“Hatemongers, Homophobes, Fascists, Racists, Flag-Waving Proud Racists”: Fired Radio Host Has Meltdown Over Cubs Infielder Matt Shaw Going to Kirk Funeral

Dan Bernstein is back with a vengeance. Just last year, the sports radio show host was fired after a tirade against critics that led to his threatening to doxx people on social media and asking “want your kids involved?” He later apologized, but is now again in the news with another vicious attack. This week, Bernstein denounced Chicago Cubs infielder Matt Shaw for going to the funeral of Charlie Kirk, who was the victim of a political assassination. Bernstein called anyone attending the funeral effective Nazis and mocked Shaw for his expressions of faith in connection to Kirk.

I rarely respond to the hatemongers who seek attention by out-trolling competitors in this age of rage. However, as a lifelong Cubs fan (and the person conclusively shown to have ended the Billy Goat curse), I wanted to respond to this diatribe.

Bernstein’s meltdown has all of the classic elements of liberal rage, including calling anyone with opposing views a fascist or racist. There is a race to the bottom as figures like Jennifer Welch out-hate the competition, even attacking the widow of Kirk. In “an age of rage,” the loudest lunatic is king.

Figures like Welch traffic in hate to feed rage addictions.

Nevertheless, the competition can be stiff, particularly in running out of people or things to call fascist or racist.

Bernstein is now not just attacking Kirk and anyone who attended the funeral or a rally. The idea is to curry favor with the enraged left while intimidating anyone who holds views different from your own. Bernstein went into a full rave on his podcast, declaring:

“Matt Shaw is telling you something,. I don’t want to hear any mealy-mouthed explanations when he’s asked about it. I don’t want him to say, ‘Oh, well, I’m just his friend, or this is just because of my faith.’ Don’t give me any of that bulls—. Own it. Own it. That’s all I ask. Embrace it. Be proud of it, Matt Shaw. That’s all I ask is don’t try to say this isn’t what this is.

If you want to go to a gathering that tells me clearly that you are proud to be among hatemongers, homophobes, fascists, racists, flag-waving proud racists. If these are your people and this is your thing, and you want to be at this proudly Nazi-adjacent pep rally, go ahead. Go ahead. Have a day, man. Have a week. Whatever blows your hair back.

And if you have been given permission to associate the Cubs brand, all things Chicago Cubs, with this lineup of horrible, horrible people, all standing proudly on the wrong side of history, go ahead. Just don’t pretend you’re not. Don’t try to ameliorate it. Don’t try to soften it. Stick that chin out like it is in the picture, you and your Cubby Blue, and own it.”

This is all in response to a person going to a funeral and speaking about his shared Christian faith with Kirk (who was also a Cubs fan).

The hatred of the left for Kirk was and is pathological. I learned that Kirk was killed as I was about to discuss my book on free speech and rage in Prague. I was devastated but not surprised.

The left despised Charlie because he shattered their pretense of tolerance. He worked on college campuses, considered the bastion of liberal orthodoxy. He simply invited people to debate him on these issues. The response was often violent or profane. The whole point of orthodoxy is that there is only one correct answer and it is compliance, not conversation, that is demanded.

After Kirk’s murder, there was a brief period during which people muttered about how violence is never the answer. Then the rage returned like a tsunami of hate. Many, including on my campus, said that Charlie “asked for it” and rationalized Tyler Robinson’s actions.

Yet, Bernstein may win the race to the bottom. He is attacking someone for mourning the murder who has “permission to associate with the Cubs brand.”

Like many on the rage scale, Bernstein does not tolerate opposing views or criticism well. When people mocked his posting of a large catch on a fishing trip, Bernstein went berserk, telling one critic, “Wanna fight? I’m a bad enemy, f***er.”

When a critic continued to attack him, he labeled the person as MAGA and reportedly raised his children as possible targets of his wrath in a series of tweets:

“Want your kids involved?”

“Up to you’, then, ‘Just say “I’m sorry for being a d**k,” and I’ll stop”

“I guess your cowardly silence is ‘I’m sorry for being a dick.’ Cool. You MAGA worms are so lame.”

Eventually, Windy City radio station 670 The Score wanted nothing more to do with Bernstein.

He now has a podcast where rage can thrive unimpeded.

As a Chicagoan, I have little doubt that Bernstein will have great success in injecting this type of hate directly into the veins of many in the city.

