This morning, I discussed the upcoming Supreme Court decisions from the temporary Fox studio on the Mall, surrounded by the state pavilions. I was buoyed by the enthusiasm of the young National Guard members from Puerto Rico and Alaska. They are thrilled to be part of our 250th celebration. The only disappointment was the decision of 10 states—Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Pennsylvania—to decline to participate. Pennsylvania’s governor, Josh Shapiro, refused, but the state’s two senators stepped in to ensure their representation. It is an utter disgrace for these states and another manifestation of our age of rage.
All of these states cited transparent excuses over the cost of participating in our anniversary despite their lavish spending in other areas.
Massachusetts is a particular insult. The home of John Adams and other colonial leaders elected to sit out the celebrations. Recently, we discussed how a Massachusetts church ended the long-standing celebration of the Fourth of July to focus on the “on-going process within the congregation to better understand our own whiteness.”
John Adams once wrote his wife Abigail to predict that Independence Day would be:
“celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the Day of Deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from end of this continent to the other from this time forward forever more.”
Rather than Adams, Massachusetts now has figures such as Gov. Maura Healey, who balked at spending $100,000 to be counted among the states in the pavilion.
Gov. Shapiro did the same. This is a man who wants to be the next president of the United States but has opted out of participating, despite his state being home to our Independence Hall. It appears that he could not acquire space by simple adverse possession. Many people in Pennsylvania and across the country will not soon forget his ignoble stance or the two Pennsylvania senators’ efforts to ensure the state’s presence despite Shapiro’s efforts.
These leaders decided to spread division at the very moment when we could overcome our differences to remember what we share as fellow citizens of this country. They may see the rallying cry of “taxation without representation” replaced by “celebration without representation” for many disappointed voters.
Despite the effort of blue states to boycott the celebration, tourists and participants appear to be having a ball. It is a beautiful space and filled with wonderful people from around our country.
This morning I met Al Underwood, who was playing Paul Revere. He and his wife were delighted to participate and drove in from their home outside of Charlottesville.
As these leaders in blue states sit out the celebrations, many of their citizens are rallying to support our unique republic.

Jonathan Turley is a law professor and the New York Times best-selling author of “Rage and the Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution.“
Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Pennsylvania
States not mentioned by World Cup fans on X that they love and appreciate.
Its an embarrassment for IL but what else would you expect?
El Fatzo Pritzker is attempting to show he’s a presidential candidate.
Not only is he a failed lawyer … claiming PICA is constitutional… but also following w Obama as a divisor.
How does he plan to ever unite the country if he ever became POTUS? He can’t and won’t.
So still a failure and an Ozempic candidate.
It’s meaningless to call these vindictive Democrat party partisans “communists” or even “socialists.” They are mostly just a sort of ragtag would be mafia that mostly operates through various bureaucracies.
There are real communists in this world, mostly just in China but also Vietnam, with some other places. They are nothing like these incompetents.
The fact that the tax burden in the US is presently about 25% per capital whereas it’s about 20% in China also tells you something about this failed label. Real communists which have had the responsibility of running big countries have learned a lot of valuable practical lessons that the pink haired freaks of the DSA could not even begin to understand.

Not Much To Celebrate
This will arguably be one of the bleakest Fourth of July’s this country has had in many years.
Our president is a convicted felon who attempted a coup. Yet for reasons that defy all logic, the Supreme Court not only cleared the way for Trump’s return, they keep granting him more powers!
And it’s no secret Donald Trump plans to do everything possible to disrupt the midterm elections. Trump will never accept a Democratic takeover in either house of Congress. Trump will deny the results and claim elections were ‘rigged’.
Then there’s this ‘victory arch’ Trump wants to build in Washington. No one is really sure what ‘victory’ the arch is intended to commemorate. Surely Trump’s war on Iran is ‘not’ a decisive victory.
Trump’s war on Iran was was so poorly planned that no one seemed to anticipate Iran would close the Strait Of Hormuz. And no one seemed to anticipate Iran would overwhelm our defenses with cheap drones.
