The Maine Event: Shenna Bellows Runs for Governor on Unconstitutional Effort to Bar Trump from Ballot

Maine’s Secretary of State Shenna Bellows is actually running for governor on her willingness to take flagrantly unconstitutional action. Bellows is touting her removal of Trump from the ballot, an effort that led to a unanimous Supreme Court swatting down Colorado and Maine. Bellows is virtually giddy recounting her efforts to stymie democracy and prevent voters from casting their ballots for the man who ultimately won the election.

Democrats have been running this year on the pledges to launch a virtual roundup of Trump officials and supporters for investigations and impeachments. New York congressional candidate George Conway is pledging to change impeachment rules to secure the removal of President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. However, Bellows, the former ACLU executive director in Maine, is parading her willingness to do things barred by the Constitution.

Campaigning on an unconstitutional act rejected 9-0 by the Supreme Court (including three liberal justices) truly captures this age of rage. It is the equivalent to how mobsters “make their bones” by whacking someone. Bellows is effectively saying that she was willing to do what other Democrats were unwilling to do: violate the Constitution.

Shenna Bellows has long embraced extreme political and historical viewpoints, including denouncing the electoral college as a “relic of white supremacy.” Bellows also declared that voter ID laws are “rooted in white supremacy.”

Bellows previously declared that “the Jan. 6 insurrection was an unlawful attempt to overthrow the results of a free and fair election…The insurrectionists failed, and democracy prevailed.” A year after the riot, Bellows continued denouncing the “violent insurrection.”

In her campaign speeches, she is still calling the riot an “insurrection” and heralding her own bravery in seeking to block a democratic vote.

Notably, polls show the public rejecting the claim of an insurrection and neither Trump nor his associates were ever charged with insurrection. Yet, it is certifiably established that Bellows attempted to violate the Constitution and subvert the democratic process.

In its unanimous rejection of the move, the Court declared “Nothing in the Constitution requires that we endure such chaos.” Bellows was one of those agents of chaos.

As Bellows relished the national attention for her consideration of cleansing the ballot, some of us argued that the act would be outrageously unconstitutional.

Ironically, Bellows never got very far in her effort. A superior judge enjoined her, and she repeatedly and unsuccessfully tried to get the matter before a higher court. In other words, it did nothing but generate publicity for Bellows and was an utter failure that ended in the 9-0 loss in the Colorado case. Bellows did not even get to join Colorado in defending the effort.

Even Maine’s Democratic U.S. Rep. Jared Golden denounced Bellows decision.

The irony is crushing. Bellows is posting videos declaring that she has attempted to instruct Trump on the Constitution, but “The President clearly didn’t get the copy of the Constitution I sent him.”

This is akin to Pete Rose sending out copies of the MLB betting policy.

There is no sense of self-awareness as Bellows proclaims, “there are no kings in America…we have a democracy.” She sought to prevent democracy by blocking the candidate who went on to win the election handily.

In my recent book  “Rage and The Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution”, I discuss the rise of the “new Jacobins,” radicals who are calling for the scrapping of the Constitution or utilizing unconstitutional means to achieve political power. “By any means necessary” has become a mantra on the left.

The true tragedy is that this is likely to work in garnering support. Bellows and other Democrats are in a race to the bottom in proving that they are willing to do things that might make others hesitate. While she may be viewed as bonkers by the courts, Bellows is bona fide for the perpetually enraged.

Jonathan Turley is a law professor and the best-selling author of “Rage and the Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution.”

  1. OT : Anyone have a link to the text of the United States v. Wong Kim Ark opinion and transcripts of arguments presented? Pbinca, you have one? Lin?

    Thanks

      1. Thanks, omfk, Chief Justice Fuller and Justice Harlan dissented because foreign nationals issue. There is also something about treaties. China did not allow foreign nationals as citizens. If Ark became a citizen he’d lose his Chinese citizenship. Skimmed the treaty portion. Well worth a read.

      1. Thank you, anon, but computer says Justia is a compromised site. Omfk had the Cornell site. 👍

  2. The “art” of Trump’s “deals” is his ability to convince millions of people that there is a deal when there isn’t

    1. Oooooh, that’s a hum-dinger. Did you come up with that all by yourself while sniffing glue in mommy’s basement? And Elon Musk is a low-IQ ne’er-do-well who has never started a successful company in his life, right?

    2. The “art” of Trump’s “deals” is his ability to live rent free in the minds of millions of leftist TDS patients. Note I said “patients” as the majority of them should be seeing teams of psychiatrists, heavily medicated, not allowed to operate heavy machinery, own real estate, reproduce, or vote as they are a danger to society.

    3. You’re so blind you make Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles look like they had 20/10. TDS blindness, it’s sort of like Grandma blindness, where you saw her naked and you subsequently lose all sight.

  3. Why are you surprised by Bellow’s decision when POTUS Biden has widespread approval from the MSM speaking from Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA on 9/2/22, labeling MAGA Republicans a threat to USA?
What’s more treacherous and treasonous than wishing your own country gets defeated in war, hoping regaing power?
President Trump gets trashed when he drops bombs and trashed when he doesn’t. What remains is that for half a century the Iranian has been indoctrinated to destroy the lifestyle of the West.

    1. Her name is Bellow. Perfect.

Reminds me of the “water buffalo” incedent at Penn which was mishandled by . . . Dean Hackney (his actual name).

    2. Here’s what you MAGAs worship–from “Activism News”:

“OOPS: White House Scrambles to Delete Secret Trump Meltdown Video

The White House posted and then rapidly deleted an hour-long recording of Donald Trump ranting before a group of MAGA pastors at a private Easter luncheon Wednesday, after the footage captured the president saying things he clearly never intended to be made public. Business Insider reporter Bryan Metzger saved the video before it disappeared.

Trump spent part of the faith-focused event unloading on Supreme Court justices, including his own appointees, after storming out of oral arguments earlier that day over his birthright citizenship case. “They always want to show that they’re independent,” Trump complained. “Stupid people.”

He then mocked French President Emmanuel Macron, claiming Macron’s wife “treats him extremely badly” and that he is “still recovering from the right to the jaw” — a bizarre aside while trying to court French support for his Iran war.

Trump also took personal credit for rising Bible sales, compared himself to a king while lamenting that a federal judge blocked construction on his White House ballroom vanity project, and made a candid admission about why he aligns himself with people he knows are bad actors.

“When someone’s nice to me, I love that person. Even if they’re bad people,” Trump said. “I couldn’t care less. I’ll fight to the end for them.”

The White House deleted the footage. The internet did not cooperate.”

  4. This is related to yesterday’s article about Colorado’s string of unconstitutional laws getting smacked down. The politicians care little about constitutionality or the precedential judicial rulings being issued which invalidate their actions (it questionable whether they are even aware of such rulings). Winning the election is all that matters. They say and do things they calculate will win them the most votes on election day. Nothing else is relevant to them.

