Below is my column in The Hill on the appearance of Jack Smith in a “No Kings” T-Shirt just days after his testimony on Capitol Hill, claiming to have had no bias or agenda against Trump. Smith must have known that his presence and dress at the “Power to the People” concert would be widely circulated on the Internet. His message was clear, but entirely unnecessary given his record as Special Counsel.
Here is the column:
After his recent congressional testimony, former Special Counsel Jack Smith appeared at a “Power to the People Fest” sporting a “No Kings” T-shirt. Aside from a midlife crisis, the most likely explanation is that Smith wanted to send a message, reaffirming his bona fides as an anti-Trump warrior.
It was a Comey moment, but without the seashells.
The Power to the People Fest featured many whom Smith has long cultivated in the “Democracy-is-Ending” crowd. The organizers billed the event as “working to restore and strengthen democracy” and featured some of Trump’s loudest critics.
The top billing went to Bruce Springsteen, who has lately turned his concerts into anti-Trump rave sessions, including comparing Trump officials to “Gestapo” and calling the administration “treasonous.” He continued those attacks at the concert with Smith, denouncing Trump as “lawless” and his administration as murderers.
For his part, Tom Morello, the chief organizer of the rally, has called Trump and his administration “fascists” and leading crowds in chants of “F— Trump.”
And there was Smith in his own “No Kings” tee shirt.
It was a particularly inopportune time, as new evidence on Capitol Hill showed how Smith not only seized phone records of Republican members of Congress, but tracked communications with Trump’s attorney.
Smith has always been undone by his excessive appetite and his habitual failure to respect the limits on his authority. He has a history of losing major cases by advancing excessive and abusive legal claims. This included his stinging defeat in a unanimous Supreme Court decision dismantling his case against former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R).
During the Trump investigation, Smith showed that he had learned nothing from his losses. Indeed, former Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith with full knowledge of his past disregard for constitutional limits.
Smith richly deserves to be criticized for his unrelenting attack on free speech protections as well as his decision to file a second case focusing on the 2020 election. And the unfolding details of how Smith seized the telephone records of Republican members of Congress, including those investigating his own conduct, only confirm suspicions that Smith wanted to bag Trump at any cost. That included seeking to curtail appeals and rush prosecutions before the 2024 election. Smith failed when Trump chose to run despite the lawfare, and he failed again when Trump handily won the election. But Smith’s obsession was so consuming that he was willing to try Trump right up to Inauguration Day.
The new details of Smith’s investigation should outrage members of both parties. The use of pen registers (to identify the destination of outbound calls and messages) and of trap and trace orders (for incoming) entirely disregarded longstanding rules protecting the legislative branch from such encroachments. And what is particularly alarming is that these searches were obvious fishing expeditions — these were not focused searches on specific wrongdoing, like the searches involving the corruption case against Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) 20 years ago.
In addition to members of Congress, Smith and his team monitored the activities of Trump’s legal defense team, journalists and campaign advisers. That includes now-White House chief of staff Susie Wiles’ phone. At the same time, Smith secured a non-disclosure order from the court that prevented mobile carriers from notifying the affected lawmakers that they were being spied on. Thus, as members were looking into Smith’s excesses, they were not told that he was receiving and poring over their telephone records.
The White House Government Transparency Task Force released material this week showing that Smith’s team used an investigation codenamed “Plasmic Echo” to engage in an untethered fishing expedition. Notably, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco signed off on the sweeping seizure with no apparent effort to address obvious constitutional concerns over the right to counsel and Article I powers. Once again, Garland was entirely passive and simply endorsed the recommendations of those around him.
FBI Director Christopher Wray sent a March 2022 memo to Garland and Monaco seeking the attorney general’s approval to launch Plasmic Echo. Monaco added her endorsement before Garland signed off.
FBI investigators traced “Wiles’ phone calls and text messages with at least 21 lawyers affiliated with Trump, numerous campaign staff, political advisors, and at least five journalists from at least February to May 2023.”
This investigation also involved gathering intelligence on Trump’s political action committee, including its donors and campaign expenses.
Smith and the FBI continued the aggressive posture even as agents were balking at some of these means, including those who felt that the raid on Mar-a-Lago was unnecessary to resolve the concerns over the classified material.
Smith has continued to portray himself as unbiased and not motivated in any way by the election: “Anybody who has worked with me and knows me during the course of my career knows that I would not let politics play a role,” he has said.
But shortly afterward, he appeared in his No Kings tee shirt at the Power to the People fest. It was vintage Smith — an almost mocking arrogance in the face of growing criticism over his methods and partisanship.
The irony is that Smith was a better fit as a member of this profanity-spewing anti-Trump crowd than he ever was as special counsel. The pretense was gone, and he was finally in his element. In that sense, he might view this as his coming-out party, but Smith actually came out years ago.

Sigmund the Fraud, you rely on projection while generalizing because you can’t target specific ideas. When you accuse others of obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, you are actually looking in a mirror and seeing yourself. But there is more to your psychiatric disease. You want control over the environment and try to get it through lying and word manipulation. You pretend to be analyzing another, and that is how I labelled you Sigmund the Fraud, but your knowledge of psychiatry is poor and mixed up. You tried to up your game by using Karen Horney’s name to demonstrate your expertise, but you failed at understanding her words.
I suggest you look up control fixation again because earlier you hit only part of your disease. Another poster says you are X. I doubt that, but you have many features of X. Gross stupidity and lying are the most prominent, but they are common to X and all the anonymous creatures on the blog.
Final Grade: Failure
Jack Smith; Garland; their accomplices.
The Obama/Biden era was more corrupt and totalitarian than I thought or would have imagined. Before the recent revelations I only compared them to the Mafia. I was too generous.
I scanned or read all the comments so far this date.
Mostly ignored the comments by that pest, Anonymous.
It was an anonymous who complained about a terrorist being publicly executed. Anonymous can simply pretend that person is a conservative political commentator or a health care executive, and then he’ll be able to celebrate the public execution instead of griping about it.
David, So do I.
On this Columbus Day….
An Apology to Christopher Columbus: Better Late Than Never
Dear Christopher Columbus,
I’m writing to offer my sincerest apologies for the many years Americans have gone without properly thanking you for all you did for us. As a nation we’ve been terribly ungrateful, and frankly, it’s about time somebody corrected this historical oversight.
Thanks to your famous voyage, we Americans have inherited a land where we no longer have to worry about Indians running around with tomahawks, living in teepees without air-conditioning, or scalping white folks. Leftists do that.
Instead, we’ve managed to replace those old-fashioned inconveniences with a few modern comforts of our own: men who identify as women and beat the snot out of women in womens sports, political arguments at Thanksgiving dinner, and substandard internet trolls
I’m especially grateful that we can now enjoy the great American tradition of celebrating your arrival with a holiday, a parade, and a big meal—while conveniently avoiding any awkward conversations about what happened after Injuns were converted to Catholicism.
Of course, I understand that history is a complicated business. You were looking for one place, found another, and somehow wound up in the history books as the man who discovered a continent that already had millions of savages living on it. That must have been quite the surprise for everyone involved. That and the plague.
So please accept my belated thanks for setting in motion the chain of events that helped create the America we know today—a country of sick, lame, lazy and crazy Demorats, and trolls who can create endless sock puppets because they cant get no satisfaction
We may have been a little slow in expressing our appreciation, but you know what they say: can we have a re-do?
Yours in belated gratitude.
Happy Columbus Day!
🇺🇸🎉🥳🌿
Our treasury secretary wished senator Warren a very happy indigenous persons day.
