Burundi authorities have secured a life sentence for an individual accused of involved in the trafficking of albino body parts for witchcraft. The victims were murdered and then mutilated to sell as parts for witchcraft ceremonies and potions.
At least twelve albinos are believed to have been murdered and “harvested” for their body parts. Another 40 are believed to have been killed in Tanzania. Over 200 people were arrested in Tanzania but no one has been convicted.
Witch doctors believe that albino parts can bring luck in love, life and business.