  5. The subject of today’s little potty piece of daily affirmation is efforts to: “…stymie democracy and prevent voters from casting their ballots “. So, you are thinking that Turley must be referring to Trump and Republicans who have tried to pre-rig the mideterms by adding more districts in red states, trying to have the federal government take over elections–they’re trying to come up with some kind of pretext to send in Trump’s private army of masked thugs–all for the ego of someone who lied to get into office. How about the efforts to deny voting by mail, even though Trump and Republicans use mail voting routinely? They lie about it being a source of fraud–all without evidence.

I know it sounds like a broken record, but we must never forget the lies that Trump told to get the power he now abuses: promised a precipitous drop in grocery prices “on day one”. He had no plan to do this, and, in fact, his illegal tariffs have caused a spike in grocery prices–not to mention the fact that grocery prices will keep going up because of the increased cost of fuel for powering farm equipment and to deliver food items to retail stores. After polls established that the majority of voters opposed Project 2025, Trump denied knowing anything about it and then hired some of the authors and immediately began implementing its provisions. Russell Vought and Stephen Miller had a stack of Executive Orders waiting for his signature–and he didn’t even read what he was signing. Then, there is the lie about bringing down inflation–which is increasing and will keep increasing even if the war Trump started ends today. This war is costing us a billion dollars a day, which Trump intends to pay for by cutting Medicare, Medicaid and other social safety net programs. Oh, and BTW, 10,000 veterans have lost their homes due to foreclosure because Trump eliminated a program to help veterans facing foreclosure. So much for respecting those who served our country.

The biggest whopper is the “no new wars” lie. Wealthy Jews gave Trump hundreds of millions to ensure that whenever Netanyahu decided to attack, that Trump would get the US involved. Netanyahu tried that with several previous presidents–claiming that Israel was going to start bombing and that Iran would retaliate against US bases and other interests, so we better get involved at the outset–but Obama and other previous Presidents didn’t fall for it–so, it didn’t happen, and it shouldn’t have happened now. But then, previous Presidents weren’t beholden to wealthy Jews. The goal is now obvious–to increase Israel’s territory by taking part of Lebanon and trying to kill off Hezbolla. Israel has already stolen the West Bank from the Palestinian people that they have let starve and die of thirst while we did nothing about it.

Trump has yet to articulate any specific, verifiable reason for killing Iran’s leader and starting this war. First, it was NOT “regime change”–then it WAS “regime change”–and now a false claim of succcessfully achieving “regime change”, even though there was NO “regime change”–the Supreme Leader’s son, who is more radical than his father, stepped into the role. We just gave him more reasons to be radical, including killing over a hundred little girls and then lying about it and trying to blame Iran. Then, there’s the lie about Iran’s nuclear weapon capability. There wouldn’t have been any such issue if Trump hadn’t torn up the agreement brokered by Obama that provided for monitoring of Iran’s nuclear enrichment program–which Trump tore up because he is insanely jealous of Barak Obama. Now, if we’re lucky, we might get that deal back, which Trump will lie about and claim it is better than Obama’s deal. Last June, Trump said that Iran’s nuclear enrichment program was “totally and completely obliterated”; come February, all of a sudden, they were allegedly days away from nuking us–even though our own intelligence and international atomic experts say that’s not true.

So now, Trump is demanding that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened–it WAS open before he started bombing Iran—it was closed because of Trump’s stupid move to start bombing. The threat was to destroy the Iranian civilization–that threat alone is a violation of the Geneva Convention. Trump is already a war criminal. How about the 13 service members who are dead now, not to mention those who are seriously injured? Trump does not care–he cares about trying to keep the power he lied to get.

So, what does Turley write about? Certainly not Trump, his lies, his stupidity and the problems he is causing. Turley has to find somerthing adverse about some Democrat to provide the MAGAs with their daily affirmation.

      1. If Democrats would just stop with the stupid, crazy and absurd or in this case, un-Constitutional, Professor Turley would not have anything to write about. And, Gigi/Natasha, it is his blog. He can write about whatever he wants. He is just pointing out all the stupid, crazy and absurd or in this case, un-Constitutional the Democrat party has become.

        1. Upstate – there are so many leftists here who complain incessantly about the topics Professor Turley selects. Does it not strike you as typical leftist behavior: “We have blogs where we write about other things, therefore Professor Turley should not be writing about topics that we dislike.” Everyone has to conform to their thinking, nobody is allowed a dissenting position.

          1. OldManFromKS,
Oh, I have noticed it. Leftist Democrats acting badly and the good professor points that out. They cannot have that. So, they come here, make their demands the good professor write about what they want him to write about. And if he does not, then he is a MAGA, Fox paid whatever. They never come clean and just say the quiet part out loud: They do not want him calling them out for the stupid, crazy, absurd and un-Constitutional policies, view points etc. The funny thing is, moderate Democrats are thinking just like Professor Turley. Bill Maher has been calling them out for years! But they cannot have that. We have seen how they embrace censorship, as HRC went to the EU and wanted them to try to silence Americans using EU laws. We saw how the Biden admin forced companies to censor any dissenting view concerning COVID.
Sounds a whole lot like a fascist party to me.

        2. Dear UpstateFarmer:

You say that Democrats are giving Turley reasons to write. What about this–from YOUR President. How will this go down in history?

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

          From “The Guardian”:

“In a rambling national address on Wednesday, the US president warned that if Iran did not reach an unspecified deal with him, US forces would “hit each and every one of their electric-generating plants” and “bring [Iran] back to the stone ages – where they belong”.

Following through on that threat a day later, Trump posted images of a strike on the unfinished B1 bridge near Tehran, warning: “Much more to follow!”

Erika Guevara Rosas, Amnesty International’s senior director of research, advocacy, policy and campaigns, said: “Intentionally attacking civilian infrastructure such as power plants is generally prohibited. Even in the limited cases that they qualify as military targets, a party still cannot attack power plants if this may cause disproportionate harm to civilians.

“Given that such power plants are essential for meeting the basic needs and livelihoods of tens of millions of civilians, attacking them would be disproportionate and thus unlawful under international humanitarian law, and could amount to a war crime.”

That principle was underlined in 2024 when the international criminal court issued arrest warrants for Russia’s former defence minister Sergei Shoigu and the Russian general Valery Gerasimov, who were accused of directing widespread attacks on Ukraine’s power infrastructure and of causing excessive harm to civilians.

On Thursday, more than 100 US experts in international law from universities including Harvard, Yale, Stanford and the University of California said the conduct of US forces and statements by senior US officials “raise serious concerns about violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law, including potential ‌war crimes”.

