Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) has been struggling with other members of the Democratic establishment to appease the far-left radicals in her party. Last week, she insisted that she was not concerned about the rising socialist movement in her party. Sixty-five percent of Democratic voters now support socialism and a shocking 60% would support a military coup. Now Dean is throwing the Supreme Court to the mob, declaring that the institution is “corrupted,” the common claim of court-packers to justify a hostile takeover of the Court. She has joined an ignoble list of politicians who choose personal power over our constitutional principles.
Dean went on MS NOW to show her radical bona fides in an interview with host Jonathan Capehart, who raised the favorite talking point of how the Republicans were seeking to steal the next election.
Dean immediately turned the question into an attack on the Court, expressing her concern “about a United States Supreme Court that has been so corrupted.”
It is a narrative that is entirely unconnected to reality. As I discussed in a recent column, the Court continues not only to rule against this president in major cases but also to rule unanimously or nearly unanimously in the vast majority of cases.
Dean’s criticism of the Court is particularly ironic in the same week the Court again ruled against Republicans in an election case by rejecting, for a third time, the effort to redesign voting districts before the midterm elections.
The false narrative is part of a concerted effort by Democratic politicians to condition voters into accepting court packing. Professors and pundits are now demanding that court-packing be an actual litmus test for Democratic candidates.
The reason is a sad statement about the state of American politics. Presented with the prospect of guaranteeing power for years by rejecting our constitutional values and traditions, politicians like Dean are choosing power.
Former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder has put packing the Supreme Court front and center, explaining, “[We’re] talking about the acquisition and the use of power if there is a Democratic trifecta in 2028.”
It is the Nike School of Constitutional Law. Democratic leaders are pledging to “just do it” to appease the mob. Of course, some of these measures would be challenged if done without constitutional amendment. The Supreme Court would then have to rule on the effort to pack or limit its members. The expansion can be done by legislative vote. Although most Americans oppose court packing, Democrats view control of the Court as essential to pushing through a radical agenda to change the political system to their advantage.
Years ago, Harvard professor Michael Klarman laid out a radical agenda to change the system to guarantee Republicans “will never win another election.” However, he warned that “the Supreme Court could strike down everything I just described.” Therefore, the court must be packed in advance to make these changes possible.
In the same way that a vast majority of Democratic voters now say that they would favor a military coup in the name of “saving democracy,” Democratic politicians are claiming to protect our constitutional system by destroying it with court packing.
Every leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination has now embraced court-packing, a new litmus test for the far left.
It is the ultimate form of corruption … in politicians like Rep. Dean. Presented with a clear choice between power and principle, they choose power.

Why have courts if you can “pack” them. Why have a Judiciary system that has jurisdiction over over federal legal issues – constitutional questions and disputes between states. – Court were founded by the judicial act in 1789 by George Washington. 6 orginal justices. I have lived it for 20 years as my former husband a former state senator and chairman of the judiciary committee in the FL legislature, used the court for 20 years to bully, financially and legally abuse and deplete me the custodial parent becasue he could and was mad and wanted revenge because I divorced him. No Laws, precents, statutes were followed or adhered to. It was because “he said so so therefore it must be”. Absurdity.
Power and control freaks. That is what this is all about, I know – Power, greed and insatiable need to control. Dilute the highest sanctioning body in the Unites States that restores human rights and sovereignty and you have a break down in civilization as we are all experiencing when you look around at the insanity of shootings, killings, voting manipulations, the backstabbing of our politicians, the misuse of our agencies who do not do their jobs, the rise of hopelessness and faith in our governement, this is America. Just another MAGA piece to fit into the public relations message of “crazy vs. common sense”–ignoring the corruption and economic fallout from Trump and his Republican enablers and attacking Democrats as radicals. Turley claims Democrats favor “court packing”—something that’s supposed to be “corrupt” if Democrats want to use it to level the playing field to have a SCOTUS that more aligns with a balanced view of the law– but Republican court packing that’s how we got the current SCOTUS. Mitch McConnell denied Obama his pick when Scalia died in February, for the alleged reason that the November election was so close that it wouldn’t be fair. But, after Ginsberg died in September, 2020, with the election coming less than 2 months later, that rule didn’t apply–so we got Barrett, who lied about her position on stare decisis as applied to Roe v. Wade, because she planned all along to find a way to reverse the nearly 50-year precedent–she had written a law review article on how she thought it could be done. Americans favor the rule of law laid down in Roe–the Constitutional right to abortion prior to the age of fetal viability. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh also lied about their position on stare decisis and Roe, and Republicans cut off witnesses who wanted to testify about Kavanaugh and his wild ways. All three of these were first vetted by the Leo Leonard Federalist Society, which favors the Project 2025 unitary executive theory. That’s court packing, Republican-style. These people have lifetime appointments. Americans want change and don’t trust the SCOTUS. Adding more moderate justices is one way to accomplish that–and, there’s nothing in the Constitution that requires any certain number of justices. But Turley claims that adding more moderate justices would be “corrupt”. Americans know better–they know the SCOTUS is tilted against their interests. The current SCOTUS votes in favor of Trump 90% of the time, and Trump keeps pushing the boundaries of presidential authority–Americans don’t like that, either. Republicans, who control Congress won’t do their duty to rein him in–Congress is supposed to control how our tax dollars are spent–but Trump treats our treasury like his personal slush fund–even promising to reward adult citizens $5,000 if Republicans win–giving “Trump accounts” of our tax money to children, and now, he is using our tax dollars to pay for political ads. He keeps pushing, and Republicans, the impotent cowards they are, just let him get away with it.
Just take a look at Trump and his corruption–he made at least $2 billion in 2025 on his worthless cryptocurrency. His sons have financial interests in companies that are awarded no-bid government contracts. Trump is doing everything in his power to acquire as much attention and adulation possible–tearing down part of the White House to build a vainglory ballroom, constructing a 250-ft (25 story) arch in his honor, trying to put his name ahead of JFK on the JFK Center for Performing Arts, and trying to get a battleship under construction re-named for him that is already named for a black sailor who saved his captain during the Pearl Harbor attack. Trump keeps using tariffs to punish countries that won’t kow tow to his whims, he has aliented our EU allies and Canada, offered to sell weapons to China, gave the Chinese President a red carpet welcome, even though China has been helping Iran by telling them how to bomb our military installations. He got nothing for all of the embarrassing butt-kissing. He started a war that his incompetent military advisors told him would be over in a few days, and now he has no idea how to end it gracefully. As a result, food and fuel prices keep going up, along with inflation, with no end in sight.
So, how do Republicans and MAGA handle all of this bad stuff–not to mention the lies Trump told to get elected? Try to portray Democrats as “radicals”. Thankfully, it’s not working

We never had “open borders”. Biden didn’t immediately incarcerate people seeking asylum— that’s not “open borders”, and preaching fear of migrants is racist. Most Americans support a path to citizenship. So the majority of Democrats back Socialism? OK fair enough. Yet, it remains to be seen if this moves forward as time moves. It may be popular to say so, but votes decide, minds change, and feet become cold. Always remember the Democrat that was voted in from a field of extremes. The centrist white man.
