Michael Cohen is back.
The disbarred lawyer has spent a lifetime marketing his curious skill set: a moral and ethical flexibility that allows him to do things that others would find revolting. A legal thug who threatened students, journalists, and others on behalf of his former client. He then turned against Trump to cut a deal for himself after being criminally charged for fraudulent conduct. He has now turned against the New York prosecutors who sought to rehabilitate him to prosecute Trump.
For full disclosure, I have been a critic of Cohen for years, dating back to his time as a thug for Donald Trump, when I chastised the New York bar for failing to act against him. While the media once despised Cohen, he became a darling of the press when he turned against Trump.
Cohen’s North Star has always been pure, unadulterated self-interest. Neither loyalty nor decency has deterred Cohen from making false statements or serving the interests of his changing patrons.
His conduct as an attorney was a disgrace to the bar for years, as he gamed the system for his own benefit. Michael Cohen was long known as the “fixer” for former President Trump — a legal thug who threatened students, journalists, and others on behalf of his former client.
His signature has been to threaten lawsuits against critics. He even sued Trump and failed.
When his fraudulent business conduct led to criminal charges, it was clear that he was again entertaining best offers. Cohen reinvented himself as a redemptive sinner and received financial support from Trump critics.
Throughout this process and after his conviction, he continued to be accused of lying.
He claimed urgent medical needs for release from prison. Of course, he previously claimed health problems for failing to appear to testify, only to be spotted out on the town for a fancy dinner.
During the Trump trial, Cohen was again accused of lying. He spent two days insisting that he had been a liar but had lied to help former President Donald Trump.
Cohen has lied to Congress, courts, special counsels, the IRS, the banks, and virtually every creature that walks or crawls on the face of the Earth.
Notably, his past convictions for business and tax fraud were not taken in Trump’s interest but in his own. When he admitted on the stand that he lied during his prior plea agreement, it was to advance his own interests.
Cohen has now continued this pattern of shifting loyalties and turned on New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, accusing them of pressuring him to frame his testimony to guarantee Trump’s conviction.
After Trump’s recent court victories and the remanding of his federal case, Cohen is claiming that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the New York Attorney General’s Office “pressured and coerced” him into tailoring testimony: “I felt pressured and coerced only to provide information and testimony that would satisfy the government’s desire to build the cases against and secure a judgment and convictions against President Trump.”
The posting led some to speculate that Cohen is again marketing his availability to the highest bidder. Whatever the reason, his statement clearly undermines his former allies as they struggle to preserve what remains of their prior prosecutions.
Cohen remains the personification of the old fable of the scorpion and frog. In the fable, a scorpion convinced a leery frog to carry him across a river, noting that he could not sting him since they would both drown. Halfway across, the scorpion struck, and the frog asked why he would doom them both. The scorpion replied, “I am sorry, but I couldn’t resist the urge. It’s in my nature.”
James and Bragg just felt that all-too-familiar sting from Michael Cohen.

I’d be careful about that assumption. Northern Idaho just threw out a bunch of right wing idiots from public office because…well let’s just say you can’t run government with a 2nd grade education. Just look at what trump is trying to so with his 2nd grade intellect.
How are Soybean farmers doing? Haven’t sold an ounce of soy beans to China since the orange god came into power.
Google: U.S. soybean sales to China in 2025 saw a significant downturn due to tariffs but rebounded late in the year following a trade agreement, with China committing to 12 million metric tons for late 2025 and 25 million annually through 2028, though total 2025 exports still fell short of 2024 levels, with early 2025 showing near-zero shipments, followed by a pickup in the latter part of the year as the new trade deal was implemented.
She just makes it up in her head. Don’t you see the ghosts are really there!!!
Thinkitthrough says: Northern Idaho just threw out a bunch of right wing idiots from public office because…well let’s just say you can’t run government with a 2nd grade education. Just look at what trump is trying to so with his 2nd grade intellect.
Wow! Yet the state of Idaho remains Republican – not ruinous Marxist Democrat! That’s a massive flex and projection you just virtue signaled using your 2nd grade education that leaves you just barely capable of reading and applying Saul Alinsky’s “Rules For Radicals”!
Think this through (assuming you aren’t a poser who can’t manage that):
America just threw out your party’s intellectual leader, the Democrat Marxist police state fascist, The Oval Office Intellectual House Plant. The one who repeatedly convinced you and other Democrats: “I have two degrees obtained at the same time, at the top of the class in both, and I was on a full pull scholarship”.