Luckily the U.S. didn’t lose too many lives. But Iran inflicted so much damage on our bases, in the Persian Gulf, that the administration refuses to put out any damage estimates.
What’s more, our allies in the gulf discovered the U.S. was incapable of protecting them from Iranian drones and missiles. That, in itself, was a huge embarrassment! And all along Donald Trump keeps announcing non-existent peace accords only to be contradicted by Iran.
This war has revealed Trump as an old windbag of a fool untethered from reality. That’s a huge blow to U.S. prestige! Yet Pete Hegseth keeps purging talented generals because they may not be loyal to Trump.
So again this victory arch would be more of a joke than anything. And people who think we’ve a got lot to celebrate this Fourth of July, are only kidding themselves. The state of this nation is bleak, to say the least.
Oh my. How sad to be you.
Democrats really just don’t like America.
The communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats, RINOs, AINOs) hate the Constitution, America, and Americans, and they revere the Communist Manifesto.
They must be eradicated with extreme prejudice before America is gone with the wind.
That is, their votes must be eradicated by severe vote restrictions imposed since the inception of democracy in Greece in 508 B.C.
we don’t hate America or the constitution. We are against those who do not hold true the the oath of office. We are against name calling, disrespecting our capital and our white house. If you love America then you have to love Americans. PODUS is turning Americans against eachother by spreading lies.
The only disappointment was the decision of 10 states—Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Pennsylvania—to decline to participate.
Perhaps the 10 states that declined is not too surprising.
Bishop Robert Barron, a philosopher and theologian trained in the mold of St Thomas Aquinas, has some thoughts on today’s political trajectory. AFAICT it is the first time he has weighed into the political world this pointedly. He is not wrong.
Bishop Robert Barron
@BishopBarron
Like many others, I have been alarmed by the success of certain politicians in our country who identify as extreme socialists or communists.
This is not a matter of classical liberals triumphing over standard-issue conservatives; this is the victory of people who stand athwart the fundamental principles that undergird our country. There are many reasons why I detest Communism, but I want to draw attention to just one issue of supreme importance.
Karl Marx said that the first critique is the critique of religion. He meant that, before a complete re-working of the politics and economics of a society can take place, religion has to be taken down.
This is because religion, as he saw it, is the “opium of the masses,” a drug taken to dull our sensitivity to the suffering caused by economic exploitation. As long as the suffering populace is lured into complacency by fantasies about God’s providence and the promise of eternal life, they will never rise up and throw off their chains.
But there is a second reason why the elimination of religion is of paramount significance for Marx.
Communism aspires to be a totalizing system, involving the government’s control over education, entertainment, communication, politics, and especially economics.
What stands resolutely athwart this ambition is religion, which declares that all of these societal expressions are finally under the judgment of God. So, if you want Communism to succeed, religion has to be stamped out.
If you doubt me on any of this, I would encourage you to read the recent histories of China, Russia, Cuba, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Venezuela. Revisit those histories and tell me I’m wrong about the attack on religion.
Might I encourage my fellow believers in God not to be complacent in the face of this very troubling development in the American body politic?

All of the state pavilions should still be there on the mall. But if a state decides not to participate, then the empty pavilion should be taped off and a prominent sign should be up saying something like “The State of ________ has chosen not to participate in the Nation’s 250th Anniversary Celebration”. See how those ten blue states like that.
Love it. Great Idea.
Terrific suggestion!
Wouldn’t that require someone to actually be in attendance to even notice it?
Waldo and Ferris Bueller will be looking for you; they will rotate between standing in front of the empty booth, directing traffic, i.e., “Move along, move along, nothing to see here” and pushing through the crowds trying to locate you. So don’t forget to carry your “anonymous” avatar on your license.
But I won’t be anonymous! I’ll be wearing my TRUMP shoes and have my TRUMP GOLD PHONE on me, upon which I’ll be trading my TRUMP CRYPTO COINS! I might even be eating some TRUMP STEAKS and I’ll make sure to have my brand new TRUMP PATRIOT PASSPORT that has his clever saying printed on it, “Welcome but be good” which still doesn’t make sense to me, but I don’t care because I will blindly go wherever TRUMP commands me to! Thank you for your attention to this matter!