Trump is already a war criminal, he lied about the reasons for starting this war, he lied about “regime change”, he has alienated America’s allies, including NATO, which won’t help us because WE started this war and we are cutting social safety net programs to cover blowing through a billion dollars a day–and for what? “The long and complicated history of the world” will not spin Trump’s “presidency” in a positive manner.

          1. Yeah. So he made a comment to scare the IRGC. And it worked. Good.

I dont read crap from the Guardian. They are a bunch of pro-Hamas, anti-Jew, Jew haters. After Oct 7th, the Guardian news room was celebrating the rape and murder of Jews. How do we know this? A Jew who was working there, wrote to The Free Press, and they published it.

            1. I love when you guys reveal exactly who you are….its so much more honest. I mean – take the white hoods off. Let’s see you for what you truly are.

              1. What does “white hoods” have to do with anything I said?
Trump made a comment to scare the IRGC and it worked. How does that have anything to do with “white hoods?”
A Jew was working for the Guardian. After Oct 7th, he felt afraid to be in his own work place as those in the news room were clearly anti-Jew with their hate speech. How does that have anything to do with “white hoods?”
By the way, as I have stated here on the good professor’s blog more than a few times, I am not white.

                1. Upstate – my guess is that the low-IQ anonymous commenter just saw the word “Jew” in your comment and didn’t bother to read what you actually said. That is typical of the low quality we see in the leftist trolls on this blog. Our curse is that we lack worthy adversaries.

            2. Nothing “worked”. There is just a proposal on the table for a 2-week pause. It is outrageous that Trump would threaten to wipe out an entire civilization, to bomb all bridges and power plants to try to bully Iran because of his ego, his historically-low polling numbers and his bad judgment that resulted in closure of the Strait in the first place. A United States President has never behaved like this this before. It is unconscionable and a violation of American values. And, BTW, Trump can’t bomb out an entire civilization. In WW II, we dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan–and we didn’t wipe out their civilization.

The Strait of Hormuz was closed because of Trump’s utter stupidity. He was warned about this before he caved to Netanyahu’s demand for the US to bear the cost of Israel’s quest to increase its territory. According to Reuters and other news outlets, Iran is charging up to $2 million per ship to traverse the Strait. Those costs will get passed on to consumers. The price of petrol, fertilizer and other items shipped through the Strait will not drop substantially, and Iran wants the money to pay to rebuild all of the damage caused by Trump and his stupidity. So, nothing substantial was gained here. And, I wouldn’t take the word of one Jew who was working at the Guardian as being representative of the views and values of the entire Guardian organization. It is a MAGA media tactic to attack non-MAGA media.

              1. Gigi, are your really that dense to actually believe Trump could actually wipe out an entire civilization? And then go on to prove the point by a WWII Japan, atomic bomb comparison, proving yourself wrong?
Trump really caved to Netanyahu? You know that how? You have first hand knowledge of that? Or are you just spewing more MSM conspiracy theories?
Yeah, Reuters and other new outlets just proved why a single country, one that attacked dang near all their Arab neighbors, should not have control of that strait. You just made the argument for all the other Gulf states to end the IRGC, and put in a friendly, free, government that does not murder it own people or oppress women.
You have proven you have no idea what was gained or not gained here. You cannot see into the future. Nor can I. As I stated elsewhere, time will tell what the effects of Trumps actions will be.
Oh! But leftists have, by their own words and in joining in on pro-Hamas, anti-Jew protests their views and values. For the whole world to see.

                1. Boy are YOU dense–I am not the one who threatened to wipe out an entire civilization–it was Trump who threatened that. The example of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs was to prove just how stupid your “President” is–even a nuclear bomb will not wipe out an entire civilization. But, you are deliberately missing the point–it’s the idea that a US President would make such an outrageous threat in the first place that violates the Geneva Convention–and for what reason? Trump lied–he lied about Iran being on the verge of nuking us after claiming, last June, that he “totally and completely obliterated” Iran’s capacity to enrich uranium. He lied about regime change–we just got a younger, more aggressive and more hostile leader with the same name who now has even more reasons to hate and distrust the United States. Trump has proven that the US cannot be depended upon–there were negotiations going on at the time he bombed Iran and they had not reached an impasse. Trump lied about Iran’s ability to shoot down our airplanes. We have lost billions in aircraft and 13 members of our military and billions every day this war of choice continues. AND, Trump is taking money out of Medicare, Medicaid and other social safety programs to pay to help Israel enlarge its territory.

Trump thinks Putin is his buddy, but Putin told the Iranians where to bomb us. What did Trump do? Lifted sanctions. Russia is making out like a bandit. The distrust Trump engendered will come back to bite us down the road. And, Trump has so alienated our EU and NATO allies that they want nothing to do with this war of Trump’s ego. Trump is on tape insulting Macron and his wife–then complains when France won’t help out. Sheesh! Trump is on tape calling SCOTUS Justices “Stupid”. What does it take for you MAGAs to see the reality that Trump is just an arrogant narcissist who only cares about himself?

And, yes, there is no dispute that Netanyahu is the one who goaded Trump into bombing Iran and killing the Supreme Leader–there are numerous reliable news reports on this–look them up for yourself. And, multiple members of Obama’s administration confirm that Netanyahu tried that BS with Obama and he wouldn’t buy it.

What could possibly be gained by what he’s done? Gas prices are up, grocery prices are up. The Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran’s control, and they want to start charging $2 million per ship to pass through, which will help keep prices high. The Strait was closed because Trump started bombing Iran–no other reason. The US is perceived both in the Middle East and in Europe as being run by a chronic, habitual liar with a big ego who started a war based on lies, with no clear objectives, and who makes outrageous threats to wipe out a civilization to try to bully Iran into submission. AND, being opposed to the US fighting Israel’s war to take over territory belonging to the Palestinians and Lebanese is neither anti-Semitic or pro-Hamas.

              2. OH, and now, Trump is suggesting that the US share in the $2 million fee. If you MAGAs need an explanation as to what’s wrong with this, check yourself in to some clinic somewhere for brainwashing treatment.

              3. How many years has the leaders of Iran threaten both the USA & Israel with nuking us.

                Short memory.
                Prez Trump called their bluff.

          2. “. . . more than 100 US experts in international law . . .

Well, then. As long as it’s over 99, then it must be true.

  6. OT, it is not Swalwell and the alleged abuse that surprises me. What is surprising is as this woman points out,
“But it’s just amazing how the Democrats can just push a button and the machinery of the media and legal system just springs into action to eject someone from the party.”
    https://x.com/VickieforNYC/status/2041534333559693740?s=20

    https://amgreatness.com/2026/04/07/report-eric-swalwell-about-to-be-hit-with-shocking-number-of-sexual-harassment-allegations/

    1. USF
I recently watched the Benny Show and he disclosed that Swalwell doesn’t reside in California making him ineligible for Governor. Additionally, his campaign financial disclosure shows that he pays his wife child care services out of his campaign funds. Pays his wife to take care of his own kids, I don’t know if it is illegal but it should be.