And while you’re “thinking it through”, surely you asked yourself why your fellow Democrat commie police state fascist, the brown vagina DEI Hire Border Czar, also got kicked to the curb by America’s voters. After her successful party insurrection to replace The Oval Office Intellectual House Plant.
With the incredible intellectual musings you put on display so often here as a Marxist Moron… I’m curious as to whether you’re actually attempting to persuade people to your point of view? Or just posing and flexing to virtue signal to any other Democrat Marxist Useless Idiots hanging around here?
Think that one through tell us what you come up with.
Your move, Tovarisch… don’t just do the infamous Democrat Daily Dump To Deflect And Disappear.

Hmmmm… yes, let’s just look at this! The Wharton School Of Business Trump graduated from before building his empire, is a public school 2nd grade education in the Democrat Borg!!!! Self-identifying cerebral and rational Democrats should have no problem naming any Democrat House or Senate member, not just President, who built a similar billionaire’s business empire with ANY level of academic achievement long before they successfully ran for the Senate, House, or straight to running for President.
Obama, Biden, the Clintons, Pelosi, Schumer, etc… they only become filthy rich through succeeding in persuading Democrats to vote them into office as Marxists. They never had businesses like Trump has, which they built and then employed thousands of Americans. Their filthy Marxist millions stay right there, in their own pockets.
The Cougar Of Wall Street, Nancy Pelosi with her incredibly brilliant investing strategies that embarrass the accomplishments of America’s best investment companies (AFTER she entering politics), whines right beside Lunch Bucket Joe that she was just poor blue collar before entering politics.
Ditto for Another Odd Communist… when she was just plain old ‘Sandy Cortez’ with her economics degree, who could only get work as a barista with that degree, whining about how poor she was. Magically, after a few years as a House Democrat, ‘Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ is suddenly a multi-millionaire!
Nothing Democrat Marxist To See Here, Please Believe Thinkitthrough, Don’t Believe Your Lying Eyes™
Mr. or Mrs. demorat Smith goes to DC and comes out loaded with filthy lucre. It’s literally the game they play – ALL of them.
Trading Economics US soybeen futures jan 21, 2025 1048, Today 1057.
US Soy farmers are doing fine.
What matters is not WHO US farmers sell their soy to but THAT they are able to sell their soy for a good price.
“This month, USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) published the Crop Production—2025 Summary report, which increased the 2025 U.S. soybean production estimate by 9 million bushels to 4.26 billion bushels on higher harvested acreage. Harvested acreage increased by 0.1 million acres to 80.4 million acres. The national average soybean yield is unchanged at a record high of 53.0 bushels per acre. The U.S. soybean crush forecast for marketing year (MY) 2025/26 is raised this month by 15 million bushels to 2.57 billion bushels. “
It’s the severe TDS that drives these insane leftoid sycophants to frothing lies like moths to a light !.
“Cohen has lied to Congress, courts, special counsels, the IRS, the banks, and virtually every[one]….”
It is an amazing, and telling, fact that democrats and their mainstream media take this political-Janus so seriously, platforming his every dissemblance, so frequently.
Cohen’s frequent turns of perfidy do not suggest “loyalties” of any sort, but reveal fickle self-interests, and/or strategic instructions from his owners:
in other words, this tail will wag every foolish dog reacting to every democrat call for frenzied outrage.
News is no longer news in the democrat/socialist paradigm—it’s a constant Jerry Springer show, on steroids and meth.
Trump said, “There is one thing: my own morality, my own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me. I don’t need international law.”
YAWN
Ever heard of positive thinking, positive affirmations, positive self-talk. Thinking out loud?
All of that personal-positivism must have roots in reducing stress, when dealing with catastrophe, blame, and polarization—it is not unusual (in fact, it’s helpful) to think this way if one must LEAD in difficult times of outright lunacies and insurrections. You might say similar things if you were in the same situation, tasked with controlling such a state of affairs….
Perhaps Trumps delivery is not ideal, but if you found Biden’s bizarre talking acceptable, you should be quite comfortable with anyone thinking out loud.
I love this Trump quote.
This is actually true of every single human, but he is honest enough to admit it, and moral enough to defend his actions.
That’s the morality and mindset I voted for and the courage of conviction sorely missing these days.
All the strife Trump is fighting is caused by humans that also follow this without sufficient morality.
I suggest those that oppose this idea reevaluate their own morality and mindset and see if you can now take responsibility for your actions.
Trump said, “There is one thing: my own morality, my own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me. I don’t need international law.”
