From Influence Peddler to Starving Artist: Hunter Biden Claims Family is Broke in Defaulting on $17 Million Bill

Hunter Biden is no Van Gogh. In addition to having both ears, Hunter’s work has generally been panned beyond an enabling media following. However, he claims he is also a starving artist. The problem appears to be that, as predicted years ago, his sales dried up with the influence-peddling market once his father left office. Now, his lawyers want him to cough up $17 million that he owes them. Hunter says that not only is he broke, but so is his family.

In a deposition in ongoing litigation with the law firm Winston Taylor, Hunter claimed an inability to pay the $17 million he owes his lawyers for representing him in criminal prosecutions, congressional investigations, and civil lawsuits.

Hunter claimed under oath that “I don’t own anything of any value other than — and I don’t know the value of it — my paintings which I painted myself. So that’s it. And I don’t even have any other assets at all, stocks, bonds, anything like that, savings accounts.” He also added, “My family doesn’t have any money, and it’s not their debt anyway.”

The statement about his family is curious, since Joe and Jill Biden recently received numerous book contracts and were thought to be worth millions. However, the Wall Street Journal recently reported that Joe Biden is struggling with $800,000 in debt and, ironically, increased property taxes in his blue state of Delaware on his $2.7 million home. (Moving to Florida like many fleeing blue state taxes is not a viable option for the Bidens).

Worse yet, no one wants Biden to do speeches and appearances, cutting off a lucrative post-presidency income. Not only is Biden obviously diminished in his ability to give a speech, but many Democrats blame him for the reelection of Trump by clinging to power despite his obvious deteriorating mental and physical condition.

Of course, the former president still rakes in more than $400,000 a year in government pensions.

Yet, in the end, Hunter is correct. It is not their debt unless they signed as guarantors on any debt.

Hunter continues to be the darling of the media with podcasts and interviews, including some who have called for him to run for president. He has lived in mansions and luxurious hotels for much of his life. However, that lifestyle was subsidized by wealthy Democratic donors and friends.

What is impressive is how Hunter could burn through millions accrued from alleged influence peddling and shady deals.

Notably, Fox News reports that the law firm, which is known for representing Democratic figures, has tried to connect Biden with donors to help him cover his legal bills, without success. With his father out of power, no one is willing to bankroll his lifestyle or buy his art.

Gone are the former swaggering threats that Hunter could make to shake down foreign figures. There was a time when he only needed to pick up a phone and send a text message like the one to a Chinese businessman, openly threatening Joe Biden’s displeasure if money is not sent to them immediately. In the WhatsApp message, Hunter stated:

“I am sitting here with my father, and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the Chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”

No one is answering now.

Hunter insisted that he is now virtually destitute: “I don’t have any assets. I don’t own a car. I don’t own a phone.”

Even his recent dubious award of $1.7 million in a defamation case was immediately claimed by the law firm, though that award can and should be appealed.

Hunter has written extensively on his struggle with drugs and alcohol. It is a great achievement to have overcome those addictions. Yet, the accounts would be more compelling if he did not unleash a scorched-earth campaign against critics when he was sober. He sued or threatened to sue a wide array of people to try to muscle them into silence. I was one of those threatened with a defamation lawsuit by his friend and sponsor Kevin Morris for writing about their curious relationship.

Hunter gamed the system on his crimes and was ultimately rescued from prison only by his father breaking his repeated public promise not to pardon his son.

Yet, Hunter is likely to live well as a ward of the privileged class. He remains the toast of the town for the left, a type of foul-mouthed prophet who claims to have been liberated by his own excesses. For those of us who have long been critics of his antics, it remains a bit too familiar.

Hunter makes even being broke look like a grift.

    1. The Biden family has more money stashed away than I will ever see in my lifetime. Lying POS, he certainly isn’t destitute!

  1. When any nation has yielded complete control over its the media, it is tougher to find justice for all. Goebbels got so good at bull…… he believed himself, murdering his six children, Magda and himself.

  2. The Bidens are all reprobates. As a teen in Philadelphia in the 80s, I recall it was common knowledge that Joe was a liar, a dope, and an insufferable blowhard. Only the rise of Barack HUSSEIN OSAMA to POTUS was more shocking than potato Joe being annointed by his party.

    1. One didn’t have to be a teen in Philly to know that. plugs has made it VERY obvious over the decades.

  3. I have no sympathy for ANYONE in this.

Near all of us know the debauchery and corruption of the Biden’s

But the lawfirms that are owed here – KNEW who they were getting in bed with.

    This outcome was completely forseable.

