Sixty Percent of Americans View Palin As Unqualified To Be President — Two Percent Say She Is A Muslim

According to a recent poll, sixty percent of Americans view Sarah Palin as unqualified to be President while a huge seventy percent lack confidence in her. My favorite aspect of the poll is that two percent believe she is a Muslim.

However, when you move to simply Republicans, 47 percent believe she would be great as a president. Forty percent of Republicans believe she is unqualified.

UPDATE: The results do not appear to have discouraged Palin, who went to Iowa this week in search of that forty percent.

47% over 40? Hmmmm. They may need their meds adjusted.

That’s like putting Jeffrey Dalhmer in charge of the Day Care. Lizzy Borden over Prisons. Bernie over the Federal Reserve, nah he’s to smart for that..too many paper trails….

I think the 60% have it right. I am just playing the odds on this one.

    President of what???

Stewart and Colbert must be part of that 2% who think she’s muslim. I know a few people who would have enjoyed saying that … had they been contacted.

  4. 4 Blouise 1, August 30, 2010 at 9:28 am

Forty percent of Bdaman’s people think she’d be a great president … man, if he can tap into that group …

I hope he posts on this thread so I can lead him to them.

I would love to know how anyone could possibly think that this ignoramus is qualified to be POTUS. Palin has done nothing; accomplished nothing and learned nothing.

I give her credit though. She has honed a personality disorder and willful ignorance into national prominence. Of course that describes Paris Hilton as well.

  8. 8 Gingerbaker 1, August 30, 2010 at 9:49 am

Yes, but Paris Hilton could never even be nominated because she is a Muslim.

The video I posted is one of Jack Cafferty talking about Sarah Palin when she was running for VP. Cafferty reads some emails from viewers who have scathing opinions about Palin’s intellect/abilities.

Did Prof. Turley rely on the same poll?

The article that I read asked this question:

Do you think SARAH PALIN would have the ability to be an EFFECTIVE PRESIDENT?

    ALL – No 59% Yes 26%
    REP. No 40% Yes 47%
    DEM. No 75% Yes 12%
    IND. No 63% Yes 21%
    LIB. No 80% Yes 15%
    MOD. No 70% Yes 19%
    CONSERV. No 40% Yes 41%

The political hit piece written by Alexander Mooney does not rely on the CBS/Vanity Fair poll. It can’t!

There’s a big difference between being qualified and being effective. I know a lot of people who are qualified to perform a job, who aren’t very effective.

I don’t consider Sarah Palin to be qualified. Her lack of qualification in a number of areas would lead me to think she would not be very effective. However, concluding that people consider her to be unqualified because they consider her to likely be ineffective is a conclusion that is the product of personal bias.

We have had a number of ineffective Presidents, but I doubt most historians would blame that on a lack of qualification.

I don’t know how anyone could conceivably think she would be qualified to be anything but what she is, a publicity seeking celebrity after the big bucks. How can you write a whole inauguration speech on your hand? She couldn’t even stick it out as Gov of Alaska.

I have a problem with these folks that don’t just suck up the shit either way. If you did not take the time to vote then don’t bitch. Palin, well she is trying to do her best. I heard that she was done a lot while Governor.

She did two reporters, at different times of course. I heard she laid there and was a slippery as the iditarod. I assume she knows what position she’s in at any time. Unless she was coked up, but who knows. She is not too bad to look at especially when she wears skimpy clothes. She is all about free love. Give her a chance. Do her to.

comma placement is imperative to good understanding. But then one should be able to divine the meaning of a simple sentence with an obvious mistake of punctuation. Especially one with contextual clues.

If the exercise was derision, it has failed miserably.

  30. 32 Elaine M. 1, August 30, 2010 at 5:04 pm

    Jeepers Creepers,

Now we’re all supposed to “divine” the meaning of your comments? How am I supposed to know that you weren’t trying to coin a new pejorative?

If you want to dish it out on the Turley blawg, you had better check to see that you’ve got the right utensils in your kitchen drawer first.

P.S. Here’s a clue to “divining” the point of my last statement: Don’t take it literally.

Yes, you are quite right about that, a dull paring knife and a snail fork would come in handy here.

  35. 37 Elaine M. 1, August 30, 2010 at 5:28 pm

    Jeepers Creepers,

A little comma joke to lighten the discussion:

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons.

“Why?” asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage.

The panda pauses on his way out, produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual, and tosses it over his shoulder.

“Well, I’m a panda,” he says at the door. “Look it up.”

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation:

“Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.”

Discussions about Sarah Palin, even if they begin seriously, eventually lapse into some sort of theatre of the absurd. So, let’s consider the questions in order:

    1. Is she “doable”? This is a highly impertinent inquiry, but the answer is yes. Anyone is “doable.” Just ask Sen. Vitter.

    2. Is she qualified to be president? Of course not. On the other hand, who is qualified? It’s mostly an on-the-job training kind of position.

    3. Could she survive media scrutiny in another race? Yes, provided that she limits her comments to tweets and Facebook entries and only sits for interviews with Bert Parks. Unfortunately, Bert departed some time ago for that Great Pageant in the Sky, so she will have to stick with tweets and Facebook entries.

The most serious problem with Sarah Palin isn’t that she is not qualified, but that she could never become qualified. She could never become qualified because she is not educable.

  46. 48 Elaine M. 1, August 30, 2010 at 6:24 pm

    Jeepers Creepers,

I know divine is a word–and that divination is a word. Has “divinate” been added to the English language in recent years? Could you provide us with its definition?

