“And May All Your Christmases Be [Woke]”: Liberal Pundits Come for Santa and Other Holiday Traditions

“And may all your Christmases be [woke].”

As Santa prepares for his harrowing journey around the world, he is being closely pursued by liberal commentators protesting his race, gender, and capitalist leanings.

The perpetually outraged have finally come for Christmas.

One columnist at Slate called for Santa to be replaced by a penguin due to his race. Aisha Harris admitted that she was being a bit cheeky in pushing the penguin substitute but sought to express “my real concern that America continues to promote the harmful idea of whiteness-as-default.”

From the remaking of Nativity scenes to renaming Christmas trees, it seems like every aspect of the holiday must be subject to a political litmus test both in the United States and around the world.

Back to Santa. The British Brighton and Hove Museums have been the focus of this debate over the reposting of an earlier column by the museum’s Joint Head of Culture Change, Simone LaCorbinière, who explained that the traditional Christmas simply will not do with a Santa who is “too white, male” and a colonizer of elves.

I suppose that when you use public dollars to hire someone who will serve as “Joint Head of Culture Change,” it was only a matter of time before they came for Christmas. After all, the idea is that the British culture must generally change, right?

In a 2023 column titled Decolonising Father Christmas, LaCorbinière warns that Santa is “too white, male” and the traditional story “presents Santa as the ultimate authority of all societies. This asks us to accept colonial assumptions of cultural superiority. It doesn’t recognise the complex realities colonised people face.”

She expresses horror at the fact that Santa is “an old white man [who] supervise[s] the elves’ work.” We can put aside that Santa was identified in “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (1823) as a  “chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf.” LaCorbinière portrays him as a heartless white capitalist living off the labor of a captive elf workforce. She calls for “Santa to work in the factory alongside the elves.”

Changes must be made, according to the museum, to decolonize Christmas and break away from holiday images that are “white, male and non-disabled”:

“This perpetuates the harmful ‘colonial gaze’. Non-Western cultures are ‘othered’. It says that the coloniser has the power to judge all people. And it ignores many communities’ histories and traditions. Telling the story like this teaches new generations that the coloniser knows best.”

Santa is not alone.

In the meantime, NPR noted White Christmas has racist undertones, while Joy Reid has declared Jingle Bells to be a racist song.

Even “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a “bigoted” story fed to the populace to reinforce capitalist and racist values. Professor James Deaville warned recently that “while some viewers see the ending as affirming community, the film also keeps George partly ignorant of how the forces of inequity are actually operating in his largely white community.”

They are the self-flagellants of the holidays, moving through Christmas markets (which are also fascist traditions) with Gregorian chants of guilt.   Here are some enlightened carolers seen recently spreading “Tidings of Great Joy [Reid]” for the holiday:

Clearly there are many liberals who still enjoy the holidays without the need for self-affirming declarations of outrage or disgust.  However, for some on the left, there is little joy in Christmas without identity politics and white guilt. So the more the merrier and, as Tiny Tim declared, “God bless us, every one!”

  1. Sadly to most Christmas is no longer a religious holiday but a secular holiday about consumerism that has nothing to do with Christ.
I would think all you liberal Commies out there would be overjoyed by that, but all you can do is still whine and complain.

Merry Christmas to you. Try going to church and finding out the true meaning of Christmas and your life won’t seem so miserable to you then and you can stop trolling.

  2. They do realize that the whole North Pole, packages made by Elves for every kid in the world, delivered by Santa, flying in a sleight pulled by Rudolph and a few of his friends are fictional characters created by Clement Clarke Moore for the entertainment of children . . . don’t they?

  3. If you’re an American with food and a home, you’ve won life’s lottery. Be thankful for your good fortune this Christmas, and perhaps say a short prayer of gratitude to the Almighty.

      1. To answer your question: Not sure what the “almighty”–with a lower-case “a” is–but the “Almighty”–with a capital “A,” as in the response you responded to–refers to God.

  4. “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.”

    – Abraham Lincoln
    ______________________

Lincoln is the inflection point at which the Constitution and American freedom were mortally wounded and began their incremental descent into the era of Lincoln’s fellow traveler, Karl Marx, wherein they were subsumed by the Communist Manifesto.