What a POS this guy is, he looks like he needs a bath always. I guess it’s just the Democrat muck and slime oozing out and of course bubble out his arse on live television.

      1. “It’s the [“Dictatorship of the Black-Robed Juristocracy”], stupid!”

        – James Carville
        ___________________

The corrupt judicial branch—in this case, the Commiefornia rendition—ignored the law and upheld Swalwell’s nonexistent eligibility, allowing him to remain on the ballot.

That’s what the corrupt judicial branch does: Rewrite and unconstitutionally amend the law by “interpretation,” usurp the legislative power, and legislate from the bench while it simultaneously usurps executive power and executes from the very same bench.

The singular American failure is the judicial branch, with emphasis on the Supreme Court.

    2. Things we learned in the last 3 presidential voting cycles: Democrats hate voters, voting, choice, and popular candidates. In 2016 dems corruptly stole the nomination from bernie Sanders and handed it to the all time most disliked candidate in history hillary. In 2020 they blamed covid to keep Biden in a basement so no one would notice he was brain dead. In 2024 they outlawed primaries again to hand the nomination again to biden. Oh, and of course they spent most of 4 years illegally attempting to toss Trump in prison and illegally keep him off of the ballot, you know because choice and all. At the last minute they again outlawed primary voting to hand the nomination to the prematurely aged half black alcoholic camela Harris. When Harris dropped out of the race in 2020 she amassed a startling and amazing 2% approval and lost every primary by humongous margins. Still though when she dropped out she blamed sexist members of her own party.

  7. Please, stop referring to the United States as a “democracy”. We have never been a democracy. We have always been a republic. Big difference. I think some, not all, who state we are a democracy want us to ignore the Constitution. Democracy is one step up from mob rule, and might be so.

  8. “I surrendered — and I did it better than anyone. Tremendous surrender. Nobody surrenders like me. Smart, strong, classy. They said it couldn’t be done — I proved them wrong. Winning even when I give up. Historic. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
    —-President Donald J. Trump

    1. This is what happens when a stupid man thinks he’s a smart man and stupid people elect him to be president!

        1. Trump has humiliated this country?

Hmmm let me think, Trump cutting out the haunches of a Nuclear Iran or Barry the ferry and Larry Sinclair bobbing for apples in a limo while all coked up?!

Hmmm this is a tough one.

      1. Seems to me things are going pretty well.
        Inflation down.
        Private employment UP
        Government employment DOWN
        Border secure.
        1M+ illegal aliens deported.
Lawfare attempting to thwart that slowly failing on appeal.
A peace in Gaza that appears to be holding.
        Maduro in jail.
        Cuba collapsing.
Iran on its heels – the regime may not survive the next two weeks as the Iranian people return to the streets against a much weakened IRGC/Basij.
Agreed to end nuclear program – substantially greed to the remainder of Trump’s demands.
Agreed to open the straights of Hormuz – though that is really more o a problem for China and Europe.
Wants normalized relations – ends to sanctions and unfreezing of Iranian assets in return

Is anyone not OK with that – so long as they comply with the other demands they have accepted ?

        Russia and China significantly weakened.
We MAY be nearing a flip against Russia in the Ukraine war – internal opposition appears to be building.
Russia is running out of equipment., tanks, soldiers, and money. Ukraine is reducing russian energy exports and the US is leading the west to shutdown the Russian shadow fleet.

If this is your idea of losing – “Please sir can I have more ?”

        1. John Say,
          Well said and spot on.
There will be effects from Trump’s actions for years to come. Time will tell what that looks like.

          1. Upstate, John’s list is compelling and contrasts with the Democrats and the Biden administration. Not only will there be positive effects from Trump’s actions, but his win saved this country and may have saved the world.

            1. S. Meyer,
Well said. While the Gigi/Natasha’s of the world gnash their teeth, hang on to every word from rags like the Guardian, the rest of us are looking for the bigger picture. Again, it will be years of effects of Trump’s actions will be felt on the world. He has effectively reshaped the global energy markets. By all appearances that has set Iran back decades, and is going to affect China for years if not decades. Even the Gulf states are rethinking their logistics to get oil to market and by pass the strait of Hormuz.

              1. Creative disruption: Trump has reduced the rubble and danger so that a better world can grow.

                1. Are you really this blind, or are you being paid to shovel this drivel? What “bigger picture”? Before he started this war, Iran did not have any ballistic missiles capable of reaching the US–but they did have missiles capable of reaching Israel. Trump tore up the agreement brokered by Obama to monitor Iran’s nuclear enrichment program, solely because Trump is insanely jealous of Obama’s popularity and success. The Strati of Hormuz was open but now it is closed, Iran has a supreme leader with the same name. Trump killed his father and bombed over 100 school girls and tried to blame Iran. Iran is stronger than ever and has even more reasons to hate the United States. Trump has insulted and alienated our NATO and EU allies, and they want nothing to do with him. We’ve already lost 13 brave Americans, hundreds more have been injured, we’ve lost billions in aircraft, and this war is costing the US over a billion dollars a day, which Trump intends to pay for by cutting Medicare, Medicaid and other social safety net programs. We could have already funded Obamacare for 2 years for everyone for the billions this war has already cost us–remember that Republicans said we couldn’t afford the Obamacare subsidies?

Oh, and yesterday, it was disclosed that Trump tried to bully Pope Leo by calling the Papal emissary to Washington and tried threatening him over the Pope criticizing Trump. The Pope has cancelled his planned trip to the US for later this year. The Pope cannot be bullied–don’t forget he’s from Chicago. Remember the line from “The Untouchables”? Mountie Captain: “Mr. Ness! I do not approve of your methods.” Ness: Yeah? Well, you’re not from Chicago.”

Netanyahu’s success in bringing Trump on board can be traced to a series of strategic decisions, according to two Israeli officials involved in talks between the two sides. The initial step came on Feb. 4, when the Israeli Prime Minister visited the White House for the first time since Trump returned to office. Sitting around the long table in the Cabinet Room, Netanyahu reminded Trump that Iran had plotted to assassinate him, according to one of the officials who attended the meeting. He then went through a detailed slide deck outlining how, in his view, Iran was inching closer to crossing the nuclear threshold: increasing its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and advancing its centrifuge technology. “Look, Donald,” Netanyahu said, “this has to be tackled, because they’re racing forward.” He then paused for dramatic effect and looked Trump directly in the eye. “You have a nuclear Iran on your watch.” THERE WASN’T GOING TO BE ANY “NUCLEAR IRAN”.