A pox on both their houses

  4. This isn’t exactly Hunter Biden’s first rodeo.

Not too far down one of the most rancid memory holes in recorded history is the time Hunter denied that he was the father of his daughter, Navy.

First he tried the Clinton playbook: I did not have sexual relations with that woman. Then the DNA test came back.

Before long the million-dollar-a-year Burisma board seat was gone. The art career hadn’t quite taken off. And who could have known that transitory inflation would send the price of hookers and blow through the roof?

So he did what any reasonable father would do. He invoked the starving artist defense to slash his child support payments.

It could literally happen to anyone. Even the president’s son.

Now it’s the lawyers’ turn. Different obligation, same playbook.

As his father liked to say, “I give you my word as a Biden.”

    1. They played a big joke on everyone, and they allowed others to cover for them, expected it.Lots of biden money was washed..thru the grandkids, amongst other things

  5. Not buying it. HB frolicked with international financiers who likely taught him the ropes of playing the international banking system to hide transactions. Think Panama, the Caymans, Switzerland, Cyprus, etc.

      1. Panama does not recognize US law so you can hide money there. “Paradise Papers” makes an interesting search it turned out Apple Computer was one of the most aggressive offshore operators, moving $250 Millon in profits from the tax haven Ireland to the Isle of Jersey to obtain an even more favorable rate.

  6. What I want to know is what lawyer is willing to represent Hunter in a case involving his not paying his other lawyers? I’m not talking about morally but rather simple self preservation. It’s not like there is any doubt that he owes the money, so what makes the new lawyer think they are going to have any better luck getting paid when their bill comes due?

    1. In Hunter Biden’s case the Plaintiffs (Creditors) would involve a Bankruptcy Atty. with Debt Collections services to obtain restitution.
Debt Collection services like Columbia Debt Recovery LLC dba Genesis would be engaged after the Bankruptcy Court finalizes the case plan (engaged by the Creditor’s Atty.). The Bankruptcy Atty takes a cut ($) of the recovery or a set fee is made on billable hours.

Basically Hunter will be hounded to the end of his days unless he can cough-up enough money to settle the Creditor’s judgment(s).

      1. Google AI string: ( Will a Presidential Pardon protect you from bankruptcy ? )

No, a Presidential Pardon will not protect you from bankruptcy. Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution dictates that the presidential pardon power is strictly limited to criminal offenses against the federal government. Because bankruptcy is an entirely civil legal proceeding concerning debts and financial liabilities, executive clemency cannot wipe away your financial obligations or halt the bankruptcy process.

Key Differences Between Pardons and Bankruptcy
Feature | Presidential Pardon | Bankruptcy
Legal Domain | Criminal Law | Civil Law
Primary Focus | Forgiving federal crimes and penalties | Resolving or discharging consumer/business debt
Governing Body | The Executive Branch (The President) | The Judicial Branch (U.S. Bankruptcy Court)
Impact on Debt | Cannot absolve you of private or civil debts | Can legally discharge or restructure eligible debts

Why a Pardon Offers No Financial Protection
Bankruptcy is not a crime: Filing for bankruptcy is a civil right governed by the federal bankruptcy code. It is not a criminal offense, meaning there is no conviction to pardon.
Debt is a civil contract: Financial debts are legal contracts between you and your lenders. The President cannot invalidate private contracts or eliminate the rights of your creditors through executive orders.
Limited to federal offenses: A presidential pardon can only be issued for federal criminal offenses. It does not impact civil lawsuits, foreclosures, repossessions, or state-level legal matters.

If you are facing overwhelming debt and looking for legal protection from your creditors, you must seek relief through the U.S. Bankruptcy Court rather than executive action.

  7. Ahh, the Yale Law Grad is in legal and financial trouble. Boo Hoo, he’s so oppressed, almost as much as Michelle Obama. Meanwhile Yale Law continues to not hire conservative professors.