Take a good look around you, comrades; look at the regulations on every aspect and facet of life in America and the infinite agencies, departments, and ministries, all of which shall not exist per the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

If ever America is to be recovered, everything Lincoln must be rescinded and abrogated in its totality and in perpetuity.

  5. What we describe as a “woke” mindset is really a derivative of Marxism. What Marx introduced into Western culture was the vision of society divided into oppressors and oppressed, one of which must destroy the other. The modern American Left accepts that viewpoint, but they have arranged the groups by race rather than property rights.

    1. A derivative, you say?

“From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs,” or “Marx’s Maxim,” is the full and complete taking of property and control of society.

The Constitution confers maximal freedom upon individuals while severely limiting and restricting government, primarily through Article 1, Section 8, and the absolute 5th Amendment right to private property.

The singular American failure is the judicial branch, with emphasis on the Supreme Court, which supports not the Constitution but the Communist Manifesto.

        1. Evidently, CC stands for “I have never read Article 1, Section 8, or the absolute 5th Amendment right to private property,” both of which cause the entire communist American welfare state to be irrefutably unconstitutional.

Now that’s supporting the Constitution; you are so right!

Alternatively, it constitutes supporting Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto.

    2. Edward, how odd. It’s like the heavily armed Europeans didn’t arrive and oppress the people living in North, Central, and South American and then went and oppressed a bunch of people from the continent of Africa to force them into heavy and damaging labor. Western society has been socially divided for centuries.

Clearly conservatives believe in mass murder and torture as a way of life and really hate it when what they love pointed out to them.

    1. When is someone just going to say something nice? I hope all of you have something to be grateful for. Just take one day off and pet the dog.

    2. Keith
Why do you and Turley insist on using Europe to extrapolate to your attacks on “leftists” in this country ???

You claim that there are “MANY” other examples of this trend, but the Fox article you link to gives precisely TWO examples, one of which is the example cited above by Turley from Britain.

The other example is from Belgium where only 30% of people self-identify as cultural Christians, and only 9% of them are actually practicing Christians. Belgium is one of the most secular countries in the world with 60% of people identifying as atheists or agnostics with no religious beliefs whatsoever. It is hardly surprising that the Belgian people want to “tone down” the religious aspects of Christmas.

So your attempts to somehow use examples of criticism of Christmas in highly secular European countries to attack “leftists” in the US is completely pointless and just as stupid and puerile as Turley’s comments here today.

      1. ATS – Are you and the rest of your ilk fine with Christmas or not ?

You say that Keith has only a few examples.

Are you saying this really is not a problem and your fine with Chritmas as it is ?
Or are you pretending the problem is small and the rest of us should ignore it while you yourself are part of the problem ?

Honestly I do not care if you wish to create new christmas traditions – just leave others with their old ones if they wish.

Enjoy christmas – in the spirit of christmas – maybe do something for your fellow man. Give a homeless person a blankey or a meal.
If you personally want to have black santa come down your chimney – Fine.

But yes, I have a problem with a Minister of “whatever the F#$K” talking about decolonizing christmas.

The rest of us are tired of this deconomizing Schiff nonsense.
The US was a british colony. Now we are the worlds only superpower.
Being a colony worked well for us until it didnt – and then we decided to be our own nation not a colony.

The US is not looking for Reparations from the UK.

  6. Turley, “There’s so much partisan rage in our country these days!”
Also Turley, “Look at how those Liberals are ruining Christmas!!!”
Also Turley, “PLEASE BUY MY BOOK ON THE AGE OF RAGE!” WE MUST FIGURE OUT WHY IT HAPPENS! SEND ME MONEY!”

      1. His monstrosity is perpetuating antithetical communism rather than the constitutional freedom and self-reliance that the American Founders conferred by their revelatory declaration of such.

    1. Buy the book, don’t. Your choice.

Turly is not begging for charity – he is asking you to trade value for value – that is how the free market works.
If you do not value his book – simply don’t buy it.
Ranting that Turley is hawking his book makes you look stupid.

If Turley does not beleive his book has enough value to recomend to others – no one should buy it.
There is nothing wrong with selling your labor or anything else that is yours to sell.

You are not hurt by others selling their work.