Trump is under the control of Netanyahu, who is hell-bent on acquiring more land for Israel by bombing and killing Palestinians and the Lebanese. Israel already stole the West Bank and moved in 800,000 Jews, a move which the UN has condemned. Netanyahu needed the US to back him, so Miriam Edelson gave Trump hundreds of millions of dollars to do Netanyahu’s bidding. Netanyahu saw the writing on the wall–Trump’s poll numbers are historically low and keep going down, Democrats are flipping previously held Republican seats, and Trump couldn’t bully even ruby-red Indiana into creating more districts to pad the House of Representatives. If Congress flips Democratic after the midterms as is predicted, Trump may not only get impeached, but removed from office, so time was of the essence. So, Netanyahu tried the same lies rejected by Obama and other previous Presidents–that Iran was planning to attack Israel and if Israel retaliated, Iran would attack US bases in the Middle East’ therefore, the US needed to strike first. From “Time” Magazine:

“Through a mixture of audacity, ruthlessness, and luck, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has upended the balance of power between Israel and Iran, its most threatening regional adversary, and remade the Middle East in just 20 months. But his most important victory may prove to have been winning over President Donald Trump on the need to attack Tehran with the full force of the Israeli military.

Of course, we know that Iran was not close to a nuclear bomb, confirmed by the IAEA, and never had any ballistic missiles that could reach the US. Trump is also beholden to Iran’s rivals in the Middle East: UAE, which purchased $2 B of his worthless cryptocurrency, to Qatar that donated a flying palace and to Saudi Arabia that bailed Jared Kushner out of a real estate disaster, and from which Jared is trying to get even more money–they would approve of bombing Iran. Whiskey Pete, who thinks war is some kind of video game and who is blatantly unqualified to be the Secretary of Defense, convinced Trump that the US could just go over there, kill the Supreme Leader, like they did with Venezuela, bomb some places and get out quickly, and that somehow, magically, the Iranian people would take over the government. He either didn’t listen to people who told him that Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz, or his incompetent staff failed to advise him. It’s obvious that the long-term effect of closing the Strait of Hormuz on the global cost of petrol wasn’t considered or understood, and still isn’t.

So, how did Trump react? First, he demanded that NATO bail him out–they refused. Next, he said we don’t need the Strait of Hormuz because we have enough of our own petroleum–seemingly either not understanding or not listening to those who tried to explain that petroleum is a global commodity. Losing 20% of the world supply of petroleum by the closing of the Strait of Hormuz would jack up gas prices in the US–which is exactly what has happened. Seeing that the public, including lots of Republicans, are upset over gas being well over $4 a gallon, Trump then started blustering about forcing Iran to re-open the Strait, threatening to “wipe out an entire civilization”, threatening to bomb or take over Kharg Island. Iran didn’t back down and Trump looked like the fool he is.

It is MAGA propaganda that Trump has somehow “set back” Iran for decades. Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz, through which passes 20% of the world’s supply of petroleum, and Trump has not forced Iran to re-open it. Trump bragged that Iran couldn’t shoot down our aircraft–and then it proved him wrong when it shot down a fighter jet with 2 pilots being forced to eject over Iranian territory. That event proved that Trump lied when he said that Iran doesn’t have any missiles. We either don’t know where all of their missiles are, or how many they have, or our government is lying to us again. The US has apparently sunk some Iranian navy vessels, but Iran has enough missiles and drones to attack any ship that attempts to get through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is at least as powerful as it always was, it has more reasons to hate us, the regime did not change, and, if we are lucky, this war will end with another deal just like the one Obama got–to monitor Iran’s nuclear enrichment program. In the meantime, Trump has violated the Geneva Convention by threatening to wipe out an entire civilization, he has proved that he can’t stop lying, that he makes threats and then backs down, and lied about the reasons for starting this war in the first place. America will be poorer to the tune of billions, if not trillions, of dollars, we’ve lost 13 brave Americans–and for what? So Israel can increase its territory by stealing land from Lebanon?

                  1. Do you think the weight of your responses equals intelligence? If so, you are wrong; it makes you appear ignorant. That was confirmed after reading your first ten words, after which I stopped reading your drivel.

If you wish to get an answer, keep your response short, on target, and use only one argument, reasonably presented.

        2. John Say, you’re clearly nuts. It’s a crazy narrative, but the math doesn’t quite check out. Most of those ‘1M+ deportations’ are just self-deportation estimates, not actual removals, and private sector job growth has slowed to a crawl. As for the Middle East, we aren’t at ‘peace’—we’re at a 14-day ceasefire with Iran that could collapse by lunch tomorrow. It’s less a ‘Golden Age’ and more of a very expensive, high-stakes gamble. Oh, and inflation is growing. Faster than expected.

          1. What did you have before Obama and what do you have after obama,X? Zero. Less than zero…

          2. Inflation is growing… Talk to Biden you fool
During President Biden’s term (January 2021 – January 2025), inflation in the US rose to 40-year highs before cooling down, with cumulative inflation growing by over 17% to 20% by the end of his administration. While inflation peaked at 9.0% in June 2022

        3. John Say, that’s a lot of talk with little factual backing.

Having “standing” just means you’re allowed to walk into the courtroom; it doesn’t mean you win the case. The 2026 Bost decision addressed procedural standing (the right to challenge rules), but it didn’t change the fact that in 2020, Trump’s team failed to produce admissible evidence of fraud. You can have all the standing in the world, but if your “evidence” is a hearsay affidavit from someone who saw a “suspicious van,” you still lose on the merits.

You say not a single 2020 case was decided on the merits or allowed discovery.

This is factually false. While many were dismissed for standing, several high-profile cases—like Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. v. Boockvar in Pennsylvania—were decided specifically because the campaign failed to provide evidence to support their claims. Judge Brann (a Republican) famously noted the legal team provided “strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations.

“These convictions are 1A-protected speech and will be overturned like the obstruction charges.”

The SCOTUS Fischer ruling narrowed the “obstruction” charge, but it didn’t touch the convictions for Assaulting a Federal Officer, Seditious Conspiracy, or Violent Entry. Planning to “demand” a congressman change their vote is speech; planning to breach a perimeter with bear spray and zip ties (as seen in the Oath Keeper and Proud Boy trials) is a felony. “Planning” was documented in thousands of encrypted texts, not just “emails about protests.

On Pam Bondi, Bondi wasn’t fired for being “soft”; she was fired because she couldn’t deliver on the impossible. Trump grew frustrated with her handling of the Epstein files and her inability to find “smoking gun” evidence of a “deep state” conspiracy that multiple investigations (including the Durham report) already failed to materialize. Replacing her with Todd Blanche—his own personal defense lawyer—isn’t a “return to justice”; it’s the definition of a personal legal shield.