  8. The Biden family is broke because they can no longer grift off Dementia Joe’s political position. End of story.
    s

  9. Yeah, this piece proves that the Bidens don’t know how to grift like the Trumps. First of all, despite the fact that Republicans did everything in their power to prove that Hunter Biden was selling influence, they came up with nothing. No money went to Joe Biden, and no favors were received in exchange. Does that stop MAGA media pundits like Turley from claiming that Hunter WAS selling influence and continuing to harp on that instead of focusing on Trump’s utter disasters with the economy and the ongoing war he started and has no clue how to end? Nope–they just keep repeating the same disproven lies–to wit: that Dr. Fauci somehow financed gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, that COVID was a biologically-engineered genetic mutation instead of a natural mutation, or that, somehow, Dr. Fauci himself “shut down” the country with false recommdations calculated to make Trump look bad, all of which was unnecessary. That Dr. Fauci contradicted Trump on his valid recommendations to take Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine as COVID “cures”. All provable lies. Dr. Fauci had no authority to shut anything down, all recommendations he made were based on the consensus of scientists based on what was known at the time and based on the daily new records for COVID deaths and infections, overwhelmed hospitals and shortages of ventilators. Genetic testing by scientists from several countries proves that the genetics of the COVID virus were not tampered with, and that the mutation was natural–from animals in the Wuhan wet market, where positive cultures proved that to be the likely source. Another big MAGA lie–that Trump “won” in 2020, that widespread fraud deprived him of his “victory”, even though all polls predicted he would lose and all audits and recounts prove that he lost. Just like the attacks on Dr. Fauci, Trump can’t let his 2020 loss go, and Turley can’t let the “Hunter Biden Scandal” go.

Now, about the Trumps–the grifting is shocking–why doesn’t Turley address that, a current and relevant issue, instead of harping about Hunter Biden? That’s not part of the MAGA playbook–attack mainstream media that truthfully reports just how awful Trump and his worthless kids are, so attack non-MAGA media as not being honest. Here are a few examples:

Trump secretly agreed for the federal government to finance a small mining company, in which the Trump sons and Howard Lutnick’s son would benefit financially for purchasing an interest in the tungsten reserves of Kazakhstan. Why are we taxpayers funding a company in which these people benefit financially?

From the Transparency, Accountability & Oversight Committee of the Democratic Party: “While Americans struggle to buy groceries and pay rent, Donald Trump is making his family richer through digital grift schemes— collecting profits through digital wallets and granting pardons to the highest bidders.

While Trump and his family are using the White House to make billions, we are tracking every cent. As of January 2026, our Committee’s analysis shows that these schemes have contributed to an estimated $2.25 billion in realized profits for Trump from foreign payments, corrupt oligarchs, and others.

This total rises to as much as $9.7 billion when the value of Trump’s digital assets is factored in, with as much as $600 million coming from foreign interests.”

There’s the $400 Billion plane from Qatar that we taxpayers paid to refurbish that Trump intends to take with him. Pam Bondi, AG at the time, and a paid lobbist for Qatar, “approved” the gift, despite the fact that it is a clear violation of the emoluments clause. From “Huff Post”: “Just months after soliciting and receiving a $400 million luxury airliner for himself from Qatar, President Donald Trump has now quietly granted the oil-rich autocracy a NATO-like defense guarantee, promising a U.S. response if it is attacked.

“The United States shall regard any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of the United States,” the Trump-signed order decrees.”

And, how about the $2 Billion bailout of Jared Kushner’s business by Saudi Arabia, which Trump is rewarding by setting up a nuclear enrichment program to be run by American companies with ties to him. Yeah, that’s just what the Middle East needs–more nuclear proliferation.

Then, there’s the fake lawsuit calculated to give $1 to each of Trump’s army of insurrectionists as “reparation” for the inconvenience of being arrested for trespassing and trashing the Capitol, beating up police officers and doing millions in property damage. I guess a pardon isn’t enough. Included in that fake lawsuit is a “get out of jail free” pass for Trump, his companies and his worthless children–no IRS audits and immunity from prosecution for life. Even though Todd Blanche verbally represented that the deal was “off”, he refused to put anything in writing, so the “settlement agreement” between Trump and himself remains and is an enforceable contract, Trump contradicted Blanche–he wants $1,776 Billion of our tax dollars, so the deal really isn’t off, and that’s why at least 2 Republicans won’t vote his nomination out of committee. Where are the rest of the Republicans? Why doesn’t Turley address this scandal? The national debt has risen to a new high.

Yeah, the big scandal worth Turley’s time is Hunter Biden’s insolvency.

    1. $1,776 B you say?! Now where have I seen that number before….hmmm let me think?!
      1776…what date could that represent…

      1. It sure as hell doesn’t represent democracy, freedom, patriotism or integrity. $1 million each to insurrectionists who broke through police barriers, smashed doors and windows, beat up police officers and did millions of dollars of damage to the Capitol while they were were hunting down the Vice President, intending to kill him, to prevent the rightful election winner from taking office ?

What does that have to do with the patriots who founded this country? It is literally obscene that Trump and MAGA pander to patriotism by waving the flag—they are the antithesis of patriotism with their push for unitary executive power, gerrymandering to keep power and disenfranchise black and minority voters, efforts to make it more difficult to vote, trying to eliminate voting by mail, xenophobia, racism, flaunting of court orders, allowing Trump to help himself to our Treasury, starting a war without the consent of Congress, and all the rest of Project 2025.