Biden said: “Neither my son nor I have ever done anything wrong, and if he did, I will never issue a presidential pardon to my son Hunter or any other Biden family member”.
Your move, Tovarish…. got anything more entertaining to gaslight with?
Gaslighting
Gaslighting is the intended psychological manipulation by a low-IQ perpetrator targeting those they hope to victimize through intentionally misleading that person or group. This involves the perpetrator trivializing, lying, denying events, and other methods used in the hope their intended victims doubt their perceptions of reality, memories, and feel overly emotional or irrational.
The main five methods of gaslighting that may be used alone or in conjunction with others are: trivializing, countering, lying, blame shifting, and withholding.
Two things can be true at the same time. Cohen is a scoundrel strong armed by the two other scoundrels named James and Bragg. As scoundrels go Cohen james and Bragg have all been proven to be abject failures in their effort to get Trump. Here we are just when you think God isn’t watching. A pox on the skin is clearly seen, a pox on the soul remains hidden until it isn’t. Drain the lumps.
Cohen as a lawyer/liar is a product of his own making. He has played both sides and cries victim each and every time. Nothing stand up about this weasel or ANYTHING he says.
” A pox on the skin is clearly seen, a pox on the soul remains hidden until it isn’t.”
I have a fair degree of confidence in my ability to accurately diagnose soulpox from a distance. YMMV.
Good song, and video…
I like it
They need to do a song about how the Danish govt for many decades sterilized many of the female native population to keep them in check in small numbers.
South Carolina reported 124 new cases of measles between Tuesday and Friday this week, according to the state’s Department of Public Health.
Thank you MAGMA (Make America Get Measles Again).
Thank you so much to all you unassimilable, undesirable, and welfare-requiring illegal alien invaders from mexiafraasiarabia.
Thanks for visiting; now go home and take your bugs with you!
! mexiafraasiarabia ! Great compounding of the words (and problems), but you forgot to add China. 🙂
I think China is in Asia, Einstein!
You engage in deeper thinking or playing gotcha?
All Chinese are Asians, but not all Asians are Chinese, Super-Einstein.
The compound word signified the division of ethnic people-groups, of which China figures prominently: not all “Asians” pose the same kind of threat as infiltrators (spies) working for China.
I think you just outsmarted yourself by half. You go, boy!
South Carolina reported 124 new cases of measles between Tuesday and Friday this week, according to the state’s Department of Public Health.
Imagine if South Carolina’s Illegal Aliens had to provide proof of vaccination to Bribery Biden before he invited them in, just as legal immigrants during his presidency were required to provide before he granted them a visa!
Bribery Biden’s 10-15 MILLION unvaccinated criminal Illegal Aliens are delivering the measles, tuberculosis, etc outbreaks Democrats hoped they could have in their back pocket to use as a weapon if The Oval Office House Plant somehow or other failed to beat Trump.
Your move, Tovarisch…
Imagine if you had facts. You’d know it was not illegal immigrants, or even immigrants, that brought measles. It was unvaccinated U.S. Citizens that are mostly trump supporters.
The measles argument is being used by left authoritarians to promote authoritarianism. That’s why some people resist it, no one likes to lose their choice. Same playbook as covid vaccine: Confuse the issue for political gain. Stop politicizing an individual’s choices and start providing truth for a change. You’re hurting people again, knock it off.
People learned from Covid that out “experts” were lying to them.
They learned that masks did not work,
That lockdowns did not work
That the vaccine killed some and harmed others, and that for many people the vaccine was more dangerous than Covid.
Most important they learned that one size fits all solutions are nearly always wrong for almost all people.
Provide the proof when you say such rude and harmful accusations against U.S. Citizens.
There has to be a study to back your claims. If not, zip it!
Ah brainiac , it was hordes of illegals that have brought back such disease outbreaks. But hey , you just keep that noggin a cloggin the D brand colon. It’s a great look for your stripe.
Measles had been effectively eradicated in the domestic US population for over a decade, without recourse to vaccines. Measles does not develop spontaneously among the unvaccinated, it is caught from someone else. Who was that someone else, and where did they come for (and where is they contract it). 1mb3c1l3
ATS Measles was eradicated in the US in 2004.
All measles in the US today comes directly or indirectly from foreigners.
If you wish to vaccinate against Measles – that is your choice.
If you are exposed frequently to foreigners – that is probably a wise choice.
If the US requires vaccination to enter the country and stops all illegal entry we could eliminate measless (and several other) vaccinatiosn
entirely.
