According to a recent poll, sixty percent of Americans view Sarah Palin as unqualified to be President while a huge seventy percent lack confidence in her. My favorite aspect of the poll is that two percent believe she is a Muslim.
However, when you move to simply Republicans, 47 percent believe she would be great as a president. Forty percent of Republicans believe she is unqualified.
UPDATE: The results do not appear to have discouraged Palin, who went to Iowa this week in search of that forty percent.
Source: CNN.

47% over 40? Hmmmm. They may need their meds adjusted.
That’s like putting Jeffrey Dalhmer in charge of the Day Care. Lizzy Borden over Prisons. Bernie over the Federal Reserve, nah he’s to smart for that..too many paper trails….
I think the 60% have it right. I am just playing the odds on this one.
“However, when you move to simply Republicans, 47 percent (over 40 percent) believe she would be great as a president.”
President of what???
Stewart and Colbert must be part of that 2% who think she’s muslim. I know a few people who would have enjoyed saying that … had they been contacted.
Forty percent of Bdaman’s people think she’d be a great president … man, if he can tap into that group …
I hope he posts on this thread so I can lead him to them.
I saw a poll the other day, with the 5th annivesary of Hurricane Katrina. That people felt that George Bush did a better job with katrina than Obama did with the oil spill in the gulf.

I would love to know how anyone could possibly think that this ignoramus is qualified to be POTUS. Palin has done nothing; accomplished nothing and learned nothing.
I give her credit though. She has honed a personality disorder and willful ignorance into national prominence. Of course that describes Paris Hilton as well.
Yes, but Paris Hilton could never even be nominated because she is a Muslim.
The video I posted is one of Jack Cafferty talking about Sarah Palin when she was running for VP. Cafferty reads some emails from viewers who have scathing opinions about Palin’s intellect/abilities.
I think Bush has confirmed that you do not have to have intelligence to be Pres…..Just have a daddy that ran the CIA…wasn’t he doing that at the time of Kecksburg, PA? Twilight Theme Song Music…..
Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Palin, & Fifty Nifty United States
“However, when you move to simply Republicans, 47 percent believe she would be great as a president.”
Thus proving that great utilitarian John Stuart Mill was right when he said, “Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.”
Did Prof. Turley rely on the same poll?
The article that I read asked this question:
Do you think SARAH PALIN would have the ability to be an EFFECTIVE PRESIDENT?
ALL – No 59% Yes 26%
REP. No 40% Yes 47%
DEM. No 75% Yes 12%
IND. No 63% Yes 21%
LIB. No 80% Yes 15%
MOD. No 70% Yes 19%
CONSERV. No 40% Yes 41%
The political hit piece written by Alexander Mooney does not rely on the CBS/Vanity Fair poll. It can’t!
There’s a big difference between being qualified and being effective. I know a lot of people who are qualified to perform a job, who aren’t very effective.
I don’t consider Sarah Palin to be qualified. Her lack of qualification in a number of areas would lead me to think she would not be very effective. However, concluding that people consider her to be unqualified because they consider her to likely be ineffective is a conclusion that is the product of personal bias.
We have had a number of ineffective Presidents, but I doubt most historians would blame that on a lack of qualification.

Number 1:
There’s a big difference between being qualified and being effective.
The question was: has ability to be an EFFECTIVE PRESIDENT?
That sounds like qualified to me.
I don’t know how anyone could conceivably think she would be qualified to be anything but what she is, a publicity seeking celebrity after the big bucks. How can you write a whole inauguration speech on your hand? She couldn’t even stick it out as Gov of Alaska.