This is a perfect example of the difference between MAGA and conservatives, who respect and defend the rule of law and police officers. You MAGAS are members of a cult, devoted to the worship of a malignant narcissist who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, including getting loyal followers to attack police officers and invade the Capitol to prevent the rightful election winner from taking office because his tender ego can’t handle the fact that he lost a free and fair election.

It’s even OK with you that he sets up a phony lawsuit as a vehicle to financially reward those criminals who committed crimes in his name and to get lifetime immunity from IRS audits and criminal charges for himself and his worthless children. Each insurrectionist would become a millionaire, which would incentivize further such outrageous behavior.

And Turley is attacking Hunter Biden, accusing him of influence peddling (influence peddling isn’t even illegal—that’s what lobbyists do, but none was proven against Hunter Biden), and ignoring evidence of the outrageous grifting of the Trumps.

This is a perfect example of the difference between journalism and MAGA media.

        1. When you steal elections, there are consequences. Treason, sedition and subversion were practiced against President Trump and our country.

          The gallows are hungry!

    2. Gigi – you have been spraying this long list of debunked nonsense some of it for 10 years.

Few believe you and fewer care.

    3. We find the extent of Gigenius’ delusion in this one statement “No money went to Joe Biden”.

Complete denial of the words from Hunter himself saying that daddy was taking all of his money.

    4. I’ve rarely seen someone pack so many provable lies into one post as you just did. Point by point:
*you claim it’s NOT true that Fauci “somehow” financed “gain-of-function research” at the Wuhan lab. In 2015–five years before Covid–“bat lady” at the Wuhan Institute gave a paper at an international convention on virus research, describing the lab’s achievement in managing to insert a single gene into a bat coronavirus. On the last page she thanked Fauci for funding the research and even included the grant number–which matches a grant from Fauci’s NIAID. I read the paper in 2015. It is the entre into gain-of-function.
*second: You cover for Fauci by claiming Covid-19 evolved via “natural mutation.” But if you’d bothered to examine the genetic code of the spike protein [spoiler: you haven’t] compared to the closest “natural” bat coronavirus you’ll see four very obvious inserted genes. They’re obvious because the other thousand or so “codons” on both sides of the inserts perfectly match the closest “natural” virus. The only was this could happen is by cutting the natural virus apart and inserting the genes at EXACTLY the right point. And ALL four of the insertions make the spike protein better able to bind with the ACE-2 receptor cells in the human airway–which is what makes the normally harmless bat virus lethal to one -tenth of one percent of humans.
*third: you claim Fauci never “shut down the country.” But in his diary–which he never imagined would be found–he BRAGGED about getting NY and Cali to shut down, by talking w/ Cuomo and Newsom.
*fourth: You claim “Genetic testing by scientists from several countries proves that the genetics of the COVID virus were not tampered with, and that the mutation was natural–from animals in the Wuhan wet market.” There was and is no way to prove the genetic code wasn’t modified, and in fact the insertions prove the opposite. If you know of a paper that supports your claim, post it here. You don’t, because you’re lying.
*fifth:: you make the utterly absurd claim that “positive cultures [from the wet market] proved that to be the likely source. Even Fauci’s own diary says the market was NOT the source, even as he claimed literally hundreds of times on TV that it WAS. He was lying, and knew it, as his diary proves. But more to the point, the fact that a culture shows a virus no more proves that location was the source than culturing a random patient in a hospital proves that person was the source. Utter horseshit.
Are you really this dumb, or does the Democrat party pay you by the word for your nonsense?

    5. They didn’t have to produce proof of the graft – hunter and plugs did that on their own!

  10. Senator Joseph Biden showed Americans the content of his character during the Clarence Thomas SCOTUS confirmation hearings in 1991 but worse he showed how bereft he was on an intellectual level during Antonin Scalia SCOTUS confirmation in 1986. In the following exchange between Scalia and Biden, one sees Scalia laughing at Biden while the Senator poses questions haltingly, continually shifting in his seat, nervous behavior with his reading glasses and an overall lack of intellectual muster of what he was asking Scalia. Scalia just laughs in response

These 2 momentous nominations defined Joseph Biden in my mind. It has been downhill since then. Expecting his son Hunter Biden to surpass his father’s achievements was far lower than what Joe did to Clarence Thomas. In the end, Clarence Thomas had the last laugh. The legacy media, as with Barack Obama, foisted these craven grifters and intellectual midgets on America because they chose someone who reflected their capabilities.