There’s no need to sugar coat it.
This was a ‘dead country’ prior to Trump. There’s a difference between celebrating 250 years of American history and a dead country. .. no one wants to celebrate that.
Now, we’re the ‘hottest’ country in the world. Everyone respects us, and no one is laughing at America anymore. .. celebrate that.
To be fair, Trump is not an aberration. .. I think he fell out of Kamala’s coconut tree.
*be good.
There are many things one could say about Kamala and, well, trees of various kinds, but to be good as you request I will refrain from all such woody speculation.
America felt rather alive before Trump. No one respects American now. They are making plans to cut ties with the US.
No one is laughing anymore for the same reason that no one laughs when a drunk fires a gun at a party.
Good. Good. Don’t forget to stop in and visit with two of the empty state booths that have been re-rented to other entities seeking the benefit without the work of large ready-made crowds that they themselves could not attract:
I’m told one booth is reserved for Rosemont-Seneca Investments and a guy is holding the other booth to sell Hunter Biden paintings. There will be collection jars in front of both these booths for Biden’s excluded granddaughter “Navy” –but that’s only because Hunter got mixed up because he thought this was going to be another military parade/celebration.
Tsk. There will be no more Biden booths of fine art. In any case, Jared Kushner makes Hunter Biden look like Ralph Nader.
*there are no blue states, there are no red states .. . there is only the United States.
I don’t remember Biden’s four-year administration identifying any wrongdoing by Jared, do you?
No, dgsnowden just dosen’t like Jews.
Kushner acts in public. He has been successful for decades and other people have chosen freely to place their money with him to invest. That is perfectly legal.
No white powder involved no nested shell companies. What Kushner does is announced in press releases.
What Hunter did was kept quiet, lied about, spun every which way
Not everything that Kusher does is announced in press releases, just the part that is not corrupt.
We will all know you immediately, you’ll be the guy that will have his head up his ass.
While you are shilling sarcasm – SO WHAT ?
Free people can make whatever choices they want. They do NOT need you to limit their choices because you would prefer they made different ones.
Buy a Trump steak – or not. Buy Trump sneakers – or not.
Your choice.
No one has “commanded” you – no men with guns will force you against your will.
There’s always someone…
People are attending
Perfect
PA Gov. Shapiro decided not to participate. PA Sen. Fetterman and McCormick found corporate sponsors and PA is participating.
These people are nuts.
Nothing says American pride like corporate takeovers.
The only normal, reasonable, patriotic reaction of any sentient person to Donald J. Trump is REVULSION–Turley calls it “rage”–wrong word, that just happens to fit with the title of his book (BTW: “Regime Change” by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan is flying off book shelves–Turley’s book–not so much). Collectively, most of us feel disgust–disgust over a lying narcissist who cheated his way into office by lying about “no new wars”, promising immediate drops in the price of groceries, the tariff wars he started, the war he started, trying to take over all agencies, gutting USAID, putting his name above Kennedy’s at the JFK Center for Performing Arts, tearing down part of the White House without consent, destroying the reflecting pool, running up national debt to help Israel get more land based on a lie, and clogging the courts with lawsuits that mostly succeed in overturning his power grabs.
Americans are not feeling festive over what has happened to our country since the pig took over, packed the SCOTUS with radical right wingers and overturned Constitutional rights and norms. Trump and MAGA are the reason we don’t feel celebratory. We don’t have to come to his party, pose in front of his vainglory arch, or validate his pathetic “presidency”, and we aren’t going to. Turley chooses not to get it—we don’t have to rise above Trump and celebrate 250 years of America when Trump wouldn’t rise above his selfishness and ego and act like the president of all of us, when he has implemented Project 2025 after lying about that being his agenda, and when he has alienated all of our allies. The underattended and overpriced stupid “fair” and the sludge-coated reflecting pool are metaphors for Trump.
UNHINGED MORON ANON!!!
