Maine’s Secretary of State Shenna Bellows is actually running for governor on her willingness to take flagrantly unconstitutional action. Bellows is touting her removal of Trump from the ballot, an effort that led to a unanimous Supreme Court swatting down Colorado and Maine. Bellows is virtually giddy recounting her efforts to stymie democracy and prevent voters from casting their ballots for the man who ultimately won the election.
Democrats have been running this year on the pledges to launch a virtual roundup of Trump officials and supporters for investigations and impeachments. New York congressional candidate George Conway is pledging to change impeachment rules to secure the removal of President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. However, Bellows, the former ACLU executive director in Maine, is parading her willingness to do things barred by the Constitution.
Campaigning on an unconstitutional act rejected 9-0 by the Supreme Court (including three liberal justices) truly captures this age of rage. It is the equivalent to how mobsters “make their bones” by whacking someone. Bellows is effectively saying that she was willing to do what other Democrats were unwilling to do: violate the Constitution.
Shenna Bellows has long embraced extreme political and historical viewpoints, including denouncing the electoral college as a “relic of white supremacy.” Bellows also declared that voter ID laws are “rooted in white supremacy.”
Bellows previously declared that “the Jan. 6 insurrection was an unlawful attempt to overthrow the results of a free and fair election…The insurrectionists failed, and democracy prevailed.” A year after the riot, Bellows continued denouncing the “violent insurrection.”
In her campaign speeches, she is still calling the riot an “insurrection” and heralding her own bravery in seeking to block a democratic vote.
Notably, polls show the public rejecting the claim of an insurrection and neither Trump nor his associates were ever charged with insurrection. Yet, it is certifiably established that Bellows attempted to violate the Constitution and subvert the democratic process.
In its unanimous rejection of the move, the Court declared “Nothing in the Constitution requires that we endure such chaos.” Bellows was one of those agents of chaos.
As Bellows relished the national attention for her consideration of cleansing the ballot, some of us argued that the act would be outrageously unconstitutional.
Ironically, Bellows never got very far in her effort. A superior judge enjoined her, and she repeatedly and unsuccessfully tried to get the matter before a higher court. In other words, it did nothing but generate publicity for Bellows and was an utter failure that ended in the 9-0 loss in the Colorado case. Bellows did not even get to join Colorado in defending the effort.
Even Maine’s Democratic U.S. Rep. Jared Golden denounced Bellows decision.
The irony is crushing. Bellows is posting videos declaring that she has attempted to instruct Trump on the Constitution, but “The President clearly didn’t get the copy of the Constitution I sent him.”
This is akin to Pete Rose sending out copies of the MLB betting policy.
There is no sense of self-awareness as Bellows proclaims, “there are no kings in America…we have a democracy.” She sought to prevent democracy by blocking the candidate who went on to win the election handily.
In my recent book “Rage and The Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution”, I discuss the rise of the “new Jacobins,” radicals who are calling for the scrapping of the Constitution or utilizing unconstitutional means to achieve political power. “By any means necessary” has become a mantra on the left.
The true tragedy is that this is likely to work in garnering support. Bellows and other Democrats are in a race to the bottom in proving that they are willing to do things that might make others hesitate. While she may be viewed as bonkers by the courts, Bellows is bona fide for the perpetually enraged.
Jonathan Turley is a law professor and the best-selling author of “Rage and the Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution.”
Bellows has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution as the lawful political system of the United States? There’s evidence that can be proved she lied and attempts to subvert the Constitution? What is the reason she hasn’t been charged?
More MAGA lies–this time–about the economy. From “MSN”:
“Throughout 2025, as the U.S. economy struggled, Republican officials repeatedly insisted that good news was on the way and Americans wouldn’t have to wait too much longer to see satisfying results.
As recently as August, for example, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confidently predicted to a national television audience that the U.S. economy is “really going to pick up in the fourth quarter” of 2025.
It did not pick up in the fourth quarter of 2025. CNBC reported:
[T]he Commerce Department reported that economic growth was even slower than previously reported for the fourth quarter of 2025. Gross domestic product, a measure of all goods and services produced, rose just 0.5% on a seasonally adjusted annualized rate. […]. The department said the downward revision came primarily to lower investment than previously indicated. A key metric for demand, called real final sales to private domestic purchasers, was cut to a 1.8% growth rate, down 0.6 percentage points from the first estimate.
The original expectations for the fourth quarter, spanning October through December, was 2.5% growth. This led to disappointment when a preliminary tally showed 1.4% growth.
That number was later revised down to 0.7% growth, before ultimately coming in at 0.5% growth.
In light of this new information, we now know that the economy grew at a 2.1% pace across all of 2025, down from 2.8% in 2024 and 2.9% in 2023. Excluding the pandemic, 2025 showed the weakest economic growth in the United States in nine years.
In other words, despite endless Republican hype, economic growth and job growth were significantly stronger during Joe Biden’s final year in office compared with the first year of Donald Trump’s second term.
The White House has not yet offered a persuasive explanation as to why the economy got worse after the Republican returned to the Oval Office.
On the contrary, during one of JD Vance’s recent Fox News appearances, the vice president celebrated the “Trump boom” in the economy. A week earlier, Peter Navarro, a leading White House voice on trade and economic policy, told Fox News that the U.S. economy was “perfect.” The president himself has argued — before, during and after the fourth quarter — that he’s responsible for creating the strongest economy in American history.
If leading White House officials were trying to appear out of touch, would they have said anything different?
Since economic growth and job growth were significantly stronger under Biden, what is the basis for that lie Trump likes to tell: that he inherited “a mess”? What is the basis for the lie that Trump “created the strongest economy in American history”? All of this is, of course, before Trump started a war that is costing us billions every single day and which has caused the price of petrol to skyrocket over $4 a gallon. There are already fuel surcharges added by the post office, from Amazon and other companies, and the cost of diesel fuel for farmers will cause the cost of groceries to go even higher. Winning? I don’t think so. Just more lies.
Inflation is up, too. From “Fox Business”, dateline April 10, 2026:
“Inflation surged in March as consumer prices jumped amid the economic disruptions caused by the Iran war’s impact on the energy market.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday said that the consumer price index (CPI) – a broad measure of how much everyday goods like gasoline, groceries and rent cost – rose 0.9% from a month ago and is 3.3% higher than last year. The annual figure jumped from last month’s 2.4% reading, while the monthly increase also rose markedly from last month’s 0.3% reading.”
The full impact of Trump’s war on Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is not reflected yet–fasten your seatbelts–it’s going to get much worse before it gets better. What was that about Trump “inheriting a mess” and allegedly creating”the strongest economy in American history”?
Oh, and one other thing, in an interview that aired last night, John Kerry confirmed that Netanyahu tried to get Bush, Clinton and Biden to start a war with Iran, using the same argument about the nonexistent ballistic missiles and the nuclear threat–and none of them bought it.
Another indoctrinated stupid middle-class white chick. The dems ruined blacks, and now average white chicks. Pathetic. Let’s see her meds list.
These days, Democrats eschew Democracy at every turn. If you disagree with their policies, you must be debanked, erased, destroyed.
The primary contradiction in Jonathan Turley’s critique of the USC gym policy is his selective definition of “segregation.” While he attacks a university for creating sex-segregated workout spaces to protect students, he has been a vocal defender of a federal administration that is currently using the full weight of the Department of Justice to mandate its own brand of sex-based segregation in public life. Oh the irony!
He argues that excluding men from certain gym areas at USC is “discriminatory on the basis of gender”.
He claims “separating the sexes” at a college gym is a regressive tool of the “identity group agenda,” yet he calls the administration’s policy to separate the sexes in bathrooms “restoring merit and efficiency”
He has praised the administration’s March 2026 “Addressing DEI” Executive Order which strictly defines sex as binary and biological to protect female spaces. If Turley supports the Trump DOJ’s legal argument that women have a right to “protected, sex-specific spaces,” he cannot logically argue that a university providing that very thing for its female students is a “balkanization” of higher education.
I thought Republicans were all about protecting women in locker rooms. So if they want a protected space within certain hours why should that be an issue?
Hey, retard, wrong article.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
JT “cannot logically argue that . . .”
Yet again, you trot out one of your favorite fallacies: ad hominem. That JT is allegedly inconsistent is not a counter-argument.
Care to try again?
If you can’t beat them on policy, illegally lock them up. The Democratic politicians motto.