      1. Yet you whine about Karl Marx who is known by his work Das Kapital.

You are not hurt by Marxists or Communists or Socialists.

    2. See my book “The Right to Rage: How Billionaires Hire Millionaires to CONvince Middle and Lower Classes to be Minions.”

  7. Clearly, Turley has completely lost his mind and his grip on reality, or he is engaging in purposeful, deceitful indoctrination.
Of course, this makes him a perfect example of a MAGA cultist living in a fantasy land entirely disconnected from reality

He takes a commentary from ONE person written 2 years ago in another country, and extrapolates that to excoriate an entire movement of “leftists” in the United States.
This is not the thinking of a rational mind.
It is the thinking of someone engaged in a purposeful attempt at indoctrination of weak-minded individuals who are incapable of thinking for themselves.

Unfortunately , it works, as the comments here today prove.

    1. Leftists and communists, such as yourself, and all liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats, RINOs, AINOs et al., are immutably unconstitutional and simply have no business being in America under its Constitution and Bill of Rights.

What you and all your unambitious, nonproductive, leeching, and parasitical co-conspirators are looking for is Karl Marx and his Communist Manifesto.

Please do go pursue that goal.

The entire communist American welfare state is unconstitutional, including, but not limited to, admissions affirmative action, grade-inflation affirmative action, employment affirmative action, quotas, welfare, food stamps, minimum wage, rent control, social services, forced busing, public housing, utility subsidies, CRT, DEI, WIC, SNAP, TANF, HAMP, HARP, TARP, PBS, NPR, FCC, FDA, CDC, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency, Agriculture, Education, Labor, Energy, Obamacare, Social Security, Social Security Disability, Social Security Supplemental Income, Medicare, Medicaid, “Fair Housing” laws, “Non-Discrimination” laws, etc.

        1. I meant to say that I don’t understand the basis for saying that liberals and others are unconstitutional.

              1. Look around you. Start here: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act are unconstitutional. They cannot be taxed for or funded. Have you ever read the Constitution?

                1. Yes and the Supreme Court opinions that upheld those programs as constitutional. See and read Helvering v Davis (1937) for example.

                  1. And the Supreme Court of 1973 said abortion was a constitutional federal right.

Your Helvering v Davis was wrong and corrupt.

The Supreme Court has no power to nullify or modify the Constitution.

Please cite the Constitution for any power of Congress to tax for and fund Social Security and Medicare.

In fact, the retirement planning and healthcare enterprises in those industries operate without governmental dictate or regulation in the free markets of the private sector.

And you claim to be an American.

                2. Social Security and Medicare address 18.7% of the population and do not constitute GENERAL welfare; they are not debt or defense.
                  _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

                  Article 1, Section 8

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States;….

  8. Israel’s Christmas present to the US increases the safety and protection of Americans and their cities. The following article is most impressive and more impressive than I realized. Those who wish to throw Israel under the bus need to think again, for their attitudes make America weaker.

The US Needs Israeli Innovation for Our Defense

    Summary
The U.S. benefits from its partnership with Israel, particularly in defense innovation. Israeli technologies like the Iron Dome and Arrow missile systems, developed under real combat conditions, enhance American homeland defense. Critics who view Israel as a liability undermine this strategic alliance, potentially weakening U.S. security and benefiting adversaries like China.

    1. Meyer – I mentioned yesterday that President Trump’s most consequential action since taking office is operation midnight hammer, which could not have happened if Israel’s operation rising lion had not succeeded. This gave the world a reprieve from ayatollahs with nukes, which would have been a dark horizon, darker than many realize.

      1. Yes, you did, and though I said nothing, I agreed with your thoughts. I take note that none of the people who trash Israel or disproportionately mention it in the negative have commented. Some of them talk about America’s need for strength but are silent on this issue.

      2. Israel’s attack motivated Iran to hide the activity better. Each time they are attacked, Iran gets better and more motivated.

Let’s see Trump broker a peace deal between Netanyahu and Iran.

    2. The US backs Israel on the development of those systems, systems that cost at least 1000:1 for the attacks they defeat. They are only viable with US support. Israel is a bucket into which wasteful spending is dumped.

Unlike Israel, the US has both a huge border, is surrounded by very large oceans and friendly allies, and a large land area. Defenses named for ancient technologies aren’t going to help much.