I very much appreciate your tribute to Christopher Columbus, with all the good, bad and, indeed, ugly that his arrival here brought to this continent. Indeed, it’s quite possible that without Columbus’s “discovery,” I might well not be here to endorse your comment. And I am so VERY grateful that I AM here today. This despite what you and I (and many others) know all too well that we have become:
“the America [that] we know today—a country of sick, lame, lazy and crazy Demorats, and trolls who can create endless sock puppets because they cant get no satisfaction”
It is sad that we have come to this, 250 years after the founding of the longest-enduring democracy (I know, I know–we’re actually a republic) in the history of the world.
I have remarked before that I fear for the future of this nation because of those “sick, lame, lazy and crazy” radical leftists who seem to be gaining political traction in this country for reasons that completely elude me.
As John Adams remarked before, no democracy lasts forever (or words to that effect). And I fear that within a generation or two, our time will have come.
But in the meantime, I give hearty thanks to Christopher Columbus, without whom I might well not be here.
Happy Columbus Day to All!
@”Anonymous”
Once again I have screwed up thanks to this new WordPress “format.” The forgoing reply to Estovir should have appeared under my nom de guerre, DrZee. As should this reply.
I guess that at age 76 I have become a slow learner. I will try again.
Professor Turley,
What else would you call a President that routinely ignores the power of the other two branches of our government? Here is yet another example of Trump’s administration flagrantly ignoring court orders – this time with respect to his attempt to use taxpayer money to pay for his own propaganda.
https://www.washingtonsun.com/whitehouse/trump-taxpayer-funded-ads-propaganda-kept-running-court-order-stop
Biden ignored Supreme Court ruling on Student Loan payments! These student loan payments will cost up to 1 Trillion!! Sure looks like Biden used these as bribes!! (taxpayer money) Get lost ANON!!
President Biden’s Student Loan Scheme Could Cost Taxpayers $1.4 Trillion
BUDGET COMMITTEE May 2024
This is inaccurate. Biden did not “ignore” the Supreme Court ruling. Biden v. Nebraska was a holding that the HEROES Act did not authorize the Biden admin to create sweeping loan-forgiveness.
Biden subsequently pursued alternative avenues for debt relief grounded in completely different legal authorities. For example, one was the Higher Education Act.
Not. The. Same. Thing.
COSTING 1 TRILLION AND ARE BRIBES TO GET VOTES!!! Did you get yours paid off ANON???
A period after every word ANON? Not. The. Same. Thing. LAME!!
Higher Education Act like the Inflation Reduction Act?? ANON??
Both cost the US a Trillion or more each to the debt!! Inflation Reduction Act made inflation worse!! ha ha ha ha ANON!!
ATS – the president does not have the authority to spend money without congressional authorization.
You are correct that Biden looked for other authorities – there are none.
You can find authorities in the budget to repair buildings like the Kennedy center.
You can not find a$2T presidential slush fund.
No, Biden did not ignore the ruling. As soon as the Court ruled that his interpretation of the HEROES Act was wrong, and it could not be used as the basis for cancelling student loans, he stopped doing so, and asked his lawyers to look around for some other legal basis on which he could forgive such loans. When they found one that could be read as authorizing a far more limited program, he initiated one.
That’s how it’s supposed to work. That’s not ignoring the ruling, it’s obeying it.
In exactly the same way, when SCOTUS told Trump that he couldn’t rely on IEEPA to impose tariffs, he stopped those tariffs immediately, and eventually refunded the money collected under them. He also immediately had his lawyers look for some other legal basis on which he could impose tariffs, and they found one, which he is using to this day.
There’s no difference whatsoever between the two cases.
Limited program that spent hundreds of BILLIONS!! ha ha ha Millhouse!!
A phony Biden scheme to get votes!!!
No, it did not spend hundreds of billions.
But how much it did or didn’t spend isn’t the issue. The issue is whether it ignored the Supreme Court’s ruling, and the clear obvious answer is that it did NOT, any more than Trump’s current tariffs ignore the Supreme Court’s ruling striking down the IEEPA tariffs.
Trump is using different laws now. How much Biden spent IS an issue. His massive spending led to 21% inflation and price/cost increases. Biden didn’t cut the loan payments right away.
Look up how much student loans were paid off. Does TDS hurt??
Biden letting in 15-25 million unvetted didn’t break laws??
Biden AZZ KISSER!!!
Did the one’s that got Student Loans paid off send the money back or continue to pay them??? NOPE!!
Tariifs were paid back!!
BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN the 2 cases!!!!!!!!!!
How about the cost of deferred payments without penalty and no interest accrual? Did that cost taxpayers?
Biden ignored the Court ruling and paid off 200 billion in loans. This went on for years- with Biden getting away with paying off loans. The Supreme court can’t enforce the law. Trump paid back the tariffs while Student Loans remained paid!!
HUGE DIFFERENCE!! Look up total amount paid by Biden and how he got around laws and ignored the Supreme Court.
Milhouse.
There is no constitutional or legislative authority creating a $2T presidential slush fund – not for Biden or
Trump. The Heros act claim was absurd – as where all other arguments. SCOTUS is never going to sign off on a president spending 2T without clear congressional authorization.
Trump’s IEEPA claim was also absurd – though not even close to the scale of Biden’s Heros act nonsense.
But Trump’s IEEPA claim was not nearly the reach – there are no authorities for the president to spend $2T without clear congressional authorization. There are atleast 9 different legal authorities passed by congress allowing the president to impose tariffs. There was very little of collected tariffs refunded as the Trump Admin asserted those other authorities. Trump wanted an IEEPA win – because the presidential powers in IEEPA are broad\ and sweeping. I do not think SCOTUS took the IEEPA claim very seriously because Trump could easily impose tariffs under other authorities. At least one act of congress authorizes the president with very few strings to impose tariffs up to 20%, other authorities allow the president to impose retaliatory tariffs matching those of other nations. But these and many other laws granting the president tariff power come with strings and limitations.
Trump lost the Birth Right citizenship case for much the same reason. While I think the plurality opinion is incorrect. Kavanaugh got this correct – the 14th amendment does not give the power to determine who is a citizen to the president. The president likely can bar pregnant women from traveling to the US to give birth.
But if they managed to do so – any potential restriction on their citizenship would have to come from congress.
What there were no PSA’s during the Biden admin ?
WE never had to listen to government funded advertisements lying to us about Covid or masks or vaccines or ….?
Trump’s campaign ads were no PSA’s. It was literally a replay of a former campaign ad paid for by the U.S. government.
Even Republicans are denouncing the ads. Your urge to make excuses for Trump by deflecting to Biden’s actual PSA’s which are legal is hilarious.
Boo hoo X– cry more!!
ROFL
They were PSA’s not campaign adds. They do not mention elections, voting or candidates.
Your feelings are not facts.
Your posts are entirely untrustworthy.
I have not heard a single republican criticize them or even mention them.
Even the left wing press is barely mentioning them.
This is more extreme left wing nonsense.
Biden stood in front of Independence hall With Marines in the images making Nazi references about republicans during an election. All paid for by taxpayers.
It is the left that CONSTANTLY bends or breaks all the rules.
Further Trump does not need Government paid campaign adds
He is touring the country holding rallies everywhere.
And for once the GOP has significantly more money than Democrats.
Beyond that – outside of far left wing nuts such as yourself carping about these adds -have you seen them? Has anyone ?
Your ranting about something that no one is even seeing, that you have not seen.
Your making claims with no evidence based on what you heard from another left wing nut
If you had realevidence insteadof ranting atus all -you would provide it.