Breaking news: the Pakistani mediator who brokered the ceasefire deal confirms that no bombing of Lebanon by Israel or the United States WAS part of the deal. So, Israel has already violated the agreement, killing over a hundred Lebanese citizens. Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz, which is closed again and Trump and his administration are lying again. Trump tweeted that he thinks the US will share in the tolls Iran has proposed changing to cross the Strait of Hormuz. We are far worse off than we were before Trump started this war.
So much for Trump and his victory lap. And Trump is once again threatening to take Greenland.
Awww you poor baby TDS sufferer and America-hater. Go ahead and sniff more glue, you’ll feel better.
We’ll chip in and buy you a ticket to the middle east.
Col Macgregor has pretty much summed it up. America will soon be out of the Middle East for good.
We are far better off now, in this instant, than we ever were under anyone but Trump over the past 40 years.
I’m sorry you buy into the CCP/establishment media BS, but when you find yourself in agreement with a bunch of perforated, mental-cases you may be on the wrong scent.
The 250th Birthday of America.
250 years of the Supreme Court taking rights and freedoms away from Americans.
NATOISTAN!
McConnell agrees with Bellows that J6 was a violent insurrection. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/mcconnell-calls-jan-6-violent-insurrection-breaking-rnc-rcna15404
And Joey agrees with Mary that Biden stole $500 million from Bank of America while wearing a Joe Biden mask to throw off the authorities. Who the f–k cares? The J6 “insurrection” is such a transparent canard, and the rest of us have moved on from that tired old line. Live not by lies, Concerned Citizen. Think for yourself. Don’t mindlessly say “so and so agrees with so and so that the moon is made of cheese. And Megyn Kelly is having a meltdown over Trump’s tweet, so it must have been bad, mommy, right?” Sheesh! What do they teach in these schools? (-Professor from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe)
McConnell has always been a RINO. You didn’t know? Oh, you knew. C’mon, man! I’ll bet you’re concerned alright, concerned with other people’s money. Am I right, Karl?
OLD NEWS concerned citizen!! Keep up to date. “”Feb. 8, 2022, 12:24 PM PST / Updated Feb. 9, 2022, 8:46 AM PST” BOZO!
Here is a more recent article about McConnell’s J6 views. https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5122585-trump-mcconnell-january-6-pardons/
Who cares? Many already served time in prison.

