA. Suddenly the Court is evil and corrupt even poor justice Barrett is being demonized as a RINO of sorts because she dared to cross Trump.

Turley conveniently forgets that the right has been on a bullying binge ever since Trump came on the scene. We all know what happens when people get bullied too long. Turley calling Democrats reactions as feigning victimhood misses the point and only makes things worse for himself. At some point bullies get beat up. Sometimes deservedly so. The. constant attacks on sensibility and shock and “flooding the zone” with draconiant and cruel measures IS going to produce violent backlash. Turley expects people to be civil in the face of those assaults? Please. Jan 6, was the right’s reaction to their perceived attacks from the left and rhetoric claiming the left was destroying the country. Where was Turley whining about the right’s violence and rage? He waved it off as mere consequence just as many on the right did. They sure love to have their cake and eat it too. But when they push too hard and the left starts to push back they lose their minds. That’s the mentality of zealots who can’t handle criticism and with an inability of self awareness and any resistance becomes a reason to seek revenge. Trump sure has indoctrinated his followers to be just like him. Dictators tend to be that way.

    1. Really funny that Curious George learns everything he knows from the Internet and MSM, then tries to “educate” us!.
He forgets that it was his hero, OBAMA, who used the televised and highly watched State of the Union address to the country, to criticize the Supreme Court as they sat in front of him. Even CNN called it “unprecedented.”
      https://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/01/28/alito.obama.sotu/index.html
It was a better country before Obama, who bragged that he would “transform’ America.

      1. The so called dissenters at town halls are leftist activists. They are not regular folks. This is smoke and mirror drama to shut down real discussion and get a video to put on YouTube.

The leftists do not have ideas, nor do they offer common sense solutions. They have anger. They are angry that their AntiAmerican revolution has been stopped in its tracks and their slush fund has been discovered.

    2. Don’t care how much the Left burns and tries to justify, the illegals aren’t staying.

    3. @George

No, it’s actually destruction of property, and what motivated it, George? Rainbows? Unicorns? Respect for other humans? Pfft.

  14. Biden’s corrupt DOJ made the penalties for being in DC on Jan 6th or protesting at that day so onerous as a way to deter any further right wing protests ever occurring again. With success. The same DOJ didn’t lift a finger to go after any ANTIFA, BLM or Palestinian protesters (even when denying Jewish students their basic rights) for the very same, although oddly enough opposite result which is that these protests would not stop.

Trump’s DOJ needs to make examples of these Tesla attackers and they must do so very publicly AND VERY QUICKLY. They must go after financial supporters and they must go after them hard.

      1. 250 years ago yesterday, in Massachusetts the red coats marched on the colonists. The objective was to disarm the colonists of their guns and gunpowder.

      2. Except that many states have egregious restrictions of firearms use on the law books, with the result that people there are unable to legally use their 2A rights to defend property. In some cases, there are even “duty to retreat” laws that prevent people from standing their ground when under physical attack. SCOTUS received far too many accolades for the Heller and Bruen decisions, they could, and should, have gone much further in defense of the 2nd.

  15. Let’s say for the sake of argument every single thing they said in their defense is true. How are the individuals who most likely took out loans to purchase a vehicle months, it not years before the election occurred make them culpable? Up until Musk took over X Tesla was the darling product of the Environmental Left. On a pure practical level what do they expect owners to do? Drive their car that they are completely upside down on the loan for down to the junkyard and have it crushed? Has anyone established some sort of buyback program? Tesla’s are very expensive vehicles. I doubt even the kind of people who can afford one can’t be out of pocket close to 6 figures and vehicle-less.

It’s just more evidence of the utter childish insanity of the mentally ill wing of the modern Left.

  16. In most cases, I have a friend that is a psychologist, the people that go into that field have problems that they are looking to solve. So it is no surprise to see this individuals actions and expressions.

  17. I read lots of cries for radical change in these comments, yet this started more than a century ago when Woodrow Wilson (our first admitted progressive president, academic and socialist sympathizer) opened our centers of academia to so many socialists fleeing Europe.

We were warned after WWII about the infiltration of communists and we ignored and vilified that messenger.

We are not going to turn around decades of indoctrination streaming from our media/education industry over night.

Destroying/ fumigating media and academia of these radicals is only a start but unprogramming these tools may not be possible – this ideology is baked in to them.

Our problem is how to isolate/negate their poison. We’ve all tried rational discourse and found it useless.

What do you do with 40% or more of a nation’s population that is addicted to their ideology? It’s like treating any addict, they cannot be made to change, it must come from within, and, man, these are empty vessels – there’s nothing inside them but hate.

    1. The kind of mama i would have hours long conversations with. Your children are blessed. Here’s to you!

  18. How did Yamaris Marrero know that a a “large wad” of chewing gum could cause nearly $3,000 in damage to a Tesla’s door handle? Did she make a lucky guess or are there people on the internet providing this information?

    1. This is leftist logic….it doesn’t matter that she knew, it only mattered that she intended to do harm. Check your mental illness.

    2. Excellent deduction, and we have been aware that these spontaneous protest all have the same pattern and pre-made signs etc. Find out who’s bankrolling this and you have either sedition or foreign actors promoting rebellion.

Then what do you do? At this point, even if you had video of a soros-like someone signing checks and giving instructions, these hard-baked tools will not believe it.

We are talking about radicalized jihadis willing to give all for their beliefs – we saw in many wars that Islamiists, kamikazes and nazis do not surrender.
