Below is my column in the New York Post on the growing attacks on Haley Stevens for daring to oppose Abdul El-Sayed as anti-Semitic. The response is all too familiar to Republicans. She has been denounced as mentally unstable and a danger to others in the party.
Here is the column:
Haley Stevens is a dangerous woman. That message is echoing across liberal cable stations and websites. Only recently embraced as the best candidate for the Michigan Senate nomination, Stevens is now being portrayed as unstable and menacing by her self-described friends. Other Democrats launched into sexist attacks or declared her a “traitor” that should be expelled from the party.
Haley Stevens has the misfortune of now being an object lesson for anyone who stands against the far left. They are going to “hoist the wretch” for all to see to deter anyone else standing in the way of the mob. She will not be alone.
As soon as the House flipped, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), the expected chair of the House Oversight Committee, posted a two-word message: “Lawyer up.” Rage politics has little room for dissent or compromise. Indeed, with Stevens, the party seemed to become a collection of Madam Defarges knitting names into the list of the walking dead.
After she declared that she would split her ticket and vote for Mike Rogers over Abdul El-Sayed, Democrats across the country declared her mentally ill. Some used the attack literally, feigning deep concern over her safety — the way that you describe a friend found raving on the subway about being probed by aliens.
Lawyer George Conway encouraged her to check into a mental facility immediately. He is, after all, a Juris Doctor.
Rep. Debbie Dingell (D., Md.) explained to CNN in the tone of an intervention that “I have been worried about her all last week. She’s a human being.”
Former Republican Bill Kristol was more direct that Stevens “seems to have had some kind of breakdown or something.”
Zeteo editor-in-chief Mehdi Hasan said that Stevens is “clearly a disturbed, deranged, dishonest woman.”
The left often portrays Republicans as mentally ill, from Barry Goldwater to Donald Trump. Liberal psychiatrists often supply the patina of medical authority. Indeed, after Goldwater was falsely portrayed as mentally unstable in his presidential run, the American Psychiatric Association adopted the “Goldwater Rule” to bar doctors from making such unethical diagnoses of individuals without evaluating them.
The rule was violated during the first presidential run of Donald Trump when he was also declared mentally ill by psychiatrists.
It is a tactic made infamous by the Soviets, who invented conditions such as “sluggish schizophrenia” to lock up dissidents in mental hospitals. Nikita Khrushchev explained that mental illness was the only plausible explanation for anyone who opposed communism.
From the perspective of many politicians, Stevens must be mentally ill to risk everything for mere principle. Establishment politicians have caved to the far-left mob in promising to pack the Supreme Court and calling the defense of our constitutional institutions as mere “nostalgia” or dangerous “incrementalism.” In such company, Stevens looks like an escapee from St. Elizabeths Hospital for the criminally insane.
Other Democrats are turning to sexist attacks, including Democratic strategist James Carville who described her as a “used condom.” Others claimed that she was simply under the influence of her fiancé, Jason Turkish.
Susan Wild, a former Pennsylvania representative suggested that Stevens was just doing what her boyfriend told her to do. She wrote, “All I can say is that any woman who abandons her friends when a new guy comes along is no friend at all.” Journalist Ray Wert said that Steven’s voice “more often than not… is now her fiancé.”
This sexist claim has long been denounced by many on the left as the idea that a professional woman could not reach such decisions on their own.
Stevens notably only made this decision after El-Sayed refused to denounce an anti-Semitic commercial that was supporting his candidacy while arguing that Jews were taking money from Michigan families for food. Not only did El-Sayed tell Stevens not to attend a rally, but in his final campaign speech, he echoed the same basic claim that money was going to Israel rather than feeding Michigan families.
Whether she is insane or just a brainless woman or just a “traitor,” Democrats are calling for her expulsion from the Democratic caucus.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., ominously suggested to POLITICO that action would be taken for “her terrible decision” in which she “isolated herself from the House Democratic caucus. We will have a discussion about appropriate next steps upon our return.”
In higher education, this is all too familiar. Universities have long had a groupthink culture with little tolerance for dissent.
