Hunter Biden is once again reinventing himself with the help of an ever-enabling media and the Democratic establishment. The media is full of reports that people are rediscovering Hunter and finding him strikingly honest and refreshing. In his pitch, he assures viewers that now “it’s just me” and not some team of advisers. The problem is that, for some of us who have been critics of the Bidens for decades, there is nothing new about the new Hunter other than a podcast audience.
For the record, I have been a critic of the Biden family for decades as one of the most corrupt political families in U.S. history. Joe Biden and his family have been influence peddlers and self-dealers since his time in the Senate — enriching themselves with positions and shady dealings.
Hunter Biden was the ultimate personification of that corruption — both financial and moral. He spent his life attacking those who tried to investigate his dealings, including filing ruinous lawsuits against individuals who would not yield.
At the same time, he spent lavishly with money that he acquired by leveraging the access and influence of his father. Some of this conduct continued during periods of sobriety as well as addiction. That includes his disgraceful record with regard to his daughter Navy Joan, whom he fought not to recognize or support.
Hunter has repeatedly sought to reinvent himself with the help of an army of advisers. His current pitch is that everything that he did for literally decades was because he was an addict and that he is now proud and unafraid.
The problem is that the facts do not fit the pitch. Hunter was cashing in on the family business from the moment that he emerged from law school. He was entitled and eager to use his father to enrich himself.
For a party that often seems on a recurring loop of mantras condemning white privilege and entitlements, Hunter Biden would seem the last person that the left would embrace. However, the use of his identity as a recovering addict is drawing crowds and accolades. He presents himself as a virtual sage as a result of the struggle.
I have previously expressed sympathy for Hunter’s recovery and credited him for writing about it. However, his honesty about addiction is notably missing in his account of his influence peddling and corruption. He prefers to focus on how he spent the money and not how he got it.
We’re missing accounts of his strong-arming of foreign figures, such as BHR Partners CEO Jonathan Li. In the summer of 2019, Li wired $250,000 to Hunter Biden from Beijing, with Joe Biden’s Delaware home listed as the beneficiary address.
There were diamonds as gifts, lavish expense accounts, and a sports car, in addition to massive payments that Hunter claimed were “loans.” There are messages like the one to a Chinese businessman , openly threatening Joe Biden’s displeasure if money is not sent to them immediately. In the WhatsApp message, Hunter stated:
“I am sitting here with my father, and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the Chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”
Hunter puts all of these dealings and his attacks on critics into a deep memory hole while thrilling liberal audiences as the liberated voice of reason.
Hunter continues to twist history to fit his needs. In an interview with Gov. Gavin Newsom, Biden explained how his infamous pardon was simply proof of “how much you know my dad loves me.” He said that his father “chose me over his legacy.”
That last point may be the only unassailable point from his interviews. However, Hunter notably stuck to the same carefully crafted narrative put out by his family in interviews on the pardon — insisting that it was made necessary by Trump’s election to protect him from retaliation.
Hunter told Newsom:
“My dad said that he wouldn’t give me a pardon and he was absolutely 100% genuine about it…he said it at a moment in time where he thought that he was going to be the next president of the United States and there would be a Justice Department that would treat me fairly…It would have been like having a gun to my family’s head for the next four years at least, so that’s why he pardoned me. It’s a really incredibly rational decision and a really difficult decision.”
It is the same spin given by Jill Biden in her book and clearly was crafted by the family. She insisted (like Hunter) that Joe meant it when he repeatedly insisted that he would not pardon his son under any circumstances. He ran for reelection on the promise. “Then the Justice Department changed. And I think that the process was not fair to Hunter. When Trump was elected, we knew that he would target Hunter.”
Just one problem: It was her husband’s Justice Department, and two different panels of jurors, who convicted Hunter. Indeed, even juries in the Bidens’ home state of Delaware and the heavily Democratic state of California declared him guilty.
The only pending matter was his sentencing before the same judges that President Biden assured us would be allowed to resolve the cases. Indeed, even after those convictions, the Biden administration declared that the president would not break his promise and pardon his son.
What’s particularly galling is that Hunter Biden was allowed to escape charges for other federal crimes, including his alleged influence peddling that produced millions from foreign interests.
President Biden notably pardoned his son for any crimes that he may have committed from “Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 1, 2024.”
If the family was so afraid of retaliation by Trump, why didn’t Joe Biden pardon his son for all crimes except those for which he was convicted during his administration?
That would still have been an abuse of power, but it would at least have maintained the president’s promise to allow the prior cases to proceed without interference.
Yet, Hunter picked up the spin where Jill left off: “If it was in a Mitt Romney administration, if it was in a John McCain administration, if it was in anybody that was an actual Republican and not a tyrant or a fascist, my dad would not have pardoned me.”
Once again, all that was pending from the very same judges was the sentencing for his convictions. Hunter was already protected from even more serious charges over his being an alleged unregistered foreign agent.
With history rewritten, Hunter proceeded to hold forth on his view of American politics, assuring the public that they could support Graham Platner. Speaking with authority, Hunter declared that “I have not heard anything in any way that would say to me that he is an abusive, misogynistic, anti-Semitic, or racist person.” He declared, “I’m 99.9% certain Graham Platner is no Nazi.”
So apparently the matter is settled by the new sage of the left.
Count me out on the Hunter Biden love fest tour. Some of us have followed too many of the prior incarnations of Hunter Biden to think that this latest variation is anything more than the latest creation of the Biden image lab.
His new videos are polished and poignant as he proclaims, “it’s just me.” But that is precisely the problem.
You boys forgot. Hunter did nothing wrong. The Vast Right Wing conspirators accused him of being a naughty boy, but they proved nothing. Even that silly little computer he owned and used. Heck, we got 50 highly respected, dedicated, trusted, honorable, left wing politicians who proved in 00.000000001 seconds it was another one of those Russian hoax jobs. O those bad Russians! Just ask Big D. (lol)