That is a good thing – we do not vaccinate against smallpox anymore.
Polio has nearly been eliminated globally.
I know you are clueless but vaccines themselves kill or injure people every year.
So long as the risk of getting the disease being vaccinated against and dying or being injured by it is lower than the risk fo the vaccine,
Then people should not choose to vaccinate.
That is facts, logic, reason, math.
It is not ideology.
The measles are coming from unvaccinated illegal immigrants who enter the country without being screened. Ms. Twisted does it again.
On March 7, 2024, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) confirmed a case of measles in a male aged 1 year residing in a temporary shelter for migrants in Chicago.
Trump stopped nobody from being vaccinated. RFK stopped nobody. None of the alphabet agencies stopped American citizens from vaccinating themselves or the minor children in their custody.
No offense, but you are a moron.
Ah, the free enterprises of the free industries in the free markets of the once-free United States of America.
Read Article 1, Section 8, and the absolute right to private property in the 5th Amendment.
It’s individual ingenuity and free market competition that constitute endeavor and the “pursuit of happiness” in America.
Thank joey briben and his hordes of diseased illegals that bring a wealth of disease experience right here and now.
Measles was eradicated in the US in 2004.
If you see measles in the US today it came from a foreign country.
Letitia James and Alvin Bragg’s own claims of “truth” ultimately turned against them, revealing their statements to be deceptive and demonstrably false.
They should be tried in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to circumvent the “jury-nullification” cheating in Northeastern District Courts.
Yeah, you be careful. We’ll move it over to Boise or Spokane, K? How’s that, that better?
Nope. U.S. soybean exports to China in 2025 are projected to reach around 18 million metric tons
The trade deal between the United States and China, announced in November, ends the suspension of soybean imports. It includes a commitment for China to purchase 12 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans in the last two months of 2025 and at least 25 million metric tons annually through 2028.
And we made new customers in other countries…
It is almost as though the left does not read news or follow news at all. Seemingly they are spoon fed via the party apparatus.
They should be tried in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to circumvent the “jury-nullification” cheating in Northeastern District Courts.
They can’t be tried in Idaho. They must be tried in the same district in which they’re alleged to have committed their crimes.

Need to get rid of your daughters old training bras? Send them these Biden Boshevik Birthing Boyz. Your wife’s old panties you can send to Biden’s FBI who were trying to get off sniffing Melania’s panties and Barron’s dirty underwear.
Your move, Democrat Furry Tranny…
“His signature has been to threaten lawsuits against critics. He even sued Trump and failed.” Trump does the same, no? So it’s all good in my book.
Yes , but Trump wins. How’s that logic working for the left.
Normal law abiding people don’t hire lawyer-thugs. Just sayin’.
. What about a very rich man plagued by people wanting his money without cause? These people wanting the rich man’s money are thugs. A virtuous lawyer would not wisely engage such a plague of people leaving only lawyer thugs willing to do such work, anon.
Rich people insulate themselves with layers of lawyers and secretaries of sorts never contacting the sources of plague. Surely you know this, anon.
. The scorpion lacks the virtue of self restraint. The frog lacks the virtue of wisdom. A wise frog would have passed by quickly jumping into the water saying, no dangerous hitchhikers today, scorpion.
DJT needed more layers of insulation. We often think in terms of vices or instinct and not at the lack of virtue. It’s much easier to avoid a vice than to aquire a virtue.
Google didn’t know the moral.
. Walz fits the frog’s lack of wisdom and the Somalis are getting a ride off his dollar as they sting him to final death ruining Minnesota in destruction. A few escaped with sacks of cash. There are narco hubs in that sinkhole. DEA is in there, too.
If you did nothing the place has destroyed itself.
Politicians in general follow this theme as well. Look how wealthy so many of the left wingnutz have become and how they lawyer up – even with the help of Soro’s filthy lucre.
We vote for (or confirm) those lawyer-thugs: Obama, Clinton, Biden, and of course Comey, McCabe, Mueller, Lynch, Yates… the long list of the Obama unindicted criminal cabal. Most of whom were at one time members of the Washington DC Bar Association – and some still are.
In England, in centuries past, challenging the authority of the King was treason punishable by Drawing and Quartering.
That would absolutely ruin Obongo’s mendacious image, wouldn’t it?
. From that we know that road leads to destruction. We know that from a simple fable.
“Most of whom were at one time members of the Washington DC Bar Association – and some still are.”