The attacks on Stevens expose the sheer hypocrisy of the “big tent” claims of the Democratic Party. Stevens challenged those very Democrats, like Jeffries, to support the claim. He responded by suggesting that she may be formally expelled for the sin of opposing one candidate over what she viewed as anti-Semitic views.
The result is an entire party that has become a version of Lord of the Flies where children become so deranged by groupthink that they chase a child deemed an outsider around an island to try to kill him. What is missing is the single voice of “Simon”: “Maybe there is a beast… maybe it’s only us.”…

A minority of Democrats – not the broad-brush accusation that conservatives need to be using right now.
I suppose that brush is the only tool left considering the damage the conservatives have done to the economy, to the US ability to cooperate with other nations, and the terrible stance on wars in Gaza, the West Bank, Iran, and Ukraine.
As I understand it, Steven’s sudden support/vote for Mike Rogers resulted in the largest single-day donations to Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign.
>”.. . the US ability to cooperate with other nations”
Fwiw, Russian RM Lavrov has recently described the US as ‘agreement incapable’ . .. and that can’t be a good thing!
In what world do you think that a sudden inrush of political donations to an anti-semite is a good thing ?
All you have done is proven that the problem stevens called out is bigger than El Sayed himselfe.
With respect to Lavrov – make up you mind – Is Trump a russian pupet or not ?
Regardless in what world do left wing nuts – or really anyone else put any weight on the comments of Russian diplomats ?
A Ukraine peace deal is going to be hard – and it will actually get even harder the more Russia appears to be losing. Which is why we need to reach on NOW.
But that does not change the fact that it is going to be HARD
Those of you on the left constantly think that if you fart rainbows and unicorns that everyone will be happy and easily agree and get along.
No surprise here re the DSA/Communists labeling of Haley Stevens as “Mentally Ill”.
Wrongfully diagnosing, in lock step, Haley spotlites Goal # 32 of the Communist Goals designed to topple destroy traditional U.S. values … and that are listed in the January, 1963 Congrssional Record.
Goal # 38.
Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

It is already starting to unravel. The Democrats have won big, no doubt. The bigger question is can they lead? Hakeem Jeffries is going to learn how hard it is to lead the unleadable. The far left is going to burn the house down instead of building the bridges. History speaks volumes, remember the Tea Party?
The Democrats are shot full of sass. More than a hound dog with fleas.
Dems are going to multitask. All you need to do is put a tooth under your pillow and wait for the tooth fairy.
The dems will reduce living prices while serving Trump with a can of whoop ass articles of impeachment.
How exactly are the Dems going to do anything ?
They need 67 votes in the senate to impeach.
They need 67 votes in the senate to override a veto.
They need 60 votes in the senate to get passed a fillibuster.
With simple majority votes there is very little that they can change.
BTW No one is going to actually reduce living prices – the Federal reserve will not allow that.
Deflation is their Baba Yaga
What will happen – if Trump does nothing, if democrats do nothing, is growth will increase wages faster than costs – it already has done that.
The affordability nonsense is a chimera. We are nearly all better off than in 2024 – by a significant margin.
Multi tasking does not change the fact that their is only one congress, there are only so many hours in the day, and only so much time for each comittee.
I do expect Democrats to go whole hog on investigtions – because any legislative efforts they make are a waste of time.
There are about 800 days left in Trump’s presidency – you can impeach him 800 more times if you want.
Please behave incredibly stupidly.
Regardless the country is watching – and just as they had of Trump in 2024 – they have very high expectations of Congressional democrats.
Only you have neither the power, nor the intellect to deliver.
Outside of congress – you can not “investigate” until you have evidence of a crime. Even in congress, if you go Lavrenty Beria,
“Show me the man, I’ll find you the crime,” you just alienate people.
But please – show people once again just exactly who you are.
Your reading comprehension seems to fail you. The question was for the final time: what is your formula to correct “affordability”? No where in my question to you is “define affordability”? I’m beginning to believe you’re Dervish because all you do is spin!