“We are “now starting to see” the evidence of massive fraud. ROFL! It’s been six year! If the evidence is “just now” appearing, it’s either the slowest investigative work in human history or, more likely, it’s being manufactured to fit the narrative. Every major audit, including the partisan “Cyber Ninjas” audit in Arizona, ended up confirming the original results or even finding more votes for the opposition.

Saying someone lost because of ‘standing’ is like a runner claiming they won the race but were disqualified because they didn’t sign the entry form. Even if they had signed the form, they still finished last. Standing gets you the trial; evidence gets you the win. Trump had the best lawyers money could buy, and they came up empty in 60 different courts. At some point, you have to stop blaming the ‘kangaroo courts’ and start looking at the lack of proof.

      1. John Say,
And that is why the late shows are in real decline. It is like six year olds telling six year old mentality jokes.

  9. Daniel George Bunting:
O Freedom, what liberties are taken in thy name!

Now that’s what I’d call a true pessimist.

  10. Given her malevolent authoritarian leftist ideology, her actions make perfect sense and will appeal to many Democrats. Leftists are now fully nihilist, that is, they reject any facts which clash with their ideology and all human values, including the crucial value of freedom and individual rights to human life, as such. Therefore she and other leftists view the Constitution as simply an impediment to imposing the police state which the left is fiercely trying to establish in America and world wide and ignore it completely in their theory and practice of government.

  11. “However, Bellows, the former ACLU executive director in Maine, is parading her willingness to do things barred by the Constitution.”

The ACLU abandoned neutrality a long time ago, turning itself into an ideological arm of the left. It is no longer an impartial defender of the Bill of Rights.

  12. It is not unconstitutional to remove Trump from the ballot, quite the opposite, 14A3S requires that Trump be deemed ineligible for office. How far has Turley dropped that he is now openly advocating for violating the Constitution.

    1. Trump was never found in violation of 14A 3S. Just as no one was found guilty of insurrection at Jan 6th. Those are false leftist and MSM narratives.

      1. A total of 14 people were found guilty of seditious conspiracy in connection with the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol attack, involving members of the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys extremist groups – four of whom literally pleaded guilty. This was literally a 5 second Google search.

            1. As usual Meyer is a stranger to the truth.
The Fischer vs USA ruling did not vacate a single conviction for obstruction. It simply narrowed the use of the “obstruction of an official proceeding” charge, and required DOJ to go back and review the convictions. The vast majority of those convicted of obstruction were also charged with other crimes so their convictions still stood.

After review, DOJ dropped only 60 of the hundreds of charges of obstruction as failing to meet the Fischer standard, and of those only 27 had been charged ONLY with obstruction. So eventually only 27 people had their convictions vacated.

So your claim that 250 cases of obstruction were vacated is absolutely false.

              1. Are you illiterate? About 250 cases of obstruction were vacated. Those were charges that disappeared.

            2. And had this continued for longer many more would have been.

The entire prosecution was a massive evidenceless violation of the 1st amendment.

Most of the charges suffered from the same problems as the 18 USC 1512(c) stuff scotus through out.

              1. Thank you, John. I focused on obstruction alone and said nothing about the other inequities. Anonymous is a poor thinker.

        1. And each of these convictions would have been overturned eventually.

No one cares what those of you on the left can manage in kangaroo courts..
Do you think Trump would have been re-elected if any but the lunatic fringe left actually beleived the lawfare you engaged in was legitimate ?

One of the reasons that Bondi was fired is because she was NOT doing enough to go after those on the left who weaponized the legal system politically – not just against Trump, but against ordinary people.

With respect to your faux convictions – most – nearly all of these people were not even in DC on j6.
They were convicted over emails that discussed protesting a stolen election – which is 1A protected free speech.

These convictions would have had EXACTLY the same fate at the supreme court as the 18 USC 1512(c) convictions did when they finally reached the supreme court.

Of all the convictions of any kind that those of you on the left secured – do you have a single one where there is evidence of anyone PLANNING anything actually illegal ?

Absolutely protestors planned on demanding their congressmen refuse to certify this election.
          That is their RIGHT.

I would further note that while SCOTUS ignored Trump in late 2020, These and other election related cases have reached SCOTUS in the past few years – and the left is LOSING all of them.

SCOTUS has asserted absolutely that a candidate in an election ALWAYS has standing to challenge an election. That wipes out nearly all your 70+ cases Trump supposedly lost.
ALL of them were lost on Standing – you do not have the right to sue, which SCOTUS has now gone on record as saying you absolutely do.
Ripeness, or laches – you can not sue because it is too early, and you can not sue because it is too late.

Contra left wing nuts there is NOT a single 2020 election case that was decided on the merits.
There was not a single case that was allowed to go to evidentiary hearings or where discovery was allowed.

And NOW we are starting to see the evidence of the massive fraud that took place in 2020 – and in some instances EVERY election.

It is self evident that most major democratic cities are so corrupt they shoul dnevber be allowed to run any election.

    2. As usual Danny you are short of a think.
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that individual states lack authority to enforce Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment with respect to federal offices,” Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows wrote in a modified ruling, obtained by The Hill. “Consistent with my oath and obligation to follow the law and the Constitution, and pursuant to the Anderson decision, I hereby withdraw my determination that Mr. Trump’s primary petition is invalid.”
It is obvious that the Secretary of State for the state of Maine thinks differently than you.
Just resisting Trump at every turn points out a laziness in researching your position before speaking.
I understand. You just don’t like to read.

      1. TiT

SCOTUS ruled that way – because:
The 14th amendment in its entirety is a list of RESTRICTIONS on state power, not a grant of state power.
AND because the main text of the constitution establishes the requirements for eligability for each federal office and delegates the enforcement power to the federal government – usually congress.

SCOTUS has ruled for over 250 years that States can not impose their own additional constraints on federal office holders NOR can the states enforce constituional constraints.

This was NOT a surprise decision.

Most legal analysts fixated on the question of whether J6 was an insurrection – it was not,
but pretended THAT was the crux of the issue. The State courts that allowed this nonsense similarly fixated on that question.

SCOTUS CORRECTLY ruled that BEFORE you can address the question of whether there was an insurection, You have to address where the constitution and the 14th amendment places eligability determinations for Federal Offices. And that is unambiguously with the Federal govenrment, and specifically with Congress.

Just as sanctuary cities and states claim they need not enforce federal immigration law – and in fact SCOTUS has repeatedly found that State CAN NOT usurp Federal authorities – even when the Federal govenrment does not do as it is required.

        The same is true here.

States do not have the power to remove someone running for federal office for reasons of ineligability.
Because eleigability id set in the constitution and enforced by congress not the states.