And rubbing elbows with our host, no?
Normal law abiding prosecutors don’t use lawyer-thugs to “get” their political opponents. Just sayin’.
. Perhaps it’s Cohen’s Last exposure and might discredit further Ms Daniel’s nuisances and the lovely Ms Carroll. The jersey flip as Olly says.
Like Johnnie Cochran?
Is that why the dems hire and utilize so many dog breath idiot lying lawyers ?. Jeez , you may be onto something there.
Never would Justice be better served than if Bragg, James, Cohen and a 55-gallon of chum were all dumped into the ocean together to become shark bait… with the sharks having been specially-trained to take their time…. :-O
Why don’t sharks eat lawyers? Professional curtesy.
Nah, sharks’ll eat anyone, including other sharks.
“Never would Justice be better served than if Bragg, James, Cohen and a 55-gallon of chum were all dumped into the ocean together to become shark bait”
You could add the Clintons to that list. As long as you don’t fear poisoning the sharks, at least…
All you can do is make ad hominem attacks, instead of having a healthy, respectful discussion
about whether ICE’s actions are constitutional.
All you can do is make ad hominem attacks, instead of having a healthy, respectful discussion about whether ICE’s actions are constitutional.
Too busy rioting and attacking ICE for enforcing the law over the last few months, unaware of the daily ad hominum attacks going on here towards those who support ICE? It’s too early in the morning for the Democrat movie theater to be having a childrens’ matinee showing of the Democrat Hypocrisy Clown Show.
Projection:
Channeling one’s actions onto others typically refers to the psychological concept of projection, where a deeply emotionally disturbed individual unconsciously or deliberately attributes their own thoughts, feelings, and anti-social or criminal behaviors onto someone else.
This is an internal defense mechanism which allows mentally ill people to avoid confronting their own behavior and guilt by seeing it instead as as the thoughts and actions of another person who they despise and hate.
Did you, for some confused and mentally chaotic reason, plagiarize Snoop Doggy Dog’s bizarre format?
ok. ICE’s actions are constitutional.
This is what the government always has done . Why should this be any surprise to anyone. The current administration is just more blatant about what it is doing. This is the real world unfortunately. That is why the Epstein files will never be released and the rich and the powerful of both parties will continue to be protected.
That is why the Epstein files will never be released and the rich and the powerful of both parties will continue to be protected.
There’s desperate times ahead for those whose life revolves around “the Epstein files”. Hundreds of thousands of those documents have been released – but there’s still over two million needing to be redacted as per the judge’s order still remaining.
I doubt a single person screaming “the Epstein Files” has bothered to actually attempt to go through those which have been released, hoping they can find whatever satisfies their prurient obsession.
The wails of “release the files” are what’s important – not reading what has already been released while awaiting the release of the remainder.
Your party has moved on from ‘another dead-end Epstein release’. try and keep up.
Prof. Turley,
It does not matter whether Bragg and James pressured him or not.
What matters is that he is obviously so much of a liar that no one ever should have beleived his testimony.
I personally have no problems beleiving James and Bragg tried to shape Cohen’s testimoney
Prosecutors do that all the time.
The problem is NOT James and Bragg in this instance – though what is claimed is unethical – ethics are not common among prosecutors.
The problem is with Merchan. I am not sure Cohen should have been allowed to testify.
Regardless, it required a massive instruction from the Judge informing the Jury that Cohen was convicted of crimes in falsification and
was confessing to further lies under oath in his testimony. That Cohen’s testimoney can not be beleived as a matter of law without massive corroborating evidence.
More simply – the problem is with the judge – not the prosecutor.
The problem is with Cohen, who clearly has no integrity. Merchan was also a problem, but for different reasons.
Correct – but people like Cohen exist. Mmany of them do not have long records of convictions for “crimes in falsification” and judges can be excused for allowing their testimoney.
Cohen is a convicted liar who admitted to even more lies open the stand.
If he was allowed to testify at all, a Giant jury instruction noting that he can not be used as the sole evidence of any element of any alleged crime was required.
Was he a lawyer or a liar?
Is that an attempt to give an example of a false dichotomy?
Does the Constitution apply to non-Republicans, too, or only Republicans?
According to MAGAs the Constitution gives Republicans any power they want and at the same time limits Democrats.
Nice job partner! Are we done here now? I’d like to get back in bed for a little cuddle with you wearing your Furry costume.
Now you have hit upon the essence.
The Founders were conservative, and they wrote a conservative Constitution that denies and precludes large government and confers maximal freedom on individuals.