Link to a government paid for “campaign add” and point out what part of it actually violates the law?
Not interested in your TDS Nonsense
The sky is not falling.
The republic is not in danger-though France may be – from islamist groups and the left aparently funded by chinese billionaires
the only fascists in the US are on the left – and fortunately at the moment you have no power.
But even if you manage to get a bit -you are so incompetent that it is embarrassing and you will do yourself in
YOU should never forget that YOU re-elected Trump
OT; That is wild! Ukraine just destroyed three crucial data centers in Russia and 99% of all MAGA bots disappeared. WOW.
So most of MAGA was fake. No surprise there. And Elon is…. Upset about it. Thanks Ukraine 👍
???
Ukraine did NOT “just destroy three crucial data centers–the drone attacks have been going on for three days. Catch up, georgie.
???? MAGA bots? Almost all of the destruction was to Yandex, a Russian entity. Suddenly, X becomes Inspector Clouseau reading some more comic books. And all this time we thought X was a bot tester hurling bad comments about Turley at us to gauge the response. Boy, were we fools!
Yandex is Russias equivalent to Google. Their MAGA bot farms. Since they’ve been destroyed MAGA traffic has gone down significantly. Meaning the majority of MAGA commenters are Russian bots.
MAGA sites got pretty quiet after that. Interesting.
From FEBRUARY:
“Billionaire Elon Musk made the final decision to cut off Starlink satellite internet access for Russia after a drone carrying a terminal struck Kyiv’s government district in late January, according to The Atlantic.
“Disabling so-called grey Starlink terminals used by Russian forces began after a series of drone attacks when reports indicated Russia increasingly relied on Starlink for real-time drone control, including attempts to bypass Ukrainian air defence and electronic warfare systems.
newsukraine.rbc.ua/news/last-straw-how-drone-over-kyiv-pushed-musk-1772233760.html
poor george/X. He gets his copy and paste a little mixed up.
Wow, listen to the silence !
No MAGA voices because Russian bots are gone !
Do you ever test your nonsense against reality ?
What MAGA or other posters here have disappeared ?
What MAGA web sites are down ?
ROFL
I thought it was Russia that was proving the no kings bots and the anti-ICE bots and the faux affordability bots
If Ukraine has taken out Russian Data centers – great.
If that has reduced internet bots – great.
Though honestly – how many bots are HERE now ?
None of those here on the right are bots.
Are you a bot ?
When is the last time YOU were influenced by a bot ?
If the answer is never – then why do you care.
All the lunatic conspiracy theories of the past few years have been from the left.
“None of those here on the right are bots.”
90% of MAGA sites saw a drop in right wing “individuals” (bots). There were a lot of those in the right who were bots. It was noticeable enough that everyone noticed.
“All the lunatic conspiracy theories of the past few years have been from the left.”
ROFL! Nope. They have been from Russian bots. That’s why this is a big deal.
So DEMS are now just BOTS??
90% of MAGA sites saw a drop in right wing “individuals”
Bulldust. Name such a site, and a few regular posters who disappeared from it.
He can’t. Because he’s full of it, as usual. Even an Ukrainian IT news organization had to come out and say that it’s false.
https://dev.ua/en/news/yandex-1791797476
ROFL
What “MAGA” poster here have suddenly “disappeared” ?
Please tell me a SINGLE MAGA commenter anywhere that is gone ?
What “MAGA” sites has seen 90% – or ANY drop in commenters or comments ?
You beleive the most absurd nonsense.
BTW a perfectly plausible explanation of YOUR absurd claims – if they were actually true would be that Russian LEFT WING bots stopped posting garbage on right wing sites.
But you are still here, so not likely the case.
Regardless it doesn’t take more than 2 neurons to grasp that your claim is completely absurd.
Funny, while I guess I can see how someone could see Trump as presenting himself like a king, I fail to see how that would distinguish him from an entire litany of past POTUS, most of them Democrats, who clearly aspired to be considered as such, and who did their best to exercise power in a royal manner, exclusive of Constitutional constraints: Biden; Obama; both Bushes; Clinton; and (skipping a few) most certainly LBJ.
Ilhan Omar is being targeted by lawfare from the Trump administration. That seems like a bad thing for all naturalized citizens in America.
It seems like the sort of thing that would happen at the beginning of a neo-Holocaust.
Why doesn’t she “assimilate?” Why does she wear the weird clothes of her homeland and perpetuate the form of government, Islam, of the area in the U.S., which exists under the fundamental law of the Constitution, not the Quran? That is subversive insurrection.
There is a massive amount of Fraud which she is connected to.
In what world is not reasonable to investigate her involvment in that ?
Myriads of congressmen of both parties have been investigated and some found guilty of fraud.
I do not know if Omar committed fraud. Maybe she is just entirely unwittingly surrounded by fraudster, but there is no doubt that actual crimes took place the only question is whether Omar was herself involved.
There i the separate independant issue of whether she herself committed immigration fraud.
That really only matters if she is connected to the other Fraud.
If she is not charged and convicted of entitlements fraud – the other issue will quietly go away.
If however she is convicted of entitlements fraud – then she will possibly be convicted of immigration fraud and deported. But it is incredibly difficult to de-naturalize a US citizen
even one who is a criminal.
Regardless outside the far left Omar is not a sympathetic figure.
There is far more than the reasonable suspicion needed to investigate Omar.
That is not lawfare – that is the rule of law working.
We will all have to see if Omar was complicit in the fraud surrounding her, or just stupid.
Are you actually doubting the evidence of Fraud surrounding her ?
Numerous people close to her have plead guilty to fraud.
I would note the same is true of Gov. Walz- but the connections are worse with respect to Omar.
Trump’s a convicted fraud with a long history of fraud. If Omar’s a fraud, she should cut Trump in.
Trump was not convicted of fraud. He was convicted of “falsifying business records”, a weird law that only exists in NY, and had never before been used in any similar case, where the records in question were his own internal records that were no one else’s concern.
The multiple fraud cases in MN however are genuine classic fraud, and if Omar was involved she belongs in prison.
Please tell me what Fraud Trump was convicted of ?
Fraud has a clear legal meaning that SCOTUS has ruled on many times and that the NY courts have ignored.
Fraud requires false claims that the person making has a duty make truthfully that were relied on by a person to whom that duty was owed to their TANGIBLE harm.
In the Enmoron/james case – which was effectively thrown out by the NY courts – Deuthce Bank testified that they lost nothing. The paperwork that James claimed as evidence explicitly stated DB was required to do their own due dilligence and could not rely on. The legal requirement here is soi ancient it is latin and 2000 years old – caveat emptor. And finally no one outside the left wing nut bubble beleives that Mar-A-Lago is only worth 20M.
The Fraud was by James and enmoron.
With respect to the Merchan case – it never should have gotten to court.
Trump’s business records are private – not public. The only people who relied on them were within the Trump organization. There is absolutely no legal requirement for a a business to even have business records.
You are legally obligated to pay your taxes correctly, but your only duty to anyone regarding business records is to properly pay your taxes.
This is actually centuries old case law. While the state and the IRS can sieze your business records to prove tax fraud – the FRaud is in your TAX RETURN and the Business records are seized to prove you lied on your taxes.
Bragg./Merchan made ZERO claim that Trump did not correctly pay his taxes.
At that point the case was REQUIRED to be dismissed.
There is no law requiring anyone to disclose laisons they may or may not have had with others.
That would violate the 4th amendment.
There is no law requiring the disclosure of NDAs or payments for NDA’s
Again that would violate the 4th amendment.