  49. 51 Mike Spindell 1, August 30, 2010 at 6:34 pm

We often get bogged down in discussions like this, trying to determine just how ignorant or stupid people are. My take is that most of us understand that we obviously live at a time of limited media outlets, producing right-wing propaganda as part of what Hillary Clinton correctly called a “vast right wing conspiracy.” How can we expect that anybody in the general public understands the issues facing us, when they simply do not get the information they need? The task facing those of us who want our country to be ruled constitutionally and commensurate with our laws is to find some way to combat this propaganda or things will just keep deteriorating.

That being said, it has always been my opinion that a certain percentage of all human populations are incapable of making independent life choices and consequently must find leaders to follow and to tell them how to behave. While this phenomenon is not limited to particular parts of the political spectrum, it seems to run rampant among those who would style themselves Conservatives. We are really in a struggle today to decide if this country and world return to a feudalism ruled by a corporate elite, or to continue and progress towards a world where there is some equity for all and an understanding that we must meet all humans basic needs.

I am warmed by the support and caring many here have shown me including JT our peerless ringmaster and of course Buddha. Contrary to some beliefs I am much more a creature of blue than green. In any event I’m back and wish to share with you below the music that helped sustain me this past scary months.
    Love

“For my part … just keep speaking truth to lies … over and over again … rather like teaching a child manners … one doesn’t stop at the 99th repetition because the 100th may be when they actually get it.”

    Blouise,
I completely agree with you. We may not win but theres a lot to be said for not going gently into the night.

    Mike,

I think I can speak for all the regulars (and if I can’t speak for all the regulars, then I certainly say this from my perspective) in saying that we’re just glad you’re on the mend and your return greatly benefits us all. Your wit, wisdom and perspective have been sorrily missed.

    Mike:

You have made my week to see you back on the blog. We have truly missed you and your sage observations. You have been much in my thoughts — as with the other regulars on this blog. Welcome back, Mike.

    Mike Spindell,

Buddha is allowed to speak for me whenever he wishes because he speaks so well!

    Elaine M.,
Great video! Thanks. Now do you think you can find one with Benny Hinn whacking her with his suit jacket?

  81. 83 mespo727272 1, August 31, 2010 at 5:00 pm

    Mike S:

    Ditto what JT said

  82. 84 Elaine M. 1, August 31, 2010 at 5:13 pm

    Mike A.,

I could only find this video of Benny when he took on the demons who were exorcized from Palin by the witch doctor.

Mike S. I’ll let the song speak for me.

I’ll just echo Buddha and the Professor, damned glad to see you

Leave it to an expert on spewing insubstantial crap to find that clip. I bet you have that bookmarked, Jeepster.

(Thank you! I’ll be playing the big room all week! Tip your servers!)

  87. 90 Jeepers Creepers 1, August 31, 2010 at 5:57 pm

I just thought it was rather funny in a sick sort of way. Benny Hinn is giving his flock one big enema.

  88. 91 Mike Appleton 1, August 31, 2010 at 5:59 pm

Another Pentecostal moron. She has decided that now that she is out from under Benny’s shadow, she can go after some real money for herself.

  89. 92 Mike Appleton 1, August 31, 2010 at 6:07 pm

    Elaine,
Back in the days when Benny lived here in Orlando, his chauffeur would drive him to a local salon every week or so to maintain his ‘do. You’ll notice that even the power of the Holy Spirit is helpless against modern hair spray.

  90. 93 Elaine M. 1, August 31, 2010 at 6:38 pm

    Mike A.,

Is Benny’s hairstyle called the “Hinndo” at that Orlando salon? (Sorry for the bad pun!)

  91. 94 Buddha Is Laughing 1, August 31, 2010 at 6:45 pm

    Oh my.

    Elaine. Elaine. Elaine.

It’s a good thing you’re married. You’re a woman after my own heart.

  92. 95 Mike Appleton 1, August 31, 2010 at 6:47 pm

    Elaine,
If I knew how to create emoticons, you’d see one groaning.

  93. 96 Elaine M. 1, August 31, 2010 at 7:54 pm

I’ve only been able to create the smiling and winking emoticons.

I’m going to try something else–to see if works.

    Hi Mike!

  95. 100 Elaine M. 1, September 1, 2010 at 7:52 am

    FF LEO,

Where ya been? Sittin’ in the shade?

  96. 101 Gyges 1, September 1, 2010 at 12:36 pm

    Elaine,

Reading such word play was a truly hair raising experience.

  97. 102 Elaine M. 1, September 1, 2010 at 12:48 pm

    Gyges,

Now all you need to do is to put some spray on it to keep your hair up a la Benny Hinn. Are you too young to remember the days of teased, bouffant hairstyles? Glad they went out of style!

  98. 103 Mike Spindell 1, September 1, 2010 at 2:18 pm

    FFLEO,
Hi back to you. Us old coots seem to keep on keeping on.

JT, Buddha, Mespo Rafflaw and the whole mishpucha. I’m glad to be back and glad to be able to write without having to push myself through the fog caused by poor blood flow and a deteriorating heart. My life has been saved by a device known as an LVAD, which to my chagrin Cheney got two weeks before me. It is an amazing device that well may keep me alive for a heart transplant and allows me at the same time to have a relatively normal life.

    bdaman,
Thanks for the video, good song and as someone famous once said I have no intentions of going gently into the night.

  99. 104 C.Everett Kook 1, September 2, 2010 at 2:43 pm

    Bdaman: It’s Spindell with a P Kook

dang and I can’t even claim a typo

    sorry Mike