EGREGIOUS VIOLATION OF THE CIVILITY RULE HERE: IMPUDENT IMPERTINENCE.
BAN FOR LIFE!
I agree!! BAN ANON FOR LIFE!!!
You’re an idiot.
K, not just a moron, but totally ignorant.
Gigi-Natasha writes:”to help Israel get more land…”
The US never helped Israel gain land. This moron must think Israel covers most of the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia: 830,000 sq mi
Middle East: 2,491,370 sq mi
Israel: 8,630 sq mi
“The only normal, reasonable, patriotic reaction of any sentient person to [Gigi] is REVULSION–”
Nay, banishment!
S. Meyer: you really can’t dispute that Israel has stolen land in Gaza from the Palestinians, now, can you? They moved 800,000 Israelis onto Palestinian land in the Golan Heights, a move that the UN condemned. And, you really can’t dispute that Israel lied to Trump about Iran being poised to nuke us, can you? And, now, Israel is trying to grab part of Lebanon, too, by bombing areas it claims house Hezbolla, but that is disputed. Israel wants more land, but can’t get it without the help of the US. In fact, we supply Israel with weapons and cash–why? Biden, Obama, Clinton and Bush didn’t fall for it, but Trump did–and, that’s a fact. Israel is tiny–about the size of New Jersey, but it wants more land.
I will take your points one at a time, giving you a chance to respond.
Gazans targeted Israeli women and children long before and after Israel took control from Egypt. Two decades ago, Israel forcibly removed its own citizens and handed that land over, only to be met with continuing violence. You are blind to documented facts. Israel was actively loosening border restrictions when Gaza chose to launch its attack.
The above is true. What do you wish to add? You started with land. The Jewish people lived in the Levant for 3,000 years, took the desert and created farmlands and technology. Look at the land they occupy.
The Golan heights was Syrian – not palesitinian – are you completely clueless.
Israel offered to return Golan to Syria – just as they returned the Sinai to egypt in return for recognition of israels right to exist.
The UN condemns all kinds of things it should not, and does not condemn all kinds of things it should
The US should leave the UN and quit funding it.
Iran ADMITTED in negotiations – more than a month ago that they had enough enriched U235 to make 11 Atomic bombs.
No one Lied about Irans nuclear program.
No Israel does not want more land – Israel does not want the Golan or the parts of Lebanon it is occupying or Gaza or the West Bank.
It has made NO CLAIM on any of that land. It occupies Golan and part of lebanon – because Syria and Lebanon do not have the power to prevent terrorists from Syria and lebanon from committing acts of war against Israel.
Need you be reminded that the US drove the Taliban out of Afghanistan merely for allowing Al Queda to exist in their country.
A nation is responsible for acts of war committed against another nation from inside its borders.
Israeli president Peres offered Arafat the whole west bank, Gaza, and east Jerusalem in return for Palestinian acceptabce of Isreals right to exist.
Arafat turned that down.
“now, Israel is trying to grab part of Lebanon, too, by bombing areas it claims house Hezbolla,”
As it has done many times before – and when it has weakened Hezbolah sufficiently it leaves.
“but that is disputed. ”
ROFL – really ? Those rockets coming from southern lebanon and making northern israel uninhabitable – their figments of the Israeli immagination ?
“Israel wants more land, but can’t get it without the help of the US. ”
ROFL
In 1948 the IDF took on the entire Mideast and survived.
In 1967 the IDF took on most of the mideast and crushed Syria, Jordan, Egypt.
In 1973 arab nations attacked Israel again and were defeated.
The Sinai was returned to Egypt in return for recognition.
The govenrment of Lebanon is nearly non-existant.
Israel has had to drive terrorists out of souther lebanon on many occasions – and left only to have to return later.
Syria could have gotten the Golan back in return for recognizing Israel but has refused for 50 years.
Jordan had enough of fighting with Israel and dealing with the Palestinians after the 67 war.
The palestinians subsequently assassinated Jordans king – and Jordan wan;t nothing to do with the palestinians and would not take the west bank if Israel gave it to them – which Israel has tied to do.
The above is a tiny part of the conflict.