You want the formula? It’s simple arithmetic. First, reverse Trump’s sweeping tariffs, which act as a direct tax hike on American consumers. Second, end the conflict with Iran that has choked the Strait of Hormuz and driven gas prices past $4.00 a gallon. Trump’s administration manufactured this inflation through bad trade deals and a reckless war; correcting it requires reversing both.
Which is exactly what everyone has been saying for a while. Things Trump kept ignoring.
Ending the US/Nato proxy war in Ukraine would greatly help also.
*cheap Russian energy would especially help some western European countries who are tittering on economic/social collapse.
“reverse Trump’s sweeping tariffs”
You do not have the power to do that. Again – you need 2/3 of the house and senate to get past a veto.
Regardless, you are not likely to do that – The tariffs are not generating the revenue Trump hoped but they are generating revenue and that is reducing the deficit and decreasing inflation – Get rid of the tariffs and you increase inflation.
Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomena – Milton Freidman.
The cause of inflation is The fed creating money in one form or another to pay for the deficit.
The Big surge in Bidens term was the consequence of the trillions spent on Covid
To reduce inflation you must either shrink money supply – if you do that without cutting spending you will artifically cause a recession,
or you must have growth significantly exceed inflation. And the Fed really does not like high growth – it imporperly beleives that to rapid growth causes inflation and it responds to high growth with interest rate increases which tighten money which kills growth and can cause recession.
Even if you had the power to impact the tariffs – which you dont, doing so would not work.
Regardless nations like Canada and Iran refused to negotiate because they beleived Trump would cave due to mid term pressures.
He did not – now they are in a bind – Contra your claims – Congress has near zero role in foreign relations – Countries negotiate with the executive.
Hakeem Jeffries can not negotiate Tariffs with Carney or peace with Iran.
“which act as a direct tax hike on American consumers.”
Correct – this is the least damaging way for government to raise revenue.
“Second, end the conflict with Iran”
Again – that is foreign policy – Congress has no power over it.
At the very most they can refuse to approve additional funding, but Trump can access a significant amount of funding via emergency provisions in laws. And honestly Congress is NOT going to do anything beyond posturing on the Iran war. Iran has admitted to being close to nuclear weapons.
Very very few congressmen of any party are going to vote knowing that when Iran nukes someone – they will be blamed.
“that has choked the Strait of Hormuz and driven gas prices past $4.00 a gallon.”
Inflation adjusted gas prices
1980 $4.45
1981 $4.51
2008 $4.77
2012 $4.88
2022 $4.22
” Trump’s administration manufactured this inflation”
Inflation has barely changed since Trump took office – while growth has risen 3pct.
Again inflation is always and everywhere MONETARY
Absolutely alot of people beleive what you are saying – and arguably that is reflected in the election.
But that does not alter the fact that it is false.
From 1787-approx 1917 the US government was funded almost entirely by Tariffs – That entire period we had MILD deflation.
Tariffs are as you note – the equivalent of sales taxes – are you really going to claims that sales taxes are inflationary ?
All taxes are economically bad, but the money to fund govenrment must come from somewhere.
The least economically damaging form of taxation is sales taxes.
In point of fact Trump’s tariffs are actually DEFLATIONARY – the revenu from them is revenue the US govenrment does not have to borrow and the Fed does not have to create from thin air.
The Fed’s inflation target is 2-2.2% – current inflation is 3.1% – too high but well inside historic norms – Total iflation under Bide was about 22% – that is more than 5%/yr – again that was caused by the massive covid spending bills
If you want gas prices to go down quickly – that is easy – FORCE the straits open – that is well within the power of the US to do.
But it would require putting more capital ships in the straights were they are significantly more vulnerable. Iran stands zero chance of sinking one – but they could cause damage and kill sailors.
Alternately – there are two marine expaditionary units in the gulf and one ranger batalion – Occupy the iranian side of the straits.
That would put US soldiers in direct conflict with IRGC and probably the iranian army.
One of the things Trump has been careful about is keeping US casulties low, and not doing anything that shifts the Iranian people against the US.
As we learned in Iraq – even a country that hates its leaders does not take kindly to being invaded.