There is no one who lost tangible property as a result of anything here.
YOU claim Trump lied in his buisness records – even if true – that is lying to himself.
If I hire a hooker, and pay them from my business account – that is no ones business but my own.
If I write on the check it is for consulting or legal fees or machinery – that is NOT FRAUD, and NOT A CRIME.
BUT If I deduct the payment to the hooker as an expense on my taxes – THAT is Fraud. I have a duty to pay the taxes I owe. I have a duty to fill out my tax return truthfully.
There is no duty with respect to your private business records.
All of your alleged fraud cases are not only total nonsense – they are OBVIOUS total nonsense.
We had rushed prosecutions that ignored the law as much of the country watched and correctly concluded YOU were batschiff crazy
Trump was acquitted in Nov 2024 – 77,302,580 people on the largest jury ever assembled found the LEFT guilty of Framing Trump for Fraud.
Huh, that’s not a thing. But if you insist on using that analogy, he’s about to be convicted of failure by the voters this midterm and it shows.
The first generation Somalis have been committing massive Medicaid related fraud and their kids are nothing more than gang bangers.
This may shock you – several Republican senators have committed fraud on a scale that put the half-dozen or so fraud-committing Somalis to shame.
I dare you to name them. You can’t, because they don’t exist.
Would that be Sen. Menedez who is now serving 11yrs in federal prison ? Nope, he is a democrat.
Regardless, though I would love to know what GOP senators you think have actually committed fraud,
still there are certainly fraudsters in congress on both sides of the Aisle. Schiff committed mortgage fraud as an example.
Regardless, vague allegations of fraud by others is not a defense.
Further the Fraud found among people DIRECTLY tied to Omar is over 100M – that is out of potentially 10B in entitlements fraud in MN alone.
Please tell me a single member of congress besides Omar that can be DIRECTLY tied to 100M in fraud ?
Omar is innocent until proven guilty. But as she (and democrats all over) said REPEATEDLY
No one is above the law.
Right now this is an investigation, and a federal judge in DC signed a warant that asserted under oath that there was probable cause that a federal crime had been committed AND that there was probable case that evidence of that crime would be found in Omars DC home.
No matter what Omar has done there is no way she can lose her citizenship or be deported. Even immigration fraud wouldn’t do it.
Once someone is validly a US citizen, that is permanent. It can never be lost involuntarily, no matter what the person does. A naturalized citizen can commit treason, and it will not affect his citizenship. The only way to lose citizenship is by voluntary renunciation.
So what is this thing you hear about called “denaturalization”? It’s a misnomer. Naturalization can’t be revoked, ever, but sometimes a person falsely claims to have been naturalized when they really never were. Perhaps they never even had a ceremony, but just lied and said they had. Or perhaps they did have one, but they obtained approval for it by fraud. Rasmea Odeah, for instance, or John Demjanjuk, lied on their immigration forms when they entered the USA, and lied again on their naturalization forms, so the naturalization they obtained was fraudulent and invalid. Once the government proved that in court, the court recognized the fact that they had never been US citizens, and thus were still not citizens. And therefore they could be deported.
There was another case recently of someone who was born in the USA, but at the time of her birth her family had diplomatic immunity. Her father had been a foreign diplomat; before her birth his country fired him, but the State Department didn’t get around to removing their immunity until after her birth. She argued that since he was fired they no longer had immunity, so she was a US citizen by birth. The government argued, and the court agreed, that diplomatic immunity is granted by the State Department, not the foreign government, and therefore until it revoked the immunity it was still valid, and thus she was not born a citizen.
In Omar’s case there is no allegation that there was anything wrong with her naturalization. There seem to have been major irregularities in her immigration, but she was a child at the time and thus not responsible for them. Her father may have committed immigration fraud to get her into the country, but she didn’t. So if she told the truth as she knew it on her naturalization application the naturalization was valid and can’t be revoked.
But if she’s committed fraud since then, within the statute of limitations, then she can be convicted of that and go to prison.
Milhouse – you are CLOSE to correct.
US Citizenship is EXTREMELY hard to revoke – but there are on average 7 denaturalizations/yr in the US.
There have been numerous high profile denaturalizations of former Nazi’s who lied about being Nazi’s when they entered the US.
More common but less reported are Drug kingpins who seek US citizenship. If you lied about criminal activity BEFORE you became a citizen – your citizenship can be revoked.
Again this is rare but it does happen.
There has been a long standing claim that Omar married her brother to allow him to immigrate to the US.
If proven that is a crime and she could go to jail. But it would not result in her losing her citizenship.
Purportedly she came to the US at 17, but there are claims she was 18. That could pose a problem.
If she was a minor – then even fraud regarding her immigration is irrelevant. And we KNOW there was fraud involved in her immigration. Her father claimed to be fleeing persecution in Somali – but in fact he was part of the govenrment that was doing the persecution. If Omar was 17 at the time – she is not accountable for her fathers false representations. If she was 18 she is an adult and fraud in her immigration paperwork could get her denaturalized.
That is still HIGHLY unlikely – the misrepresentations were by her father not her.
But we shoudl still remember that Ilhan Omar is NOT some freedom fighter – Her father was a general in a brutal regime that fled as that regime collapsed. In Somalia at the time she was Afluent – and her family persecuted the people she claims to represent today.
If one of Goebels children immigrated to the US – Democrats would be trying to get as far from them as possible.
Biden also investigated her finances!! DF ANON!! Lawfare too???
You and entirely missed the quality learing center
Ilhan Omar is sitting in the middle of a massive pit of fraud.
It is possible that she is the only person in that pit not actually guilty of anything – but there is more than reasonable suspicion to investigate.
Denaturalizing a US citizen is just about the most difficult thing in US law. There are only about 7 denturalizations in the entire US each year. Dentaturalization requires proof of fraud in obtaining YOUR citizenship.
Separate from the benefits frauds allegations involving Omar is the allegation that she secured the immigration of someone else through fraud – that is a crime if proven, but it is not fraud in your own immigration or naturalization.
Regardless there are perfectly legitimate reasons to investigate Omar.
There are a long long list of US representatives of both parties who have been engaged in fraud in the past.
Omar has plenty of company there.
It doesn’t require denaturalization. She can be deported to some random country under the cloak of secrecy and not allowed to return. There are some countries where she could be murdered in a week, ones with no diplomatic ties to the US so no consulate to turn to.
Look at Trump vs. the DC golf course – putting up a notice at 4:45 on Friday for cutting down trees on Saturday and Sunday, in spite of a court order that any cutting be given advance and sufficient notice.
As her original fraudulent immigration claims are well beyond the Statute of Limitations, the search was for subsequent federal and banking documents that perpetuated the original fraud. Should they exist, I would believe she could be imprisoned a nd/or stripped of her citizenship. Seems uncharted waters and for such a deserving anti American anti White Christian Pig.
There is no statute of limitations on denaturalization for fraudulent immigration claims.
If YOUR immigration was fraudulent – and the government can prove that you can be denaturalized and deported.
If you participated in immigration fraud you can be charged criminally and prosecuted – but that DOES have a statute of limitations.
We do NOT know why Omar’s home was searched – only that a warrant requires an alleged federal crime. We just know that HIS participated in the search, and that several outlets claim it was immigration related.
Funny, according to the prior ICE head it does.
Elections are almost always a choice of lesser evils. There is little good to say about the Democrats except that they will wreck America more slowly. Though I voted thrice for Trump, his betrayal on war promises is both unforgiveable and potentially deadly for our nation. He must be punished.