They averted and prevented the current American liberalism, which consists of Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto, including his “dictatorship of the proletariat (i.e., hired help),” his basic principles of “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs,” central planning, control of the means of production (i.e., regulation), redistribution of wealth, and social engineering.
Read Article 1, Section 8, and the 5th Amendment’s absolute right to private property.
The disbarred lawyer has spent a lifetime marketing his curious skill set: a moral and ethical flexibility that allows him to do things that others would find revolting.
If he were a Democrat lawyer and member of the Washington DC Bar, like Comey, this column would have been written in a completely different manner. Comey did worse to the entire nation than Cohen did towards individuals
“If he were a Democrat lawyer and member of the Washington DC Bar, like Comey,”
Does that not also describe our host?
. The scorpion and the frog, perfect.
The only quandary left is the reason anyone would waste time on Cohen or the definition of female. Not surprisingly the most talkative person on SCOTUS is KBJ. For every 11,ooo words she’s spoken Justice Thomas has spoken 95 words. I don’t understand what she’s saying and I don’t think she does either.
🌲
What does it say about New York City juries that they believed Michael Cohen?
. NY juries are frogs, ed. They are unwise.
“What does it say about New York City juries that they believed Michael Cohen?”
Juries drawn from the same (polluted) source also indicted Trump for crimes that demonstrably do not exist, and a political parody like Zorro DamnedNanny was elected mayor of NYC. I don’t think anything more remains to be said – all is painfully obvious.
If the Constitution is such a sacred document, then violations of due process, habeas corpus, and the First Amendement by ICE agents are something worth exploring. This should be obvious, low-hanging fruit.
As if any of that tripe is actually true. Cope harder, my friend.
It is.
You choose not to see it.

The Constitution means nothing to you, either.

Did you expect the lawless actions of the Biden administration that allowed millions of illegals into this country to rape and pillage the public coffers to go unanswered?
We should halt completely all immigration but for vetted tourists, cancel sll student visas and H1-B visas until we have deported every single illegal. And that includds cancelling all of the ridiculous TPS nonsense.
Illegal immigrants need to be identified by all available methods:
Punishing employers
IRS investigations
Cut off public funds
and more

@OldFish
This was always going to be like ripping off the most painful of bandaids to the left, particularly given how mad and compounded it all got since 2020, but it has to be done. We do need some fair reform in this area, but we’ve got to clean up the mess, first.
At times I think the entropy we saw on every level from 2020-25 was a direct projection of what it’s like inside a modern leftist’s mind 24/7. There is no order, logic, fairness, or sanity there.
James, I read “modern leftists” as a small but loud cadre of true believers, not the broader electorate. Their influence far exceeds their numbers and that’s where the entropy comes from. Would you agree?
OLLY,
I agree. I have noted before, my sister is a registered Democrat. As a member of her local Democrat party chapter, many members want to return to traditional, JFK Democrat party policies. Not the “modern leftists” extreme ones, which, as we have seen, generally fail.
However, my sister has had a few, “modern leftists,” tell her, her thinking was wrong.
Biden let in millions of unvetted illegals, many with criminal records, human trafficking, child trafficking, drug crisis. And Democrats ignore the problem or spin it in a way to make a MS13 gang member, into a “Maryland family man.” Reading the rage rhetoric coming from Walz and Frey, they seem to be the ones inciting violence and suggesting fighting a war with the federal government. Kinda sounds like insurrection talk to me.
I can relate in a different way. I have a sister who chose to cut off communication with me after becoming an avowed socialist. Whether that reflects a lack of early formation or beliefs shaped later by institutions like the University of Wisconsin–Madison, I can’t say with certainty. What I do know is that ideas don’t emerge in a vacuum. They are taught, reinforced, and normalized by environments. When institutions abandon the work of forming citizens in self-government and moral restraint, they don’t produce neutral thinkers—they produce committed ideologues.
. Olly, what is the moral of The Scorpion and the Frog? It’s worth stating as Google doesn’t know and gives an incorrect response.
The lesson of the scorpion and the frog is that sinful nature, left unrestrained, will often act self-destructively, even when the consequences are obvious. Reason alone is not enough to overcome ingrained impulses.
That is why arguments against unalienable rights are so dangerous. They assume power will restrain itself once moral limits are removed. But fallen human nature guarantees the opposite: once rights are no longer inherent, they exist only at the pleasure of those in power—and eventually that power turns on everyone.