You’re talking about President of Glennbeckistan, right?
Does Sarah Palin have the ability to be an effective shill to the racist, reactionary, “likes shiny things” brute-wing of the Republican Party?
I think we know the answer here and have no doubt that it means “qualified.”
I knew it before you did…na na nana nah
We’d be better off asking if people think her VP would have the ability to be an effective president.
“I would love to know how anyone could possibly think that this ignoramus is qualified to be POTUS. Palin has done nothing; accomplished nothing and learned nothing.”
she could be on the democratic ticket next time around, they seem to have a pretty low bar for candidates.
I have a problem with these folks that don’t just suck up the shit either way. If you did not take the time to vote then don’t bitch. Palin, well she is trying to do her best. I heard that she was done a lot while Governor.
She did two reporters, at different times of course. I heard she laid there and was a slippery as the iditarod. I assume she knows what position she’s in at any time. Unless she was coked up, but who knows. She is not too bad to look at especially when she wears skimpy clothes. She is all about free love. Give her a chance. Do her to.
“Does Sarah Palin have the ability to be an effective shill to the racist, reactionary, “likes shiny things” brute-wing of the Republican Party?”
Exactly what does that mean? I imagine democrats are all so far advanced they have given up shiny things? I know a few and can vouch for their knuckle dragging mouth, breathing capacity.
“Give her a chance. Do her to.”
At least she is doable, most all of the women of the left are not doable. In fact one would be better off “doing” a German Shepard or a Hampshire Sow rather than one of the lefts “golden” girls.
I guess the criticism stems from envy.
New poll question.
Do you think Joe Biden would have the ability to be an EFFECTIVE PRESIDENT?
Knuckle dragging mouth? Never heard that one before!
It is true that democrats are known for their breathing capacity. It’s just one of their many repulsive, yet advanced, attributes.
comma placement is imperative to good understanding. But then one should be able to divine the meaning of a simple sentence with an obvious mistake of punctuation. Especially one with contextual clues.
If the exercise was derision, it has failed miserably.
Jeepers Creepers,
Now we’re all supposed to “divine” the meaning of your comments? How am I supposed to know that you weren’t trying to coin a new pejorative?
If you want to dish it out on the Turley blawg, you had better check to see that you’ve got the right utensils in your kitchen drawer first.
P.S. Here’s a clue to “divining” the point of my last statement: Don’t take it literally.
Elaine,
Personally, I store my witching stick over the fire place. Although I guess my tea reading paraphernalia does get kept in the Kitchen.
Gyges-
And where, do tell, do you keep your “divining” rod?
I see what you mean, the people on the right hide the ugly ones. I remember Cheney’s daughter was kept out of the media not only because she was a muncher, but because butt ugly. Would you want her on a postcard? Not me. Damn Jeepers, you got some balls to say that stuff. So was your sister as good as your mom?
Yes, you are quite right about that, a dull paring knife and a snail fork would come in handy here.
Jeepers Creepers,
A little comma joke to lighten the discussion:
A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons.
“Why?” asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage.
The panda pauses on his way out, produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual, and tosses it over his shoulder.
“Well, I’m a panda,” he says at the door. “Look it up.”
The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation:
“Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.”

You may want to read Lynne Truss’s best-selling book “EATS, SHOOTS & LEAVES: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation”–if you haven’t already.
Oh, Elaine!
Media Troll:
Quite funny but I, unlike you, did not engage in incestuous relationships with “kin folk” nor am I the result of such. Now I am not above saying your mother is quite the sexual dilettante.
That particular Panda apparently suffers the same affliction as those here.
Elaine,
In the junk drawer, right next to my electronic I-Ching Calculator.
Elaine M.,
Elegant troll busting … and educational to boot!
That’s a funny place for a divining rod…
are you [pl] serious about divine? If one can divinate, well you get the picture but then obviously not.
Very elegant troll busting indeed.
Jeepers,
Surely you should be able to tell from context if we are joking or not.
Yes, and calling women who don’t agree with you ugly is certainly the height of intellectual prowess. Bravo.
Discussions about Sarah Palin, even if they begin seriously, eventually lapse into some sort of theatre of the absurd. So, let’s consider the questions in order:
1. Is she “doable”? This is a highly impertinent inquiry, but the answer is yes. Anyone is “doable.” Just ask Sen. Vitter.
2. Is she qualified to be president? Of course not. On the other hand, who is qualified? It’s mostly an on-the-job training kind of position.
3. Could she survive media scrutiny in another race? Yes, provided that she limits her comments to tweets and Facebook entries and only sits for interviews with Bert Parks. Unfortunately, Bert departed some time ago for that Great Pageant in the Sky, so she will have to stick with tweets and Facebook entries.
The most serious problem with Sarah Palin isn’t that she is not qualified, but that she could never become qualified. She could never become qualified because she is not educable.
Jeepers Creepers,
I know divine is a word–and that divination is a word. Has “divinate” been added to the English language in recent years? Could you provide us with its definition?

