James Comey continues to hear disturbing messages from shells on the beach.
Comey is facing a public outcry over his posting of shells that he discovered on the beach saying “86 47,” a reference that some took as a threat against Trump. While I have stated that the posting would not establish a viable criminal case, Comey’s shell fetish seems to be having a decidedly harmful impact on the former FBI director. This is not the first time that shells have spontaneously appeared with political messages for Comey.
Back on October 10, 2024, Comey posted a painted shell that he said he found on the beach that read: “VOTE HARRIS” and told the public that “Ariel understands the assignment.”
If Comey is spending his retirement listening to his shells, it may be time for an intervention.
Some have suggested that Comey is merely using shells to convey political messages without taking the responsibility for creating the message. However, that would not fit the image of the man who promoted himself as the paragon of “ethical leadership” despite allegedly removing and leaking sensitive FBI information.
Seashells can be the undoing of many an innocent beachcomber. Some even hear conspiracies to steal the Declaration of Independence.
Let me begin by saying that I am not a fan of James Comey. I think he was one of the worst of the worst and the media, what media there are, has never really looked at just how pathologically sick he is. In his undercover days on Twitter he took the pseudonym of Reinhold Niebuhr, a somewhat obscure ethicist and minister who believed weird things like collectively man is evil but individually there can be some among us that can make a difference. Comey wrote an undergraduate paper on Niebuhr, praising him as a brilliant thinker. Comey at times is a reflection of Niebuhr’s deepest thoughts, some of which are truly whacko.
Having said that, I grew up in NYC where bartenders always used the expression, “86’” to denote someone who was temporarily or permanently barred from the saloon for misbehavior. It was a no-appealable sentence and the person upon whom it was imposed served it dutifully because he had no other way of ever rejoining his saloon pals if he rebelled. Occasionally, you might hear someone in the bar ask, “hey, where’s Paddy or Mike?” Someone else or perhaps the bartender would reply, “He’s been 86’d.” It was universal bar language, like the bartender knocking on the bar after every third drink (which was free and called a “buyback”) and saying “good luck!”
Has 86 taken on a new meaning of late? Perhaps. Does it mean what many are saying it means? Only if it’s been reimagined, as the left might say, to mean something far more sinister than its original meaning. Either way, Comey aka Niebuhr, is not off the hook. He’s given us something to ponder while at the same time reassuring us that he should never again be placed anywhere near our government. Let him go off into the sunset and write his love letters to himself in the sand.

I hate to give him the benefit of the doubt too, and it doesn’t change the fact that he lied (again) about a manufactured stunt. But as a younger man I worked at a club notorious for banning people for any infraction, and it was referred to locally and colloquially as, ‘The 86 Club’.
This was a knee-jerk reaction, I doubt many people even know the origins of the phrase themselves as it’s more prominent in our lexicon as meaning, ‘kicked out’. I guess we can take comfort in the fact that numbskull Comey, clearly not half as smart or erudite as he clearly thinks himself to be, was unaware of the etymology himself. 😂 The emphasis should be on his empty-headed narcissism and gaslighting, though to be fair, the feds were investigating people for far less during our recent blue years.
As an aside, during covid, there actually was a real, live, actual person putting small stones on doorsteps in our neighborhood that were inscribed with (handwritten), ‘I want my freedom back!’. *That* was real, and the stone still sits on my bookshelf; it always will.
James: I agree with your somment. When you have a shattered reputation like Comey, it doesn’t require much for you to step in it again. Few will give him the benefit of the doubt on this or anything else. Come to think of it, he’s a man without a country having successfully engineered Hillary’s collapse and then trying to Russiagate Trump. I personally think the guy dances on the grape a bit too much.

“86” At least in NJ, “86” originally was food service slang for a menu item that became unavailable, usually because a needed ingredient was used up. Cook to waitress “86 on the lobster bisque”. Removal was nearly always temporary, which might be noteworthy. I don’t doubt that the meaning could have generally been co-opted over time, and quite possibly specifically by someone making a movie or TV show about organized crime.
Ask anyone in the military what it means – end of story.
Sea Shells are the means used by the DNC to communicate with James Comey. For exampe, they told him that “no reasonable jury would convict Hillary Clinton of mishandling classified documents.” No fingerprints are left behind.

Geologists said it was impossible for rocks to have appeared on the beach naturally in such a formation, noting that rocks are not capable of speaking English. “They speak rock language, everyone knows that,” said associate geologist Dominique Fordquilt. “Nice looking rocks, though.”
At publishing time, Comey was forced to delete the Instagram photo due to the backlash and replace it with what he claimed was a natural formation of dead fish washed up on the beach that spelled out “I’M SORRY.”
I believe it would be a criminal offense since the 8647 message was posted on social media EXACTLY 8,647 days from 9-1-1. That is NOT coincidence.

Professor, you are starting to sound like those of us who argue it out in your peanut gallery. I think Mr Comey (that paragon of ethics) did have an intervention by the Secretary Service. He needs to make sure that he keeps all his shells in a row (or is that ducks) and he should also remember that often a shell is just a shell. It is certainly safer that way for both him and the nation.
Mr Biden spent his presidency on the beach in Delaware and lost whatever remained of his mind. And then had a 5 hr interview with special counsel Hur that has now become a top 10 tune on ITunes.
Or maybe Mr Comey thought the ocean would be impressed by him and would recede at his command. Either way, he should look elsewhere than the beach for his comments on politics and ethics. It has been 8 years since Trump fired him and he needs to move on.
His was a bit part in a larger story and his 15 minutes are over even as the nation and the larger story continues on.

This business with Comey is heart-warming. He who once commanded almost unlimited power, is now reduced to “finding” seashells on the beach and popping a picture on Instagram, then taking it down almost instantly. Comey, McCabe, and Strzok once had everything they dreamed of, running the FBI. They thought they could bring down a President. Not so. Centuries ago, they would have been summarily executed in the palace dungeon. Now relegated to guest spots on CNN, MSNBC, etc. you can see the torture and emptiness they live by. Heart warming.

James Comey threats, even with sea shells, which he claims he found, sure he did? should be investigated and CHARGED and thrown in JAIL, just as others who have threaten Presidents. NO Clemency. Comey and friends since 2015 have plotted and tried to imprison Donald Trump. Comey is part of the Washington Elite who hate Trump and would do anything to throw him in Jai. Comey and friends ruined the FBI and turned it into going after Parents and Catholics and those who are against the Elite/Globalist.
This needs to be used as part of case against Comey that will get him to turn states’ evidence evidence against Obama and Clinton.