*******
Google A I Summary:
The Willard InterContinental Hotel, located at 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., served as a “command center” or “war room” for allies of President Trump, including Rudy Giuliani and Steve Bannon, in the days leading up to and on January 6, 2021. The team met there to coordinate efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
…………………………………………
QUESTION: If January 6th was just a ‘spontaneous’ riot, why did Trump allies need a ‘command center’??
Obviously everything that occurred that day had been planned to some extent.

Free and Fair?
Trump will probably get her elected just like he’s getting Democrats elected to various offices in other states.
To be fair, it is virtually impossible at this point for a Republican to win a statewide race in any New England state. But Trump does have that effect, at least while he’s in office. Think of poor Pierre Poilievre. And the poor stupid voters of Canada who voted for their own destruction just because muh! Trump.
If the voters elect her, that’s their problem. They will receive no sympathy from the rest of us. You get the government you deserve.
The America of the American Founders was not intended to suffer, and does not deserve, the government that perpetrates the entire communist American welfare state, including, but not limited to, admissions affirmative action, grade-inflation affirmative action, employment affirmative action, quotas, welfare, food stamps, minimum wage, rent control, social services, forced busing, public housing, utility subsidies, CRT, DEI, WIC, SNAP, TANF, HAMP, HARP, TARP, PBS, NPR, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency, Agriculture, Education, Labor, Energy, Obamacare, Social Security, Social Security Disability, Social Security Supplemental Income, Medicare, Medicaid, “Fair Housing” laws, “Non-Discrimination” laws, etc.

The men who got America to the moon knew all about rocketry, flying, critical systems, and math and were self-reliant while all alone in the middle of nowhere and utterly adroit at crisis management.

It is a “fake” Kumbaya indoctrination campaign and an inordinately expensive joke!
HA – there it is. There’s the stereotypical Turley reader 😉
Prove he’s stereotypical. You can’t. You just make sh*t up.
Then denounce the racist stuff that he’s saying.
I have no obligation to denounce anything anyone says, whether I agree with it or not. Nobody died and made me the officieal denouncer-in-chief. You’re the one who made the “stereotypical” assertion, and I’m saying prove it. It is belied by the general run of comments on here by conservatives.

You could not be more wrong.
IMHO, those astronauts are there by their own merit, their excellence, and are a result of meritocracy at it’s finest.
Well, maybe not the Canadian . . . that was a joke.
I truly admire the one astronaut answer when some leftists MSM tried to corner him into a DEI answer and he responded that this was about humanity and not DEI. Good for him.
Astronaut Koch, she has got some guns!!! Good on her!
I was glad of his answer to the DEI question too. The media goes out of its way, over and over, to prove it is staffed by literally the stupidest people in society. In law school I had a professor who used to refer to “moronic media talk.” That sums it up nicely.
Can you describe the benefits of this expenditure of $4.2 billion, other than a really fun space cruise?
No, I can’t. Can you?
What I can say is that the four astronauts are top-notch humans, from what I’ve seen. And I don’t give a sh*t about their race or gender, which have absolutely nothing to do with anything, IMO.
The men who went to the moon—the Apollo astronauts—were true pioneers and explorers. As highly trained test pilots, engineers, and specialists, they weren’t afraid of any contingency, and they carried a Pickett N600-ES 5-inch metal slide rule as a reliable backup for navigation and routine calculations during their missions.
Thank you for calling and sharing.
Thank you for supporting antithetical, anti-American, and unconstitutional affirmative action, DEI, social hand-holding, quotas, bias, and favor, comrade. I’ll tell Karl you’re doing a bang-up job.
I don’t support it, I despise it. What in the ever living f—k are you even talking about? Are you stupid?
This is what I’m talking about. Did you miss it above?