“The most serious problem with Sarah Palin isn’t that she is not qualified, but that she could never become qualified. She could never become qualified because she is not educable.”
That’s it–in a nutshell!
I’m sorry, this is a little off topic, but I’m laughing so hard I just had to share this tidbit.
John Bolton 2012? Bush’s Former U.N. Ambassador Won’t Rule Out Presidential Run
ROFLMAO
John-boy there couldn’t get elected dog catcher although it would be funny to watch him try given he has all the personality of a pit bull on PCP. This AEI/JINSA/PNAC asshole and cheerleader for perpetual war never had an elected job in government and the closest he came was as as the interim United States Ambassador to the United Nations from August 2005 until December 2006. Which he got from Bush on a recess appointment and he had to resign because even a GOP controlled Senate wouldn’t approve of him. But he hasn’t ruled out a presidential bid, no sir! lol roflol
You do not have to be a brain trust to be president. Come on folks. Look at who we have had. The record speaks for itself. Jeepers, stir some more. You’re doing good. I can smell it here in Sunnyvale. Oh yeah, How you like it? More, more, more.
We often get bogged down in discussions like this, trying to determine just how ignorant or stupid people are. My take is that most of us understand that we obviously live at a time of limited media outlets, producing right-wing propaganda as part of what Hillary Clinton correctly called a “vast right wing conspiracy.” How can we expect that anybody in the general public understands the issues facing us, when they simply do not get the information they need? The task facing those of us who want our country to be ruled constitutionally and commensurate with our laws is to find some way to combat this propaganda or things will just keep deteriorating.
That being said, it has always been my opinion that a certain percentage of all human populations are incapable of making independent life choices and consequently must find leaders to follow and to tell them how to behave. While this phenomenon is not limited to particular parts of the political spectrum, it seems to run rampant among those who would style themselves Conservatives. We are really in a struggle today to decide if this country and world return to a feudalism ruled by a corporate elite, or to continue and progress towards a world where there is some equity for all and an understanding that we must meet all humans basic needs.
Well said, Mike S.
Seconded.
(It’s good to see you as always.)

Most women of the left have discerning taste when it comes to the opposite sex–and we are too intelligent to EVER be tempted to “do” a Neo-anderthal!
Mike S,
Good to see your words again. Welcome back (even if temporarily)
Who is this Mike guy? Another Troll, of Buddha’s imagery play pals? But when you can’t play with others it best to not play with yourself. Buddhakey.
Mike S.,
It’s good to have you back commenting at the Turley blawg once again!
EC,
You’re back. My Hopes came true. Now wanna make my dreams a reality….I love those tresses……
Media Troll,
I’m going to have to write off that last comment of yours to English not being your primary language.
Ah, but who is this medial troll who attacks through ignorance gratuitously? Boring is my instinct but who knows?
Gyges and Elaine M. and everyone else I’m glad to be back, am feeling very well and I’m halfway down the road to full recovery.
Thank you all for your good wishes and personal expressions of concern.
Mike S.,
How are you doing? The blog has certainly been not the same in spirit or depth of conversation without your presence. You add a needed spark, well reasoned thought out responses to lunatics and responses. Although I don’t always agree, you command my respect sir.
I have mostly been playing wordfued and look in the morning and post after then. I suppose the rest of the blogger have more space….lol…
Mike S., how sweet it is to see your words once again.

For my part … just keep speaking truth to lies … over and over again … rather like teaching a child manners … one doesn’t stop at the 99th repetition because the 100th may be when they actually get it.
For instance … the recent claim that you are an incarnation (or incantation if pagan) of Buddha … everyone on this blog knows you are chartreuse and aromatic while Buddha is rather pea-soupish …
I have been busy and have not been on this blog for a few days so it was good to see you back on, Mike. We live in an unbelievable time. Just saw the discussion on Chris Matthews about Glenn Beck questioning Obama’s christianity.

You also left out the ONE number that trumps all the rest…100% believe she is a LUNATIC !!!
Mike S:
You have made my day.
BTW,lets see where this goes and how it gets there.
A bigoted pastor who has assailed gays and Muslims is launching the “9-11 Christian Center at Ground Zero” a mere two blocks from the World Trade Center site this Sunday but so far the project hasn’t drawn a peep of protest from those who are outraged by the “ground zero mosque.”