Ukraine, the country that Trump is willing to sacrifice, has the potential to far outpace the puny efforts put forward by Israel.

      1. I don’t know the precise number, but Israel is completing the development of laser defense systems at roughly $10 a shot, and the United States receives the technology, as it does with most high-tech defense efforts. Not only that, Israel tests these systems on the ground in real warfare, something the U.S. cannot ethically or politically replicate at scale. Where else does the United States get such a bargain?

Have you asked yourself how much the U.S. spends protecting South Korea or maintaining forces all over the world? Those questions are rarely asked because once they are, Israel’s contribution becomes so minuscule it is barely visible, especially when one accounts for what America receives in return. I personally do not want Israel ‘taking’ this money, and I don’t believe Netanyahu wants it either. Much of this funding has been used by the U.S. as leverage to influence Israeli decision-making.

You spend a disproportionate amount of time focusing on Israel when, in financial terms, Israel is a poorly fed minnow among many whales. Is anti-semitism involved? What is your reason for spending so much time attacking Israel when the argument can be made in many different and better places?

Another person offered an excellent analogy demonstrating Israel’s value. Israel is like a massive American battleship protecting a vital region of the world, except that battleship carries no American lives, and if it were to sink, no Americans would drown.

“large oceans and friendly allies,” You don’t recognize how much the oceans have shrunk, and the fact that the allies you talk about provide space for our enemies. Iranian actors and others are in those areas along with the Chinese, which would love to have a bigger foothold, like Cuba, 90 miles from our shores.

“Ukraine, the country that Trump is willing to sacrifice, has the potential to far outpace the puny efforts put forward by Israel.”

Such a comparison ignores geography, mission type, and force structure. Ukraine and Israel play fundamentally different strategic roles, and collapsing them into a single cost comparison reflects a failure to understand how American power is projected.

  9. Let’s face it, the Left is suffering from moderate to severe mental illness. The studies prove this, by how many are on antidepressants, antipsychotics, pharmaceuticals that cause depression, ones the jack you up, pharmacopoeia galore. Not to mention their love of illegal substances! They are just bad people, no sugar coating. The depravity of mankind, without God!
    Stay safe everyone! Merry Christmas!

    1. The Conservative Rust belt sees the highest rates of methamphetamine abuse and opioid addictions and deaths. A similar pattern is seen in the overlay of the Bible belt.

Bishop Barron Presents | Justice Amy Coney Barrett – Listening to the Law

Raised a Catholic in New Orleans, Louisiana, Amy Coney Barrett taught law for many years at the University of Notre Dame before receiving one of the highest honors in American life: appointment as a Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

In this episode of Bishop Barron Presents: Conversations at the Crossroads, Justice Barrett shares the philosophy that informs her judicial approach; the practicalities of Supreme Court decision-making; the Christian faith and family life that empower her to navigate public scrutiny; her new book, “Listening to the Law”; and more.

  11. OT: Trump v. Illinois

Yes, Trump cannot federalize the NG to enforce Illinois law. It’s a narrow opinion but excellent.

    1. Precisely how much executive power may SCOTUS usurp?

Precisely, how much executive power may SCOTUS exercise?

Understandably, all you communists just hate it, but “the executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America” exclusively; the judicial and legislative branches possess no executive power and may exercise no executive power, and whatever those branches do, their actions must, by law, be devoid of the exercise of said executive power.

      1. You have it backwards. SCOTUS is not exercising any executive power. But the same constitution that vests the executive power in the president alone, vests the judicial power in the courts alone. Neither the president nor Congress have any power to decide what the law means. Only the courts can do that.

And that includes the statutes authorizing the president to federalize the national guard. He has NO POWER to do so, other than that granted to him by statute, and it is for the courts alone to determine what the statute authorizes him to do.

        1. Whatever those branches do, their actions must, by law, be devoid of the exercise of executive power.

A court ordered an officer of the executive branch into court, for which the judge must have been impeached and convicted for egregious usurpation and exercise of executive power.

They may judge and issue decisions; they may not exercise or cause the exercise of executive power, of which they possess none.

        2. A court recently ordered an officer of the executive branch into court daily; that constitutes the exercise of executive power and the judge must have been impeached for egregious usurpation.

