Winston Churchill, an avid painter, always said that “audacity” is the key to every artist. If so, Caspar San Giorgi, 39, has a good start on an artistic career in Great Britain. The Palestinian activist, who is reportedly Dutch and also goes by the name of Olax Outis, took a ladder and a box of spray paint in February to deface the famous statue of Churchill in Parliament Square. Despite his admitting to the crime and rejoicing in it, a British jury just found him not guilty in a blatant act of jury nullification.
Churchill also observed that “armed with a paint-box, one cannot be bored.” San Giorgi certainly proved that observation. He used red spray paint to write the messages “Free Palestine”, “Stop the Genocide”, and described Britain’s WWII leader as a “Zionist War Criminal.” He then reportedly boasted in court about causing the £7,000 in damage.
San Giorgi insisted that he is a “citizen of The Hague.” The International Criminal Court located at The Hague has declared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal over the war in Gaza.
He said in court that this was a message for Sir Keir Starmer and Parliament: “If I had a larger canvas and more time, I would have written: ‘If Keir Starmer doesn’t come to The Hague, The Hague will come for him.'”
He told the jury that he was not guilty because he used paint that could be washed off and that his protest was “preventing a crime,” not committing a crime.
San Giorgi remained defiant and proud of his conduct:
“Whether you convict me or not is not too much of a concern for me. Whether I get acquitted, deported, imprisoned for years, I can be proud of having spoken about injustice and I have accounted for my actions. I will accept your judgement.”
The jury proceeded to declare him not guilty. It is regrettably a sign of the times in London. Rage has now replaced reason. In June 2020, the statue was vandalized so often that the city encased it in a wooden box. Rather than arresting those seeking to deface it, Churchill was boxed away from public sight.
Now, a jury has decided that it is not a crime to deface public property.
Churchill famously said that “the best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” I am beginning to see what he meant.
Its all but over, the UK has been overun. The enemy is inside the wire.
There was a reason our founding fathers resticted voting to white landowners. Not that I agree with it completely. However, voting should be restricted to citizens who are taxpayers and not living off of the taxpayer.
I don’t think we should restrict voting to taxpayers – but we should have to pass a test on US Civics and US History to register to vote (along with proof of citizenship). The purpose of restricting voting to white male landowners was that they believed they had skin in the game and would stay informed… they recognized that ignorant voters pose a threat to our Constitutional Republic. This one-man-one-vote “democracy” nonsense has done a tremendous amount of damage that we are living with today because the ignorant and uninformed are too easily manipulated!
It won’t work if we allow everyone to vote because all of the non-taxpayers will always vote for more government money for the nonproductive.

Speaking of statues, there was comrade Broniewski, a poet famous for praising Stalin after the WW2. When he died in 1962, commies erected a statue in his honor in his hometown of Płock. People resolved to protest by constantly leaving empty vodka bottles on it. He got inspired by Stalin while drunk.

It did not cost £7,000 to wash the statue. Since it looked quite clean where the paint didn’t reach, I’d say that the statue gets regularly washed to remove the pigeon droppings. If it cost more than £70 I’d be surprised.

It is a 12-foot tall bronze statue. According to the city of London, who already paid for the repairs, the final cost was over £7,000. That cost was for cleaning and *restoring* the bronze statue.

Also fines are designed to punish, same as jail time. It has to deter, not just reimburse for costs, otherwise it doesn’t serve its purpose.

One time it was vandalized with paint; the cost was around 600 pounds. That made today’s cost seem very high. A further inquiry showed they repatinated the statue, and that required expensive scaffolding and significant work. The two-day cost for scaffolding was 3,000 pounds, and the patina work was 2,000 pounds.
Well, that was a completely pointless exercise, and waste of time.

I watched the video of the washing – paint came off cleanly and there was no underlying change to the statue. If they wanted to “restore” it that is a separate task unrelated to cleaning off the paint.

Try actually reading the First Amendment to the United States Constitution before invoking it, you communist dipshit. It begins “CONGRESS shall make no law…”. It says nothing about administrative management of the home of the Executive branch. Who to admit or deny admission to that facility is completely at the discretion of the head of that Branch (POTUS, if you need a clue): the First Amendment does not apply to that discretion.