SCOTUS did not decide the “insurrection” issue – they did not need to.

Further had Congress impeached and removed Trump in 2021, or had Congress in 2025 refused to certify Trump as president because he was an “insurectionist” – there would be no appeal to the federal courts.

What constitutes eligability for federal office is the exclusive domain of the constitution, and exclusively enforced by congress.

        1. John Say,

The 9-0 vote was just about who gets to hold the pen, not what the Constitution actually says. Even the conservative Justice Barrett agreed the majority went too far by claiming only Congress can act. If the 14th Amendment required a ‘mother may I’ from Congress to work, we wouldn’t have had a Civil Rights movement. The majority didn’t follow the law; they built a fortress around the candidate to stop anyone else from asking the ‘insurrection’ question again.

The 5-Justice Majority: Claimed that Section 3 is not “self-executing” and requires an Act of Congress to function.

The 4-Justice Minority: (Barrett, Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson) argued this was a reach. They agreed states can’t do it, but they slammed the majority for “shutting the door” on other federal enforcement (like federal courts or future challenges) that the Constitution doesn’t actually forbid.

We don’t need a special Act of Congress to sue for civil rights violations under the 14th Amendment; the courts just enforce it. The minority justices argued the majority “invented” a special rule just for Section 3 to protect Trump from future litigation.

    3. False. While SCOTUS ruled on narrow, but extremely solid grounds – EVERYTHING in the 14th amendment i a RESTRICTION on state power – not a delegation of power to the states, even your claim regarding the 14th amendment easily FAILS under ANY interpretation.

I would further note that All Restrictions on eligability for federal office are in the CONSTITUTION and ONLY federally enforceable – in the case of the president read Article II of the constitution.
States do NOT have the power to determine eligibility for Federal Elections.
This BTW was litigated by the states and LOST long before Trump

There was no insurrection. I do not even agree with Turley that there was a riot of any consequence.
Certainly not one such as occurs in Portland hundreds of times over the past couple of years.

Regardless, no protesters came to the capital with guns.
Ken Burns documentary on the american revolution is streaming now – THAT is what insurrection looks like.
You can also look at the history of the civil war – THAT is what insurrection looks like.

Not a bunch of protesters complaining about a stolen election.

We see left wing nuts engage in riots and conduct that comes far closer to meeting the definition of an inssurection – than Jan 6.

Jan 6. is a huge deal – SOLELY because the right, middle class men and women, people with families, ordinary law abiding people came out to protest a stolen election.

That is NOT true of ANY left wing nut protests or riots.
You do not get ordinary people out to your protests.

When the middle class protests – the world changes.

It was absolutely necessary to torture J6 protesters, to bring the full weight of left wing nut government down on them, because unlike left wing nut protests – the world changes when ordinary people protest.
And the left can not have that happening again.

    4. “. . . 14A3S requires that Trump be deemed ineligible for office.”

By the decree of a Secretary of State (which is what Bellows was)?

      I must’ve missed that line in 14A.

  13. Some write saying the lack of historical education is the problem. However, the socialist in academia are very well educated. The explanation for this predominance of the leftist in education can only be explained by their belief that they are elite and being so it only follows that they should be in control of what you hear, think and speak. The electorate spoke out by electing Trump and by doing so they let the elitist know we’re not as dumb as you think we are even though you think we are in the basket of deplorables. Historically this has always been the mind set of the socialist. They hide it well until they don’t.

    1. TiT,
      Well said.
The elites seem to be in love with their own self-proclaimed higher education. They think they are so smart we do not see through them, but we do.

    2. TiT

      As naseem talib noted IYI

      Intellctual yet idiot.

      These are well educated people.
Often steeped in what is necescary to survive and thrive in the artificial world of academia.

But they are neither educated nor intellectually competent with respect to the real world.

They either do not know history or they are dismissive of it.

To be clear – it is not marxism that has failed. It is not communism, or socialism – though these have ALWAYS failed – and for many reasons, among them the absence of well defined property rights. The absence of a workable system for determing prices (the socialist calculation problem), andthe failure to take into account human nature.

But beyond marxism, communism and socialism – ALL Big Government FAILS.

Why ? Because in reality government is the least efficient means to accomplish anything that does not require government to accomplish.

Government is FORCE, its legitimate role is those problems and ONLY those problems that REQUIRE force, that can not be solved any other way.

Next, because Government is FORCE, it is absolute necescity to limit it as much as possible – because

Power Corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The left loves to fixate on the evils of business, A constant theme in entertainment is powerful businesses engaged in unchecked criminal conduct.

In the real world barring private actors from initiating the use of force, little beyond the normal checks of the free market are necessary to preclude criminal conduct in business.

It is not that businesses would not do evil if they could. It is that absent the ability to initiate force – which is reserved to government, bad conduct in business is eventually outed and consumers go elsewhere.

We have seen businesses tossed right and left trying to navigate the culture wars.
Disney has lost half its market capitalization – because parents will not buy woke B$ for their kids

Budwiesers sales are down 25% because it put Dylan Mulvaney on a can of Bud light.

This is relatively minor bad conduct being clobbered by the free market.

Do you really beleive that if McDonalds or Google engaged in truly heinous conduct they would last very long ?

Can you name a top 10 fortune 500 company from 1960 that is still in the top 10 today ?
Many are bankrupt or just a shadow of what they were.

In 60 years the same will be true of Apple, Amazon, Google, …..

That is hard to imagine – but the demise of RCA, Kodak, Polariod, the diminishment of HP, IBM, ATT, ….
Was also imposible to immagine 60 years ago.

  14. First the leftist say Trump is crazy for bombing Iran and then when he is coming close to an agreement they say he is a coward for not bombing Iran. The next thing you know they will be against fair elections in Iran just like they’re against fair elections in Maine and Colorado. All hell would have broken loose if a politician from a red state tried to keep Kamala Harris off the ballot. How is there a space in your conscience that justifies voting for these self serving leftist. Conscience! Conscience! We ain’t got no stinkin conscience!

    1. Hold up. It was TRUMP who said he would never get us into another war in the Middle East. It was TRUMP who criticized Bush for involving us in the Middle East. It was TRUMP who said that if Harris was president, that she would get us into “WWIII.” It was Vance who said that the most compelling reason to vote for Trump was because he wouldn’t get us involved in any more foreign wars. And now he’s the one doing it. That’s why the Dems and half of the GOP is rightly criticizing him. Because he lies. And just two weeks ago he said the only way we’ll stop bombing Iran is if they unconditionally surrender! But he has now agreed to a 10 point plan that makes them stronger than they were before. And in the process he’s wasted billions of YOUR DOLLARS – killed YOUR FELLOW CITIZENS…and radicalized a new and much younger Iranian regime against us – all the while distancing us from our longest European allies.