You are totally ignorant of history and reality.
“In fact, we supply Israel with weapons and cash–why? Biden, Obama, Clinton and Bush didn’t fall for it”
ROFL – Every US president has provided Israel with arms and cash.
“Israel is tiny–about the size of New Jersey”
Correct – but many nations are smaller – including many mideast nations.
,
Ultra-excellent!!! and well woven together, trapping Gigi perfectly. She has no place to go, but being the low-class person she is, she will repeat her claims again.
Blah, blah, blah get a new song. This one is now boring. He is not a genius, he is not perfect. He is deeply flawed. However, he saved us from a social, political international CHARLIE FOX that would have resulted from the presidency of a MORON.
I pity you – your pathetic and clearly misserable. You are allowing hatred to eat your soul.
Lots of people do not agree with everything Trump does – or Obama, or Biden or Bush – but we do not transform disagreement into hatred like you do
You even hate your own. Pelosi’s replacement was chased out o a Pride Parade Schumer was booed in NYC.
You hate everyone – even your own.
Trump did not promise “no new wars” – he promised not to get the US sucked into forever wars, he promised not to send US soldiers to die where no US interest were at stake. He promised not to ask US soldiers to die for nothing.
No president will ever promise “no wars” – would americans have tossed FDR out of office on Dec 8. 1941 because after Pearl Harbor he ent to war with Japan ?
You can if you wish argue that the Iran conflict was not necescary or in our national interest. But I do not hear you making that argument, only claiming Trump lied when he clearly did not.
Your going to blame Trump no matter what – if Iran got a nuke – that woud be Trumps fault, if we destroy their ability to do so – that is Trumps fault.
In the rot in your brian everything Trump does – and even things you THINK he did or might do, are inherently evil
Just because “argh Trump”
What event at the Mall with State pavilions is he talking about?
The one with fewer visitors than the mall gets when nothing is there but the grass and the gravel paths.

“Supreme Court Upholds Mississippi Late-Arriving Mail-In Ballot Law”
– NY Times
______________
Article 2, Section 1, Clause 4
“The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.”
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
An election DAY is the complete process of electing a candidate to office including voting, counting, and certifying the election.
The Constitution prescribes no additional temporal allowance beyond election “DAY” for absentee, mail-in, counting etc.
The Constitution establishes a single “Election Day,” which means one literal 24-hour calendar day.
Because “day” has its ordinary meaning, the entire election process must be confined to that period.
An election is not complete unless voting, counting, and certification are finished within that same day; it is not impossible and states must accomplish it on election “DAY.”
If any part of the process extends beyond that 24-hour window (such as mail-in voting or delayed counting), it is no longer constitutionally an “election.”
Therefore, practices that extend voting or processing beyond Election Day are unconstitutional because they effectively convert a single Election Day into an impermissible multi-
day election period.
All you have done is cite Alito’s flawed argument. Trump, Pence and many members of Congress all voted by mail. It has been the law for as long as I am aware that an item is considered “filed” with a court on the date it is postmarked. The same is true for absentee ballots. Of course, now we have electronic filing for court cases, but the law still applies because electronic filing is not required, especially for pro se litigants. Some lawyers I know have had their internet or computer systems go down and had to use filing by mail.
The rationale is simple- after you post an article that is properly addressed and with sufficient postage, you lose control of the item. You cannot control when it gets delivered. All the sender can control is WHEN they mailed it—- proven by the postmark, a certificate of mailing, (and/or certified or registered mail receipt or priority mail receipt), after it leaves your hands, you have no control over when it gets delivered —for a variety of reasons—weather, vehicle accidents, mistakes, misdelivery. It has long been a legal presumption that an item that was mailed was received because, generally speaking, the US mail is considered reliable.
Alito’s argument is just plain wrong because voting is complete when an absentee ballot is placed in the US mail— that is the “day on which the (voter) gave their vote.” It’s not uncommon for it to take longer than Election Day for all of the votes to be counted, including those cast in person, especially in states where the polls are open late in the evening— some as late as 8:00 pm. So, according to Alito’s flawed reasoning, are votes that haven’t been counted by midnight simply discarded? How would a voter assure that her vote counted? She has no control over when it gets tabulated, even when voting in person.