    1. Hard to imagine this unprincipled person has been an elected official for many years. Causes shivers…

    2. I have no problem with Biden’s performance in the clip and thought that he and Scalia had an interesting and civil exchange.

  11. In the classic 1940 Disney animated film Pinocchio, the grifter fox is named J. Worthington Foulfellow, though he is widely known by his ironic nickname, “Honest John.”He is an anthropomorphic, fast-talking con artist who, alongside his silent cat sidekick Gideon, spends his time tricking and swindling the residents of a small town.
The reincarnation of this shifty fox is J. Hunter Biden Worthington Foulfellow. The new epic film is being filmed in China town. In Honest John Hunters’ role as himself he is a natural.

  12. Vice President Joe was a CIA asset along with his son Hunter the first crackhead family agent shaking the tree for money to fall out… Our politicians should NOT be intel assets.

  13. This law firm was doing everything it could to see that Joe Biden was reelected so that payment for the defense of his son would be as good as gold. It all fell apart. I for one am ecstatic at the thought of knowing that the firm will not see a dime for their efforts. It reminds me of grifter fox and his buddy the cat in the Pinocchio movie. https://www.google.com/search?q=grifter+foxy+in+pinocchio&client=safari&hs=pqhV&sca_esv=29cd9412ce350a53&biw=1319&bih=803&sxsrf=APpeQnvm4kk73vNZKlQ4W5vHNohptJvxfw%3A1785695886549&ei=jo5vapCQIeDKvMcPuMTgiQs&oq=Grifter+foxy+in+pin&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIhNHcmlmdGVyIGZveHkgaW4gcGluKgIIADIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKABMgUQIRigATIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKABSKqHAVD6CljwdHACeAGQAQGYAYUBoAGXGKoBBDkuMjC4AQHIAQD4AQGYAg-gAvUKwgIKEAAYRxjWBBiwA8ICBBAjGCfCAgUQIRirAsICBRAhGJ8FmAMAiAYBkAYIkgcEMy4xMqAHuN4BsgcEMS4xMrgH7QrCBwcwLjUuOS4xyAc_gAgB&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp
Pinocchio smoking a big cigar and getting sick is a perfect metaphor of the Biden boys.
I’d like to convince myself that it just wasn’t real. But that’s not the way it feels.

  14. Hunter Biden?…of what possible relevance to charting the future? The only legal topic that remains unsolved:

His candidate dad, along with ex-intelligence officials, concocted a cover-up of his laptop 3 weeks before the 2020 election. With the help from a broad coalition of sympathetic media, a significant chunk of the electorate was successfully duped for a month or two — long enough to win the Presidency. Censorship was the smaller part of it — it worked because an alt-narrative was pushed out giving the media-machine talking points.

After the whopper was exposed post-Inauguration, a poll indicated as many as 11% might have switched their vote had they been equipped with the truth. Nothing has changed in campaign law as a result. And now, 2026 deceptive political infowarrior has a new toolbag of trickery and deceit….AI. So far, it’s completely legal to defraud the electorate….not even stoppable via civil lawsuit.

Can’t we discuss that? How about a topic that matters?

    1. pbinca, the American people saw the subterfuge and as a result Donald Trump was elected. Your solution is flirting with the necessity to create The Ministry of Truth as a knew government agency. Would you have it so?

      1. What???…the 2020 election, not 2024. Absolutely NOT a Ministry of Truth. That’s not what our Founders gave us for untangling the truth. They gave us Juries of 12 typical Americans deciding the truth (after hearing adverse presentations). In giving us the 1st Amendment, they also precluded a Ministry of Truth. Why would you guess that’s where I was leading?

Civil lawsuits (public frauds) is the best way to deter campaigns, candidates and surrogates from pushing out false-flags and deceitful infowarfare. It gives a JURY the job of deciding between competing narratives. The due-process needs to be greatly sped up, so that any political operative planning to launch a whopper can expect to receive a subpoena, and be forced into compelled deposition under oath, within a few days time.
And, media amplifiers of the fraud would also be named in the lawsuit.

Campaign fraud-ops would face an entirely different set of immediate consequences. That would have a taming effect on attempts to dupe the public.

    2. “a significant chunk of the electorate was successfully duped for a month or two”

LMAO Gigenius STILL thinks the laptop is fake.

  15. Has Winston Taylor found any trusts, on or offshore, of which Hunter is a direct or indirect beneficiary?

    1. The money is stored in Switzerland under an alternate identity. Where’s the key and password. The password is the Fibonacci series but where is the 🗝. Of course there’s at least a billion put away.
