Pelosi’s Monster: The Creation and Destruction of Eric Swalwell

Below is my column in the New York Post and the California Post on the Swalwell scandal. Last night, Fox40 just released a statement from “senior staff” in his offices that is crushing. According to the host of “Inside California Politics,” the Swalwell staffers declared that “Any decision of staff members to remain in their roles in the interim should not be viewed as support for Eric Swalwell…We, more than he, understand that we have obligations to the people we lead and to the constituents of California’s 14th Congressional District.”

Here is the column:

In Mary Shelley’s famous work, Dr. Frankenstein is asked, “Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust?”

This week, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D. Calif.), the leading Democratic candidate for California governor, may wish he could ask that of former Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.). After sexual assault allegations were raised by former staff members, Pelosi, Sen. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.), and even his close friend (and former campaign chair) Sen. Ruben Gallego (D., Ariz.) have withdrawn their endorsements.

The fact, however, is that (regardless of the merits of these latest allegations), Swalwell was always a notorious figure in Washington who was constructed by Pelosi and others to serve their interests.

As Pelosi and his other allies now seek to destroy him, they cannot escape their hand in his creation.

Multiple women came forward this week to allege sexual assault and other potentially criminal acts by Swalwell. The first allegations came from a former staffer who said that she was raped twice by Swalwell, who had sex with her when she was too drunk to consent. Swalwell is denying the allegations.

Four women spoke to the Chronicle; one former staffer alleged that she tried to fight off Swalwell who left her bruised and bleeding after a rape. Even CNN, which eagerly featured Swalwell on programs as he attacked the Trump Administration, ran detailed accounts of another alleged assault in a hotel room. One of these accounts is from February of this year.

The accounts, if true, suggest that Swalwell is not just a sexual harasser but a sexual predator operating in plain view. One woman, Ally Sammarco, alleged that she (like other women) received nude photos of Swalwell as well as inappropriate social media messages.

Swalwell’s scandal is about as surprising in Washington as the return of the cicadas.

Swalwell was infamously accused of having an affair with an alleged Chinese spy named Fang Fang. His patron in Congress, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, immediately moved to protect him, declaring, “I don’t have any concern about Mr. Swalwell.”

Pelosi even blocked efforts to remove him from the House Intelligence Committee despite obvious concerns that he was susceptible to blackmail over his sexual trysts.  She lashed out at those calling for his removal in the interests of national security, declaring “I do think that it is unfortunate that Mr. McCarthy is trying to make an issue of this.”

After sexual assault allegations were raised by former staff members, Pelosi, Sen. Adam Schiff and even his close friend (and former campaign chair) Sen. Ruben Gallego have withdrawn their endorsements.

What these women are describing is a politician who felt that he had a license to prey on female staffers. I wonder who gave him that impression?

For years, the Democratic establishment and the media ignored any rumors surrounding Swalwell because he was their useful monster, someone who was an attack dog always straining at the leash.

Swalwell was always the first to a mob. Indeed, he now hopes that voters will not apply the same standard he applied to figures like Justice Brett Kavanaugh. In his confirmation hearing, Kavanaugh faced an allegation of attempted rape from high school, and Swalwell had little patience for those of us arguing for a modicum of due process.

Swalwell said that Kavanaugh’s guilt was self-evident: “More and more cases that are separate and independent, that look the same, pretty soon a prosecutor starts to say to a jury … that the arrows are pointing in the same direction.”

On the Epstein matter, Swalwell demanded full disclosure and called legal concerns “bulls****” in a screaming match with FBI Director Kash Patel.

Recently, Swalwell took a different view on the release of his own FBI files from the Chinese spy scandal. In a cease and desist letter to prevent public disclosure, attorneys Norm Eisen and Sean Hecker warned Patel, “Your actions threaten to expose you, others at the FBI, and the FBI itself to significant legal liability.”

It is now a pile-on as Swalwell’s former enablers run for cover: even Gallego, who posed with Swalwell bare-chested on camels in Qatar. Notably, no one seemed concerned that the trade group US-Qatar Business Council spent more than $84,000 to fly Swalwell, Gallego, and their loved ones to Qatar for the luxurious trip.

The most obvious beneficiary of the scandal, Katie Porter, has denied any involvement with the woman who organized the disclosures against Swalwell. The irony is that Swalwell’s scandal will remove a candidate who has allegedly physically assaulted staffers in favor of a candidate who has verbally assaulted staffers.