To a very large extent the Iraniam army has remained sidelined in this.
Trump hoped that they might decide to stage a coup – the Iranian army is separate from the IRGC and Basij and is a professional, not political army.
Ending the conflict does not open the straits. Iran has already claimed the right to control the straits – and Oman – not an iranian ally is essentially doing the same. You only get the straits open by winning this conflict.
Most geopolicial analysts beleive Iran has already run out of money, regardless if we do nothing – Irans problems grow by the day.
Not as fast as Trump hoped, but they still grow.
Trump can actually end this extremely quickly – the US has been very careful NOT to create a humanitarian crisis or alienate the iranian people.
We have left Irans non-military infrastructure relatively intact – power grids, water distribution
Iran is massively short of water and has been for more than a year. Further damage to their water supply would result in a rapid collapse of the government – but also a humanitarian crisis.
Taking out their electric grid would have similar consequences.
The water shortage in Iran means Iranian agriculture is massively reduced – Iran is importing food – which it must pay for with money it does not have.
We KNOW Iran is actually seeking money BACK from Proxies – like the Houthis and Hezbollah – so we kow they are running out of money.
We can not know for certain when Iran capitulates, They have absolutely and very successfully prepared for this kind of warfare with the US. They knew we would go for decapitation – and we would be successfull, So they designed autonomy into governance and the IRGC – that is also part of the “we have no one to make a deal with” complaint. Iran may be unable to capitulate – not because it does not wish to, but because there is not sufficient central command to do so.
Regardless you can like trump or hate Trump, you can beleive this was a war of choice or an unavoidable conflict.
But the quickest way to open the straits is to win this.
But as I have mentioned before – over time supply chains restructure and it will not matter whether the straits are open.
You are not a professional psychologist. The person in question is not a patient in a practice that you do not have.
Yet you assert with absolute certainty:
Stevens “had a serious mental breakdown.”
What are you? An unmitigated fraud.
You don’t need to be a professional to observe when someone is having a mental breakdown. Even Rogers had a look of concern when he had his press conference with Stevens. It was THAT bad.
the above troll has psychotic breaks every hour, every day. But Im not a biologist
@Sigmund
Yes, they do. And they have daily, for years. And years. They used to go by ‘George’. they are absolutely every kind of mental you imagine. The ‘X’ handle only came along after Elon bought Twitter. None of us take him particularly seriously, like a clown.
X knows everything! He knows everything about construction, about reflecting pools, about unions, about elections, about what Jesus thought, about rent, about being a landlord, about diagnosing people physically and mentally without having to be in the room with them! He is the smartest person he knows! Just ask him! We need more people like him to tell people like me what to think and how to vote!
You might be a philologist like Kamala.
No you dont. Generally the deranged people are those who are busy diagnosing others.
There is plenty of evidence that Stevens was distruaght for days – Doing what she did is incredibly difficult. It usually involves lots of inner emotional turmoil. Stevens was a lifelong democrat. I am sure she spent days trying to convince herself that she did not need to speack out, or that the anti-semitism she was seeing was not there. She did not plan to do this, she did not want to do this. But after likely days of moral wrestling with her conscience she determined that she had no choice.
She could have been quiet – and preserved a future in the Democratic party. Endorsing Rogers was the end of that. Regardless of the kind things that Trump and Johnson said – she is not a republican and she would not fit there either. I have no doubt the GOP would have accepted her – but she is a liberal – not a conservative, she might be welcomed in the GOP but she would not fit in, she would not have a home there.
Further this not only burns bridges with the party – but with many of her “friends” – you left wing nuts are brutal. She was not just leaving the party – but she was going to be shunned by most if not all of her friends. Again this takes enormous courage.
Rarely republicans have become democrats – they do not get called used condoms by the GOP. They do not lose friends and family, Even the republicans they associated with maintain freindship.
But not democrats – violate dogma and you are shunned. You people are brutal.