The judicial branch may judge and issue a decision that is devoid of, or compels, the exercise of executive power.

That you don’t enjoy the verbatim Constitution and disagree does not bear.

Congress may impeach the president if it determines that he has committed crimes of high office.
          __________________________________________________________________________________________________________

“I HAVE EXERCISED ALL THE POWER WHICH THE CONSTITUTION AND LAWS CONFER ON ME”
          _____

“The clause in the Constitution which authorizes the suspension of the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus is in the ninth section of the first article. This article is devoted to the Legislative Department of the United States, and has not the slightest reference to the Executive Department.”

“I can see no ground whatever for supposing that the President in any emergency or in any state of things can authorize the suspension of the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus, or arrest a citizen except in aid of the judicial power.”

“I have exercised all the power which the Constitution and laws confer on me, but that power has been resisted by a force too strong for me to overcome.”

          – Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, May 28, 1861

        3. The salient laws were established at the Constitutional Convention in 1787.

The Supreme Court enjoys no power to amend or modify the Constitution.

Example: Article 1, Section 8, provides Congress the power to tax for debt, defense, and general welfare. Social Security and Medicare address 18.7% of the population and do not constitute debt, defense, or general welfare, “general” being all or the whole, presuming you’ve learned the English language.

The Supreme Court has no power to alter the meaning of general welfare to 18.7% of the population.

    2. ATS – all Scotus did was left in place a lower court TRO.

DOJ will still present its case in the lower courts, and SCOTUS will with near certainty here the appeal.

The decisions claims that the Trump administration failed to cite an authority for using the NG to enforce the law in Illinois.

That is likely correct, but it is not my understanding that is what Trump is doing.

    3. 1) The NG, unless federalized, cannot be used by the federal government; its use is limited to the governor.
      2) Federal troops can be deployed by the federal government under certain criteria, but only after all other avenues have been exhausted.
      3) The President must first utilize all other options; once it is shown that the situation meets the threshold of insurrection, he can federalize the NG.

      1. Further there is no general federal police power (except in DC) – Federal law enforcement is limited to the specific constitutional domain of constitutional federal laws.

        Protecting ICE would be legitimate.
Trying to reduce the murder rate in Chicago would not.

The military and even NG have been used domestically in the US from the founding. But they have been used to enforce Federal laws, or at the request of the states.

Imigration is the exclousive domain of the federal govenrment.

The Civil Rights act should have been found unconstitutional – but it was not, and Eisenhower and Kennedy was therefore able to us the NG to enforce it.

There are also twists between how the NG can be used and how regular military can be used.

I have not read this decision or the Dissents – and it is not a final decision – all they did was refuse to strike the lower court TRO.

I am less bothered by this decision.

While there is ZERO doubt that the president has the power to enforce federal law and to protect LEO’s doing so,

There is no power of the president to engage in general law enforcement and “peace keeping” That is an exclusively state function.

I most certainly do not want the next democrat president using the NG to enforce their policies in Red States.

        1. John, the problem is with the data and its interpretation. I am cautious about the NG being used because I do not know if the feds have exhausted the things they can legally do, and I do not know what the state has done to make things more difficult.

My guess is that much of the evidence was he said she said which can leave the administration lacking the proof it requires.

  12. What’s outrageous, Turley, is for you to cherry-pick some outlier comments and try to sell them as sentiments shared by “the Left” or “liberals”–all part of the MAGA indoctrination that you choose to sell your credentials to–all trying to divert attention away from Trump and his increasing signs of dementia and the outrageous things he is doing. And, on Christmas Eve, no less! Now, he’s back to trying to bully Greenland into “selling” to the US, after Denmark made it clear they are not, and never will be, interested in selling. So, Trump lies about the US needing Greenland for “strategic defense” purposes, when he really wants their rare minerals. Denmark has been willing to do whatever the US wants to assist in strategic defense, so that’s just another lie. He uses the same “strategic defense” lie to justify seizing Venezuelan oil tankers and blowing up boats that couldn’t possibly reach US waters, and which couldn’t be carrying Fentanyl because Fentanyl comes from Mexico and China–not Venezuela. The American People don’t want us involved in another foreign conflict. Trump doesn’t care. Another example: after CBS caved to Trump, which was quid pro quo to get Trump to allow the merger between CBS and Paramount, MAGA Bari Weiss got pushed in as head of programming. She pulled a 60 Minutes piece about the cruel conditions at that El Salvador prison where Abrego Garcia was sent– after Steven Miller told her to, and this was after the piece had been cleared by CBS Legal. He demanded that CBS only air the 60 Minutes piece if it included in the story a piece about migrants who have killed US citizens, which has nothing to do with the conditions at that El Salvador prison. So, Canadian Broadcasting got hold of the 60 MInutes piece and has been airing it and they put it on the internet.