The implosion of Eric Swalwell is raising questions about how so many close associates and friends could not have known about the rumors of his misconduct. Now, suddenly, Swalwell has no friends or allies after years of being praised by Pelosi and many in the media.

Mary Shelley made the point most vividly in Frankenstein that there is little difference between the creators and the monsters in such moments: “It is true, we shall be monsters, cut off from all the world; but on that account we shall be more attached to one another.”

  1. Swallwell as was Frankenstein are the creations of lesser gods. This is true.

    Mary Shelley was remarkable.

  2. Funny how Swalwell is too sleazy to run for Gov of CA, but not too sleazy to serve in the House.

    1. Well, releasing a proverbial “Frankenstein’s Monster” loose in congress is kinda brand for the dems.

  3. THE ONLY COMMENT I make is that Swallwell was a DEMOCRAT representative, NOT a DEMOCRATIC representative. There is a big difference. The so-called friends and allies are already held in low esteem by many Americans, especially Schiff and Pelosi.

  4. I think the real reason this is coming out now is that the Democrats are in panic mode over the California governorship race. They put in this rule meant to solidify the one party state. It means that the top top primary vote-getters are on the general election ballot. This meant that often two Dems and no Republicans were on ballots. But in a one party state there are a lot of Dems in office, and a narrow funnel at the prized office of Governor, which is viewed as a steppingstone to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. So there are 8 Dems running this year, and only two Republicans (because there aren’t enough Republicans who seem “qualified” with so many offices filled with Democrats. These 8 Dems are splitting the Dem primary support, and the Dems are afraid that the two Rep candidates, even splitting a smaller voter pool, are going to be the only ones on the ballot in the November. So the Dems need to cut out some candidates, and this is the beginning. Don’t be there won’t be more.

    1. @Anonymous

Makes sense to me. Modern dems will throw anyone under the bus to hold onto power. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    2. Of course, you are correct. All part of the democrat machine, well timed too.
I’m hoping he stays in and screws them back for this.

  5. There isn’t enough crystal meth in all of California to feed the paid DNC troll to fend off the accusations against Eric Swalwell. it is fun though watching him spin

  6. As usual, the dems are actively engaged in what they accuse others of. The Kavanaugh debacle was absolutely shameful. Karma hurts, I guess.

      1. Dad, please don’t start this basement computer activism up again today. You promised you would start to look for a job.

  7. Like Melanie, Swalwell has never been indicted by a Grand Jury, never allowed to confront their accusers, never had a trial or official guilty verdict.

Unlike 34 time convicted felon Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein that did receive proper constitutional due process.

Allegations don’t look good, but there needs to be legal constitutional due process before declaring someone guilty.

    1. Trump was “convicted” per a Soviet style lawfare campaign based on invented crimes that didn’t exist used to target a political opponent. Soviet minded totalitarian communists such as yourself continue to cite that as if it was valid. Real Americans see through the charade.

    2. Trump was convicted only one time, not 34 times, essentially for repaying his attorney on an installment plan, for making a constructive contribution on his behalf.
Each month,, Trump committed THREE felonies: Cohen’s invoice, the TO’s repayment check, and the ledger entry.
The irony is that Hillary Clinton committed the same felonies as Trump, every time she filsd a spending report with the FEC, in which payments for the Steele Dossier were falsely labeled for “Legal Services” just as Trump’s repayments to Cohen had been.
Even though the FEC eventually fined Hillary for her drception, the state of New York did not prosecute.

    3. But then this thing would be of no use as a lever of power to the immoral democrat political machine. Yet another “screw the constitution” from the dems.

  8. Wait, now he’s also being accused of using campaign cash to pay his live-in nanny.

If these scandals end his campaign, will the front runner be Katie Porter 😳😢 ??

The poor people of California can’t seem to catch a break.

    1. Dems ‘turning up the heat’ to get him out, they know they will lose.
They have hung onto this playing card for some time too! I hope Swalwell pulls the Uno reverse on ’em and go down in flames with them.

  9. The ‘Political Shooting Gallery’
    – HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT –

A hostile work environment is a workplace where discriminatory harassment based on protected characteristics (race, gender, religion, age, etc.) is so severe or pervasive that it alters employment conditions and disrupts performance. It requires evidence of a pattern of behavior or a single, highly severe incident, which the employer failed to correct.