We see this with YOU every day. Tiny deviations from left wing dogma are not tolerated. You are unable to conceded that you might be wrong in the tiniest way on the smallest point – doing so could alienate you from your entire world – even a tiny crack to let the light in could blow up your faith – everything you beleive – because everything you beleive is a self contradictory mess. Adjust a milometer and it all could collapse.
It is likely stevens wrestled with this for days – possibly weeks. It is also likely that she did not decide to come out until a few hours before the press conference. It is likely that she did not have alot of time to decide whatshe was going to say or how she was going to say it She likely deliberately chose to do very little planning – because she feared that she might talk herself out of doing the right thing.
At the same time – I am sure that she felt liberated – no longer having to try to keep this cognative disonance of standing beside a candidate who she found morally reprehensible.
Further others – many of those spraying metnal nonsense at her – were likely to a lessor extent wrestling with the same demons.
Democrats, the press, friends – all wanted the sweeping victory they got. But they more or less knew that El Sayed and his campaign had crossed lines – more than once. That he was clearly antisemetic. Not anti-israel, not anti-zionist – but antisemetic.
Peopel are calling her out as crazy – because the alternative is that they are the crazy ones.
You say that Stevens came accross as mentally unhealthy – I say that those interviewing her or talking about her came across as atacking her to p[rotect themselves from their own cognative disonance for supporting Sayed.
The more I say or here from Sayed the more sure I am that he is a bad person. But he will not be the first bad person in the senate.
He will not even be the only bad person in the senate now.
The senate will survive – the nation will survive.
Desperate to rebrand himself after Tuesday’s Republican wipeout, on Thursday JD Vance revealed that he has converted to Islam.
Vance, who was previously named James Donald Bowman and James David Hamel, will now be known as JD Abdul Zohran El-Sayed.
“As Allah is my witness, I believe I have one more pivot in me,” he said.
The former Mr. Vance made the stunning announcement while on tour for his latest book, Halalbilly Elegy.
This is socialism. Compliance is compulsory, dissent will be punished.
“Every socialist is a disguised dictator”. Ludwig von Mises
@Tony
I have decided these elections were decided by the under 35 that are selling their plasma because they think feeding themselves equals buying $20 burritos via door dash for every meal. They think ‘socialism’ means the government will now buy them those door dash burritos. They also think AOC will give them designer clothing for free. This is the level of ignorance we are now dealing with: people who never saw the USSR or China, thinking their quality of life should not shift simply because they are now out on their own, away from everything mom and dad provided after years of hard work.
Combine this with all of the people that didn’t bother to vote at all because of Jesus, and you get the result we got.
These kids will not manage money a government gives them any better than they did with what they got before; the concept of distribution over time is more than their brains can compute. It is in a great many cases not a failure of supply, just stupidity and an ability to be an honest to goodness adult. Let this be the final warning for the rest of us, please.
This is before we even start talking about the likes of Soros who are happy to exploit the people in question’s stupidity. WE did this. And we are continuing to do it. It’s time we stop. Educate the populace and we change everything else. We are doing an absolute sh*t job of that, currently.
Would love to see a demographic break down of any of the statistics we have been fed, but of course, we will not get that.
*inability to be an honest to goodness adult
Republicans do a similar a thing when they accuse someone of having “TDS” (Trump Derangement Syndrome).
You’re welcome in advance for this truth.
I’m glad I could bestow it.
The difference is TDS is real, where slandering Ms. Stevens is just normie leftist behavior. She should join forces with John Fetterman and begin to shape an independent identity apart from the Democrat caucus.
It is OK to be a misogynist if you’re a Democrat.
….and a racist, homophobe, transphobe, millionaire, billionaire, a rapist, incite violence, corrupt, perjurer, anti-police, and more
You mentioned several “democrats” as acknowledging her as a woman–How do they know? They have been unable to say what a woman is.
And to even suggest that she, as a woman, did what her fiance told her to do–I really think Hillary did too (imho). If I were publicy embarassed by my husband, I would not “stand by my man” so to speak.
