Baltimore Father Stabs Son After Teen Refuses To Remove Hat in Church

300px-god2-sistine_chapelBaltimore police are in the process of arresting a 58-year-old man who argued with his son in church about the 19-year-olds refusal to take his hat off. The father then proceeded to stab his son in the left buttock.

The father then fled. This strikes me as a somewhat curious lesson about proper etiquette in church. Hats are strictly prohibited while knives are permissible. Of course, the father could have packed some real firepower in Arkansas where you are allowed to lock and load for Jesus.

The Bible does promise joy from discipline: Discipline your son, and he will give you peace, he will bring delight to your soul. ~ Proverbs 29:17. However, it also takes a dim view of the use of potentially lethal force in the discipline of children: Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death. ~ Proverbs 19:18

Oh and I forgot this little parenting tip from Leviticus:

“All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense.” (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)

I want the tape on what that kid said prior to the so-called battery. Heathens!

What is it with these Church stories? I think the next time in church the son will take off his hat! Of course, he may use the hat to sit on to cushion the wounded area. Prof. Turley is correct that the son is lucky that the father was not carrying a gun or the pain in his butt, might seem trivial in comparison to a gunshot wound. Why do we see such violence in God’s house? Maybe the words quoted by Buddha tell us why!

I dont think this has anything to do with religion the father and son were probably arguing about something else prior to church and it got out of hand during church.

Maybe this was an Italian family, we all know how they like guns and knives and garrots, and car bombs and not necessarily just for church.

I’m pretty sure Jesus never said, “And those who shall not remove their hats in the house of Our Heavenly Father shall be stabbed in the buttocks.” Judas wanted that in the Book, but Jesus put his foot down. It was the final straw that drove Judas to betray his friend. Some think it was evil in Judas’ nature, others that Christ actually asked Judas to betray him, but no . . . it was an editorial dispute.

And don’t even get me started on the idea of God needing a house.

Bron: “Maybe this was an Italian family…”

Maybe it was your uncle, no disrespect.

Not that I don’t think your entire family is absolutely retarded. It must be because you’re in it, no disrespect.

    Jericho:

I was commenting on the absurdity of assuming that the guy stabbed his son because he was religious. I could have just as easily said a black family. But had I said that I would have been accused of racism.

I meant no disrespect to Italians or to African Americans or to Asians or to Poles or to women or any other member of a class of people considered by the government to be a minority because of race, gender or social class.

for Christ sake it was a rethorical structure.