. Olly, was the frog foolish?
Fair question, but take a risk and answer it yourself. What do you think the frog represents?
Upstate, good for her and them. I know a lot of people miss John Kennedy style democrats.
. Olly, the frog is part of the scorpion frog ensemble. The frog lacks virtue. The virtue lacking is wisdom. He’s a fool easily stung repeatedly among other virtues lacking. Scorpions are easily recognized by vice. I’m currently intrigued by virtue in fables. It’s a point of view perhaps needing wear. Virtue is more difficult to aquire and sometimes impossible.
Governor Walz is currently exposed as a frog. He’s lead Minnesota into destruction as the frog in the fable went down with the scorpion.
The frog is a foolish person.
“many members want to return to traditional, JFK Democrat party policies. Not the “modern leftists” extreme ones, ”
So, if the broader Democrat electorate does not subscribe to the stances pushed by the extreme leftists, given the claimed numerical discrepancy, they should easily be able to return the party to a saner path, should they not? Is their failure to exercise that power not at least as damning an indictment as agreeing with the extremists would be?
The legal immigrants who finally get an immigration visa approved after years of vetting are just as valuable as future Americans now as they have been before now. The Democrats have succeeded in renaming their criminal Illegal Aliens as “immigrants” to persuade Americans that real immigrants are no better.
Same as the democrats and their media have cherrypicked some Republicans to present as representing all, and convinced half the country all Republicans are neo-fascists and racists. Straight out of the Chicago communist Saul Alinsky’s “Rules For Radicals” that Obama and Clinton both adopted as their operations manual.
If we can’t multi-task to both deal with criminal Illegal Aliens and associated crime while at the same time continuing legal immigration, we aren’t intelligent enough as a nation to survive. Just throw in the towel and flail while going down an angry loser.
This frames immigration as a problem of labels, enforcement, and political manipulation, but it still misses what the Founders saw as decisive: formation. Madison and Adams were clear that a republic depends less on policies than on a citizenry formed in the habits and principles of self-government. Lawful immigration, border enforcement, and crime control all matter, but none of them address whether citizens, native-born or immigrant, are being formed to sustain liberty once they’re here. A nation can multitask on enforcement and visas, yet still fail if it neglects the harder work of cultivating civic responsibility and constitutional understanding. That is the gap no amount of rhetoric can fill.
Olly says: Madison and Adams were clear that a republic depends less on policies than on a citizenry formed in the habits and principles of self-government.
The expression of Madison and Adams’ ideals is similar to those found in the Bible, Torah, etc. Nobody can prove a negative, but I doubt either Madison or Adams saw those ideals existing around them during their political careers. Particularly while the two of them fought their political battles in the manner they engaged in during their time. Doing so while ignoring the slavery and indentured servitude around them, justified in doing nothing meaningful about it as a political necessity.
Whatever the Founders wrote about the republic, the citizenry of that day did not have the academic habits and principles of self-government that we’re criticized for not having now. We had the Whiskey War, etc, and less than a century later the Civil War.
Those and other moments in American history over 150 years ago did not come about during that time because the politicians the public elected on both sides had differing views in the proper habits and principles of self-government.
There is nothing really new in the core of afflictions of America today that weren’t already present in America from our founding forward. The tools and methods are better at magnifying our failings, but Americans back then were just as imperfect back as we are now.
I don’t disagree with much of that, but I think it actually strengthens, rather than undermines, the point.
Madison and Adams did not believe a formed citizenry already existed in some pure or academic sense. They believed one was necessary(/b> precisely because human beings are imperfect, prone to faction, self-interest, and moral failure. Their writings were not descriptions of reality; they were prescriptions meant to restrain it.
Slavery, the Whiskey Rebellion, and later the Civil War all testify to how hard self-government is when formation is incomplete or uneven. The Founders assumed fallen human nature and designed a system to channel it, not deny it.
What’s different today isn’t that Americans are suddenly imperfect, it’s that we increasingly deny the need for formation at all, while relying on systems, expertise, and power to compensate. That’s the shift I’m pointing to.
“what the Founders saw as decisive: formation. ”
The formation to which you refer happens largely in childhood. Childhood influences were once the almost exclusive province of parents, directly. The primary source influencing “formation” changed to public educational institutions many decades ago, and the philosophy of those institutions is predominantly forced upon them by teachers’ unions. That would make it pretty clear where pressure must be applied to change the dynamic.
If the Constitution is such a sacred document You would have been wailing about violations through the entire Obama and then Biden presidencies. But you didn’t – making YOU the low-hanging fruit today.