We are headed down a path of destruction. They are not interested in the debt that will sink our descendants. They are only interested in destruction of the conservatives in the next two years. They will not care if the budget is balanced. They will not care if we are unable to pay at minimum the interest on the debt. If we are in debt, we cannot give any money out to our friends, neighbors, foe—-anybody. We have to shape up our house. Oh, I forgot–they dont give a flying cowplop!

The poor woman was clearly under a lot of strain, trying to satisfy competing and actually incompatible objectives. That’s a long way from being mentally ill. To call her mentally ill seems like a cheap shot to me.
This is the MO of the Democrat party…lockstep compliance with their agenda. They will ostracize a non-compliant individual, withdraw funding, publicly shame them, hold them out to dry, and use them as an object lesson of what happens to people who buck the agenda. Pretty much Stalanist tactics.
We saw it this year with Gov. Swalwell and Cesar Chavez. Democrats turned on a dime like a flock of birds. You can’t even tell where the direction originates.
Well said, Professor Turley! Thank you!
The only fools who are unstable and mentally ill in the Stevens matter are the Democrats: lunacy is the pinnacle of mental illness.
This is not a flattering view of what’s under the Democrats “Big Tent”. It looks more like an argument about trademark dilution when it is obvious that Democrats have not yet figured out what their brand is.
Talk to the people that supported Stevens into the primary, they are disgusted by her betrayal. Thus, they did the opposite pf what she supported.
JT, your post, and many of the comments will be used over and over again to show that MAGA truly is a cult.
There was an election. The people spoke, they are very tired of trump and all of MAGA. Texas went blue, The Carolinas are blue, Georgia is blue, Kansas is blue. DJT and all his supporters did this.
“. . . MAGA truly is a cult.”
Now that is hilarious.
What do you think cults do to insiders who turn against them? If you’re confused about that, look at any of the D. quotes about Stevens being insane.
Thank you Sam fore proving my point. I wish you the best in years to come as you get help. Don’t drink the koolaid, it might be laced.
CryBaby, it sounds like you agree with Sam that MAGA isn’t a cult, since dissent is permitted. It also seems that you recognize Democrats are a cult, as proven by the Stalinist activity calling Stevens insane and pushing her out.
Congratulations on recognizing your prior wayward thinking.
CRYBABY=LOSER
So morality come second to the whims of voters.
Of course she has alienated voters – particularly those who voted for El Sayed – she is correctly pointing out to them that they voted for a racist – anti-semitism is racism. And she is correct.
Say I can not longer support a person because they are racists, and everyone who is still supporting the racist will call you evil, or nuts.
Making the moral choice when those arround you are not – gets you stoned.
That is why those took a great deal of courage.
Are you really so mentally warped that you beleive that making a moral choice when those arround you do not is betrayal ?
El Sayed is not Goebels or Hitler – though had he been born in germany at the right time he likely would be high in the Nazi Party.
But he is a racist, who hangs around with lots of other bad people, and an angry little man. He will be a wonderful addition to democrats in the senate.
Stevens tried to convince her self that he was just not that bad. that she could suck it up. She fought with her own better angels and eventually they won. Those who voted for El Sayed – betrayed themselves and the country. But that has happened before – it is not the end of the world.
A once good friend concluded I must be supporting Trump because my husband bullied me into it. I took offense, saying that was a grave insult to both me and my husband. She replied that if it wasn’t true, I should have laughed it off. That is one reason we, alas, are no longer friends.
I’m find it hard myself dealing with AWFLs. They say politics shouldn’t get in the way of friendships but it’s a matter of values and principles.
To say that I’m surprised that the results of the midterms prove Americans have learned nothing of the past is an understatement. In just two years they’ve chosen to return to one of the most damaging group of politicians times 10. The GOP certainly didn’t improve anything by being as bland as a Velveeta cheese sandwich when it came time to codify law. Sadly my friends who chose the socialist forgot the old adage “better the devil you know than the devil you don’t.“. A day hasn’t passed and the illegal caravans are already moving north to the border.
The problem is Trump and Republicans weren’t listening. Even most of MAGA was demanding their leader address their affordability concerns. And what did he do? He told them to “suck it up” AFTER promising them he would cut their costs in half and promised no new wars. When he welshed on his promises they justifiably felt slighted and betrayed so many chose not to vote and Democrats got smart and took the a page from Trump’s own playbook, they listened to the voters.