BIL,
That’s not very nice, John Bolton.
BIL:
JB is giving BO some advice for his speech tonight also.
“Bush’s former ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, on how Obama screwed up his predecessor’s handiwork in Iraq, the coming regional arms conflict—and what the president should say in his speech tonight about his decision to withdraw American troops.”

eniobob,
What a war pig douche bag! “One of the main criticisms of President Bush’s decision to overthrow Saddam Hussein was that the United States had attacked the wrong target. Iraq wasn’t the real threat, said these critics, it was Iran.” says John Bolton when it was manifestly apparent to anyone with an IQ above room temperature that the 9/11 attacks were funded and manned by Saudi Arabia.
But as long as you can get your perpetual war without pissing off Bush’s business partners in Riyadh, eh, John?
All the signatories to PNAC (of which Bolton is) should be immediately arrested for treason.
Mike A.,
Sorry! I couldn’t stop myself from posting this video:
Elaine M.
As the “reverend”said “talk to god about this woman.Priceless!
BIL:
Sometimes I wish you would tell us how you really feel:=)
Everyone,
it’s good to be back and I’m feeling myself for the first time in many months. I’m not in the clear yet, but within time have a good prognosis for living a longer life enabling me to view the continuing stories of my children/grandchildren, with sharing the companionship of my beloved. I am warmed by the support and caring many here have shown me including JT our peerless ringmaster and of course Buddha. Contrary to some beliefs I am much more a creature of blue than green. In any event I’m back and wish to share with you below the music that helped sustain me this past scary months.
Love

Blouise,
I completely agree with you. We may not win but theres a lot to be said for not going gently into the night.
Mike,
I think I can speak for all the regulars (and if I can’t speak for all the regulars, then I certainly say this from my perspective) in saying that we’re just glad you’re on the mend and your return greatly benefits us all. Your wit, wisdom and perspective have been sorrily missed.
Mike:
You have made my week to see you back on the blog. We have truly missed you and your sage observations. You have been much in my thoughts — as with the other regulars on this blog. Welcome back, Mike.
JT
Mike Spindell,
Buddha is allowed to speak for me whenever he wishes because he speaks so well!
Elaine M.,
Great video! Thanks. Now do you think you can find one with Benny Hinn whacking her with his suit jacket?
Mike S:
Ditto what JT said
Mike A.,
I could only find this video of Benny when he took on the demons who were exorcized from Palin by the witch doctor.
Mike S. I’ll let the song speak for me.
Mike Swindell:
I’ll just echo Buddha and the Professor, damned glad to see you
It’s Spindell with a P Kook
Leave it to an expert on spewing insubstantial crap to find that clip. I bet you have that bookmarked, Jeepster.
(Thank you! I’ll be playing the big room all week! Tip your servers!)
I just thought it was rather funny in a sick sort of way. Benny Hinn is giving his flock one big enema.
Another Pentecostal moron. She has decided that now that she is out from under Benny’s shadow, she can go after some real money for herself.
Elaine,
Back in the days when Benny lived here in Orlando, his chauffeur would drive him to a local salon every week or so to maintain his ‘do. You’ll notice that even the power of the Holy Spirit is helpless against modern hair spray.
Mike A.,
Is Benny’s hairstyle called the “Hinndo” at that Orlando salon? (Sorry for the bad pun!)
Oh my.
Elaine. Elaine. Elaine.
It’s a good thing you’re married. You’re a woman after my own heart.
Elaine,
If I knew how to create emoticons, you’d see one groaning.
I’ve only been able to create the smiling and winking emoticons.
I’m going to try something else–to see if works.

So much for that!
Hi Mike!
FF LEO,
Where ya been? Sittin’ in the shade?
Elaine,
Reading such word play was a truly hair raising experience.
Gyges,
Now all you need to do is to put some spray on it to keep your hair up a la Benny Hinn. Are you too young to remember the days of teased, bouffant hairstyles? Glad they went out of style!
FFLEO,
Hi back to you. Us old coots seem to keep on keeping on.
JT, Buddha, Mespo Rafflaw and the whole mishpucha. I’m glad to be back and glad to be able to write without having to push myself through the fog caused by poor blood flow and a deteriorating heart. My life has been saved by a device known as an LVAD, which to my chagrin Cheney got two weeks before me. It is an amazing device that well may keep me alive for a heart transplant and allows me at the same time to have a relatively normal life.
bdaman,
Thanks for the video, good song and as someone famous once said I have no intentions of going gently into the night.
Bdaman: It’s Spindell with a P Kook
dang and I can’t even claim a typo
sorry Mike