What violations ?
You do not just get to make things up.
To be clear – while the illegal immigrants ICE is targeting are primarily criminals and alleged criminals.
They are not being arrested and tried for a crime.
They are being detained and deported – SENT HOME for being here illegally.
Due process is the legal procedures that are used to protect rights.
There is no right for an illegal immigrant to be in the US.
The Due Process they are entitled to is minimal.
They are entitled to Habeus protection – but in a habeaus claim the burden of proof in no longer on the government,
and the illegal immigrant is generally limited to trying to prove they are NOT the person that the government is trying to deport.
There is also a habeaus claim of illegal detention – but every person detained by ICE can be released immediately – onto a plane back to their country of origen. They are being precluded from wandering arround the US. Which they have no right to.
They are not having their right to freedom infringed.
I would note that your first amendment claims have been dying in court – because they are garbage.
The 3rd Circuit just reversed the lower courts on Khalil. They told the lower courts they have exceeded their juridiction.
Essentially they said what I did above.
There is no right to criminal due process in the Article III courts for people who are not being tried for a crime.
By law and constitution jurisdiction over illegal immigration is with the Executive and Article II courts.
The trier of Fact is the article II court – not the federal district court.
That Federal district courts are limited to minimal habeaus claims as well as claims that the Article II court did not apply the law correctly.
The findings of fact of article II courts in immigration cases are outside the jurisdiction of the article II courts – by law and constitution.
As is typical of the left you are trying to make up rights where they do not exist.
You have an absolute right to be in the US if you are born here.
You have a near absolute right if you were naturalized – generally only fraud in the visa, legal residence and naturalization process can result in revoking citizenship
You have Some limited rights to be here if you have legal residence status – that can be revoked for the same reasons citizenship can be with a lower standard of proof as well as a significant numbr of other reasons.
Visa holders have very limited rigths to be here.
Illegal aliens have no right to be here.
Courts have the power to protect actual rights.
Due process exists to protect actual rights.
Due process protects everyone and is the method used to determine if someone is deportable. To throw out due process just because they are accused of being in the country illegally makes a mockery of the entire concept of due process and rule of law.
And don’t deflect with that MAGA bullcrap that they’ve already had what the courts have said are their due process because of their status as undocumented immigrants, and your other BS about existing deportation orders.
John say, thank you. You just explained why a person wants to be a citizen and not just a resident.
I would note that your first amendment claims have been dying in court – because they are garbage.

No, they didn’t. They did NOT dismiss Khalil’s claims at all. They merely said that his case is not yet ripe for the real courts to consider it. First he has to go through the entire process of the immigration “courts”. Once there is a final order of removal, THEN he will get his chance to challenge it in a real court, and THEN he can raise his first amendment claims (which I think are valid). That’s all.
You are never going to get a MAGA to care about the Constitution. Just not going to happen. Violating the Constitution is needed for the MAGAs to achieve their goal of a Christian white nationalist country.
You are never going to get a MAGA to care about the Constitution.
It’s too early in the morning for the Democrat movie theater to be having a childrens’ matinee showing of the Democrat Commie Clown Show.

name just one MAGA constitutional violation you speak of. Dare ya. facts only please. I’ll find the flaw in your reasoning. go.
ICE breaking down doors without a warrant or any other legal exception to 4A.
Trump taking 25% of the profits from chip sales, which is a tax without Congressional approval.
Taking the oil from Venezuela, selling it, and putting it in a Qatari back account. Only Congress can control money into and out of the US government.
The whole BS about Pence being able to disregard EC votes.
MAGA is neither a white movement nor a Christian one.
The only difference between Cohen and Avanetti is that Avanetti is still in jail. The only guy Cohen is loyal to is Cohen. He will always do what’s in his best interest. His 15 minutes of fame is so far past us. First-year law students should use Cohen as an example of what not to be as a lawyer.
Michael Cohen, Michael Avenatti, Hunter Biden … esq. cellar dweller’s`

You can be sure of one thing. The MSN will be all over this.

They’re complete rookies as criminals in comparison to Washington DC lawyers like Comey, McCabe, Mueller, Smith, Monaco, etc. from the Obama and Biden administrations. They have been richly rewarded, are still members in good standing of the Washington DC Bar Association, and will never spend a single day in the Crowbar Hotel.
And there will never be similarly worded columns written by JT to excoriate them. I have a pretty good idea as to why that is true.