As for Shaw, he should know that there are plenty of us wearing Cubbie Blue who value not just his playing but his principles. He is a decent young man who has shared his faith with fans as a strength in his life.

In comparison, Danny Bernstein is a fired radio host who could not handle criticism after bragging about “a helluva fight” with a northern pike.

Consider the bright side. The team had a strong season and is picking up some good pitchers for 2026. You could be headed for the playoffs when Danny Bernstein will still be slinking back to his podcast.

  1. Voters want Moderates

The poll showed that American voters across party lines say both parties are doing a poor job. The poll revealed that 45 percent of those surveyed said Democrats are doing a poor job representing them, while 50 percent shared that sentiment about Republicans.

A majority of those polled said both political parties have become too extreme. Among those surveyed, 56 percent said the Democratic Party is too liberal or progressive, while 60 percent said the Republican Party has become too conservative or right wing.

This survey, from Voto Latino, suggests Americans are sick of both Trumpers and Bernie Bros. Most of us would love a return to some form of normal. If only we can get back there; back to sane America.

  2. “hatemongers, homophobes, fascists, racists, flag-waving proud racists.”

Here’s the thing. If those people find a message to be a compelling one that doesn’t contradict their feelings on the matter, it’s just possible that the bringer of that message thinks the same as they do.

What is truly hilarious and tragic is that nothing that Kirk said was Christian. Imagine Christ saying that the right to have guns was worth a school or mass shooting from time to time. Christ is recorded as performing deeds, showing kindness to people. Kirk was a front man for billionaires to convince naive college students to support the billionaires by supporting the Trumplican party.

When one calls what Kirk did “debate,” that really oversells that he simply manipulated beginner “debaters” into pre-calculated paths and, often, away from the initial point of discussion.

One of his best ploys was to divert the interaction with some biblical reference. If the mark responded in any way to that with either an interpretation or even an exact, memorized quote, Kirk would always say “That’s not what it says,” end then end the interaction with a smug look, as clearly if Kirk says it, it must be true. The ploy was that Kirk, so deeply religious, did not bring a Bible – this was purposeful so that no one could ask Kirk to fact-check himself. Since this tactic was mainly used on absolutely non-religious questions, the questioner would not think to bring a Bible. For example, if the question was tariffs, Kirk would bring up some Bible passage about money, moving it from an economic policy argument to a Bible and the old “God is on my side and therefore I am right” argument. Then Kirk could dismiss most any response as either not being Bible based or claiming it’s not what is written in the Bible.

It’s quite an advantage to be a participant and the sole referee in a competition. Being Judge, Jury, and Defendant makes it not a debate. The key is to have a public gallery of people who want you to win and you do that by only showing up when there is a fan club already established who made the invitation, a fan club that is someway financed and supported by the billionaires. Somehow, in 2024, TPUSA took in $84M and spent $80M. Where did the money go?

    1. Still wishing fascists would have won the election instead of President Trump! Too bad, so sad! You’re extremely ignorant regarding Mr. Kirk and Christians!

  3. The rage here is grounded in fear, which explains the closed mind and over-the-top emotion. It’s a reaction not unlike that exhibited by family members jolted by the news of the passing of a loved one. “No, no, it can’t be” — the reflexive, temporary rejection of information too terrible to rationally process. What Bernstein demonstrates here is the pathetic state of his mental health. He needs treatment, not a podcast.

  4. It’s hard to imagine the level of hate, narcissism, and mental pathology that could lead someone to denounce someone else for attending the funeral of an innocent victim of murder and share his Christian faith. People, we are seeing demonic spirits at work in these TDS patients.

  5. “Americans Must Give Their Country and Their Prosperity Away”

    “It’s The Law, Apparently.”

I’m an American. My ancestors first arrived here in 1607. I want my country invaded, conquered, and taken over by people who are not Americans and were denied citizenship and various and sundry other foreigners and illegal aliens, past and present. I want foreigners and illegal aliens to vote in my country. I want to give all my money and private property to parasitic foreign invaders as “free stuff,” “free status,” welfare, affirmative action, and governmental taxpayer charity. I want to give my country away. Those are my deepest longings and greatest desires as an unhyphenated and patriotic, actual American.

  6. Unbalanced people like Bernstein are a “danger to themselves and others.” There’s my argument, we need to reopen mental institutions. None of this ranting is at all normal. No, we don’t use mental hospitals like the Soviets did, to put away and mistreat those who push back on communism and the government. The danger is Democrats in power will use them exactly like that just as they abused and misused the Patriot Act. And got away with it.