Also the whole immigration thing has gone too far. It’s one thing to deport illegals, great. It’s wholly another to cancel – or try to cancel– who areas of law approved by Congress such as asylum, by adminstrative policy fiat. THat is wrong and unconstitutional. It’s also bogus to gin up a bunch of phony denaturalizations, cancellations of green cards, foot dragging on green card review and approval, making a mountain of a molehil on trivial paperwork mistakes– talk to immigration lawyers and you will find out how bogus this whole thing has become under the auspices of the tyrannical Stephen Miller the “immigration czar” who irionically is a product of Jewish grandparents who came as refugees to America fleeing hte third reich
ANON
anon – I find it hard to beleive that you actually voted for Trump twice.
Further NO ONE’s assylum is being canceled. TPS is not assylum – it is Temporary that is what the T means.
Nor is TPS specifically authorized by congress – it is much like Obama’s policy regarding the “dreamers” – there is no such thing in law. It is debatable if reamer status or TPS are even legitimate.
Regardless TPS is given by the president – usually in response to a natural disaster – again it is NOT assylum.
It is a temporary response to what is supposed to be a temporary problem in these peoples country of origen.
Further it is granted for temporary humanitarian and economic reasons – Assylum is NEVER granted for humanitarian and economic reasons. Assylum is granted for political reasons – you have a legitimate reason to beleive the government in your country of origen wants to kill you.
TPS is granted by administrative fiat and taken away by administrative fiat – that is precisely why the courts ruled in favor of Trump. Had congress grants these people assylum – Trump would not be able to do anything about it.
The US grants about 22,000 assylum requests a year – it rejects 95% of all assylum requests.
Assylum is extremely hard to get.
Denturalization is extremely difficult – While the president can push DOJ to seek more denaturalizations – denaturalization requires proof that the person being denaturalized committed fraud in order to get their citizenship. Most denturalizations involve drug dealers who lied about their involvement with drug dealing when they applied for a green card.
While denaturalization is extremely hard – denying visa’s is easy – there is no right to a visa. canceling visa’s is easy.
Cancelling green cards is harder – some due process is required – but far less is required than for denaturalization and the standard of proof is far far lower.
You say we should talk to immigration lawyers – that would be the same lawyers that pi$$ed all over Obama before Trump came down the escalator ?
I have a great deal of respect for immigration lawyers – just as I do for defense attorney’s and those who defend terrorists at Guantanamo. My respect for them does NOT mean that I beleive everything they say about their clients or the system. Everyone should have an attorney that fights like h311 for them and beleives in their cause.
But that does not mean everyone with a lawyer that fights like h311 for them should win their cases.
I have enormous empathy for immigrants – legal or otherwise. I would personally allow far more legal immiration into this country.
But I also beleive in the rule of law.
To get the immigration system I want I am required to get congress to change the law. They have not.
Until they do so – we MUST follow the law we have. Anything else is lawless and destructive of society.
As an nation through congress in bipartisan laws we have decided on our immigration law.
That is the law that Trump is enforcing.
If you are not here legally – you are subject to deportation.
If you lied in a way that would have precluded immigration or citizenship to obtain citizenship the law allows you to be denaturalized. That is incredibly rare and you will get massive due process – a denaturlization case takes years in court
Revoking a green card is easier – but you are entitled to significant due process. You will get to challenge the governments claims and the government must prove those claims as more likely true than not.
Revoking a visa is easier still – but you do get a small amount of due process.
Being denied a visa or an extension entitles you to almost no due process.
Deportation if you are here illegally merely requires the government proving – to a relatively low standard that you are not in the US legally. You are generally entitled to a Habeus challenge – but Habeaus is a civil action and the illegal is the plantiff – the burden of proof is on them. They will have ALREADY lost where the burden of proof was on the government.
All of the above is an overview of US immigration law. Law predating Trump by decades.
Trump did not create that law.
And SCOTUS is affirming Trump’s power to enforce that law – because none of this is new, or unconstitutional or unlawful.
Nor is TPS specifically authorized by congress
John, that is not true. TPS was created by Immigration Act of 1990, which authorizes the Attorney General to grant TPS on a country-by-country basis. In 2003 Congress transferred this authority to the Secretary of Homeland Security.
It is still temporary and it is still a decision made by the executive and therefore revokable by the executive.
Congress did not give TPS status to Haitians as an example – if it had it would be hard or impossible for the president to remove that status
This was a very easy case for SCOTUS – anythign that one president can do on purely presidential authrity another can undo.
I would also note with respect to the laws you cite – ALL EXECUTIVE POWER IS PRESIDENTIAL POWER.
Congress can not give the AG or DHS a power without making that a presidential power.
You can be opposed to the conflict in Iran if you wish.
But Trump did not promise no wars. He promissed no forever wars.
I would suggest checking out Trump’s platform for 2024 – Agenda 47 – he explicityly promised a strong military defending US interests accross the globe.
Every US president since Carter has sworn that Iran will never get a nuclear weapon. Iran is a signatory on the non-proliferation agreement – they are barred from nuclear weapons by international treaty that they agreed to.
It has been official US foreign policy since 1979 that Iran would never be allowed to get a nuclear weapon.
Trump has done what every US president promised to do – make sure that Iran does not get a nuclear weapon.
You are perfectly free to beleive that is bad policy – but it is not Trump’s policy it is 50 years of US foreign policy.
You are free to beleive this conflict will turn into a forever war. I personally doubt that. I think most americans hope that is not the case. It is near certain this war will end soon enough with US victory in some form. When it does most everyone will claim they supported it from the begining.
“But Trump did not promise no wars. He promissed no forever wars.”
Actually he did promise no forever wars and no new wars. Everyone knows that, even Republicans.
In his 2024 victory speech Trump explicitly stated in his address: “I’m not going to start a war. I’m going to stop wars.”
On the campaign trail he explicitly said, “You’ll never have a war with our victory in November… I will not send you to fight and die in stupid foreign wars that never end.”
Even the executive branch’s official documentation highlights this explicit mandate, formally stating that one of the president’s top priorities is “putting a stop to endless wars.”
Clearly he lied and so did you.
George or or whoever it is,
what citizens or troops did Trump “send to fight and die in stupid foreign wars that never end.???”
X also LIED about Ukraine’s wiping out of Russian bots, which were primarily “MAGA bots”
(said X/george)
Here’s the truth: “As we read in the news this morning, Cloudflare Radar has detected a sudden and critical drop in automated bot traffic coming out of Russian tech giant Yandex’s networks.According to measurements, Yandex bot traffic activity fell to a meager 0,4% of its previous peak on Sunday…It should be emphasized here that this drop concerns only one autonomous system (ASN) — 13238, which belongs to Yandex.
“A majority of Yandex’s bots were from Russia.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yandex
Poor George. Doesn;t even understand what he copies and pastes.
The US navy was created nearly 250 years ago specifically to fight piracy in the mid-east. various sheikdoms in that era were doing exactly as Iran is trying with the straits of Hormuz – they were charging for passage and sinking or capturing those who refused.
The british paid. The french paid, Europe paid.
The US refused to pay built a navy and went to war over interfering with free trade.
This is the purpose for which our navy was originally created almost 250 years ago.
Fearing a humiliating midterm defeat in Texas, on Monday a desperate Donald J. Trump attempted to return the state to Mexico.
Amid news that Texas would no longer be a part of the US, spontaneous celebrations broke out on the streets of Austin.
Meanwhile, the populations of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and New Mexico demanded that a new border wall be built to keep Texans out of their states, “and make Texas pay for it,” they said.