      1. It’s not a war. The other side are merely terrorist slaves of the ruling monarchy of bloodline preposterous of mohammed the false prophet. The females of slavery had to cover themselves as they do today. Penalty can be death.

It’s a middle eastern skirmish with a totalitarian theocracy.

      2. Please reference where in Agenda 47 Trump promised any of the things you claim ?

We can debate the merits of Trump’s actions.
Time will tell us if they turn out to be no different from those of Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden, ….

What Trump promised is to end forever wars.

Trump will be a hero or a goat based on the actual outcomes of his actions – whether those are domestic or foreign.

Europe is no longer a significant nations security interest of the US – that has nothing to do with Trump,
beyond that he recognizes it and is acting on it ahead of those still trying to relitigate the cold war.

China not Russia is out major threat – and even that may not be true for long.

US global priorities are in order:
The anglosphere – England, Canada, Austrailia, New Zealand
        The Western Hemisphere
        and the pacific rim.

Our interests in Europe are diminishing. Our interests in the mid east – despite this conflict with Iran are diminishing. We have no consequential interests in Africa.
To the extent that those are in any developed nations interests – they are european interests not the US.

Thus far – despite left wing ranting and some republican opposition – Venezuela has worked out well – not perfectly, but well. Venezeuala is far less of a US problem today than a year ago.
Will Venezueala return to a stable democracy ? That is all of our hope.
Is Venezeulla far less of a US problem today than a year ago – absolutely.
If that is all that Trump accomplishes with Venezuella that will be a win.
But Venezuela could become a true prosperous western democracy by the end of Trump’s term.
If so Trump gets credit. Just as if it declines into a mess Trump gets the blame,

The same is True of Iran. We can not right now know if this cease fire holds – though the Gaza one has so far. We can not right now know the extent this conflict will change Iran.
If the result is a mess – if we get the rule of the Ayatolahs on steriods – Trump will get the blame.
But if we get current venezeulla – a country with a regime we do not like, but with the leaders that possed a real problem gone – that is a significant victory. If Iran remains a theocracy but i no longer a significant threat to the stability of the mideast – Trump gets the credit.
If however we have to keep going back to do this again every couple of years – Trump gets the blame.

People left and right do not want another Iraq, afghanistan, Vietnam, or even libya, or syria.
Afghanistan is the perfect example. The US had the right, and super majoritities of american supported
removing the Taliban from power in Afghanistan – which we did baddly in about 30 days.
The increasingly did not support the forever war in afghanistan, staying their, trying to nation build.
Not that we are opposed to nation building, just that we will NOT support with time blood and treasure nation building.
There are more and less prefered outcomes in Iran – but any outcome in which Iran is not a threat to US interests and allies is a Trump Win. Regime change and a modern democratic iran would be a HUGE win.

It is also likely that Cuba is falling on Trump’s watch – Trump may have to do very little to get that result.
Regardless he will get the credit.

Unnoticed by most the military and foreign actions of the past year have significantly weakened Russia and China.

Trump will get credit for any peace in Ukraine. He will get more credit for what is increasingly likely – a peace more favorable to Ukraine.

Trump will get credit for a weakened Russia, for a weakened China – and booth of those are near certain.
How much weaker is less certain.

I personally do not expect Putin and Xi to be world leaders by the end of Trump’s term.
There is small chance that will happen before the 2026 elections.

Are the majority of people opposed to this conflict ? Absolutely – just as super majorities favored going into Iraq and Afghanistan.

But this opposition is not very strong and will not hurt Trump, MAGA, or republicans if the US costs in lives is low – which it has been, and if the outcome proves better that the status quo ante which seems highly likely.

Conversely if this becomes Afghanistan or Iraq – it will hurt Trump badly.

Regardless no one cares whether you think Trump lied.
No one cares if Trump actually technically lied.

Trump supporters take him seriously – not literally.
If this turns into Afghanistan – they will turn on him viciously.

If the results are good they will not care about your claims regarding what Trump supposedly promised.

  15. Good comments today! Amazing how truly little our citizens know about the Constitution. If they only could see what life would be like without the Constitution! Oh yes — imagine living in Iran with a choice between free speech and death. Pretty scary. This could be us unless the moderate Dems rise up and demand back their party. Otherwise this trend will continue.

    1. Hey – remember when Trump wrote this about overturning the Constitution on Truth Social:

“Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” Trump wrote in a post on the social network Truth Social.

      Did this infuriate you too?

  16. (as an afterthought, maybe Bellows is influenced by the literal definition of her surname…)

  17. There is an old maxim that cautions against the “illusory truth effect.” It goes something like: the more that a lie or wrongful/false/misleading premise is repeated, the more likely that people will begin to believe it.
Leftists, Democrat politicians, academia, and MEDIA know this and rely on its premise to achieve their objectives of influence upon an American public–a trusting public that does not always seek out the selectively-omitted facts or alternative views that were downplayed/discredited,–or casually mentioned as one-sentence perfunctory acknowledgements. (And an education does not always help- without development of critical thinking skills and curiosity.)
There is soooo much “information” out there that we tend to stick with-and believe- what we hear or see most often.
    Aye, there’s the rub.

    1. Lin
That’s the George Castanza effect, it’s not a lie if you say it enough until you believe it.

In nature it’s known as the lemming effect. It’s not the fall that’s fatal, it’s the landing.

  18. Honestly, it’s partly generational. So many in her cohort are utterly brainwashed nitwits bordering on sociopathy in their entitlement, and she was likely, at least initially, placed rather than elected like the squad or Kamala. The dems are Hollywood style favoritism and nepotism (AKA aristocracy) to a T.

Follow the money and her family tree, and understand that to someone like her, her gotcha comments and fealty to ideology are what is righteous, rather than her acuity, ability, or desire to lift others up. It’s mostly about her own ego and personal comfort levels and preserving them at any cost. They are children cosplaying as grown ups.

    1. James,
      Well said.
I would add they have not learned history either. Or should I say, the leftists in public education make a point of not teaching history as it should be taught. If history was taught as it should be, this people would know how socialism has failed numerous times in the past.
And civics class has been removed at a time when it is needed most. I think that is not a mistake but by design.

      1. How would you know if civics classes have been removed? Are you still in grammar school? You sound like it.

        1. This is the Left in a nutshell, ladies and gentlemen. They are incapable of adding anything of value to a given discussion, so instead they resort to pithy insults to try and elicit an emotional response from you, as if it makes any difference at all even on the rare occasion that they succeed. Their party remains an extremist, anti-American domestic terrorism group, and more and more Americans are waking up to the fact by the day even despite it enjoying the full support of the propaganda media.

      2. @Upstate

And I would agree with you, good sir, on all of your points. 👍🏼 I feel for you being in the less crazy part of NY.