    1. It would be helpful, true, but don’t forget; modern psychiatrists say that a man calling himself a woman must be believed and accepted!

  7. Prof. Turley.

You do the country a service by shining the spotlight on these people.

That is what they want – and they should get it.

We see the same from many posters commenting here.

Insults and rage are all you get from todays left.

    Not an argument is sight.

Often rages agains made up, false or manipulated naratives.

All of us on occasion say stupid things. The more frequently you speak in public the more likely you will say something that can be painted quite differently out of context.

Defending free speach ALWAYS means defending speech that some find repugnant.

With respect to this idiocy regarding Kirks funeral

Ruth Bader Ginsberg was Freinds with Anonin Scalia, They socialized together. She not only attended his funeral, but gave a eulogy there.

    That is decency.

Threatening peoples family over attending a person assassinated by the lefts funeral is repugnant.

Threatening family for any reason is repugnant.

The most file people are those who threaten other peoples family.

One of the turning points for me on the Flynn case was that Gen. Flynn was prepared to fight and FBI/DOJ that was bankrupting him – until they threatened to go after his family. His plea deal was specifically to protect his family.

The people in the DOJ/FBI who threaten peoples family are scum.

    1. John Say, so those going after Hunter Biden were threatening Biden’s family. Republicans attacked Biden’s family in their quest to pin crimes on him.

      You didn’t find that repugnant?

      1. “Whatabout” other exaggerated/fictional leftist propaganda??? The contortions you go through to ignore John Say’s points are simply tiring.

    2. John, it;s not spelled “file people.” It’s “phile people,” as in people who love to threaten other people’s family.

Just kidding. Your terrible spelling sets a shockingly low standard and makes for a continuously renewed discounting of your opinion.

“The people in the DOJ/FBI who threaten peoples family are scum.”

Thanks for supporting the immigrants against the ICE members who threaten families and take productive members from America, some who have contributed for decades, brought here as 3-4-5 year old children. It is rare to see such enlightenment.

  8. *. The key word is “pathological” as PT recognized. The hate and destruction are compulsions. They are automatic responses that cannot be restrained. This is part of the vice hate. Vices seek evermore destructive power.

    So it is…

    1. ^^^^*. I think the programming of minds, brains is happening via media. I’m not sure how it works perhaps hypnotic cadences or subliminal messages but it’s pervasive left and right.

The way to free yourself is to turn it off whether it’s Sean Hannity or Jennifer Welch.

      God help us all…

These are the dreams of serfs and slaves and obsessive with the bubble butts fetish.

BIZARRE. People are killing and or committing suicide.

      Tragedy.

  9. Grace: “Oh, he’s very popular, Ed. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wasteoids, dweebies, dickheads — they all adore him. They all think he’s a righteous dude.”

    1. @Anonymous

😂 Not sure what your intentions are, but speak for yourself. That’s about as good as (overheard from a rabid progressive media intern elsewhere – don’t kid yourselves about their intentions), ‘It doesn’t matter what you do. *We* control the narrative.’. Uh-huh. 😂

  11. “HARMONY IS ALL-IMPORTANT, A DISCORDANT INTERMIXTURE MUST HAVE AN INJURIOUS TENDENCY”

“The influx of foreigners must, therefore, tend to produce a heterogeneous compound; to change and corrupt the national spirit; to complicate and confound public opinion; to introduce foreign propensities. In the composition of society, the harmony of the ingredients is all-important, and whatever tends to a discordant intermixture must have an injurious tendency.”

    – Alexander Hamilton, The Examination Number VIII, [12 January 1802]

  12. According to Axios, after Bernstein was fired, “He didn’t blame The Score for the firing, instead expressing gratitude for the opportunity for a mental health reset.” I think it might be time for another. To have that kind of meltdown over someone going to the funeral of a murdered friend is most definitely the sign of bigger issues.

  13. As a Chicagoan and a Cub fan it really brings back memories. I was in Skokie at the time of the planned Natzi march decades ago that eventually the courts stopped by revoking their permit to march. It was ugly and scary. At the same time the Cubs had a great pitcher who was of the faith Kenny Holtzman. I remember watching him throw a no hitter against the Braves. I pray the hatred I saw in Skokie will not be accepted on a podcast but rather the joy of Kenny will shine light.