In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum said she would accept the return of Texas “as long as it doesn’t include Paxton and Abbott.”
Is this supposed to be funny? Because it isn’t. It’s just stupid.
Gang colors. When the Democrats win again, he will be rewarded for his attempted hit job.
Former Special Counsels are allowed to do political things. Especially Smith who knows more about Trump’s crimes than anyone else.
Smith testified that he is not biased against Trump. A few days later he proved that he perjured himself. He should be charged with perjury and contempt of Congress.
Perjury is an extremely narrow crime.
All lies under oath are not perjury.
Misrepresenting your intentions is just not going to get a perjury charge – not before congress, not in court.
False statements under oath must meet several requirements to be perjury – one of those is that they must be material, another is that they must mislead proceedings in a way to wastes time and effort. The british have a crime of wasting police time. Perjury has a similar requirement.
Smith’s political bias is not LEGALLY relevant.
The closest example of perjury by Smith is that he told the house in 2023 that he had not subpeonad records of members of congress. That was false – he had actually requested large numbers of congressional subpeonas a few months earlier, it is virtually impossible that he was unaware of that.
That was almost certainly an intentional misrepresentation and it resulted in month of effort to discover.
No they are not. SC’s are appointed to investigate alleged crimes. They have NO political role.
If Smith knows more about Trump’s crimes than anyone – then you lose the argument.
Smith came up with Nothing – NADA, zip, zilch.
Frankly his congressional testimony was absurdly stupid and partisan.
He claimed that he had to subpeona records illegally and unconstitutionally because Trump would destory them or otherwise obstruct justice.
How Does a FORMER president destroy records in the national archives, AT&T and Verizon ?
I do not think Smith is stupid enough to beleive what he said – but He beleive YOU are.
And he appears to be right.
Smith could have gotten the records he was after perfectly legally and constitutionally – but that would have required notifying Congress that he was going after the records of congressmen.
This was a lawless witch hunt.
Most of you left wing nuts have not bothered to examine Smith’s absurd legal theory regarding the allegedly classified documents at MAL.
But that theory is critically important – it exposes how weak the case was.
Cannon REPEATEDLY asked Smith and his attornies if they were alleging that Trump illegally acquired the documents. i.e. Trump Stole them. WHY ? Because if Smith claimed Trump STOLE the documents – that means he removed them intentionally and that means they ceased to be classified the moment Trump as president removed them.
Smith’s legal theory was that these documents were accidentally or inadvertently removed but that Trump DELIBERATELY refused to return them.
This too is a completely absurd claim – but it is a claim that threads the legal needle well enough to avoid being dismissed by the judge, and Smith hoped would get him to a jury verdict.
Regardless Smith’s case was entirely politically motivated lawfare that 77M people in 2024 grasp was lawless garbage and cast the FINAL verdict on left wing nut lawfare against Trump.
YOU lost infront of the largest grand jury ever to exist.
Why is WordPress interdicting?
Why is WordPress censoring speech?
The disciples really need affirmation as Trump’s polling numbers keep swirling the drain and Democrats make gains. Turley tries to make the case that Jack Smith was “out to get Trump at any cost”–as if Trump never did: 1. start an insurrection because his fragile ego couldn’t handle the fact that more Americans voted for Biden than for him; or 2. that Trump did not steal classified documents. Turley fails to address either of these matters, but, like all MAGA pundits, he attacks the person going after Trump. Was the Biden DOJ just supposed to ignore the insurrection and the death of Officer Siknik, who died in the line of duty after a Trump supporter doused him with a chemical spray that brought on two strokes. And, the “Comey moment” is pathetic–never let an opportunity pass by to attack one of Trump’s perceived enemies.
Wearing a “No Kings” t-shirt does NOT prove that Jack Smith is biased–you MAGAs keep defending Alito even though he hung a US flag upside down (which is supposed to be a sign of distress) and flew a pro-Trump evergreen flag at his vacation home–claiming that these things didn’t prove bias–although his rulings do. Every American has their own biases, and most of us are vehemently opposed to Trump, to his policies and his handling of everything—presumably, including judges–and for good reason—because everything Trump does is to feed his ego, to push the limits of authority and to get his way.
Turley talks about Smith “seizing phone records”–but the only “records” that were seized were those that tracked the date, time and number of calls placed and received up to the time of the insurrection–the contents of the calls were not sought or obtained–and the reason was valid–to investigate the extent of collusion that may have occurred between Trump and syncophantic members of Congress. Today, Trump’s flunky FBI served a warrant on Ilhan Omar’s home and went through her possessions–WHY? What crime has she committed? Did SHE start an insurrection based on a lie, like Trump did? Did SHE falsify Electoral College documents or steal classified documents and lie about returning them?
Turley claims that Jack Smith has some alleged history of court “failures” from which he didn’t learn any lessons, and then cites his own MAGA-pundit column as support. However, according to “Forbes”, Trump has lost at least 60% of the lawsuits filed in federal court over his efforts to test the limits of presidential power, to impose his will on the rest of us and abuse the power he lied to get. Jack Smith got a 37-count indictment against Trump for stealing classified documents. As to the insurrection, Trump not only got his fans to attack the Capitol, but he got supporters to falsify Electoral College documents, all without any evidence. Should this conduct go unpunished?
“Only “records” that were seized were those that tracked the date, time and number of calls placed and received up to the time of the insurrection” ONLY?? No problem with that ANON?????????
What A Bozo ANON!! May the government spy on YOU!!!
What a pack of lies.
1. There was no insurrection.
2. Brian Sicknick did not die in the line of duty. He died of completely natural causes, and his state funeral was a deliberate political fraud for the purpose of stirring up hatred of Trump and his supporters, i.e. a blood libel. There is no basis whatsoever for your bizarre claim that pepper spray caused his strokes. Many people are sprayed with pepper spray every year, and some of them later go on to have strokes, but no one ever claims the strokes were caused by the pepper spray.
3. Alito has never flown any flags. His wife likes to fly flags. She flew a distress flag after a dispute with a nasty neighbor. And she flew a Pine Tree flag, which is a historical American patriotic flag that has nothing to do with politics. In any case, what flags she chooses to fly has nothing to do with him.
4. A “no kings” T-shirt is a direct attack on Trump, which means that when Smith swore just a few days earlier that he had no bias against Trump he was lying.
5. Omar is being investigated for serious crimes. A judge signed a warrant, meaning that s/he had been shown probable cause that evidence of a crime would be found at Omar’s residence. She is not above the law. Smith’s search of Trump’s residence, however, had no legal basis and was completely political, as evidenced by the fact that even the FBI was against it and protested against having to conduct the search.
Trump did not steal classified documents.
Cannon pressed SC attornies on this repeatedly Smith and the SC’;s office NEVER alleged that Trump “stole” classified documents.
Had they done so the case would have been immediately dissmissed as a matter of LAW.
The president can not “steal” classified documents. If Trump while president INTENTIONALLY removed classified documents from the federal government – they are declassified and the case ends instantly.
Smith had to construct this absurd theory that Trump ACCIDENTALLY removed classified documents.
Because ANY intentional act on the part of a president declassifies them. But then INTENTIONALLY refused to return them.
It is this kind of absurdity that is why the FBI REFUSED to sign off on warrants for MAL.
Trump was cooperating with the FBI right up until the MAL search. The FBI had been told verbally by Trump and in writing that they could come to MAL whenever they wanted and go through the documents and take anything they thought was classified. This is incredibly well documented.
Rassmussen had Trump at 45% just a few days ago – he has been bouncing between 47% and 41% for the entirety of 2026 There is absolutely no trend in Trump support.