Trump is going to be so marginalized in the next two years. Republicans will “suddenly” grow a spine and defy Trump’s whims and BS beauty projects in DC.
Hegseth is very, very, likely to be impeached because even Republicans have been floating the idea in congress. Hegseth failed to execute the Iran war effectively.
So X please astound us with your acumen on addressing “affordability”? Remember the cost of eggs and other groceries were higher under Biden. Stop with the Trump, Trump, Trump and give us the formula because right now no one from the democrats can answer that question when asked, only promises.
His AI machine is broken down. Now he’s forced to use his minuscule brain. Now you see the real George X, a blabbering fool.
Still on the Biden blame game? Wow.
Trump PROMISED to lower prices for everyone by half. Like never before. No new wars. When he started his war and his trade wars spiking prices up for everyone that didn’t bring prices down. Right?
MAGA supporters with nice fancy diesel pickup trucks suddenly didn’t like paying over $6 a gallon. My neighbor parked his dually diesel because he couldn’t afford the fill up every two weeks. Paying almost $300 a fill up for a grocery run is clearly ridiculous.
Everyone was concerned about higher costs of living. Not just groceries but also high utility bills due to massive data center building. A favorite of Trump. He loved data centers. Giant power and water hogs. Costing voters more.
What is patently clear is Republicans messed up big and LOST big.
They had nothing to campaign on besides worn out culture war BS.
The question was, give us the formula for addressing “affordability”, the democrats as well as their socialist leadership are unable to answer that question when asked. I offer you a fact and your comeback is Trump, MAGA, that’s not an answer. If you’re not able to answer just say “I like the democrats and their socialist leaders have no answer to correct affordability.” You’ll find more respect than ridicule if you’re honest.
Fact? What fact? You’re asking for something that should be “common sense” to any conservative. You’re telling me you cannot define what “affordability” is? Really?
It’s not a formula. It’s simple observation. That’s why the massage Democrats ran on was so simple. Remember the phrase “it’s the economy stupid”? That’s exactly what it was.
People noticed things were getting more expensive and Trump, who promised to lower those expenses by half or even more, was not addressing it. He dismissed the idea of affordability and told his followers to essentially “suck it up”.
Grocery prices were still high. Gas and Diesel are at historic highs. Inflation isn’t going down. All those metrics worked against republicans. All because Trump himself started a war nobody asked for, except Israel. So what benefit did we get from that fiasco? Higher prices and wasted Billions on military infrastructure and ammunition.
You harp about “socialist leaders” like it’s a thing. In fact it’s the thing that did Trump and Republicans in. They focused on these BS tropes about socialism, communism, Marxism, and scary transgender agendas and whatnot. Completely ignoring the one thing even their own constituents and supporters wanted to address. The. Cost. Of. Living. And. Lower. Prices on every day goods that Trump promised to Lower.
It was is a wildly simple point that Republicans failed to address.
It’s an ordinary midterm relapse like Reagan, Clinton, Bush, and Obama all had, which could’ve been predicted two years ago. The current endemic inflation was severely exacerbated by the CARES Act for which Trump and the Democrats are equally responsible. Now Trump is a lame duck, but he still has a veto and wants to make deals. Everyone else is posturing for 2028.
“Trump himself started a war nobody asked for, except Israel.”
This comes from a person who has the intellect of a snail.
Remember the lies about Iran and GSX’s denials that he wrote the following statement? “Iran never wanted a nuclear weapon.” Even GSX couldn’t believe he wrote it, even after his words were copied in replies to him.
Again, GSX is providing BS. “Trump himself started a war nobody asked for, except Israel.”
Israel is the small Satan and the US is the big Satan. Yes, Iran wants both Israel and the US destroyed. Of that, there is no question. A war with Iran has been kindled for 47 years, during which Americans have been killed.
When a power wishes you dead, and they are near to producing nuclear weapons to kill you, BELIEVE THEM!