    Key Legal Requirements & Types:
Protected Characteristic Required: The harassment must be based on a legally protected trait (e.g., race, sex, age, disability, religion).
Severe or Pervasive: Minor annoyances or isolated incidents (unless severe) are not enough; it must be pervasive.
Reasonable Person Standard: The behavior must be intimidating or offensive to a reasonable person.
Types: Examples include, but are not limited to, sexual harassment, racial slurs, persistent mockery, and threatening conduct.

Effects of a Hostile Work Environment:
Mental/Emotional Health: Intense stress, fear, humiliation, and anxiety.
Work Performance: Decreased productivity, fear of attending work, and potential wrongful termination.

    Preventing a Hostile Work Environment:
Robust Policies: Implement clear anti-harassment policies and provide regular training.
Safe Reporting Channels: Provide employees with confidential, multi-channel ways to report, such as a,
Prompt Action: Employers must promptly investigate complaints and take corrective action to prevent retaliation.

    Employee Rights:
Right to File a Claim: Employees can report to internal HR or file a charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or state agencies.
Protection from Retaliation: Employers are prohibited from retaliating against employees who report or witness harassment.
Documentation: Employees should document all incidents (dates, witnesses, behavior) to support a claim.

It’s about the Victims – Stupid
    – Nancy Pelosi should know that! –

  10. Per the Bee, Swalwell claims he did not assault any of the Chinese spies he slept with and gave classified information to.

  11. The initial reporting of text messages, pictures, and the testimony is pretty damning. But lets see how it all plays out, the evidence and witness’s testimony in a court of law.

    1. As you wrote: texts, pictures and testimony (or just lies under oath, no proof) all allegations, unproven, yet you put credence in “the initial reporting”, yet you’ve not seen any of those “damning” items? Just read the internet and let your hate of liberals draw the conclusion. That about right?

        1. You make a point, on this blog, daily, hourly of your hate of liberals, and yet here, you deny that fact has no basis in your opinion of Swalwell, or liberals. Interesting.

          1. Anonymous do you have dis lex e a? Is your brain so full it can’t reason fact and must invent truth. Your two posts are a great example of confusion and fiction.

      1. Question for you, Dad: What do Pelosi, Schiff and Ruben Gallego see that you don’t?
Please come up out of the basement, Dad! You are going to lose this one.

    2. Those pictures must have been particularly tiny considering Eric’s small appendage

FBI Director Patel: “I’m going to borrow your terminology and call bullsh*t on your entire career in Congress. It has been a disgrace to the American people.”

    3. It has already played out. it was timed to ‘adjust’ the governor’s race. Mission accomplished!

  12. It is self-evident: current Democrats are *all* fornicating (in any sense that you choose to interpret that word) monsters…

  13. Eric Swalwel deserves his day in court just like anyone else. I have no love for this gentleman or his particular views and would never vote for him. However he deserves the same rights to have the charges brought against him and then a trial if the evidence supports it. Accusation does not mean conviction. Many times charges like these disappear over time so I think we should restrain ourselves.
In the sporting world I note that charges like this have a tendency to appear right after a high draft choice gets a very large contract. Strange timing is it not. Just like Politicians seem to have these kind of things crawl out of the woodwork the closer one gets to power.
Politics-well god only knows what happens behind closed doors and between bedsheets.
This could be just sound and fury with little substance.
There are bigger fish to fry.

    1. Poor Cesar Chavez will never get due process now. Three accusers were enough to get him cancelled wwithin a week, as his state holiday was renamed, and the carved letters in the.Plaza de Cesar Chavez grouted over, all within a week.

      1. Still a statue of Chavez in Providence. they need to take down ‘one of their own’ so i bet it will be done quietly.
I say keep it up and let it become a monument to lefty abuse of power.

  14. He’s been a scoundrel for a long time. Why now? He probably got drunk and threatened the wrong people with what he’ll do when he becomes governor; or he hit on some funders’ daughter. It’s probably just that simple. He violated one of Machiavelli’s rules. “Everyone sees what you appear to be, few experience what you really are.”. I think he let the wrong people “experience” who he really is. Alcohol will do that.

  15. Not yet diagnosed as negative for stupid. If there were a vaccine to prevention, he would refuse it.

  16. Democrats only get this treatment when there is another Democrat in place to take over.

-When Al Franken had his issue there was a Dem governor sitting ready to name another Dem to take his place.

-When VA’s Northam was in hot water his days were numbered UNTIL his Lt Gov, also a Dem was in trouble and the AG, also a Dem, was in trouble and next in line was a REPUBLICAN and at that point Northam’s little problem went away.