Conversely it is democrats approval that is in the tank. There is no consequential Democrat with an aproval over 30.
The democratic part approval rate makes Trump look beloved.
Was Smith out to get Trump at all costs – absolutely – as were YOU and virtually all democrats.
People understood that and voted you out of power as dangerous in 2024.
YOU lost this entire argument in Nov. 2024. When the largest grand jury in history acquitted Trump and indicted democrats.
Almost no one beleives that Biden got 10M more votes than ANY US presidential candidate EVER. Not Obama, Not Clinton, Not Trump, Not Harris.
Biden was demented at the time – and had been for atleast 5 years. He was never popular, he was never charasmatic. He was essentially annointed by the DNC because it was Obvious that the other candidates were so far left they would be massacred. Biden was Democrats ONLY hope in 2020 and a poor one at that.
The claim that Trump was unpopular is deeply flawed.
Trump received 62,984,828 votes in 2016, 74,223,975 in 2020, and 77302580 in 2024.
12M MORE people voted for Trump in 2020 when he lost than in 2016 when he won.
But magically Biden – a demented old lackluster white man who was not charasmatic or apealing in anyway got 15M more votes that Hillary.
We are supposed to beleive that 27M more people voted in 2020 that in 2016 AND that 10M LESS people voted in 2024.
Yet during this entire period – Republicans added MORE voter registrations than Democrats.
We will have to see what happens in 2026 – maybe Democrats will be lucky and the polls will be correct for once.
But from 2024 to 2026 – Republicans have registered significantly more voters than democrats.
Contra your claims – Trump is not unpopular, Republicans are not unpopular – but democrats are unpopular.
“Was the Biden DOJ just supposed to ignore the insurrection”
Yes, the Biden administration is supposed to ignore stupid and idiotic claims that are obviously false.
There is a series of videos on Youtube now analyhzing if Europe could invade the US if the US govenrnment did absolutely nothing and ONLY US citizens and privately held arms were used to fight Europe.
And the conclusion is a 70% chance that the 100M registered gun owners and the 500M registered guns and the 1B in ammo in the US could successfully repell a european invasion of the US.
While this video is tongue in cheek it points out to all but left wing nut morons there was no “insurrection”
Not a single J6er showed up at the capital with a firearm. NOT ONE.
Even a handlful of AR-15’s would have produced a radically different outcome.
2000 armed protestors would have EASILY forced Congress to vote not to certify the election and to conduct an inquiry.
All you do by repeating the “insurrection” nonsense is prove how big a liars you are.
Arson is a part of nearly every left wing “protest”.
If Alishi Babbit had a handgun like Alex Pretti – no one would be questioning her killing.
But NO J6er had firearms.
No Siknik did not die in the line of duty. He was not injured at the capital and died much later
of two strokes. He was not injured on J6 – he was pepper sprayed – and as likely by the CP as by protestors.
Watch the actual Video – BEFORE there was any unrest the CP lobbed a Tear Gass grenade into their own forces and then a 2nd one into a peaceful crowd. They Tear Gassed themselves.
Regardless if peperspray causes strokes then it is a deadly weapon and the police may not use it to control peaceful crowds.
Do you think before you post this nonsense ?
“Wearing a “No Kings” t-shirt does NOT prove that Jack Smith is biased”
Of course it does. It also makes a prima fascia case that he is being influenced by the CCP.
Signman and the CCP have been funding the no kings protests, the ICE protests and the violent riots currently in France.
Smith would be a total moron if he does not know this.
Most of the rulling you claim are biased are plain readings of the law and constitution and have the agreement of 6, 7 8 and often 9 other justices.
“most of us are vehemently opposed to Trump”
Nope. Trump would beat Harris today by larger margins than in 2024.
However unpopular you think Trump is – the left is even more unpopular.
“to his policies”
Which policies ? almost 80% of americans support the mass deportation of criminals – like the the one shot in NYC trying to ram ICE officers recently. 56% of americans support deporting ALL illegal immigrants – up from 53% in 2025.
By supermajorities americans want secure borders, far trade, secure elections and voter ID.
What Trump policies is it that you think most people oppose ?
” Alito even though he hung a US flag upside down”
Alitos wife did that – regardless there is nothing wrong with that.
By pro-trump evergreen flag – you mean the Maine flag ? Or the Montana flag ? Or the Vermont flag ?
Regardless your so called MAGA flag is the revolutionary war “appeal to heaven” flag.
You actually have a problem with that ?
Presidents appoint federal judges who must be confirmed by the senate. After that they are judges for life.
There are more left wing nut judges on the bench than conservatives – and yet it is the left that keeps losing.
Absolutely Trump has a huge ego.
All presidents do. All politicians do – Ilhan Omar has a massive ego.
Having a huge ego is not a crime.
Mother Theresa is not going to run for office much less get elected.
“Turley talks about Smith “seizing phone records””
Because doing so viuolates the constitution explicitly and is separately a federal crime.
It is a violation of the speech and debate clause of the constitution.
It is irrelevant what is in the records – though the Supreme Court has already ruled that accessing such records requires a warrant, and when they are of members of congress doing so requires explicit notification of an permission from congress.
The contents of the records are irrelevant. You may not subpeona the communications records of congressmen without the permission of congress. It is illegal. It is a federal crime.
Smith chose to ignore that.
The Warrant for Ilhan Omar’s home was a WARRANT – not a subpeona. It was signed off on by a DC judge,
it does not include hedr communications as a member of congress.
“What crime has she committed?”
Omar is presumed innocent.
But there is plenty of evidence that
she commited immigration fraud regarding her family members.
That she participated in entitlements fraud.
There was sufficient evidence for a DC Judge – there are almost no MAGA judges on the DC courts, to sign off on a warrant.
No one flasified electoral college documents – this was always an idiotic anbd absurd claim.
Not only have all such cases been dropped – but in many cases the states have been forced to pay defendants legal fees.
Long long ago the US supreme court established that you challenge an election in congress by offering an alternate slate of electors. While this has only happened rarely – it has happened several times before – including VP Nixon accepting the HI alternate slate in the 1960 election that resulted in JFK winning the election.
Everything you do not like is not a crime. Everyone who disagrees with you is not a criminal.
There is some evidence out there that Omar falsified immigration documents for her brother.
The standard for the constitutionality of a presidents conduct is the FINAL outcome of cases.
If Trump has lost 60% of his cases – but prevailed in the appeals courts or SCOTUS most of the time that means he has WON nearly all his cases.
His track record is better than most presidents.
Just to clarify again – Smith did not charge Trump with stealing classified documents.
Had he done so he would have lost immediately as a matter of law.
Judge Cannon constantly asked SC attornies if they were claiming the documents were stolen.
She did so because that claim changes the entitre case into a question of law that the Judge decides rather than one of Fact to go to a jury.
Constitutionally the president CAN NOT steal classified documents.
Case over.
Smith’s absurd theory is that Trump “accidentally” took classified documents to MAL – his entire case RQUIRES that taking them was accidental. The moment he claims it was intentional the documents are declassified as a matter of law and the case ends.
Smith’s claim was the documents were removed accidentally but intentionally not returned.
That is the ONLY claim he could make that would not result in immediate dismissal. Even had Trump not gotten Cannon, any claim that the documents were removed intentionally would end up at the supreme court if lower courts did not dismiss it where it would likely be dismissed 9-0
You should always pay attention to the ACTUAL legal claims in a case.
Not the popular garbage. Often that exposes the flaws in the cases.