Everyone understood that Hunter was a no good, loser son. But compared to all the scandals surrounding Donald Trump, Hunter seemed rather bush league. Hunter wasn’t that rich. Nor did he hold any position at his father’s White House.
I’ve always thought that Jill Biden was the capo of the Biden Crime Family; long before dementia set it, Joe always came across as a bit too clueless, often seeming blissfully aware of the repercussions of what he was doing or saying.
I find it strange that a presidential pardon can apply to unspecified crimes that may have occurred. It seems like a presidential pardon should only apply after a conviction; after all, that pretty much the definition of “pardon”, isn’t it?
The fruit does not fall that far from the tree. Joe Biden has repeatedly made it clear–on purpose and via “hot mics”–that the Biden family is his number one priority. His “career” is a testament to that fact. The left has absolutely no heroes worthy of being emulated any longer. It is what happens when all sources of common virtue and moral/ethical standards are attacked and systematically suppressed by the political left aided by their allies in popular culture. Hunter Biden is a pod caster star and the late Pope tells Joe Biden (Champion of on demand any time abortion) that he is a good Catholic and should continue to partake of the eucharist. Immutable standards of righteousness are in short supply, and the likes of the Bidens are there to fill the gap.

A group of us went shooting this morning. It was my first time linking with my neighbors who have invited me for years to join them. They’ve told me their stories where they drive out to the country on weekends to privately owned property with woods, hills and streams, and practice their marksmanship. I never thought much of men who pal around in woods like wannabe GI Joes, and waste money on expensive ammo, ear muffs, steel hanging target plates, red dot sights, lasers and a large collection of 9 mm, revolvers and ARs. However Virginia Gov Abigail Spanberger has given us cause to fear our government. Sheriffs and state attorneys in VA have announced publicly that they will not enforce Democrats recent legislation passed in both chambers that curtail our 2A rights. They choose to let the VA Courts and Federal Courts decide if Democrats have violated our constitutional rights. So I decided for just once I would join my neighbors, and see what they were doing with their guns and accessories in the woods. Unlike them I have first hand knowledge how Communists took over Cuba and quickly took away our guns as citizens. This is the trajectory Democrats have taken in America, and anyone who thinks otherwise does not know world history or are Communists themselves. As General Douglas MacArthur stated, “I am concerned for the security of our great Nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within.”. James Madison commented “If our nation is ever taken over, it will be taken over from within”.
As we practiced individually shooting at our steel targets, careful to give each man their turn, while the rest of us monitored the man in the hot zone so as to observe his stance, grip, posture and give feedback, I kept thinking how Communists deceived Cubans in 1959 with their sweet talking promises. They lied. They disarmed us. They imprisoned us. They tortured us. They confiscated our properties, took away our livelihood, our farms, our ability to sustain ourselves, they indoctrinated children with Marxist ideology, and made themselves extremely wealthy while the rest of the citizenry succumbed to hunger, poverty and poor health outcomes. They were armed. We were their targets.
After spending some time practicing target shooting, we drove to a restaurant to share camaraderie and talk about our love for our families and concerns for our nation. We spoke at long length about the Nazi in Maine, on who Democrats cant seem to lavish enough praise. Senators Schumer, Warren, Sanders, and the usual double standards Democrats in the US House, and now apparently the dismal Bidens, care not about the Maine Democrat being a Nazi. They just want power.
Thus Democrats give us reason to gather as a citizenry to safeguard our freedoms, cherish our Bill of Rights, and practice shooting. I am now sold. There is an inherit truth that one needs to practice regularly to excel at a particular skill. I look forward to practice hitting consistently in the upcoming months the steel target orange spinning prairie dog.