-When Andrew Cuomo got in a pickle there was another Dem ready to takeover if he got bounced.

-Note that Swalwell’s departure from the CA gov race doesn’t harm the party, it actually culls the herd and helps the party.

Democrats always survive their scandal if their being removed would hurt the party and/or help Republicans. Watch as Swalwell gets to remain in Congress even as every Democrat says he is unfit to be governor. Also watch as the media does NOT hound Jeffries et al about him staying in office as they would hound a Republican leader if the shoe was on the other foot.

    1. Have you stopped to consider that you may be wrong? The accusations have not been proven, just spewed. So only accusations, no proof, so a congressman should loose a seat over accusations? You strike me as a low brow voter who reads the yellow press. Just the way MAGA likes it.

      1. Gee, what was your opinion of Kavanaugh’s nomination when ONE woman came forward to say he did something 30 or so years before at an unknown date, at an unknown house, with an unknown witness (her friend that denied she was even there) and right as he was to be appointed a Justice on the Supreme Court?

It is by Swalwell’s own rules that you believe the women, note I said women, i.e. more than one, that you must face the music NOW and that you are guilty.

Sorry Jimmy, but your being a partisan hack makes you look less than bright.

        1. Curious how you made the leap from Swalwell to Kavanaugh, all one sees in your comment is unsupported gossip, aka delusion. Hack? So what are you then?

          1. What do Pelosi, Schiff and Ruben Gallego see that you don’t see, Dad?
Please come up from the basement and show some interest in your family!

            1. The evidence is in plain sight. The Swalwell children find it flattering that so many women offer their dad sex on demand. They are top dogs in their schoolyard. It’s in their DNA.

          2. I see the connectiion because Little Eric demanded that Kavanaugh NOT get voted onto the Court. Genius.

            1. Just because Swalwell’s guilty doesn’t make Kavanaugh innocent. He testified he likes beer and no doubt was a randy kid who copped a feel. It was in Mark Judge’s memoir and could’ve happened on either of two dates on Kavanaugh’s calendar. What a sanctimonious prick and what a disappointment he has been: Roberts, Jr. Trump did well with his other SCOTUS picks–if only he had kicked Kavanaugh to the curb when he had the chance!

          3. It’s instructive to read what Swalwell said about Kavanaugh at the time of his confirmation. I see no problem with judging Swalwell by his own yardstick.

          4. Do you understand the difference between gossip and accusations by multiple victims? You should be aware that those accusers are women who worked with him or for him and certainly not conservatives. Gas emitter has always been eager to destroy others with unfounded accusations and rumors so why should he be given a pass? Let him prove he is not guilty if he is innocent?

      2. Sir James, I won’t insult your intelligence by suggesting you believe what you wrote.
I’m sure you simply forgot the numerous accusations Feng Feng man made about president Trump and those he supports.

        1. No insult taken, but you might consider your response in light of the fact that you used the word : accusation.

          1. He got a direct hit on you with that comment, Dad! Nice work, uncle!
Please come up from the basement, Dad!

    2. Yes, there is a huge difference between being one of 435 Congressmen, and Governor of the world’s fourth largest economy.

    3. The Dems required Franken to “take one for the team,” in an attempt to shame Trump into quitting.

  17. Too many comments to write but when Nancy pelosi says”I don’t have any concerns about Mr Swalwell”…. That statement alone would be reason enough to have concerns about Mr Swalwell.
And then it sounds like Swalwell’s staffers are doing his job.
Pelosi, Schiff, Swalwell, Porter, Newsome, and the rest are just evil minions doing the devil’s work. Pursuing their own agendas without any concern about their constituents that they should be representing.

  18. Swalwell is not the only politician who got into bed with the Chinese government, but, as far as we know, he was the only one to do so literally.

    1. And were you in that bed too? I mean you state it as absolute proof. Ménage à trois MAGA style?

  19. Swalwell is a malignancy intent on killing the Republic. In addition to being a metastasizing tumor nurtured by the Wretch of San Crapcisco, he is the natural product of the Guy from Honolulu’s scheme to fundamentally transform the United States. Stated otherwise: Democrat politicians are evil.

    1. Faced with multiple accusers, John Conyers resigned from Congress 9 years ago. No trial, no due process.
He might still be a Congressman today if he hadn’t died.

      1. Swalwell can take a leaf from Nancy’s book and style himself as Rep. emeritus or is that erectus.