AND how do the various time zones affect Alito’s flawed reasoning? Does the deadline to count votes end at midnight Eastern time, even though midnight is 3 hours later on the west coast? According to which time zone are the 24 hours counted?
Voting and tabulation are 2 different things—voting, whether in person or by mail has to be completed by midnight on Election Day. Counting does not.
Just another example of the strained reasoning Alito would employ to help Trump carry out the MAGA agenda and why so many of us do not respect him.
ATS – absentee voting and mailin voting are not the same.
To vote Absentee YOU go to a goverment fascility, you are given a ballot, you fill it out, seal it , double seal it, and turn it over to election officials.
It is nearly identical to voting at the polls. What is different ? You are voting BEFORE election day.
No Trump and others in government and the military do NOT “vote by mail” – they vote absentee.
The ballots never leave control of the government – they are not in peoples homes, they are not in the hands of ballot harvestors.
In the 19th century Election fraud was Rampant – and mailin voting is bringing that back.
Why ? Because ballots floated arround in public – often political parties printed ballots themselves and then paid people to sign them.
In response 38 states ammended their constitutions to require secret ballots.
The state constitutional requirements for a secret ballot are:
an official ballot being printed at public expense,
on which the names of the nominated candidates of all parties and all proposals appear,
being distributed only at the polling place and
being marked in secret.
Absentee voting meets those requirements – mailin voting does not.
Personally I would eliminate “noexcuse” absentee voting Through the 20th century you could not vote absentee unless it was not possible for you to vote on election day.
But whether mass absentee voting is allowed or not – pretending it is the same as mailin voting is LYING.
Wow.
I was there two days ago and highly recommend it. The Mall is looking green and great, and the ferris wheel ride was worth the one-hour wait. It was lovely to ascend silently over our beautiful, beautiful capital city. My companion was from Vermont, and we did waste time looking for that state’s pavilion. (A list of the no-show states would have been helpful.)
Another regret was that our visit did not overlap with a rodeo session on the Mall, but we did venture into the Fifa Fan Zone. A very happening and happy crowd. Go!
Lawsuit Filed For Records On Jan. 6 Provocateur Ray Epps
During the Biden years, Kash Patel accused Jan. 6 provocateur Ray Epps of being a federal asset.
Referring to the fact that Epps was taken off the FBI’s Most Wanted list in early 2021, Patel said there was only two ways someone could get off that list—either they died or they’re working for the government. …

Biden’s Own Party Heckled Him During a Speech, and Then He Embarrassed Himself
It’s been two years since Joe Biden’s catastrophic debate against President Donald Trump, which ultimately made his party realize they could no longer pretend he was fit for office and forced him out of the race. Two years later, Biden is still proving how unfit he was, this time stumbling through a combative speech in front of the very people who used to cheer him on.

Supreme Court: Lisa Cook Keeps Job – For Now, Lets Trump Fire FTC Commissioners
The Supreme Court on Monday handed President Trump a significant defeat – ruling 5-4 that his attempt to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook was procedurally invalid and that the Fed’s century-old independence from presidential removal-at-will remains constitutionally intact. That said, it isn’t over for Cook – as the Court said she can stay in her job for now – while she fights in lower courts against Trump’s bid to oust her over allegations of mortgage fraud.

Are The Epstein Survivors Being Exploited Yet Again?
On February 8, 2026, the advocacy group World Without Exploitation launched a 40-second public service announcement during the Super Bowl featuring Jeffrey Epstein survivors demanding the full release of federal files related to Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
The Epstein survivors held up pictures of themselves when they were initially abused by Epstein as minors or young women. “After years of being kept apart, we’re standing together,” they said.

Biden is still proving how unfit he was, this time stumbling through a combative speech . . .
Biden was snarly and angry-looking, with an ugly frown, as he was “mumbled, coughed, yelled, cursed, and had to ask for instructions on how to exit the stage.”