Another example–the latest lie that has been exposed due to the latest Epstein document dump–in a”Truth Social” post several months ago, Trump denied ever flying on Epstein’s plane. It turns out that he flew at least 8 times, accompanied on one such trip by Eric and Marla Maples. Did MAGA media report this or comment about the POTUS lying, once again? Of course, the Trump DOJ is NOT complying with the federal law requiring it to turn over all Epstein documents, and forbidding the redactions of the names of those wealthy and well-connected men who were involved with Epstein. All of the names of those people were redacted, but some victims’ names were outed, against their wishes and without consulting them, and also, without any documents describing what happened to them. Yesterday, Congressman Ro Khanna revealed that at least one of Epstein’s parties there was a 13 year old girl and 15 year old girl walking around, buck-naked. Anyone who was at this gathering and failed to contact Child Protective Services is guilty of a crime. Trump told MTG that he doesn’t want those prominent bankers, investors, businessmen, etc. outed because people would get hurt. MTG responded that these victims who are women now, but who were children then, HAVE been hurt and covering up the crimes done to them and protecting the perpetrators, continues their victimization and denies them the justice they deserve. Also, there is a reference to “10 co-conspirators”, of which only Maxwell has been identified. Pammie Jo had the names of the other 9 redacted. Pammie Jo is totally unwilling to comply with the job of the DOJ–which is to advocate for VICTIMS of crimes–not protecting PERPETRATORS or making decisions based on politics. Pammie Jo refuses to do this because she is Trump’s personal lawyer–not the people’s lawyer. He wants them protected, and that’s exactly what she will do. Eventually, she may well lose her law license–she should.

    1. Cry harder Gigi, we can’t hear you.

P.S. How will you enjoy Christmas while stewing in your toxic hate-filled juices?

    2. Gigi – Chill out.

Your wigged out over Greenland – Why ?

We are not going to war with Denmark over greenland.
And my understanding is Greenland itself is seeking independence from Denmark.

Greenland is I beleive the only remaining European colony in the western Hemisphere.
I thought left wing nuts like you opposed colonialism.

Regardless greenland is in the US national security interests and it is not in Denmarks.
There are already are US bases there and have been since WWII – when wee just took Greenland from the Nazi collaborative govenrment of Denmark for the duration of the war.

Regardless, Trump is free to keep trying to get Denmark to sell it.

Trump has in the past bought things from people who said they would never sell.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with continuing to pester Denmark to persuade them to sell.

Gigi – with respect to Venezuela – the Tankers are being used in violation of international law.

It is unlikely we are going to be in a war with Venezeulla – if we are it will be sufficiently swift congresses permission will not be needed.
Again the Maduro regime is criminal – not just according to the US – but significant portions of the world

It does not matter if the cigrette boats can reach the US in one hop – or even at all.
They are transporting drugs in international waters. , and they are using the proceeded to prop up an illegal criminal regime funding terrorists.

BTW Chine supplies the precursors to Fentanyl – and they sell alot to Venezuala and more to Mexico. But does in ctually matter what illegal Drug Maduro is poisining the country with ?

Bari Weiss is NOT MAGA – she is liberal – similar to Turley, and derschowitz

She has been running an excellent podcast since she resigned from NYT over censroship.
One that she build from the ground up and is worth over 100M. It is worth that because she has established herself as a Trusted journalist.

I do not know if Weiss is up to the Challenge of fixing CBS – but it needs fixing or it is going down the tubes.

The 60 minutes peice was pulled because CBS had already run a story on CECOT recently and this added nothing new.
Worse still the team did not even try to get comments from the administration.