Jack Smith wearing a “No Kings” T-shirt to a sociommunists (sō sē äm yə nists) “Power to the People Fest” is signature significant.
Signature Significance: Signature significance posits that a single act can be so remarkable that it has predictive and analytical value, and should not be dismissed as statistically insignificant.
Steve Witherspoon, you’re making zero sense. Nobody’s cares whether Smith wears a t-shirt expressing a political view as a private citizen. He’s not on the job prosecuting Trump. So what is the issue?
It’s just professor Turley yanking your chain for some gratuitous rage. Predictably you fell for it.
X wrote, “Nobody’s cares whether Smith wears a t-shirt expressing a political view as a private citizen. He’s not on the job prosecuting Trump. So what is the issue?”
He is “expressing a political view as a private citizen”; is that really the limit to your critical thinking?
I think you just opened your mouth to change socks.
Consider the following:
A New York City prosecutor wears a pointed white hood at a Klu Klux Klan meeting. Does that signature significant action shine enough light on the obvious anti-black bias of the prosecutor to go back and do a serious review all of the cases where he prosecuted a black person to check for bias? Could he be just “expressing a view as a private citizen” and that would never bias his ability to fairly prosecute black people.
If you say no to my question, then you’re a moron.
X the question is whether as a prosecutor he was following the law or following political biases.
Absolutely Smith is entitled to express his political views.
But he is NOT entitled to be a special counsel if he has prejudged the case.
If Turley is stoking gratuitous right wing rage he is doing a poor job.
Brain Thomphson, Charlie Kirk – were assassinated by the left.
Kavanaugh and Trump endured multiple failed assassination attempts by the left.
If Democrats actually do well in November it will ONLY be because MAGA failed to show up to vote.
Republicans registered voters outnumber democrats in every single swing state.
In many cases significantly. Republicans have been gaining on democrats in every single cycle for the past 2 decades. If republicans actually become angry enough to vote – democrats will be wiped out.
Smith and the likes are the reason we have disbarments. Why he still holds a license?
Trump is doing his own version of “bread and circuses” by wanting to execute someone by firing squad.
He thinks Americans are as manipulable as Romans by gimicky spectacles. He does have experience with professional wrestling. Why can’t he just govern like a normal president?
It was Hegseth’s idea, and Trump may nix it, according to the New Republic.
<i>Why can’t he just govern like a normal president?<?i>
Anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the last decade is aware that nothing about Trump is “normal.” And what is your definition of a normal president? Advanced dementia, can’t find his way off an empty stage, can’t form a coherent English sentence, uses autopen to grant blanket pardons, and figure-heads an administration run by a shadowy cabal of left-wing extremists?
Four conspirators to the Lincoln assassination were hanged within three months and that was quite and inarguably normal.
True
They were PUBLICLY hanged
“Four conspirators to the Lincoln assassination were hanged within three months.”
That was quite and inarguably normal.
That was quite and inarguably normal.
Four conspirators to the Lincoln assassination were hanged within three months and that was quite and inarguably normal.
AI Overview
General Dwight D. Eisenhower authorized the execution of Private Eddie Slovik, who was shot by a military firing squad on January 31, 1945, in France.
Well, lethal injection is not the way to go as seen recently, so I am good with a firing squad…
The only way this firing squad fails is if they find a bunch of Thomas Crooks…
Speaking of “No Kings,” here’s a list of communist wannabe “Kings” and treasonous subversives, seditionists, insurrectionists, and criminal rebels who have yet to be brought to justice:

Professor Turley: “Smith failed when Trump chose to run despite the lawfare, and he failed again when Trump handily won the election.” In 2024 174 million Americans were registered to vote and Trump got only 77,302, 580 or 44.43% of the eligible vote (VAP). Actively and passively 55.37% of the VAP voted against Trump. Trump ‘handily winning the election?’ Some ‘mandate?’ I don’t think so, just a real good example of why in a day and time when votes are more readily counted and certified electronically that the electoral college should be abolished, and to encourage more voting age population participation.
That is EXACTLY why the electoral college was created. It was to prevent a handful of States with the majority population from mandating a single party self serving rule. Where would America stand had Harris won? Open borders, unvetted criminals, Israel abandoned to the Muslim hordes. Make no mistake, a fight for the nation you want, a fight you will get and lose.
It was to prevent a
handful of States with themajority population frommandating a single party self serving rulewinning an election.Would you have California and New York decide the President in every election? Of course you would, mob rule.
Excuse me, my suggestion to abolish the Electoral College seems to have distracted from my main point. With such a poor voter turnout neither Trump nor Harris (if winning) could claim to have any kind of a “mandate,” for anything. As to “a fight for the nation you [I] want,” starting with the US FDA in October of 2005, in the midst of multiple epidemics of cheaply and easily avoided chronic diseases, I’ve fought thousands of times for as natural, pure and safe a commercial American food supply as possible. Simply put, if Trump were half as smart as he pretends (and you want him) to be, he might have extended a few million American lives and cut the national healthcare bill in half by now; MAHA.
CGS poor voter turnout is the sign of a peaceful stable and uncontroversial government where elections do not matter because the law and constitution are followed.
Historically nations with high voter turnout are unstable.
CGS – Trillions have been spent trying to extend human life.
Three things – antiseptics, anti-biotics and IV fluids have brought life expectancies everywhere they were available to nearly 80.
NOTHING we have come up with since has had significant impact on life expectance
If you are expecting anything to extend the lives of a few million people – you are asking for a miracle that is well outside the powers of any president.
John say – first, I would argue with you that the majority of Americans are fed-up with bad governance (both major parties) and don’t vote out of their frustration that conditions are worsening, not improving. As to the increased life expectancy you added, I’m again/still free of any regular prescription treatments at age 82 despite battling mainstream medicine’s ignorance and incompetence as an increasingly aware adult for 62 years and counting, FDA approved food poisoning (e.g., soy, tBHQ and added MSG, minimally) for forty-five years and counting and a number of costly medical errors resultant therefrom (both). The single greatest killer of Americans of all times is the US FDA/toxic pseudo-foods; I estimate 30 plus million just since their approval of the expanded use of added MSG in 1980. The quote above is followed by this sentence: “But Smith’s obsession was so consuming that he was willing to try Trump right up to Inauguration Day.” Professor Turley in these two sentences could have done a better job of accurately describing the situation. First, Trump chose to run before Smith was appointed. Second, Smith failed because Trump won against Harris? Third, Smith clearly was winding up his investigation after the election — he moved to dismiss the J6 case on November 25, submitted his final report to Garland on January 7, and resigned on January 10.
That’s about the most blatantly dishonest use of statistics a person can come up with. Trump got 49.8% of the popular vote. Your suggestion that 55.37% voted against him is complete and total BS. Trump also won <strong>all seven swing states</strong> and 58% of the electoral college vote. That last figure is particularly significant because all presidential campaigns are aimed at one thing and one thing only: maximizing their electoral college vote. Popular votes are irrelevant because that’s not what candidates design their campagins arond.
Maybe if the Dems had allowed an actual vote for their POTUS candidate, they would have fared better. Instead, they crowned a queen instead of letting her run in a primary, and she was the least intelligent or politically talented politician on the Dem side, The only Dem dumber and less talented than her was Walz, whom they foolishly picked over the much more popular and more talented Josh Shapiro for the VP slot – obviously because Shapiro is Jewish, which is a disqualifier for Dems nowadays.
Why did Smith fail when Trump won? Smith had no goal of preventing Trump from winning.
Yes, he did. That was the entire point of his fraudulent “investigation”.