The prefatory clause is the reason. When that reason no longer exists the operative clause has no basis.
The US has a standing army and no need for a militia. That army has sufficient weapons that no rebel group of 2nd Amendment lovers will stand up as long as the Branch Davidian’s did at Waco. The lie that they could is to sell guns to fools.

The implication of “no basis” is not exactly clear from what you wrote. If it means, “is not enforceable,” then you are wrong. That type of reasoning has never been accepted as a valid way of interpreting and enforcing the law.
Replace it with “In order to save horses from startling by kites, it shall be illegal to fly kites in the District of Columbia.”
When the number of horses in D.C. became vanishingly small, the law was removed.
Likewise, the need for a militia is long gone, and the amendment should be removed. It’s not as if the right is not already seriously infringed upon. By age, by limits on who can carry and where, by not allowing felons to own guns. Shall not be infringed has no exceptions, yet there are laws that ignore that requirement.

Jan 1, 1959 is many years ago, and you are not that old, yet you have first-hand knowledge. I believe that. My wife has first-hand knowledge at a very young age of living behind the Iron Curtain and being jailed at the age of 2 years and 6 months. How deranged do you have to be to harp about Hunter Biden, who never held any elected office, and to ignore the obvious criminality of Trump, his lies, the graft, the obvious mental decline, the damage to our economy, damage to our relations with our allies, built up over the course of decades and shredded in a matter of months, and the pathetic efforts to try to steal the glory and respect earned by JFK, wasting our money on vainglorious projects like the ballroom no one wants, the triumph arch no one wants, doing as he pleases with our monuments using our military and tax dollars to wage a war based on lies, using our DOJ to go after his perceived enemies, trying to rewrite history to eliminate his crimes, continuing to lie about losing in 2020 and trying to rig the midterms.
Hunter Biden, at a very tender age, was in the vehicle when his mother and sister were killed in a violent accident when their car was t boned by a truck. He suffered a head injury and since then, lost his brother Beau to brain cancer. He admits to having a substance abuse problem, and Republicans and paid MAGA pundits like Turley endlessly harp about him while ignoring Trump who is destroying our economy, undermining democracy and everything this country stands for, seeing just how much he can get away with by pushing the envelope on presidential power and using the office of the president to enrich himself and his family, rewarding his fans and punishing his perceived opponents.
Turley isn’t paid for writing about those topics.

Everything Turley posts here, with the exception of sharing how many millions of readers he has and personal information on his family, is printed elsewhere for which he is paid. Because he’s dependent on the money, he never goes too far in criticism of those who could shut him down. He might have done something a different way or used different words but he is literally no different than Fox News and the topics he devotes himself to. While his focus on Hunter Biden is unrelenting in the ways he secured hundreds of thousands of dollars. He’s silent about the riches collected by the Trump family now well into the billions. Not a word about government purchases from companies heavily invested in by the Trumps. Need a drone, Don Jr. and Eric can hook you up. What has Turley said about the churning of stocks talked up by Trump? Turley is well paid for writing about these topics. You’re naive or stupid to think otherwise.