CECOT is not a nice prison – prisons are not supposed to be nice – south and central american prisons are particularly not nice.
The people in CECOT are incredibly not nice.

I am OK with Weiss leaving CBS and it going bankrupt – because they is the alternative.

The left MSM is in serious problem.

With respect to Epstain – I am not aware of ANYONE claiming Epstain is a good person.
Hundreds of thousands of documents have been released in a short period – Personally the 4th amendment bars releasing these documnents.

      Though the epstain estate can.

Epstains victims can sue the estate.

Further they do not need DOJ to tell them what was done to them – their were there – they can speak for themselves.
Epstain was a billionaire – they are likely to gfet enormous judgements.

Fancy you defending MTG. The work turned upside down.

DOJ’s job is to prosecute crimes – not advocate for anyone. Trump arrested Epstain and Maxwell.

Bondi is doing quite well – crime is dropping – the lies of the left are being exposed.

      1. Another stream-of-consciousness drivel.

That “short period” started on Jan 20th, the day when Trump took the oath and was able to fulfill his campaign promise to release the Epstein files, a full 11 months ago. That he delayed doesn’t change the amount of time he had available.

    3. Gigi, it sounds like you are very unhappy with Christmas this year. I suggest you find a family to take you in and celebrate. Maybe that erroneous, defamatory fog will dissipate, and, like normal people, you can strive for a merry Christmas.

      Season’s greetings to everyone.

    4. It’s the land of the Lotus-eaters where the conservatives want a return to the racist 1950s when they could snicker to themselves about the “colored” bathrooms and water fountains.

  13. Dear Prof Turley,

T’was the night before Christmas and that was a Bad woke joke .. . I can’t teach you, if you won’t learn.

It is almost certain that Santa Claus and all the reindeers are Illegal Aliens. I expect Trump/DHS will direct ICE to drag these illegal aliens from the Sleigh and promptly deport them back to El Salvador. .. absent posting $5m for a golden HB1 visa. (see Go Fund me @ Santa Claus)

Stocking stuffer: gas is down $2.35/gal

*many Christmas’ ago I went to buy a doll for my woke son, and as I reached for the doll, so did another man. As I rained down blows upon him, I realized there had to be a better way .. . happy Festivus for the rest of us.

  14. So, celebrating the birth of Jesus, an Israelite, who is venerated by Christians and Muslims (who view him as one of God’s greatest prophets) alike is too white? In his short ministry on this earth, Jesus is the most influential person who has ever lived in all the earth’s history. For me, as Christian, obviously, Jesus’s significance is far more than his earthly ministry.

Saint Nicholas of Myra was born in the third century (also known as Nicholas of Bari) was an early Christian bishop of Greek descent from the maritime city of Anatolia (Turkey). Honoring his life is too white? How funny.

I imagine those who whip up these so called controversies would have been first in line to get Kool-Aide in the Guyana massacre. Their opinion means absolutely nothing to me.

    Merry Christmas!
I hope that all who are Jewish had a wonderful Hanukkah!

  15. If it is a man’s duty to fight a nation’s wars, is it not a woman’s duty to make a nation’s people?

      1. Sounds like get-em pregnant and keep them pregnant until they finally die in childbirth.

Typical conservative man making demands of women.

        1. Spoken like an little child who has been brainwashed by left-wing Marxists who are actually opposed to motherhood. Have you graduated third grade yet? Probably not.

Anonymous troll: try keeping the human species going without women giving birth. Lots a luck with that, science denier.

  16. In Other News: “Energy Prices Rise due to Unprecedented Demand for Coal”
    ~+~
A world-wide shortage of all grades of coal is expected this holiday season after Santa Claus contracted with major carriers such as Norfolk Southern, BNSF, Maersk, and APL. A spokesElf for the North Pole stated, “We decided to go with an intermodal strategy to deliver this year’s Lump of Coal Service, which is becoming our most prescribed offering.”

Santa expects the public should reach Peak Woke soon and thus the coal gifts will then fall accordingly.

    1. When the replacement for coal is being taken off the table by a bought-and-paid for US President, one can imagine a slight uptick. What is unprecedented is the rate of increase. Coal still sits at record low consumption for power generation in the USA since the 2007 peak, a reduction in consumption of 60%.