Ok, I am not supposed to divulge this classified information but hey what the heck. This was a mission to survey and gain intelligence on the alien space station located on the dark side of the moon. We are now in full regular contact with the aliens and they are looking at finally revealing themselves to our earthly population. Trump has made a deal with them and they have agreed to build and finance a major Casino Hotel resort development on the moon. It’s to be named Trump’s Moon.
I got nothin’ to do but roll around heaven all day!

By your own admission in your brilliant and unassailable reply, this mission is social, not spatial; you mention zero technical accomplishments related to capacity, acumen, or flight.

Unless this is Team Sports and nothing else, Turley is omitting the greater context.
Over several decades, Republicans routinely advocate blatantly unconstitutional policies that they know will get struck down in the courts. It’s good politics for their political base, but Republicans know it’s illegal under our U.S. Constitution (displaying the 10 Commandments in public schools favoring a single religious point of view, flag burning, bypassing Congress’ Article 1 authority or ignoring courts Article 3 authority).
Republicans called for “locking up” Bill & Hillary Clinton, political opponents and even members of Congress for restating existing federal law for armed military authority about following unlawful orders. Reporters then found out both Pam Bondi and Pete Hedgeseth said the same thing years earlier – unlawful orders should not be followed.
This week President Trump did what no other president has done in over 200 years, advocating to eliminate an entire civilization in violation of Section 51 of the Geneva Conventions. George W. Bush laid the foundation by violating the Geneva Conventions and the U.S. Constitution with torture, cruel treatment and began 25 years of blacklisting torture (still happening in 2026).
Republicans abuse this far more than most Democrats. Where is the proportion Turley? Why did you leave this out of the story?
This story is Team Sports, not fair & balanced reporting!
Man – those MAGA-centric books aren’t going to sell themselves! Turley has to give the crowd what they came for! Red-MAGA-meat! It really is the most obvious sign that Turley has no respect for his readers – because he doesn’t think highly enough of them to tell them the full objective truth.
What’s Blue-Commie-meat? Other people’s property, “free money,” and “free status”?
How is “calling for” someone to be locked up a governmental action that exceeds constitutional limitations? That’s 1A protected speech, and Trump proved in his first term that he was using campaign rhetoric with no intent to actually lock Hillary up. Bellows, on the other hand, actually tried to have Trump removed from the ballot, and Colorado actually removed him from the ballot until Scotus unanimously rebuked it. Big difference, which is obvious to anyone with a functioing brain.
And as for the tweet about “civilization”: people like you are dishonest to pretend that’s some sort of actual thing. Obviously he’s trolling, and he’s not going to destroy Persian civilization (as if he could); he was talking about the “civilization” of the criminals who currently are in control of Iran. His actions against those criminals are widely supported by the Iranian people, who cheer when they see bombs fall on IRGC facilities. You can swoon and call for smelling salts, but you are transparently engaged in faux outrage.
OldManFromKS,
Well said and thank you for pointing out the whole “civilization” thing. It appears critical thinking is no longer a common trait among the leftists.
And consistency never was. They claim everything Trump says is a lie, but then when he says something they want to pounce on – no matter how obviously exaggerated or or a trolling nature – suddenly they pretend it’s the gospel truth. Dishonesty is the only thing they’re consistent at.
Megyn Kelly has a different take on the civilization comment. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5821721-megyn-kelly-trump-social-media/
It’s apparently that time of the month for Megyn. Then again, she often has her panties in a twist if Trump does so much as eat a ham sandwich these days.
If Trump tweeted that he was going to travel to Proxima Centauri and bring back a ray gun to zap all senior citizens living in Fiji whose last name ends in the letter B, Trump-haters would wail about how evil Trump is for doing that zapping. That’s how idiotic this whole hyperventilating reaction to the Iran tweet is.
The people placed around bridges and power plants were all women or were they people from prisons?
Trump “was talking about the ‘civilization’ of the criminals who currently are in control of Iran.”
Precisely.
Further, that civilization was destroyed in 1979, when the dictatorial Mullahs seized control of Iran and systematically enslaved Iranian citizens.
This post is another Example of the continuing Democrat Party propaganda perfidy.
Yet, they think of themselves as avatars of democracy. What a mess of a mind they wake up to and carry all day long. No wonder they’re miserable and can’t have deep, meaningful relationships and keep the psychiatric industry afloat.
